mm more piss towel headcanons, more centered around peppino!
Noisette didn't escape the tower, but she did still live. To be accurate to Mc pig's type of humor, she survived without a scratch somehow. Noise couldn't have cared less about noisette not escaping, not that he doesn't care, but because he knows she wouldn't be hurt at all.
Peppino is actually named something like oiraw garlic or some shit, he had his name changed illegally bc he's wanted in Italy for pity theft and being the reason the leaning tower of pizza is leaning because he shoved noise into it really hard.
Peppino's also banned from the uk because he and sans undertale killed queen Elizabeth on accident when on a date. Don't ask.
Oh yeah sans and peppino used to be lovers, Anton broke up with peppino and sans got with him, they broke up after peppino learned he was sans' side chick (his true lover is that blonde twink)
Anton and peppino have broken up like 10 times btw, they have a very complicated relationship but they make it work for Amy now.
Not really centered around peppino but Vigilante is actually a really fucked up peppino clone. He isn't even completely a cheeslime. I say this because the entire reason he was made was because mcpig was tired of drawing peppino btw. pizzahead grew attached to him so he didn't kill him and gave him his own floor.
Peppino only forgave Vigilante and fake peppino. He tolerates noise and pepperman, he tolerates pepperman more though.
He forgave Vigilante because Vigilante actually makes attempts to make things equal, and the only reason he attacked him was because he was told he was a killer (he surprisingly hasn't killed anyone in the tower, though. They all were just knocked out in a comically violent way.)
He forgives fake peppino because that thing was just playing (except for the end part, it felt threatened then and felt it needed to defend itself) its basically the equivalent of a dog, it usually doesn't even interact with anyone unless it looks like peppino (it assumes they are another clone
He tolerates pepperman because he has indeed apologized and has become one of his only frequent customers. He tips well so peppino tolerates him, but doesn't necessarily forgive him
He tolerates noise at best. Noise apologized to him, yes, but it was very clearly forced. Noise still pulls the small prank on him, but he hasn't made them as bad as they were in his boss level. He's irritated by them but tries his best to not kill the guy.
Pizzahead will never be forgiven or tolerated for more than the first half of a special event (like a party)

An Enchanted Evening(Wintershock)
“I hear Pepper and Tony are throwing another Disney bash. You excited?”
Darcy looked up from her laptop as Clint stuck his head in her office to deliver the news. It never failed, if something interesting was happening, he’d be stopping by to discuss it. He was worse than her great aunts when it came to gossip, Darcy thought fondly.
“Yeah, but I’ll have to find a date. I don’t wanna be Giselle without a Robert, unless I can get Jane to go with me. She loves going as the evil queen.”
Clint looked confused.
“I thought you and Barnes were an item. I see you together all the time, looking all cozy.”
“Appearances can be deceiving, Clint,” Darcy sighed. “He doesn’t seem to want anything more than friendship right now. But he is pretty great at the whole friend thing.”
“If he did want more, would you go out with him?” Clint pressed, watching her searchingly.
“Totally,” Darcy admitted, knowing better than to lie to him. “But don’t you dare interfere and ruin this for me. I don’t want to push him away after how long it took me to get him to warm up to me.”
Bucky had been very skittish when he’d first arrived and Darcy tried the technique she’d used when befriending neighborhood feral cats: kept her distance while offering friendly greetings and looking as non-threatening as possible, left plentiful treats around, and cracked ridiculous jokes in his hearing in hopes of earning a smile. It had taken several months, but Darcy succeeded in Operation Befriend Bucky.
“Who are you and Laura going to go as?” Darcy inquired, trying to change the subject.
Clint grinned. “OutlawQueen, of course,” he supplied.
“Oooh. Going with the Once Upon A Time ship. It’s perfect,” Darcy admired. “Can’t wait to see it. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a lot of work to do if I’m going to be able to afford the dress I’ve got my eye on.”
“Just so long as you show up,” Clint relented. “See ya, Doc.”
With a wink, Hawkeye made himself scarce and Darcy returned to her work, trying not to picture Bucky dressed as a Disney prince.
Bucky had just finished an intense workout and was trash talking Steve in a way only a best friend could get away with when his long suffering friend decided to turn the tables on him.
“So I hear you’re the only one who hasn’t RSVP’d for the big disney ball,” Steve commented. “Thought you would be going with Darcy.”
“How many times do I have to tell you we’re just friends?” Bucky sighed.
Steve gave him a look of utter disbelief and sighed.
“Still in denial. But you do know you can accompany her as a friend, right?”
“And have to hear you lot gossiping even more? No thanks,” Bucky muttered, even as he really wished he had the guts to ask Darcy. Despite what he’d told Steve, Bucky was very interested in the new astrophysicist in a definite more-than-friends way, but so far, he hadn’t seen any signs that she shared this interest, so he’d stayed quiet rather than ruin one of the best friendships he’d made in his post-Hydra life.
Steve just smiled knowingly at him.
“If you change your mind, Darcy is going as Giselle from Enchanted. Nat told me yesterday. They’re going shopping for dresses tomorrow.”
“Never heard of her,” Bucky muttered, splitting off from Steve to take the stairs to his floor. The next evening, a Blu-ray of Enchanted had appeared on his coffee table. Bucky turned up his nose, but Natasha’s commanding note had him sighing and watching the movie anyway.
Despite the typical Disney cheesiness, Bucky found himself enjoying himself and actually laughing a few times at the antics of the ridiculously over the top Prince Edward. Robert seemed a more realistic hero for once and he found himself sympathizing with the man. Bucky was pretty sure there wasn’t going to be a happily ever after for himself, either.
After the movie ended, he sat and thought for a while, then called Natasha.
Darcy bought her dress, shoes, and jewelry, happily spending way more than she normally would thanks to her long hours and careful saving up for the day. The wine colored fit-and flare dress looked amazing on her and the skirt swirled in a very satisfying manner when she turned around.
“You’re going to be turning heads tonight,” Natasha commented as they hauled their purchases home. “Especially a certain someone.”
She wiggled her eyebrows and Darcy sighed.
“Whatever you say. I have no comment,” she said rather stiffly.
Natasha laughed.
“You say that now,” she said.
In the end, Darcy went by herself to the ball, having chickened out about asking Bucky, which she was already kicking herself for. Oh, well. At least she looked fabulous in her dress that looked just like the one Amy Adams wore for the dance.
She perked up a bit when she got to the fancy ballroom Tony had rented and met the rest of the Avengers in full costume. Sure enough, Clint and Laura were Robin Hood and Regina and looked amazing. Tony and Pepper were Captain Hook and Emma Swan.
“Aren’t you a little grey to be Captain Hook?” Darcy teased him. “But that’s a nice costume.”
“Hook’s a lot older than he looks,” Tony replied, waving his fake hook hand around.
Natasha and Steve were Ariel and Eric, which was an unexpected choice, but Nat looked great in her slinky, iridescent turquoise dress and Steve was a fabulous prince. Sharon and Sam were Rapunzel and Flynn Rider and Wanda was Princess Elsa, complete with a gorgeous icy blue dress and fabulous blonde wig. Thor strode around dressed like Hercules and Darcy hung out with him for a few minutes, exchanging small talk.
“Are you also unaccompanied, Darcy?” Thor asked.
“Yeah,” she admitted. “But I’m hanging out with friends and feeling fabulous, so I’ll be alright,” she assured him.
She completely forgot what she’d planned on saying next because Bucky Barnes arrived and was looking so gorgeous, she found she couldn’t breathe.
Bucky, feeling stiff and awkward in his fancy costume, was keeping his eyes peeled for Darcy, even as he greeted Steve, Nat, and Sam, all of whom seemed very surprised, but pleased to see him.
“She’s over by Thor,” Nat whispered helpfully and Bucky looked where she indicated and felt his heart skip several beats and his mouth go dry.
Darcy was looking incredibly gorgeous in a dress like the one from the movie, which was a simple design, but very flattering on her. She’d left her dark hair down and had simple silvery earrings that sparkled in the light from the massive overhead chandeliers.
In this moment, Bucky knew he was a goner. These were NOT platonic friendly reactions he was experiencing right now. Not at all. She locked eyes with him and her own widened, and she full on smiled at him, which propelled him towards her, now oblivious to everyone else in the room.
Darcy swallowed nervously as Bucky approached, looking stunning in an embroidered dark blue jacket clearly meant to replicate Robert’s costume from Enchanted. He’d pulled his hair back into a small ponytail and it only added to the appeal.
“Hi,” she said softly, giving him a smile.
“Hi,” he answered back, looking at her in a way that made her feel downright giddy.
“Wow. Darcy, you look beautiful,” he told her, sincerity oozing from his voice.
“Why thank you,” she replied, trying to resist the urge to fan herself. “You’re looking pretty fabulous yourself. I’d say what a happy coincidence we picked the same movie, but I know our meddling friends better than that.”
Bucky grinned at her.
“Yep. And I have to tell them they were right later.”
“Right about what?” Darcy asked, knowing what the answer was but wanting to hear him say it.
“That I’ve got it bad for you, doll. I didn’t think you felt the same way, so I’ve been trying to ignore it, but I don’t think that’s possible anymore.”
The way he was looking at her was giving Darcy tingles all over and she took a step close to him.
“We’re a couple of fail boats then, because I’ve been feeling the same way, and was also convinced I was stuck in the friend zone,” Darcy admitted. “All our friends could see it, but we sure were oblivious.”
“We were. As a trained spy, I should be embarrassed, but I’m just happy,” Bucky told her. “Wanna dance?”
“Gladly, handsome,” she told him. “I heard you’re very talented in that department.”
Bucky flushed a bit, but shrugged.
“People exaggerate, but I did enjoy it back in the day. Let’s hope I’m not too rusty.”
If Bucky was rusty, Darcy certainly couldn’t tell because she was enjoying herself too much. She’d never danced with a guy who could lead as well as he could and it was glorious. Looking into his blue eyes, she couldn’t help but flush at the expression in them and wondered if she looked equally smitten.
Bucky was thinking about how perfectly they fit together and how her eyes were downright sparkling. That look she was giving him was downright dangerous and he never wanted this moment to end.
They ended up dancing through three more songs before Darcy pulled him away from the party.
“Tired already?” He asked teasingly.
“Bucky Barnes, you’d better kiss me right now, or so help me, Thor…..” she threatened playfully, pointing her finger at him. She didn’t have to say it twice. Bucky had been wanting to kiss her for a long time and just like with the dancing, proved to be very skilled.
“That good enough for Ya?” He finally asked.
“It’s a great start,” she whispered as she caught her breath.
Across the room, their friends looked on in amusement and approval.
“Nice work,” Steve told his girlfriend, who was looking very pleased with herself. “I thought you’d have to lock them in a closet or something.”
“Don’t think that wasn’t on the table if they kept being oblivious or Barnes refused to show up tonight,” Natasha admitted. “And I used to think YOU were the stubborn one.”
Steve laughed.
“You’re my favorite Disney prince, Bucky Barnes,” Darcy told him as they swayed together to a slow song.
“Just don’t expect me to sing or talk to chipmunks,” he muttered playfully. “Gotta draw the line somewhere.”

Aizawa, We Agreed No More Cats: Chapter 9
11:50 AM
Existence Is A Prison
gay salt: Yaoyorozu is amazing.
ranch flavored jello: She can bench press me anytime.
gay salt: To be fair, you'd let any strong lesbian bench press you.
ranch flavored jello: You're not wrong but you don't have to say it.
life is a nightmare: She did really well, I'm glad she's advancing despite that Tsubasa guy cutting her up with his glass.
deku deck-you: I think that guy might be related to one of my old friends before UA.
foil-mecha: What happened that you aren't friends anymore
deku deck-you: Tsubasa Ryuu? He got kidnapped or something during a break and I never saw him again. My other two friends? They were fake. They ditched me after the Sludge Villain incident.
nat20: I'll kick their asses for you.
deku deck-you: I wouldn't stop you from burning Aldera Middle School to the ground. For Deku's sake, mostly, but also because I hated those teachers.
feral cat dad: What happened at Aldera Middle School?
deku deck-you: Well, you probably know from Deku by now that I wasn't always easy on him or even this easy to get along with. From the time Deku was misdiagnosed as quirkless, I bullied him. Let's be honest, my reasoning wasn't important because I made his life a living hell just because mine was a living hell at home.
deku deck-you: We talked about everything the day after I moved into the dorms, so don't worry, there's no hard feelings and we're working through all the shit I did to him.
deku deck-you: But, anyway, the teachers at Aldera tried to fail Deku constantly because of his 'quirklessness' but I'd vouch his grades for him once I realized they were trying to flunk him out of the school. And, after the Sludge Villain happened, they began doing the same thing to me because they thought I was influenced by a villain even though I'd told them so many times that I was basically a hostage.
feral cat dad: Looks like I'm opening a formal complaint against Aldera Middle School after the Sports Festival.
deku deck-you: Don't, me and Deku just want to leave Aldera behind us.
feral cat dad: Fine.
feral cat dad: Oh, they had a draw while we were texting. Jeez, that was fast.
deku deck-you: Don't you dare underestimate Kirishima.
ranch flavored jello: Someone has a crush.
deku deck-you: Don't you dare speak of this. I'll launch Deku at you.
ranch flavored jello: Jeez, fine. Feral Deku scares me.
deku deck-you: Good. I gotta go.
12:20 PM
Existence Is A Prison
farmer toshi: Wow, Kats. You did great.
deku deck-you: Can't talk right now. She's in pain and won't let go of me.
deku deck-you is now offline
feral cat dad: Fuck, she overstressed herself.
farmer toshi: I want so badly to check on her but I need to fight Tokoyami now.
1:15 PM
Existence Is A Prison
farmer toshi: Katsuki, you're coming back soon, right? I mean, your match is next after Todoroki and Yaoyorozu.
deku deck-you is online
deku deck-you: I'm back, who's won?
farmer toshi: Kirishima won against Tetsutetsu in their rematch, I won against Fumi, Midoriya won against Toru, Kiyo won against Shizuka, Kaminari just won against Fujioka.
deku deck-you: Okay, good.
ranch flavored jello: I'm down by the entrance to the field. What's wrong with Yaoyorozu?
ranch flavored jello has started a video chat
[Yaoyorozu is shown fumbling around a bit in the ring and Todoroki is in a fighting stance, but drops it when she's facing the wrong way]
Yaoyorozu, why are you stumbling? -Unknown
Shut up and fight me, Todoroki! -Unknown
Something's wrong with you, I won't compete if you're hurt. -Unknown
Just fight me! -Unknown
[Yaoyorozu is shown collapsing and Midnight goes to check on her.]
Yaoyorozu cannot compete due to a previous injury, this match goes to Todoroki! -Unknown
ranch flavored jello has ended the group chat
gay salt: Mon dieu. Is she alright?
ranch flavored jello: She's muttering about her eyes.
ranch flavored jello: Oh god, there's glass in her eyes.
feral cat dad: Get up here, Toru. Now, you don't have to see that.
ranch flavored jello: I won't leave her alone without anyone she knows. I won't. She can't see, Dad.
feral cat dad: Okay, keep her company. But please be aware, they're probably going to do surgery to try to save her vision.
ranch flavored jello: It must have happened when she made that smoke bomb and Tsubasa couldn't see her.
feral cat dad: They're already having Katsuki against Kirishima to ease the tension in the stadium. Clearly, Katsuki's winning already.
2:00 PM
Existence Is A Prison
feral cat dad: Yeah, Katsuki won. So did Shinsou against Midoriya, Kiyo won against Kaminari, and Katsuki won against Todoroki.
ranch flavored jello: At least there's some good news.
deku deck-you: What good news? Icyhot wouldn't fight me with his fire and we spent like ten minutes yelling about trauma before the fucker got blown back so hard when his fire hit my explosion that he's now got a concussion.
feral cat dad: I understand you're angry, but you didn't do anything wrong, Katsuki.
deku deck-you: I know, I just feel bad. Now two of the people I've fought today are out of commission temporarily and I feel responsible.
feral cat dad: I know, and I also know they'll both forgive you. You went off with Uraraka for almost a hour and you didn't mean to injure Todoroki.
2:20 PM
Existence Is A Prison
feral cat dad: I'm so proud of all three of you.
farmer toshi: Katsuki, you're helping put my shoulder into place as a punishment for pulling it out. Recovery Girl already said it was fine.
deku deck-you: A punishment I'll accept fully for doing it in the first place. After I'm done visiting Pink Cheeks again.
deku deck-you is now offline
feral cat dad: My chaotic sons.
ranch flavored jello: Alright, I'm back. Momo can't leave the hospital tonight and she's been instructed to have Recovery Girl heal her in two days.
feral cat dad: There's my daughter. It's a good thing you kids are off for two days after today because you need time to heal after all that.
feral cat dad: Nezu's already insisted Yaoyorozu stay in the dorms because he doesn't want her too far from campus and her parents live in Tokyo prefecture and he feels it's too far for an injures student to travel.
feral cat dad: Tokage is already getting spoken to by Nezu, so she'll likely be added to this chat soon enough. Toru, can you turn on Yaoyorozu's screen reader for her so I can add her to this chat.
ranch flavored jello: Done!
feral cat dad has added Yaoyorozu
Yaoyorozu: Hello everyone!
foil-mecha: Hi, Momo!
Yaoyorozu: Hello! I'm going to take a nap, the surgery was very taxing so I'm quite tired. I'll message you all later when I wake up.
ranch flavored jello: I'll stay with her, don't worry!
Yaoyorozu is now offline
feral cat dad: You haven't changed her username yet, Hitoshi.
farmer toshi: I figure she probably doesn't know our usernames yet so I'll do it later after we tell her ours.
deku deck-you is now online
deku deck-you: Nezu's with Uraraka so I can't visit her right now.
farmer toshi: Is she okay?
deku deck-you: I don't know if I'm allowed to say. Honestly, if it were me and someone told other people I didn't know well without me knowing, I'd call it an invasion of privacy.
feral cat dad: Nezu said Uraraka should be fine. There's no need to worry about her, Recovery Girl is nothing if not adamant on the care of her patients.
deku deck-you: Alright, I'm allowed in now that she's asking for me.
deku deck-you is now offline
life is a nightmare: I wonder how badly hurt she is to want Katsuki there for comfort.

minabeana Oh my gosh, that baby is so cute. I love him already.
winniepie He's so cute.
kiripima Aw, welcome to the world, little guy.
sparklegirl He's cute, Ocha, mon ami!
michipeachy 🥰🥰🥰
farmer toshi: Does Uraraka have a baby sibling?
foil-mecha: Last I heard she was an only sibling.
nat20: Maybe her mom had the baby today?
feral cat dad: Alright, Uraraka is good now, not that I need to tell you since Aoyama apparently stalks people's accounts on everything.
gay salt: Hey, she gave me her account name willingly! I have all the other girl's accounts.
feral cat dad: Anyway. Tokage's also done talking to Nezu. Here's the girls of the hour.
feral cat dad has added Uraraka and Tokage
Uraraka: Hi, guys.
gay salt: Ocha, are you okay?
Uraraka: Oh yeah, Nezu said me and my baby can stay at the dorms.
gay salt: Quoi? Your baby?
Uraraka: Yeah, didn't Katsuki or Aizawa tell you all? That's why I'm moving into the dorms. I went after my match in the Sports Festival with Katsuki and they had to end up doing an emergency C-Section because they weren't finding a heartbeat. Thankfully, my idiot daughter is fine, just chaotic.
gay salt: What's her name?
Uraraka: Uraraka Emiyo.
gay salt: I will spoil her.
foil-mecha: How cute is she?
Uraraka: katsukicryingholdingemiyo.jpg
foil-mecha: Truly a glorious child. I assure you, us 1a students will assist you in your raising of dear Emiyo as best we can.
ranch flavored jello: I'm not good with baby-babies but I'll try.
Yaoyorozu is now online
Yaoyorozu: I'll help as well, once I'm able to.
Uraraka: It's okay if you don't want to, Momo.
Yaoyorozu: I don't believe you were there for it but, in the second rounds, I had to forfeit the match to Todoroki because, in the first round, Tsubasa Yuudai accidentally got glass in my eyes. My win in the first round was a fluke and I was running only off instinct when I got him out of bounds but, since taking the glass out can't fix the amount of nerve damage, I'll likely be blind for the foreseeable future.
Uraraka: Oh gods, Momo, I'd come give you a hug but I can't move around much yet.
Yaoyorozu: It's fine, Uraraka. It was an accident after all, he didn't mean to do that but the smoke bomb I made obscured his vision.
life is a nightmare: If either of you need anything, just text us, someone will get it to you.
Yaoyorozu: Thank you, but I have Toru for now!
Uraraka: Thanks. I'm good, I've got a Katsuki.
nat20: You say that like you've roped him in or something.
Uraraka: Well he's been proclaiming that he's Emiyo's uncle for the whole thirty minutes she's been in this world.
schrodinger better run: To be fair, is he not her uncle by now?
Uraraka: He is. He's the first besides my parents and me to hold her. He's definitely her uncle.
pure: Has he even put her down yet?
Uraraka: katsukiasleepwithemmiyoinhisarms.jpg
Uraraka: No, he hasn't. My mom's about to pick her up though. She's worried she'll fall and I have to feed her and all so he'll be temporarily losing holding rights anyway since I have to make him leave to feed her.
gay salt: He's sleeping, Ocha. Plus, I thought you knew he was 💅
Uraraka: He's gay?
gay salt: No, he's trans, Ocha, us girls had a whole meeting on including our ftm classmates on girl days if they're comfortable with it and you forgot?
