OKAY. Am I the only one fascinated by how much Alastor in s1 has interacted with other demons and built a potential for considerable amount of different, broad and unique relationships? With All of them being non-romantic/sexual?

I really don't wanna dive into the discourse of shipping coz honestly, I do think that erasing Al's aroaceness is not cool at all. Personally, I don't see him wishing any romance/sex at all, and well. Considering how platonic he actually is throughout the season, it kinda seems like people forget that friendship (or basically anything non rom-sex) exists in the first place.

Coz, like, let's see what we got::

Vox -- probably one-sided (psychosexual) crush from Vox with possible past friendship between them, them hating on each other yet having (used to have) some respect as well. The ANGST, the drama (for both of sides). Insert aroace troubles (possible aphobia from Vox? Or not? He may be biggest ally as well!) and Vox's petty feelings that are insanely interesting to explore (and laugh at).

Lucifer -- immediate hate that (with a course of events) can turn into forced bonding. The potential of queerplatonic parenting of Charlie is HUGE here. Insecurities from Al? Forced care? Banters? SHENANIGANS? Luci patching up Al after battle, prolly discovering his deal and them slowly bonding on shared interests? Hey.

Rosie -- literal established queerplatonic partners, married for tax benefits, spending their evenings gossiping, hating on Susan and Al rolling his eyes on another romance-rel drama Rosie was trying to help sb with. Rosie can have insane influence on him whether it is understanding modern things or just being with him when he needs it. It also gives off mom/son to me.

Husk -- fucked up master-pet not-friendship with probable care rooted since they were closer in past. Is it toxic? Yes. Is it giving off some problematic dynamic? Sure. Yet it's fucking complex on its core considering pilot, bits and pieces of their interaction and how easily Husk used to insult Al until he overstepped. Them two are quite similar if you think about it and if Al got over his ego it could benefit him a lot.

Niffty -- daugther/father dynamic with them sharing one sadistic-psycho braincell and genuinely enjoying each other's quirks. Protective Al? I just need more Niff and them two being partners in the most outrageous crimes.

Mimzy -- friendship going since they were humans, with them having an amazing (potential) backstory of sharing evenings on two. Al enjoying her company as well as being protective and helpful to her with nothing in return.

Charlie -- manipulated into trusting you as a dad figure? Don't tell me there is nothing below Al's creepy plans or that he wouldn't grow to care for her. He already is proud of her and finds amusement in her inspiration-skills (also, performance is his thing for a reason)

Angel -- I was honestly kinda upset we didn't see any interactions between them except one sex joke, coz my past era of Hunicasts was a fuel to their duo. Them bonding over how different they are is the best description of their dynamic. Also banters and body-puns.

You can't just erase Alastor from interacting with people, but putting him inside boxes of allonormative relationships while he has such a fucking huge potential for everything beyond just that - is quite.. disappointing. People turning a blind eye to a wide variety of relationships he can have (potential to which is set in canon) for the sake of just romance/sex is low key sad.

It's AWESOME to see ppl actually understanding it and.. damn THANKS to everyone who explores Al's relationship with others without it involving final wish to stick tongues into places. Dynamics can be interesting and exciting without it.

I really don't wanna project my romance-aversion onto Al, but when romance and sex is one thing you see everywhere.. it's hard to just let it slip.

You are allowed to do whatever you want, exploring physical intimacy is fun as well, and having Al, well, there are bunch of ways to show it with respecting his orientation and the fact that IT AFFECTS RELATIONSHIPS/ATTRACTIONS but please just don't make it the center of your attention, the one thing relationship revolves around, coz sadly it's just exactly how it looks like from some folks.

The thing about the coworker fling option is the huge potential for the different ways it can go depending on your work and the RO you choose!! LIKE JSJSJDJFJFJ bartender!mc and A (which is my favorite dinamic so far)??!, musical!mc and A??!, teacher!mc and Cal? or G?! Artist!mc and L?! Anchor!mc and R?!! Writer mc and G??!!

And if they (mc and RO) are not in the same workspace, the thought of hearing about your potential crush/fwb having a fling with a coworker they might barely know of?? UGH

It's so funny. Plus in shows it's standard for a character to bring their fling over to a party or even a holiday (for the shenanigans) which adds to the drama and angst and comedy

Why I Love Ladrien

If I write a fic where the square gets together pre-reveal and I then actually write about them dating instead of skipping straight to the reveal, the side that I’m going to do it for is Ladrien. Here’s why:

It’s the side that lets them share their trauma. Most of Adrien’s struggles come from his civilian life and most of Marinette’s struggles come from being Ladybug. But Chat Noir can’t tell Ladybug about his home life and Marinette can’t tell Adrien about her Ladybug struggles. Only as Adrien and Ladybug can they be fully open about the part of their life where they need the most support.

Ladynoir is on equal footing for my favorite dynamic and its comedic potential skyrockets with Ladrien. There are so many ways to mess with Chat Noir or to give him the time of his life while Ladybug stays totally oblivious. Any Ladrien fic that I write is going to see lots of Ladynoir as a compliment. Ladynoir for the comedy, Ladrien for the fluff (see: Villainous Matchmaking)

The civilian/hero sides of the square have the most potential for identity shenanigans and I live for identity shenanigans. To me, it’s the main appeal of pre-reveal dating.

