I feel like comic writers and some fans have forgotten that Young Justice is mostly about the girls. The main storylines were about Secret/Greta, Cissie, and Anita. The boys were there but they had their own runs. Take Young Justice Dark Crisis, yeah it's all about the boys IF you only read the first 5 ish comics. After that it's either big comic events or about the girls. Really the girls are the main characters of Young Justice, the boys are there to draw people in.

Sorry to bother you, but you seem to know a lot about the comics, and specifically about Tim Drake. I was wondering if you knew off the top of your head when Tim and Steph last canonically dated? Because I see people blaming Meghan Fitzmartin a lot, but I could've sworn that they last broke up before she became Tim's author.
So, the people 'blaming' Meghan Fitzmartin are correct—but I can understand some confusion happening because the breakup occurred off-panel. So like, if you weren't following things closely at the time these books were coming out, it might seem like the first Tim story Fitzmartin wrote was referencing a breakup that already happened somewhere else... but that is not the case.
The other possible confusion point would be that there was an earlier 'break up & get back together' storyline with them in the Rebirth era, a few years before she wrote Tim.
To briefly go over the Rebirth & onward Tim/Steph dating timeline just to clear things up (and I'll be using cover dates just for consistency, so if you want release date subtract two months):
Detective Comics #934-935 August 2016 [written by James Tynion IV] Tim & Steph are established to be dating in Rebirth continuity. We don't see the actual moment they start dating, we're just shown that this is now the situation.
Detective Comics #940 November 2016 [written by James Tynion IV] Tim is 'killed' (he's not really but everyone thinks he is, and he is out of the picture for a while) and thus that effectively pauses any relationship between he and Steph, obviously.
Detective Comics #969 January 2018 [written by James Tynion IV] Tim is back and reveals himself as alive to Steph, and the two of them resume their relationship. After a short timeskip, we then learn that in the aftermath of his return... Tim is not being honest with Steph about his plans (to not go to Ivy like he said he would, to instead continue hero-ing indefinitely).
Detective Comics #970 February 2018 [written by James Tynion IV] Tim & Steph start to have some tension here because of how he's overworking himself, how he's handling things with her, and there's a moment where she says she's leaving, he asks if she means 'The Belfrey, the team, or me?' and she says 'I'll get back to you on that.'
Detective Comics #974 April 2018 [written by James Tynion IV] In the aftermath of the team sort of exploding due to ~plot events~ Steph breaks up with Tim while he's throwing too much of himself into his work.
Detective Comics #981 July 2018 [written by James Tynion IV] More plot stuff happens (a whole big mess with Brother Eye) but once that's settled, the two reunite and rekindle their relationship as they head off ‘to Ivy University’ as they tell Bruce, but we know that’s not actually where they’re going.
Young Justice (2019) #5 July 2019 [written by Brian Michael Bendis] Flashbacks show us that after leaving Gotham, Tim & Steph had specifically gone to see the Justice League/Zatanna for help with timeline memory things rather than going to Ivy. Even though they’re in separate places at the main timeline of the book, this shows us that they're still together.
Young Justice (2019) #11-20 February 2020 - January 2021 [written by Brian Michael Bendis] Steph & Tim immediately try to get ahold of one another via text once Tim's back on the correct earth, and work on getting back in touch until eventually reuniting. They are shown together [and depicted as still dating] during the later parts of the book.
Dark Nights: Death Metal: The Last Stories of the DC Universe #1 February 2021 [written by Joshua Williamson, James Tynion IV, and Scott Synder] Shows the two of them together within the larger group of former Titans/YJ members—specifically one panel towards the end shows us Tim with his arm around her while they talk with others [fun fact that’s the panel my icon is from I just had edited Steph’s head out of the way]. As I recall/as far as I'm aware, this issue is the last time we see them interacting together/together as a couple before Future State and then the Infinite Frontier relaunch. [disclaimer that there could be like... a splash page group shot or something that I'm forgetting elsewhere during the Dark Nights: Death Metal event but like, that's not actual interaction that's just physically being present in the same group shot].
NON-CANON BUT RELEVANT: Future State: Robin Eternal #1-2 March - April 2021 [written by Meghan Fitzmartin] During the Future State event which was used largely to tease/set up plotlines for the Infinite Frontier relaunch, in this potential future Tim & Steph are seemingly no longer together but still on okay terms—teaming up in the story, but with clear tension and history there.
Batman: Urban Legends #4 August 2021 [written by Meghan Fitzmartin] We learn that Tim & Steph broke up off-panel before the events of the issue. Steph appears in the following issue further reiterating that they recently broke up.
So yeah! They broke up off-panel and this was first referenced in Batman: Urban Legends #4, thus under Fitzmartin's pen.