Uraraka: Oh yeah, in that case I'm whipping out the titty so my mom can show my how to feed a baby.
Uraraka is now offline
feral cat dad: You kids are going to give me a heart attack one day and I'll put all your names on my tombstone as a reason I died.

Shadamy Swordland | ch. 5 | Lead the Way!
It was still early and therefore dark on a cold February morning when a caped Shadow and a cloaked Amy silently prowled around the academy grounds. Crossing the main square once again to get to the outskirts of the district, a blanket of fresh snow softly crackled under their shoes. The snow covered the herringbone-laid brick on the streets and the lack of daylight gave the snow a blueish glow. It sure has something enchanting-, Amy though to herself.
Treading lightly in attempt to make as little noise as possible, Amy exhaled in her already cold hands. The warm vapor of her breath felt nice on them for a brief moment, but they quickly grew even colder than before. She always wore gloves, but the her usual ones were thin and she forgot to put on her winter gloves this morning. Even when she’d placed them on the table next to the door, that was.
Shadow wasn’t much affected  by the cold. He’d wrapped his scarf around her neck and provided her one of his sweaters as well before they’d hit the road. It wasn’t hard to captivate his scent like this and it reminded Amy of the time she had had a secret crush on her trainer. Before every training session she used to ‘accidentally’ put her coat over his on the coat rack. It provided her coat with his masculine scent and she would secretly dwell in it afterwards. Back in the days it’d felt bittersweet to her because he wasn’t interested in her and she believed of them to have neither future or potential together.
While walking in silence through the cold morning Amy wondered why they were walking in the first place. Now that she’d learnt about his special ‘chaos’ skills, he didn’t need to hide them any longer- from her that was. Shadow explained to her that using his special skills, like warping, cost a high amount of energy. With the gemstone Shadow liked to refer to as a ‘Chaos emerald’, believed to be far away from South Island, there already was little energy to begin with. The thought of wasting the precious energy for every little thing was to be unheard of to him and so they trothed onwards through the snow.
The pink hedgehog researched every bit of information available about the tale yesterday. With the help of her dear friend Miles she collected a remarkable amount of notes on the subject when she left the library. Amy felt inspired and was eager to start this adventure, especially when the actual hero of the story was involved right here, right now. Still, she felt a little uneasy because she felt like some of her notes were missing. A couple of lines got stuck in her head and she couldn’t remember whether they were something she read or written down. Her mind drifted off and she went through yesterday’s events one more time:
__________________________________________________________
“Plagues, Miles, loosen up!”
'Miles', which was Tails’ his actual name, handed his friend a paper towel to wipe her hands before diving into the historic tales together. According to Amy he took his duty of keeping the books in his library in the best condition possible way too serious. The fox had, uncharacteristic as it was, assertively told her: ‘my library, my rules’.
Amy did as she was asked and grasped a notebook from her bag. In a zealous way she penned down everything that seemed important for their search, making sure the lay-out of her notes looked like a summary for a test. She dug through the pile of books Tails had picked out for her. She chuckled when she saw the many small, coloured pieces of paper sticking out of their pages. She was lucky to have a friend like him, even when there actually was no test to prepare for.
Amy lost herself in the exciting facts she came to know. Tails busied himself with other things like speaking to visitors and organizing the books on the countless shelves. Aqueous sunlight shone through the tall, stained-glass windows, drawing long shadows every time someone passed by. The colours of the glass-paintings broke the light into more subtle beams. After an hour or so, Amy’s eyes grew tired from the pleasant warmth of the sun through the windows, slowing down her pace. She yawned and decided it was time for a break. Tails went out to the kitchen to make them some tea.
Amy wavered through the things she wrote down and contemplated about where to start searching for the gemstone. She fell back in her seat and fixed her gaze on the ceiling and was surprised to find wood-carved illustrations on some of the beams.
The guardians of the jewel are echidnas… she quietly muttered.
Amy walked up to a bookcase and started looking for the letter ‘E’ until she found an informative book about Echidnas. She grabbed the book rushed through its’ pages. A map of their planet, portrayed on the next page showed the various locations of well-known echidna populations throughout the planet. She read out loud:
“‘Echidnas can live anywhere from mountainous peaks to deserts… They are able to cope with extreme weather…’”
Suddenly the door was swung open and a blue tornado-like wind whirled through the library, swirling up loose pieces of paper to spread them all over the place. A thumping of footfalls on the wooden floor accompanied this outburst of chaos before coming to a stop and bumping into the table because ‘it’ reduced its’ speed too late. Amy’s quills were blown into her face and she hurried back to the table. Her notes fluttered around and a well-known blue hedgehog laid clumsily spread across the table; Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sonic was a student like her, training to become a knight within the high order of knights like Shadow. He was Blaze’s student, who was a close friend of hers. It was a shame the cat had so little time to hang out, Amy thought when thinking about her friend. Sonic and Amy got along fine, but didn’t talk that often.
“Whoops… Hi Amy!”
“My notes! Sonic… look at the mess you’ve made!”
She impatiently tapped her foot at him, her hands planted on her sides.
“What are you waiting for? Go help me gather them!”
He jumped up and hastily grasped some notes. Amy collected some as well and snatched the untidy pile of the now crinkled pages out of Sonic’s hands.

Amy swallowed. Either Sonic or Tails could have found her missing pages.
Well, can’t do much about it now, so I gotta let it go.
She shrugged the thought off and stepped forward into much more white than she expected and gasped when ice cold snow dripped into her boots.
“Right on time.”
Rouge waved at the two she could barely believe got together. Shadow’s breastplate reflected the fierce light from the now upcoming sun. Rouge squinted her eyes and covered them with her hands. She was clothed in a thick robe, matching gloves and boots and a purple, turtleneck-like scarf was wrapped around her neck.
“Tone it down, will ya? I’m already not too fond of being out in the sunlight.”
“Tough luck. Now, shall we?”
He pointed to the east from where they were standing, to an entrance of a cave. The females nodded and the three of them footed their way to the foot of the mountain. Leaving the countless fir trees and the snow behind when entering the cave, Rouge couldn’t be more pleased. The climate in the cave was damp and warm, noticeably less cold than the outside air, much to her satisfaction. Amy used an easy sacred art spell to light the torch they brought and she stepped forward to lead the way.
“I’m not complaining or anything, but why are we in this place?”
“The tale says that the stone is guarded by the designated echidna family. Echidnas like to dig.”
Rouge was already halfway through the breath she’d drawn to protest when she sensed something that cut off her opposition. Even though Amy’s starting point was built on a hasty conclusion, she might be right, Rouge thought to herself. Casting a spell under her breath, Rouge attempted to draw out chaos affected spores in the air. They showed her the amount of present chaos energy in her surroundings. Even when there were none to be found yet, Shadow caught on to the increasing activity of her sacred arts.
“Trust me. I’ve done plenty of research and I’ve got a real good feeling about this.”
“It’s a little too early to trust you already, hun.”
“For starters: don’t call me that.”
In the blink of an eye Amy drew her rapier and with a swift, yet threatening move she swung it towards Rouge, forcing her to a stop. The bat blinked before lowering her eyelids. Amy found it hard to name that expression. All she knew was she didn’t care for it. She felt mocked in a way. A grin spread across Shadow’s muzzle, a hint of that mocking expression Rouge had playing his eyes.
“You don’t wanna mess with her, Rouge. Especially when she’s angry.”
“Second: I don’t think you have much of a choice but to trust us.” Amy said.
“Geez! Fine, I’ll drop the nickname if you insist.”
“I do. By the way, I’ve been wondering: how’d you two meet?”
Amy hid her rapier in its’ sheathe again. Shadow and Rouge shared a glance, the flickering light of the torch casting a warm glow on their skin.
“Go ahead, tell her. I couldn’t care less.”
“Rouge used to be a member of the high order of knights. We worked together for a period of time. She was fired though because of a rather unfortunate incident.”
“Hmph! Coward! ‘Unfortunate incident’?! You don’t even dare to call me a thief, do ya?”
“Trust me, when it comes to being blunt, you’re outmatched, but unlike you I don’t enjoy putting someone on the spot and talk trash.”
“Anyway…!”- Rouge snorted, ignored Shadow and increased the volume in her voice. “I endeavoured  to steal some beautiful regal gems, got caught and have been an outcast ever since.”
“Why did you do that?” Amy asked her.
“I was pregnant and in need of money.”
“You had your loan, right? That should’ve been more than enough.” Shadow said in a crude way.
Without anyone being aware of it they had stopped walking. Rouge turned towards Shadow with crossed arms.
“You’re such an oblivious fool, Shadow! No knight in the high order can have kids while serving. They would’ve fired me either way. I was about to become a mother without a job and a roof above my head. Desperate times call for desperate measures! And on top of that: those jewels were absolutely gorgeous! It’s a shame I didn’t get my hands on them.”
Shadow’s ears fell back, gaze fixed on the ground by now. Even when she didn’t see his eyes, she read his shock from his posture.
“You … didn’t know?”
“Correct. The board clearly left out the pregnancy part when they explained your departure. How despicable.”
“That doesn’t surprise me at all. Let’s forget about it already.”
“That’s no way to treat a lady!” Amy hissed.
“I never even noticed you were pregnant at the time.”
“Again: not surprised. The Shadow I knew was never the least bit interested in women or anything even slightly related to romance, sex or intimacy. That sure changed.” Rouge shifted her eyes to Amy, who smiled an awkward smile.
“I told you before: don’t interfere.”
“I’m not. Just saying it as it is.”
“And what’s that?”
“You’re in a relationship, for crying out loud! Believe you me, I’ve never had an interest in you like that. Though I couldn’t help but wonder who on the planet could ever manage to break down those sky high walls you’ve put up over the years. I haven’t seen you in ages, Shadow. To see this cute pink hedgehog beside you… I’m just surprised you know…”
Amy was unsure whether this was a compliment or if Rouge was belittling her, which was sure to be a mistake. She locked eyes with her lover, who simply shrugged and told her Rouge wasn’t wrong about her being cute.
“I have to admit I’m impressed, Amy. You even got him to defile his oath and break the rules he’s so hang up on to follow.”
“Let’s drop the subject and just keep walking, okay?” Shadow sneered.
While continuing their search, Amy asked about Rouge’s kids. Rouge unravelled they were twins; a boy and a girl who were at the age of 4 now. The bat seemed fine with her questions and so Amy asked everything she liked to know and didn’t hold back. The pregnancy had surprised the now mother of two at the time. Somehow the guy who knocked her up wasn’t around anymore and it was just her and her two little troublemakers, as she called them.
Gradually the atmosphere between the trio got a friendly note to it. Rouge even teased Shadow, setting him on edge by saying he didn’t need to worry about the kids being his. With aggravated frown and deadpanned expression he stated it was an unnecessary thing to say. He could feel her eyes bore into the back of his head and pictured the kind of grimace that surely curled her lips.
They hit a bifurcation from where the tunnel divided into two separate corridors. Rouge drew out the chaos spores in the air to determine which way to go. They looked like a turquoise equivalent of fireflies. They swirled around in the air for a moment and then concentrated on the left corridor. It was the first time Amy witnessed a visible form of chaos energy and she was mesmerised by it.
A self-complacent smile curved the full lips of the bat-woman when she passed by Amy, her curved hips swaying as she did so. She lead the way while following the swarm-like chaos spores. With every step they made into the corridor its’ amount increased like a silent promise they were on the right track. The trio, now filled with curiosity and excitement, picked up the pace and Rouge peeked around the corner. She abruptly came to a stop and gave a muffled cry.
“A dead end?!”
Rouge cursed out loud, addressing the spores like they were a person who’d betrayed her. The three looked up to the bolt of energy whizzing above their heads. Shadow tapped at his cheek with his index finger, clearly brooding over the possibilities.
“Maybe not.”
Shadow stretched out his arms and absorbed the chaos energy from the spores to grasp the hands of the others next. At their touch a blue-greenish luminary flash gushed through them, increasing both their transparency and transcendence. He briefly informed them about his plan to jump through the ceiling, letting their chaos-affected bodily forms break the molecular structure of the rocks apart. The two women strongly disagreed with his plan. Feeling rather confident about this, he decided not to care about their opinions. He simply grabbed one of their arms and jumped up.
“This should work!”

Summary: Shadow, Amy and Rouge begin their search for the gemstone after Amy thoroughly prepares their adventure with the help of her dear friend Tails. While on the road, Rouge opens up about surprising events from her past. ______________________________ Pffft, this felt more like a puzzle than a story to me. Never have I dragged so many alineas up and down the page to fit everything into place. I also struggled with translations of figure of speach here. One of the downsides of writing in English for me... Even so, when I translated a small part of ch 1 into my native language, it felt both off and odd to me. Also: sorry about the lenght!   - Like always: share your thoughts if you will and send me a not for annoying typo's or grammar mishaps. Hi! We’ve never talked but I adore your blog and writing 🤗 I would love to see 38 from the prompt post maybe?
38. “Nothing about us is conventional”
- -
Stiles kissed Derek first.
He’d always thought that one day, after the man got his head out of his ass and realized Stiles was downright irresistible, Derek would be the one to initiate things. But then at the beginning of senior year, after a summer of Stiles spending every waking moment at the loft, Derek still hadn’t done anything.
So Stiles kissed him first. He thought he was allowed to do that.
And the thing was, Derek responded.
Stiles liked to believe that one day, he’d break down all of the Sourwolf’s walls. He knew he’d gotten even further this summer than he ever had before, but Derek was a fortress. Just when Stiles thought he’d broken down the man’s last level of grumpy-growly defense, he was faced with a whole other line of barriers.
One day, Stiles thought. One day, he’d get the man to fully trust him. But for now, he thought things were good enough.
Except, he forgot Derek was a hard-headed asshole.
“This,” Derek said, coffee in hand and a brown-haired woman standing at his side, “is Amy.”
Stiles blinked intelligently at her for a moment. Her cheeks were pink and she looked nervous, the barista’s apron wrapped around her waist. Stiles supposed it wasn’t ‘Amy’ who surprised him, but the fact that Derek knew anybody outside of his little loft hidey-hole.
Also, that the man was introducing them. Maybe he was proud of making a new friend?
Derek waited with a raised eyebrow and Stiles blinked out of his thoughts, pushing a half-hearted grin onto his face as he nodded, not quite sure where this was going. Derek confused him sometimes. “Okay.”
Some of Amy’s smile faded. Derek shot him a warning look.  “Stiles, this is that friend I was telling you about.”
‘Derek’ and ‘friend’ still took Stiles off guard. He supposed if he thought about it, Derek had mentioned meeting someone at the cafe a few weeks ago. He’d said something about how she was ‘nice’ and ‘funny’. Stiles was pretty sure he’d been complaining about his single woes from Sophomore year, then. He hadn’t really been listening to Derek or himself, to be honest.
Sometimes, Stiles just felt the need to talk.
“Oh,” Stiles said. Then a sudden panicked realization hit him like a truck. “Oh.”
Derek’s forced smile looked more murderous than usual. But before Stiles could make up an excuse to run, Amy was stepping forward, Derek was stepping back, and Stiles was left alone with no coffee and apparently a… a... wait, was Derek wingmanning him?
Stiles’s stomach did something entirely new and he was pretty sure he wasn’t okay with it.
Amy started to say something but Stiles’s mind had gone blank. Three days ago, he and Derek had been making out on the couch and now the man was trying to set him up? Or maybe… maybe… no, the kissing had not been a fever dream. Stiles had gone right home afterward and proceeded to have a panic attack followed by the literal eating of a giant tub of ice cream in celebration.
His dad had been giving him strange looks ever since.
“Stiles?”
Stiles snapped out of his thoughts, looking at Amy with round eyes. She held out a slip of paper with her number on it and he stared for a moment, before plastering another grin on his face and taking the paper from her hands.
“So you’ll pick me up at seven?”
“Seven?”
Amy’s smile flickered. “For dinner at that new Italian place I was just telling you about.”
“Oh,” Stiles said. “Um, oh, yeah. Italian! Love Italian. Yeah, I’ll be there. At seven. Because this is a date?”
Amy was looking a lot less impressed now than she was five minutes ago. Stiles thought that was usually how things went when he talked to girls, wingmanned or not. But she still nodded and then turned away, moving back behind the cafe counter.
Stiles just stood there for another few moments, staring at the slip of paper in his hands as his brain tried to catch up.
Derek had just wingmanned him. Derek Hale has just wingmanned him. Then left. And now Stiles was going on a date. Tonight.
“Oh my god,” Stiles said, shoving the number into his pocket.
That stubborn-headed Alpha bastard.
-
Stiles showed up at the loft a lot later that night with a suit jacket hanging off one shoulder, a tie half undone, and exhaustion under his eyes that he couldn’t even begin to explain.
Derek sat on the couch and tensed up the moment he spotted him in the doorway. Stiles held his gaze for a long moment before trudging over and dropping down at his side with a sigh. If possible, Derek tensed even more.
“Did you have a… good date?”
“Dude,” Stiles said, glancing over. “I think my wallet is crying.”
Derek’s brows furrowed. Stiles leaned heavily against his side, just wanting to burrow up and maybe sleep for the next day or two.
It wasn’t like anything had gone wrong, exactly. In fact, Stiles would say he’d been the proper gentleman. He’d shown up on time, he’d paid for dinner and dessert. They’d walked around town after and when Amy told him things ‘just weren’t like she’d expected’ Stiles nearly full on agreed. But he was a gentleman. So he’d just nodded, driven her home, and decided he was never letting Derek wingman him again.
Which really shouldn’t be a decision he had to make.
“I just want curly fries and sleep,” Stiles said. “But that restaurant was so expensive, I don’t think I can even afford curly fries right now.”
“So… it didn’t go well?”
Stiles glared at him. “I blame you for this.”
“What.”
“Dude!” Stiles said, drawing back a few inches. “What? What? When you said ‘let’s go get coffee’ this morning, I expected to be walking out with a nice hot mocha, not a date!”
Derek gave him a blank look. “I told you days ago this was happening.”
“Uh, when?”
“When I told you Amy was looking for someone and you said ‘oh yeah, I know that feeling’.”
“Because I do! I have! Not now, but—”
“Then I told you I could try and set something up and you gave me a funny look and said ‘yeah, Sourwolf, you do that’ and proceeded to walk out of the loft.”
Stiles blinked at him. For some reason, those words did sound familiar, but he wouldn’t go around saying something like that unless… “Dude, I was joking! Are you serious right now? I’m like, ninety percent sure we had just finished making out before that conversation!”
Derek stared. Then his face turned bright red, he frowned even harder, and proceeded not to say another word. Stiles shoved himself off the couch, throwing his hands up.
“Oh my god, Derek! Are you serious?”
“What.”
“Stop ‘what-ing’ me! Do you really think I go around kissing people and then letting them set me up with someone else? That’s a douchebag move. That’s a Jackson move!”
The man looked at him with a blank expression. Stiles scoffed and turned away, waving a hand over his shoulder.
“You know what, fine dude, whatever. I’m going to go beg spare change from my own father because I’m in desperate need of curly fries but I can’t even afford any right now. Please, feel free to make up a list of everyone else you think I should attempt dating. Clearly I need it.”
Derek didn’t answer. Stiles gave him one more look over his shoulder but the man just crossed his arms, arching one brow. Stomach twisting, Stiles stalked out of the loft and made sure to slam the door behind him.
He was tired earlier. Now he was downright pissed.
When he made it to his jeep, he didn’t drive for a long moment. Instead, he glared at nothing and tried to keep himself from stalking right back up to the loft. What the hell did Derek think they were? What the hell did he think Stiles had wanted in the first place?
He tried to replay the last few weeks over again in his head. The first time Stiles had kissed him; all nerves and a sudden rush of adrenaline. Then small kisses on the couch, or in the kitchen, or when Stiles came by the loft after school.
And Stiles… Stiles hadn’t known what exactly to call it.
They didn’t mention anything to the pack but Stiles thought that might just take time. And Derek didn’t really acknowledge anything was happening until Stiles was kissing him, but he thought maybe that was just another one of the man’s walls.
Sighing, Stiles dropped his forehead against the steering wheel. Was he the idiot here?
No, he couldn’t be. It was the hard-headed, grumpy growly, big bad Alpha werewolf who was most likely up angsting in the loft and—
A knock on his window startled Stiles out of his thoughts. He squawked, head snapping upward, and his elbow banged on the steering wheel, the alarm almost instantly going off. Derek jumped back and Stiles swore, quickly turning it off.
For a moment, they just stared at each other. Then, groaning, Stiles opened his door and pulled himself back into the night, crossing his arms against the faint chill.
“What, Derek?”
“You weren’t checking me off a list.”
Stiles stared at him for a long moment before finding words. Derek’s face turned bright red and the man dropped his gaze. “What?”
“You weren’t checking me off a list or experimenting with… another gender, or—”
“Dude, what the hell?”
Derek looked up, a ‘caught in headlights’ look in his eyes. Stiles swallowed hard, searching his face.
“That’s what you thought I was doing?”
“You’re a teenager, Stiles, it’s the expected and conventional behavior of—”
“Conventional,” Stiles said, cutting him off.
