Neuvillette x reader | Fluff, established relationship, neuvi can’t sleep without his darling 🥹

☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
You got out of work quickly today. And the first thing you did was start working on the new paperwork given to you this morning.
It is 4:30pm and your boyfriend, Neuvillette, will be back from work in thirty minutes or so. Unless he’s stopping by Café Lucerne with the melusines for tea. You began preparing dinner for him beforehand since you’ll be busy the whole evening. As the clock struck 5pm, you heard the sound of keys clicking at your front door. And before you immerse yourself in work, you left a note on the dinner table,
Welcome home love, I’m sorry that I am unable to dine with you tonight. I’ve got tons of paperwork to finish.
Enjoy your meal
I love you.
Your fav chérie ❤️
After reading your sweet note, Neuvillette has a soft smile on his face turning to look at different types of dishes laid on the table and suddenly wonders how lucky he is to have such a lovely and thoughtful lady as his significant other.
Days like this are totally normal for the two of you since you both have important jobs. But you guys always managed to find time to be together. Instead of going to the office to greet you he went to your shared bedroom and took a nice warm bath after a long day. Sadly you weren’t able to join him because he’d prefer taking a bath with you more. Then settle down to eat dinner.
When he finished eating, he prepared some snacks and tea for you. He knocked on the door, “May I come in love?” you hummed a “yes” instead of speaking because you were so concentrated on the documents. Neuvillette walked in on you focused, eyebrows slightly knitted together, hand on your chin and the other spinning a pen. He felt his cheek and ears burn slightly just from the sight in front of him.
Your boyfriend has finally gotten out of his trance as your voice softly calls him, “Neuvi?” with your eyes glued on the papers. Seeing that you got no response back, you turn to the side only to be met with his soft lips on yours. You smiled into the kiss and pulled away. Neuvillette took that as a chance to press his forehead against yours and rubbed his nose against yours. “I missed you.” He softly admitted. “I missed you too”, you responded back with a peck on his lips.
“I brought you snacks and tea ma chérie”, your boyfriend said as he walked towards his desk to grab some documents. He gave you a kiss after retrieving the items needed. “I’ll see you later in bed?” he asked with a soft tone in his voice. “Mhm, see you handsome” .
It’s getting quite late, Neuvillette has already gone to bed, you thought. But he’s been shifting back and forth. He keeps extending his arm to the side next to him, hoping you’d be in bed. And to feel nothing but air and the bedsheet. He turns to the side once again, before he finally decides to get up and to bring you to bed. He groans as he gets up, his long silky hair swiftly moving along his movements as he heads towards the office.
You, on the other hand, had just finished your hellish paperworks and oh god you took a glance at the clock, 11:11pm. Suddenly the door swung open when you turned off the table lamp. The room was dark but you could still make out your boyfriend’s pouty face from the moonlight’s lights shining through the window. “I’m sorry baby”, you placed a hand on his cheek and apologized. He leaned in your touch and lifted you in bridal style and walked towards your shared bedroom.
Neuvillette laid you down gently in bed and scooped you in his arms, pulling you closer then spoons you. “I couldn’t sleep without you”, he tiredly mumbled. With a smile on your face you replied back, “I know, now go sleep Neuvi”. You turn and give him a quick kiss “Sweet dreams love”.

Tumblr media
Warnings: None but NSFW will be there in part 2 maybe 3.
Pickle x Afab reader
Plot: You are a new caretaker and decided to let a patient live at your house. Is he really your true love or is he just a patient?
Tumblr media
You were a new Caretaker at this job you got not so long ago, you took care of patients very well and everyone loved you. *Ring ring!* "Hello! What's up boss?" You said, "Hey I just wanted to ask if you were okay with taking care of this one patient. Nobody else offered to help him so we wanted to see if you were fine with it. He's not really good in the Building so we wanted him to stay with somebody who's willing to take care of him. Are you willing to?" He said with a desperate tone. You weren't used to having someone live with you since you never had a boyfriend, you were always bullied for being shy. You didn't have much friends but that didn't effect you that much. Did you want to take this path that could change your whole life? "I think I can handle it boss. What's his name?" You said nervously. "Thanks so much! We'll drop him off when you got off work 5pm right?" He said. "Yep I'm nervous to see him but this is fine!" You say biting your nails. What did you get yourself into. "Great. His name is Pickle by the way." He says before hanging up. "Pickle? Never heard of him before." You say in your head. You looked at the clock 4:58pm..You took a deep breath and packed up your lunch you just finished eating. You leave the Staff room and head home. You just got done taking a shower and was walking around panicking until you heard. *Knock Knock*, your heart dropped as your eyes opened wide you walked to the door getting ready to see this Pickle dude. You opened the door and see your boss and a tall figure that was about 7-8ft tall. I wonder what's down there *Snap snap* "Hey Y/n you good?" Your boss says snapping his fingers. "O-oh..yes I'm alright" You say with a shocked face. "Great he will be living here now before I go he doesn't know how to speak any language but he understands some English." He says looking at his watch. "Oh…well I'm sure I can help him." You say fiddling with your hands, "Great! I'll be heading out." Pickle looks at you with his head tilt to the side looking at your tiny figure. "H-hi Pickle..it's nice to meet you-" *Lick!* Did he just lick me.. You smear the slobber off you as he continues to sniff you. Touching your hair, you were wearing a night gown. He was touching the fabric of it until suddenly he lifted up your dress! "Hey!" You say kicking him with a slight blush on your face. You welcome him inside your house he takes a seat on the floor looking at the cartoon that was playing on the TV. "What the fuck did I just do.." You say in your head. "Pickle..?!" You say calling his name. His eye widen as he turned his head looking at you. "Are you hungry?" You rubbed your belly to show him as a sign as food just incase he didn't understand. He nodded his head and turned back to the TV. You smile a bit "Cute" you say smiling. You guys were eating your food and you looked at pickle to see how he was doing, his cheeks were full of food staring directly at you. You turn your head shyly as you continued eating your food. It was time for bed and you were a bit concerned where pickle was going to sleep, you weren't ready for him to sleep with you yet so you laided a bean bag that took a bit of space in your room with a blanket. shit idk what there called He thought it was a big rock at first since it was grey but once he laid down he was out like a light. You smiled as you fell asleep. Little did you know he was your True Love. Part 2 is coming soon.

Below is the song which served as inspiration of this part. I think it’s my favorite incorporation of the lyrics thus far.