anita fite I miss you please come back to me. This is an empress appreciation post but also a DC complaint post.
dc set her up with the craziest storyline ever and just...didn't do anything with it?!? Like she is a teenage girl raising baby clones of her parents who she thought had died, and they just end the series and leave it there. We get like. One supergirl issue and that's it. WHAT HAPPENED? IS SHE OKAY? WHO IS HELPING HER RAISE THEM? SHE IS AN ORPHAN NOW LIKE CAN SOMEONE CHECK IN ON HER WHAT IS GOING ON?!?
also she's just so silly and so cute and so pretty and her friendship with cissie is so heartwarming and the girls night issue will always live in my head. side note dc please also bring my glorious queen cissie king-jones back while you're at it) and I weirdly enjoyed her weird side plot with lil lobo. I'm pretty sure she's the only main yj member to not even appear at least once in the show and although I'm not the biggest fan of it I feel like she deserves at least an episode like Greta. (WHO DC SHOULD ALSO BRING BACK)? Or a spot on the team at the very least like come onnnnn I need to see her more. She made such a perfect addition to the yj and was an absolute staple and it makes me so sad how the young justice is just like forgotten about considering how good the series is an how lovable and interesting the characters are.

I blame you for my new hyperfixation on DC. I now know all of the Robin's (Grayson and Tim are my favs) and am obsessing over Superboy (Kon-El). Now I have to read not only the Transformers comics, but also find out where to even start with what I want from DC. (No, but seriously, love your au and can't wait for more.)
MUAHAHAHAHAAHAHA WELCOME TO MY HELL (i don’t know why im laughing im suffering the same fate ;v;) but hey we can all be on the same sinking ship together! (Can I steer the life raft?)
Thank you tho! I still have. so many things to draw for this au, except I’m super budged for time atm so they’re on my backburner in the meantime… Grayson and Timbo as fav robin choices tho is so real (love them all, Damian and Grayson are my favs but TNBA Timbo takes the cake)
Comic + more info about getting into the TF comics and DC vvv
With the comics, I will say that I’m pretty sure the TF ones are generally easier to get into? The 3 main storylines most commonly read are IDW1, IDW2, or Skybound/ the Energon Universe, which all have their own reading guides. IDW1 can be pretty damn long tho so I don’t blame you if you want to skip and only read the MTMTE or Wreckers runs :P
For DC it’s uh… ok so they retcon stuff constantly, reset timelines, have multiverse shenanigans, and so many different runs happening all at once?? You can try and follow big separate eras/timelines like Rebirth, The New 52, etc? But yeah honestly it’d be easier to find specific runs that have your favourite characters/characterizations of those characters, and read those instead ;v; (I think Tim and Kon are pretty centric in the Young Justice comics? Never read it, so could be wrong- Grayson and Kon are very centric in the YJ animated show tho!) Or alternatively, there are non-mainline DC canon comics that are their own little contained stories/universes! They may only be one book or are shorter runs, so they’re much easier to get into.
[Non-main timeline DC Batman-centric comic runs I highly recommend: Batman: White Knight -> Murphyverse, The Boy Wonder (2024), Gotham Adventures -> DC Animated Universe tie-in (DCAU), Batman Adventures v2 -> DCAU tie-in, L’il Gotham]
Tbh I kinda grew up with the animated shows, movies, and games more? (Did a thing where I tried to watch every single Batman animated show lmao.. didn’t succeed) Most are their own separate timelines tho (minus the DCAU and DCAMU) so they’re pretty easy to follow!
[A couple I highly recommend: Batman the Animated Series & The New Batman Adventures (BTAS/TNBA, starting point to the entire DCAU), Young Justice!!!!, Teen Titans, the mainline Arkhamverse games, Justice League & Justice League Unlimited (JL/JLU, DCAU timeline), the Under the Red Hood Movie, Justice League Action (JLA), Batman the Brave and Bold, and uh… a couple of the DC Animated Movies Universe (DCAMU) movies were pretty good imo? (Also heard the new Superman show is really good? Haven’t seen it just yet tho :’)]

just read house of kent arc and. hmmm. many thoughts mixed feelings. its like... it was an overall pretty nice superfam story and the clois+jon parts in particular were solid and good, and i care them, but man. everything abt kon's storyline in there and them trying to figure out his whole deal just really got used as a framing device and not an actual plotline... which i mean i kind of expected bc hes not the main character but at the same time the way its just entirely sorta handwaved as "oh well no answers but its cool!" is kinda frustrating. but of course that does come with the caveat that i generally just do not like rebirth kon's setup and storyline.
i just cant fucking get over this sentiment kon expresses outright here... clark is trying but jesus the situation is so existentially fucked up. hey man your grandparents remember you but no one else you knew including the rest of the supers does bc you never existed here. also we randomly threw in some stuff about how you might lose all your powers for some reason? but anyway at least youve got the farm buddy :)
Tumblr media
(it's also frustrating re: kon's arc and general situation bc bendis is just not very consistent w explaining it. cassie remembers yj existing somehow, ma and pa remember kon when they see him, but clark never does. this is explained as him having memory issues bc of having universe-jumped so much, but if that was actually the case then youd think the random people in yj19 who kon meets, like the security worker who asks if he's jon, would also recognize him like ma and pa did. and then there's the way tim and steph supposedly have magically repressed memories, only steph's never return the way tim's do, but it's never brought up again? and tim only recovers these memories when zatanna gets around the block in his head but we just never find out what put that there to begin with, nor do we ever discuss any narrative impact of it so its kind of like well what was the point ...? why establish tim having this when cassie doesn't??? is it just to explain the previous tim line about conner's name "tugging on his heart" without having to bother saying anything similar about cassie and simply brushing her aside there to focus on tim's memories??? idk. there is just so little consistency around any of this. which i knew going in but also GOD. comics im on my knees im begging)