Their mutual celebrity status puts them on equal footing and allows for a myriad of setups where they get to know each other or even secretly go on a public date without attracting any suspicion. It’s just two famous people talking at an event. Nothing to see here!

The non-Miraculous stories that I write are basically all a ‘friends to lovers’ dynamic with getting together being the climax of the relationship arc, so it’s fun to change things up and write a story where the characters are in love right from the start. You still get the relationship deepening that comes in all romance stories, but doing that while they’re dating instead of having dating being the end is a nice change of pace. Dating stories are rarely all that interesting to me because the tension dies as soon as they start dating, but add in the identity shenanigans, secrets, and ever-present threat of Gabriel and, suddenly, there’s still loads of tension and the dating scenes are now the fluffy, sweet moments to temper the surrounding drama.

I like to get my characters together before putting them through hell so that they can support each other through the angst, building their relationship up through that struggle. Ladrien fics let you do that without having to do all of the hard work of getting the characters to fall in love and get together before you put them through hell, meaning that I can write much shorter stories with a much clearer focus on the struggles over the budding romance.

Ladrien’s fun! It deserves more love! I'd rank it as equal to Ladynoir on my personal preference meter, but it's so under-explored that it holds the strongest draw for me.

Really short sleep prompt but I have this kinda generalized idea in my head I gotta share. Remember those Au's where the Fenton's get concerned about their kids ecto contamination and move to Gotham cause it has low levels of ambient ectoplasm? What if we had that but make it a twin au.

Like just imagine the shenanigans that could occur. Imagine going to the dog park only to run into your dead twin. Or one day your dead twin shows up in your school with absolutely no warning. Or maybe Damian starts seeing Danyal's ghost around and Danny has to work so hard to hide the fact he's actually alive.

Also the bats would totally freak out upon finding out that Bruce's bio son is living with ghost hunters and he himself is a ghost. You could absolutely go the good Fenton parents route or bad Fenton parents route too. Like despite all the scary stuff the bats see it turns out the Fenton's are great and loving parents who would give the world for their children.

Or all the scary stuff is proven right when the youngest Fenton/Al Ghul/Wayne shows up on their doorstep begging for help and is probably heavily injured.

There's also the possibility of Bruce absolutely not accepting boundaries and trying to get custody of his son despite his wishes. This could absolutely lead to some great drama and angst. Bruce would be so focused on the dangers the Fenton's put Danny in and the fact that this is his bio son and he doesn't want to spend more years out of his life that he doesn't realize Danny loves his parents and wouldn't trade them for the world despite their flaws.

Genuinely I think there's a lot of twins au potential here :D sorry this is kinda scrambled eggs brain prompts I haven't slep/ in a hot minute and typed this up before going to bed.

I mean Personally I’m still glad they they Still made Sasha Waybright a character from Amphibia least get a better character journey than Catra even if we didn’t see most of her arc in Season 3. Which will personally always bug me since she’s my personal favorite character in the show since I usually love developing Villains/antagonists.

In your opinion why do you believe writers seem to have Such a hard time creating full level redemption arcs for these types of characters? I mean there’s GREAT potential in them if writers could just take the time and nuance in them after enjoying their time as the Villain.

yeah, sasha was really an intriguing character. i love how smart she was and how she handled things in a difficult situation. unfortunately, the writing of amphibia was a bit lackluster. they introduced deep elements and interesting lore into it, but never followed up. i feel like the writers really did not know how to balance a good plot and comedic elements. we never learn about why sasha was the way she was. it's implied that her parents are divorced and that could be part of the reason, but we really don't get enough exposition because the writers wanted to focus on wacky shenanigans instead.

as for your question, i think there are two reasons. one is that writers are aware that the audience loves a good villain. people are slowly drifting towards liking complex and terrifying villains. and for a villain to be terrifying, they have to do the most heinous shit imaginable. which is fine, i really don't think there's a limit to who can be redeemed. it's just that the writers either spend too much time developing a villain as an evil threat that they don't have enough time to give said villain a good redemption. or they're just plain bad at writing a good redemption.

another reason, and this pertains to spop especially, is that when writing an enemies to lovers arc, the writers wants to focus on the "enemies" part of it as much as possible. because that's where all the thrill comes from. the audience wants to see two people try to kill each other while being in compromising positions. they want to see tension, angst, drama. in theory, i don't think this is inherently a bad thing. with c//a however, since adora is not being as sadistic as catra is, it feels painfully one-sided. yeah, catra is a villain so obviously she's gonna be heartless, yada yada. but the whole "i always loved you" just adds another layer of toxicity. it implies that catra was torturing adora while she loved her or some might even say, because she loved her. yikes.

so yeah, it all comes down to bad writing. there are certain things to keep in mind when writing a good redemption but these writers just want to speedrun through the whole process so that their blorbo gets a happy ending. very few writers put in effort to build up a good redemption arc rather than slap it on whichever villain they like best.

Plot: Rayman and Rabbid Peach are offered to film a kiss scene for Beep-O’s movie, “The Wrath of the Phantom!”, an action drama retelling with a surprising romantic twist! Rayman looks uncomfortable by this but tries to push through it. Peaches is curious as to why and confronts him about it.