Tumblr media
You had been anticipating the date with Ari all week. In your rush to leave, you didn’t even know what time to meet him. You had no idea of his shift schedule or what the true plan was, and it was putting you on edge.
Were you going to get dinner, or was it just drinks? Was there a different bar in town? You looked it up and found a bar two blocks away from that coffee shop, but was there another one? Did he say two blocks and actually mean four blocks? Could he count? Could you count?
What was the right time to go? Not everyone ate dinner at 5pm like you, what would a normal person think? Six, seven? Ugh, you couldn’t even fathom eating dinner at seven. Might as well go to bed at that time, honestly.
Living alone was great, you loved having your own schedules and routines, so branching off outside of it was difficult. You started to get annoyed, and honestly, hangry. You made the final decision that you would eat dinner, then head down to the bar and get a drink and wait. He had to show up sometime, right?
Tumblr media
You walked into the bar to hear the jukebox playing a slow country song. Neon lights and old pictures lined the walls, evidence of a well-worn and well-loved establishment. You couldn’t see Ari anywhere, so you walked toward the back and claimed a seat in the far corner of the bar.
The bartender made his way over to you, wiping his hands on a towel he threw over his shoulder. “Hey can I get you started with anything?”
“Well, I’m here to meet someone, so probably whatever’s best to not be absolutely plastered before he’s even here.”
He laughed and nodded, placing a coaster in front of you. “I gotcha, I think I have just the thing.”
You smiled gratefully as he turned away to get started.
He returned and slid the drink over to you and you took a sip. “This is perfect, thank you so much.”
“No problem. So you said you’re meeting someone? I might know them, so I can keep a look out for when they show up.” His hands rested against the bar as he leaned forward to engage in conversation.
“Um, his name’s Ari? We got coffee earlier this week, but kinda forgot to say exactly what time we’d be meeting tonight.”
The bartender laughed and nodded his head. “Ah, yes. I’m familiar. He’s a regular around here. I’m Sammy by the way, you new to town?”
He reached out his hand and you shook it in return, introducing yourself. “Nice to meet you. Yeah, I just moved in up in the mountains. I love it so far.”
He smiled back at you. “Oh, that’s great. Real beautiful views I bet, huh?”
You grinned down into your drink. “The best. Very beautiful, and very much all mine.”
“Well, I know the guy meeting you here shares in that that opinion. The mountains are his favorite place to be.” He pushed off the counter as another customer took a seat. He slid them a coaster and took their drink order, looking back at you as he made it.
“So Ari’s in here a lot? Should I be worried?” You laughed with a hint of uncertainty.
He sighed, looking down at his feet, before he raised his head and his gaze came back up to yours with a small smile on his face. “No. Not at all. I just know he went through a rough time awhile back, but he’s a lot better now.”
You nodded, taking in anything anyone could give you about this man. “And you’re the only woman he’s asked to meet here, or at all since then, as far as I’m concerned.” He tilted his head and looked at you knowingly. “If that’s what you’re worried about.”
You smiled and ran your finger around the rim of the glass. “Good to know. Thank you, Sammy.”
He gave you a curt nod, walking to check on his other customers while you leaned back in your barstool.
Come to think of it, Ari was the first one you had really put this time into since everything, too. There was just something about him and the way he made you feel appreciated and seen. There was something worth getting to know there.
Sure, you were nervous, who wouldn’t be? But you didn’t find yourself tripping over words, or trying to filter your thoughts like you usually felt you’d need to for a guy. Ari felt like the embodiment of comfort. But that’s what scared you. Because you’d been waiting here nearly an hour now. And for someone where everything meshed so perfectly, you so badly wanted it to continue. For it to be guaranteed and real. Genuine from the start. If Ari didn’t show up tonight, it would crush you, and honestly, any hope you had for men. That would be the sign to officially become a recluse, or maybe even a nun, who knows?
You were staring down at your empty drink, your eyes zoned out as these thoughts ran through your mind. Sammy grabbed your glass and replaced it with a fresh one, snapping you out of your trance. “This one’s on the house. I know Ari’s got some pretty weird shifts, so I can’t tell you what time he’ll come in, but this is one thing I can do.”
You smiled up at him, doing your best trying to make sure the sadness didn’t show through, as he grabbed a bowl of popcorn from a little further down the bar. He set down the wooden bowl before you. “You let me know if you want anything other than this.” He leaned against the bar on an elbow.
You gave him a thumbs up as you took a heavy gulp of your drink, half of it already gone. “Popcorn should be good for now, but I’m definitely gonna need another one of these.” You gasped, pointing to the drink.
Sammy nodded and got to work while throwing back over his shoulder, “I’m sure he’ll be here soon. He wouldn’t mess up something like this. He might just need a little patience.” Of course, he meant this in more ways than one.
Tumblr media
You promised yourself that as soon as you finished your third drink, you would be gone. When you made a move to take the first sip of the fourth, you watched the door open, assuming it was just like any other time tonight, a random patron coming through.
You were wrong though, across from you stood Ari, frantically looking around and breathing heavily. Sammy caught his eye first, pointing back to you with a thumb over his shoulder. Both of their heads turned towards you, Sammy’s wearing a grin that said ‘I told you so.’
Ari’s face held a more complex range of emotion. Relief that you hadn’t left yet, remorse for not giving you more details and evidently making you wait for so long. He took long strides toward you in the bar, and that’s when you noticed he was still in his ranger uniform, carrying a duffel bag.
“Hey, I’m so sorry I’m late. I know we didn’t specify a time, but this is way after I intended to get here. I had to deal with a call.”
You stood as he reached to give you a hug and you returned it. That was the first time the two of you had hugged each other, and it was so warm and all-consuming that you never wanted it to end. You could feel the way his whole body wrapped around you and firmly squeezed, almost like the best weighted blanket.
Ari released you, letting his hands trace down your arms until you were linked only at your fingertips. “It’s no problem. Is everything okay?”
Ari nodded. “Yeah, all is good now. It was just a kid who got separated from his parents on the trail. Are you okay?”
He dipped his head down in an attempt to catch your gaze which had found its way to the floor and stuck there. “Yeah, yeah, I’m good.”
He tried again to break through, eyes still searching for yours while his callused thumbs rubbed over your knuckles. “Are you sure? Because you were kinda drinking alone, all by yourself in this corner. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say I could almost see how blue you were just from your eyes alone.”
You finally gained the courage to look up at him, tears coating your lashes, making his gorgeous face too blurry to appreciate. “Yeah.” You squeaked out. “You’re not wrong. I almost thought you weren’t gonna come.”
Ari moved one of his hands to your cheek, wiping the single tear that was falling down. “I’d never do that to you, I’d never stand you up on purpose, I swear.”
You nodded, bringing up your hand and placing it over his. “I believe you. Now what’s up with the bag? Spare clothes?” You let out a small laugh and a sniffle.
Ari laughed and nodded. “Yeah, spare clothes. I rushed right here, couldn’t keep you waiting longer or risk missing you all together by stopping home first. I’m gonna go change really quick. I’ll be right back.”
You nodded and he kissed your knuckles, gaze lingering on your eyes, walking backwards until he had to turn around to make sure he didn’t bump into anything. You watched him glide past tables and into the back hallway towards the bathroom, sure to enjoy the view those shorts provided. Sammy came over to you and set down a coaster, along with a beer that must’ve been Ari’s usual. “I told you he’d make it.” You gave him a lopsided grin, to which he returned a wink.
Tumblr media
Ari in his ranger uniform was jaw-dropping, but Ari in regular street clothes was deadly. Once he had come back to you from the bathroom, he was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, his hair tucked under a ball cap.
He slid into the stool next to you and ordered some snacks from Sammy, offering to share, which was good, since you were way ahead of him alcohol-wise.
“I hope you don’t mind, it’s been a long day and I haven’t eaten since before noon. You’re welcome to have some, unless you want something of your own. Have you eaten yet?”
The corners of your lips turned up slightly at his concern. “Yeah, I ate before I came, Sammy told me you can have some weird shifts and I expected as much. But, I will definitely be stealing a few fries.”
He grinned down to you. “I wouldn’t expect any less.”
He sat there and continued to look into your eyes as your smile naturally faded before he spoke up again. “I really am sorry for being late. I should’ve given you a time, or asked to exchange numbers earlier into getting coffee when I knew I’d want to see you again.”
Your brain got caught up on what he said. He knew he wanted to see you again earlier in the coffee date? Not just because you had to leave so abruptly?
The truth was, Ari knew he had wanted to see you again way before then, even. But how do you ask a girl out when she just almost hit you with her car and it was entirely your fault? Well, he guessed he had figured it out the second time, at least.
He could see the blush start to form on your cheeks. “So could I get your number now so we don’t have to deal with that worry again?”
You simply nodded, reaching into your pocket to pull out your phone which had been happily tucked away since Ari arrived, as he did the same. There was no need for them when you were together, they were just a means to keep contact when you were apart.
After exchanging phones back, Sammy arrived with the food, and you talked with Ari for what felt like forever, but also the blink of an eye. Time passed quickly, yet stood still.
Then, you noticed a shift in his demeanor as the song on the jukebox switched to a new one.
“What? What was that, what’s going on right now?” You asked softly, gesturing to his face, as Ari looked down into his glass, running his fingers around the sides, collecting the condensation.
“It’s nothing, just been awhile since I’ve heard this song is all.” You gave a sympathetic nod.
“Does this have to do with a ‘hard time’ you were facing some months ago? Sammy told me something happened. You don’t have to go into any detail, but trust me, I can assure you that I get it.”
Ari looked up at you through his eyelashes. There was a new vulnerability in his features. It softened them, saddened them, and it killed you to see. He was so sweet with you when he first showed up, he deserved the same treatment in kind.
You shifted and hopped off your stool, holding out your hand for the man who now appeared even taller as he still sat in the chair. “Come on, ya bear. Dance with me. Make some new memories.”
He grabbed your hand and returned a smize, following you to the small section of open floor to the side of the bar. He pulled you close with a twirl, your face showing surprise at the smooth move which juxtaposed his mood just moments ago.
The two of you swayed to the music, looking deeply into each other’s eyes. Your hands crept from his waist, up his abs and chest, before they snaked around his neck. Sure, you were copping a feel discreetly, you appreciated the hardness that lied under his shirt, which hid nothing, but that wasn’t what this was about. This was about the two of you, sharing a moment together. One that was well-deserved on both ends. One that should never be shared with another.
It was like you could see the clouds breaking apart in his eyes. A storm which once raged on, thunder rolling, was getting blown away, replaced with light, a new twinkle.
You moved your hands to the sides of his face, the scruff of his beard rough against your palms as you whispered to him. “Rain stops falling. Hearts unbreak.”
You didn’t need to know his past, not unless he wanted to share with you, but what you could appreciate was being here with him now. And the fact that he was letting you in, letting you see his eyes and smile that could light up a room. What fool could ever hurt this man, tell him goodbye?
Ari was thinking the same in the shared moment. You were made to be taken dancing under these lights, he hoped you let the things that hurt you before ride away. Darkness couldn’t last forever, and he was finally, truly seeing the light.
His eyes shifted between yours as the song came to an end, and he caught a glimpse as you licked your lips. He leaned down slowly, wanting to be closer to you, just as you raised up on your toes and smashed your lips against his. The feeling was stronger than the drink in your hand before. You felt Ari’s teeth against your lips as he pulled away with a beaming smile, you doing the same, before going and sitting back down, two fresh drinks sitting there, courtesy of Sammy. He had been looking on at the two of you dancing, an approving smile on his face which you both missed.
Tumblr media
You sat and talked for hours more until the bar was closing. By that time, you knew you were in no state to drive, so Ari offered to take you home. You gladly accepted, Ubers were scarce up here.
Ari guided you out of the bar and into the chilly mountain air, draping a jacket from his bag over your shoulders that he knew you’d need. He helped you up into the passenger side of his truck and closed the door, jogging around to the other side as you scooted over to the middle of the bench seat.
He got up in the driver’s side, smiling when he saw you had moved closer and started the truck, following your directions to climb higher in elevation. At some point in the drive, he hand crept closer to yours, his pinky reaching out, as you noticed and happily obliged him, interlacing your fingers, pulling his arm towards your chest and kissing the back of his hand.
When he pulled into your driveway finally, Ari looked over to you, your head snuggled up against his shoulder, hands still woven together. You blinked up at him through your sleepy eyelashes, blanketed in a slightly buzzed and lovesick haze. He smiled at the sight before him as he cracked a joke.
“So what do you have this house here, way up on a mountain for? What are you, royalty? You think you’re some sort of queen?”
You laughed in response. “Oh no, a queen? You give me too much credit. I think I’d consider myself more of a duchess.”
He softly smiled back at you. “Okay then, Duchess, let’s get you inside.”

Bonus A/N: (This is fitting for both my mention of neon signs early in the chapter, as well as the chapter title.) Neon signs have been around for over a century! They work by sending an electrical current through elemental neon gas (housed in a glass tube shaped into lettering and such), which excites electrons. When these electrons ‘relax,’ they emit that extra energy at a wavelength that shows up as reddish orange light. If you see a ‘neon sign’ that glows a different color, it’s not actually the element neon. It could be another gas that emits a different energy/wavelength of light. This could be argon (blue, green, yellow, or white), helium (pink/red), xenon (lavender), krypton (yellow-white), or any combination of these stable noble gases and other elements.

All or Nothing - Johnny Knoxville
Pairing: Johnny Knoxville x Fem!Reader (goes by “Babydoll”)
Sequel to Drunk
Based on ‘All or Nothing’ by Theory of a Deadman
Tumblr media
NOT MY GIF
Y/N zipped her suitcase when she heard the door open.
“Babydoll, it’s me!” Johnny called out.
“Hey babe!” She walked out of the bedroom, greeting him with a quick kiss. “I just finished packing, but didn’t know if there was anything else you needed me to bring.”
This was their first vacation as a couple. Granted, it was more of a long weekend trip than anything and it was Las Vegas, but that didn’t damper her excitement.
“Just you,” he said. “ Although I don’t know why you packed clothes considering we’re not leaving the hotel bed.”
She rolled her eyes and pat his shoulder. “Nice try, Clapp.”
He pointed a finger at her. “Hey, you’re just as horny as I am.”
She folded her arms across her chest. “I thought that’s what you liked about me?”
“It’s actually what I like the most about you and I never said it was a problem. I’m just merely pointing it out.”
She smirked. “Yeah, yeah. Let me grab my bag.”
Johnny exhaled as he reminded himself to keep his cool. Since his confession to Whitney about his love for Y/N, he planned out what he believed was the perfect way to tell her.
He tried to shut off the noise in his head that questioned if he was sure it was a good idea.
“PJ?”
He looked up to see Y/N with her suitcase. “I’m sorry, Cutie. What did you say?”
“Are you ok?” she laughed.
“Yeah, I just was deep in thought about something,” he said. “You ready to go?”
=====================================
The lights of Las Vegas twinkled even in the golden hue of the sunset.
Johnny and Y/N rented a car as they drove down the Vegas strip.
“This is amazing,” Y/N remarked, leaning against the car window.
“I can’t believe this is your first time in Vegas,” Johnny chuckled. “I would’ve thought you and Whitney would’ve taken a girls trip here.”
She shrugged. “We talked about doing it a couple times. I was more interested than she was, but she was down for it.”
She clicked her teeth. “Man, this is incredible! I mean, we‘re really in Vegas!”
“It is pretty incredible,” Johnny chuckled.
The closer he was getting to the hotel, the more his nerves were getting to the best of him.
She turned her head to him. “Don’t judge me, but I actually read your Vegas article in ‘Big Brother’ before I joined ‘Jackass.’”
He glanced at her. “Really?”
“Yeah! I wanted to get to know who you and Jeff were before I went on to set so I did my research.”
“Did you roll your eyes when you read it.”
“Not at all! I thought it was fantastic.”
He grinned, glancing over at her again. “Fantastic, huh?”
“You have such a distinct style when you write,” she said. “I couldn’t put it down.”
“This your way of telling me you had a crush on me before coming to set?”
She shook her head. “Nice try.”
“That’s not a ‘no’, Babydoll.”
He looked over to see her smiling. He knew her answer.
=====================================
“This is…wow.”
Y/N set down her suitcase and made her way to the window. Pulling back the curtain, she gazed over how high up the hotel room was and just how small the people down below looked.
The view of Sin City she’d had was indescribable.
Johnny came up from behind, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“You like it?” he asked, already knowing the answer.
She turned, beaming at him. “Thank you,” she said. “I really can’t thank you enough.”
“Well, I know how you could,” he joked.
She let out a small laugh. “I’m serious,” she went on. “You didn’t have to go all out on me, but the fact you did…I…I don’t know what to say other than thank you.”
In that pause, Johnny knew exactly what she was trying to say and suddenly, everything felt a little easier.
But the moment wasn’t right yet.
“As much as I want to bend you over and fuck you stupid, I did make dinner reservations,” he said.
She threw her arms around his neck. “What time are they?”
“5pm. It’s 4 now.”
“Damn,” she mumbled, lowering her head.
Johnny lifted her chin with his finger. “Hey now. We still have the night.”
======================================
Johnny wasn’t sure if he was gonna make it. Not when Y/N walked out in her little black halter dress that made him want to throw out all his plans.
“You’re killing me in that dress,” he told her as they walked into the restaurant.
“And would it be such a horrible way to go?” she remarked.
“No m’am it would not.”
The restaurant was fancy, but not overwhelmingly fancy. While both preferred the intimacy of a dive bar, this was fine enough.
“To our first getaway,” Y/N toasted. “May we not kill each other.”
Johnny laughed as he clinked his glass with hers. “I think we’ll be fine. We already survived two plane rides.”
“Very true,” she agreed.
After ordering their meals, Johnny decided it was time to get the ball rolling.
“What was your first impression of me?” he asked.
It was a bold question, but one he felt ok asking. It wasn’t as though they’d had a rocky start.
Still, he was curious.
“You were incredibly confident,” she answered. “I was actually blown away by how confident you were. I mean, I was watching you and Jeff work out the logistics of this stunt and you just…you were so sure of yourself. And then you smiled and I just…”
She chuckled softly. “It’s my favorite smile in the world.”
He wanted to melt right then and there. “Yeah?”
“It’s like filled with the purest amount of joy,” she said. “The first time you smiled at me, I thought I was gonna lose my mind. It still makes me feel that way.”
This was gonna be easier than he thought.
“What was yours?” she asked.
“To be perfectly honest, when I first heard about you, I wondered why the hell Jeff agreed to hire you,” Johnny admitted, eliciting a chuckle from Y/N. “But then you came on set and you threw yourself into it without a second thought, even when you were scared.”
“Well, I knew I had to prove myself somehow,” she shrugged. She then leaned on the table. “Did you know that I liked you? Like before that night at the bar?”
Johnny smiled. “I didn’t until the day I drove you back to the hotel. I was so nervous that I was gonna crash or something. And then I remember seeing from the corner of my eye smiling at me, and somehow I just figured it out.”
Her eyes widened. “You were nervous?!”
“Oh absolutely.”
“You gave me no indication you were nervous!” She leaned back in chair. “You hid it really well.”
He pulled back his lips. “I’m sorry I waited another week to do something about it other than call you ‘Babydoll.’ I wanted you so badly, but all I could think about were the ways I could fuck it up and lose you and that scared the shit out of me.”
She reached across the table and grabbed his hand. “You don’t need to apologize for that,” she assured. “You needed some time and that’s fine.”
“What do you mean?” he questioned.
“Just that you needed more time to make a move,” she explained. “It needed to be the right moment and you eventually found it. Besides, I could’ve been more forward but I was also scared. Considering what my track record with guys, I figured I’d scare you off too.”
She gave his hand a squeeze. “I’d say it worked out though.”
He smiled. “It sure did.”
==================================
The restaurant wasn’t far from the hotel, so they walked back hand in hand. Johnny could feel the knots in his stomach as he felt the moment coming.
“PJ?”
Johnny broke out of his thoughts as Y/N turned to face him.
“Are you ok?” she asked.
“Yeah, I just…” He licked his lips. “I could lose everything tomorrow and still be the happiest man in the world as long as I had you. You’re all that I need.”
That’s when he took her hands in his. “Y/N, I love you.”
Her lips parted as his words knocked into her. Her face softened as her heart leapt from chest.
Her glimmering eyes crinkled as her lips curved into a huge smile. “I love you too, PJ.”
He grabbed her face as he kissed her.
The moment had been worth that wait.