Meet the Mods: Shelby!
Pronouns: they/them
Introduce yourself!
Hi friends! I'm the Babs of the team and I'm excited to be back for our 5th year (ahhh!!!!)
Your favorite part of big bangs?
Truly it feels kind of like summer camp. You get to see old friends & make new ones, chatting & working together for a few months out of the year.
How long have you been into dc/batfam?
YJ turned me into a Robin stan, & 2004 The Batman had me falling in love more broadly. This year is bbb's 5th birthday, & that's how long I've been obsessed.
What got you into the batfam specifically?
I truly was not a batfam-specific person until running this bang. I'd pick a broader YJ fic every time until a few years ago; now I'm batfam or bust.
What's a storyline you would love to see adapted for a movie, tv show, or something else?
Not to be a Dick Grayson stan on main, but I'm so desperate for Battison to encounter the world's most annoying (affectionate) 8-yo and be forced to consider the greater implications of fatherhood. I'm begging DC
Which batfam member do you relate to the most?
I project on Dick to an insane degree, but five years of running this event means that I identify with Babs in the exact same way your friend group assigns characters from the series you read at 12 and it defines your personality.
What’s your favorite dynamic?
Really into Dick as a feral older brother right now. If anyone has fic recs pls drop them in the replies I am STARVING
Do you have any favorite fanworks?
Recently I read redemption arc, and I'm obsessed. God tier time travel fix-it.
Do you know what you want to do for this year's big bang, if you're participating as a writer?
I have two ideas! We'll just have to see which I land on~~

jae jun ending is harsh ??? he was the least problematic
Hey <3 Oooo, I appreciate your opinion ... but I beg to differ. Spoilers ahead: 1. For most bullying scenes, JJ was merely a bystander who observed the violence around him and chose to ignore/protect the perpetrators. As such, he was 'blind' in terms of not seeing/choosing not to see what was around him + he lacked perception/good judgement by helping them cover it up.
I think this is further evident in his relationship with the store clerk. Other than Ye-sol, sometimes YJ + Se-ra ... the only other person he spoke to somewhat 'kindly' (I'm using the word kindly loosely lol) was the store clerk ... yet, the possibility of him knowing about her s exual assault is high ... and he chose to do nothing. He was once again a mere bystander.
I also think that he was ‘blind’ on a friendship level. He was surprised by Ye-sol being his child + YJ hiding it from him … considering they shared everything … to the point that he didn’t even consider it a possibility till DE. Thus, he was blinded by his trust in YJ. He was also blindsided by Myeong-oh standing up against him + robbing him + the fact that se-ra would sleep with Myeong-oh = JJ being blinded by his social status.
DE had given the group a chance to get the easy way out ...both knowingly (aka YJ) and unknowingly (JJ). Here, JJ was given a lifeline with Ye-sol and for the first time ... he was no longer a bystander ... he stood up for what was right. He was also given a chance to redeem himself by doing right by So-hee after finding out she was pregnant with his child and killed by YJ + doing right by Ye-sol by understanding her relationship with DY. However, in these cases, he was once again blinded by his love for Ye-sol ... resulting in him making the wrong choices - using Ye-sol as a bargaining chip to protect YJ + assaulting DY and DE.
I found it extremely satisfactory that HJ had a role to play in blinding him. She tried her best to appear perfect for him, yet he was blinded bc of her status and probs the fact that she tried to hard. Hence, treating her as disposable + constantly mocking her. She probs presumed he turned a new leaf with him standing up for her + proposing to her … she thought he had finally seen her. But nope, he chose to taunt her when she needed him the most.
Given these storylines, I interpreted DE asking JJ “how do you know what’s colourful” … as a play on his colorblindness and the fact that he lacks good judgement/is a bystander/ability to see beyond his own beliefs. So, JJ literally losing his eyesight wraps up his story perfectly - now he is blind by force rather than choice. 2. With regard to losing his life ... it made the most sense. He has been fighting for custody of Ye-sol against DY - its his main character arc. DY would have never known peace bc JJ would continuously come after them. Plus, the role DE played in blinding JJ helped DY k-word JJ ... hence, it can also be seen as DE's thank to DY for always being kind to her.
Taking him away from Ye-sol and his chance to have a family was also another point of revenge. Throughout the show we see how much he craves a home and family ... so this defo hit hard.
(Side note: do you guys think the hurt So-hee? that part came across a bit open-ended ... like why didn't So-hee use this relationship to irk YJ? Maybe she knew that it would not matter bc YJ did not love him? Idk ... but that whole scene where they found out he is the father makes me think he could have hurt her)

