It all started innocently enough, with playful teasing and banter exchanged during family dinners and time spent in the hockey community. Initially, you were just friends; William saw you as nothing more than his good friend’s sister, and you were happy with that. So, you remained, trapped in a prison of your own creation, suffocating under the weight of a love that had turned toxic long ago. And then it happened. Like a bolt of lightning, as the words poured from your lips, fuelled by years of pent-up frustration and resentment, Marc silenced you with a swift, forceful slap across your cheek.

The sting was sharp, cutting through your skin like a hot iron. Your hand instinctively rose to cradle the tender flesh, the red mark a painful testament to the violence just inflicted upon you. Tears streamed down your cheeks unchecked, your eyes swollen and puffy as the reality of the situation began to sink in.

The room descended into silence, as the only sound was the distant hum of the city beyond. You stood frozen, unable to move as shock and fear gripped you in their icy hold. Your mind screamed at you to flee, to escape the danger lurking in his gaze, but your body remained rooted to the spot.

Then, you noticed it—the spark of something sinister igniting in his eyes, a predatory glint that sent a chill down your spine. And suddenly instinct took over, adrenaline flooding your veins as your heart raced in your chest. Without hesitation, you turned and ran.

The fight-or-flight response kicked in, and in that moment, flight was your only recourse. Your feet pounded against the pavement, carrying you forward with a speed you didn't know you possessed. You had to get away, to break free from the toxic and perilous situation that had ensnared you for too long.

And as you vanished into the night, seeking refuge from the tempest raging both inside and out, you knew there was only one place you could go: to William's.

You knew you must have looked a sight: eyes swollen and puffy, tears still tracing down one cheek, the other flushed red from Marc's blow. "It's... Marc," you managed to choke out, tears once again streaming down your cheeks. "He— he hurt me..."

Drawing back slightly, you locked eyes with his deep ocean blue gaze. "You make me happy, Willy... You always have," you exhaled softly. And with the floodgates open, you couldn't contain the emotions any longer. "You've always been there for me... and I can't put into words how much it's meant... you're my soulmate..."

William offered you a wider smile, his lips drawing closer to yours. "And you're mine..."

It was the moment you'd yearned for, and now, after an evening filled with thunder and heartache, the universe had healed the wounds and guided you to where you truly belonged: with William Nylander. Random Thoughts on the First 3 Episodes of Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies

This is a FUN show.

So far I’ve liked all the music. I didn’t think I was going to like the song about the country club but darn it if I wasn’t like this is a catchy song about how terrible you all are. 🤣

I’m loving the increase in diversity that’s going on in general in tv world (although I’d love to see more characters with disabilities in media, but we’re getting more than we used to with shows like Speechless and As We See It).

That said...I think there’s two ways to handle diversity successfully in historical fiction. 1) Go the Bridgerton route - mention it, but don’t make it a major theme. 2) Make it a major theme and handle it satisfactorily - either in a realistic way or in a way that gets resolved suitably.

In these first episodes, a major theme has been Jane and her family acclimating to Rydell and community. Her mom specifically has worries about it being found out that she’s Puerto Rican. I feel like this is very period typical and an accurate representation as frustrating as it is to watch someone who doesn’t feel free to accept and rejoice in their cultural heritage. I love that Jane wants to fight back against all that, but in the last episode - I was kind of disappointed how the whole thing got resolved. She sings a song in the diner and bada bing, bada boom her mom's suddenly OK with it all. Felt a bit quick and sloppy of a fix. But this show is about Jane and not her mom’s trauma. Overall, it’s not a big deal for me. I just was slightly irked by the sloppiness of the resolution.

Olivia - The most intriguing of the Pink Ladies so far for me. We’ve got a sliver of her backstory with the teacher, but outside of that we don’t know much about her yet. Plus I want to know was she in a full on relationship with this guy or did they kiss that once and got caught?

Nancy - Another character we need more info on. I like her general don’t give an F attitude, but I’d love to see more of her deeper thoughts and emotions. We’ve got a hint at that with how much she deeply cares about college and getting into fashion, but I’d like more.

Jane - This actress is my favorite singer on the show. Her “I Want More” song is my favorite song thus far. I know she’s the main character and that’s why we know more about her. But honestly she’s not all that interesting and I wish some of her screen time was given to the other girls.

