So my partner and I are rewatching supernatural from season 4 on for nostalgia's sake
And my partner has never been involved in any fandom space, he knows some basic stuff but he's pretty much free of fanon and fandom consensus of any kind
And as we were watching he said:
"Damn I didn't remember how intense Dean and Castiel's relationship was back then. They're shooting this like a romance or something with all the close-ups."
And then, the KICKER :
"Must be a fic or two about that, right?"
Oh BUDDY. Oh PAL. YOU JUST. You have NO IDEA DO YOU

Hank, Sanford and Deimos with a Reader who does Handcrafts
Gonna post my old MadCom stuff since people seem interested in it! I didn't write too much back then, but I'll post it anyway and hope for some MadCom requests as well! What the title says! Reader knits, crochets and embroiders in this! The format is different from how I usually write, but that's because I wrote this months ago, if not in 2022! I don't remember when, but it's been a while since I wrote this!
Hank
If you get his attention while doing one of your crafts, expect him to just stare at you for a while. He knows what knitting is, since you can use those needles to stab someone with enough force, but he never really cared much for any of it. So, seeing you do those small, but precise movements has him somewhat curious. If you beckon him closer to check out what you’re doing, he will approach you, taking your piece from your hands and gently examining it, before returning it to you.
While he won’t join you that often due to his occupation, Hank will lie down next to you from time to time, watching you work until he falls asleep eventually. Doing so next to you, especially when you’re knitting or doing embroidery, takes a lot of trust on his behalf, so it’s a rather rare occurrence, but it might happen. Still, sometimes even Nevada’s most wanted can’t resist getting some sleep in.
If you give him a scarf or anything of the likes it might seem like he doesn’t like it at first. As he only grunts in acknowledgement and doesn’t wear it, it might seem disheartening at first glance. But rest assured, he’s well aware that him wearing it would only get it covered in blood, and he wouldn’t want your creation, that you put so much love into, to get sullied like that. Hank does keep it somewhere hidden where only he can find it so that it won’t get stolen as well, he truly does treasure anything you give him.
Sanford
He has helped his mother crocheting every once in a while when he was young by holding her wool for her. Sanford always thought it to be really cool how you can make something so beautiful out of something as simple as wool and yarn. Much like he did when he was younger, he’ll hold your yarn for you, making it more comfortable to knit or crochet for you. Unlike Hank and Deimos, he will try to learn it as well. It seems relaxing, so why not? But by no means is he a master. Due to his strength, he will likely rip the yarn and wool apart from time to time and come to you for help.
In order to relax and unwind a bit, he’ll likely come to you and ask if you would like to practise your craft for and with him. Having you around in and of itself already makes Sanford happy, but just getting to spend time with you without having to worry about being killed by the enemy makes it all the better. If you let him, he will hold you close, lean into you, put you on his lap, anything you’re comfortable with.
Please give him a sweater. Because he’s never wearing a shirt he gets cold fairly easily. He’ll cherish it dearly and wear it whenever he can, and whenever he knows it won’t get ripped. Another thing he’d be very happy with would be a piece of embroidery. It reminds him of better times and gives him hope, especially when your piece of art is something pleasant and sweet to look at. Because of that, he will put it up somewhere in his room where he can always see it. Even if Deimos makes fun of him for it, he will simply lightly jab at the smoker, all the while smiling at it.
Deimos
He’ll lovingly call you a grandma for having hobbies like these. Even while doing embroidery, where you stab things thousands of times, he will snicker at you whenever he catches you doing any of these things. Though, he doesn’t mind that sort of thing at all since that means you’ll be sitting still for a while, meaning you’ll give him a chance to unwind with him. Deimos will wrap his arms around you, leaning onto you or just cuddle into you in general. No fighting, no getting hurt, just watching you do the same movements over and over again.
Despite possibly calling you boring, he does have great respect for your craft, since he can’t do any of it. It’s too tedious and he can’t sit around for long enough doing something like this. It’s simply not exciting enough. But the moment you give him his first sweater, he will think it’s the most awesome thing to ever exist. Proud as a peacock, he will flaunt and taunt his new piece of clothing, especially to Sanford and Hank, declaring just what a great lover he has.
Present him with a plushie and his mind will be blown. He always thought knitting and crocheting are just for woolly hats and sweaters and scarves and all. If he sees you made him a tiny grunt, he will simply lose it, run around the Status Quo base and show everyone what you’re capable of. It doesn’t even matter to him whether or not it looks good. Your hands are magical to him and absolutely everyone has to know just how cool and epic you are.