having finished my unintentional yellowjackets s2 rewatch, i have some thoughts:
while i still agree that it wasn't as good as the first season, on a rewatch i have a more positive view of the second season's structure: the parallels of the development of the hunt in the wilderness and its repetition in the present day is quite a clear narrative arc in both times, and the character work done in this season sets up s3 nicely
i also have a more positive view of the supernatural elements (or, as my dad calls it, the "mumbo jumbo") - it's becoming increasingly clear that Shauna's statement that "It was just us" is a thesis of the entire show, with 'It' as something invented by the girls to distance themselves from the awful things they do in the wilderness. while the first time i watched s2 i started to wonder if the supernatural elements were real, i'm now pretty sure they're only narrative devices/inventions (especially in the present day)
Crystal is for sure real. like idk why i let yj tumblr convince me she was a figment of Misty's imagination bc she is quite clearly real. her first scene is with Mari, with Misty not even present, and there are several occasions after her death when the other yellowjackets talk about her separately from Misty. i also think 1) the Misty/Crystal storyline is far more effective that way than if she was imaginary and 2) you guys are maybe giving the writers too much credit lol
i noticed a lot more about present-day Van this time around: particularly how susceptible she still is to lottie's delusions. i can see her playing a much bigger role in the next series, especially as the Shauna/Adam Martin/blackmail storyline is pretty wrapped up and Natalie is dead
i like Walter!!!! i don't get why everyone is hating on him. Misty needed someone to develop her character against (Shauna has her family, Tai has her family and Van, Nat has Lisa, Lottie has her own delusions) and Walter is a nice match. i look forward to her inevitably having to choose between him and the Yellowjackets and choosing her team
Nat's death made a lot more sense to me the second time around. idk if i just wasn't paying attention the first time (?) but i missed the parallels between Nat and Javi in the wilderness and Nat and Lisa in the present day, both innocents that she goes out of her way to protect. her guilt over Javi's death (in her place) fuels her sacrificing herself for Lisa; also the obvious parallels between Misty accidentally killing both Crystal and Nat
This isn't really a point but i found it super interesting how Misty refused to let the others eat Crystal (even though they were starving and it would have saved them!) and yet was the main instigator of the hunt (convincing the others that it was Lottie's idea, stopping Nat from saving Javi)... i just love her ok she's so juicy

Are you cool with giving recommendations? If so, what are some good comics for Bart if i really want to read a lot about him? I know about Impulse and the YJ 90's comics but i'm not sure which other storylines have him as a main player in the story.
K I'm on mobile so I'm not sure if that link works but here's my Bart reading list ^
Honestly if you just want a quick read that's Bart centric you really can't go wrong with just reading a Waid run era Flash arc. Dead Heat, Chain Lightning, Terminal Velocity, ect. Wally and Linda are the main characters but Bart is still a key player (and very well written). This is early years Bart though so just keep that in mind.
Other than that? The Flash: Rebirth and Kid Flash Lost. Both are mini series and both star Bart as a main character. (Although they aren't really character driven stories. These are status quo change stories so keep that in mind)
Other than that I'd say keep your eyes peeled for the One Minute War arc when it comes out.
(Note: Do not read Bart's Flash run. Its painful, it gets the lore incredibly wrong, and it's just not a good story? If I remember correctly it was cancelled after 13 issues)

Leila Wayne-al Ghūl
Layla - Derek and the Dominos
um…duh? really though, i find that this song plays through her love interests’ heads. whether its wally or roy or some other redhead
Who Is She ? - I Monster
ooooh she wears so many masks. the mysterious assassin and vigilante of gotham are her main ones, which i feel leads the song so well. but there is this drop in the song at “somewhere across the sea of time” where i like to imagine her entire life pass by and all those different masks. from her as a child training with the league, to an assassin, her as batgirl, demonspawn, a student, the ghoul rebrand, a billionaire’s daughter, party girl, the wayne enterprises exec, galas, the ceo as her hair greys and when the song ends on “immortal she, return to me” i see her as old, wearing green robes with her family sword and leading the league of shadows after a lifetime of fighting them
Safari - The Breeders
this specifically i relate to arkham knight jason todd and their sibling bond, her mourning him while he’s planning on destroying her city and getting back at bruce. but he still longs to see her again and misses her and he’s ashamed of himself. he wonders if he could follow through once he sees his sister again. if she would even accept him—love him—knowing what he planned to do.
Lights Out - Mindless Self Indulgence
disclaimer: yes he very much is a POS we do not support him. anyways i think this captures leila’s more brutal side, and leila is not a batbrat! she tries to follow bruce’s rules, but she was still raised by assassins for some time and still agrees with their ways to a degree. but she builds a reputation as a vigilante, and foes fear her greatly because she carries deadlier weapons and causes more damage and pain. she just calculates much more carefully. bruce doesn’t like that she thinks she can be the judge and jury, but she refrains from being the executioner for his comfort.
Pa Pa Power - Dead Man’s Bones
this is such a gotham ass song it almost doesn’t belong here but i relate leila with gotham so heavily compared to my other OCs. only time she’s not a gothamite is in the YJ timeline but other than that shes a gotham girly. i like thinking of arkham knight!leila and the gotham evac here, so a bit of jason and also bruce and dick and tim and barbara but imagine the streets burning from below where riots prevail and shes stuck on saving the city and her family from certain doom. NOW IMAGINE THE DLC WITH RA’S AND NYSSA AND IT BEING HER CHOICE look it up that game is a masterpiece.
Me and the Devil - Soap&Skin
leila has a lot of ethical dilemmas. of course she returns to the league several times. she’s the oldest grandchild, if not the only child in some storylines. and ra’s sees her potential despite his reluctance to let a woman take over. he wants her on his side. he’s ashamed that she’s turned her back on them and taken up with the scum of gotham, but when she returns to the league she is treated like royalty and it feels so wrong to her. being beside ra’s is painful for her, but sometimes she needs to prove to herself that she made the right decision protecting gotham and in some cases, the world. building a reputation with the assassins does help her in the long run.
Cities In Dust - Siouxsie and the Banshees
gotham vs shadows thats all i will say
She’s Lost Control - Joy Division
leila has a weakness that comes from her brush with death—the lasting effects of the lazarus pit. i think this song captures the feeling of her mind slipping when she starts to experience her episodes. confused, manic, unpredictable. shes lost control (again)
[leila]