“So, my place or yours?”
“What?”
“My place or yours?”
Ethan looked to the side in thought, “Oh! My house is fine, unless you want to do it at yours?”
“I’m fine with that! Now, should we work on the essay before the poster board?”
“Sure, that sounds good to me.”
“Okay, then we’ll do that today and work on the poster board throughout the week. After school today works for you, right?”
“Yep. Um, around what time are you planning on coming? Any time is fine, but you know, just to be prepared."
"I think about five, if that’s fine?"
Ethan nodded, "That works."
-
As soon as he left for lunch, he walked over to the cafeteria to find Benny. He found him and Rory sitting at their usual lunch table.
"Hey." Ethan smiled as he joined Benny and Rory.
Benny looked up from his lunch, "Finally. What took you so long?"
Ethan rolled his eyes, taking a seat in between his friends. "I’m only a minute late."
“Only?”
“So did you get assigned partners in Chemistry?” Rory finally spoke up, accidentally interrupting Benny at the perfect time.
“I did, actually. Y/N. You know them?”
Benny’s eyes widened. “Of course I know Y/N. They’re so hot.”
Rory paused, “Wait, Y/N from our English?”
Benny nodded, and once Rory realized who it was, his eyes widened too. “Man, you’re lucky.”
Ethan scoffed at his friends' reactions. "Well we've been getting along pretty well. They’re really, really smart. And they’re coming over today, actually."
Benny wiggled his eyebrows immediately. "Coming over, huh? Is this a study session or...?"
Ethan nudged Benny. "Come on, man. Obviously a study session. This is like our fourth time talking ever.”
“Ethan. You know you guys have talked way more than that. And you know you have a crush on them.”
“Whatever.”
Rory chimed in, "Well, it sounds like a good time. Just remember to be yourself and use protection."
Ethan choked on air, “Rory, stop saying things like that out of nowhere.”
“Sorry.”
-
As the lunch period ended, the boys went their separate ways to attend their afternoon classes. But Ethan's mind couldn't help but wander to the upcoming study session with you. He was growing more excited with each minute, anticipating the chance to spend time with you outside of school.
He knew the whole point was to do a project, but Benny was right. He did have a crush on you, which only made this study session more nerve-wracking.
The final bell rang, signaling the end of the day, and Ethan hurriedly packed up his stuff. Thoughts of the study session with you consumed his mind, mixing with the butterflies in his stomach. He couldn't shake off the nervousness.
Benny went over to Ethan’s for a bit before going home and helped him clean up his room a bit.
“Stop looking so nervous, you’re gonna freak them out.”
“I am nervous.”
“No shit.”
-
Benny left Ethan’s house at around 4:15, but now it’s 5PM. Ethan smoothed out his hair, clothes, and bed, but it was all off still. It didn’t matter how much he straightened everything out, his heart was racing.
He took a deep breath. Knowing that you could be here at any second made him anxious.
Just as the thought crossed his mind, the doorbell rang. Ethan ran down the stairs, but just as he was about to get to the door, his mother opened it and greeted you, revealing an inviting smile.
Ethan’s mother, who hadn’t been informed about the study session, still invited you in with open arms. She remembered you faintly from Ethan’s thirteenth birthday party.
“What’s your name again, sweetheart?”
“Oh, Y/N, nice to see you again!”
Ethan interrupted quietly, “We’re gonna be working on a chemistry assignment.”
“Oh, okay! I saw the backpack but didn’t even think about it. Good luck, guys!”
You both thanked his mother, but when you reached the top of the stairs, she called out again.
“Ethan! Leave the door a bit open!”
Ethan shut his eyes in embarrassment but you smiled to yourself as you walked behind him.
"Sorry about the door thing."
"Don't worry about it," you replied with a gentle laugh. "It's sweet that she cares. Now, chemistry."
You entered Ethan's room behind him, and sat on the bed as soon as you saw it. His room seemed to reflect his personality almost perfectly, from the neatly arranged books on the shelves to the posters on the walls.
As you unpacked your bag on the bed and ranted about the work, Ethan couldn't help but steal glances at you. He admired how you used your hands as support to what you’re saying. He found himself becoming even more drawn to you by the second.
“Did you hear me?”
“Oh, yeah. Yes.”
“So you think we should burn all of our papers and poster boards from chemistry.”
“Oh, no. Definitely no. Sorry, I’m a little tired.”
You smiled at his gentle expression, “It’s okay. Me too.”
You both laughed, officially breaking the tension in the room.
The fatigue seemed to fade away as you dived into the chemistry assignment. The room seemed to freshen up with new ideas and a few “Google it!”s here and there.
Ethan found different ways to word things while you wrote them down, making it an effective system for the both of you.
-
Time flew by, and before you knew it, the room was soaked in the soft glow of the evening sunset. The chemistry assignment was complete, and a fresh sense of accomplishment filled the air. It was barely six thirty-ish.
As you sat side by side on his bed, a comfortable silence settled between you.
You flopped onto your back and closed your eyes, feeling his eyes on you still.
“I know you’re looking at me.”
You let out a giggle as his words quickly stumbled, keeping your eyes closed as you enjoyed the moment.
“I’m just teasing, Ethan. You can look at me however much you want to.” You opened your eyes now, looking straight into his.
Ethan's cheeks turned a dusty shade of pink, and he tried averting his gaze, but couldn’t despite feeling some embarrassment. He had always struggled with social cues and expressing his emotions well, but with you, he felt comfort that allowed him to be himself.
A shy smile played on his lips. "You’re really pretty."
“You’re prettier.”
“I didn’t mean to be so forward but... I really like spending time with you." Ethan shut his eyes, realizing he did it again.
You smiled softly, "I like spending time with you too, Ethan. You're different from anyone I've met before, in a good way."
His eyes met yours again, and you could see a hint of surprise in them. “I’m just... awkward."
"Well you are, but it's cute." you replied with a playful grin.
Ethan's cheeks flushed a deeper shade of pink, and he shyly scratched the back of his neck. "Thanks, Y/N."
Feeling a surge of courage, you sat up and scooted closer to him on the bed, your shoulders touching now. "You know, Ethan, studying doesn't have to be the only thing we do today."
Ethan’s eyes practically bulged out of his head, "What do you mean?"
You laughed at his teenage boy mind and playfully nudged his shoulder. "I mean, we've been working so hard on this assignment. How about we do something fun? Ooo... or go somewhere?”
"Like where?"
You thought for a moment before an idea popped into your head. "Well, there's a new ice cream parlor that just opened like five minutes away from here. I heard they have some weird ass flavors. Are you down?"
You already stood up and grabbed your stuff, including your keys, waiting for his answer.
"Sure!"
You and Ethan quickly made your way out of his room and down the stairs. Ethan called out a quick, “I’ll be back, mom!”
Ethan's mother glanced at the two of you, “Be back before it’s too dark!” A knowing smile played on her lips, and she waved you both off as you headed out.
The drive to the ice cream parlor was filled with lighthearted conversation and laughter. You exchanged stories about your lives outside of school and laughed with each other easily. It felt natural being with Ethan, and he seemed to relax more now.
Arriving at the ice cream parlor, you both stared at the colorful array of flavors and toppings.
After heavy consideration from the both of you, you made your choices and found a cozy corner to sit at to enjoy your ice creams. He paid for everything despite your arguments.
As you savored the ice cream, the conversation flowed effortlessly once again between you. You talked about some embarrassing moments from your pasts but they didn’t even feel embarrassing any more. With each passing minute, the connection between you deepened, and the initial nervousness and shyness melted away.
As you finished, you grabbed your keys again and looked at him. “I guess I should drive you home, huh?”
Ethan nodded, a hint of disappointment crossing his face.
“Yeah..”
He understood that it was getting late, and you both had responsibilities to tend to, but he really didn’t wanna leave.
As you walked towards the car, Ethan couldn't help but feel a sense of longing. He wanted to spend more time with you, get to know you better, and maybe even explore the possibility of something more than just a study session.
As you drove through the quiet streets, Ethan glanced at you from the corner of his eye, contemplating whether he should make some sort of move or not.
“I’m gonna crash if you keep looking at me. What’s up?”
Ethan's heart skipped a beat at your words, and he quickly turned his attention back to the road, feeling a flush of embarrassment creeping up his neck. He gathered his thoughts, realizing that he had been staring at you without realizing it.
"Sorry, I was just... thinking," he stammered, his voice having a hint of nervousness.
You chuckled softly, glancing at him with a smile. "What were you thinking about?"
Ethan took a deep breath, "Well, I was thinking about how much fun I had today, not just studying but also the ice cream. And... I was wondering if maybe we could do this again sometime?"
A smile spread across your face as you finally pulled up to his house.
"I'd love that, Ethan. I had a great time too."
You both sat in the car for a moment, the engine idling, as the weight of the unspoken tension filled the air. Ethan mustered up some courage, leaning closer to you.
"Can I ask you something?"
You nodded, your heart racing in anticipation. “Yeah.”
He hesitated for a moment, his eyes searching yours for reassurance. "Would it be okay if I kissed you?"
Your heart skipped a beat, and a surge of excitement rushed through your veins. The anticipation hung in the air as you met Ethan's gaze, your eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and desire. The moment felt surreal, and you could feel the tension building between you.
“Y-”
Before you could respond, the sound of a guy yelling disrupted the intimate atmosphere. You both turned your heads towards the noise only to see Benny standing outside of your car, waving his arms frantically.
You hesitantly rolled the passengers side window down.
"Hey, lovebirds! Don't forget about me!" Benny shouted with a shit-eating grin on his face.
Ethan groaned in exasperation, slumping back in his seat. "Benny, seriously? Can't you give us a moment?"
Benny shrugged, still grinning ear to ear. "Sorry, but I couldn't resist. You two were about to have your magical movie moment, weren’t you?”
You couldn't help but laugh at the unexpected interruption. "Well, Benny, you certainly know how to kill the mood."
Benny feigned offense, placing a hand over his heart. "Hey, I'm just here to provide some comic relief. Besides, I thought you two might appreciate an audience for your grand romantic gesture."
Ethan shook his head, trying to hide his amusement. "There was no grand romantic gesture, Benny. We were just having a conversation." You nodded in agreement.
Benny raised an eyebrow suggestively. "Oh, really? Just a conversation, huh? Well, I guess I'll leave you guys to continue your 'conversation' then." Benny began making his way to Ethan’s house, but not without making kissy faces at you two first.
“I’ma be in your room, Ethan.”
“I don’t care!”
“Love you too!” With a final wink, Benny walked away, leaving you and Ethan alone in the car again.
You couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation. "Well, that was unexpected."
Ethan chuckled, his cheeks still tinged with a hint of pink. "Yeah, Benny has a knack for timing, doesn't he?"
You leaned closer to Ethan, a playful glint in your eyes. "So, my place or yours?"
Ethan blinked, momentarily thrown off by the sudden question. "What?"
You smiled softly at his confusion. "I'm just teasing. How about we save that kiss for another time?"
Ethan let out a relieved breath, a smile forming on his lips. "Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. Let’s hang out again soon?”
You nodded in agreement, "I'd like that."
Ethan looked at you one more time, “I guess I’ve gotta go.”
“I guess you do.”
“Goodnight, see you at school.”
“Goodnight!”
As Ethan got out of the car, you watched him walk towards his house, feeling a sense of contentment.
You drove off to your house, while Ethan was being interrogated by a smirking Benny.
"So, how did it go? Did you make your move?"
Ethan shook his head, trying to hide his disappointment. "No, Benny. We were interrupted by you, remember?"
"My bad. But on the first not even date?"
"More than you’ve ever done. But it's fine, we're hanging out again soon."
Benny's eyes lit up with excitement as he ignored the first statement, "That's great news! See, I didn’t ruin everything this time!”
“Now, tell me. What’d it feel like when you almost kissed them?”