Cynthia - She had a good storyline this episode. I felt it was a bit rushed, but I think drama is a great fit for this character and Principal McGee knew exactly what she was doing.

Hazel - She was introduced this episode and we got to know a little bit about her. I do feel for her and how homesick she is. I have and always will be here for the wallflower/shy girl trope.

Richie - Things are still kind of surface level with him, but right now he’s kind of a meh character for me. I like him well enough but the show’s writing hasn’t really developed him enough for me to care about him yet.

Buddy - Likely unpopular opinion here...I don’t hate him? At least not yet. I think he’s treated Jane terribly, but I see redemptive qualities in him. The fact he feels guilt, has some sense of self-reflection, and is uncomfortable with his choices shows me we could be in for a good character arc with him.

So that end scene, right? Totally seems to be foreshadowing a Hazel/Buddy romance. How would I feel if they went down that route? It depends on the chemistry of the couple. In fictional TV land, I can excuse a lot of misbehavior (even murder) if the couple is 🔥. Rio and Beth, anyone? That was a toxic dump of a relationship but watch me with my 👀 glued every week.

This show is very much love it or hate it. I think the people that are hating on it were hoping it would be an extension of the original Grease and while it gives nods to the original content - it’s its own entity.

Fucking love it. LOOOOOVE it. I personally tend to see them more on the side of like sexual chemistry rather than emotional chemistry (although I do think there are a lot of intense and intimate emotions involved, I just don't see them being in love, for lack of a better term).

But either way, there's just so much history between them, like they kickstarted the Chronicles and shook the undead world to it's core together, and I like to think that in hindsight they have a real respect and understanding for one another.

There's just endless dynamics for them to play with as well though because like!! Literally they spend ONE NIGHT together and then Louis fucks off, and they don't meet again until decades later when the world is fucking ending so I just asdgxcfvabeskjfhb I'm always SO SO CURIOUS about Louis's thoughts on Daniel's turning and what it was like for him to initially realize that Daniel was not only one of us, but also reckoning with the fact that Daniel would likely be part of his life for a long time to come, that his actions actually had consequences when he picked out that guy from the bar all those years ago. Meanwhile Daniel's been running around with Armand, who only sarcastically refers to "your friend Louis" when prodded on the subject like LMAO I'm always so so curious how Daniel's thoughts on Louis changed after spending time with a different vampire!!!

Anyway, we already know Daniel was down so bad for Louis during the interview, and I really don't think any of those feelings would go away even after he's brought into the blood. It's very easy to fall for Louis. But on the flip side of that, Louis has always found something alluring about Daniell as well, and I think once they're on more even ground I don't think it's difficult at all to imagine a world in which they share blood with one another whenever they're in the mood.

the biggest problem with Queen of Air and Darkness to me is that it really should have been two books. I really enjoy the grief exploration in that book in the wake of Livvy’s death felt cathartic to me on reread and I find Julian’s switch-off arc in relation to that fascinating. I enjoy Thule in terms of how it ties into the main arc with the blackthorns although I’m not crazy about the twp set ups from it. Basically there’s quite a bit in that book I do like but as a finale it’s rushed and disappointing. I also do think either Julian or Emma or both dying would have made the ending slay and I say this as someone who clearly looooves them both and Blackstairs (considering how much I love blackstairs as it is think I would be even more insane about it if we got full tragic potential realized).

Grace x Lucie is thee toxic yuri dynamic in tsc and I think ya’ll are cowards for not paying attention to it. Literally the only reason I would reread tlh is to write fic about them ChoI era because someone should.

on a related note Lucie Herondale reads as a lesbian to me, she says at one point she’s never been attracted to a boy other than Jesse who is kind of a phantom she can make into whatever she wants / project storybook romance tropes onto in a sense for most of the books and she reads as more attracted to Cordelia with the whole ‘Beautiful Cordelia’ fanfiction and like I said her most interesting dynamic with the most chemistry is her and Grace, so yeah I get comp het vibes personally I know that’s my subjective read.

I’m pretty neutral on Clary sometimes I really liked her sometimes I was frustrated by her but I do think this counts as unpopular since most either hate or love her. I do think she falls into the 2010s heroine who is written to have an overly romantically focused arc but all her interesting bits of characterization are about tangential platonic dynamics that the author doesn’t care to elaborate on much… but also this could be an ungenerous or overly generous assessment since it’s been years since I touched og tmi. I do side eye some people for giving Jace a lot of grace to be ‘complex’ and process his trauma and be dismissive of how much she goes through in the books ( I kind of hate Jace. without nuance)

I think I deserve one on one Tessa and Julian interactions in twp, not for any logical reason I just think I deserve it since they’re my two favorite tsc characters. And there’s a lot of fan service in recent tsc anyway… let me have this.

