I've been sick and haven't slept in 2 days cuz of it, so no new art being posted rn. I don't like how I made them look design-wise but I'm kinda proud of how I did the perspective pose with the both of them.

the resentment leo would have with splinter post-krang. i genuinely think they would take a bit for them to recover and be comfortable around each other

why do i think that? here’s some reasons. this is gonna be a HELLA long analysis so be prepared. sit down, grab some popcorn, and let’s dive in

in the movie, after raph was taken, leo goes on a whole rant about how he got the key, he gets the answers, and he will get raph back. yes this is irrational and brash, but not in leo’s eyes. in his eyes, this is a foolproof plan that will work

splinter attempts to intervene, and tell him like it is. “it’s not your plan, you need to work with your team.” however, it comes out as a sharp sting to leo’s previous attitude

“My son, listen to your team. This is not about you.”

it’s meant to be sensible and wise, but to leo, it’s a jab at him. it’s a stab at his cockiness and self-centered attitude, and it reminds leo of why they’re even in this position in the first place. which he hates

most of all, it’s splinter saying it. it’s his father telling him that it’s not about him. because to leo, he’s always been last place to splinter’s affection, and it’s like splinter’s confirming it here

don’t believe me? here:

splinter talks to leo, and it seems that for a minute, he listens to his father’s words. that maybe he should really stop and listen. maybe he should stop and think of a plan, listen to his brothers’ input.

but the second splinter says it’s not about him? leo shuts down. he pulls away from splinter, and refuses to listen to him. and while splinter may be right, it was something leo never wanted to hear

it’s obvious that he has a somewhat testy relationship with his father, and splinter is trying to make up for it by giving leadership advice. but to leo? this is the guy who made him leader to seemingly mess with him, never bothered to give him attention or praise on his accomplishments, and never truly knew leo beyond his “acting as the best to save face” charade

which brings me to another reason. no, i do not think splinter was ever abusive or purposely neglectful to leo, or any of the boys for that matter. but its clear theres a bit of a rift between him and leo. i think that he kind of resents leo a bit (without meaning to) because he sees himself in him. he sees the irrational movie star who never thought ahead, and made too many mistakes to count

an example would be when leo got punched by lou jitsu two times. none of his brothers got punched, why just him? and sure it could be a running gag, but i find it also to be intentional

maybe deep down, splinter still resents leo for being so much like his irrational, unreasonable younger self. that every time he sees leo, he sees his stupid past self, and without meaning to, he at times hates leo because of it. and if he doesn’t hate him, he seems to resent him to some extent

splinter also has plainly stated that donnie was the funniest one to him, (s1ep 1, mystic mayhem) and outright laughed when leo asked if he was the favorite son (rottmnt wake-up alarms on youtube, timestamp 1:59) leo also staight-up said that he was splinter’s least favorite (s1ep 4b, down with the sickness)

so yeah, i can see the resentment leo may have for his father deep down. it could be pretty apparent post-krang, hidden behind his jokes and teases

now don’t get me wrong, they have their moments of bonding, and i do love to read little drabbles and fics where they hug and heal. however… realistically speaking, it would take a while for them to get to that stage of father-son bonding post-krang. with splinter naming him leader out of the blue, to the missing lou jitsu posters on the walls of leo’s room in the movie — and we’re definitely talking about that in a later post, trust — i would bet their relationship as father-son pre and post-movie would be extremely rocky.

another reasoning for this could be that splinter often underestimates and undermines leo’s abilities and accomplishments. far as i’ve seen, the most reaction splinter’s given to leo’s accomplishments is an eyebrow raise

for example, when outsmarting big mama, leo was genuinely proud of spending time w his dad and showing him his abilities. he genuinely thought they were working together. however, splinter didn’t say he was proud or anything, just complained he wished he’d brought donnie (s2ep 2, many unhappy returns)

“I knew I should have brought Purple.”