Welcome to the Project Sekai battle of bisexual lighting!
Bisexual lighting is the simultaneous use of pink, purple, and blue lighting to represent bisexual characters. (Wikipedia)
18 project sekai cards i selected that i believe have bisexual lighting and shoved into a bracket.
Rules:
- I'm not gonna tell you what to vote based on. You can vote for your favorite character/ship, a character you hc as bi, a card you just simply like better, or whatever! this tournament literally happened just because i saw kohane's beat eater card and went "huh, bisexual lighting, cool" then saw tsukasa's wonder Halloween card and went "huh, bisexual lighting. i have an Idea"
- all polls will last 24 hours, finals will last a week
- be nice
- uhh not much other stuff. Since this doesn't run off submissions theres no rules for that so
As you can see, the bracket is a little wonky, so there'll be what I'll call a round 0 before the rest of the bracket (which is: Rooftop Chat (Untrained) vs Over The Fence (Trained) and Top-Notch Server (Trained) vs A Quick Breather (Trained). That round will start tomorrow (4/25/23) at 5pm EST. After that, the rest of the bracket will proceed on Thursday (4/27/23) at the same time.
Happy voting!

Tumblr media
Months later, you finally set foot back into London.
You opened the door to your newly acquired safe house, the one of many scattered throughout the world. Just like the others, it was purchased under an alias.
It wasn’t much, a simple old apartment complex on the top floor. The perfect ‘home’ for someone who needs to go as they please and to be unseen. Of course, there was another person who shared the floor with you. A nice older lady who mostly kept to herself, which was another reason you purchased the place. You didn’t need a nosy neighbor constantly pestering you about your life and whereabouts. Then again, you supposed as long as there was a roof over your head and a comfortable bed to sleep in, you didn’t care where you were. However, you will admit the balcony was nice.
A plain brickwork and stone wall with a perch perfect for planters. There was a tiny circular table and rusted metal chair left behind by the previous owners. In another life, you could imagine waking up each morning with a warm drink and sitting out here to watch the sunrise over the cityscape. In this life, all you saw was a perfect escape route. You could use a grappling hook and lower to the street fading into the crowds and maze of the buildings; or you could easily leap over to the nearby building and sprint across rooftops.
For now, you dreamt of that simple life.
A life in the light.
A life with someone.
With Steven.
You could imagine him next to you now watching the sunset together. His voice and presence were so clear in your mind’s eye despite the distance and time away. He would smile that adorable, goofy, smile and spew about Egyptian lore or possibly about a new interest he discovered. You would hold onto every word he spoke, and lean into him basking in his warmth.
Yeah, that would be nice. Maybe, some day.
The sun continued to dip behind buildings bathing the sky in orange and pink hues. A timer began to countdown in your head.
10.
Lights flickered on from the street lamps to inside houses.
9.
Kids who were playing on the street were now being called home.
8.
Headlights on the dwindling cars on the streets flashed on.
7.
Curtains were pulled closed.
6.
Front doors shut and locked in an odd cacophony.
5.
Small shops’ lights turned off for the night as the owners locked the doors behind them.
4.
While other lights, flashy neon signs, beckoned those who seeked sins for the night.
3.
Those who stayed in the shadows, and behind hidden corners, during the day walked freely out in the open.
2.
Laughter, haunting and resounded, bellowed.
1.
Darkness.
Night has arrived.
A twisted smile grew on your lips. Tonight, you were out to play.
Although, you just arrived the night before, you caught wind of an antique recently auctioned off. An antique, specifically a necklace enriched with stones so precious that supposedly used to belong to a well known historical figure: Marie Antoinette. And you had your sights set on it. You could easily double, maybe triple, the price sold at the auction.
The only issue was it was held inside the walls of a well respected family that came from old money: parents, one kid, with a full staff employed including a butler, chef, and maids. But, you liked the challenge.
And, luck shone on you.
The kid had a school play tonight, all the maids left after 5pm, the chef was excused earlier for the night due to the play, and the butler would accompany the family acting as their chauffeur. The house would be empty. Everything aligned perfectly. Of course, the security system on their penthouse would be activated, but no security system could hold you back.
Strolling through the apartment into your bedroom, you opened up your closest. Very little clothes hung up, you needed to do some shopping later, but for now you crouched down. You moved aside the two pairs of shoes you owned, and knocked on the wall. Nothing happened at first. Then it popped. A small square popped open revealing a suitcase inside.
You grabbed the suitcase tossing it onto the bed.
This was everything you needed. All you ever needed truly.
Opening it up, a black outfit was neatly folded off to the left. A tablet with a handful of phones was tucked into the top lid, and off to the right were weapons and gadgets. You smirked to yourself.
Let’s get to work.
Your outfit was similar to techwear: all black, loose fitting for mobility, and still breathable. Cargo pants - with pouches and thigh straps wrapped around your legs - stuffed into high laced combat boots. A thin turtleneck tucked into the pants and a jacket - it resembled a leather jacket with a hood, but unknown to others it was woven with Kevlar. Leather gloves covered your fingers, with one wrist wearing a tiny screen and the other had a cuff similar to a wide bracelet but was in fact a grappling hook. A mask that covered from the nose down with two ventilations. However, only one was operational, the other one distorted your voice. A clever trick if you said so yourself. And lastly, you dawned goggles that could nearly do everything from night vision to binoculars. A few knives were hidden on your body, along with two batons, and a couple other gadgets were tucked into the pouches and other pockets.
You were ready.
Flicking up your hood, you sprinted out of your bedroom, through your apartment, and out onto your balcony. You didn’t stop or hesitate. You leapt then tucked and rolled onto the adjacent roof. Popping back up, you ran into the direction of your next target.
After more building hopping, you stood on an opposite building, another extravagant apartment complex, across from the penthouse. You sunk into the shadows and pressed a button on the goggles. Night vision switched on.
Empty. Barren.
Your eyes scanned over to one of the few balconies and landed on the one leading to an office. You zoomed in your sight. A pristine glass case rested against a wall. Inside was a stunning necklace with gems ranging in the size of a golf ball to a pinkie nail. Your gaze shifted. Green lights blinked in the corners of the room and at the top of the balcony doors: cameras, the security system.
You switched off your goggles and glanced down at the tablet on your wrist, the high tech compact computer. Your fingers were swift as you input one of the many kill switches at your disposal. Back door entrances you’ve collected over the years. No matter how advanced, no matter the brand, you could crack it. Security systems were all the same. They all served one purpose: to keep everyone out.
But, they couldn’t stop a ghost.
After a few more seconds, you sent out the code and within seconds the blinking lights ceased. They won’t reactivate until you say so. Taking aim, you fired your grappling hook to a spot above the office balcony. You stepped up to the edge of the roof and looked down below. You had to be at least five floors up. One wrong move, one slip, that would be it.
But, you felt nothing. You were an eerie calm. Nothing frightened you, nothing fazed you.
Jumping, the wind whipped threatening to yank your hood off. It screamed to turn back, scared to stay on the ground. But, you didn’t listen. Never did. The grappling hook, your trusty guide, swung you over to the other side safely and swiftly. You gently landed on the balcony on the balls of your feet and retracted your hook. Slowly and quietly, you opened the door. It didn’t even creak or groan, it simply swung open with surprising ease. Stepping inside, you darted over to the glass case and began your work to carefully remove the necklace from inside.
But, you neglected one thing: human error.
You didn’t think anyone was home because no one should be. You were wrong. You didn’t account for the fact life was never so easy, and that people can be unpredictable, that events can change on a whim.
Such as, the butler didn’t leave.
He felt woozy earlier and his employers suggested he stay behind to get rest, and they would hire a cab. He laid in bed for a bit after the family left, but soon his throat grew dry. He got up to grab a glass of water. To get to the kitchen from his room, he needed to pass by the office. He needed to pass by you.
And he did.
He saw you through the cracks of the door.
You also didn’t account for loyalty, for the carnal need to protect those you love. You should have. You knew better.
The butler, who served this family for about a decade or more, who was with the couple before they married, and who watched their son slowly grow into a fine young man, would do anything for them.
Anything.
Wrapped in your own world, you finally had your hands on the necklace. The weight of it surprised you which quickly turned into excitement. Oh, yes, you’ll definitely make a lot with this score.
Then you heard it. A light step, a shift of weight.
Shit.
The butler burst through the door, charging at you with a butcher knife in his hand.
Shoving the necklace into a punch, you instantly dodged his attack. The older man swung with such precision and gusto. He was definitely trained to some degree.
Fuck.
You evaded each of his attacks, but you couldn’t disengage. He kept you here, whether to distract you for cops to arrive or to protect this home. He lunged again.
So be it.
You grabbed his wrist and slammed his wrist down on the desk, hoping to break his grip. But, it didn’t faze him. He swung his free hand, hitting you across your jaw. You stumbled back a few feet. Just enough for him to try again.
He aimed for your stomach, he aimed with all of his strength behind it. You didn’t think, you acted.
There was a way out, a way with minimal damage.
As he lunged again, you grabbed his first once more. You twisted his arm around using his own momentum and plunged the knife into his side. Or you tried.
You aimed for his side, a place where you could avoid major organs. A place you can easily slide in the knife; an injury that would scare him more than harm him. He would survive. And you would be gone, escaped back through the balcony.
But, he moved.
He twisted his body trying to break free, trying to avoid the knife. And instead, it plunged into his stomach. Directly in the middle.
He gasped.
His eyebrows shot up to his forehead. His eyes the size of dinner plates as it shuffled through different emotions: shock, disbelief, then fear. His head tipped downward, staring numbly at the knife buried deep within his stomach.
Your heart pounded in your ears like the heavy beat of death marching forward. Your breathing spiked, now fleeting with every inhale.
Oh, no, no, no. This wasn’t - oh god.
The man staggered backwards. Your hand flew out to grab him, but missed. Your fingers grazed over his shoulder. The knife sli out with a sickening ease. A vital mistake. Red gushed out. It painted his clothes, the carpet, and your hands. You ran forward pressing your hands onto his stomach as he crumbled backwards to the floor.
“Shit,” you hissed, applying pressure.
“Arthur, we’re -“
Another mistake, another human error.
You didn’t hear the front door open, you didn’t hear the family barging in. Most of all, you failed to hear the boy as he sprinted through the apartment cheerful, and delighted, to see an old friend. A friend who felt unwell, and the young boy who worried immensely about him, enough so to leave the school play early. A friend who now laid, dying in the middle of his father’s office choking on his own blood.