Kieran is overrated I don’t dislike him and enjoy him in the context of Kierarktina and as a foil to Julian, but I don’t fervently love him the way a lot of people do. (I also really disliked his fandom when the tda books were coming out so that might influence this).

I want Thule! Emma to come into play in twp … I’m very interested in the idea of her in the aftermath of Thule Julian and Sebastian’s deaths. I had an idea for a fic about her but didn’t write it partly because of laziness partly because I felt I’d have to go back to tmi to remember endarkened lore for that.

Grace Blackthorn discourse was kind of unserious… not because I don’t think people can have valid reasons to dislike her obviously those exist. What she did to James was sexual assault and of course fans who hate her for it are valid. But I COULD NOT with some of statements about her especially on twitter that were like ‘well if she was a Male Character ya’ll would never forgive her and she would never get a redemption arc she only does cause she’s a pretty white girl’ like GORL. GORL what universe are you living in what paranormal/fantasy media do you consume and engage in fandoms for if you think that a male character who does a nebulous magical consent violation is going to get Less grace (no pun intended) from the narrative and fandom than a female character and would NEVER get a redemption arc. What made you get into Fwllow Travelers?

So many reasons…

1. I’m a huge history nerd, and get weak over almost any period drama. But this is extra special because it’s such an important part of queer history that is hardly known and rarely discussed. To have that done in a major TV show of this caliber is amazing. Queer representation is everything.

2. The team behind it- Ron Nyswanner, Robbie Rogers to name a couple were the same people who wrote/produced My Policeman so I knew it was going to be thoughtfully done. To be honest, I think it’s even better than MP. It’s what MP should/could have been if it was turned into a series. Linus Roach is also in FT, so there’s quite a bit of overlap in the two projects. Not to mention the subject/timeframe. It’s kind of like one is a US version and the other a UK.

3. The style! Costumes, hair, makeup, music, set design... Love those vintage vibes. The cinematography is gorgeous.

4. The chemistry between Hawk and Tim is just captivating, impossible to turn away from and the entire story has moved me more than anything else I’ve ever seen. Episode 1 alone had me hooked. But the more I watch the more layers I discover and it’s truly fascinating the depths this show has when you start analyzing it.

5. If you’re a human with eyes then you probably don’t need me to tell you that Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey are easy to look at. Seeing them in fine tailored suits from the 50s makes it even easier. Yes, they also share some spicy screen time, which isn’t terrible either. But I don’t want to take away from the rest of the show to gush about sex scenes. I will say, though that it’s not just about the sex but that a queer show with extra spicy sex scenes like that is getting such a big platform and positive attention is a step in the right direction. I’ll tell you though, I’ll never look at a glass of milk the same way ever again. 🥛🔥

this is a great one because literally no one knows what the fuck they’re talking about half the time when they critique acting and it’s cause they don’t know shit about acting half the time

the thing about acting is that not everything that appears to be “bad acting” is actually bad acting. like sometimes it’s a specific character choice, sometimes it relates to plot points later, sometimes it’s a specific style that’s being used. sometimes you can’t truly determine if someone is a bad actor or not unless you’ve seen the whole story and also probably more of their work! because sometimes it’s a specific character thing! but also this works in reverse because sometimes you’ll watch an actor in something and think wow they did a great job here they really brought this character to life! but then you watch them in another role and they’re doing the same things with a different character and it’s like oh you were probably just really similar to that character/it worked for that character and it makes it really obvious you don’t know what you’re doing

also people don’t understand chemistry either because i’ve seen people critique actors for… lack of chemistry?? which is not something they can control like chemistry is something you either have or you don’t. and while there’s ways to work around it and make it work, it doesn’t make either actor bad for not having it with each other yknow

First question up is: what is their theme song?

The fan mentions that their theme song is Don't Stop Believin' by Journey, and Jared says that Separate Ways, which is also by Journey, is pretty badass then says he's gonna go with Faithfully also by that band because while he's not a musician he’s on the road a lot.