ouch. that mustve hurt a bit

and yes, i will admit, leo was being a bit of a little shit in this scene, and yes, he could’ve told splinter of the plan before starting to yap and blab to big mama about the plan he cooked up. however, the response splinter gives is not much better. essentially, he’s saying, “i don’t like this kid or his plan, so therefore i think i should’ve brought one of my favored children to solve the problem better.”

and before you go and tell me donnie could’ve outsmarted big mama the way leo did, think for a moment. leo fully admitted to manipulating and lying in an episode before

“I don’t lie, I just… change the truth.”

whereas donnie cannot tell a lie to save his life. i love him, but the guy is a shit liar. he has failed multiple times at it

“We are just typical normal humans.. who got lost in the middle of our normal… everyday human lives— nailed it.”

“Uh… nothing. Just having a typical, normal, mystic-free day.” “What? I said mystic-free.”

“Why aren’t you guys more upset?”

“Oh. This… hurts me. Uh… I’m very sad…?”

raph & mikey aren’t much better. mikey straight-up started sweating when he had to lie to splinter about piebald, and raph has so many different stinks/scents to him that it’d be easy for others to tell he was lying

also, mikey has doctor delicate touch. who does not know what lying or “don’t be blunt” means

and donnie’s really only being extremely straightforward with what he thinks or about what’s going on around him. so it makes no sense as to why splinter would want to bring donnie along to outsmart big mama, unless he genuinely doesn’t enjoy leo’s presence, which seems to be the case

now all of this is evidence to point towards a very unsteady father-son relationship with these two. yes, splinter seems to be a very lenient father, and i genuinely think he wants to be a good dad. however, oftentimes that leads to miscommunication and misread moments, empty promises, and overall neglecting behavior on his part, all without meaning to

so while he does try harder to be there for his sons later in the show, it’s pretty obvious that one brother — who thrived off any attention possible — probably stopped caring about that validation after all that he went through. splinter gives, but leo doesn’t take. he doesn’t bother to, because he thinks it’s either a prank of some kind, or because he just genuinely doesn’t care for his father’s input anymore.

Alternate realities

Four brothers hang out under the clouded moon, Basking in New York City’s noises and light. They talk and they laugh on a roof out of sight; It’s too late for duty – and for sleep, too soon. They may be teenagers but at their center Lay powers and forces that never tire,  Sparks of energy, everlasting fire –  Often at the service of quips and banter.  The Blue one gushes about a job well done, The smile of the Red one is nothing but proud, The Orange one wonders silly things out loud Of which Purple knows much, yet kindly says none. “If everything changed,” Orange suddenly asks,  “In another life, or place, or world, or time Would we keep our colors? Would we still wear masks? Would we still be ninja turtles fighting crime?” Red and Blue whistle and start theorizing Orange happily helps their ideas fuse But Purple falls silent. His pulse is rising.  Science is calling. Who is he to refuse?

Between dearest walls, he retreats with his tools In one hand a pen, in the other a cup Both needed for work – he doesn't make the rules. Hours become days, still the math won't add up. As he struggles hard to make equations fit Something starts nudging at the back of his mind.  He is close – to what? He cannot quite name it Then, in a split second, dimensions unbind. 

It feels like his thoughts Are now being shared.   He tries to reach out. Perhaps, if he dared –   

Contact. Confusion. New realities. Alternate versions. Other families.

He sees things that he doesn't remember Unknown memories blending together.

Echoes of voices, Tales ancient and new All of them are his; All of them are true.

His instincts kick in The gears start to spin Narrowing on – There! The thing they all share –

Struggle. Everywhere. Missions, miseries Mortal ennemies Pressure and anger Menace and danger

Every version of him Every version of them They all stand. They all bite. They all dread and they all fight.

And Purple flinches. Can this be their essence? Responsability over insouciance Honor and duty against opposition Sacrifice for all without recognition?

No. That can't be it. This isn't who they are, Their fate can't be written with tears shed so far. In his heart, he knows there must be something more; With a switch, e feels it, pulising at the core.