for the character ask game: any assortment of 7, 14, 15 for Eri and 13, 13 and 30 for Dokamon? (appmon)
ERI AND DOKA-CHAN! Oooh, interesting! For reference, the ask game is here.
Eri:
7. A quote of them that you remember
HMMM, not so much a quote, but imo the most memorable Eri moment of the series was her giving a righteous, impassioned speech to YJ-14 on Haru's behalf and then proceeding to fight him with explosive... kicks. AFTER AN ENTIRE SERIES, when the chips are down... it turns out she's a kicker, not a puncher. Amazing XD Say hello to my little friends: Common Sense and Reasonable Discourse!
Tumblr media
14. Best storyline they had
I will always love that they stopped the show for two whole episodes to give us the Appliyama election and results, and I will never shut up about Eri being such a badass on Knight's yacht. It was all just really fun. Even though the show never addresses the unhealthy ways in which Eri pushes herself, I do like how this arc gave us probably the most it ever has of Eri's authentic, non-idol self: her code of honor, her grace after falling just short of her goal, her trust in her friends, her unwavering dedication and strength, both in body and spirit.
15. Worst storyline they had
It would be easy to pick her showdown with Beautymon, but I'm not going to do that. I think it had the makings of something interesting; if the focus hadn't been solely on physical appearance, but more about losing yourself to popularity, manipulating the masses, or the impossible standards of influencer/idol culture. No, instead I'm going to pick her intro episode, because it felt like such a baffling way to introduce us to her. She just... does not come off as sympathetic or likable in the slightest to me. Episode 6 is a much more enjoyable episode and gives us a bit more interesting character material to work with, but my first time through the series as I was still trying to decide if Appmon was worth watching, neither Eri or Astora made the best first impression. I really do love her though!
Dokamon:
13. Your favorite friendship they have
This is such an interesting question, because I'm struggling to recall if he even has meaningful relationships with most characters, besides Eri, Mariperi, and Gatchmon (and even then, those relationships are all pretty unbalanced). He'll do anything for Eri (or to get Eri to notice him). He certainly developed feelings for Mariperi, and Gatchmon is his "aniki"... but most of the time, Eri exists firmly in the center of her own universe, Mariperi appreciated the time he spent with her but basically rejects him, and I seem to recall instances where Gatchmon enjoys Dokamon looking up to him and agreeing with him, but is any of that what you could call a mutual friendship?
His relationships outside of those three, to my recollection, are almost non-existent. Regardless of whether Eri and Astora are in "bite each others head off" or "we're more similar than different" mode, does Dokamon ever have much to say to Musimon? I'm not sure he's even that close with Eri's other Appmon, even the ones he fuses with... iirc, they make a pretty dysfunctional team in the Appmon Games. The situations where he does interact with other characters, I think it's almost exclusively on behalf of Eri (i.e. doing whatever he thinks she wants), and it's often antagonistic in nature. "Don't get in Eri's way!", "Listen to Eri!", etc. I think Offmon looks up to him and he certainly worries about Offmon, but that feels more like a sibling relationship than a friendship.
Off the top of my head, I do think the only 'mons he would acknowledge as friends might be Gatchmon and Musimon. I do like the episode where they all run away together and end up helping that kid. I think that's the closest we see of Dokamon hanging out with those he considers his equals, and it did result in some great moments with the three "main" partner Appmon. But it's also possible I'm overlooking some more obvious friendship moments, and if so, I apologize Doka-chan! T^T
30. The funniest scene they had?
All that said (and it might sound like I'm negging on Dokamon through all of this, but I'm not!), my favorite Dokamon moments are when he's comedy relief... specifically, the instances where the joke is that he's too... well... stubborn and/or oblivious to care about whatever the MotW's silly shenanigans are. I'm thinking about Episode 14 (Puzzlemon), where his solution to being trapped in a room with giant heavy marbles is just to start punching them indiscriminately, physics-based repercussions be damned (Dokamon, NO!). And when Calcmon is depowering everyone using the power of math, Dokamon gets so angry that it just doesn't matter what numbers are coming up on Calcmon's screen; Dokamon's gonna punch that creepy nerd, and it's gonna hurt, full stop. Is it that he's not, strictly speaking, the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree? Is he so blindly optimistic in his own abilities? Or is he 100% loyal and willing to throw down for Eri to such a fault that it turns around and becomes an asset again? Maybe all of the above, and I kind of love him for that.
These were all interesting questions to think about, thank you!