Derek nodded.
“Oh my god,” Stiles said, rubbing a hand over his face. To be honest, he really should have seen this coming. One of Derek’s biggest walls was ‘I’m not deserving of actual love’ but Stiles had been hoping he’d broken that one down already. Apparently not. “Derek, nothing about us is conventional.”
Derek just looked confused. Stiles sighed and stepped forward, tilting his chin upward.
“You’re a big bad grumpy Alpha werewolf. I’m the token human with a baseball bat who Isaac compares much too often to Little Red Riding Hood. We fight monsters every other week and attempt to live normal lives in between. Also, I’m eighteen now. I’m like, a couple years away from getting grey hairs.”
Derek rolled his eyes at that. Stiles grinned, reaching up to brush the pad of his thumb across the man’s lower lip.
“Also you’re like, really hot. I’ve been wanting you to kiss me since Sophomore year and if we’re being honest, I kissed you first with the hopes that we could keep doing that. For a long time. Like, a really long time. Like, maybe until we actually do have grey hairs and—”
Derek moved forward and cut him off, slightly chapped lips pressing against his own. Stiles startled for only a second before melting into the man’s touch, his hand moving to cup the back of Derek’s neck.
“You,” Derek said around his lips, breaths warm against his skin. “Stiles, I want you too.”
“Good, you big idiot, because I’ve been pining for two years now—”
Derek seemed to notice how effectively he could shut Stiles up by just kissing him. Because the man only growled at the back of his throat and pushed Stiles against the jeep, one hand catching a handful of his hair and tilting his head back a few inches before kissing him harder.
Stiles wasn’t really complaining.
And yeah, he thought Derek was kind of a big idiot. But to be fair, he could be too. And maybe it took two years, one chaotically pining summer, and an accidental wingmanning situation, but Stiles was pretty sure he’d broken down another wall tonight,
There were probably more.
Like, a lot more. Like enough to give him grey hairs even as a teenager more. But Stiles might be a little okay with that. One day, he thought, he’d get the man to fully trust him. One day, he’d break down all of Derek’s walls. But for now, things were good enough.
Derek was always enough.

“And well, Tom spilt all his beer over my lap and I almost killed him that night.” Harrison was making you laugh so hard that your belly was hurting from laughing. “And that’s why I never wear new clothes in clubs or pubs.”
“Did he really embarrass you like that in front of that girl?” You said between laughs.
“He did.” He laughed along before taking some more of his drink.
‘Well, this doesn’t look like old clothes.” You fixed his collar and your lips curved into a small smile.
“That’s because you’re always an exception.” He copied your smile before you pressed your lips together.
Harrison always made one night out with you every week. It’s a little thing that’s been going on since you first started going out seven months ago and a very sweet gesture that always made you feel loved and happy. He was the best part of your year and you thanked every day you had next to him because the boy was perfect. Tonight you were in a fancy and reserved pub in the middle of London, just the two of you, sitting on a booth by the window next to each other, talking very close, him drinking his lager pint and you drinking the fanciest margarita you had ever seen.
How you met was quite funny. It was a nice day in London, one of those rare days that the sun dared to show, making everyone’s mood much better. You were working in your bakery since early in the morning and the movement was normal, with fewer costumers after lunchtime. Your employees were all doing their jobs, so you had a little time to sit by the balcony, drink a cup of tea, read a book and relax a little under the soft songs of your selected playlist to match the environment. And he walked in. You still remembered that Harrison was glowing as bright as the sun that day.  For anyone else, he would have just looked like an ordinary London boy, with a white sweater, beige jacket and eyeglasses. But when it’s meant to be, it all falls into place, and to you, he was the prettiest boy you’ve ever seen.
Thank God there was no one around to take what he needed because you were just dying for the little angel that just walked into your bakery to speak to you so you could hear his voice. You closed your book as he approached and got his attention away from his phone. Before he could say something, he felt the loss of words when he looked at you looking up from your book, expression matching his. You both blushed instantly, but couldn’t tear your eyes away from each other.
“Good afternoon. What can get you?” You dared to speak up and he took some seconds to even remember what he was going to say.
“Hello.” He smiled and you smiled back before pulling a stray of hair behind your ear.
“Hello.” You replied and he ran his fingers through his hair.
“Uhm, sorry.” He cleaned his throat before recalling his words. “My friend said that you have the type of tea that can help you with stuff.”
“Yes.” You encouraged him to keep going with a reassuring smile.
“I was wondering if you have something for stress. I could use some tea to help me relax.” And then you noticed his tired eyes, he could certainly use some relaxing tea.
“I know exactly what you need.” You pointed your index finger at him before pulling away to prepare his tea. The boy sat on the stool by the balcony and watched you from behind. That day you were wearing the prettiest green dress with white dots all over it. Harrison didn’t know it back then, back that would turn out to be one of his favourite dresses you owned in the future. It didn’t take long until you came back with his tea and two chocolate chip cookies. “Here you go.”
“I didn’t order cookies.”
“I know. But you look like you need some sweetness in your life right now.”
“Well, thank you.” He pulled his wallet out of his pocket, but you stop him before he pulled anything out of it.
“Oh no. On the house.”
“I don’t want you to discount it from your salary.”
“I’m the owner.” You frowned with a grin and he chuckled.
“Of course you are.” He blushed even harder. “Thank you.”
“Well, enjoy your tea. I hope it can make you relax.” You nodded and started to walk away.
“Wait!” He spoke up in a rush and you looked back to him. “Why don’t you sit with me? I mean, it’s not like it’s anyone else here. And you’re also drinking tea.”
“I have to work, darling.” You smiled softly and he licked his lips.
“Ten minutes. Please.” His eyes pleaded for her to stay and she smiled before pulling her tea and her stool to sit in front of him.
“Okay.”
“I’m Harrison, by the way.” Oh, his name was just as pretty as his face.
“I’m (Y/N).” You smiled before taking some more of your tea.
“I like what you did to this place.” Harrison took a good look around the place. “It’s cosy and inviting.”
“Yeah, it was intentional. The designer helped me in that aspect.”
“And your cookies are really good.”
“Thank you. It’s my grandmother’s secret recipe.” You winked and you fell into silence, unmuted only by the sound of both of you taking your teas. “I hope this tea work. They usually do.”
“It’s delicious.”
“So, Harrison. Where do you work?”
“I’m an actor. Well, trying to be one. Just got out of an audition and it was a disaster.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. It’s okay. I’m just not that good, I guess.”
“Stop it! I bet you are good.”
“Sometimes I wish I could do something with my life. Like you did.” You nodded and rested one hand over his.
“We all have different dreams. Some of them are easier to achieve. Mine wasn’t so easy, I swear.”
“You’re very nice, (Y/N).” He smiled warmly and you smiled back.
“You’re nice too, Harrison.” You rubbed his hand with your thumb involuntarily. “But I can see in your face that you’re tired.”
“I’m very, very tired.” He chuckled and groaned before burying his face between his hands.
“You know, bakers are the new bartenders. You can talk to me if you want.”
“It’s just… I can’t get a role in any movie and I’m having some family issues. I don’t know if you ever had one, but it’s the worst.”
“Believe me, I had the worst of issues.” You chuckled and he frowned. Before you started to tell him your story, your front door was opened quickly and a kid came inside running.
“Mommy! Mommy! I made you a drawing!” The girl ran around the balcony and jumped on your arms. “Look, it’s you and me making cupcakes.”
“Hey, baby. It’s beautiful.” You glanced down to the drawing with a big smile on your face. You kissed her cheek before setting her on the floor. “Did Auntie Millie take good care of you?”
“Yes. But she didn’t bring me candy this time.” Harrison chuckled with a pretty smile on his face. “Who’s this pretty mister?” She asked looking at Harrison, which made you blush hard.
“I’m Harrison, it’s nice to meet you.” He stood his hand in the air and you gestured her to shake it just like you taught her.
“Hi Harrison, I’m Amelia.”
“Amelia, what a pretty name.” He smiled wider at her and the little girl blushed.
“Amy, why don’t you go upstairs to take a shower and wait for mommy?”
“Can we watch Little Mermaid again?” She asked excitedly.
“As soon as I can go up and be with you.” Amy didn’t even listen and just ran upstairs, leaving her mother behind. “Sorry about that.”
“It’s okay, she’s really sweet. I didn’t know you had a family of your own, you look so young.” Harrison was bummed out. The pretty girl must have a boyfriend or even a husband.
“Yeah, when I said that I knew that family issues are hard it’s because of this little girl. I got pregnant five years ago when I was 18, just graduated in High School and studying to be a baker. My parents didn’t take it so well and I haven’t talked to my father since.” Your eyes dared to spill some tears, but you held it back.
“I’m so sorry to hear that, darling.”
“It’s okay. I overcame all of this, used a part of the money my grandmother gave me to open this bakery and raise my girl. And she’s awesome.”
“I bet you and your husband are very proud of her.”
“I’m a single mom.” You blushed and his mouth fell agape. “Her dad was an old boyfriend that dumped me when he heard the news. Haven’t seen him ever since.” “I’m sorry.”
“You say you’re sorry too much.” You opened a little smile and it was his time to blush. “Well, that was very intimate. I’m sorry.”
“I don’t mind.” He finished his tea, too soon in your opinion, you could just spend the whole afternoon there talking to him. “My mom was a single mom at first, too. Until she met my stepdad. He’s a good guy, and he’s my dad. It doesn’t matter if we’re not blood-related.”
“Yeah, sometimes I wish that Amy had a dad, or a father figure to look up to. She’s surrounded by amazing women, but no men at all.”
“I’m sure you’ll find someone who’ll love you both just like my mom.”
“Maybe I already found him.” Your eyes met and you were both lost in your little world.
“Can I take you out to dinner sometime?” He asked out of nowhere, making you smile. “I get if you’re a very busy woman and that you can’t go out with me, or that you’re not interested, but-”
“I would love to.” You cut him and Harrison could swear that those were the most beautiful words that came out of your mouth. You opened your note pad resting over the balcony and wrote your number with a little heart next to it. “Call me so we can set a date.”
“I will.” He started to gather his things and you asked him to wait. You rushed to the kitchen and got him some sweet pastries and treats for later inside a paper bag. Harrison was waiting for her by the balcony and his heart melted when he saw her coming quickly with the bag in hands.
“This is for later. Hope this can make you feel better.” You said standing it in the air. Harrison took a step further and hugged you. At first, it was a little awkward, but you gave in to the huge, one of the most comfortable ones you ever had.
“You made my day, (Y/N). Thank you.” He whispered in your ear and you closed your eyes to savour the moment a little longer., holding him tighter and resting your head over his shoulder.
“And you made mine, Harrison.”
After that day, you started your little romance. Weekly dinners at Thursday nights, movie nights with Amy every month, small cute dates, him spending his whole day-off drinking tea in the bakery just to see you working. The last seven months were paradise to you, it was one of the bests of your entire life. After long years going on crappy dates with guys who dumped you as soon as they found out you had a daughter, you finally found someone who you truly liked and you were sure that cared about you and Amy.
Oh, and the little girl just loved Harrison. She would rush into his arms every time they met and give him cute drawings just like she gives you. He was so careful and attentive with her, paying attention to every word she said, making everything she wanted him to and even doing little mundane things like taking her to school and putting her to sleep. They grew closer just like you did to him, and that way you were happier than ever.
Seven months later and everything was perfect. You were on your weekly outing and Amy was staying home with a babysitter. Everything was so nice that you wanted to stay that way forever, sipping on your margarita in Harrison’s arms, while he pressed soft kisses on your temple. That was all until your phone rang and your babysitter’s name popped on the screen.
“Hello?”
“Miss (Y/L/N)?” The girl asked on the other side of the line.
“Yes, Mia. Is everything okay?”
“Amy woke up out of nowhere and she’s crying a lot right now. She said she wants her mommy.”
“Oh shit. Okay, I’m going home. Can you hold it together until I get there? I’m not far away.”
“I will, but please hurry.” You hung the phone and downed your margarita in one sip.
“What’s wrong with Amy?” He asked, concern written all over his eyes.
“She woke up suddenly and is crying a lot. She says she wants mommy.”
“You can go get a cab while I go pay.” Harrison said and you nodded without even thinking twice.
You rushed outside and it took a little while, but you got a cab close to when Harrison came back. He tried to calm you down by rubbing his hand on your arms, but it wasn’t helping so much, you were very worried about your little girl. You rushed to your front door on the side of the bakery and left Harrison to pay the cab. When you opened the door, you found a scared 19-year-old girl on your daughter’s bedroom door.
“I’m sorry, miss (Y/L/N). I swear I didn’t do anything.”
“It’s okay, darling. You can go now. Your money is over the counter in the living room.”
“Good night, miss (Y/L/N).”
“Good night, Mia.” Just as you watched the girl pick the money over the counter, Harrison entered the house with worry all over his face. You both entered the room where your little girl was under the covers sobbing. You and Harrison sat on each side of her bed and she came out of the covers.
“Hey, baby. What’s wrong?” The little girl hugged you tightly and started to cry harder.
“I had a bad dream mommy. It was so scary.”
“Shh, it’s okay darling. I’m here now, okay. Haz is here too. We’ll take care of you.” You pressed a kiss on top of her head and she held tightly onto you. Harrison hugged you both too and soon Amy calmed down. “Come on, let me put you to sleep.” You got her back to her pillow and cleaned the tears from his face.
“Daddy, can you read me a story?” She pouted and you were both shocked. She just called Harrison daddy. You quickly searching his eyes with an apologetic look and he smiled widely.
“Of course I can.” He sat next to her and Amy rested her head on his chest to see the book he opened to read for her. “Once upon a time…” Harrison calmly read the whole fairytale book while Amy paid attention to every word he was saying. You sat in a chair right next to her bed and watched them cuddled together and Amy getting more and more tired.
“Daddy, do you promise not to leave me when I go to sleep.” She asked him and he nodded.
“I’ll be right here, darling. You can sleep now, nothing’s gonna hurt you as long as I’m here.” He kissed her forehead and she lied on her stomach over him. He started to rub her back and lully her with old songs. It was the most beautiful thing you’d ever seen before. Soon Amy was asleep over him.
“I’m sorry that she called you daddy.” You said once she was deep into her sleep and he stopped singing to her.
“I don’t mind, you know. She’s very special to me, and I love her like a daughter.”
“I mean it. I waited so long for someone like you and I’m grateful for everything we have and everything we achieved. But I think I waited too long to tell you that Amy always will be a part of the equation of my relationships. And if you’re not serious about wanting her as a daughter, I can’t go on with you, even though I love you so much.”
“But I’m very serious about this. About you and me, about Amy. I’ll be able to give someone the ability to have a dad, someone that I love. And I know it’s been less than a year, but I would love to start a family with you two. Help you with the bakery, take care of Amy, maybe have kids of our own. I want all of that with you if you want it all too.”
“Of course I do! I love you, Haz.” You slowly sat next to him and pecked his lips.
“I love you too, darling.”
“I can’t wait to start our little family.”
“I can’t wait either.” He rubbed your cheeks and you kissed him again.
“Come on, let’s go to bed.” You pulled him, but he stiffened and glanced back to Amy sound asleep in her bed.
“Do you think we can take Amy to sleep with us? I promised her I wouldn’t leave her side.” He pouted and you softened to see him so worried and infatuated with her. You opened a wide and warm smile, nodding right after.
“I think we can all squeeze together to sleep.” Harrison slowly took Amy out of her bed so he could take her to your bedroom. He gently placed her in the middle and you two lied next to her, making a little sandwich. “So this is how it’s going to be from now on? Our little family just having these intimate moments.”
“God, I hope so. I can’t imagine a life better than this right now.” Harrison kissed Amy’s forehead and leaned to peck your lips before lying down to cuddle with his girls.
“Thank you for everything. I love you.” He smiled softly and tightened his grip on Amy.
“Thank you for giving me this. I love you more.”
“Good night, Haz.”
“Good night, darling.”

Hi! Are you still accepting amy Laurie fic prompts? If you are can you do 127. I'm tired of pretending?
I'm sorry this took me so long but anyways here it is, I've been terribly drained from inspiration but I managed to pull this out. Hope you like it! Also this is from the universe tolerate it where Amy married Fred and Jo married Laurie out of desperation!
Being married to Fred Vaughn has brought her wealth, security and a title, she should have every reason to be elated, her twelve year old self would be very proud, Amy consoled herself with the thought more often than not. She was surrounded by beautiful gowns and perfectly trimmed silk ribbons and surrounded by beautiful balls and perfect dinners and a handsome husband who so clearly loved her.
Her life was perfect, but Laurie was right, too much perfection becomes dull and boring too soon but she suck up to it and plastered her best smile when Fred carried her to his fuzzy English state. Sometimes she even believed she was happy, when Fred tried and succeeded to make her laugh, or when he complimented her art or her dress. Though those are superficial compliments, where Laurie would have complimented her cunning eye for capturing a landscape just right. For capturing an emotion just right.
She was surprised to say the least, when Fred mentioned visiting her family in Concord, it's been almost over a year since they married and moved to London. Who would have thought that all she dreamed as a girl could make her so unhappy? The thought was bitter but familiar, she was already used to it.
“That would be lovely, Fred,” Amy said trying to hide her smile and her fear and all the emotions bottling up inside her.
The Laurences offered a room in Plumfield for them, for the time of their visit which would be shortly of one month, she would love to move there and help Meg with her children now that John was gone, but she thought it was fine with helping her financially. She knew it was not fine, at least not emotionally. At least things were how they were supposed to be, weren't they? Jo and Laurie married, she and some fine European gallant they always expected her to find. She couldn't wait to go home, where there wouldn't be any nagging eyes pressuring for answers as to why she wasn't pregnant yet. She didn't knew either, maybe from lack of trying, she had maneuvered the ability of sucking Fred's cock for when he was hard and insistent against her, he never bothered to ask for more when she was finished and swallowed his fluids.
Her family received her with open arms, the first stop was Meg's house where she gave the twins gifts and sweets she brought from London, Meg almost cried when she saw her youngest sister and Amy could only hold on for dear life at her sister. Orchard House was just the same, the same old, small house but still filled her with the dreary feeling of regret, Marmee's face filled with compassion and somewhat small disappointment, Amy did not care anymore, she'd been use to it since she was young. Her father looked older, too, his eyes had more wrinkles. Jo was never one for holding big dinners or parties or balls, Meg had offered herself to organize some kind of gathering in Plumfield for her and Fred, Amy was glad at least to have all her family gathered. Her heart plummeted when she saw Laurie's mop of hair but she ignored it.
“Jo! Jo!” Amy yelled, her heart filling itself with long forgotten fondness and love for the sister she most fought with, Jo looked away from her garden and pulled herself upright, laughing and greeting her with the most beautiful smile Amy's ever seen in her face before Amy pulled her in a hug, she never thought seen Jo would get her in such a good mood since she, after all, married Laurie, she could see Fred engaging himself in an amiable conversation with Laurie.
“Laurie,” Amy said and he smiled at her, they were, after all, siblings weren't they? He pulled her in a hug and she allowed herself to bury her face in his collarbone for a minute before pulling back. He smelled of wood and clean laundry and it made her heart ache.
She didn't slept that first night, the memories that haunt her were too much to bear, the place was too familiar and she wondered if Laurie ever thought of her there, this place that used to be hers and Laurie's, once in a long time ago was now Jo's and Laurie's. She woke up in the middle of the night wrapped in Fred's big, strong arms, he was too warm for her to bear so she stood up and stretched silently walking downstairs to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. Her eyes filled with some tears when she remembered herself and Laurie eating strawberries in there, alone and laughing, him doing his best to be a distraction for her.
She started to wander through the big, old house, biting the inside of her cheek to keep from groaning at the changes her sister had done. It was a school now, so it was a very possibility that it would change, the change was unwelcome in Amy's eyes. She only hoped for the drawing room to be the same, where she would draw Laurie and he would play the piano for her, she missed him, so much it ached her ribs, they never talked about what had happened between them. His half heartedly confession to her that dreary afternoon, that one day she didn't followed his confession out of anger, that one day he married Jo. She didn't wanted to talk to him but, almost as if she manifested him, he was there as soon as she walked in
“Amy,” Laurie said in surprise as she stepped in the drawing room, she opened her lips for a minute and swallowed when his mind caught up on what she was wearing, which was a red silk robe on top of her nightgown.
“My apologies, I thought it was empty in here,” Amy said wrapping her arms around herself and he nodded “I'll just go,” She nodded and started to back away.
“No, stay, I don't mind,” Laurie said but he hadn't looked up from the piano, she sat down in the couch there and stared at him, those same dark eyes that used to admire her in Paris, when she was the only thing that kept his attention. She longed for those days, where she slung her arm across Laurie's crook of his elbow and walked around Paris like it was theirs, and it was, where he used to read to her and she would sketch him, where they would gossip at balls.
“I-We have missed you Amy, the town isn't the same without the frolicsome sister,” Laurie said cutting the silence, she looked up at him, her hands fidgeting with her robe.
“A lot of things aren't the same,”Amy answered softly and he finally looked up from the piano keys, she's never seen him look older.
“You're right, it feels as though it was centuries ago that I visited you here everyday,” Amy nodded and fixed her gaze on the floor
“Where's Jo?” Amy asked instead and looked up when he didn't answered, he shrugged and she nodded lifting her eyebrows “I've missed you too,” Amy allowed herself to say and he looked at the floor. He looked like he was swallowing words.