All thanks to you. You with his blood soaking your gloves, you with the knife still in your grip.
The monster.
In that moment, you rushed forward slamming the door shut in front of the boy’s wide fearful eyes then sprinted out through the balcony. The knife was left discarded on the floor, along with the necklace. You tossed it aside as if it physically burned you.
Damn it all.
Taking the same route coming in, you leapt off the building zipping to the other side. The screams of the mother shook you to your core. However, the sounds of the boy crying will haunt you for eternity.
You scrambled up to the rooftop then ran.
Ran and ran and ran.
You didn’t even try to make your way home, you simply wanted distance from that place. With every step, you struggled not to fall. But, you still did. You skidded across rooftops, only to pop back up and sprint more. Your legs burned while your lungs failed to get enough air.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
And when you finally couldn’t run anymore, when you felt you were a safe distance away - to not hear any sort of sirens - you doubled over.
You yanked down your mask along with your goggles. You coughed almost trying to throw up. Your eyes stung as tears spilled. Your hands, your black gloves, were covered in blood. You could barely see it in the overcast light, but you could feel it. It seeped inside. You ripped them off, shoving them into your jacket pocket.
You squeezed your eyes shut unleashing a silent scream.
Why did it go that way? Why? Why? Why?
You weren’t new to taking a life, but you tended to avoid it at all cost. You haven’t killed anyone since - you shook your head. It didn’t matter. The butler was innocent. He was just protecting what he loved. You understood that clearly.
Taking a deep shaky breath, you tried to center yourself.
But, the night would only get worse.
Off in the distance, unbeknownst to you, a man in all white leapt from building to building. A god, with a bird skull as a head carrying a staff with a crescent moon on top, accompanied the man. But, he was unseen by all.
“Marc,” the god, Khonshu, said.
The man under the hood skidded to a stop. “Yeah?”
“Over there.” Khonshu pointed with his staff. On the rooftop, a person - draped in all black - paced then began furiously kicking a bulky unit. The faint rapid thud echoed in the silent night. “The scent of blood lingers on them.”
He knew what it meant. Khonshu didn’t need to say anything else. He sprinted over to the person.
Adrenaline still pumped through your veins. So, you heard your assailant first: loose fabric whipping, heavy approaching footsteps, and the singing of metal whizzing through the air.
You moved aside. A simple step. Enough for the dagger to skim past your face. You snapped your head over. What you expected paled in comparison to what was actually approaching: a man dawned in an all white garb with a cape. His face was covered in wrappings, and his eyes glowed an eerie blue, nearly white.
He appeared as a demented grim reaper.
This fucking day.
You pulled up your mask and goggles. You now had a split second to decide what to do next: run or fight. And you did what you always do: run. You ran over the ledge ready to jump to the next building. But, like always your opponents chose differently. The cape crusader was on top of you, and side tackled you.
You skidded across the rooftop on your back. Rolling over and getting onto your hands and knees, you glared up at your assailant.
He didn’t waste time. He swung his leg to kick you in the stomach. You narrowly missed his attack as you threw yourself backwards. His boot blew past the tip of your nose and the gust of the kick almost knocked back your hood. Spinning around, you popped up only to duck a second later as he tried to punch your face. Punch after punch, kick after kick, you dodged each of his tracks as a few clipped you.
You tried to back away, but it only invited him to come closer. He wasn’t allowing you to breathe or think. He wanted you right here in front of him.
With each evasion, frustration welled up inside you. The frustration that never truly faded from earlier, it was merely pushed aside and now has returned tenfold. He could one night go this wrong? That man, that innocent man, you hoped he would survive, but your doubts screamed otherwise. Now, this man, this wannabe superhero, was attacking you senselessly. Did he know? Or was he simply a psychotic person looking for their joy in fights? With the way he was attacking, he was out for blood. Maybe he was the latter in a more twisted way.
He touched the moon symbol on his chest, the only piece of color he bore a tarnished gold, and pulled out a crescent shaped dagger.
Definitely the latter.
Swingi with more furiosity, he swung upward, breaking your defensive stance. You were off balanced now so he swung down with all of his might. Instinctually, you raised your hands and stumbled back.
The knife sliced across the palm of your hand. You were lucky. The only luck you could conjure for this night. Any closer and who knows what could have happened. A thief without opposable thumbs obviously couldn’t do their job.
Fuck this.
Gritting your teeth, you retaliated. You clenched your fist trying to stem the flow of blood. The man lunged forward. His dagger now dipped in your blood. You dodged. But, instead of backing up, you weaved around his attack and stepped froward. You entered his space. With all the strength you possessed, with all the fruition pent up, you swung aiming directly at his face.
You connected.
His head snapped to the side as he fumbled backwards.
That was only step one.
While he was disoriented, you grabbed his cape and wrapped it around his face and body. Using momentum and physics, you jumped up high then flung your torso forward, yanking his body over your shoulder onto the rooftop.
Marc groaned as his back slammed into the concrete rooftop. Maybe, he shouldn't have taken the body tonight.
“Marc,” Khonshu said, “they are getting away.”
Marc clenched his jaw and ripped the cape of his face. Just as Khonshu said, the person was sprinting away, bouncing from roof to roof. Taking a deep breath, he got up and followed after them.
You heard him. His damn cape snapped in the air as he gained on you.
Fuck. Think. How do I get out this? Damnit, I need more time. I can’t -
Wait.
You peered over your shoulder. He was still coming.
Screw it.
You planted your feet down and whipped around facing him. Your assailant slowed down, but didn’t approach. He was smart. He knew to analyze the situation.
What are they doing, he thought.
You began to stroll.
He matched you.
The two of you circled around each other on a random rooftop.
“So,” you began, out of breath. “Care to explain why you’re dressed like that?”
You needed time, you needed to stall him.
He cocked his head. His glowing eyes glanced down at your clenched fist as blood dripped on the roof. A dotted circle slowly formed as you paced each other. “Why do you care?” He retorted.
You shrugged. Behind your goggles, your eyes scanned everything, trying to formulate some plan. “I don’t know. A man in bandages and a cape with weird glowing eyes comes after you, you start asking questions.”
He scoffed.
“So?” You cocked your head. “Is the cape machine washable or something?”
“Marc, finish this,” Khonshu huffed impatiently.
You watched as the man looked over his shoulder. You followed his gaze seeing nothing, only a sea of building tops and the faint glow of the moon behind the growing clouds. The man looked back at you. His unusual eyes pierced through you. It sent a chill down your spine.
“This is justice.”
“Justice? Running around rooftops?”
Marc wanted to rip his hair out. Your snarky comments mixed with Khonshu’s pestering was enough to drive anyone mad. “We’re here to protect the vulnerable, and you’ve done some horrible things, you’ve killed people.”
You froze in place. “Excuse me?”
“Theft, blackmail, arson, murder, and a list that continues on.” All the information given to him by Khonshu, by a nearly all-knowing god. As long as you were under his moonlight, he knew almost everything that happened.
You blinked. “What?”
“And you won’t stop, so I’m here to put an end to it all.”
You clenched your jaw. “Who are you to judge me?”
And how does he know?
“Not me, Khonshu.”
“Khonshu?”
Why did that sound familiar? It didn’t matter.
Your fists began to tremble. “I’m not a killer.”
The butler’s shocked, pained, expression was still fresh in your mind.
“Right, because you are an upstanding citizen.” He fired back.
The young boy’s screams still hummed in your ears. You squeezed your eyes shut. The roar of a raging fire crackled in the silent night, the unbearable heat licked at your skin, the knife in your hand coated in blood as you tossed it into the fire. You sighed looking up at the full moon as embers blended with the starry background and -
“I did what I did to survive!” You shouted, drowning out the noise in your head.
Marc blinked.
Huffing and puffing, your body shook in anger and fear. “They threatened my life, they threatened my family. I would have died if I didn’t do anything. I know deep down in my bones that it was them or me.” You opened your eyes looking at the cloaked figure in front of you, your voice now soft and thick with emotion, “But … but if … if I could give them their life back I would, do you honestly think I go to bed every night sleeping peacefully and happily with the blood on my hands?”
Marc stepped forward. Oh, he knew. He knew that pain well. He can clearly see each individual face of all of those he killed, killed in the name of justice, in the name of Khonshu. The crimes of his victims were horrendous, but they were still human. Faces of neighbors, faces of family members, faces of strangers. Each one haunted him each and every night.
“They speak the truth,” Khonshu stated.
Marc snapped his head over to the god who casually sat on top of a rooftop behind him. “Then what are we doing here?” He hissed.
“They are still a danger,” Khonshu pointed out. “They will steal again and again. In that aspect, they may never change.”
“And that’s it?” Marc threw his hands up. “They steal, so what? So do little kids, are we going to go after them next? What exactly are we going, Khonshu? We keep doing this over and over? Constantly killing time? Then we are no better than all the people you make us hunt down.”
I am no better, he bitterly thought.
“This is justice, Marc Spector, so why do you hesitate now?” Khonshu faded into particles of dust before reappearing in front of him. “Did this one pull on your heart strings? Do you see yourself in them? Or are you truly so desperate to be free of me and my suit, of my powers? I am the one thing keeping you alive, the one thing giving you a purpose.”
Marc gritted his teeth.
Khonshu hummed, satisfied in Marc’s reluctant silence. He glanced over to you, only to shade his head. “And now you let them get away.”
Marc whipped around. You were gone. He rushed to the edge of the building and couldn’t see any signs left by you. He spun around wildly searching for you, possibly hopping from roof to roof, but he still saw nothing.
“Well, Marc? What will you do now?” Khonshu mused.
“Zip it.”
“Hmph, so rude as usual.” Khonshu leaned over the edge of the building. He could lend an aid to Marc’s search, but if one slips away it doesn’t matter for the moment. There were other pressing matters. “Come now, we have other business to attend to.”
Marc glanced down at the droplets of blood. All of it contained on the roof, it didn’t lead in any particular direction. He sighed to himself then left.
You pulled yourself over the balcony to your apartment then flopped onto the hard ground. Breathless, you laid staring up at the overcast night sky. Your hand throbbed in a constant drumming pain. The blood was getting sticky as it dried and coated your entire palm.
You pulled off your mask and goggles. Sighing, you close your eyes.
Who knew one night could go so wrong?
A droplet hit your cheek.
Slowly, you cracked open your eyes. Rain began to sprinkle down. You didn't move as you let each drop wash away everything: the pain, the memories, the lingering ache.
You brought your hand to your face examining the cut. It was shallow. It would heal quickly. Thankfully. “Another scar to add to the collection,” you mumbled to yourself. Slowly, you picked yourself up and leaned against the bulky concrete railing: your bloody hand pressed firmly against it. You stared out over the quiet city. A city that would wake tomorrow to see the damage you caused.
“Until next time, cape crusader,” you mumbled before turning to walk inside.