Some days ago you wrote a post saying that you were writing something using elder scrolls lore? I think? What's that about? Are you writing some au? I'm a bit lost on your most recent fanfics (I'm waiting until I have some free time so I can give nexus a try, I'm just a bit intimidated cause I know next to nothing about DC) but I love reading about your ideas and characters, they all sound so genuinely interesting and we'll writen.
Ohhhh yes, okay so!
Wayyyyyyyy back in the day, there were a bunch of Riddler ask/art/rp blogs, that all portrayed their respective Riddler in very different ways. Some were based on official material (YJ is from the 2011 Young Justice animated series, Arkham from the Arkham City video game, Detective was originally based off the 1992 Batman: the Animated Series, but became highly altered as their storyline continued) some, like Narci, Puzzles, and Nash, were original takes on the character. Swag stared out as a parody that became a solid character as time passed. All of these interacted with each other, and developed into a found family.
Helix (My OC) came along a little later, and began interacting with them. None of us really expected how inextricably involved she was going to become, since she's much more of a high fantasy character, than a DC character, but it all happened pretty organically, and was a lot of fun.
Back then, I started a bunch of creative projects I wanted to share with the writers of these blogs, but I had just ended my relationship with my ex-fiancee, moved back in with my parents, and was working in a pretty toxic environment, and it just slaughtered my creative output. If I were to point you to my old blog, which I shan't, you would see that I drew maybe five or six things in as many years, when previously, I had drawn almost every day.
All of those blogs eventually went silent, the last interaction being between Helix and Narci. Since then, some of them have even been deleted entirely. I forgot about the things I was going to do, and they lay ignored for years. Then I stumbled across my old harddrive, where all these ideas still existed, barely sketched out, partially begun, and it all flooded back. Yeah, those blogs are done, some of the writers have disappeared, it's all over. But those stories are still there, and so am I.
I am in a much better place than I was. I have some writing practice under my belt, and, most importantly, I have inspiration again. I can make the art I always wanted to. I can write the stories I always wanted to. I can finish what I wanted to start.
That all being said, One of the things I started a long time ago, was an elder scrolls crossover. I had also started playing Skyrim at around that time, and it was an idle idea that I thought would be fun. When I found that harddrive, the first chapter had been partially written out, and I ended up taking the ideas there, and going in a different direction with them. I now have an over thirty chapter, ongoing story involving Helix and Swag stumbling their way through Cyrodiil, told entirely through Swag's POV. I've been posting it on my main/RP blog rather than here, because I felt that Helix and Swag's relationship hadn't been well enough expressed in the Nexusverse yet. Almost all of the Nexus stories so far take place in 2011-2013, and this crossover story takes place in 2020, so there's a lot in between that I haven't gone into yet, you know?
But considering that I've been posting some of the later Nexus stories out of chronological order, I might just start posting it anyway. I think it's kinda obvious by now how some of Helix's relationships pan out, so it might be okay. What do you think?
Also, you are very sweet, and I'm glad I've been able to express some of my ideas in a way that others can enjoy them with me. I will warn you, the stories that are from Helix's POV can be a bit challenging to follow; she doesn't experience reality in the same way as most people, which I've expressed with synesthesia and the repetition of consonants, syllables, and vowel sounds in a freeform poem/prose manner. If you do start the Nexus stories at their beginning, you'll see why.
Don't be too intimidated though; most Nexus stories are only 1-2000 words, with the exception of Orbital Unresonanace, which is, admittedly, a chonker. But you've been reading Lasa, so I know you can handle unreasonably large stories.