“You have everything you always hoped for, don't you?” Laurie asked finally and she sighed heavily.
“I suppose so, and so do you,” Amy said because it was true, it was never the plan to marry the other, it had been a change she had never allowed herself to hope, a universe where Laurie loved and desired and wanted her. When it happened she was wholly unprepared and messed everything up. How weird everything was, having everything you always wanted only to realize you didn't wanted it anymore.
“I suppose,” Laurie murmured and stood up from his seat in front of the piano, she knew this was wrong, so wrong, but she couldn't bring herself to care. She wanted to be selfish, just like Jo always described her as. He sat down next to her in the couch though in the other corner, far away from her. It felt like a whole ocean was between them, she thought it might have been better not coming at all, being so close to Laurie was making her blood sing, she wanted to scream and kiss him, slap him and make him bury himself inside of her. She would never, though, nor Jo nor Fred deserved such thing.
She knew things weren't ideal with himself and Jo, Meg had written about it to her.
'𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵, 𝘈𝘮𝘺, 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱'
'𝘓𝘢𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘣, 𝘐'𝘮 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘮'
“How is... how is London?” Laurie asked “I've talked to Jo about visiting you, but it's a little hectic around here,” Laurie said fixing his gaze on her face. 𝘈𝘸𝘧𝘶𝘭, she wanted to say but occupied herself explaining her new, big house, detailing the balls she went to and how she did brought those sweets he had written to her. His eyes looked at her attentively, and she tried to ignore it. “It's good talking to you again Laurie,” Amy concluded and he nodded looking at the floor, the air was too uncomfortable and tense.
“Do you think, you could like, stay here longer?” Laurie asked with hope and she smiled brushing a strand of his hair off his forehead and shook her head
“Fred has to go back to work,” Amy said although she did wanted to stay.
“𝘐'𝘮 𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨, Amy, I'm so tired you wouldn't understand,” Laurie said closing his eyes harshly, it took her unprepared once again. She thought they've both put it behind them.
“I never thought you were doing a fine job either anyways,” She teased and he gave her a tight smile at last, reaching to hold her hand, it made a spike run through her spine.
“We were never the best at those plays, were we?”
“No,” Amy said with a small laugh, he smiled back and it looked more sincere than all of his smiles and before she could stop him, stop it. His lips found hers, she didn't pulled back but didn't deepened it for a minute, her heart fluttered in her chest and he kissed her so slowly it made her head cloud with fog and it made her want to sob. Her hand fisted in his hair and kissed back, desperately, she resisted the urged to put herself in his lap and moaned when his lips drifted to her neck “We can't, we can't Laurie,” He ignored her and kissed the spot behind her ear and his fingers traced her breasts, she arched herself into his touch and clamped her thighs together to reign in her desire, she never knew it could be like that. He pulled back from her and she stared at his flushed cheeks, his toussled hair, his red lips.
“I'm sorry,” He whispered and she nodded pulling back completely and biting her lip to keep herself from sobbing, she leaned her head in his shoulder and felt him press a kiss to her forehead.
“I'm sorry Laurie, I'm sorry for marrying Fred,” Amy whispered at least and his arm wrapped her shoulders.
“It's fine,” Laurie said at last and she sighed when he pulled back. He reached inside the pocket of his nightgown. A ring.
“It was my grandmother's,“ Laurie said, a beat “Jo... never wanted it, she said it's too much for her,” Amy's eyes prickled with tears, she took the ring from his fingers and ached to slid it in her finger.
“It's lovely,” Amy murmured with a lump in her throat as she examinated it, she tried to return it but he shook his head.
“I know you can't wear it, but I though, maybe for... someday,” He murmured making her look up from the ring.
“Thanks Laurie,” She chose to put it in the pocket of her nightdress instead “Maybe, someday,” He nodded and smiled sadly, his eyes expressing sadness, hope, tiredness. He closed them for a second and instead of saying anything else, she bent down and pressed another kiss to his lips which he accepted heartily.
She clings to the promise like a lifetime, and she knows Laurie does too, they found each other once, they'll do it again.

HENDERY’S FAMILY
a/n: i honestly can’t believe that i’m almost done with the first part of the series! thank you for sticking with me and i hope you continue to as i still have a ton of ideas for more scenarios and all that good jazz!
here’s where you can find all things nct as dads related! go and check it out!
Tumblr media
WONG KUNHENG
he has 3 kids, 2 girls and 1 boy. his son is the middle child. wong xiuying is his oldest daughter, 3 years later, his son wong mochou was born and 3 years after that, his youngest daughter wong zhangjing was born.
WONG XIUYING: >> as a baby <<
i know i have probably said this about ever baby girl
but she’s a princess
i definitely feel like hendery would be an amazing girl dad
like he has a lot of sisters
so i feel like he really understands girls well
and he would show that with his daughter
i def feel like no matter how prepared he thinks he is as dad, he manages to mess up but make everything so funny
like the first time he changed her diaper?
he made you laugh so hard, post labor you had to change your pants (that seems like a tmi pero giRLS CHILD LABOR IS NOT PRETTY AND IT’S DEF NOT OVER AFTER THE BABY. YOU DEAL WITH STUFF FOR MONTHS AFTER)
and that was gross talk with amy time™ lol
anyway
out of all of the babies, xiuying is the giggliest
like i feel like even when she cries, she’ll giggle
for some reason, when she just looks at her dad, she just starts laughing lol
and like even when she cries, if she sees hendery, she’ll just laugh
i feel like hendery is one of the best uncles
like all of the kids love him
and its the same especially when it came to his daughter
there honestly would not be a day without laughter
like xiuying would manage to make you laugh
hendery would manage to make you laugh
your household is just full of giggles even before xiuying could properly talk
pero, back to the princess thing
like she was such a gorgeous baby
she inherited hendery’s HUGE eyes
and whenever she giggled and smiled
oh man
like she was just so beautiful
like she’s just naturally so pretty
she has the prettiest smile too
like there was just so much happy and joy in your life because she was there
hendery would just be so happy around her
like he could be super duper tired from tour or from practice
like really exhausted
but the second he sees xiuying
oh man
his energy is instantly restored
just knowing his happy daughter is there, all of his energy is back
hendery is there for everything tho
like he’ll stay by her even when she’s crying like there’s no tomorrow
regardless of how exhausted he is, he’ll do everything for his little girl
>> as a child <<
she’s still so pretty
like she’s in so many dramas and commercials and ads and everything lmao
she’s so iconic tho
like she’s so funny
she inherited hendery’s funny bone
tbh all of the kids did
pero yeah
everyone always think she’s like a docile little thing
buT LMAO SHE’LL SHOW THEM REAL QUICK
WHAT AN AMAZING SENSE OF HUMOR THAT SHE HAS
SHE’S REALLY SO FUNNY THO
like she really is
she’s so witty
and her reactions are the best
even tho she’s in dramas and such, she laughs really easily
they really do get frustrated with her doe
but she makes it up bc the end product is really really good
she’s straight up a crackhead tho lbr
she can out hendery the man himself
like maybe a younger hendery could keep up with her
but as hendery gets older and he has more than just xiuying
poor thing is starting to get pooped lol
she’s best friends with xiaojun’s oldest son, xiao zhangwei
like zhangwei loves to sing and won’t stop singing
and she can just keep up with him
like he’ll just be singing ever song he knows
and she’ll be in the back with a tambourine lol
she just vibes so well with zhangwei
but whenever they’re together, it’s so chaotic
it takes at least 4 people to watch just the two of them bc they’re just so chaotic lmao
her biggest flaw really is the fact that she can’t really control her energy
like she doesn’t know when to calm it down
it’s all okay tho
she’ll eventually learn dw
but yeah
tbh she’s such a funny older sister
she wouldn’t do anything super dangerous with her little siblings
but like she’ll just say the weirdest and funniest things
like she’ll scream at the top of her lungs
“MOCHOU POOPED HIMSELF MOM!!! IT STINKS!!!”
like she’ll scream scream that lol
she takes compliments well
whenever she gets complimented she just says “THANK YOU!! YOU’RE ALSO PRETTY!”
she’s a charming little ball of craziness
>> as a teen/adult <<
honestly
she kept her crackhead personality
but she can get really serious when needed
like when it comes to her career and her family and such
she’s super serious
but in other situations
she’s honestly the funniest
xiuying becomes a really good older sister
like if her younger siblings are getting out of check
she’s really good at keeping them in line
xiuying is def not scary
but like her siblings just naturally listen to her
she becomes a model/comedian/tv personality
like jaehyun’s son, jung leon, she’s just so beautiful and so funny lol
she honestly could care less abt like being super “feminine” and stuff to maintain her model image yknow?
like tbh
she probably tried to reserved and calm and such
but her personality just is too powerful lmao
she would slip a lot
her manager would scold her and stuff whenever she did slip up
and it got to the point where her manager just gave up lmao
they just let her do as she pleased and she skyrocketed in personality after that
but yeah, tbh, she really does take her career seriously
like super duper seriously
xiuying wants to live an honest life tbh
like she takes her career seriously, but when her manager told her to maintain a pristine image, she didn’t sit well with it
bc the image they wanted her to maintain is simply not her
she talked to her manager abt it and they understood and let her do as she pleases
and it really did help everyone in the end
she’s still zhangwei’s best friend
zhangwei joins a band and he’s the lead singer
xiuying knows zhangwei better than anyone tbh
they def don’t get together tho
like they’re the best example of platonic, heterosexual, best friends
to be 100% honest
xiuying has a huge thing for the drummer of his band lmao
ofc she goes to zhangwei’s concerts to support him
but her true reason to go is to see the drummer lol
everyone gets along so well with her
like literally no one seems to have anything bad abt her
if they do and they talk abt it, she’ll just agree lmao
like someone will say “your nose is too big.”
and she’s like “yeah, my nose is pretty big. it’s okay, it allows me to smell yummy food easier and better then.”
or like
“your eyes resemble the eyes of donkey from shrek”
and she’ll be like “omG REALLY? HE’S MY FAVORITE CHARACTER THANK YOU SM”
she takes hate the best out of all of the kids
like if someone is struggling bc they get some hate comments, she swoops in and pats them on the back and is like “dw. xiuying is here. let me teach you how to deal with the haters.”
but yeah, she’s really goofy and so gorgeous and just a well loved person :,)
WONG MOCHOU: >> as a baby <<
he’s also so pretty as a baby
he also inherited hendery’s big eyes
pero
his eyes are lowkey kinda creepy
like it was endearing with xiuying bc she smiled a lot
but mochou is super duper serious lmao
like he loves to stare
and it was lowkey kinda creepy
but overtime, when he smiled more, it became endearing lol
for sure, hendery and xiuying’s reactions were the best lol
like hendery and xiuying would be playing with mochou, trying to get him to smile
and mochou is just :|
he’s not mad
he’s actually quite happy
it’s just he wasn’t really the smiliest baby
xiuying and hendery would just have the funnies reaction
mochou is quite a looker tho
even tho his eyes creeped all of you out
from an early age it was very clear that mochou would be a talker
he was babbing from the second he knew he could makes noises
and hendery would hold out entire conversations with him
for example
mochou: aaaabbaaaa taaa maaaa
hendery: you know, that’s an interesting point, i’ve never thought about it like that before
mochou: daaaaaa aahhhpoooo
hendery: no, it’s definitely crazy, i totally agree. so tell me, what are your opinions on the current state of our economy?
mouchou: baaa
hendery: good insight, my son.
mochou loved to imitate you guys while you talked
like if you said “i love you!”
he would babble a reply that is really similar
even tho xiuying would play with mochou a lot
mochou was really good at playing on his own
xiuying loves to just explain everything to him
like every little detail about everything
she’ll bring him the most random things and just explain everything she knows about it
mochou was most definitely cared for by xiuying
he was just a sweetheart who creeped you out from time to time
>> as a child <<
omg
he had the biggest imagination
and he let the world know it
like he was such a creative kid
mochou would make a new world whenever he played
like if mochou and xiuying were playing together
mochou would create an entire new world and xiuying would just be so excited the entire time
like
xiuying: “sO YOU’RE TELLING ME THAT THE HOUSE IS A SPACE SHIP???”
mochou: “YES!!! CMON, IF YOU GO TO THE WINDOW YOU’LL SEE A TON OF DIFFERENT PLANETS!!!
xiuying: “OHHH MY GOSH THIS IS SO EXCITING!!”
all of the kids love to play with him because his imagination is just so crazy
he’s still a huge talker
mochou is amazing at carrying conversations
like he’s is a pretty social bee and loves to talk to everyone
he loves to tell everyone everything
mochou belongs to the 127 squad
meaning he’s best friends with jaehyun’s son, jung leon, jungwoo’s second daughter, kim jieun, and haechan’s second daughter, lee haeun
when the 4 of them are together
you need at least 10 people watching them
by themselves? they have a ton of energy
all together? oh no
when he does get tired, he loves to draw
mochou is naturally talented at drawing
in all forms that require creativity, mochou is naturally talented in all of it
he was naturally really good at singing
he was naturally really good at learning instruments
he was naturally really good at painting, sketching, drawing, doodling
he was naturally really good at writing
mochou has a lot in his brain and the best way he could get it out was through drawing and painting
even tho as a baby, he was kinda stoic and such, he made of for it as a child
he became just a smilie as xiuying
xiuying and mochou have the sweetest relationship
xiuying likes to scold mochou even if he’s not doing anything wrong
mochou just smiles and listens to his sister.
even his younger sister liked to torment him a bit
but tbh, he would just take it
he loves his sisters to death
he would let them play with him as they’d like, he was honestly just chill  about it
hendery would sometimes take mochou on “man” dates
but tbh
it’d just be the two of them getting ice cream or something like that lol
hendery grew up with a ton of sisters so like I def feel like he would be a little confused with how to raise his son
but I mean, if his mochou was more on the feminine side? so what?
hendery loved mochou for who he is
omg, both boys would be so whipped for the girls tho
like if hendery was watching all of the kids, he would for sure end up dressed up as a princess
mochou too
when you came home, hendery would have a princess dress on him that def doesn’t fit bc it’s xiuying’s dress
mochou would be covered in head to toe with makeup
and hendery would be talking in his girl voice about being the beautiful queen of the land
it’s the best thing ever tbh
>> as a teen/adult <<
he becomes a creator/director for movies and such
like his creativity is so amazing and it remains the same way until he’s an adult
and the world needs to know his stories and such
he vibes well with yuta’s daughter, nakamoto akari
they both have such an amazing imagination and they both just want to share it into the world
he honestly follows in akari’s footsteps bc like she has a bit more experience in this field than he does
mochou for sure works in the same animation studio she works at
and together, they just build the coolest worlds ever
they def have their own ideas and stuff
but like if they work on a project together
they lowkey can just sync up and like they barely need words
everyone else who works in the animation studio is like???
bc like akari would talk to mochou for like 2 min
and then he just nods and starts drawing
then she starts drawing too
and like the characters from the drawings look virtually identical
it’s crazyy
they’re on the same wavelength
he for sure still parties hard with his 127 squad
like during work, he’s serious and straightforward
but like leon, jieun, and haeun would pick him up at the studio and he’s screaming for some reason lol
not out of fear,
out of excitement bc he’s ready to PARTY HARD WITH HIS FRIENDS
i feel like mochou would have the same exact sense of humor hendery has
like
as an adult, if hendery and mochou were just spending some time together
it sounds like there’s two hendery’s in the room
and oh no
tbh
mochou? he’s getting all of the ladies
i feel like he would be the type to have a different girl fall for him each week
i also feel like he’s too clueless to reject or accept their feelings
omg one time
while he was at a work seminar
one of the people he met would write her number on a tissue or something
and she would hand it to him
and he would be like “thanks! my nose was a little stuffy”
thEN PROCEED TO BLOW HIS NOSE IN THE NAPKIN
he would be so clueless and just throw it away
and like he def didn’t do it on purpose
he would just flash her a smile and act like nothing happened
bc to him, nothing happened other than a nice person gave him a tissue bc his nose was stuffy
mochou is a funny one, that’s for sure.
WONG ZHANGJING >> as a baby <<
she’s really nice and sweet and such
zhangjing is the maknae of all of the kids (for now)
she’s the baby baby
anD EVERYONE TREATS HER AS SUCH
like all of her siblings, she was just such a pretty baby
zhangjing was most def the most delicate out of all of her siblings
she was just the smallest
zhangjing looked like a little doll
compared to all of her siblings
she was the calmest and the most docile
zhangjing wasn’t excessively giggly like xiuying
zhangjing wasn’t creepy like mochou
she was just sweet and kind
everyone in the entire group is so whipped for her just bc she’s the baby
like whenever the entire group is hanging out, there is for sure someone holding her at all times
the boys just switch off who gets to hold little zhangjing
omg jisung would hold her for a sec and like want to place her on the ground
and instantly EVERYONE excluding hendery would jump and and be like “jiSUNG NOOOOOO”
poor jisung would be too shocked and just stay frozen with zhangjing in his arms
hendery would step up and be like “guys... it’s okay. zhangjing can go on the ground, she’s not made of paper.”
the boys just thought little zhangjing was too good for the ground lol
omg hendery for sure lives for the compliments whenever someone calls zhangjing pretty
like if she’s on a baby carrier and one of the boys would gush over zhangjing, he’d say the funniest things
like “oh thank you, made her myself! this beauty was made on a fun night around 9 months ago.”
feel free to smack him on the arm for saying that
zhangjing’s natural cuteness just made everyone around her melt
tbh, if you look at his kids all together
all of them are so pretty
like it’s crazy
zhangjing also got hendery’s eyes lol (all of your kids have them lol)
but her stares aren’t as creepy as mochou’s were
tbh, zhangjing’s eyes were always busy
she loved to take in the entire world through her eyes
bc of this, she was a rather quiet baby, simply bc she was spending most of her time observing the world
>> as a child <<
lmao tbh
she’s sunshine
she’s the cutest
zhangjing honestly looks so innocent
the entire group still maintains the “doN’T LET ZHANGJING TOUCH THE GROUND” sorta mentality
even tho they all know that she’s fine and can do whatever she wants
for some reason, she just gives off the vibe
maybe it’s bc she was the youngest at one point
she’s best friends with lucas’s youngest daughter, wong lina
lina’s personality is actually closer to hendery’s personality
while zhangjing’s personality is closer to lucas’s
like lina can be upfront about her crackheadedness and just does whatever she wants lol
zhangjing is just purely happy practically all of the time
when something makes her sad, oh no
everYONE IS LIKE “NOOO WHO MADE YOU SAD WE’LL FIX IT DON’T CRY”
if you see zhangjing cry, you are 100% going to cry too, guaranteed.
omg like one time
you would come home from visiting your parents or something like that
and for some reason, your entire family is in the living room and their all crying
your heart drops bc you think something bad happened
so you instinctively hug all of your babies close and ask
hendery walks over and envelops everyone into a group hug, dramatically sobbing
you try to get him to explain and through a ton of sobs and hiccups he manages to get out something like “zhangjing started crying because she figured out lina is going to be gone visiting thailand for the next two weeks.”
you take a look at your youngest and immediately start crying too
why? you don’t really know. but seeing zhangjing’s crying face just triggered it for you
tbh, at this point, zhangjing has superpowers lol
anyway
she remained as a super curious girl
like if she’s every put into a new place, she’ll spend the first 10 minutes just observing
most kids would just run and play without thinking too much
but zhangjing would slowly and carefully take a look around, taking in all of the details of the entire place
she loves all of her siblings
they all baby her lol
zhangjing is just so observant and curious and for some reason, is really good at making people feel emotions they didn’t think they were feeling at the moment lol
>> as a teen/adult <<
she becomes an actress
her roles are usually the innocent girl and such
like if you’ve seen my first first love story
she would play roles like oh garin (from my first first love story)
zhangjing is the sweetest honestly it’s so cute
like she plays that role really well
sometimes when i see that role, i can get annoyed a bit
but zhangjing does it in a way that it doesn’t really annoy people
she keeps her energy levels
and she keeps her puppy like personality
the group still babies her a bit, but it’s not too bad anymore
she still maintains her natural cuteness lol
like she’s for sure really tiny
so it’s just natural for her to be on the cuter side
she adores her siblings so much
zhangjing would cancel her schedules just to see all of xiuying’s shows
during her breaks, she would be catching up on all of the news pertaining to mochou
zhangjing still remains curious
everytime she’s on a new set, she’ll roam around everywhere just bc
she hasn’t played a lead role yet so she doesn’t need to be dressed up and ready right away
omg tbh, sometimes they would have to edit her out of the window in a background
just bc she was wandering and she didn’t know they were filming lol
they all forgive her tho, dw
it’s not a big deal for the company
now is it her natural cuteness that is making everyone okay with it? idk.
she’s the quietest out of all of her siblings
and she has a hard time making good jokes like they do
zhangjing doesn’t cringe at the jokes
she actually likes them a lot!
she just has a hard time making them herself lol
which is fine bc her siblings definitely make enough for her share lol
whenever zhangjing is around lina
they both talk each other’s ears off
out of all of the friendships of kids, lina and zhangjing are the most talkative
they just have so much to tell each other all of the time!
they maintained their friendship even tho they took two different career paths
zhangjing was the baby of the group for a couple years, all before the next wave came (this “wave” refers to the on the way families!)