The bad and the good things flow from the same source And he shifts and pushes to swim up its course. It all comes from a place of fondness and care The urge to take risks, to protect and repair The sense of justice and the dedication All boundless affection in demonstration.

The feeling is strong. As he follows its trace, The fragments of truth at once click into place. There, clear as day, is the universal law: Accross dimensions, the Turtles don't withdraw.

Lightheaded, Purple comes back to his senses. His lab feels too small; he needs wider spaces. He goes to the kitchen – the pizza smells nice Watches his brothers fight over the last slice Leans in the doorway and finds himself staring. His soul is catching up; his heart is flaring.

The familiar shouts of loss and victory Help him se the fabric of reality. No matter the world, no matter the plots twists In every timeline, his family exists.

The rift between their universes is crossed; Everywhere, there are green heroes in the night There are masks and colors even when all's lost There are sparks and fire ever shining bright

Faith stronger than doubt, Trust louder than fear Hope warmer than drought Love closer than near.

A Blanket For Your Troubles:

Leon didn't make it out of the prison dimension.

His soul, in the image of him as a tot, remains unable to rest and haunts a strange world similar to his own where he meets four older mutants like him who try to help him move on.

He either remains dead and goes back to his ancestors or somehow is able to reunite with his family.

Depends on how much you want to hurt.

To prove yourself:

Three sets of the unique family end up trapped in the Rottmnt universe, where they must raise the Rottmnt crew with a recently mutated Splinter.

However, the differences between them prove to cause a rift in a certain young slider who's growing self-hatred comes to head in one final encounter.

Where he must prove himself.

Cruel Joke:

When you're on your death bed, you expect to be met with those you've loved who were lost along the way, greeting you with open arms.

What you don't expect is to awaken with four baby versions of you and your siblings, crawling all over you, and an image of your father that is vastly different than from what you can remember.

The universes final "Fuck you", to the last ninja turtle standing.

Party Crasher:

A fun, annual universal gathering of your favorite TMNT versions is rudely intruded by one incredibly injured and very feral, red-eared slider that gives one of them a cast and the other a minor concussion.

With their party ruined, the collection of turtles, and their companions, must begrudgingly help this strange turtle rediscover their identity and heal fast to discover just what the absolute hell caused so much damage to something so young.

Also, they like apples.

Not my brothers:

The smallest holds them together. So when the youngest dies in their arms, they lose their glue.

The blue one becomes protective and clingy. He assumes the worst and uses his blade to fix it.

Purple keeps track and imprisons to keep safe. He's not afraid to use his tech for certain situations.

Big red keeps them from straying far, no matter what must be done to do so.

Michelangelo must treat these versions of his brothers like monsters that'll kill him at a moments notice because thats exactly what they've become.

Idk that's just what I remember. I don't like it.

Blood in the Streets:

Leon gets a strange yokai disease that makes him crave flesh. He has to hide the problem while his brothers help a newly arrived vampire hunter hunt down beasts. Unfortunately, he is quite attractive.

Mystic Odyssey outline/concept

Ithaca - 2012 Leo (Who I will call Dysseus) arrives back home in TMNT 2012. He sits down to explain everything to his family. (aka we go like 20 years into the past to see everything that lead here)

The Cyclops - The Resistance flees from new work to find safety but Raph and Cassandra Die via krang monster and April takes Casey Jr and Leaves.

The Iliad -  The Resistance trades with a city founded by Bishop. He finds out about Mikey's powers and kidnaps him. The Resistance declares war to get him back. It lasted 10 years. During the final battle Leo finds Mikey and Mikey tells him he has to kill a child who had been given his powers so he doesn't destroy the world one day. Leo kills the kid. Donnie blows up the city then Dies. and the now vengeful ghost of the dead kid (Slash) puts Leo in a coma. Mikey then Fucks off to make a city for the survivors. (I plan on fleshing this out more to make it more like the og Iliad story)

The Odyssey - Dysseus got stuck in rottmnt around when the Iliad started, but he had no idea that was happening. He did nothing for like 10 years until he decided to go off and try and find something. He finds Yuichi and he takes him to live in a refugee camp for like a year until Slash forces them to run cause he thought Dyssues was Leo and started Attacking killing people.