Jensen also goes with a road-themed song: On the Road Again by Willie Nelson. He says he’s been driving a lot the past couple weeks (not to nitpick but he was in Canada filming recently so timelines not a 100% accurate on his part) to see family because they're close enough it’s only like 4hrs from where he works and while driving back and forth he’s been playing a lot of Willie Nelson and that song has come up a couple times. He also mentions that he and Jared travel quite a bit and with the pandemic that wasn’t possible so it's made him realize that he truly enjoys being out on the road. 

Now for absolutely no reason whatsoever I'm gonna go ahead and point out that Jared has been in Santa Fe the past couple of days just a small drive away (around an 1hr) from Jensen. Jensen who has conveniently provided the information that he's been driving a lot. Y'all do with that info what you want 😇

Continuing on a fan who owns a bakery wants to know what is their favorite type of pie? Jared says pecan pie a la mode to which Jensen in total husband fashion says that what Jared actually likes is a little pecan pie with his ice cream 😆

Jensen answer is either banana or coconut cream pie...so of course Jared makes a joke about bananas and coconuts. x

The third question is not a question it’s a very stupid joke but the boys banter with the person is funny so I’ll include a timestamp. x

Jensen was still thinking about the previous fans question about pie so he asked them what the best pie they make is, the answer is pumpkin. Jared makes an inappropriate joke, I had to pause 🥧

*sigh* Y'all we’re never gonna be free from prank questions. The next question is what's the best prank they've pulled on set together. Y’all know the drill they never planned pranks they just saw the opportunity to mess with someone and would take it. They say the only pranks they had planned were some they wanted to pull on MC but didn't get a chance to. x

Can they tell the story of how they met? 🥰

I know y'all probably already know the story, and I have written about it before, so this will be the quick version. Long story short they meet during auditions on the network test. By that point, Jensen had read originally for Sam but he told tptb that he wanted to read for Dean, and Jared had read for Sam but they didn't think he was a good fit at first because they wanted someone smart so his manager had to call and let them know that he is smart so they gave him a second chance so anyways they both arrive to the chemistry match network test and they were the only ones there and they start talking and the rest is history.

While telling the story they also talk a bit about how the audition process has changed, and Jensen mentions how he would try to throw the competition off their game in the audition rooms which makes Jared go into a quick non sequitur about how when G was auditioning for Wildfire there was this girl, who he and Jensen worked with, who kept trying to make it seem like she already had the role in order to mess with the heads of the others. This story had no point and no end because Jared doesn't reveal who the actress was he just tells Jensen he'll tell him later. The one time the man says something mildly interesting about that woman and he leaves out the most important detail of the story. x

What was their funniest moment or longest outtake? Jared says he has a few regrets about his time on SPN 👀

But that his number one regret is that while they did a lot of things producers do they never got that official producer label. (baby, I regret y'all never got that label too but also spill the tea) If they had they would have kept all the gag reels and outtakes. Examples that come to his mind to answer the question are JDM getting hit in the balls when they filmed the 300th ep also Eye of the Tiger.

Jensen says he's been listening to some of the podcast thing that Benedict and Speight are doing and Taylor Cole, who played Sarah Blake, was in one of the eps and she mention how when they were filming Provenance something happened in one of the scenes and she couldn't stop giggling and Jared also couldn't stop laughing so they had to take a break because they couldn't reel it in. x

I don't know if this was the moment he was referring to but the way Jensen describes it reminds me of this moment from the s1 gag reel where Jared and Taylor are laughing and then there's jealous!Jensen in the background.

We have another non-question, a fan complimented Jensen’s cover of Simple Man that he did on Jason Mann’s cover album. Jensen tells the story of how his singing that song came about; so Jensen had agreed to be on the album but they hadn't chosen a song for him to sing so one day when Jason was in Van for something they were in Jensen's apartment and he asked him what he wanted to sing. Jensen was lightly strumming the guitar trying to come up with something and the song he was mindlessly strumming was Simple Man. Jason asked what he was playing and made Jensen sing the song and Jason liked it and said that's the song we're going with. x

On the off chance that some of you have not heard the acoustic cover, which is what's being mentioned here, that Jensen did of this song I'm gonna leave y'all a link because it's beautiful 🎸

Final question, is there a method to their acting that they’ve kept throughout the years? And a part that they’ve drastically changed?