---
here’s hendery’s gang of mini-hendery’s!!! i hope you guys liked it!
the fact that all three of them look like hendery does resonate with me and i wouldn’t have written it any other way lol
anyway, my request box is open! give me some inspiration plz!!

my ridiculous writer brain has COMPLETELY latched onto a very convoluted dw/btvs crossover involving liberal amounts of doctor/river and giles/jenny, centered largely around a friendship between river and jenny, and it has been FOREVER since i posted any writing at all (which i badly miss) so have this taster of what might someday be a very long fic! i’m dangerously close to accidentally making this my nanowrimo project, rip.
(is there a market for this fic? no idea. is it what i wanna WRITE? apparently so.)
Though she wouldn’t make the connection for a very long time, River actually met Giles years before she ever met Jenny. It was a night when she’d stayed over, and when she came down to see where her husband had swanned off to, she found the Doctor waltzing round the TARDIS console, as he was oft to do in the mornings. Over his shoulder, he said very cheerfully, “Ah, Giles – have you met my wife?”
Drawing the Doctor’s bathrobe closer around her, River looked towards the direction the Doctor had tossed his query. A bespectacled, professorial young man (mid-forties, really, but still much younger than River) inclined his head a little shyly to her. “I don’t believe so,” he said with a small smile. “Though he does bring you up quite a lot.”
“Oh, what a lovely thing to hear,” said River happily, draping her arms round the Doctor’s shoulders to rest her cheek against his. He laughed softly, turning his head to give her a hello kiss. “Well, then I don’t suppose I need to introduce myself – though I’m rather curious as to who you are.”
“This is Giles, he’s hitching a ride with us,” said the Doctor brightly. “Temporal displacement of some stripe landed him in a particularly shifty bit of the Andromeda Galaxy. Lucky for him I gave him my number – for emergencies only, mind,” he added somewhat severely in Giles’s direction. “That situation you’ve got going in California is well out of my jurisdiction.”
“Well aware,” said Giles, flushing a bit. River wondered what he’d attempted to ask the Doctor for. “Though I will argue that the one call I made to you certainly constituted—”
“It’s a fixed point, Giles. Can’t happen.” The Doctor’s smile was still as cheery as ever, but the steel in his voice made it clear that this was something he’d had to argue with Giles about more than just this once. “But I can drop you off back at that school of yours, can’t I? What time did you say the vortex sucked you in?”
“Ah – twenty past three.”
“Day?”
“October sixteenth.” At the Doctor’s look, Giles let out a frustrated breath. “1998.”
“Have to be precise about it, don’t I?” The Doctor flipped a handful of buttons with dramatic flourish, sprinting around to the other side of the console to hit a few more buttons. “Especially seeing as—”
“Sweetie,” said River, “there really isn’t any need to press that many buttons to get him back to 1998. All you did was turn the lights on and off in the swimming pool.”
“No, I didn’t,” said the Doctor. “Didn’t I?”
Patting his shoulder, River let go of her husband, strolling over to lean against the railing next to Giles. “Lovely to meet you, by the way,” she said. “How did you and the Doctor first become acquainted?”
“Oh, he’s – well-versed in my family’s business,” said Giles somewhat stiffly.
“No secrets between me and the missus, Giles!” called the Doctor, who was continuing to theatrically hammer buttons at random. Men. “Well, you know, aside from all the secrets we’re already keeping from each other. River, you know about Sunnydale, don’t you? Think we visited it twice on my end.”
“Sunnydale,” River repeated. The name sounded vaguely familiar. “That little American town with the vampires that are actually vampires?”
“More things in heaven and earth, Horatio,” quipped the Doctor.
“Only visited it once with you, sweetie, and it was in the early seventies – so we’ll visit it again in the future?”
“February 1998,” said the Doctor with a curious softness. His eyes met Giles’s, a strange, somber look passing between them, and River felt the distinct sense of a secret she wasn’t in on. She was used to this, however, and very deliberately ignored it. “Giles wanted my help rewriting time.”
“Oh,” said River, feeling a twinge of sympathy. Her experience with fixed points hadn’t been at all pleasant. “What was it?”
Giles’s small smile was frozen on his face. In a stiffly polite tone of voice, he said, “In the past. Doctor, really, I’d prefer to just be taken to Sunnydale; I don’t particularly feel like reliving the abject humiliation of the last time you and I met.”
“As I’ve said before,” said the Doctor, quiet and gentle, “it’s nothing I’m not familiar with.”
For some reason, then, Giles looked towards River. There was a strange, desperate sadness in his eyes. “Quite,” he said. “River, it was truly lovely to meet you; I’ve always regretted being in no condition to do so the last time your husband was in town. I—” He hesitated, then swallowed, shaking his head a little. “No. No, it’s not my place, but I still must tell you—”
“Giles,” said the Doctor, that warning note in his voice again.
“If it’s not your place, you likely shouldn’t,” said River lightly. “The Doctor and I have rules for a reason. Time is a fragile thing.”
Giles looked up at her, then towards the Doctor. “Is it worth it, then?” he said, his voice shaking. “Time – stolen time – with no knowledge of when it will be cut brutally short?”
“I’m still in it,” said the Doctor. He had moved away from the console, dramatics set aside in favor of quietly wrapping his arms around River’s waist. “Any time with the woman I love is a blessing.”
He knew. The knowledge lurched through River like a lightning bolt. He knew something horrible, something awful that had happened to River, or perhaps to the Doctor, and whatever it was, the Doctor knew it too. Forcing her own plastic smile to her face – because River Song never showed weakness – she tugged herself gently free from the Doctor’s arms, placing a hand briefly on his shoulder. “I really should go up and get dressed,” she said.
“River—” said Giles.
“What good would it do to tell her, Giles?” said the Doctor as River strode back towards their room. “Not everything can be changed, no matter how much we wish it could.”
 ~~~~~
The Doctor came up after Giles had gone, looking much older and much more tired than he ever let Amy and Rory see. River, who was sitting propped up against the pillows, reached out a wordless hand; he took it, pressing a reverent kiss to her wrist. “I’m sorry,” he whispered hoarsely. “You will never know how sorry I am, River.”
“Doctor, I never thought this was going to be easy, you and me,” said River quietly. “It’s all right if there are some things I’ll not know about until they happen.”
“You forgive me endlessly,” said the Doctor, “endlessly, for the way I treat you. How do you have it within yourself to do that?”
“You forgave me,” said River. “A very, very long time ago, when I needed it most. I don’t think anyone else in the universe will forgive me for the things I’ve done.”
“Damn the universe,” said the Doctor hotly, and caught her face in his hands, pulling her into a kiss.
The moment was simple and ultimately forgotten. There were too many moments like this – the Doctor charged with a strange and miserable secret, River unable to condemn him for a horror she hadn’t yet experienced – for River to remember every single time the Doctor was wracked with mysterious guilt. Shadows and skeletons characterized River’s relationship with the Doctor; she’d never been afraid of things like that. What mattered were these moments: the Doctor pressing River desperately into the pillows, heated kisses trailing down her throat. He apologized a thousand times over in the way he touched her – let her closer to him than anyone else could ever be. However broken and awful the world around them was, she still had him, and that was what mattered.
Artist!Keefe hc
When Keefe gets nervous he draws
Sometimes on himself, little flowers and fires on his fingers
but mostly he likes drawing on other people
Fitz and Biana could almost always tell how bad the day was buy how crowded his hands are
during Black Swan meetings, he’ll wordlessly grab Fitz or Biana’s (really whoever he feels comfortable with unless they’re really into it and he thinks he’ll be distracting) and grab a pen or pencil from his pocket and start doodling
When they thought that Sophie and Dex had died, Keefe was at Everglen almost everyday
He would lightleap over, walk up to Fitz’s room, and grab his arm
Keefe and Biana were the only people allowed in Fitz’s room at that time, sometimes they’d all sit on his bed, Biana leaning on Fitz, Keefe holding onto Fitz
And when Keefe’s pen would sometimes poke a little too hard Fitz would say anything he would flinch either, because if Keefe had to deal with Fitz throwing things across the room and yelling and anything and everything, he could take a little pain
Then while Alden was broken, Keefe would find himself in Biana’s room, the sparkle pen that Biana had given him for midterms one year, drawing on her while she cried because after so many years of it, the feeling of the pen on her arm slowly moving was comforting
While they hid in Mount Everest Keefe found himself resisting the urge to reach into his pockets and grab his pen, but he left it at home because he it wasn’t the time
And after when they found out that it was his mom he found himself running out of reachable room on his arms and ankles
Then they were at the Black Swan and his co-revenge with Dex he finds himself trying to calm his panic attack that shouldn’t be happening why now?? Dex asks what helps him and finds himself rubbing his back while he draws beautiful designs on his arm
Keefe knew he was coming apart but he didn’t find himself in front of Fitz’s door, he was in his own room surrounded by papers on the walls because he didn’t need to calm down he needed to figure it out
and when he decides to join the Neverseen and he feels even more alone because they took away his pen so he was left with tracing ideas on his arms
When Sophie tells him it’s time for him to come home he grabs his pen along with the caches because screw it Biana gave it to him and like hell he’s gonna leave it and he finds himself trying to keep Sophie alive with his nonexistent healing skills and he’s done all he can waiting for some to
and she does she doesn’t say anything about the pen marks on her arm because they have bigger things to worry about and he’s ignoring them just as much as her
when Sophie tells him that he has to stay home Ro makes fun of him for drawing like a crazy person but when he wakes up from a nightmare and she has to calm him down she lets him draw on her only moderately complaining about how sparkly it is couldn’t he have any other pen? but only when she knows he’s okay because she cares guys
and when he visits Quentin for something that he was supposed to pick up, he finds no one home, and the package on the table when he hears muffled sobs coming from another room
after a bit of debating he tries to trace them through the house he finds Amy curled up on a couch sobbing into her knees he approaches her slowly and asks if she’s okay to which he gets a soft shake of her head and so he sits next to her and asks if she wants a hug to which she launches herself at him and he holds her for a bit because keefe would be an amazing older brother and loves kids and he asks if he can draw on her arm, because that helps him and he’s been told it’s soothing
so he lets her talk as he draws and she talks about her family and her life in the Forbidden Cities and she asks if she can draw on him and at first he’s surprised but he hands her his sparkly pen and lets her draw on his hand and he tells her about things in the Lost Cities and she asks about Sophie and their friends so he tells her
Eventually he remembers the package and she asks if he could come back again and they become friends and when she goes back, they find a way to keep in touch because amy’s like his little sister and amy wants to keep an eye on this reckless idiot that’s her older brother
In the library when they’re searching their way through books and Tam passes out what it’s boring and he’s never actually had a full nights sleep and what’s a better time than now? and he wakes up to his left arm having stars and trees drawn on along with this little icon that look suspiciously like his bangs and on the inside of his wrist is surprisingly nice handwriting “Sorry Bangs Boy, you passed out”
Tam just sighs and washes it off after showing it to Linh who laughs and thinks it’s cute that that’s what Keefe does when he’s stressed because they’d be lying if they said they didn’t notice how tense Keefe had been
Three days later while combing the streets of Atlantis, he finds himself ranting to Linh who just nods and listens and when they sit down at a shop he finally feels comfortable to ask if he can draw on her hand and Linh gets very excited because he’s trusting her and he acts like it’s no big deal when she compliments the henna like drawing on her hand and asks if Biana gave him the sparkle pen
During the trials he goes to draw on Fitz’s arm, but as he reaches out Fitz yanks his arm away and blankly stares straight ahead and there’s a small part of Keefe that cracks a little because Fitz hadn’t done that before and Biana glances over at him and gives him a sympalizing look and he remembered that he was supposed to be comforting them
When Fitz and Sophie got stuck in the Healing Center Keefe felt his gut wrench everytime he looked at Fitz because the last time he had been awake he had made it clear that Keefe wasn’t allowed to touch him
the days he’s not with Sophie he’s with Biana, because she needs someone, but in turn he’s hanging around Dex again and often he’ll find himself in Dex’s room testing out some new gadget with Biana, ro makes fun of him often for it or they’re training with Linh and the best part is it’s often that they ask him to draw on them
When Biana feels anxious about her scars he makes them in to falling stars or flowers, at one point he makes them into a snake and she decides that that’s her favorite a very pink and sparkly menacing snake
When they’re all tired from school Dex finds himself with Keefe holding his arm connecting the freckles as the rest find new things that they look like
And Linh always wants a new fancy henna-like design on her hand
When Tam gets taken and Fitzphie becomes a thing, Keefe is with Linh drawing as she cries chanting that they have to get him back, “We will, we will”
He’s there for the others, like he always has been, to the point that their parents aren’t surprised anymore when he randomly light leaps and finds his own way up to their rooms
he talks to Amy too, making sure things are okay, and he smiles and jokes around with her when she asks about them, he doesn’t want her to worry
Dex and Biana tell him about Team Valiant the first chance they have
And when Sophie needs him he’s there, but with a smile and a joke and a plea for human cookies because she didn’t need art, she needed him
And when he comes up with the plan to go to the dwarven city Linh and Marella immediately agree because there was no way in hell they were keeping Linh away from her brother
When he goes into acoma everyone loses it
Sophie and Fitz switch off on days
Linh hasn’t washed off the last mark he gave her, she won’t not until he wakes up, Marella and Marcua go with her sometimes Tam will too “Never thought I’d miss you making fun of my hair buddy”
Biana gets more sparkle pens for him and draws her snake twisting around his arm “She’ll protect you”
Keefe only has a few freckles, and they’re mostly on his hands, so Dex makes sure to connect them “Come on Keefe, I can’t prank people without you”
After the first week when it really set in, Fitz cried next to him for hours while Biana held him, “You can draw on me everyday for the rest of our lives if you just wake up” he says pounding the nightstand
As Sophie watches the drawing appear she starts adding some of her own, some are candy from the Forbidden Cities, and she claimed the inside of his wrist with Alicorn wings like he drew the first time
When Amy asked why Keefe wasn’t returning her calls Sophie realized that she didn’t know, and she didn’t even realized that they talked and when she tells her Amy goes absolutely feral Sophie comes to grab her and she barges right into the Councillor’s meeting room not giving a shit that she could be banned forever, and pounds her fist into the table and tells them that she will be visiting once a week after so long it got moved to once a month and she dares any of them to tell her otherwise
Bronte and Oralie are the first to agree and Emery is the last, and he tries to give this girl his hardest stare, and even Sophie cringes a little but Amy stares back jaw set, face hard, hands in fists on the table and finally he agrees
So she visits and sometimes if others are there they’ll fill her in on somethings, and occasionally they’ll tell her stories about Keefe about their history and she’ll sit their holding Keefe’s hand in a death grip and will listen
Elwin quickly learns what marks he can and cant wash off most of them stay some they like to redraw, he learns who will leave easier and who wont and he learns to be a bit harder but a bit softer with these stubborn kids the only one he won’t kick out forcefully is Amy the one and only time he tried she let a massive string of human cusswords and yelled that she wasn’t going to leave her brother’s side and Elwin knew not to mess with the young human who made the Council bend to her will Amy makes a bit of a reputation for herself they learn to fear her a bit
Ro is the only one that never left Keefe’s side because he was her charge but more importantly her friend
Most days she sit in the corner silently, her gaze flickering throughout the room, checking all the exist and checking on Keefe and even after her father relieved her of her duty over Keefe and said she could come home she refused and said she wasn’t leaving til he wakes, Amy was the first one to approach her she plopped herself down next to her and stared at her dagger until she would let her hold it, when she comes over Amy demands that she teaches her how to fight and she does sometimes Elwin asks if they’ll go outside before they ruin his office please and thank you I can look after him for a few minutes and so they do and Ro teaches her everything and sometimes Sandor and the others while help train her a bit, no one knows against what, she says it’s to keep herself grounded and maybe a bit because she wants to storm up to the Neverseen and tear them apart bit by bit
But all it took to get this many people to care about him was one simple quirk of drawing on people’s arms i might make one of these about ro and amy’s friendship because it’s adorable and I think it would be great
Chapter 4 part 2
I threw myself into clubbing like it was going out of style. Cary and I bounced all over downtown clubs from Tribeca to the East Village, wasting stupid money on cover charges and having a fabulous time. I danced until my feet felt like they were going to fall off, but I toughed it out until Cary complained about his heeled boots first.
We’d just stumbled out of a techno-pop club with a plan to buy me flip-flops at a nearby Walgreens when we ran across a hawker promoting a lounge a few blocks away.
“Great place to get off your feet for a while,” he said, without the usual flashy smile or exaggerated hype most of the hawkers employed. His clothes—black jeans and turtleneck—were more upscale, which intrigued me. And he didn’t have fliers or postcards. What he handed me was a business card made from papyrus paper and printed with a gilded font that caught the light of the electric signage around us. I made a mental note to hang on to it as a great piece of print advertising.
A stream of quickly moving pedestrians flowed around us. Cary squinted down at the lettering, having a few more drinks in him than I had. “Looks swank.”
“Show them that card,” the hawker urged. “You’ll skip the cover.”
“Sweet.” Cary linked arms with me and dragged me along. “Let’s go. You might find a quality guy in a swanky joint.”
My feet were seriously killing me by the time we found the place, but I quit bitching when I saw the charming entrance. The line to get in was long, extending down the street and around the corner. Amy Winehouse’s soulful voice drifted out of the open door, as did well-dressed customers who exited with big smiles.
True to the hawker’s word, the business card was a magic key that granted us immediate and free entrance. A gorgeous hostess led us upstairs to a quieter VIP bar that overlooked the stage and dance floor below. We were shown to a small seating area by the balcony and settled at a table hugged by two half-moon velvet sofas. shepropped a beverage menu in the center and said, “Your drinks are on the house. Enjoy your evening.”
“Wow.” Cary whistled. “We scored.”
“I think that hawker recognized you from an ad.”
“Wouldn’t that rock?” He grinned. “God, it’s a great night. Hanging out with my best girl and crushing on a new hunk in my life.”
“Oh?”
“I think I’ve decided to see where things go with Trey.”
That made me happy. It felt like I’d been waiting forever for him to find someone who’d treat him right. “Has he asked you out yet?”
“No, but I don’t think it’s because he doesn’t want to.” He shrugged and smoothed his artfully ripped T-shirt. Paired with black leather pants and spiked wristlets, he looked sexy and wild. “I just think he’s trying to figure out the situation with you first. He wigged when I told him I lived with a woman and that I’d moved across the country to be with you. He’s worried I might be bi-curious and secretly hung up on you. That’s why I wanted you two to meet today, so he could see how you and I are together.”
“I’m sorry, Cary. I’ll try to put him at ease about it.”
“It’s not your fault. Don’t worry about it. It’ll work out if it’s supposed to.”
His assurances didn’t make me feel better. I tried to think if there was a way I could help.
Two guys stopped by our table. “Okay if we join you?” the taller one asked.
I glanced at Cary, and then back at the guys. They looked like brothers and they were very attractive. Both were smiling and confident, their stances loose and easy.
I was about to say, Sure, when a warm hand settled on my bare shoulder and squeezed firmly. “This one’s taken.”
Across from me, Cary gaped as Lauren Jauregui rounded the sofa and extended her hand to him. “Taylor. Lauren Jauregui.”
“Cary Taylor.” He shook Lauren’s hand with a wide smile. “But you knew that. Nice to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
I could’ve killed him. I seriously thought about it.
“Good to know.” Lauren settled on the seat beside me, her arm draped behind me so that her fingertips could brush casually and possessively up and down my arm. “Maybe there’s hope for me yet.”
Twisting at the waist, I faced her and whispered fiercely, “What are you doing?”
she shot me a hard glance. “Whatever it takes.”
“I’m going to dance.” Cary stood with a mischievous grin. “Be back in a bit.”
Ignoring my pleading glance, my best friend blew me a kiss and the guys followed him. I watched them all go, my heart racing. After another minute, ignoring Lauren became ridiculous, as well as impossible.
My gaze slid over her. shewore dress slacks in graphite gray and a black V-neck sweater, the overall effect being one of careless sophistication. I loved the look on her and was attracted to the softness it gave her, even though I knew it was only an illusion. she was a hard woman in a lot of ways.
I took a deep breath, feeling like I needed to make an effort to socialize with her. After all, wasn’t that my big complaint? That she wanted to skip past the getting-to-know-you stage and jump straight into bed?
“You look…” I paused. Fantastic. Wonderful. Amazing. So damn sexy…In the end, I went with the lame, “I like the way you look.”
Her brow arched. “Ah, something you like about me. Is that a general like of the overall package? Or just the clothes? Only the sweater? Or maybe it’s the pants?”
The edge to her tone rubbed me the wrong way. “And if I say it’s just the sweater?”
“I’ll buy a dozen and wear them every damn day.”
“That would be a shame.”
“You don’t like the sweater?” she was pissy, her words coming clipped and fast.
My hands flexed restlessly in my lap. “I love the sweater, but I also like the suits.”
she stared at me a minute, and then nodded. “How was your date with B.O.B.?”
Oh hell. I looked away. It was a lot easier talking about masturbation over the phone. Doing it while squirming under that piercing green stare was mortifying. “I don’t kiss and tell.”
she brushed the backs of her fingers over my cheek and murmured, “You’re blushing.”
I heard the amusement in her voice and swiftly changed topics. “Do you come here often?”