Sylla - They travel more and get attracted by stuff and more people die (slash attacks them too.)

Circe - They meet Mikey and he turns half of Dysseus’s crew to stone. He gets Magic blood from Mikey's dead Family so he can win. He does but the magic blood runs out ig and Dysseus is powerless. Mikey is reminded of his Leo so he tries to get him to stay but he doesn't want to so they make a deal. He goes down to the hidden city to get the crying titan (a power source). If he comes back his crew will be returned, if he doesn't he’s probably dead.

Underworld(Hidden City) - They go to the hidden city. It’s overrun by Krang and pretty much a death trap. Dyssues and Yuichi spent 3 years there. 

They fight siren like monsters

They fight Slash.

They FInd Draxum who points them the way and tells them not to kill (Not go near?) so Cannibal people that live down here, if they do they will have to face Slash.

They fight Charybdis 

Some of Dysseus's (crew/him) kill and or go near the cannibals and everyone but Yuichi and Dysseus die.

Dysseus Goes ape shit. Kills a ton of stuff, screams at slash and gets the crying titan.

(Somehow???) They get back to Mikey and give him the titan to power the city. Dysseus realizes that while yes he needs to stop being so merciful during war he can’t lose himself like Mikey did.

Phaeacians(Basically the things are finally going my way arc) - They get Mikey to agree to rebuild the resistance to try and kill Krang prime and or nope out to another dimension. This all takes 7 years 

They find old lady April, Casey Jr and (at some point maybe here) Baxter Stockboy, and they get them to agree to rebuild.

They fight the Krang and stuff for a while.

They realize it is truly too late so they come up with Plan Ithaca. Aka fuck off to Dyssuse dimension and make a new home there.

They get there (Yipy)  

Also Leo wakes up from his coma and takes up the role of general again.

Calypso - the story ends and Dyssues’s Family is flabbergasted. They try and get him to leave the resistance and go back to being a ninja so this can go back to normal (despite the fact that he’s in his thirds now while his brothers aren't even 16 yet)

Killing the suitors - they finally leave Dyssues be and decide to join him in the fight (Now it’s against the US government, 2012 krang, 2012 shredder, and random Krang zombies that made it through the big old rift that got them here in the first place.)

The End… holy shit I finished the outline for this wack ass story.

... god I hope this makes since. this has been kinda been a passion project tbh, as much as I love my Bird AU, Lost and scared, and dark Ninpo... Mystic Odyssey, Leo's Descent and one I haven't posted about called Performers Garden really have my heart, love and attention!

May not look like it, but this guy is indeed part of the original continuity tmnt iteration I'm doing, called Sideways Skateboards. He's kind of this universe's "mystic force", like how rottmnt had the yokai and mystic mojo. More about him under the cut, as well as world lore for Sideways Skateboards.

His name is Hi Hi, which can be written as one word, two, or with a hyphen, and he's a self-described agent of chaos. The 'God' bit is untrue, as he's really more of a force, not something that people would notice and worship. In the Sideways Skateboards universe, North America looks a bit different. Here's a very sketchy map of it:

Scientists theorize that this region of the world once looked very different, but some huge seismic or even meteoric event caused there to be a huge rift that carves right through North America and Mexico. That big red dot is New San Francisco, this world's combination San Fran and New York, and where the turtles reside. And unbeknownst to them, the land NSF was built on was the place where the great chaos spirit, Yonchi, made its last appearance 5000 years ago. Its said that the spirit had 2 sides: Hi-Hi, the creator, and Yonchi, the destructor. There used to be balance between the 2, but Yonchi became too greedy, wishing to blight the entire connected landmass. So Hi-Hi swallowed Yonchi whole, sewing his teeth with a needle and thread so they could never escape. But if he simply tried to hold back all the chaos in his throat, he would surely choke, so he opened great holes in his teeth so that little bits of negativity could leak out and keep him from dying.