It’s been a few months since Beep-O, Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Mario, and Rayman moved in together. Beep-O landed a job as a movie director for the Space Opera Network after his screenplay, “The Wrath of the Phantom” was approved as an action-romance based on their encounter with the Phantom alongside Rayman. His friends volunteered to play the starring roles to cut the budget and fund Rayman’s trip home to the Glade. Rayman plays the role of the main character, while Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Mario are the supporting characters. In particular, Rabbid Peach and Rayman are supposed to have a romantic storyline throughout the movie. In most scenes, they’d be able to skirt around the romantic atmosphere and laugh off Beep-O’s fanfic-like writing. Rabbid Peach could tell that today was different when the robot excitedly floated toward her and Rayman.

Beep-O: “Rayman! Rabbid Peach! I have a proposition for you two for an upcoming scene! I think it will boost audience ratings exponentially if you’d like to hear me out, that is.”

Rayman excitedly perks up, “Ooooo! Does it include stunts? Me and Peaches still have some battle maneuvers we’ve been practicing. It would look great on camera!”

Rabbid Peach joins in on Rayman’s excitement about the idea. They had been practicing that maneuver for a while, Rayman would pick her up and drop her from the air then, she would fire at their opponents with her Triple Troll weapon! She imagines a shot of herself dramatically emerging from a cloud of smoke, flipping her hair confidently as she stands over her defeated enemies! Oh, she guesses Rayman would be there too. They could improvise something for him to do in the scene, he’s always been good at playing things up for the camera! Maybe he’ll swoop in to back her up! That would be cool!

Rabbid Peach remembers she had some videos of similar battle maneuvers they tried before! Maybe they could recreate them? She quickly scrolls through them. Signaling Rayman and Beep-O to look at them. She finds one Beep-O filmed on his tacti-cam, they could totally try that one out! She looks over towards Rayman to confirm if he likes it.

Rabbid Peach asks, “What do you think of this one you guys? I feel like the choreography would work pretty well!”

Rayman replies, “Yeah!!! That one’s awesome! We could probably change the poses a little bit. It’ll make the scene look authentic taking from our actual battles though! Great idea!”

Beep-O nods politely at their eagerness, “Hmmm, well that is a wonderful idea, but I was thinking of something of…a different mood to do.”

The thingamajig is still leaning over his rabbid friend’s shoulder looking at her phone, not making eye contact with the robot. When Rabbid Peach looks up to pay attention he looks over, confused. He asks, “Oh. What were you thinking?”.

Beep-O pipes up, “Well, I think it would be quite romantic if we were to add a kiss scene between you two! The audience would go crazy for it! Picture this! Rayman, a former enemy of the rabbids, sharing a kiss with Rabbid Peach, a beloved rabbid hero of the Mushroom Kingdom! It’s just teeming with dramatic potential! They would love it!!! What do you two think?”.

Rayman and Rabbid Peach stare at Beep-O wide-eyed, letting out a collective, “Huh?” in shock.

While surprised, Rabbid Peach agreed with her robot friend. They were playing a romance, so she figured that there was going to be potential to have a kiss scene. Plus the audience would eat it up! She and Rayman always liked them in their favorite romance movies. He was no Mario in her eyes, but at least he was handsome in his own right! Not as bad as the scenario could be when she has to kiss someone. She hoped it wouldn’t be too awkward kissing her friend though. Ew, she hopes to Rosalina that it’s not!

Peaches turned to her friend to gauge his reaction to the news…he looked nervous. Uncomfortable, even. For a moment, she noticed his snout wrinkled a bit at Beep-O’s words. He immediately covers up his displeasure with a familiar fake smile. Peaches recognizes this one. Okay, for sure something's wrong.

Rayman stammers out, “Sure! I think I’d be able to do that. …Are you okay with that Peaches?”

Rayman gives Peaches a pleading look at her response to this question. A shaky smile on his face. Oh, so you’re gonna make me do the rejection, huh Ray?, she thought.

“Hmm…I don’t know Beep-O. Maybe give us some time to think about it? Me and Ray can talk about it over the break! Plus, I need to fix up my hair for the next scene. Mind if you take me over to the dressing room Ray? I think I need to touch up your hair too. It’s looking a little rough.”

Rayman replies, not picking up on the message his friend was trying to put down, “I can fix it up myself-”

Peaches pokes his shoe with her foot, hoping to get him to play along. He finally realizes what she’s doing. And tenses up.

“I mean- Yes! Let’s head over to the dressing room! To fix our hair. Yes.”

Very subtle Ramon, Peaches thought.

Beep-O looks at them with gratitude in his voice, “Thanks guys! I’ll get the next scene prepared. Just let me know when you guys are finished, alright? Be ready in at least an hour! Bye-bye!”. The robot excitedly floats off to the set, rapidly directing the set workers to prepare for the next scene.

Rayman and Rabbid Peach shuffle off to the dressing room, Peaches scans the room to see if there could be anyone eavesdropping on them in the room before she brings in Rayman. She didn’t want anyone to hear what she needed to discuss with Rayman. She wouldn’t be able to get him to open up if there was even the chance of someone listening in on them. He’d be too embarrassed. I hope he’s okay, she thought.