Well I succumbed and watched the Pilot and first ep of Due South last night.
Really struck me how central the theme of Fraser's estrangement from his father is in the Pilot. Fraser mentioning that the last time they spoke was Christmas, essentially saying that the only times they speak are presumably brief calls at holidays. Gerard responding with a platitude - "I guess the more you know someone, the less needs to be said" - but it becomes quite clear that Fraser feels he doesn't know Bob at all, and has to learn about him through his journals.
And yet they're cut from the same cloth: "I always thought your father was the last of a kind. I was wrong - you are." And this is tied to the mountie stereotype lol.
Bob and Fraser both repeat the lines, "You're going to shoot a mountie? They'll hunt you to the ends of the earth," and they're both wrong. No one wants to pursue Bob Fraser's death except Fraser, and no one's happy with Fraser for solving the case because it uncovered corruption. He gets exiled for it. Bob and Fraser are the only mounties who "always get their man," lol, and it's because of Bob's neglect in the course of duty that Fraser follows in his footsteps and becomes so similar to Bob. He idealizes his father and wanted to grow up to be just like him - we can see that admiration in the drawing of him he finds in Bob's things that he made when he was a child eg, or in the song Superman that plays while Fraser reads his journal in the diner. But he doesn't know him. And he pursues duty above all else because he has nothing else of his father.
And then you have Ray, who seems to exist as the opposite of Bob. If there's one thing Ray is, it's there. He is there for Fraser to hunt down suspects, to invite him to a loud family dinner, to save him from an explosion, he tracks him down to apologize for being dismissive, to invite him to dinner, and he flies to the Yukon when he can't reach him by phone. In the diner scene in particular he's directly positioned as a contrast to Bob's absence both in life and death. Fraser is alone trying to understand his father through his journals (looking for something "he missed" ie his dad), and Ray joins him, ending the thematically significant song montage, and eases his solitude. Fraser says he doesn't have family, and Ray shares his own with him.
And after the pilot case, there's nothing drawing them together except friendship. They're not a mismatched pair of cops assigned together who have to learn to get along, they work together unofficially because they can't help but spend every waking moment together.
Bob represents absence and Ray represents presence, distant admiration vs actually knowing someone.
And I'll probably have more to say on that as like, poles Fraser is caught between, if/as I rewatch more of the show. Ray's position is a little muddy especially because pre VS he buys into Fraser's image to an extent, as pointedly examined in Heaven and Earth. But again, more on that another time.

hello friend! have you finished MASH? I haven't ever read any MASH fic but if you feel like it how about something in the aftermath of either 9x10 Operation Friendship where BJ has compartment syndrome in his arm or from 4x18 Hawkeye where Hawkeye has a concussion and monologues the whole episode?
hello! not quite yet but i am getting through episodes scary fast. my daily routine has been lots of crocheting with mash on and i'm developing equal amounts of both carpal tunnel and brainrot. 4x18 (which hulu has as a different number for some reason) was literally one of my favorite episodes. alan alda singing broadway my beloved
"You are not Radar."
"Right again, Hawk."
Narrowing his eyes in suspicion, Hawkeye adds, “Unless you’ve grown a foot and a half.”
“Still me,” BJ confirms, gently smoothing hair off the side of Hawkeye’s skull. “After some questionable pantomimes and a terrible game of charades, Potter thought I’d better go grab you in case you were hurt. I guess it’s a good thing I did.”
“You missed my show,” Hawkeye pouts, a grimace appearing on his face as he tries to bat away BJ’s hands. “Ow. Stop it.”
“Hold still.”
“I could’ve gotten you first row seats, Beej.”
“There’s a lot of dried blood here. How long were you bleeding for?”
“You know, I got to hear all the greats before they came through New York.” When BJ touches a particularly tender spot, Hawkeye pulls out of his grasp, gasping with the movement. “Beej!”
“Sorry! Sorry.” At his friend’s betrayed look, BJ promises, “I won’t touch again. Lemme look at your eyes.”
“Why, I haven’t gotten permission from your father yet.”
“Hawk-”
“We’re not even on our third date.”
“Hawk! Look here. C’mon, you know concussion protocol just as well as I do.”
Finally following his directions, Hawkeye adds, “You know it’s actually a myth that concussed patients can’t sleep?”
“Your pupils are barely dilating,” BJ mumbles back, though mostly to himself. “Alright, c’mon Hawk, let’s get back to camp.”
Frowning, Hawkeye replies, “I haven’t finished my one man show.”
“Oh-ho, yes you have. Let’s up. Up and at ’em. There’s a bed in post-op with your name on it.”
It’s a tense few seconds, betrayal clouding over concussed eyes, before Hawkeye eventually acquiesces. “Fine. But I’m picking the radio.”
“Hawk, if you manage to get a station working on a jeep that doesn’t even have a radio, you can pick the music for as long as we’re in Korea.”