Shit. Where did that clichéd line come from?
Her hand dropped to my lap and caught one of mine, her fingers curling into my palm. “When necessary.”
A quick stab of jealousy made me stiffen. I glared at her, even though I was mad at myself for caring either way. “What does that mean? When you’re on the prowl?”
Lauren’s mouth curved into a genuine smile that hit me hard. “When expensive decisions need to be made. I own this club, Camila.”
Of course shedid. Jeez.
A pretty waitress set two pinkish-colored iced drinks in square tumblers on the table. she looked at Lauren and gave her a flirtatious smile. “Here you go, Miss. Jauregui. Two Stoli Elites and cranberry. Can I get you anything else?”
“That’ll be all for now. Thanks.”
I could totally see that she wanted to get on the pre approved list and I bristled at that; then I was distracted by what we’d been served. It was my beverage of choice when clubbing and what I’d been drinking all night. My nerves tingled. I watched her take a drink, swirl it around in her mouth like a fine wine, and then swallow it. The working of her throat made me hot, but that was nothing compared to what the intensity of her stare did to me.
“Not bad,” she murmured. “Tell me if we made it right.”
she kissed me. she moved on fast, but I saw it coming and didn’t turn away. Her mouth was cold and flavored with alcohol-laced cranberry. Delicious. All the chaotic emotion and energy that had been writhing around inside me abruptly became too much to contain. I shoved a hand in her glorious hair and clenched it tight, holding her still as I sucked on her tongue. Her groan was the most erotic sound I’d ever heard, making the flesh between my legs tighten viciously.
Shocked by the fury of my reaction, I wrenched away, gasping.
Lauren followed, nuzzling the side of my face, her lips brushing over my ear. she was breathing hard, too, and the sound of the ice in her tumbler clinking against the glass skittered across my inflamed senses.
“I need to be inside you, Camila,” she whispered roughly. “I’m aching for you.”
My gaze fell to my drink on the table, my thoughts swirling around in my head, a clusterfuck of impressions and recollections and confusion. “How did you know?”
Her tongue traced the shell of my ear and I shivered. It felt like every cell in my body was straining toward her. Resisting her took an impossible amount of energy, draining me and making me feel tired.
“Know what?” she asked.
“What I like to drink? What Cary’s name is?”
she inhaled deeply, and then pulled away. Setting her drink down, she shifted on the sofa and drew a knee up onto the cushion between us so that she faced me directly. Her arm once again draped over the sofa back, her fingertips drawing circles on the curve of my shoulder. “You visited another of my clubs earlier. Your credit card popped and your drinks were recorded. And Cary Taylor is listed on the rental agreement for your apartment.”
The room spun. No way…My cell phone. My credit card. My fucking apartment. I couldn’t breathe. Between my mother and Lauren, I felt claustrophobic.
“Camila. Jesus. You’re white as a ghost.” sheshoved a glass into my hand. “Drink.”
It was the Stoli and cranberry. I pounded it, draining the tumbler. My stomach churned for a moment, then settled. “You own the building I live in?” I gasped.
“Oddly enough, yes.” she moved to sit on the table, facing me, her legs on either side of mine. she took my glass and set it aside; then warmed my chilled hands with her.
“Are you crazy, Lauren?”
Her mouth thinned. “Is that a serious question?”
“Yes. Yes, it is. My mom stalks me, too, and she sees a shrink. Do you have a shrink?”
“Not presently, but you’re driving me crazy enough to make that a possibility.”
“So this behavior isn’t normal for you?” My heart was pounding. I could hear the blood rushing past my eardrums. “Or is it?”
she shoved a hand through her hair, restoring order to the strands I’d mussed when we’d kissed. “I accessed information you voluntarily made available to me.”
“Not to you! Not for what you used it for! That has to violate some kind of privacy law.” I stared at her, more confused than ever. “Why would you do that?”
shehad the grace to look disgruntled at least. “So I can figure you out, damn it.”
“Why don’t you just ask me, Lauren? Is that so fucking hard for people to do nowadays?”
“It is with you.” she grabbed her drink off the table and tossed back most of it. “I can’t get you alone for more than a few minutes at a time.”
“Because the only thing you want to talk about is what you have to do to get laid!”
“Christ, Camila,” she hissed, squeezing my hand. “Keep your voice down!”
I studied her, taking in every line and plane of her face. Unfortunately, cataloging the details didn’t lessen my awe even a tiny bit. I was beginning to suspect I’d never get over being dazzled by his looks.
And I wasn’t alone; I’d seen how other women reacted around her. And she was crazy rich, which made even old, bald, and paunchy guys attractive. It was no wonder she was used to snapping her fingers and scoring an orgasm.
Her gaze darted over my face. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“I’m thinking.”
“About what?” Her jaw tightened. “And I’m warning you, if you say anything about orifices, preapprovals, or seminal emissions, I won’t be held accountable for my actions.”
That almost made me smile. “I want to understand a few things, because I think it’s possible I’m not giving you enough credit.”
“I’d like to understand a few things myself,” she muttered.
“I’m guessing the ‘I want to fuck you’ approach has a high success rate for you.”
Lauren’s face smoothed into unreadable impassivity. “I’m not touching that one, Camila.”
“Okay. You want to figure out what it’s going to take to get me into bed. Is that why you’re here in this club right now? Because of me? And don’t say what you think I want to hear.”
Her gaze was clear and steady. “I’m here for you, yes. I arranged it.”
Suddenly the threads the street hawker had been wearing made sense. We’d been hustled by someone on Cross Industries payroll. “Did you figure that getting me here would get you laid?”
Her mouth twitched with suppressed amusement. “There’s always the hope, but I expected it would take more work than a chance meeting over drinks.”
“You’re right. So why do it? Why not wait until Monday lunch?”
“Because you’re out trolling. I can’t do anything about B.O.B., but I can stop you from picking up some asshole in a bar. You want to score, Camila, I’m right here.”
“I’m not trolling. I’m burning off tension after a stressful day.”
“You’re not the only one.” she fingered one of my silver chandelier earrings. “So you drink and dance when you’re tense. I work on the problem that’s making me tense in the first place.”
Her voice had softened, and it stirred an alarming yearning. “Is that what I am? A problem?”
“Absolutely.” But there was a hint of a smile around her lips.
I knew that was a lot of the appeal for her. Lauren Jauregui wouldn’t be where she was, at such a young age, if she took “no” gracefully. “What’s your definition of dating?”
A frown marred the space between her brows. “Lengthy social time spent with a woman during which we’re not actively fucking.”
“Don’t you enjoy the company of women?”
The frown turned into a scowl. “Sure, as long as there aren’t any exaggerated expectations or excessive demands on my time. I’ve found the best way to steer clear of those is to have mutually exclusive sexual relationships and friendships.”
There were those pesky “exaggerated expectations” again. Clearly, those were a sticking point with her. “So, you do have female friends?”
“Of course.” Her legs tightened around mine, capturing me. “Where are you going with this?”
“You segregate sex from the rest of your life. You separate it from friendship, work…everything.”
“I’ve got good reasons for doing that.”
“I’m sure you do. Okay, here are my thoughts.” It was difficult concentrating when I was so close to Lauren. “I told you I don’t want to date and I don’t. My job is priority number one and my personal life—as a single woman—is a close second. I don’t want to sacrifice any of that time on a relationship and there’s really not enough left over to squeeze in anything steady.”
“I’m right there with you.”
“But I like sex.”
“Good. Have it with me.” Her smile was an erotic invitation.
I shoved her shoulder. “I need a personal connection with the men I sleep with. It doesn’t have to be intense or deep, but sex needs to be more than an emotionless transaction for me.”
“Why?”
I could tell she wasn't being flippant. As bizarre as this conversation must be for her, Lauren was taking it seriously. “Call it one of my quirks, and I’m not saying that lightly. It pisses me off to feel used for sex. I feel devalued.”
“Can’t you look at it as you using me for sex?”
“Not with you.” she was too forceful, too demanding.
A sizzling, predatory glimmer sparked in her eyes as I bared my weakness for her.
“Besides,” I went on quickly, “that’s semantics. I need an equal exchange in my sexual relationships. Or to have the upper hand.”
“Okay.”
“Okay? You said that really quickly considering I’m telling you I need to combine two things you work so hard to avoid putting together.”
“I’m not comfortable with it and I don’t claim to understand, but I’m hearing you—it’s an issue. Tell me how to get around it.”
My breath left me in a rush. I hadn’t expected that. shewas a woman who wanted no complications with her sex and I was a woman who found sex complicated, but shewasn’t giving up. Yet.
“We need to be friendly, Lauren. Not best buds or confidants, but two people who know more about each other than their anatomy. To me, that means we have to spend time together when we’re not actively fucking. And I’m afraid we’ll have to spend time not actively fucking in places where we’re forced to restrain ourselves.”
“Isn’t that what we’re doing now?”
“Yes. And see, that’s what I mean. I wasn’t giving you credit for that. You should’ve done it in a less creepy manner”—I covered her lips with my fingers when she tried to cut me off—“but I admit you did try to set up a time to talk and I wasn’t helpful.”
she snipped my fingers with her teeth, making me yelp and yank my hand away.
“Hey. What was that for?”
she lifted my abused hand to her mouth and kissed the hurt, her tongue darting out to soothe. And incite.
In self-defense, I tugged my hand back to my lap. I still wasn’t completely confident that we’d worked things out. “Just so you know there are no exaggerated expectations—when you and I spend time together not actively fucking, I won’t think it’s a date. All right?”
“That covers it.” Lauren smiled and my decision to be with her solidified for me. Her smile was like lightning in the darkness, blinding and beautiful and mysterious, and I wanted her so badly it was physically painful.
Her hands slid down to cup the backs of my thighs. Squeezing gently, she tugged me just a little bit closer. The hem of my short black halter dress slipped almost indecently high and her gaze was riveted to the flesh he’d exposed. Her tongue wet his lips in an action so carnal and suggestive I could almost feel the caress on my skin.
Duffy began begging for mercy, her voice drifting up from the dance floor below. An unwelcome ache developed in my chest and I rubbed at it.
I’d already had enough, but I heard myself saying, “I need another drink.
Chapter 21
Amy didn't know that by "I'll pick you up," Kamilah meant sending a limo for her.
That's how she found herself a few minutes later, getting out of this expensive car with her feets stepping right on the red carpet. In front of the building that she used to work in during one of the most memorable evenings.
The same one night, during which her best friend was attacked. And in the result turned into vampire about which existence Amy had just found out back then.
"I know I told you that before, but," Lily looked at her best friend after they both got out from the limousine. "Kamilah has a fucking good taste," they both laughed.
Lily was the one who was supposed to help Amy chose a dress, so hearing her admitting that Kamilah achieved in what she failed, was worth remembering. It'll be an advantage for Amy over her best friend, and that might come in handy any day.
"You look great too, Lil," Amy hugged her tightly.
The girl laughed under this amount of love.
"Ok, ok, enough," Lily tried to escape from Amy's embrace. "Leave something for the Dark Queen."
Finally, Amy let go of her, giving her friend a moment to catch a breath. That's when she sensed someone's gaze on herself. The girl's eyes moved into the direction of the person that was watching her.
Standing right next to her own, black limousine.
Amy's jaw dropped.
She saw Kamilah standing there in her red, silky dress. This color just ached for attention. It was an intense crimson red, a confident shade to wear, perfectly matching the woman's personality.
The dress had an appropriate V-neckline, deep just enough to show Kamilah's bloom skin, which shined in the lights of the evening.
The woman turned slightly, speaking to Adrian, who was right next to her. That little movement made it possible for Amy to see the other side of the dress. And Kamilah's back which was barely covered with a transparent material.
"Come on, didn't she invite you as her date?" Lily's voice took Amy out of her thoughts. A little push on the back made her go in Kamilah's direction.
Amy looked incredible that night, and awareness of that gave her a lot of confidence. But still, there was nothing that would make her feel more nervous than showing herself around this incredible woman who was like perfection by herself.
The girl's wavy blonde hair was put up in a loose bun, letting go of some golden locks of her hair. They were falling on her back, shoulders, and slightly blushed cheeks. The color of the gown was wonderfully emphasizing Amy's greenish eyes.
When they both stood close to each other, the shade of Kamilah's dress stopped screaming for attention. Instead, the reddish color cooperated with the gold dress of Amy's.
Making them match stunningly.
"Amy, you look absolutely..." Adrian paused their conversation at the moment she appeared next to them. Clearly, not knowing the words to describe his thoughts.
Kamilah looked at her with a soft expression on her face. She leaned down to Amy, holding her with one hand by the waist, pulling the girl slightly closer.
"Ravishing," sweet whisper touched Amy's ear before Kamilah left a soft kiss on one of her cheeks, stepping back a little to spoke louder. "Shall we go inside?"
Amy tried to stop the blush on her face. She couldn't get used to the influence this woman had over her without even trying.
Finally, they went inside with Adrian and Lily on their sides.
***
Perhaps it was a coincidence, maybe not, but Amy noticed it right away. They were seated by the same table that Kamilah and Adrian were last time.
Amy was surprised by how accurately everything was rebuilt around them. She remembered ruined hall, shattered glass, cracks in the walls. And right at that moment? Decorative chandeliers were hanging under the ceiling, shining bright as nothing had really happened.
"Senator wanted the hall to look exactly the same," Adrian noticed Amy's thoughtfulness, sending her a reassuring smile. "After the massacre that happened here, people were distanced to this place."
"I'm distanced for sure," Lily looked around with a weak smile. The surroundings brought painful memories, especially for her.
"He did well by having a gala in here," Kamilah spoke with a firm voice. "It was his responsibility all along."
Something broke inside of Amy. A bad feeling from the last day hit her twice as strong.
"His... responsibility?" her voice shaky, causing a look of concern on Kamilah's face.
"He is a senator after all," the woman kept Amy's gaze till she was sure everything was alright. "He should have stopped the panic a long time ago. This is one of the finest and oldest places in New York for such events. It would be a shame if they closed it entirely."
"Oh...yeah, it would be," shudder maintained on Amy's back, but their talk was interrupted.
A young woman, low-height, all shaking, appeared by their table. She reminded Amy of her own self a few months ago when she was working as a waitress. Acting as awkwardly around such influential people as the girl standing before them.
"Good evening, my name is Susan, and I will..." the first words left her mouth without a problem, but after a moment, she lost all remains of her confidence.
"Not again..." Kamilah rolled her eyes, remembering the night when Lily annoyed her so much. "This place has to be cursed."
"Kamilah!" Amy frowned at the woman, disappointed by her reaction.
"Yeah, weren't you the one who talked all about such a shame it would be if they closed the place?" Lily had her best time trying to hold back a laugh. "I didn't think I'll see the day of you complaining, Ms. Sayeed."
Sparks in Kamilah's eyes were showing that one more word and Lili wouldn't be able to see, nor hear, much more in her life.
"Don't worry about them," Adrian spoke to the waitress. She was standing in front of them, confused and ashamed at once.
"We would like to order the specialty of the chef," Amy smiled charmingly, making the task easier for the girl.
"We would?" Lily asked, sounding like a sad puppy.
She wanted to order something with a lot of alcohol in it. It didn't matter if it was meant to be used during cooking. The liquor just had to be there for her.
"Yes, WE would like to," Amy sent her a similar look that she did toward Kamilah earlier, which made a woman smirk to herself slightly. "Oh, and don't forget to congratulate the chef on how good he looks with his new haircut," Amy smiled, speaking again to the waitress with her usual voice.
"But, he didn't get a haircut," Susan's forehead wrinkled while she was trying to remind herself if the chef really changed something about his hair recently.
"I know, he never does," Amy laughed sweetly, trading looks with Lily that knew where exactly her talk was leading to. "But he loves if someone notices his hair, he'll give you a longer break for sure."
"And more champagne!" Lily made her best friend laugh.
"Of course, that's what you remember the most," Amy rolled her eyes, pretending to be tired of Lily's attitude.
"Damn, I wish I was still working here," Lily looked like she was really considering this thought.
"Wait... you," Susan glanced from one to another. "Worked here?"
"Not so far ago," Amy smiled again, giving the waitress a hope she needed.
Susan returned the smile and excused them before heading to the kitchen to show the order, leaving her guests to themselves.
Amy watched her walking away, feeling her stomach tighten slightly because of the memories. She shuddered surprised when she felt Kamilah's fingers, entwining with her own under the table.
"I cannot conceive what you see in every human," Kamilah spoke quietly as Adrian and Lily were lost in a conversation.
"Well, we're not that different from each other, Kamilah," Amy smiled to her. "You saw something in me too, and I was no more than this girl back then."
She felt a little squeeze of Kamilah's hand. The woman wanted to say something, but at the same time, something else got her attention. Her eyes moved above Amy's head, looking far behind her. The girl wanted to turn around automatically, but another squeeze under the table made her fight the urge to do this.
"What is it?" Amy tried to read from the woman's eyes the answer. But Kamilah quickly composed herself, not wanting to draw attention.
"It's Priya," the woman's voice sharp. "She just arrived with Adam. If I remind myself how she treated you...how she..."
"Hey, shh," Amy put her another hand over Kamilah's to calm her. "I'm here with you, you helped me back then, but I'm in no danger now."
But the woman's stare was still empty, icy, and Amy was already imagining what thoughts were created in the head of hers.
Blonde moved one hand above the table to Kamilah's cheek. She saw all the anger, concern, and pain in her chestnut eyes. And the only what she wished for was to ease that pain somehow.
"I'm safe here," Amy's lips letting out a whisper that only the woman could hear. "With you."
Kamilah's expression softened as she let herself smile slightly. She took Amy's palm out of her cheek and placed a soft kiss on her skin.
"Let's just get through this evening," Kamilah's voice calm, but Amy sensed the unsureness in it.
And that made her realize that she wasn't the only one feeling concerned about how the night would turn out.
***
A hollow sound of metallic knife meeting with the smooth surface of glass echoed loudly in the air.
"May I have your attention?" a resonant voice attracted the concentration of everyone gathered in the hall, causing silence.
It was Adam Vega, standing in the middle of the room, with a glass of champagne raised high. His face dressed up with his usual smile, representing how charismatic and the open-minded person he was.
Or seemed to be.
"At the very beginning, let me tell you how grateful I'm to see all of my friends. Gathered in here to celebrate my birthday," his eyes moved between the people in the crowd. Everyone was listening to him mesmerized. "I'm pleased that we can spend this time together," his smile faded. "We should let ourselves grief and honor the ones that were so cruelly taken from us," like by a magic wand, Amy saw every face in the hall showing pure sorrow. "I feel personally guilty of what happened here that night. That I couldn't have been here to guardian those poor people." Amy barely stopped a sigh of annoyance, but sensing Kamilah's gaze on her back, she composed herself in time.
The girl looked around the room to see that everyone really looked up to this man. Why then, she had this weird intuition that something terrible was about to happen?
The similar one she had during her training with Kamilah. When she knew the moment in which she had to defend herself by dodging before Kamilah's punch.
Like then, the same right now, the only message her brain was sending her was to run away, but she couldn't. She was trying to be brave for the people she came with.
Besides, what could happen anyway?
"Oh my god, he's coming to our table," Lily acted like a fangirl behind her, and that's when Amy realized that she didn't hear senator's last words.
Vega came to their table right after finishing his speech. And because of that, everyone's attention was still focused on him, and in the result, on Amy too.
"May I have this dance?" he reached out to Amy, a smile never leaving his face. "If Ms. Sayeed has nothing against it, of course."
Amy gulped, not knowing what to say, she felt paralyzed. Everyone was staring at her, giving her so much attention.
Too much.
Kamilah's voice took her out of her thoughts.
"Amy can decide for herself, Senator Vega," the woman's voice and posture full of grace, not showing even a hint of negative emotion.
"What would it be then, Ms. Campbell?" their eyes meeting, and Amy knew that she had no other option to choose from.
"With pleasure," her voice sweet, accompanied by a bright smile.
She took Adam's hand, and he walked her slowly to the parquet.
That's when the calm music of waltz echoed in the hall.
Oh my god, waltz, Amy froze for a moment. She had never danced the waltz in her entire life. Not mentioning that she had never danced in front of such a big audience before.
"Just follow my lead," she heard a quiet whisper. It sounded more like an order hidden behind the smile than friendly advice.
They made their way to the center of the parquet. Amy put her left hand on Adam's shoulder, trying to imitate the pose she saw in the movies, but her body refused to relax. Thankfully, when they made a few first steps, everything became more natural for her.
Senator was a good dancer, that was clear for sure. Even with Amy as a terrible one, he was flawlessly leading her to the calm sounds of the music. After a few more tones of the song, more pairs accompanied them on the parquet adding Amy more confidence.
"I hope that you enjoyed the gala so far," his words quiet, only for her to be heard.
"It's amazing, I'm honored to be here," the girl answered. "Thank you for such an opportunity for me."
"How could I not have here someone so close to Kamilah?" Amy stiffened a little after hearing the woman's name. And the words after those made her even more suspicious. "How is my favorite Council member doing, by the way?"
They were dancing around the parquet, not in the center of it anymore. The dance floor became more crowded, making it hard to breathe. Or maybe Amy just wanted it to be the reason for her breathlessness.
"What do you mean?" she answered with a question, not knowing how to react.
"I was concerned about her," Adam seemed to be more engaged in the dancing as words were just escaping his mouth. "It seems like she recovered from this nasty scratch she had."