Peaches sat in one of the fancy red leather vanity chairs in front of the mirror. From it, she sets up her hair iron to touch up their hair. They did need to fix themselves up after filming most of the day. She noticed Rayman standing to the side awkwardly, he seemed tense knowing they would have to talk about what happened. At least he’s not faking positivity like earlier.

Peaches pats the chair next to her, inviting Rayman to sit. He does, enjoying the sudden swerve of the chair as he sits in it. He begins pushing against the ground to turn it around faster, back and forth, making Peaches giggle. The creaks of the old vanity chair echo in the dusty dressing room.

Peaches chuckled, “Did you not know they spin?”

Rayman replies, giggling, “Hahaha! No! We don’t have technology like this back in the Glade, or at the apartment either.”

She forgot he hadn’t been staying on this planet for that long. Back at her home, not in the Mushroom Kingdom, she got used to technology similar to this one. She couldn’t imagine experiencing these things for the first time! Rayman is so funny to her. The way he can get so excited about the littlest things and make the most stagnant rooms fun.

Rabbid Peach gestures toward the lever on Rayman’s chair, “Ya’know you can adjust the height of them too?”

“Woah! Hold on, hold on. Lemme try it!”

Rayman pressed down on the lever she gestured toward.

“EGADS!”

He must’ve pressed down too hard, since the chair quickly slid down to the base of it, startling the thingamajig! His shoes made a loud CLACK as they smacked against the floor, the sound resonating in the room. This made Rabbid Peach cackle out laughing in response.

Rabbid Peach: “BWAHAHAAH!! NO! No, Rayman, you have to be more gentle than that! Here, lemme help you. Get up for a minute.”

She approached him, leaning down to fix his chair as he got up. His hand brushed against her side as she walked past him. It was warm. It’s not often that he doesn’t wear his gloves. His hand was much more rough than she expected. Maybe she should take him to get a manicure sometime with her? That would be fun! They could make a day out of it.

After tweaking the chair’s height, Peaches fixed it and motioned for him to sit again.

Peaches: “Alright it’s all good to go! Pfft- Try not to break it this time okay?”

Rayman gently batted her side at her comment, gasping dramatically as if he was offended. “What! You’re the one who suggested changing the height! What did you expect? Me to not try it out?!?”

He giggled as he sat in the chair again. At least that picked up his mood a bit, Rabbid Peach thought. She sat back in her chair too, facing the vanity, and picked up her iron now that it was warmed up enough. She ran it through her hair, straightening out the curls she accumulated throughout the day. It was getting harder to keep up with it now that she started growing it out herself. Princess Peach’s magic works wonders, that’s for sure!

Rayman swivels around his chair to stare at her as she does her hair. She felt a bit flustered at him staring at her so intently, as she could see him through the mirror staring at her. At the moment, she’s not sure that Rayman has picked up on the fact that she sees him staring. Or if he even cares about it. She breaks the tension by asking him the question he’s probably been dreading.

“So, what was that about back there? Can we talk about it?”

Rayman froze, looking downwards with an unreadable expression. He fidgets with his hands as he turns away from her.

“Yeah, we can.”

Rabbid Peach stops straightening her hair, putting the iron down. She swivels the chair over by carefully kicking off the vanity since her feet do not touch the ground. She wants to give her attention to her friend right now. She can worry about her hair later. She gently lays her hand on his hands. He stops fumbling with his fingers and looks at her.

Rabbid Peach: “It’s okay if you don’t want to kiss me, Rayman. I’m not going to make you do anything you’re uncomfortable with. Alright?”

Rayman paused, before saying, “It’s not that. The reason is just…kinda personal, okay?”

“...”

“I- I’ve never kissed anyone before. Embarrassing, right?”

Oh. Well, that’s not too bad, Peaches thought. They could always practice beforehand, right?

“That’s not bad Ray! We could always practice if that makes you more comfortable.”

The thingamajig’s face seemed to redden a bit at her statement. Oh shoot, was that too forward? Then he turned away, looking a bit sad.

After a pause, he said, “Aren’t you afraid of what the audience will think if we do?”.

Rabbid Peach’s face scrunched up in confusion. What does he mean by that? They’re both attractive, so what’s the big deal?

“What do you mean by that?” Rabbid Peach asked.

Rayman turns his face away from her and to the mirror, staring at himself in it. He touches his face, tracing over his prominent eyebags with his fingers. He seemed bothered by something. What was it? The thingamajig laughs weakly while looking at himself.

After a pause, he said, “The audience would probably hate that we’d kiss. I mean, it’s not like me and the rabbids are all on good terms either! They probably still hate me. What- what if they hate you too if we do this? I can’t let that happen!”

Rayman’s voice gets even more broken as he speaks as if he’s holding back a sob, but trying desperately to keep it in. Peaches keeps listening to him, too stunned at what he was saying to speak. Was he worried about this the whole time they were filming? How come she’d never noticed?

“I mean, c’mon Peaches, how would even I be able to kiss you? I have this big dumb snout in the way! I mean, who would even want to kiss someone like me anyway? Don’t you think? Look at me!”

His voice crumbles and quiets when he says, “Compared to you, I’m just some…ugly, limbless, stupid-!”