Since you answer comic questions sometimes do you know when Kon’s rebirth return happens? Is it JUST in the Young Justice series or was there buildup somewhere in the Superman titles? I can’t seem to find an answer :/
It's for the most part just in Young Justice (2019) unfortunately, but there are a few initial traces/teases that come up a little bit earlier:
During the Lonely Place of Living plotline [Detective Comics #965-968] main continuity Tim had been displaced outside of time for a while, and as he escapes the place he'd been kept he runs into Titans Tomorrow Batman!Tim Drake [from a few pre-New 52 Teen Titans stories]. This version of Tim mentions Conner to main continuity Tim (who doesn't know Kon), which eventually leads to the infamous 'He talked about a friend that I should have... Someone named Conner... and I feel that name tugging on my heart, but I don't know why' line. This is, as far as I'm aware, the first real reference [that isn't just a sight gag/visual cameo like the poster in Jon's room or variant covers] to the concept of Kon in the Rebirth era. This encounter with Titans Tomorrow Batman!Tim is also directly related to/part of what led to Tim seeking out information about the timelines/what led to the events of Young Justice 2019.
During the Super Sons of Tomorrow plotline [Superman Vol. 4 #37, Super Sons Vol. 1 #11, Teen Titans Vol. 6 #15, Superman Vol. 4 #38, and Super Sons Vol. 1 #12] we see the return of not only the Titans Tomorrow version of Batman!Tim Drake from LPoL, but we also then see the return of the Titans Tomorrow versions of Cassie, Bart, and Kon (as Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Superman respectively). When Clark briefly talks to this version of Kon, Kon says that 'You don't know me yet' and they sort of leave it at that. But this further brings the concept of Kon back into things.
Also, kinda related, when Bart was brought back due to events in the Flash comics, he first appears in Flash Vol. 5 #50 just for the final page but then gets some elaboration in Flash Vol. 5 Annual 2—and we see him (while trying to find anyone he recognizes) go to Titans Tower and call out for 'Conner! Tim! Cassie!' thus further hinting at the YJ kids getting reunited.
Hope that helps a little bit! Also it's obviously not build up to it but after the stuff in Young Justice, Kon does get some interactions with Superman/other Supers in the House of Kent storyline [Action Comics #1022-1028]!

yj finale thoughts (spoilers)
i think the 1996 storyline is the strongest and most compelling, so i don't have much to say on that front. what few complaints i do have there (treatment of poc) have already been articulated by people much smarter than me. so this is mostly gonna be a complaint post about the 2021 storyline
van is all over the place, and i find it so tiring. first she thinks the cult stuff is all bullshit. 24 hours later, she's talking tai into calling off the crisis team that lottie clearly fucking needs. like, actually, you can take responsibility for what you all did to lottie when you were girls, and get her professional help. what happened to van urging tai to get professional help before this??? i know the writers didn't originally plan for adult van but this feels really sloppy.
can the narrative please pretend to care about tai's family for longer than two seconds? jesus fuck.
i hate the entire adam martin plot, i kind of hate walter, i hate the cops, and i hate that officer pedostache didn't die.
i appreciate the tragedy of misty killing the one person she's devoted herself to the most, and i appreciate having the guts to kill off a main character instead of someone we know less like lisa... but i'm SO tired of characters killing people by accident or neglect this season. i want INTENT!!!! why is WALTER doing more actual murdering this season than the YELLOWJACKETS
i don't think natalie dying is a total asspull, but i hate that it happens alongside the antler queen reveal. i would've liked to sit with that revelation for longer (several episodes at least, into the next season) before any of the adults died.
unfulfilled wish list:
i wanted callie to kill the creepy cop and have jeff help her hide the body in the woods or something. then they come across the yellowjackets drawing cards. lottie's desire for a hunt is sated because "the wilderness chose" (brought them a fresh kill) so they roast the cop over the fire instead. then maybe someone like walter walks up on the scene. they attempt and fail to kill him, he gets away, consequences endure into season 3.
i wanted misty to kill walter so bad. by all means i should like his character but i HATE HATE HATE the trope where a character gets a straight love interest who's exactly like them, only the "opposite" sex. so i think he should die. but now i think misty would break down if she were responsible for the death of another person she cares about, so i wouldn't even be able to enjoy it 🙄

hiiii i like sending u asks so whos ur top three yj characters and why??
this might be the hardest question im gonna answer in my entire life.. *proceeds to respond with the longest word vomit ever known to mankind*
1.) i am a certified lottie matthews gurlie : )) she's just been such an interesting character throughout the series like i never really know what's going on with her (im pretty sure pookie doesn't either even if she insists she does lol.. istg every lottie scene is just me being absolutely flabbergasted and in a constant state of “WTF?”) and i know they all experienced varying degrees of trauma (i dont wanna turn this into a competition of who's had it the hardest pre and post crash) but i think lottie's character has one of the most tragic storyline, esp her life post-crash
2.) RESIDENT COLD GIRL JACKIE TAYLOR! this gurl was serving nothing but iconic vibes and lesbian comphet behavior and i am here for it. i was honestly surprised to learn that a lot of ppl dont like jackie cause she was a bit of a spoiled brat and while i do agree (cz she is LMFAO pooks literally died of pettiness) i feel like it's not necessary to paint her as either black or white cause she's also got a really complex character. like sure she has her mean girl moments (mostly because of the environment she was raised in and i think she wasn't really aware of that trait until shauna brought it up during their fight) but she's rarely ever malicious and i think she would've outgrown that trait given the chance. but also it could just be because im a sucker for mean-girl-highschool-queen-bee characters making me a huge jackie taylor apologist !
3.) misty quigley. no words of appreciation for her—maybe her (tho unplaced and is often expressed in the wrong ways)—loyalty and dependability, still tho she was literally just straight up batshit insane.. she killed 2 people (??), is responsible for them being trapped in the wilderness, and honestly speaking needs to be admitted to the ward cause that girl is psychotic but adult misty was so funny, she immediately became a fav.
ALSO must insert the yj background characters, i dont know their names i only know akilah and mari, but i love those girls so much season 2 was absolutely unhinged cause the mains are going through a horror show and these bitches r in the background like it's a mf camping trip playing cards and are like “.. oof bestie 👀 would you look at that? it's snowing pretty hard bet it's freezing cold out there 👀 ngl itd be nice to have a lottie mat-stew right now 🤤 but i do hope she gets home safely 😥... just.. you know hahah... if she ever happens to.. yk 🥰”