For a split of a second, they were further away from each other when Vega made Amy twirl around, making her dress dance with her.
For this short moment, Amy understood the meaning of his words, and her stomach tightened immediately. She wanted to let go of his hand, but he pulled her closer, increasing the grip on her waist.
"How would you..." the girl was scared.
He had no right to know about this. Even Adrian didn't know since Kamilah wanted to keep it only between both of them.
So how did he...
Unless...
"It was you," Amy gulped, fear taking over her, making her eyes shining like gold, matching the color of her dress. "You're responsible for the ferals attack in France," her voice got higher as emotions were taking over.
"There you go," Adam kept on dancing, not losing his confidence. "A Bloodkeeper I was waiting so long for."
He knew about me all along, Amy's heartbeat increased with this thought.
It wasn't actually beating anymore, it was racing, trying to escape from her chest.
"And now," Adam's voice sharp like a knife, but his expression didn't change. "Smile as sweet as you can, or some harm can happen to your friends. How ironic would it be?" he laughed shortly. "Losing someone again in the same hall."
Amy's throat clenched, but she forced a smile, not wanting to cause suspicion. Somehow she managed to control her eyes, which went back to their green color before anyone could notice a difference.
At the same time, Adam leaned down to whisper into her ear.
"Now, since you finally solved the puzzle, listen to me carefully," threats touching her neck with his breath. "I want you to get rid of your friends. Especially this beautiful woman that's coming our way," no, Kamilah, don't, Amy thought with despair. "I don't want them to cause any trouble, so better push them away effectively. Then, you'll write to me, and I'll send someone for you. Do you understand?"
Amy hesitated for a moment, causing the grip to tighten around her waist, leaving marks on her skin through material.
"I asked you a question," he stepped back to have a clear view on her face.
"I understand," Amy responded with a sweet chuckle like he just told the best joke she heard so far in her life.
He nodded slightly, smiling, and let go of her hand and waist.
"Ah, Kamilah," his voice normal, without the previous sharpness. "I assume you're here for your beautiful date?"
"Vega," Kamilah gave him a little nod to show respect, not answering the question.
Senator was already on his way to another lady to ask for a dance. And, by this time Amy found herself in Kamilah's arms, trying to find a safe place in there.
"Are you alright?" Kamilah asked with concern. "You seem pretty shaken up now."
Amy looked into her eyes, and she knew.
She knew that she'll have to hurt her soon.
To save her.
"I'm ok," Amy answered with a smile as she kissed Kamilah's lips softly before adding, "Let's dance."
Dance, like the night, was never meant to end.
The Easier Way
POV: On the eve of her wedding to Professor Bhaer, Jo March is forced to confront her sexuality...
Laurie was here last night.
He had such a queer look in his face, I knew he had something to say, so I told him; “whatever it is you had better just hurry up and say it quickly, I’m getting married tomorrow and I don’t have time for your stumbling around.”
That seemed to give him quite an affront. And then I began to worry that something dreadful had happened. That Friedrich had been killed in some freak accident, or that Amy had taken sick in the night. Of course, it was no such thing.
“You don’t have to do this, Jo,” He said. I ought to have known.
“Do what?” I asked, knowing perfectly well what he meant.
“This! All of this!” He gestured wildly to my bridal gown which was hanging in the window, and the flowers on the dresser. He always was so dramatic.
“You’re referring to my marrying Friedrich, I presume?” I could feel my pulse racing in my ears.
“No,” he said. “No. Not just Friedrich. I mean your marrying any man. You may not wish to hear this from me, but somebody has to tell you before you go ahead and make the worst kind of mistake - -”
Up until that point I had been attempting to hold my tongue, but at that I had heard enough.
“A mistake?!” I cried. “So this is what you truly think of him?! How dare you - after everything - come in here and - and - you are wedded to my sister Laurie. Amy! I thought we had settled this years ago. Or have you forgotten? And now you come back in here and presume to tell me that you know what is best for me, for my life, thinking only of your own selfish and insufferable desires - -“
He took a long exhale before beginning his next petition.
“I did not come here thinking in any way of my own wants or desires. Nor do I seek to prescribe what is best for you. You always have known your own mind far too well to allow for that. But that is just it, don’t you see? If you marry him, you will be forfeiting that which you love most dearly, Jo. Your freedom.”
“If you think I would ever commit myself to a man who did not respect me then I’m afraid you are gravely mistaken. I have chosen to marry Friedrich precisely because he is quite the opposite sort of gentleman. A true gentleman. He holds me in the very highest regard, and views me to be his equal in all things. So there. What say you to that?!”
He was pacing up and down in front of the fireplace, scowling and balling up his fists. (How he ever believed we might ever have been happy together is truly beyond me.)
“You do not listen.” He said through gritted teeth. “I take no issue with Mr Bhaer. None whatsoever. I think him to be a perfectly genteel, admirable sort of a man. But that is the issue. He is a man. And for that reason I am convinced he could never make you happy. In fact, I am certain that no man ever could. I tried to love you, Jo, but it was not right and we both knew it. Now I see you are attempting to love him. But it is all a fiction. You are constructing your love for him as you do the characters in your stories. But this is not a story, Jo, this is your own real life.”
He raised his voice in this last ejaculation, which was quite unexpected. I sat silently for several moments, caught between rage and confusion.
“When I look at you Jo, I do not see a woman as she ought to be on the eve of her wedding day, blooming and blushing in the Spring of her romance. Instead, I see a tired woman who has given way to the burden of expectation. You have given up, Jo. It is all a lie! And tomorrow it will be a lie before God. The worst kind.”
And then the strangest thing happened. I suddenly found that I was crying. Great big lurching sobs. And I hadn’t the faintest idea why.
Marrying Friedrich was what I wanted. I knew that. It was true that as a girl I could never comprehend the way Meg and Amy were so desperate to marry, and I had hated the idea that our lives should change. But as I had grown older I had come to see the value of having a husband; that he might bring me comfort and companionship, and a kind of freedom that would never be afforded to me as an unmarried woman. If I continued to live as ‘Jo March’ there would be whole spheres of life to which I could never gain access. I would be always on the outside. But as ‘Mrs Friedrich Bhaer’ I would be afforded respect and consequence. I could make a place for myself in this world. It would be a sacrifice, but Marmee had always taught us that for one's family, sacrifice was necessary. So then I had decided, if I were to marry anyone, I could not think of a man whose soul was more in harmony with my own than Friedrich’s. And he did love me. So, I thought, marrying him must be the right course of action.
But now Laurie was here, drawing out all the old doubts and fears, which he knew would cause me to question myself.
I hated Laurie just then. Truly hated him.
He had come to kneel before me, though he dared not touch me.
“It is not too late,” he said gently. “Call it off. Friedrich will be heartbroken for a time, but he will recover. You, on the other hand, I fear may never.”
I wiped my face on my handkerchief and lifted my gaze to meet his.
“Do not presume to tell me about my choices.” I said, coldly. “You know nothing of womanhood, Theodore Lawrence. You know nothing of the sacrifices demanded of our sex, simply to survive in a world that is governed by your kind. You are a man; you may go wherever you please, do whatever you please, with whomever you please. We do not have that luxury. And far from lecturing me on the topic of my freedom, you ought to consider the chains I have been bound by already, my entire life.”
“Things do not always have to be the way you think, Jo.”
“Oh, really? Tell me then, oh wise one. How might things be different? What other choices do I have?”
He looked uncomfortable. But then seemed resolved to say his piece, and began.
“While I was away in Europe, you know I met a great many different kinds of people, and tried a great many new things.”
“Yes - I dread to think the things you tried in Europe...” I said disparagingly, though I could not help but smirk a little.
“Well, there are people who live differently, you know? Men and women who choose not to marry, but instead seek companionship among - well - among their own kind. And they are happy. Just as happy as any man and wife. True it is challenging to live outside of convention, but I believe God created us all to be equal in his eyes, and each of us just the way he desired us to be.”
I had never heard Laurie speak of such things. I regarded him carefully, searching for any trace of mockery among his features, but found none.
“I thought for a time I might even be content living that way myself, you know. I met a gentleman in Denmark. I resided with him for several months. And truly, I was very happy. But eventually we quarrelled over some silly thing, I let my temper get the better of me and so I left. And then, when I was reunited with your sister, I felt quite sure that my future was by her side. And having had those experiences enabled me to be certain that I myself was not simply giving in to loneliness or expectation. I’ve never spoken of it since, even with my dear Amy, for I do not believe she would understand, but I am entrusting you now Jo, because I think you might. And unlike me, who could be happy either way, living within or without convention, I do not believe you could live in true happiness and fulfillment if you marry Friedrich tomorrow.”
Something inside me was wrenching. The tears were flowing again and I made no attempt to contain them.
“I don’t know how they live, your friends in Europe.” I choaked. “Perhaps they are content with their choices. Perhaps, as you say, that might have been me. But that is another life. And this is my home, Laurie. I cannot leave everyone I love and go gadding about Europe on some hedonistic adventure as you have done. It is as much a fiction as any of my stories.”
“But there are people like that on this side of the Atlantic too, you know? Women of independent means who reside with one another. I even met one such pair while I was visiting with my friend at Harvard last year. They call them ‘Boston Marriages’. Quite fascinating ladies, they were. One was an heiress from France, the other a student of Mathematics. They reminded me so much of you, Jo, I can’t tell you. I’m sure we could make a trip over there and you could meet them and see for yourself…”
I had heard enough. I waited for him to stop talking. Then silently crossed the room, held open the door and waited for him to leave.
“Jo, do not be like this.” He pleaded. “You know it to be the truth. It’s all over your face, plain as day.”
I waited some more, and seeing that I was not to be persuaded, he gave me one last scowl and flounced out in quite a temper.
Only once I had heard the front door slamming did I allow myself to breathe out and collapse onto the sofa in front of the fire.
Laurie’s words had set my thoughts into an unbearable kind of spin. Women in Boston residing with one another, in so-called ‘marriages’. The very idea was unthinkable!
And, yet…
I could not keep it out of my thoughts.
I lay on the sofa in a hopeless state of overwhelm until the fire had burned itself out. Then I just stayed in darkness, watching the coals glowing red and orange, and eventually fell into an uneasy asleep.
I did not awake until this morning, when Amy and Meg shook me saying “goodness Jo, whatever happened here?!”
“We ought never to have left you alone on the night before your nuptials! How awfully neglectful we are…”
“Nevermind that now, time to get up! You need to bathe, and finish your hair, put on your gown...”
The burden that Laurie’s words had left on my heart was too heavy and complex to be communicated to my sisters. As much as I loved them, he was right. It was not a thing they could ever comprehend.
So I just let them sweep me up, into my gown and out the door. It was just... easier that way.
Sonamy YAAU - Irreversible [Chapter 15 - B]
Impatient and restless as ever a blue hedgehog footed in circles through a dark cave, trying to make up his mind. He would sit back on a flat rock and toss up a red emerald only to catch it again. Then he would rise up and start walking again. The resolution that had landed inside him to proceed and indeed go through with this red emerald stuff was gone when he woke up this morning- highly unnerved by a vivid dream. One that had awoke all kinds of questions in his mind that he wasn’t able to shake off. And it wasn’t like him to be this unnerved. Having come to terms about his feelings for Amy had robbed Sonic of his care-free signature attitude. It was extremely annoying for him because he felt like he couldn’t face this problem the way he used to face all the other issues in his life. Running away wasn’t an option because Mobius needed him to fight the oppression from the A.R. and talking to Amy about it wasn’t either. If anything, he didn’t want her to find out. He’d be humiliated but most importantly: nothing would be the same if she knew.   Talking to Tails about it last night was highly uncomfortable for him enough. Neither of them had ever had dated someone before so they shared the lack of experience there. And even though Tails was a couple of years younger than Sonic, he still didn’t take any interest in girls or kissing and everything. It appeared to Sonic that Tails might have a different reason for that than he himself; a girlfriend would slow him down and rob him of his freedom… So he thought for a very long time, until he now had found a new interest in Amy all of the sudden. The dream of last night, in which Amy returned his feelings, kissed him with her rosy lips and chose him over Shadow was proof of that. Immediately he felt guilty for even the tiniest bit of desire to have her instead of Shadow, who he now had come to deeply respect. The swirl of feelings of hope, joy, guilt and surprise overwhelmed him. He had never had dreams like this one before and it had made him doubt what to do.   He shook the upcoming thoughts off, tossed the emerald up once more and caught it with ease and confidence: he was going forth with the plan. He had to get over this! “Sonic? Are you in here?”   Of all the times, why now? Why her? Sweet chaos! You gotta be kidding. It was almost completely dark in here, so maybe if he kept really quiet, she’d go away.. How did she know where he was anyway?   His wristwatch caught his eye and he drew a long and heavy sigh. His location was on and so his marker was trackable for anyone in his friend list- including Amy of course.   “Sonic! I need to talk to you! It’s urgent!” Her voice was drawing near and he heard the tiny chunks of stone crackle under her shoes while she was stepping closer to him.   “Are you in here? I can’t see a thing!” Suddenly he was blinded by the spotlight she turned on and he almost never felt so embarrassed before- as realization dawned that he had yet to explain why he was hiding in this dark cave, ignoring her. To make things worse his tongue felt tied. Sonic swallowed: “A-amy! What brings you here?” He smiled at her in discomfort while in search of where to put his hands in a way that wasn’t unnatural, but failed. Where on Mobius did he leave them before? “Don’t act so casual with me.” At least she thought he was being casual.   “How else would I act?” She looked at him with a worried expression.   “Please don’t go through with it.”  The blood in his hands and feet seemed to draw away. His hands got sweaty and his stomach twisted and churned. He clenched the red emerald in his hands, tiring his fingers from the cramp. She knew! “Is this why we barely seen anything from you for the last weeks?” He remained silent.   “Why didn’t you just talk to me? I thought we were friends!”  “It’s not easy to talk about you know. I’ve never felt anything like this before. And, I… I didn’t want to jeopardize our friendship! It would’ve been for the best. And besides, guys don’t really talk about these things much anyway.”   “It would only have worked if I were totally oblivious about it.” “You weren’t, then?” “I suspected something because you were acting so strange in the cave when Shadow took me home. And then afterwards you didn’t check in on me?! That’s so unlike you.” “I know. I’m sorry.” “I started to think that you didn’t care! But then it dawned to me. That you might care too much after all.”  A quick flashback of his Chaos Engery Transfer in the cave passed by in his mind.   “Did you share that vision with me then, back in the cave?” “I did,” she confessed. “My memory was a little blurry at first, but I regained it later.” “We’ll need a new plan than.” Sonic sat down and leaned with his back against the cave wall. Amy sat down next to him and it made him nervous. She placed a hand on his knee. She asked him what he exactly felt for her and he told her everything: the fear of suddenly losing her, how he thought of her as amazing, kind, strong and brave and that he didn’t see a future without her in it. How he suddenly was filled with love at the moment he transferred his Chaos Energy to her and how he didn’t know how to act. The fear of ruining their friendship and how annoying it was that he didn’t know what to do. How he lost himself in it and how it led to this stupid Chaos emerald legend-thing. And then there was Shadow, who was more of a friend to him now than he had been a rival. He didn’t want to be a burden to anyone, so he tried to get rid of this ridiculous emotional rollercoaster that he was placed in without approval. Amy nodded while she listened to him.   “Sweetie, I knew you loved me. I don’t know though if it’s a romantic kind of love.” “What?” He eyes widened with the possibility of and escape.   “I mean: are you attracted to me?” “How would I know?” “Do you want to kiss me?” He looked deeply into her eyes, heating up in distress of not knowing.   “Ames, you’re gorgeous, but it doesn’t matter if I do. You’re with Shadow and you’re happy. Right?” “I am… And I can’t believe I’m gonna say this but, Sonic, I’m not the girl I used to be. I’ve been trying to catch your eye for so many years… Even though my love for you was a great part of my strength, it’s been also exhausting. I just gave up at some point. I didn’t believe you would ever want me like this… And I got older, more serious, focussed on my studies and became less clingy, haha. Then Shadow and I became a couple. He is amazing and treats me so well. He’s secretly such a gentleman.”
“I get that. It’s just too late, isn’t it?” “I guess. I just don’t want to open that book again, Sonic.” “Kind of ironic. I’m never late.” “There’s a first time for everything, right?” “True. How did you know what I planned on doing by the way?” “Tails told me. I dragged it out of him. He feels horrible. You should go see him.” Sonic looked at her in annoyance, unsure if he cared at all at this point and in doubt who he blamed more: Tails or Amy. “Anyway: I’ll just have to get over this...” He said with a regained confidence and calm heart. It didn’t hurt that bad after all. ”Can you help me with that?” “How?” “Maybe you could go back to being a crazy obsessed teenager again? That drove me far from you, didn’t it? Or I could ask Shadow about all the things he doesn’t like about you. Oh! I can think of one thing already: you’re a hothead.” “Are you aware that you’re still talking?” She snarled at him, trying to hold her temper, squeezing his hand so tight that it hurt.   “Ah! Okay, I get it.” The two of them giggled at each other and suddenly burst into inexplicable laughter. For the first time in weeks the air felt cleared and the vibe between these two friends was like it always had been. He looked up to her and then rested his head on her shoulder, heaving a sigh.   “I’m sorry I got us into this mess.”  “It’s okay.”  We’re cool?” “Always.”
Knuckles Endangered Species #1 Behind the Scenes!
It’s been a while, but it’s finally time for another behind-the-scenes look at one of our stories!  This time we’ll be covering our latest release, as well as the story that had been visualized and started the earliest in our project: Part 1 of the Endangered Species rewrite.
As usual, let’s start with the cover.  Our ex-admin in charge of the entire rewrite, The Shadow Imperator, took inspiration from the covers for Sonic the Hedgehog #211 and 245, as well as an advertisement for Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.  Pencils, inks and colors were all done by @drawloverlala, who managed to brilliantly blend all the designs together into something new and exciting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The story begins immediately where the official #243 left off, with Sonic getting KO’ed by Metal Knuckles.  The robot doppelganger is quick to remind Lien-Da of his mission to monitor her and keep her in line, which is a nod to Sonic Universe #37, where Eggman told his Grandmasters that the Metal Series will be doing just that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since Lien-Da is the Grandmaster of her branch of the Dark Egg Legion, we decided her Kommissar should be Gae-Na, her old confidant that hadn’t been seen since StH #118.  She was given a heavy redesign by CrimDa, sporting a more realistic cybernetic eye as well as electric batons similar to Lien-Da’s electric whips.  Her absence up until this point was due to maternity leave, having only recently given birth to her daughter Demi-Na but was left to raise the girl alone after losing her husband Kanewisher to the Egg Grapes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
 You may have noticed that when Gae-Na knocks out Amy, she doesn’t seem particularly pleased about it.  As a mother, she doesn’t relish the idea of fighting children, but will do what it takes to ensure that her daughter can grow up in a stable echidna society, even if it’s a society ruled by Eggman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For a much more minor echidna cameo, we see the return of Syntar, who hasn’t appeared since being unceremoniously knocked out by a time-traveling Lara-Su in StH #109.  Now a sergeant in Lien-Da’s army, he’s seen leading the Albion prisoners to be legionized... only to be unceremoniously knocked out yet again by Knuckles.  Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, I guess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also see Komi-Ko comforting Bimmy Jr., a young echidna orphan whose father and namesake was tragically killed in the Egg Grapes.  Back in 243 he was only referred to as “young man”, since the legal issues at the time forbade his real name from being mentioned.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another echidna character given a redesign by CrimDa is Crystal-La, the wife of Athair and Knuckles’ great-grandmother.  We decided to re-purpose her as the Mitre of the Albion Aurorium, in order to bring back of a glimpse of the religious aspects of echidna society that were largely ignored during Ian Flynn’s run of the comic.  Our initial redesign failed to take her significant age into account, so we made her look older in the final story.  Considering the fact that she considers her own great-grandson to be some sort of messiah, it’s easy to see that she’s gone a little kooky in her old age.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You may have noticed that Saffron Bee was also given a new wardrobe, which were actually based off of notes left by Aleah Baker for a redesign of her that was planned in the official comic  ShadImp felt strongly about giving her as big of a role in the rewrite as possible, as was the original intention.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
.
Tumblr media
Knuckles using his Warp Ring to attack Syntar was an idea from ShadImp’s co-writer for the remake, TuxKnux.  It was meant to demonstrate how Knuckles has had more practice controlling Chaos Energy, another example of which we’ll see later.
Tumblr media
In order to calm down a terrified Bimmy Jr., Saffron gives him her Nightopian Doll, which hasn’t been seen since all the way back in the Return to Angel Island arc.  Unfortunately, this ended up triggering her PTSD of the destruction of the Golden Hive Colony, as well as Charmy’s brain damage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This can easily be missed on a first read, but here is when we first see Julie-Su taking a cloak from a defeated Legionnaire, which ends up being important later.
Tumblr media
The cuffs binding Team Fighters and Remington were surprisingly difficult to draw, since we needed something that could hold them in place, but also free all of them instantly when deactivated.  In the end, electric shackles powered by a nearby generator seemed like the best solution.