“Don’t you ever say that Rayman.”.

She hated hearing her friend talk about himself like that. That’s not true. It wasn’t. He was handsome, he was smart, he was funny, considerate, and so many more things! It was sad to hear that he felt like that towards himself.

She held the man's hands tighter, a strong, but welcome touch. His face turns to face Rabbid Peach, staring intently into her eyes. His bright brown eyes were watering a bit, turning slightly into a blue color.

“Ray. You are beautiful, okay? You are handsome, brave, funny, smart, considerate, and you’re a hero! The Hero of the Glade for crying out loud!! People like you and the rabbids will too, no matter what scene we film out there. Once they see you with us, see you perform, they will see you for who you are! This is our chance to change things, and we should take it! If anyone says anything about it, I will kick their butts! I swear by it! So never. And I mean never! Talk like that about yourself again. Got it?”

Rayman’s hands shifted, holding Peaches’s hands gently, rubbing circles into her palms. They’d never held hands this closely before. She felt flustered at his gentle touch, suddenly becoming fixated on the way his fingers felt on her palm.

Peaches said with conviction, “And- for the record, I think your snout is cute!”.

He sniffles, a tear drifting down his face. “Thanks, Peaches. I, really needed to hear that today.” A shaky, yet warm smile appeared on his face. The thingamajig held her hands tighter, leaning his face closer to Peaches. The rabbid felt a hot blush hit her face and ears at his closeness. She could feel his warm breath blow against the fur of her face. It smelled faintly like mint, and a bit of plum.

She had to change the subject, now. Before she did anything rash.

She pulls away from him softly, subtly returning to the safety of doing her hair. The heat radiating off the iron did not help how hot she already felt. He seemed so disappointed that she pulled away from him. She cleared her throat and proposed an idea for Rayman.

“Ahem! So, I had an idea. Maybe we could make cues for how you feel when shooting the scene? For example, um.”

Peaches’s eyes analyzed the body of her friend, wondering what visual cue he could make to communicate to her if he was okay with the kiss. The thought of kissing him did not ease her feelings, her ears becoming redder at the thought. Hopefully, they weren’t too obvious! Ew, ew ew that would be so embarrassing for her! Think! What cues could he do?

His hair would be too obvious for the camera. So would his snout and mouth, as they’d be the focus of the shot. She looked towards his hands. That’s it!

“What about your hands? Maybe you can tap my side if you want to do the kiss. That’d be a pretty subtle touch, don’t you think?”

Rayman nodded at her idea. Joining in with an idea of his own. “Oh! And you can twitch your ears if you are okay with the kiss! That sounds great!”

Rabbid Peach twitched her ears. It was pretty easy and subtle. Perfect!

Rabbid Peach: “Great! It’s a plan then! We’ve got this Ray!”

Rayman: “Yeah!”

Rayman pumped his fists in the air in excitement about the plan. His hair poofed up a bit at the movement. Cute, Rabbid Peach thought.

“Alright Ray, once I’m done I’ll fix up your hair a bit. Promise me that if you get too uncomfortable about it we can talk to Beep-O. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind too much if we can’t do it-.”

Her talking is cut off by a loud slurping sound next to her. Rayman was attempting to fix his hair by licking his hand and running through his hair. EW.

“Ramon. You are not doing that on my watch. It’s gross!”

“What? But it’s faster this way! This is what I do all the time! Plus it makes me look handsome~, as you said.”, Rayman teased.

He got her there. He did look handsome fixing his hair. She thought of all the times he did it at the beginning of their battles, brushing his hair back, only to have it cartoonishly boing back up.

“Here, I’ll show you.”

Her thoughts were broken by Rayman’s gross wet hand moving towards her, a mischievous look on his face. She knew what he was thinking, put down the iron gently on the vanity, and booked it out the door. She slammed the door shut as she left, hoping to get ahead of the thingamajig. Her friend sprinted after her, slamming open the door she closed in his pursuit.

“BWAHAHAHA!! NO. NO. NO. Rayman don’t you DARE touch me!! Eek!”

His hand floated quickly past her, slamming into the wall behind her. She was lucky she dodged out of the way just in time. He stands in front of her, breathing heavily with all the effort he went through to catch up to her. He looked tired but determined by the chance to mess with his friend. Fine, if he wants to play this game, she’ll just have to keep running! She slides away from him in between where his legs should be. Continuing her sprint down the hall. She could hear the rapid thumping of Rayman’s shoes behind her.

The pair go from set to set in an almost never-ending chase, startling the all rabbids they ran by. Every time Rayman tried to catch her, she’d get away. Whenever she got away, he would always catch up. Rabbid Peach enjoys his competitive nature. She always had. It was fun to play these games with him.

At some point, she knew they could not do this any longer. They were getting exhausted. She ran up on a set familiar to her, tripped on a prop, and fell to the ground. Rayman ran up to the stage, pouncing on top of her and quickly pinning her to the stage floor with his hands. They stared at each other, breathing heavily, the adrenaline of the chase starting to wear down. It made them feel like it was just them in the room.

“*Wheeze*. Looks like- hah- I finally caught you, huh?”

“Yeah, hah- I guess you did. Hehehe!”

The two were startled by the sudden familiar voice of their friend Beep-O.