In Nope, after The Scene and right before Jean Jacket grossly squelches and then goes “Mom I Threw Up” all over the Haywood house, a woman trapped in the digestive tract screams “BURNING ME-” but for all the world I’m sure she says “YOU’RE BURNING ME-,” begging and pleading to something, and I kind’ve can’t help... how many of those people were still coherent and expecting aliens? Processing the nightmarish death around them, still, as an intelligence “beaming them up.” Begging, threatening, sobbing, pleading with the creatures who abducted them “Why are you doing this? What’s happening?” All of it coldly watched, “filmed,” by the camera eye.

i haven't seen seasons 1 through 3 since 2019 (but i am slowly making my way back through it) so forgive me for any inaccuracies, but purely from memory this is how im ranking steve from each season
character in general
Season Two Steve, because he's still got that jock-ish bitchy energy but it's also where we really start to see his softer side and also i think the first time you genuinely feel for him (his problem with billy, his implied problem with school, the bullshit scene), it's also the birth of babysitter steve!! and the second but much more thorough time we're shown that he's fully willing to put his life on the line to protect people he doesn't even know that well. He's a competent and strategic character who definitely has the vibe of Just Trying To Get Through The Year.
Scoops Steve, for similar reasons as the above but we also get to see the goofier prettyboy side of him and we're better introduced to Steve's observational skills and how the fact that he's not "smart" like the others is actually one of his advantages. Because while robin and dustin were focused on translating russian, steve couldn't stop noticing how familiar the background music was. this is also the season where Steve is starting to be written as a ditzier character, but i'm choosing to chalk that up to the fact that he's more laidback and less worried about his public appearance now that he works at an icecream parlor and wears a sailor uniform. (This is also the most bisexual version of steve, followed by s4)
King Steve, who i personally think was quite shallow (like from a writing perspective) but that is almost definitely because he wasn't originally supposed to survive the first season so he's forgiven for that. Still, we are shown someone who is cutting and self-confident, and then later shown that he is someone who is quick to realise when he's genuinely fucked up and just as quick to apologise. It's also when we're introduced to the idea that he will consciously put himself in danger to protect others. (@peter-pantomime made a really great video about one of Steve's tells on tiktok and i haven't been able to get it out of my head ever since)
Season 4 Steve, because they pretty much erased any and all of the competency previously shown in his character. I think this season did the most disservice to him, seeming to only write him off as genuine idiot who gets treated like shit by all of his friends and is only useful as a babysitter for teenagers who don't want to be babysat. It erased any progress he'd made in regards to his relationship with Nancy Wheeler, i think the only thing that kept him feeling like Steve was Joe Keery's acting and how well he knows the character. I think a lot of what was wrong with Steve's character this season could've been a really great way to introduce the amount of head trauma he's received through the other seasons but considering it wasn't so much as hinted at in canon it just seems like they circled back around to making Steve Harrington's character as shallow as it was in season 1. whether or not that's because they're setting him up to die in season 5, i think it was unfair.
character design
Scoops Steve, in his little sailor outfit with the floofy hair and the lipgloss?? iconic (bonus: the dark blue jeans with the red and blue vest when he applies at family video)
Season Two Steve, with the tight blue jeans and the sunglasses and the swoopy hair and the nail bat, also iconic (bonus: his gym uniform AND the maroon sweater when he drops dustin off at the dance)
Season 4 Steve bc he spent a majority of his screen time shirtless and only wearing a battle vest, and then later the coolest fucking jacket i've ever seen (wait shout out to that blue and white polo shirt that showed off his arms, thank you for your service; and his cute little yellow sweater)
King Steve, while i do love the preppy look and how much it made him look like a puppy at times, what the actual fuck was going on with his hair?? i would have liked to see more of the floppy haired steve we saw when he was helping Nancy study ):