The Day I Took 6 Hours to Go To the DMV for 10 Minutes, Get 3 Bags of Groceries, and Almost Get Hit by a Car - While Disabled
Setting the Scene
I am poor and disabled. I don't have a car. My friend is at work all day. I have an appointment at the DMV to get an ID at 3pm.
Chapter 1: The DMV
I leave the house at 1:20pm. Navigator says it will take me an hour to get to the DMV, so I'm leaving about 20 minutes earlier than I need to catch my first bus, but, if I'm lucky, I can get the one before it
I do manage to catch the one before the one I'd planned on. However, at the transit center, the next bus that goes to the DMV does not have an earlier version
I wait 15 minutes.
Someone at the bus stop is wandering around and telling everyone he sees to buy t-shirts from some website where you can get anything you want printed on it for a low price. He is also going to the DMV to get his ID
I take the bus to the DMV with t-shirt guy
I go to the bathroom and find that the entire way thus far, I have had my pants completely undone. Thank god I'm fat and my stomach may have hidden this. I pretend I'm not on the brink of death as I return to the waiting room.
I get my ID in about 5 minutes, no fuss
Well, I got a bus day pass for this and it's only been an hour and 20 minutes. Why not go to the grocery store on the way home? My friend and I didn't go shopping this week and he works all weekend until late at night. I may as well grab the things I'm missing while I'm out and have all access bus rides
Chapter 2: Winco
I go back to the bus stop and take the bus that goes to Winco. I have a hard time hearing because I have my headphones in to avoid sensory overload. I'm also unfamiliar with this route.
I notice just after he begins to pull away from the bus stop that it's the one outside Winco and I pull the Request Stop line. I know I've pulled it too late and I expect him to take me all the way to the next stop before letting me out, but he's nice and stops up at the next intersection, gently chastising me for not puling it earlier. I am sorry Mr. Driver, I know I missed the stop, thank you for letting me out anyway.
There is a big 4-way intersection directly attached to the Winco parking lot. I wait for the walk light to change to Walk. It changes. I begin to walk.
Someone runs a left turn red light and ALMOST FUCKING HITS ME WITH THEIR CAR. He slams on his breaks and stops a meter away from me. We make eye contact as my life flashes before my eyes and his life outside of vehicular manslaughter and eternal guilt prison flashes before his.
After a moment of regrouping, I keep walking, wondering what the other people stopped at the light were thinking about him
I get into the store and put my backpack in the cart, realizing it was hanging open, at least since I got off the bus, but possibly since I got on the one at the DMV
I wonder what the other people stopped at the light were thinking about me
I get my food quickly and leave Winco. It is 5pm.
Chapter 3: Getting Back Home
As I leave Winco, I follow where maps tells me the bus stop I need is located. It's across the street and to the right. I overestimate how far to the right and have to walk back a ways
As I'm walking, my phone restarts for seemingly no reason. "FUCKING GREAT," I think, wondering if it will error itself while I'm trying to navigate. Sometimes is malfunctions like this.
The phone does not give me a black error screen. Instead, it will no longer connect to the data network. "FUCKING GREAT," I think
I stand at the bus stop trying to reload maps repeatedly, unsure which bus i was meant to take and which connection after that. Before it restarted, it said the bus would be here some 5 minutes from then. It is not there in five minutes.
I cannot get my internet to connect. I wait 20 minutes for the bus.
When I finally sit down on the bus, deciding it doesn't fucking matter which bus it is, I see Whatsapp saying it has a syncing issue because the time is wrong on my phone. I look at my clock. It says 5:51, which seems right without much consideration. I go to my time settings and see it's set to 5:51 am. This is incorrect. I set it to network provided time and it corrects itself. It is 5:25pm.
This is also why my internet wouldn't work. My SIM connects again and I open maps
This bus will connect to two others if I get off at stop A or stop B. I want to get off at stop B. I accidentally get off at stop A
I reopen maps. There will be another bus, but It requires another transfer, which I wouldn't have needed if I'd gotten off at stop B
I wait for the next bus. The electronic sign above the bus stop says it's the RED line. Didn't I just get off the RED line? Oh well, maps said there's another bus. Maybe they share a stop.
I get on the RED line. They do not share a stop. Perhaps I was supposed to walk to another bus stop. I did not. I am now on the RED line going the wrong direction. I have 3 bags of groceries and more in my backpack. My hands hurt.
I get off the bus at the next stop when I realize it's going south and I've passed where I need to go west.
I open maps
I have to cross the street but, fortunately, another bus will come... in 20 more minutes. It is 6:00pm.
There is no bench at this bus stop.
I put my groceries on the ground.
I take a picture of a nice tree.
I make a tumblr post about benches at bus stops.
The bus arrives. I am sure of my connections now. I think.
This bus will take me to an intersection where I will cross the street and go to another bus stop
I get off the bus and begin walking the wrong way. I turn around to go the right way, crossing the street to the next bus stop
I wait at the bus stop
I take the bus to the next stop and cross the street. It's dark now. I have to pee.
Maps says my next bus comes here in 20 minutes, but a bus a 10 minute walk up the road is leaving going the same place in 15 minutes.
"Fuck it, I'm walking up the road," I say.
I should not have fucked it and I should not have walked up the road.
My knee begins to get sharp pains in it as I walk up an incline toward the last bus stop
I wait at the bus stop for 8 minutes.
I take the bus to the final stop, a 12 minute walk from the apartment. I walk up more incline to the apartment. My friend's car is here. I guess he beat me home.
I realize I haven't eaten or had anything to drink but two brownies and some water at 11am. It's 7:00pm.
And that's how I, a disabled person, got to spend 6 hours going to the DMV for 5 minutes and and get 3 bags of groceries at a store 10 minute's drive from where I live.
Can you even guess how excited I am to take the bus to the library and the notary on Monday???? :)

a buncha headshot portraits! three out of five portraits, i'm finishing up the last two c: the sketches here are from way back in august/september, and i fiddled with them for some weeks on end trying to make Something out of them, then proceeded to frustratedly shelf the lot of them away. so it's nice to see at least these three all finished up now :') and they were really nice to work on too ;v;
but ohoho okay, this is a lot of announcements in one single post, so bear with me a moment :3c here's a tl;dr first: 1) headshot portraits as a new commission option maybe? :0ccc 2) commissions are opening again on monday, jan. 23rd! 3) separate commission info webpage for reading convenience (particularly for folks on mobile) 4) commission rules changes: payment in full & upfront, rather than half-and-half 5) two-slots-per-person rule will be no more and folks are free to send as many orders as they want, but any ones after the second will go into the queue instead 6) also a small change with unoccupied queue slots
the rest is under the readmore :')
so, i've been thinking about adding this sort of portrait as a commission option!! fairly simple compositions but fully rendered (because i darn love painting so much; cellshading is nice and all, but coloring it all in one layer is just... heart-eyes), on the big 2600px to 3800px canvases as well c: and i'm thinking of pricing commissions like these at 28 USD (feels like a good price but i'm accepting feedback on that — the point was to add something that's just straight up fully-rendered, but for the lower end of the pricetable, and the limitations of a headshot portrait feel fitting enough on both sides ;v; )
also portraits like these are fairly quick to draw, so the turnaround time would be fairly short! add to it that 1) these are fun, 2) i could use focusing on just the face and expressions rather than elaborate poses and all, 3) portraiture lighting my beloved, and 4) these are painted, and don't take forever to figure out or paint. :D but yeah, let me know what you think of the headshot portrait option!! would you folks be interested in something like this? :0c
and now hold on a moment, i have more things to say!! xD
commissions are reopening monday, jan. 23rd, at the usual 5pm BRT (UTC -3:00)!
6 active slots (previously known as regular slots; can't believe it's taken me years to figure out a better way of calling these orz), as well as another 24 slots on queue. these will remain open until further notice; money's tight right now, hence the lack of closing date :')
there should be plenty of slots either way tho, so no rush at all! but i apologize for the super short notice orz
also, i went and got all the commission info on a separate webpage on wix instead. here you go!
should be easier to access and read through stuff, particularly on mobile — or at least i sincerely hope it is, please leave me feedback if you can!!! let me know if you encounter Problems, i've looked and combed through every bit of these four (4) pages but i might have missed stuff still, pretty please let me know if you run into any Issues! ;-;
but yeah, the website has all the rules and info and all the different options as well, with extra examples and all. on monday, you'll also be able place orders directly through there, i made a little form and all c': technically the form is already there but pls don't send requests yet, i can't reserve slots ahead of time!
also also, and these are the last things i've got to say, i promise (and thank you if you've read this far!),
a couple commission rules are changing!
1) from this new batch onwards, i'll be charging commissions in full & upfront instead of the half-half system i'd been doing up until this point. the exception is if an order exceeds $80 USD; for those ones we'll return to the half-before-sketch + half-once-finished situation instead!
but how's that? :0c i hope this is alright, but please let me know if this would make commissions just... unaffordable ;o; i do really like the half-half system, and i'd rather keep it, but it's either this or raising prices, and i don't think i can do that yet :T either way, please let me know your thoughts on the matter!!
2) the only-two-slots-per-person rule will no longer be in effect, so go ham with multiple orders if you wish on monday — the caveat is that i'll still be working only on two orders at a time per person, so if you order three things, the third one will be placed at the end of the queue c:
looking back i could've... done this from the beginning. orz it should be more convenient to send multiple orders if you have 'em!
and finally, 3) if the queue list hits its closing date with slots still available, folks who have already ordered and would like to get in the queue again can go on and grab those empty queue slots if they want, instead of being limited to two slots per person per batch, and then having to wait for an entire new batch.
i opened this exception for the last round of commissions (thank you once again to the folks who wanted repeats ;-; ) so i thought i should just make it into a proper thing instead, since it does make sense to do it anyway — the queue list is purposefully filled with a ton of slots, then left open for weeks on end to make sure everyone interested can get their orders in, so letting folks claim those remaining slots after the deadline sounds fine ;v;
that being said, there won't be a deadline for this monday's batch, so this bit technically doesn't change anything xD but i thought i should mention the New Thing #6!
and that's it! that's all!
while i'm pretty set on most of these (specially the full-upfront-payment bit — again, money's tight orz), i'm still definitely open to feedback, and to change things if something doesn't work for you folks!! please do share your thoughts on it, or send a note if you'd rather!! and let me know if you have any questions too ;v;
i apologize for the super short notice again (and for cramming all of this into a single post) orz i'll be sorting things out until 5pm on monday, and getting these last commissions posted as well c:
thank you again for reading all of this orz and please don't feel obligated to reply to all the points if you have thoughts on only a specific one, i'd rather hear a little feedback than none at all ;o;
all in all, hope at least these portraits look nice, they were fun to work on :') Oliver, Owen and Steffan (previously known as the Swordsman/the Warlock — yup he's got a name now!); i'll get the other two of Matthew and Coriander done and posted!
thanks again folks, have a nice friday! ;w;