Jared says his method has been the same since Gilmore Girls, he doesn't really memorize lines he just goes through the script over and over again until it's like a song that he can sing along with even if he doesn't know the name of it or the artist. He'll read it front to back at different times of the day whenever he gets the chance so when he gets to set it's so in his head that instinct takes over.

For Jensen, it's the opposite. He reads the script once very, very slowly. Some scenes he'll re-read a couple times till he has a good grasp of it and has a really good idea of how the scene should be played and then he'll move on and keep reading the script, once he gets through it he won't look at the whole thing again; he will look at the material for the next day the night before, read through it and remember how it impacted him the first time he read it, instinctually know the idea he thinks he wants to do for that scene but still not memorizing anything. Then the day off when they block it out and figure out when they wanna be that's when the words lock in because he is marrying them to his physical space. So when they go to shoot he knows the words.

He says the biggest advice he gives to young actors and actresses is that you always want to be emotionally available in a scene so if somebody's bringing something you hadn't thought of you want to be able to react to it properly.

Jared says he wouldn't recommend Jensen's method to young actors or actresses because it's very difficult to do but Jensen's a black belt in acting which is why he can do that- he admires Jensen so much 🥰

He also says that his pet peeve with scripts is when there's stage direction like 'sam cries' or 'dean breaks down' because there are times when they get there and in the moment it doesn't feel right. Says there are several scenes in SPN where the script doesn't mention them getting teared up but they would get teared up when filming, so he hates when emotions are written.

Jensen adds that that's the good stuff when there were things that would surprise them within the scene; the nuance of the scene and nuance of the relationship or the dialogue they would find it and that's something that he can't tell us how much he loves being a part of that with Jared. Because they would find it so quickly and so much that it would surprise them. 💕

I was sceptical at first cause I had a different Kaeya ship but my gf spent half of our relationship teaching me how to multiship NDNDN and she managed to teach me. So yeah I think kaebedo is adorable and the chemistry might be about right here! Kaeya is into him, just how he says that in the voice lines. They have Klee too, while Albedo treats her like a younger sister and Kaeya acts like her babysitter (sort of) - they definitely hang out together. Not to mention their curious Khaenri’ah roots!!!

Naw man these are just. Quality. It’s a rare ship cause Venti usually ends up with Xiao and it’s way more popular; zhongven is a curious ship. First of all, it’s awesome they both have Visions that act funny with other elements - and can’t work with each other! I think it makes curious chemistry. Their characters don’t match either shdhshw Venti is a lil shit (Archon of Freedom) while Zhongli is this tall serious dude (Archon of Contracts). Second, they’re two remaining archons that fought in Archon War if I remember correctly and I believe they would have an interesting history ^^

Thoma may be the housekeeper of Kamisato Estate but it’s so sweet Ayaka and Ayato treat him like part of their family 🥹 I love how thankful Ayato is, and how much he appreciates Thoma’s work around! He also claims that in his position he can’t really trust too many people but Thoma is one of them. And on the other side, Thoma is happy to look out for Ayato when he’s at home cause he feels like thats all he can do. They make me feel all fuzzy 🥹🥹

Mimi ch 53 was a rollercoaster ride like my mind can’t absorb what was happening. But first let me thank you for working so hard on this and every other one of your story and sharing this with us 🫶🏼🫶🏼 Anyway some of my thoughts…

1. Its good that jk told his family about what happened. Sometimes we do need time on our own to process and accept what happened and him feeling like it is okay to share the burden now, somehow feels like he is finally ready, really ready to let go and move forward with his life. 💝

2. Ohhh them finally doing it raw is like the sexiest smut I have ever read. The teasing, anticipation then finally going at it is like okay. Yn riding his face and her squirting omg she’s so hot like dude give her to meeee 🫠

3. Yn moving out and Jimin calling them out on their situationship.. I kinda feel like there’s something more out this and it will affect how the rest of the story will pan out which leads me to my next one

4. Jk inviting Ester and missing on the communication like he suddenly brought this up a few days before the trip itself. I dunno but when yn was still living with him from ch 46-52, they never really argued. They communicated the best and now that they did the deed, and yn out of his apartment, it kinda feels like jk doesn’t care anymore and he can do whatever he wants. That is just me though. Yn might have overreacted a bit, but jk calling her selfish and childish and saying ester is his friend too like her and yn are on the same level is.. uncalled for I guess. Can we just go and inhale the Busan air back?? 🥲

5. When they were in Busan, jk acted so clingy and so boyfriend to yn. Which makes me think like finally, things are looking up and these two might fall in love with eo. But after this chapter it seems to me that jk only ever sees her as a bestfriend and that all it is is just fun and casual sex with him as what they tell their friends that they are JUST hooking up- for him it might be what it is. I cant say the same for yn because it seems like she’s falling for him even if she’s not yet aware about it.

