📽️ The Choice (2016)
Oh man do I love me a good Nicholas Sparks movie. This one is a classic Nicholas Sparks story, complete with the storyline that will make you cry. The two leads are so good, especially Benjamin Walker. He was perfect for this part. I’ve watched this movie more than once, and I know I’ll watch it again.
Sex/nudity: 2/10 (implied sex, making out, women in bikinis, men making comments on bikinis)
Language: 2/10 (fairly mild, especially for a PG-13 rating)
Violence: 2/10 (spoilers)
Overall rating: 7/10

The post below (with minor grammar edits) was submitted by Anonymous:
The actors were so insanely great in this series!
I was so impressed with so many new actors. Valerie Pettiford (Emily Mather) was simply incredible. Even though she was paired up with the GREAT Alex Kingston (Sarah Bishop), Valerie didn’t let Alex overpower her. They were so believable down to the tiny details of the spells and in interpersonal relations with other characters.
Agatha Wilson (as played by Tanya Moodie) was so strong yet could be so gentle too. Of course Theresa Palmer (Diana Bishop) and Matthew Goode (Matthew Clairmont) had such great chemistry. Watching Diana reluctantly grow into a powerful witch was perfect.
I have watched this show at least 5 times, even with all the other shows available. Well done to the producers and directors, and how they redid the screenplay into something even better than the terrific trilogy of books. That was just amazing.
Thanks to all who did this show. Although many would like more, it did complete the trilogy.

Allsoulstriogymusings’ response: Thanks for sharing your thoughts Anon! Sorry it took a while to respond to you, but I wanted to do a proper response, given your submission was a commentary on the entire series.
I very much appreciated your focusing in your comment on some of the supporting characters like Agatha, Emily and Sarah.
Tumblr media
I agree that Tanya, Valerie and Alex did a great job of portraying their characters, as did the entire cast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also agree that the show improved some subplots from the books.
**Book Spoiler**
For instance, I was happy that the show didn’t have Matthew kill off Gillian Chamberlain (Louise Brealey), unlike in the the first book. Gillian was an insecure young woman who betrayed Diana, but didn’t deserve to die for her betrayal.
Tumblr media
It also didn’t paint Matthew in the best light that he killed her. So the change in that subplot was (at least to this writer) a welcome one.
And of course, I agree with you that Theresa Palmer and Matthew Goode were magic together and truly brought Diana and Matthew to life on the screen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a wonderful series and one that I will miss. I do hope that they either do a spinoff or perhaps a TV movie follow-up. I can’t get enough of these characters. Hopefully, Deborah Harkness will keep writing about these characters.
___________
Thanks to Forever Dreaming for the transcript for the Emily and Sarah gifs.

What movies have you watch so far for Halloween watch
i'm planning on making an edit on the 31st of all the films i've watched during october, but here is my list so far (this include rewatches because i love me some rewatches)
The Exorcist (i saw this in theaters for the anniversary: and was totally worth it)
The Exorcist: Believer (wish i didn't see this)
Saw X (it's saying something when a saw movie has better writing)
Final Exam (this movie is so bad and boring but just watch the sequence where frat guys literally fake a school shooting for a prank! like wtf)
All Hallows Eve (I liked it because it had that low budget feel that im itching for; but wish they turned the lights down in the movie cause i had the worst migraine afterward)
Dawn of the Dead (the remake of course because i'm a poser and prefer the remake over the original)
Crimson Peak (i will never turn down the chance to rewatch this masterpiece)
Casper (i love casper, i officially adopt that ghost)
Nun 2 (better than the 1st is all I can say)
Totally Killer (highly recommend watching this! very enjoyable)
V/H/S/85 (not the strongest of the series but i say watch it anyway)
The Old Dark House (underrated James Whale movie! WATCH IT)
House of 1000 Corpses (hate me idc; i hate this movie; 2nd one is MUCH better: but sheri moon zombie is hot so ill watch it)
The Puppetman (great concept, so fricking boring though)
House by The Cemetery (great music, terrible dub, so boring)
All Hallows Eve 2 (better stories, terrible overall main villain)
Warm Bodies (it's bad looking back at it, but I was on my theresa palmer binge watching in 2013 so i forgive myself; i gave it four stars because it's nostagia and I can't rate it lower)
Home Movie (think of sinister and the visit mixed together)
The Last Matinee (i honestly thought this movie was a 80s movie; I was shocked to discover it's from 2020; watch it!)
The Boogeyman (watch this in the background of scrolling on your phone; horrendous writing)