the date (part 1 of 2 maybe 3)
content warning: alcohol, single mention of vomit, kissy kissy smoochy smoochy, himeno
Tumblr media
Rio sat on the only place in his mostly unfurnished apartment allowed him, his bed. He played with his nails to try to act like the time wasn’t moving painfully slow. 4:45pm, their date was set for 5pm. Aki lived in the same apartment complex, so there wasn’t a reason for him to be late. How the fuck did a small crush on a coworker turn into this mess? Rio thought to himself, staring at his combat boots.
It had moved so slow, yet it happened so quickly. Rio had disliked Aki for his comment on how he didn’t wear the uniform assigned to him correctly, then neither of them talked much, unless it was for work reasons. Rio remembered his damn suit jacket he let him borrow. It was all on a spiral after that. Aki had invited Rio to everything, and anything work related. Bimonthly work drinking parties became more often, leading to a lot of uncomfortable interactions.
Himeno had one arm over Rio, Himeno had pulled Rio aside from the party, both standing outside in the cold night air. She was a fucking wreck at this point. “Rio,” She slurred. “You have to bring Aki home tonight. Denji and Power took his keys, he’s a damn wreck. You’re sober enough.”
“I’ll just ring the doorbell; we live in the same apartment complex after all.”
Himeno playfully hit Rio’s back. “No, no, no. Listen,” she said, trying to act more sober than she was. “Your apartment. Let him crash. He would want nothing more.” Rio stared at her, not fully understanding what she was even trying to imply.
But as the night dragged, Rio had bought Aki to his apartment. Laying him on the couch, placing a vomit bucket on the coffee table and a cup of water. This became common place anytime there was a work event with alcohol that Denji and Power would leave early, taking the house keys from a very drunk Aki, leaving Rio to watch over him. One night was a different story.
“I really,” Aki stumbled out. “Like you, more than coworkers and friends.” Aki said, propped up on the couch. He was a bright red, trying to maintain eye contact with Rio. “I want to kiss you, so, so bad. Fuck.”
Rio’s gut turned into butterflies, the feeling was now or never, and Rio took the jump. Slowly grabbing both sides of his face, leaning in for a kiss, Aki willingly allowing so. The kiss was small, light, and lasted for less than a second. But both now could do nothing more than stare at each other’s flustered faces. Seconds feeling like a lifetime. Neither noticing Rio’s hands slowly burning the sides of Aki’s face.
The two of you acted like nothing had happened, Aki had told others when they ask about the small burn marks on both of his cheeks that he had fallen on a stove top, twice. About a week of the normal pattern of not talking to each other unless needed, at a normal place the two of you have lunch at, Aki broke the silence.
“Available tomorrow at 5pm?” He said, avoiding eye contact and quickly shoving a gyoza in his mouth.
Rio raised a eyebrow at his question, stopping eating to stare at him for a moment. “Why?”
Aki finished the gyoza in his mouth. “Answer the question.”
Fuck, he was probably going to make you do overtime because he wants to do overtime, again. I can’t lie, he’s technically my authority. “Yeah, what’s up?” Half sighing.
Aki paused, thinking of what to say next. “I would like to,” He lets out a sigh. “Go to the movies with you. Buy you dinner instead of lunch for once.” Aki reached with his chop sticks to get another gyoza, hands visibly shaking.
“Oh,” Rio said staring at his hands. “Yeah, okay.” Without thinking much about it.
Now Rio was dressed up nicely, sitting on his bed, waiting for the doorbell to ring. At the time he wasn’t thinking much of it, but it dawned on him the day of that he was asked out, on a date, by Aki. He even struggled to find something nice to dress up in.
There was a soft knock on the main door. Rio slowly got up, staring at the door for a moment to not give the impression of desperation. Opening the door was a well dressed Aki, standing in a outfit foreign to Rio, it was more casual then his typical suit and tie. But he looked good in it. “Hey,” Rio spoke shyly, staring at his nice leather shoes.
“I hope you don’t mind,” Rio looked up, he was carrying a medium sized bouquet of red roses, wearing a expression of nervousness and a small smile.
“Oh, fuck,” Rio accidentally slipped out. “Of course, I don’t! Thank you so much.” He said grabbing the bouquet. Rio’s face grew hot, and the realization that not bursting into flames today was going to be difficult to say the least.

Really tired but don't want to sleep yet, somehow. Want to talk with others but tired of typing and communicating over text, email, chat. Want to talk but tired.
Many thoughts and many things I'd like to do that I never feel I have the energy for. I have the time now, for a bit, but somehow can never seem to get around to getting up and to it.
Many thoughts, like -
I still haven't adjusted to being here. I'm not sure I ever will. Sometimes you put something in an environment that doesn't suit it and that's just that.
I don't like having coffee or an afternoon tea in the morning, I like having it at 4 or 5pm. I like sitting for hours on end from afternoon to evening somewhere.
Those are just not the hours kept here, for those things to be possible.
I like going out at night for supper. I like going for a stroll around the shops at night sometimes. I like night markets.
I need and like good public transport. I enjoy going for walks where things are good to look at. I like trying out new cafés and I'll go back religiously to a place I really like and think is pretty.
But it isn't like that here.
It came to me the other day that these places aren't built to be nice to walk about in. These settler cities. There are no squares or plazas or wide avenues like those in the old towns and cities in Europe and no vibrant urban nights like back in Asia. There are just streets and roads you walk down to get somewhere, whether it's into the residential streets or from the train station out in the middle of them somewhere through the dark unlit roads at night to get to a single high street, where cars and train tracks and maybe trams travel along and pass by.
The architecture doesn't feel like it's meant to be looked at on these streets, really. The low buildings are only adorned with rectangular shop signs that only sometimes match the actual shop that now occupies the space. Empty shop spaces abound. Above a clothing shop an old peeling cardboard-like sign might say Tina's Hairdressing. There are rows of these, facing each other and going all the way down the street, sometimes broken off and in strips. And then there's nothing more.
You don't even notice the building facades unless you're across the street and look up. Some buildings, especially in the city, genuinely are beautiful, but many look in somewhat poor repair. And the shops are soulless square and rectangular spaces that change all the time.
When I travelled in Europe I enjoyed going to sit in churches because they were so often beautiful, and quiet. The churches here are not. The two nearby, in and just outside of the city, are tourist attractions. The other two a little further into the city, sitting across from each other, are beautiful - but you can't seem to really go in unless you're worshipping for Mass or something.
The streets are crowded and often busy, but don't feel like there are places to just be.
Some places you feel happy to walk in and down, because it's pretty, because there are things to look at, because looking at them, their beauty, makes you happy.
This place is not like that.
People walk down the streets here to get someplace, not because the buildings are pretty to look at and being around them gives you pleasure. When you look or walk down the street, your gaze meets only empty shop lots announcing For Lease or Rent, For Sale signs with dark empty spaces beyond and a houseless person lying in the alcove of its glass front doors, advertisements, or shops that say 'Up to 90% off!' in the window. Some new business has opened up in the space that the previous new but now no longer there business was, with the new sign plastered over the previous décor. You lose track of what it was. The walls are white and bare but the blue lightbox of its sign is something else than what it used to be. Across the road there's another shop that has changed its face too, sporting a new name in huge, painfully bright white LED lights that spell out something else. The old sign sticking out at a 90° angle hasn't been changed, though, saying the name of what used to be there still. Next door is a new nail salon all open space with an all-white interior and only all the requisite furnishings, nothing more, a lone white fluffy rug in the window showing nail designs. None of the shops have bothered to make much of a renovation effort. They never do, because they don't often last very long. Even if they're a franchise or branch. The revolving door of shops go on. Shops move into side streets and new ones take their place, with the walls always stark white and bare-shelved under equally white fluorescent tube lights. Utilitarian and cheaply thrown together and you feel like if you just reached out and touched the wall and rubbed it, the new layer would come crumbling away in that spot like dry plaster. Over and over new shops open and close and get painted on like changing make-up by caking it on, layer after layer, scraps of what used to be there still underneath it or even simply repurposed, completely exposed. Down one of the alleys all the side that used to be a café is now closed and caged off. Elsewhere, a kitchen counter and bar taking up the whole side of the room that must once have been a lounge or lobby left completely bare and empty, next to which a short way across a desk has been placed perpendicularly. A receptionist sits answering calls redirecting clients because their psychiatrist is no longer taking new clients, a pink flying pig wall décor to the side of them a few feet away and above on the wall. Behind them, dozens of animal decals, facing the hanging chandelier. Back in the city, shop signs change faster than the shops can open, newspaper in the glass obscuring the view beyond lasting longer than the names, so ephemeral they may as well merely be lingering smoke. Paper pasted up with tape announce 'Easy Chicken' with a menu but whose doors never opened, next to a 'Leased' sign and a notice stuck over it saying "Noodle shop coming soon".
Nothing is beautiful here, it's just meant to sell you something. Church souvenirs. Bubble tea for four months before the next short-lived bakery moves in, before it's emptied for renovation and becomes a Chinese restaurant fated to then turn into a retail shop which doesn't work out and switches to selling phone accessories. Gutted, hollowed-out buildings with shops gouged out and then put back in, gouged back out and put back in; the frames peeling around them, around the edges, the cracked doorways above.

1. Whoa 2. Heol 3. From 3:06 mins onwards, it is daebakㅋㅋㅋㅋ She dances really well 4. She is really a good dancerㅋㅋ 5. Hey, this is the center of SNSD 6. Really good ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 9. As expected of SNSD’s center!! 11. She only practiced for 2 days, it’s not that long but she is really good at it ㅠㅠㅠㅠSoshi experience is not going anywhere 13. As expected, YoonA is such a good dancer ㅋㅋㅋ 14. There is a reason why there is such a thing called 짬바 (t/l the experience gained from doing something for a long time) 15. As expected, even if you are reborn, you have to contribute to K-Pop........ 16. As expected, Lim YoonA is Lim YoonA ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠThe bestㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ 17. YoonA is so bright and pretty, so she doesn’t seem to be a match with these 2 songs but as expected of Soshi’s centerㅜㅜThere are members that are able to sets the tone/mood in every group, and in Soshi, its YoonA ㅜㅜㅜㅠㅠㅠShe is so prettyㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ 18. I want to keep watching you dance. You are so goodㅠㅠㅠ 20. SNSD’s center is the best, really... 22. Please continue doing dance covers ㅜㅜㅜ 25. The dancing line is pretty 27. Kitsch suits you so well 29. Legend is legend 30. Kitsch’s choreography is really cool. She dances really well 32. Noㅋㅋㅋㅋ I think you need to perform on a music show right away?? Unnie, come back on music shows 34. How could you do this just after almost 10 hours of practicing? ㅜㅜ Lim YoonA, you are so good 37. This question is a bit odd, but YoonA is still in SM without changing agency right? Its so nice to receive fan meeting fancams ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 38. (replying to 37th comment) Yes yes 40. Kitsch (choreography) is more powerful than I thought. Ditto is a soft dance ㅋㅋㅋㅋ YoonA is really perfect for Kitsch 41. You are so good at dancing. So neat and cool 42. There is an urgent need for law revision. It should be compulsory for YoonA to do dance covers weekly. 46. It should be a law for YoonA to do dance covers on her birthday every year 48. Crazy, this is so goodㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ 49. You dance really well, YoonA please dance more often 52. As expected of SNSD’s center ㄷㄷThe dance itself and dancing line are both art. ㅠㅠㅠIdol YoonA is the best. Even though your acting is good but please continue to make comebacks as an idol. I also love Soshi these days.
54. YoonA is so pretty, and her dancing skill is insane too. 56. Wow, this is center YoonA! 57. Heol, you released an official fancam ㅋㅋㅋThis is greatㅋㅋ 64. I came to see it againㅋㅋㅋ I want to see the practice video tooㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ 66. (replying to 64th comment) There will also be vlog for her practice video, as its YoonA’s birthday tomorrow so I think she will release it then!! There was a short clip of the practice video in her birthday party’s VCR!! 69. No, YoonA said she gained some weight... You are still so slim ㅜ 70. YoonA is so light and flowy when she dances, she has good sense of rhythm, really cool. 74. YoonA is so pretty no matter how you look at herㅠㅠㅠ How can there be such a refreshing, pretty and power idol 75. Ah, this unnie was an idol ㅠㅠAnd is the girl group’s center ㅠㅠHer dancing line is good and neat... 76. Since you are giving it to me, please give me a vertical fancamㅋㅋ Anyway you did well, you did well. 77. Wow she dances it really comfortably, but it is clean and neat. Please give me more Kitsch ㅠㅠ 80. The standards of the center, getting the points right away 81. Lim YoonA, I love you ㅠㅠㅜㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ 96. She really dances well, especially how she makes use of her arms 98. Really neat with no unnecessary movements 103. Kitsch is really crazy? As expected, YoonA suits boyish style (styling) 106. When I watch YoonA, I will understand fully how people who dance well have long limbs. The slim body line is really pretty 111. Ah, YoonA definitely suits powerful choreography perfectly.. She seems gentle but she dances really well 112. (replying to 106th comment) Even though its good to have long limbs, but if you don’t dance well, it might look like you are floundering. 113. As expected of the living specimen of center, the center bible ㅋㅋㅋShe dances well and smiles well too 119. I know that YoonA dances well, but I am still amazed every time I look at her. You look like this and dances so well, that’s unfair 123. As expected from a dance member you can trust.. a center you can trust.. ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ 127. I want to see you dancing to all idols’ dances from the world, dance really well 130. F*cking pretty goddess 131. I saw this from a phone taken fancam by a fan, but I saw that she dances well even from a low-quality video.. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I have to watch this video later 133. Ah its really pretty. The dancing line is pretty but the facial expression on stage is really artistic too 141. Honestly I think she should do 1 dance cover per month.
147. She is filming a drama right now but in order to show it to everyone, she went for dance practices in between...YoonA is really... 149. As expected, as expected ㅠ 153. Not dancing like a backup dancer, but she dances like the center of girl groups, dancing prettily like the main character. 155. A genius idol Source: TheQoo Trans: mystarmyangel