WHOOF that was a lot of lore, but I hope everyone enjoyed it. I'm gonna be getting the first chapter of the TMNT: Sideways Skateboards fic out soon, so I can turn this into an actual thing and not just a few reference pics. "Usagi versions" fancomic draft

Made this yesterday morning bc I wanted to draw other versions (fan designs) of Yuichi Usagi, been meaning to from before, but then it devolved into a comic draft. I like how this came out x3

Bonus comics at the end! w Spot and auntie + the warmup doodle for this whole thing🐰🦖

The joke is basically that, after falling through a transdimensional rift, Usagi finds himself in a room with other Yuichi Usagi versions. A reference to how the usagi chronicles/rottmnt crossover joint fandom makes up a lot of their own Usagis, either based on the show (Yuichi Usagi), the comic, the other animated versions or just make up a new Rise version for their own fanworks. Although the show version is one of my favourite characters, I always thought that making fandesigns and AUs is really fun and creative in other fandoms I've been in. I'm too lazy to make one myself and like the canon version just fine, but it's cool seeing what other fans do with the concept!

Anyway I just thought it would be a fun excuse to make a fancomic and possibly draw those multiple versions one day, but the comic thumbnailing became too fun so I forgot to use specific versions in the comic. like you can see one page just has a sketch with notes on it referring to it as a gif. I'd like to do that, it could be fun. Another time!

tried to do some writing, blinking cursor put an end to that. talking about my wips is the surest way to get me to write about them so here we go, I'mma scroll through Notes and jabber about what catches my fancy. questions are welcome. spoilers are present.

Penance — (ROTTMNT) A Plot: mikey has a Bad Time. B Plot: donnie is gone, but leo's brother is still there. it's complicated. (donnie was very good at ruining the krang's plans. the krang took that personally. the krang couldn't afford to kill him yet. the krang found a compromise.) C Plot: this world/timeline revolves around Casey Jones, but no one has told him that.

[Re-Mutation] — (2012) Mikey falls face-first into a plot device, and it causes a rift in the family. On the one side: the realization of hopes and dreams only some of them were conscious of. On the other: everything they've ever known. Mikey never wanted to land on the side he's on. He never wanted there to be sides. But Karai's there, so that's cool.

Triple-A Battery — (Rise/2012) Leo encounters a very strange new Foot Clan, who trick him into repairing a very strange suit of armor. He gets a very strange helmet. A very strange little turtle, covered in stickers and sporting an orange bandana, decides that the helmet is a bad look and helps him yeet it into the sun. Or something.

Shoes for Turtles — (pseudo-original) i will never shut up about this one ok fun new family dynamics! Don is the oldest, Raph is the calm one (relative to his brothers), Mike is the punk loner (spoiler he can't manage that and keeps making friends everywhere he goes), April is the responsible one, Casey is a lunatic but also a good student and is the one teaching the guys how to take care of a kid. And Leo? Leo hates shoes.

Casey Jones is a Fictional Character — (Rise) Michelangelo accidentally made a person out of the imagination and mystic powers of his family's collective mental dumpster fires in the wake of a failed training exercise. Draxum is very offended about all of it. Raph, Donnie, and April keep forgetting they're alive. Leo broke his arm — not the bone(s) in his arm, he broke his arm. Mikey is fine.

Landing — (ROTTMNT) second part to Drifting. Donnie and Leo react to new developments in very different ways. ninpo shenanigans. mikey has a bad time.

Rottmnt x Empires x Hermitcraft

Leo is practicing using his portals, and accidentally whisks Donnie and himself away to Empires S2

While Leo does do accidental portal trips sometimes, he always finds his way back. His brothers know this. But suddenly it’s been a few days, and no sign of either of them. Not even a text.