“Are- we interrupting something here you guys?”

The whole crew was staring at them. Of course, out of all the sets they could choose, it had to be the one they had to be at! A wave of embarrassment hit Rabbid Peach as she noticed some head directors there too. Guess they were excited about the potential of the kiss scene too. She needed to straighten herself up, now!!

Rayman seemed stunned, still looking at Rabbid Peach, positioned over her. Like he was in a daze. She crawls out from under him, quickly dusting herself off. Once she does, her friend snaps out of it and stands up beside her. Awkwardly shoving his hands into his hoodie.

Rabbid Peach: “Nope! We’re fine Beep-O! Don’t worry about it too much. Hahaha!”

The robot looks her up and down when she says that. A confused expression on his face.

Beep-O: “Okay…? Are you guys ready to film yet? It’s almost time.”

Rabbid Peach: “In a minute. I’ve gotta fix myself up first. It’ll only take a second!”

Beep-O raises an eyebrow on his face screen. Looking her up and down.

Beep-O: “I thought you guys left to do that?”

Crap. He got her there. Yeah…she’s got nothing to backup that statement. They did waste a lot of time with their game of cat and mouse.

Beep-O: “Alright…well, I’ll leave you to it. Be ready soon, okay?”

The robot floats off to the set, helping the set workers coordinate the props on set.

Ugh! Now she’s going to have to film the scene looking like a mess!!! Unless…

The rabbid looks defeatedly at her friend Rayman. He seemed like he had a lot on his mind. Tapping his foot as he stood there. Her gaze pans to the hand in his hoodie pocket. This was her only option. She had to trust him.

“Ray.”

The limbless looks over at her, suddenly snapping out of the shock he was in.

“Oh! What’s up Peaches?”

“Sigh. Can you fix up my hair? Please?”

Rayman gets an overly smug look on his face. Pulling his hand out of his hoodie pocket and cradling his chin with it, pretending to look conflicted.

“Hmmm. I don’t know if I can Peaches. You did say it was…what did you say, oh yeah, gross? I just don’t know if you trust my expertise in hair care.” he says teasingly.

While she wasn’t in the mood to be teased in front of the directors, after she saw the joyful look on his face, she couldn’t get mad at him. You’ve gotta make it difficult for me, huh Ramon? Peaches thought. Oh well, this could be a chance to get her hair done and butter Rayman up a bit before the filming. He needed a confidence boost after all!

Rabbid Peach waved her hand around, rolling her eyes. She says playfully, “Ugh! Fine, I’m sorry Ray. I stand by the fact it’s a little gross, but I can admit that it works great! I mean it works wonders for your hair.” She lightly smacks her friend on the back after that comment.

He recoils from the smack, but shies away from her gaze, his face becoming a bit red at the comment. “Heh, thanks Peaches.”. A goofy grin on his face. She’s glad that made him happy. She meant what she said. She hopes someday he can believe it for himself too.

“Alright! Let’s get that hair fixed up. Ready Peaches?”

The thingamajig licks his hand again and moves it toward her hair. The moment Rabbid Peach dreaded is approaching. She cringes and closes her eyes, getting ready for him to immediately touch her. After a few seconds, she opens her eyes, realizing he hasn’t touched her yet. As if he was waiting for something.

Oh, right. She hasn’t said it was okay yet to touch her. She felt touched that he considered that. Her body stops tensing up. He was just trying to help her. She just had to be brave about it. She’s not afraid of a little spit! She’s seen worse!

“Oh! I’m ready now Ray. Heh, sorry.”

“It’s alright Peaches, just wanted to check first.”

She felt his wet hand gently run through her hair, smoothing out any pieces of hair out of place. Huh, it doesn’t feel as bad as she thought. It’s almost like a hair stylist washing your hair. Hmm, maybe thingamajig spit is meant for grooming their hair. That’s pretty cool! She’d have to ask him later.

“Aaaaand- finished! Tadahhhh!”

Peaches held up her phone to look at herself through the selfie camera. Her hair looked…pretty. Like, really good actually!!! She stood there, her mouth agape, patting her hair carefully, afraid to ruin it. How did he do this? It was so impressive and-. Now she won’t look like a mess in front of the directors! Oh, thank Rosalina!!

“Rayman!! Oh my gosh! Thank you so so much!!”

Peaches hugs Rayman tightly in her excitement, picking him up slightly off the ground and spinning around joyfully.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!!”

Rayman wraps his hands around Peaches, holding onto her shoulders, so as to not touch her newly done hair. His floating feet swung wildly in the air.

“Hahaha! Okay, okay! I’m glad you like it! Now put me down silly!”

Rabbid Peach puts him back down on the ground. The two smile warmly at each other. Until a loud voice cuts them off over a megaphone.

Beep-O: “ALRIGHT EVERYONE!! We will begin filming in five minutes! Please get ready!”

The pair of friends looked at each other as they rushed off to the set. As they hurriedly put on their costumes, their friend Beep-O approaches them.