Anyway sorry for this long ask. I thoroughly enjoyed the story even its giving me a a bit of anxiety hahaha excited to see what Yoongs will bring to the table. If his and ester character will bring the positive - yn and jk realising they like eo more than friends. Or not so positive as in yn and jk starting a relationship with other people. Either way I just hope they don’t actually ruin their friendship. You did such a good job of portraying the characters like readers genuinely love them or hate them, that’s how great you are as a writer!! Also, you keeping us on our toes all the freakin time is genius! I swear I don’t know where the story is leading us for sure but we’re here for the sweet long ride 🫶🏼

🔥Avatar-only love interest that least deserves 'queer rep' label

Ugh, I can only pick one? The actual answer is every single one of them with the exceptions of Japanese Niles and Rhajat because they at least get variable scripts acknowledging that Corrin is pursuing same-sex relationships with them. I'm not really a fan of either those ships, but the bar is very low here.

I assume that the half or so of Engage's Pact Ring conversations that resolve non-romantically are also off the table, although they could be read into if one were so inclined. (I am not.)

In that case, let's go with Jeritza. He has zero same-sex support options of any sort in both games aside from the Avatars, and the "chemistry" of his Byleth supports consists of Jeritza using violent murder as a proxy for sex in a way that doesn't exactly read as metaphorical. This on top of his surprisingly conventional marriage ending with Constance in Houses make it quite easy to read him as straight but open to getting impaled on Byleth's literal sword even if he's male. In retrospect I wish I'd highlighted the Constance ending in my gay ranking video; it might have saved me a few negative comments.

🔥 Lupin III

Well, I'm going to get in trouble now.

"The Castle of Cagliostro" is both an entertaining movie and extremely influential, particularly in both accelerating the animation team that would go on to make Ghibli Studios and in the way it inspired many, many western studios. It is a valuable, important movie. It is also a terrible adaptation in the "Lupin the Third" franchise in that the main characters are anodyne and toothless in their interpretations.

Like, going as hard as the original manga is a bad idea, but you can understand my complaints about mastermind international criminals being too soft, right? Jigen and Goemon are dumped for most of the film (which, by the way, you've really gotta provide some set up for Goemon in a Western context.) Fujiko's just somebody that Lupin used to know. She has less chemistry with Lupin in that film than Ada Wong does with Leon S. Kennedy in "Resident Evil 4", and those two only knew each other for a day. It feels like Clarisse loves Lupin way more than Fujiko ever did. Frankly, more of the film is spent following Zenigata that any of Lupin's companions. If I did not know the creative team's background with the series itself, I would seriously wonder if they even had the mental/social deviance and chops to write about such source material. Totally makes "Sherlock Hound" more of a logical conclusion for this group than "Lupin the Third."

Dude, I saw "The Castle of Cagliostro" back when I was in college. I remember going to Wikipedia and seeing that there was an anime series behind it before summarily forgetting about it for, like 13 years. I would have never gotten into the fandom at large if I hadn't watched Part 5 with @jeannettegray. I was at least feeling braincells firing from Episode 1 of that. "Cagliostro" is more…well, generally sweet. A standard vanilla cake. Not the complex tartness you should get from a Lupin experience.

I'm not saying "Mystery of Mamo" is a sensical entry in the series, either. But, damned if I'm not more in that camp for how batshit it gets.

Also, shorter rant, but I feel very few people get how to write Goemon. Like, a general explanation would be a more self-aware Japanese Don Quixote, but that may be too reductive. Generally, the tell for me that the writing staff has no idea on what to do with him is writing him off as "training elsewhere" for a good portion of the series. I mean, he's not that hard to work with. To me, he occupies a similar mind space as writing a Vulcan or a Klingon. You might have some hard blocks in terms of what he won't do, but if you can make an appeal to his sense of culture or curiosity (or Roger Rabbit a joke in), you can get him to come around to an idea.