My red flag is I don't honestly care that much if an adaptation is faithful or not if it's still entertaining to watch. If the changes are all consistent and aren't purely there to make it boring, I will still enjoy watching it.

Hi. I have noticed that there are not that many fandoms that you write for. And h I do know that you are in a lot of fandoms and watch a lot of shows. So I reckon that the fandoms/ pairings that you choose to write fics for are special to you in some way. I was wondering what got you so invested and hooked with bishova??? (Cuz honestly girl same) I mean the show was two years ago, they only had 15 min of screen time together and not to mention that they are not cannon (tho my delulu brain doesn’t acknowledge that part). So what is it that made you think them as ‘special’ and a write-worthy pairing compared to all the other pairing in other fandoms that you are in.
Honestly, my brain isn't that rational about it. I started writing for Bishova in 2021 because I was in a dry-spell for my writing and in-between hyperfixations and my friend @plushkiwi was into them at the time and suggested i give them a go. It was actually also by complete coincidence that I even watched Hawkeye. The choice was between it and Arcane and I chose Hawkeye because it had less episodes and it was a lazy Saturday. I didn't want a big commitment (joke's on me, i guess 😂)
And then when I started writing for them, my brain just went: "oh yeah, this dynamic is fun." so I stuck with it. That's actually not usually how it goes, either. Usually, when I get really into a ship and really want to write for it, I notice and follow the urge right away. But that doesn't always happen and it didn't happen with Bishova. It only happened after I started writing for them. The thing that I like about them is how much room there is to explore. Their backstories are rich (especially Yelena's), and they're polar-opposites in many ways, which makes them extra fun to bounce off of one another. But the MCU is probably never going to explore that richness of backstory, so there's more for me to do.
(also how cute. yeah the show was 2yrs ago. I wrote a fic about an anime i watched when i was a kid in the 90s 😂😂 time is relative, my friend! lesbians are eternal!)

What is a good object show to watch to get into watching them, if you have any recommendations? Or what is your favourite one!
really hard question! Two of my faverties [BFDI:TPOT and II] are extreamly.... hard to get into? the earlier seasons are really crass/have bad quality [or both]. If you really really get into objects shows and you want to watch two of the most influential ones, I def recommend getting into them just, be super cautious HAHA For like, a starter show that you can enjoy from the start shows, without like... having to forgive rocky animation or rockier humer, I'd super recommend "Burner" !!! it's extremely charming, well made, and just overall really really good!! it makes me happy :] [other recs are "Love of the S*N" and "ONE" but those are both kinda dismantling normal object show tropes, so it'd be best to watch a 'Normal' one first. like Burner! for example!]
[also I'm in no way an expert.. it's been months since I was fully imersed into the object fandom, and even than I wans't like... the deepest? so uh! yeahg. might not be the best recs X)]

literally no one else can be around us when my sister and i watch one tree hill. our commentary is insane. we are also too nuanced for others to understand (our big juicy empathetic hearts for dan scott, while also easily condemning him when we feel like it jskfdkf) also it is always roast lucas hour and praise brooke hour. also also, we will regularly scream I HATE THIS SHOW WHO MADE THIS SHOW MARK SCHWAHN WHEN I GET YOU. this is, in fact, our favorite show. but fuck that guy.