“So, did you guys decide if you are comfortable with the kiss idea? No pressure to do it if you two do not want to! Since the scene is already scripted you might have to improvise. Remember this is the first take, so do not worry if you mess up. Just remember we need to impress because the head directors are here and-”

Rayman and Rabbid Peach share a look at each other as their robot friend rambles. Rabbid Peach flicks her ears at Rayman, cueing that she’s comfortable with doing the kiss. Rayman taps her side with a gloved hand. Meaning that he wants to do it as well.

Wow. We’re doing this, huh? Peaches thought.

The two share a nod and cut off Beep-O’s panicked rant.

Rabbid Peach: “We’ve decided we want to do the kiss scene.”

Beep-O: “I mean I completely understand if-. Wait. What.”

Rayman says confidently, “We’re ready to do the kiss scene. It’ll go great with the movie! I’m sure the audience will love it, like you said, and-”.

Rayman is cut off by a shrill sheik coming from their robot friend, almost like his program has hit a fatal error. Rabbid Peach’s fur stands on end from the sudden sound. Rayman recoils back from the noise waving a hand in front of his rabbid friend to protect her in case he explodes or something.

“WONDERFUL!! OH ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!! THANK YOU BOTH SO MUCH!!! EEEEEEEEEE!!! OH THIS WILL GO GREAT IN THE MOVIE! Gasp! I NEED TO TELL THE HEAD DIRECTORS. NOW.”

Beep-O flies throughout the set, commanding everyone to get in their places before excitedly heading off to the head directors of The Space Opera Network. Once finished, he flies over the set.

“Alright, everyone! Places people! Places! We start in a minute!”

Rabbid Peach and Rayman share a knowing look, snorting out a chuckle at the events they just witnessed. Rayman takes the hand he waved out in front of Rabbid Peach and drifts it next to hers. She takes it in her grasp, holding it tightly. They step forward together, confidently walking towards the stage.

art heist au: unpublished! anya works at a distinguished gallery, a painting from her late parents' collection they thought had been lost in a tragic fire just recently sprung up into the public eye again, but it's being auctioned off soon and anya isn't happy about it, since she thinks it contains the secrets of what really happened to her family. dmitry visits the gallery in attempts to steal it, but she catches him in the act and they decide to strike up a deal-- if he helps her forge a copy, she'll let him have the original to sell once she does more research and sees if it actually ~contains the secrets~ she's looking for. it's about the intrigue, the drama, the mystery, the reluctant alliance turned romance. good stuff. as long as i can figure out a plot structure aslhkdf

post breakup/get back together fic: unpublished. slightly inspired by the song 'if the world was ending,' but instead of an earth quake it's a snow storm and talk of the world ending with the new year. set during new years eve, anya visits him for the first time since they broke up a year ago and Talk about things that happened, interwoven with some flashbacks of their relationship from beginning to end. i also made another banger playlist for this guy.

equestrian au: dmitry and vlad are show jumping trainers down on their luck, anya is the new stablehand dmitry finds sleeping in the stall with her ugly horse (pooka <3). but when vlad decides her hidden talent is worth sculpting into a refined show jumping career, the three of them team up to make it to the FEI world cup in Paris, where Marie Feodorovna will be watching and contributing to the winning purse. maybe anya will find the home love family she's looking for idk.

crazy rich asians au: inspired by the movie, but without the hazing and the drama and the angst, so it's mostly just a meet the parents au of a sort with some nice and fluffy established dimya. anya's sister is getting married and she wants to use the event as a way to introduce dmitry, her long time bf, to the family. dmitry is excited about potentially asking for the Family Ring (👀) and leaving new york for the first time to visit the homeland (would the wedding be in russia? or would they get married in the french riviera or something a bit warmer?) until he figures out just how wealthy anya's family is. he knew she came from wealth, but not quite to this extent, and gets a little insecure about it. shenanigans ensue.

I don't think Obi-Wan would ever have become a Sith. Literally, one of the biggest points about him as a character is that despite all the bullshit and absolute insanity he goes through, he never gives in to the Dark Side.

BUT--

A part of me can't help but wonder what would have happened if Obi-Wan--for whatever absolutely character breaking reason--took Dooku up on his offer and joined the Sith/Separatist, how differently things would have gone down in the Clone Wars.

Because from where I'm standing, we all already know that Obi-Wan's biggest things is never half-assing literally anything he does. He always puts himself into any task he's given. He's just incapable of not seeing things to their absolute finish and then some.

I've read a few Sith!Obi-Wan AU fics and fan comics with this exact premise and I do find it fascinating how people have gone about exploring this sort of concept. There are, of course, quite a number of powerhouse Sith!Obi-Wan AUs where he just straight decimates the GAR and the Republic (usually with the intent of killing Darth Sidious in the end). But I'm also fascinated by the handful of stories I've seen where Obi-Wan doesn't necessarily become an actual Sith, but joins Dooku (whether as a voluntary double agent or due to time-travel shenanigans) in order to 1) Find out who the true Sith Lord is and take them down and/or 2) To attempt stymieing the overall devastation the war has on the entire galaxy.

So as OOC as Sith!Obi-Wan feels to me, I can't help but share the fascination that others do with the endless "What ifs?" scenarios that can spring to mind with an AU like this.

Especially, when you start thinking about the potential ways Darth Sidious would react to having a hypercompetent Force User and experienced military general "on his side."