Bruce as a father across the multiverse 🔥
I'm going to put aside Bruce's that don't get children (which are. most of the ones coming to mind rn ngl xD), even if I think I could make a compelling argument for a few of those being primed to be better parents than comics!Bruce -like gotham!Bruce or nolanverse!Bruce lol.
honestly, other than those from animated versions, like yj!Bruce or gotham knights(cw)!Bruce (we don't see him that much because the show is NOT a batman show, but both him and the kids around seem more well-adjusted xD), or dcau!Bruce which I haven't seen in a long time but was overall alright, from what I remember... my mind is focused on the different versions of Bruce we see in the main continuity. aka the one whose fatherhood we see been explored.
first, there's pre-crisis/earth-one!Bruce. I'm less familiar with Bruce, especially with that particular Bruce-Dick dynamic (though what I've seen is complex and less defined than father-and-son. they call each other partners, brothers, and yes, they have a discussion about the more parental aspects of their relationship while Bruce is in a custody battle with earth-one!Jason). but I have read everything there is to this version of Jason and Bruce and it's... well, the most properly fatherly we ever see Bruce, probably? it's sweet. it's hardly perfect or straightforward (this Jason already served as a counterpoint to Bruce, in a much calmer way), and it could be easy to point out questionable aspects, I'm sure -but maybe because I inevitably compare it to the other versions, he comes out shining xD. he's incredibly flaky with women though, I don't know why they put up with him lol.
then there's post-crisis/new earth!Bruce. now this is the bitch I'm most familiar with xDD. and honestly, yeah, I would call him a shitty father figure. increasingly worsening with time, with things taking a nosedive after Jason's death, but he also pulled Some Shit with Dick or Jason (although with the later he apologised and recognised his mistakes once!!! woah).
what I will say for new earth!Bruce is that the concept of BatfamilyTM, while present, was much less conventional than it is right now. while I wouldn't defend any of the shit he pulled, I can acknowledge it was written with more attention to characterization, to the dynamics involved, and in a less... simplified and stereotypical way, iykwim? the ways new earth!Bruce screws up as a father/authority figure feel like they are meant to inform the character, at least most of the time. I feel like I'm watching a deeply troubled man stuck in his childhood trauma who arguably should never have taken a caretaker role over fellow troubled kids, who acts in controlling and damaging ways because of his own issues and might need to hit rock bottom before he could even think to really do better. but there's a sense that all this is in sync with the story, with the path it and his character follows, iykwim.
then there's post-reboot/prime earth!Bruce. current Bruce. mister "I'll beat Dick into submission to accept an incredibly dangerous job after he's already going through the worst time of his life". mister "I'll beat up Jason so badly he won't be able to hold a gun without his hand trembling a month later". mister "I'll brainwash my son and leave him defenseless because he once made choices I disagreed with and he might do them again". mister "I'll never face any consequences for this for longer than 5 pages, if that, and nothing will change no matter what."
the thing about this one is that he suffers the flaws inherent to prime earth: objectively worse writing that veers towards conventionality (if you try to push a more conventional father-kids view of the Batfamily, Bruce's abusive actions read much, much worse), and chronic inhability to commit to anything which leaves writers scrambling to return to a more comfortable status quo, while recycling storylines in a way that makes this come accross as a consistent, undeniable pattern. that, plus the framing of these actions (gotham war pending, but I'm not getting my hopes up) as Bruce-the-stern-Patriarch who must control these unruly kids is. hmmmmmmmm.
I'm not saying that new earth!Bruce didn't suffer some of that but... it does feel different to me because the kid and not so kid bats got to grow and evolve, if that makes sense? and to do it past Bruce. while in prime earth, everything feels in a state of arrested development. stagnant. and thus, unchangeable, unmoving. not all the "movement" in new earth was good or forward but it's a whole other beast, basically. and things now feel like they're more tied to Bruce, like a lot if not all the other bonds go *through him*? maybe I'm being ungenerous: I haven't read a lot of prime earth (and I'm not gonna xD), but that's the impression I'm left with after what I have read.
and all of those factors contribute to making current!Bruce such a despicable figure to me. if we crossed paths one of us would walk away a few appendages down xDD