hello here is a scruffy little girl keeping vigilant watch over the backyard!!!! NO squirrels allowed!!! we got up at 5:30 but lord I slept badly… had bad racing thoughts trying to fall asleep and then just tossed and turned all night. woke up with a splitting headache but the mood is nevertheless good because after today I only have three days of this loathèd job left :)))))
I think part of the reason I was tossing and turning so much last night is that I was thinking about how much the rhythms of my life are going to change when I’m actually in a real job with a real schedule and real responsibilities. I feel absolutely positive that the tradeoffs will be worth it, but I do want to just emotionally prepare myself for the inevitable adjustment period where I panic a little about not having endless time to cook/walk the dogs for hours/lounge in bed. I think in the summer it will be fine because even if I get home at 5:30 or 6 I’ll still have plenty of time to walk the dogs while it’s light out… the hardest part will probably just be the winter when the sun sets at 4 and I can’t walk the dogs in the middle of the day. but I hope that by the time the Long Dark rolls around I’ll be settled enough in the job that I can arrange my schedule in a way that enables me to meet my human needs! like maybe taking very long lunches and working a bit later so I can drive home and walk the dogs during the day, or just getting the reflective vest & dorky headlight gear that will enable me to do long walks when it’s pitch black out at 5pm lol. and I want to not be afraid to use the hybrid option as needed—if I’m home two days a week, I can take full advantage of that time (and can really savor every second of daylight I get on the weekends). as far as cooking goes, I’m hoping that liz and alex will live close enough for us to cook together a couple times a week, which will make cooking feel more like a joyful social occasion and less of a chore I have to do at the end of a long day. I also think that I am slowly getting to the point where I find the act of cooking itself to be relaxing and fun, so hopefully I can continue to make it feel like a nice calming/centering thing I do for myself as the day winds down.
anyway the point is: big life changes always feel scary!! but that’s because on the cusp of a big change you’re always keenly attuned to the things you’ll be losing (because you have a concrete sense of what those things are) and not as able to imagine all the things you’ll be gaining (because the future is still hazy and ill-defined in your mind). I have complete faith that this change will transform my life in so many positive ways that the adjustments I have to make or the energy I have to put into creating new routines will be more than worth it.
anyway ok!!! I worked from 6:30-8:30 finishing up a project and am now taking a short lounge break before I meet with my lead from 9-10. after that I may have a few work tasks to complete, but if not I can shift my attention to other stuff. here are the things I am committed to doing today:
read through CT material and email him back
send JE a gentle nudge about job materials
unearth these plants that died and put them in plastic pots so I can return them
run at the gym! since I’m being oddly resistant I’m going to lower the expectations for myself! I just want to warm up, run 1 mile, and cool down, which will take me under 20 min. I suspect I’ll end up doing more than that but the point is just to get myself out the door and into the gym.
do all returns (kohl’s, target, old navy, home depot). my shameless bribe to myself is that if I do all that stuff I can buy yellow flowers, a cilantro plant, and a cherry tomato plant.
then I’ll check back in at work and take care of anything that came up before moving on to my afternoon tasks:
read through JS material and email her back
finish generating AU brainstorming prompts
walk the dogs for an hour (it’s deliciously cool out this morning so I might do this earlier in the day to take advantage tbd)
showerrrrrrr
talk to M/HL and book flight

Monday 9 December 1833
1 ¼ pm
11 ¼
terrible night - tremendous window and rain could not sleep for the noise of these and the water dashing against my head and the vessel striking every now and then against the wooden breakwater - the wind still high and rain continued till just before I got up - so late, had no breakfast - washed a little the first time save dipping my hands yesterday - a turn or 2 on deck and then dinner from 2 20 to 3 20 - R.N. lieutenants  and midshipmen know nothing about managing vessels - the master always manages a man of war (i.e. works the ship) - the naval officers are only for frightening - all the steamers lost, were commanded by R.N lieutenants  or midshipman except the Erin (commanded by an East India company’s officer) which founded in the Bristol channel - our captain (Corbin) was on board of her the night before she sailed from the Thames - an E. Indian of 1400 tons had sometime before run against her and struck off 10ft. of her stern which had been temporary repaired for her to go to another voyage before being laid up for thorough repair - probably this temporary work had given away – 510 miles English from Hamburg to London – 64 miles from H- to Cuxhaven – 30 miles from C- to the sea – 600 miles from Harwich (government sailing packets with the mails every Saturday) to Gothenburg – voyage ordinary of 4 or 5 days – longest known in 3 weeks – worst weather often in the spring in April – 20 hours by steam from Gothenburg to Copenhagen – speaking of my liking to go to Iceland, the captain said the Copenhagen vessels were a long time in going – did not care how – best hire an English fishing smack, fishing for cod between there and Newfoundland in winter – accustomed to those seas – but having little to do in May June and July (there no night in Iceland) and he knew of a very nice one, the Sarah Mary, 60 or 70 tons, of Deptford, for £80 or £90 per month crew about 7 men – I should be as safe in  [?] as in my own house – should besides have to provisions to find for myself and servants and perhaps £10 or £12 to lay out in making the cabin comfortable – it might hold 4 or 5 ladies – but I should find myself and servants enough – In this way, for £300, in 3 months might [visit] the Orkneys, Zetland islands, Faroe ditto and sail round Iceland – the smack would come round for me to Hull, and I must allow her for time back to England if I was left anywhere else – Captain John P. Corbin always to be found at the general steam packet office 69 Lombard street London and would be glad to arrange for me about the smack or do anything for me he could – he knows a gentleman Mr. Seebright [Sebright] (son of Sir John Seebright [Sebright]) and now in Sweden whom he has also advised to hire a smack for Iceland instead of going in another way – only 2 steamers since they began to run on this station have put into the Texel because no coals there - we (the Columbine) can carry 75 tons of coal exclusive of cargo - took in 6 tons yesterday - in fine weather burn a ton an hour - in bad weather (because of resistance so great the engines cannot make so many revolutions) ¼ ton an hour (25 cwt. = 1 chaldron) - the Columbine draws 10 ft water - cost £22000 building - about 5pm the Harlequin (Captain Corbin’s elder brother commanded by) came into the roads from London and threw up a blue light to announce her arrival it being almost dark - the steward says the voyage from London here is generally better than from here to London because westerly winds prevail 9 months out of the 12 - walking on deck from 3 ½ to 6 - the deck wet and my shoes wet thro’ - looking at maps and reading a little - tea from 6 ¾ to 7 ¾ for our American gentleman passenger and I talked for the 1st time and the captain seemed more communicative – American money is dollars (=4/. English) and cents i.e. a dollar/100 – our Captain says our P. office must gain a great deal by this last arrangements (since last August) that the Rotterdam and Hamburg mails are conveyed by the steam company’s boats for £13000 a year for letters which used to be 10d. are now 1/8., and the P.O. saves the overland from London to Harwich, the packets at £1000 a year each from Harwich to [Helvoetshirs] and the overland from there to Rotterdam, and the packets from there to here (Cuxhaven) and the overland from here to Hamburg – tho’ now thro’ the interest of the corporation of Harwich there are 6 sinecurists (all Harwich men?) on board there steamers in the persons of 6 mail-guards at £100 a year each who have nothing in the world to do but take care of the mail-bags – nothing to do with the captains nor the captains with them – Before this arrangement the captains were allowed to bring letters, as ship-letters, at 2d. each (much paid then better than they are paid now) and were capable of taking care of these in an open and of perhaps ½ a million of property entrusted to them (for the mails often went without a single letter) but now that the government seal is put on the bags, there must be a man a guard on  purpose to take charge of them – on board the Kings’ packets (from Dover etc.) there is no guard – our captains’ salary is £160 a year and he finds his own provisions – the captains of the government packets have £500 a year – till ten years ago, the Falmouth packets were contracted for from the mercantile interest who built vessels in purpose conveyed the mails for 1/3 of the present expense and there never was an instance of a packet being lost – now that the government has taken this in hand and made it a naval establishment, 4 vessels (16 gun brigs – long vessels for speed, that have gone straight down and foremost) and all hands have been lost – our American has been in all the W. India islands except Jamaica, St. Croix (Santa Cruz, he calls it) the finest – St. Thomas’s likewise belonging to Denmark a free port – passage to America 30 guineas and thence to India £100 – Captain Corbin says we shall get from London to India for £100 after next April when the trade is thrown open – and says one may go in a merchant man from London to Cadiz provisions and everything found for £20 (packet passage from Falmouth £40)
say once a fortnight every voyage of the Columbine to Hamburg and back costs about £300.
crew = 21 at £50 a week wages exclusive of the captains’ £160 per annum
carpenter has 28/. a week and men 21/. a week – find themselves which costs them 5/. a week Don Pedro paid the company £50 a day for the use of each steamer
from 8 to 9 ¼ wrote all the above of today - fair this afternoon and wind abated a good deal this evening - some hope of better weather - F47 ½° now at 9 ¼ in my cool cabin - terribly rainy and stormy till about 1 pm today – our captain went on board the Harlequin – she left English land at five am yesterday – and was here at 5pm today i.e. in 35 hours – very heavy gale last night – saw the Sir Edward Bankes (that left Hamburg last Wednesday and that I was too late for) at 70 miles from England (from Lowestoff) yesterday – the chances are she will reach London – if she has not coal enough must return here or to Heligoland [Helgoland] where the steam co. has also a depot - wrote 13 or 14 lines more to M- (small and close dated tonight) saying we had broke from our moorings and lost our bowsprit on Saturday night (at midnight) etc - raining again now at 10pm till 11 reading the times newspaper of Friday the 6th inst. - do not hear it raining now,  and there does not seem to be very much wind.

Kurangkn shopping. Penuhkan activity jln. I had less time to travel, thats why banyak shopping and city tour! Tempat jln d nz jauh2, need 3- 5 hrs drive(one way 🥹). So,plan properly!
**mcm best tgok caravan. But i personally x mau, homestays look good and reasonable too. Also x susah mau park at cities. Mau cari tempat charge lagi. 😅 unless mmg mau activities picnic sentiasa, go for it! Boleh dpt harga murah klu plan awal.
***jgn lupa, minyak diorang mahal amettt 😂
For more tips, do ask! 😗😆