Tumblr media
The mural behind Lien-Da, meant to reference the Forgotten Wars, originally had a different design that was scrapped because it didn’t make sense for such a picture to be in Albion.  It was also based off of a cutscene in Sonic Chronicles, during Imperator Ix’s final speech to Knuckles.  Eventually, the original mural design was re-purposed for Emerl’s data file in StHO #249.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the first time that Remington and Lien-Da have met since Enerjak’s rampage, so it was important to have the interactions between them be meaningful.  Remington may have suffered greatly during and after his time being the brainwashed Grandmaster of the Frost Legion, as well as being the son of Lien-Da’s hated brother Kragok, but he hasn’t allowed the trauma to diminish his strong sense of justice and has grown as a person because of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although hostages causing a panic among their captors is generally not considered a good idea, Tails dropping the bombshell (no pun intended) that Eggman could blow up the legionnaires at any moment does help upset Lien-Da’s control of the situation, proving instrumental to her defeat later.
Tumblr media
At this point in the story, Thrash hasn’t directly made his move yet, but the wheels are clearly in motion.  Originally ShadImp was going to have Thrash’s plan be identical to the official Endangered Species, sending all the echidnas away in a super-charged Warp Ring.  It took him a while to come up with a different plan, one that requires a sample of echidna DNA.  Incidentally, this is also Gae-Na’s only other appearance in the issue, as she was put on patrol duty after the initial battle with Team Fighters.
Tumblr media
The showdown between Knuckles and Metal Knuckles may be seen as disappointingly short, but ShadImp made clear that he prioritized meaningful storytelling over elongated fight scenes.  Plus, Knuckles serving only as the distraction while Saffron destroys the robot with a hijacked turret and Julie-Su sneaks off incognito does a good job showcasing that the Chaotix came into the fight much better prepared than Team Fighters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also worthy of note is the legionnaire’s dismissive attitude towards Komi-Ko and the other Albionites.  Since about half of the Legion gave up on fighting and accepted Enerjak’s offer to migrate to Albion, it stands to reason that the ones who chose to stay are the most fanatical and loyal to the Legion’s cause.
Tumblr media
Another minor echidna cameo is a younger Cobar, who was originally only seen in the 25 Years Later storyline.  At this point in time he’s still a member of the Legion, although his timid nature appears to be unchanged.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As well as demonstrating Remington’s character development, this scene does a good job showing that even the most loyal legionnaires are sick of the pointless wars they’ve fought in.  Lien-Da is the only truly evil person among all of them, and her grasp on them is crumbling rapidly.
Tumblr media
As was mentioned earlier, having the disguised Julie-Su destroy the generator powering the shackles was a quick and easy way to get Team Fighters back into the action, as well as converge the two plots occurring simultaneously in this issue.
Tumblr media
Having Wynmacher deal the final blow against Lien-Da was both an opportunity to give the non-combatant echidnas a chance to shine, as well as a callback to his very first appearance in Knuckles the Echidna #6, where he performed a similar tackle and mentioned his varsity days.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Riggo first penciled this panel, he had drawn Kneecaps as more the size of a toddler than an infant, which was corrected in the final story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This panel was originally going to feature some good old Sonic & Knuckles action, but ended up being only Knuckles using Thunder Arrow.  This is the other example of his improved mastery of Chaos Energy, as unlike the previous Guardians he doesn’t need to be within short range of the Master Emerald to use it.  It’s still not perfect though, as just using it once is shown to tire him out quite a bit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, we have Thrash making his grand entrance.  He was originally drawn with an entire pack of Devil Dogs around him, but it’s actually an important plot point that he only has two with him at the moment, so this was changed in the final version.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s it for this post, but unlike the other stories, this one was a revision of an even earlier rewrite, one that was started on and scrapped before ASO was even a thing.  Next time, we’ll be going BEHIND behind the scenes at ShadImp’s original Endangered Species remake!
Friendbound
Hello my loves! I just wanted to pop in here with a little note before you read this fiction. I had originally planned to make this a two part fiction to post on two different days in one week but then I realized that I’m not going to be able to do that just due to the fact I am so back logged with fiction ideas and stories to work on for Wattpad so I’ve done my best to try and make it a good one part read and maybe sometime in the future I will comeback to this idea and do a part two/sequel where the girls vacation. I also just want to say that I’ve lost my tag list for people who wanted to be tagged in this, so I am just going to have to hope you see this at this point aha. I am also going to address the fact that if you don’t see yourself being mentioned much in this fiction or having little dialogue, the reason for that is me not knowing your characters personality or pronouns and not wanting to portray or address them in the wrong way.
Anywho, I hope you all enjoy this fiction and if you have any constructive criticism that you feel I could take on board to apply into my future fiction writing please comment it and I will be sure to make a note of it as I will take it happily to improve upon my writing skills.
Much Love,
tyrilsnightbloom xoxo
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we are coming upon our decent, please buckle your seatbelts and follow all safety procedures told to you at the beginning of and during this flight. Once again we are coming upon our decent to JFK airport in New York City, New York. We hope you enjoyed your flight with us. Thank You for choosing America Air!" the pilot of the aircraft said as the flight descended from the air into the airport.
A few minutes later and the plane has safely landed and unloaded it’s passengers, all of them entering the bustling JFK airport to baggage claim to get their bags. Once they had collected their bags some people grouped together as they headed outside to look for someone holding a sign reading "Pixelberry Winners" chatting excitedly amongst themselves. "Where are they?" one of the young women asked looking around excitedly, "over there!" another exclaimed, and they grabbed their suitcases rushing over to the people holding their sign. "Names?" the man spoke with no tone. "Uh. I'm Kay" one girl said nervously, "Angela" the next said holding her hand up "And I'm Yuri" the last spoke as the man checked them off of the list and they stood over with another young woman to the side. "Hey" Angela smiled holding her hand out, "Hi... I'm Tia" the young woman said shyly as she shook Angela's hand. The 4 young women waited, by their car for the last 2 winners of the competition to arrive. Once they did they all piled into the waiting mini bus and were taken to the hotel they would be staying at. Shortly after that they had checked into the hotel they were in the restaurant, ordering their lunch before going to settle into their rooms, ready for the tour around New York the next day.
It was early the next morning and the fans had all gathered round a couch in the lobby of the hotel waiting for their tour guide. After about 25 minutes a smiley woman approached the group with someone who has very distinguishable purple hair with her “Hi! Are you guys the group of Pixelberry winners?” she asked cheerily, with a smile. They all nodded enthusiastically and jumped to their feet. The cheery lady introduced herself as the tour guide and led the girls to the mini bus, they would be taking round the city to see all of the sites from Bloodbound. The tour went smoothly, and the tour guide even brought the girls some street food from a vendor that is rumoured to be frequented by the BloodBound crew. Towards the end of their tour the main tour guide spoke up. “Now I’m sure y’all are excited to try and run into one of the vampires. And I’ve seen you looking at my apprentice weirdly all day today so… Jade… why don’t you reveal your true self to the people here today.” She beams as the woman with purple in her hair that has been on the tour all day too slowly takes off her disguise, revealing herself to be Lily Spencer, the fans gasping excitedly. “Hey guys! It’s been such a pleasure to meet you today and get to show you some of the sites we had the pleasure of visiting during our crazy journey. Now obviously I’ve stayed in the bus because it’s been daytime. But now that it’s dark out… Who wants to come to one of the coolest places in New York with me and meet the rest of the gang?!” she asks excitedly. “I’d love to but I’m tired and need to get some rest after today.” Morgan said with an apologetic look, Cassy agreeing with her and hopping back into the mini bus so they could be taken back to the hotel safely. Everyone else however excitedly agreed to go along with Lily, awe struck by her up close beauty and excited to meet everyone else. “I wonder what Amy is like in real life?” Yuri asked, “I hope she as much a gem as she is in the books and movies” Angela replied. “psshhhh. Forget that, I want to witness Jax’s abs. front row seat!” Tia exclaimed, Lily turning and smirking at her. “I like you already” she grinned, fangs poking out a little.
Soon they were arriving at the spot where Lily was taking them, “Yo Lilz!” a voice shouted out and she turned to the 4 fans who had come with her, “you ready?” she smiled, and they nodded nervously. Lily led them to the booth and sat down with a smile. “Who are these people?” Kamilah asked clenching her fist, ready to defend herself. “Kamilah relax. It’s 4 of the lucky 6” Lily said softly, placing a gentle hand over Kamilah’s. Not long after Adrian and Jax appeared holding trays of drinks, “Oh. We have company?” Adrian asked as he slid into the booth next to Amy, sliding his arm round her waist and kissing her temple gently. “ah! Cuutteeee.” Kay squealed, causing Adrian to blush lightly. Jax brought over 3 chairs and placed them round the table. “I could only find 3 spares.” He said as he placed the final chair. Tia was occupied on her phone, reading through something, and smiling. Jax turned to try and get her attention but froze and choked on his words, this caused Tia to snap her head towards the commotion, “are you okay?” she said with a worried arched brow, looking at Jax who nodded and took a few moments to compose himself. “I was going to say, you can take my seat if you want to. I could only find 3 spares and I don’t mind standing” he said, “Oh.. th-thank you. That’s incredibly kind of you” she blushed as she took the seat. “No worries” he smiled. Lily got to gossiping about the latest Fangbook drama. The fans sat talking quietly amongst themselves, “Anyway, I don’t believe we’ve been acquainted.” Adrian smiled at the fans, Lily started introducing them one by one. The fans waved and said one fact about themselves as Lily introduced them and soon they were conversing with the group laughing and having fun. It was a little later on and the chatter had died down and every one was either talking quietly in pairs or checking their phones. Tia looked over at the dance floor and got up heading towards it. “Wait for me! Amy come on!” Lily called out as she shot up from her seat at the table, grabbing Amy’s wrist and heading to the dance floor with Tia. Kamilah and Adrian stayed sat at the table chuckling at the 3 starting to dance and slowly the other 3 fans, Angela, Yuri, and Kay joined them, letting themselves loose and making the wildest of shapes with their bodies. At some point Tia was at the bar getting another drink when Jax walked up beside her. “Oh hey Jax! You okay?” she asked happily. “No.” he answered grumpily making her frown, “what’s wrong?” she pouted, and he suppressed a small smile creeping onto his features and looked at her, “I can’t figure out how you’re so beautiful” he replies, “Oh..” Tia blushed as she picked up her drink sipping on it to try and hide the blush a little. “That’s cute.” Jax commented quietly causing Tia to blush even more and her legs turned to jelly so she took a seat at the bar and Jax sat with her for a little while. Soon Tia made her way back to the dance floor and Jax followed her. Back in the booth Adrian and Kamilah were keeping a close eye on everyone, when 2 of the fans came back to the table with Amy. “Hey babe? I’m going to walk these two back to their hotel and then head home myself. You coming?” she asked Adrian, who emptied his glass and then smiled “Yeah, sure.” He gave Kamilah a hug and then left with Amy and the two fans, leaving Tia with Jax, Lily and Kamilah.
Later that night around 4:30am, The 4 left at the bar were ordering one more drink to have before leaving when there was a sudden smash across the bar from them, Jax stepped forward cautiously drawing his sword whilst Kamilah unsheathed her daggers, her stance matching Jax’s, whilst Lily stayed close to Tia, protecting her from anything that may come their way. Soon a man skidded across the floor and stopped nearby Tia’s feet. “Oh my god.” She gasped quietly and looked at Lily. Nobody knows what happened, but the next thing that everyone knew was a fight had broken out. “Lily! Get Tia to safety! If anything happens to her…” he trailed off as he fought off three men advancing toward him. Lily grabbed Tia’s hand and led her out of a back exit. “The safest place for you right now is your hotel room. Follow me” Lily spoke urgently as she took off into the night away from the club. “Lily!” Tia exclaimed as she tried to keep up with her as she parkoured through the streets of New York. Finally, out of breath Tia caught up with Lily in the hotel’s lobby at the elevators which pinged open and Lily pulled her inside. “Which floor?” she urged. “Four” Tia answered breathlessly. The elevator whirred taking them to the fourth floor, Tia swiped her rooms key card on the door, and they went inside. It was about an hour later and there was a knock on the door. Still awake Tia walked through the door and looked through the little spy hole, seeing a rattled looking Jax. She opened the door at the same time another door just a couple down from her room opened and Kamilah came creeping out. She smiled at Jax knowingly and went on her way, Jax stepping into Tia’s room. “Are you okay?” he asked. “I’m tired.” She replied and got back into bed. “Oh… yeah I forgot you’re…” he said feeling suddenly awkward. Soon there were more knocks on the door. “ugghhh.” Tia groaned. “I’ve got it.” Jax soothed and answered the door and was received with a bunch of squeals. “Omg I knew it was him at this door!” Kay exclaimed “Who’s room is this anyway?” Angela asked. “I believe it’s Tia’s” Yuri said trying to keep her cool. “So Jax. You interested in her?” Angela asked, the three waiting as they looked at him for an answer expectantly. “So what if I am?” he asked, “It’s cute when you try to be all broody.” Yuri commented. Jax shrugged it off, “So… can Tia, Lily or I help you 3 lovely ladies or….” Jax asked, letting the question linger. “Well we were actually going to ask if Tia wanted to sleep in with us. We’re doing a big slumber type party.” Kay smiled confidently. “You may have to come in here if you want to do that.” he whispered, hearing the change in Tia’s breathing. “She’s sleeping” he elaborated. The three girls nodded and went to grab their blankets and pillows, before returning to Tia’s room. “Right, I’ll leave you girls to it then.” He smiled politely, motioning to a now awake Lily to follow him and together they left going out into the night. “Goodnight girls. It was fun getting to know you today. I look forward to spending more time with you!” Kay whispered, not wanting to wake Tia. “Goodnight” Yuri and Angela whispered back as they laid down closing their eyes and falling asleep.
Over the next two days the fans hung out getting to know each other and following on each other so they could stay in contact after they leave New York. On their last day they were wondering the streets of New York when Kay spotted Lily and Adrian walk into a juice bar. “Let’s go in there.” She pointed and they all headed inside and waited in line behind Lily and Adrian. “So.. why are we here?” Yuri asked. Recognizing the voice, Lily spun round. “Oh my gosh! Hey, you guys!!” she exclaimed and hugged them all tightly. “Lily let the poor women breathe” Adrian chuckled as he moved forward in the line. Lily smiled brightly as she took her spot back next to Adrian. “How have you been? New York’s treating you well I hope?” he questioned “Yes, we’ve had so much fun!” Angela responded excitedly, “It’s sad we have to leave tomorrow.” Tia pouted and she put her phone away. “It’s your 4th day here already?!” Lily asked and Tia nodded “Man. Jax is going to be crushed…” she said defeatedly. “What?” Yuri asked curiously. “Jax has been…” she trailed off, looking at Adrian who looked at Tia with a tender look. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?” Tia asked as they moved forward. “Jax is a little lovesick. And it appears to be for you.” He said looking distant. “OOOOOOOOOOOO” the other girls said teasingly as Tia blushed. “Jax is in love with Tia! Jax is in love with Tia!” Angela and Kay teased causing Tia to blush. “well.. I… he is…” “Shut up! You like him too!” Yuri exclaimed. “Shhhhhhhh” Tia urged, blushing harder and clasping her hand over Yuri’s mouth. Adrian chuckled as he walked up to the juice bar and gave his order to the cashier. “What are you going to do?” Angela asked.
“What do you mean?” Tia asked back.
“Well are you going to see him before we leave?”
“What? No! he’s a busy man. He doesn’t need badgering by someone like me.”
“What?! Are you crazy girl!!! Give me your number and I’ll get him to text you.”
“Lily. Don’t trouble the poor girl.” Adrian chuckled slightly as he turned round from the counter. “What? Jax likes her and she likes Jax. Why not set the wheels in motion for a fantastic relationship?” Lily defended. “Lily.” Adrian warned, “Fine.” Lily sighed and turned around to help collect the juices before they said goodbye and set off.
Later that night, all the girls apart from Cassy and Morgan were gathered in Kay’s room, sharing pizza and their favourite fizzy soda. “So, are you really going to just leave Jax hanging?” Angela asked Tia, taking a bite from her pizza slice. Tia swallowed her bite and took a sip of her drink, doing her best to avoid the question. “Tia?” Kay asked causing her to sigh. “Yes. No. I don’t know. He’s a great guy but we leave in the morning.” Tia explained. “And? That doesn’t mean you can’t exchange social media ats or something and talk.” Yuri chimed in, “But I’m going to be thousands of miles away and he’s too cute to have a relationship from that far away.” Tia pouted as there was a knock at the door. “I’ve got it” Angela smiled and answered the door. “Amy!” she exclaimed and gave her a hug. “Hi! Can I come in?” Amy smiled back, “Yeah sure!” Angela chirped and stepped aside letting her in and closing the door behind her. “Ooooo. I smell pizza” Amy grinned hungrily. “Take a piece we have enough” Kay said happily. “Thank You” Amy said as she took a piece and sunk her teeth into it, “MMMMMMMMM, that’s SO good.” She mumbled as she chewed. The other 4 girls resuming to eat and sip their soda. “So… I came here to give you all something” Amy said, breaking the silence as she reached into her bag, pulling out necklaces with the girls initials on. “Awww Amyy” the girls all said happily as they gathered round Amy giving her a tight hug. Amy returned the hug and as they all pulled away there was another knock at the door, which Kay went and answered. “Yeah.. just a second.” She said quietly then came back the main living area of the hotel room, “It’s for you Tia.” She smiled as she returned to her seat. Tia got up and went to the door, surprised a little when she saw Jax standing there. She hadn’t expected to see him again before she left. Which is how she wanted it to be in a way, so it was easier for her to leave. “Jax.” She whispered after a long moment of silence of the two staring at each other. He smiled softly at her before speaking.
“I um… wanted to. No, needed to see you before you left.”
“But why?”
“Because as cringey and cheesey as this is. I’ve caught feelings for you. You’re beautiful Tia.”
“Jax.”
“No Tia please. Let me finish… As you know I mostly hate lovey dovey stuff. It makes me mad because I’ve never been able to know what it truly feels like to have it and wanting it has only caused pain when women have run away after finding out who I really am. But you know. You know who I truly am, and you still flirted with me the other night. You made me feel… normal. It’s a weird feeling being here confessing I like you when you’re leaving in a few hours, but I knew if I never told you then you’d be the one who got away. You probably will be anyway but at least this way I can get some sort of peace knowing that you know how I feel about you and… I can only hope you feel the same about me. I also wanted to give you something to remember me by. I went to a friend and got this fast-tracked to be custom made for you but um… I want to give you this.”
“Oh… Jax this is…” Tia gasped as she reached her hand out delicately taking the keychain from Jax’s hand. “It’s beautiful” she smiled softly
“It’s a Daisy. I chose it because of what it symbolizes.”
“What does it mean?”
“In general it symbolizes purity, innocence and loyal love.”
Tia smiles at the keychain before looking at Jax and giving him a hug. “This is really thoughtful. Thank you” she spoke into the crook of his neck. He returned the hug, squeezing tightly as if he never wanted to let go. Which he didn’t but he reluctantly parted from Tia and gave a small smile. “Could I come and wave you goodbye tomorrow?” He asked. “Of course.” She smiled in response. “Then good night beautiful.” He said leaving with yearning in his eyes. “Good night Jax.” Tia said softly, stepping back inside and shutting the door, going back to her seat in the main living area. “Tia has a boyfriend!” Yuri squealed as she entered the room, Tia smiled and blushed as she took her seat. For the rest of the night until Amy left and they went to bed the girls teased Tia about Jax occasionally and talked about business and stuff with Amy. Getting a feel of what life was really like for them as vampires in New York.
Early the next morning the girls were at the front desk of the hotel checking out when someone tapped on their shoulders. When they turned round they saw Kamilah who smiled at them brightly. “I’m sorry I haven’t been around much girls but I heard you leave in a few hours so I thought I’d swing by and take you to the airport and give you a copy of my book to take home with you as a parting gift.” The girls smiled and graciously accepted the lift to the airport and their gift from Kamilah. When they got to the airport they went through the standard procedure before settling in seats near their gates waiting for their departures to be announced. But before they broke off from each other they had one last group hug and promised to keep in contact with each other. Cassy, Morgan, and Kay were the first ones to have their departure flights called, followed a few minutes later by Angela’s flight being called. Tia was sitting at her gate reading through Kamilah’s book when someone cleared their throat making her jump and drop the book. “Darn. Now I’ve lost my page.” She cursed quietly as she picked it up. “Sorry bout that.” Jax chuckled as he sat next to her. The two got to talking whilst Tia waited for her flight to be called. They laughed and joked and eventually followed each other on Pictagram, agreeing to stay in contact. It felt sudden and too soon but Tia’s flight got called along with another and she stood up unwillingly and put her hand on the handle of her suitcase but Jax took it and wheeled it to the gate for her, giving her one final hug before she left. As she pulled away from the hug she pecked Jax’s cheek making him freeze for a moment before braking out into a smile. “See you later Tia.” He grinned as he turned and swaggered away. Before heading through her gate tunnel she spotted Yuri. “BYE YURI!! SPEAK TO YOU SOON” she shouted across with a wave and Yuri waved back with a matching wide smile and the two got onto their planes settling into their seats ready to touch back down at their hometowns. Wondering when they would all be able to meet like this again, but Jax was also on Tia’s mind as her plane took off down the runway and ascended into the sky. They may not know when but they did know that they would all have to meet up again soon and vacation together and make more amazing memories to last a lifetime.