Mikey and Raph realize they might be in trouble, and try to find them using a portal Mikey made in panic (which does leave his arms and hands a little more messed up than they were). But instead of finding them, they end up in Hermitcraft S9

The two groups eventually find each other when the Hermit rift takes them to Empires with the other hermits, and one or more of the Empires people recognize them, and help them reunite.

Nobody talks about the Misfortune Sisters and honestly that’s just kind of tragic because during my play through of the game they, especially Charm, have been my favorite battles/interactions.

I’m sorry but Legends Arceus gave us the Misfortune Sisters and everyone sleeps on them.

You have Coin (likely ancestor of Team Galactic’s Saturn)-who is implied to have some sort of dispute that soured her disposition with her clan, causing her to leave and take up work with the Galaxy Team. Something soured her attitude towards people, where before she had “always been willing to help others, if begrudgingly” (Irida’s words). The incident also seemed to have left some doubts in her abilities as a trainer, her remarks when she loses a battle are rather self deprecating. 

The there’s Clover, impatient, clever, and frankly kind of feral. She just up and left the Diamond Clan one day to join the Security Corps, only to quit that job to become a thief. Nobody in the Diamond Clan knew where she went and were still actively looking for her by the time Adaman bumped into them with Akari.

Charm is probably my favorite antagonist I’ve seen in a while. She is one of the two people in the game that is IMMEDIATELY sympathetic to Akari’s case instead of suspicious. This is a child being sent to the work most adults are to afraid too, without any training of her own. She see’s Akari’s kindness, and tell’s her off the bat that she should be careful. “Not everyone can afford that luxury.” She’s one of the original Galaxy Team members from Kanto and she went “f*** it, I’m done.”

I WISH PLA got a little more development time so that we could have seen a proper throw down between her and Kamado, as well as Coin and Clover with their former clan leaders. 

I want to know so bad what made them leave their homes for a thief’s lifestyle. You can sort of piece together Coin’s situation, and how it possibly involves the warden of another poison-fighting type, but as for the others were left kind of clueless.

They Probably Think Ingo’s Dead

TLDR: 

Why is everyone assuming the people in the present thinks Ingo is missing?

The most likely scenario (to me anyways) is that they think a tunnel collapsed on him, given the line of his work and how violent the time rifts seem to be.

The Subway Bosses are investigating the strange readings from ATO’s navigational system that’s messing with the trains.

They reach the most concentrated region- an older but still sturdy and usable part of the tracks- and start searching for the source.

Their in the middle of investigating the tracks, walking opposite directions when the time rift hits, causing extreme structural damage.

Chaos erupts as the Subway Bosses try to keep the tunnel from collapsing around them, pokemon bursting from their pokeballs to help. Concretes and asphalts falling around them and they simply don’t have the maneuverability to dodge.

Each is trying to reach the other- to grab him and get the hell out of there hopefully but both end up getting nailed in the skull with a particularly large piece of ceiling, knocking them out.

Their pokemon are too focused on trying to keep them from getting crushed to really do much when the time rift until it opens proper. Ingo and a good portion of the tunnel is taken and the rift closes just as quickly.

Chandelure’s scream could be heard through out Nimbasa City.

The rest of the Subway workers- having been on the move as soon as the alarms went off, eventually find a badly injured Emmet and the two’s pokemon (a small legion of incredibly powerful, incredibly freaked out pokemon) trying to get him to wake up.

There’s no trace of his brother- despite weeks of digging and searching later.

Subway Boss Ingo is just, gone.

Alright why aren’t there any Ben 10 Danny Phantom crossovers where Skulker and Khyber meet up and end up trying to determine who REALLY is the greatest hunter.

And not in a “I hate you and I’m so much better at hunting than you” sense. More like “Oh I finally met someone who appreciates my craft as much as I do and is the closest person to my level of skill that I’ve met. Let’s make this fun” sort of sense.