Yeah, Sheev was hyperfocused on Anakin for reasons. But I can't help but sorta vibe with some of Sith!Obi-Wan AUs I've seen where Mister Sidious either 1) Realizes what an actual threat Obi-Wan is to his ultimate goal of becoming Emperor of the entire galaxy, and tries to get Dooku to get rid of him as result (similar to what he ordered Dooku to do with Asajj) or 2) Realizes that while Anakin is an absolute powerhouse in the force, Obi-Wan is sort of next level due to not having the copious, never ending layers of unstable emotional drama that Anakin is.

(Of course, being emotionally unstable is sort of the prime requirement for any powerful Dark Sider, but I raise you this--the amount of traumatic bullshit Obi-Wan has gone through is just about as insane, if not a little more, than Anakin. It would just take someone immorally depraved enough, like Mister Sidious, to really torture and drag all that trauma out of Obi-Wan to the point that he'd use said trauma to fuel his Sith abilities. Again, I don't think Obi-Wan would ever give in to the Dark Side even if Sheev was his main tormentor, but we're playing around in the Sith!Obi-Wan AU right now. After all, "The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural").

I do feel obligated to sort of mention that sheer amount of angst that naturally comes with this sort of AU, but I don't feel the actual need to go super in depth with it. Just because, well, Obi-Wan in his natural canon state is already a bottomless well of angst and sadness pfffttt

Making him a Sith doesn't really change much in that regard for me, other than for other artists and fic writers to explore the darker elements of SW. Mainly, the horrific and outright torture that comes with being trained as a Sith and, you know, the atrocities of a galaxy wide war (just typically in more graphic detail and from a far more bleak perspective).

Tldr: I don't have an issue with Sith!Obi-Wan despite how horribly OOC it feels to me. I am absolutely and utterly impressed with the writers and artists who have fleshed out this AU in the detail and depths that they have. Y'all are so much stronger than me and I am grateful to everyone who was able to answer some of the questions bouncing around in my head through their art.

Yeah, I went on a Sith!Obi-Wan/Separatist AU spree a while back just out of curiousity and these are what I personally consider to be some of best (or at the very least, the ones I enjoyed most). Keep in mind, these fics range everywhere from Gen to Explicit/Mature and some do pertain to particular ships. That being said, I find the way these authors go about tackling Dark Sider/Sith/Separatist Obi-Wan to be pretty compelling. So approach these fics with all of that in mind, but do give extra kudos and comments to these writers. Alright this was another really REALLY good episode, but... now I'm stuck with the crazy theory that Mateo is the anomaly 🤣

I'm sure I'm wrong and I'm just blowing this out of proportion, but what if Strict examined that plant and found traces of Z AND Mateo? What if Lunia's hourglass was found by him for a reason?

She said that the anomaly appeared "the other night" so it was clearly Z Blob... but technically the other night was when the show started for me, so I might see this as Mateo appearing in this world for the first time. Could it be he fit in in one night, everyone's memories were changed to accept that, and no one questions this?

... I know this just me headcanoning left and right and it's clearly not gonna happen

‘Ship Bias’

Send ‘Ship Bias’ and I will share up to 5 Ships I have a bias for for my muse!

So, five four ships. It can't be so complicated, can it? (Dangerous last words, I know.)

I'm going to stay within the bounds of canon (interpretation-agnostic) characters for this one, because otherwise I'd be naming every single ship I have on this blog, and many are with wonderful OCs. This said, as usual, my bias for these ships doesn't change the fact that nothing matters as much as in-character chemistry, and each interpretation is different. (And look, we all know that some of the best ships are those that sneak on you when you least expect it). This said, there goes the list.

Peter, particularly Insomniac Peter

I am very weak for best friends to lovers progressions, and even more for best friends to enemies to lovers, and this ship is the pinnacle of it. A ship built on loyalty and years of knowing each other, but easily challenged by things such as honesty, trust and secrets. Two people with quite a lot of pride, who match each other in stubbornness but also in the desire to do good by the city and by each other.

Add to it secret identities and there's as much angst and potential for hurt and comfort as you could want.

MJ, particularly Insomniac MJ

An occasionally reckless but determined investigative journalist, the bane of the corruption in the city, dating the son of one of the most corrupt people, and someone who is letting himself get dragged into that underworld step by step. Now make them childhood friends, and genuinely best friends in adulthood as well, and you have all the potential drama you could want, while also all the chances for them to work together and support each other in their attempts to make the city a better place.

Peter & MJ (yes, the three of them).

I was so in love with what we could see of their dynamic in the first game, and then I read the prequel novel and I fell even more in love with the three of them. They balance each other beautifully, despite the secrets being kept, and while moving from three friends into three partners wouldn't come without difficulties, it would also be a very solid dynamic to explore, and one that would terrify most of the corrupt people in the city.

TASM Peter

This one is me cheating a bit, because I live on the fence of writing TASM Harry, and even not counting that I base my Harry a lot on that one. Mainly because Insomniac Harry is definitely much softer than the genuinely kind but still very much of a snake Harry that I write.

This said, I've been thinking about this one a bit again and there's something delicious about multiversal shenanigans, universes that are distorted (or just slightly blurry) mirrors of each other, and the quiet, terrible realizations that come with it... accompanied by also quiet chances to heal.