The Windsor Beauties Set
A retexture by La Comtesse Zouboff — Original Mesh by @thejim07
The Windsor Beauties are a set of portrait paintings, still in the Royal Collection, by Sir Peter Lely and his workshop, produced in the early to mid-1660s, that depict ladies of the court of King Charles II, some of whom were his mistresses. The name stems from the location of the collection, which was at Windsor Castle.
Originally commissioned by Anne Hyde, Duchess of York, the first mention of the paintings is by Samuel Pepys, describing them in his diary as being hung in "the Duke of York's room" in 1668. A 1674 inventory lists them as in the ducal rooms at St. James Palace and by 1688 they had moved to the "Princess's dressing room" at Windsor Castle. Moved to the castle's state rooms during the 18th century, the Windsor Beauties were transferred to Hampton Court at some time prior to 1835.
They are considered the pinnacle of restoration art and are regarded as one of Lely's most exquisite work.
The set includes 13 portraits, with the original frame swatches, fully recolorable. The portraits are of:
Anne Digby, Countess of Sunderland
Anne Hyde, Duchess of York and Albany
Barbara Palmer, Ist Duchess of Cleveland and Countess of Castlemaine as Minerva
Barbara Palmer, Ist Duchess of Cleveland and Countess of Castlemaine as St. Catherine of Alexandria.
Elizabeth Bagot, Countess of Falmouth
Elizabeth Hamilton, Countess de Gramont as Saint Catherine
Elizabeth Wriothesley, Countess of Northumberland
Frances Theresa Stewart, duchess of Richmond and Lennox
Henrietta Anne of England, Duchess of Orléans
Henrietta Hyde, Countess of Rochester
Jane Needham, Lady Middleton
Margaret Brooke, Lady Denham
The Honourable Frances Brook, Lady Whitmore

Taron and Edward Holcroft hung out again today.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was hoping that when Holcroft's IMDB profile pic was updated it meant he would be coming out with a project soon. Doesn't appear that way.
Tumblr media
He seems firmly in his Ben Barnes era of making music.
I'm not saying Alex Pettyfer is a worse actor than Edward Holcroft, but I am saying that Alex Pettyer's foot and mouth disease ran through him and left people hating him so much that when I AM NUMBER FOUR (in which he played Number Four) came out on DVD, all the ads were focused on Number Six played by Theresa Palmer. Even with this Alex has never stopped working. You may have never seen these projects, you may have never even *heard* of them, but he does work.
And he just wrapped working with Guy Ritchie, so...who is his agent and can they take Edward on?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-One Edward Holcroft coworker who is working is Ben Whishaw whose PASSAGES, a love-triangle drama directed by Ira Sachs, will open Toronto's Inside Out film festival.
Tumblr media
Ben and costar Franz Rogowski
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On Thursday BAFTA will be holding a livestreamed discussion between Whishaw and Will Sharpe.
Do I have to watch THE WHITE LOTUS, Will?
Tumblr media
I get it, Sophia. I do.
Tumblr media
Ben will also (eventually) be seen in BAD BEHAVIOUR written and directed by Alice Englert (Starz' DANGEROUS LIASIONS) and starring Englert, Whishaw and Jennifer Connelly.

Oh fun questions! 🎬 If a movie or show were based on your fic, which fic would you choose and who would you fancast? also, who is the hardest to write for you?:D
Ohhhh gosh that is a HARD choice, but my first instinct was my girl Raoul/bisexual Christine fic, She Was Bound to Love You? I feel like it could make a good little miniseries, and it would make Andy Lloyd Webber SO MAD probably, which is a bonus. Plus plot wise it's one of the simplest to do, and it has super high drama (not that all of my fics don't ahahaha) which would be good for a show or movie. For my Christine I would want Meghan Picerno, probably, who was my favorite Christine that I ever saw. For Raoul it's a little tougher, because I picture a kind of Theresa Palmer-ish person in my head, but a younger version of her. For Erik my fave performer for him is Hugh Panaro, and so that would be my first choice!
There is a tough character in every fandom I every write for, I think! For Les Mis, it's usually Valjean? I feel like I've gotten a lot better handle on him in recent years, but trying to wrestle him into being happy is always kind of a Trial, and I'm always trying to write fics where he is. In Phantom it's Erik because ... idk, he's Erik, and he's frustrating. In Star Wars it's definitely Ahsoka, because I find her POV just difficult to pin down because she kind of changes a lot from show to show in SW world, and it just makes me ???? Much as I love Flint in Black Sails, I've also found him tough to get down on the page when I've written him, because his POV is SO layered, and it's hard to get him to like, talk to me??? He's just SUCH a intriguing character that I think I get nervous when writing him, too, like I won't do his simmering rage and grief justice.
