😐 What embarrasses you most about your own writing?

how dare u make me answer this. anyway every time i look back at my writing that’s more than a year old i cringe a little bit just because i can tell what was more heavily edited and what wasn’t, and also my writing style has evolved and my skills have leveled up so i’m just like. what. y’all liked this??? (but of course, readers never see the effort and thought process that goes into something, so i am acutely more aware of every single flaw)

sometimes i also look back at the characterization in my early fics and i can just Tell when i was leaning too heavily into fanon characterization because i was new and still finding my footing as a fic writer. and like it was popular!! but also sometimes i read old stuff and i’m just like “he would not fucking say that.” there is also the opposite issue where sometimes i read stuff that i wrote while vld was airing and i’m just like “this feels so much closer to Correct than the stuff i’m writing now ://” because it has been. so long since i really rewatched the show. and i refuse to rewatch past season 3. but also it has been over 5 years since i have seen season 3. yknow

“Listen,” Lance squeezes Keith’s fingers in his hands, “I’m as bad at this as you probably are and this is going to be really cheesy, but that’s the way I was raised and I know I act like an idiot around pretty girls, but I’m an even bigger idiot around you. Go ahead and try to guess why that is. No, actually don't do that."

this one is gonna be an xmas special!! even though im writing this before halloween lol. anyways. this was so cute!! lance being all stressed about what he should get keith bc he's all in love w him any everything. so real.

With what, Keith?” “I don’t know?” Keith asks, busily testing his foothold in the gate and generally ignoring the rising storm cloud of ire behind him. “With a gun?” “A gun? This isn’t some sort of black ops storming an enemy base thing! This is a Christmas tree thing!” “I don’t see a difference? You’re the sharpshooter. Shoot out the cameras.” “Let me just pull a gun out of my ass, Keith!” “OK, problem solved,” Keith agrees, taking another step up the gate. “Nothing is solved you dumb country space redneck!”

Or Keith and Lance may be disasters at decorating, but Christmas still manages to work its magic on them.

i bookmarked this like a year ago and let me tell you all i needed to hear was dumb country space redneck and i was hooked 😭😭 and it lived up to the name fr. hate the canon ending? want lance to not be a farmer while still acknowledging his struggles with homesickness? want some whipped keith and meddlesome kosmo? want some cheesy xmas feels? click ahead!

ANYWAYS yall know me and established relationship + early season dynamics!! i am obsessed!! and this fic delivers!! grumpy lance pov who just wants the rest of the world to fuck off for a couple days so he can have his bf around. he's such a voice of the people

A severe bout of winter weather threatens to stop Shiro from making it home for his first Christmas with Keith. Shiro is ready to do whatever it takes to keep his promise.

okay this one is from darcy's i've got you brother, which i am obsessed with and have cried over several times, and which just recently updated! this fic is so cute and a adashi with young keith always fucking gets to me, man. they're just so. shiro being so desperately determined to keep his promise to young keith who has had so many promises broken that he doesnt even expect shiro to try. but is happy that he does. sobbing.

5. the greatest gift of all by dumpsterdiva

Keith’s mouth hung open for a few seconds before he stammered, “D-do you really mean that?” Lance looked a bit sheepish as he said, “I… It’s crazy, right? I mean, it’s way too soon. You know I was kidding.” Keith straightened up. “Well, I’m not. Marry me.” “What?!” “You heard me, you coward. Marry me.” “That’s the worst proposal ever!” “Worse than you threatening me with marriage so I would stop talking about how amazing you are?”

YOU GUYS KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT PROPOSAL FICS. i feel ksjbskdbqjdbqwlwd about them. okay. and throw in a christmas setting??? and banter?? and a MODERN AU?? i am doing my best, people. this fic had me shoving a pillow into my face and screaming.

Hello! I'm so happy you're back and I was wondering if you could help me find a fic?

From what I can remember it's a multi part fic (the author didn't put chapters but separate parts) and it takes place after everything and everyone is back on earth. Everyone hangs out in a cabin and Keith wasn't gonna be there but he ends up coming anyway and it makes lance super happy. Allura is still alive I think she's in love with romelle. Adam is alive too.

There's a part where Keith and Lance cuddle watching movies, but also a part where they spend the countdown to new years on the roof. There's a thing about them having to eat a baggies of grapes???? Before the countdown ends.

Anyway it's very cute and I would be so grateful if you found it for me! Thank you once again I really appreciate all the help

when the team gets together to stay in adam's winter cabin for the holidays, keith doesn't know what to expect. the war is over, but the effects of it are far from gone, and they're all still struggling to get used to their new lives. as usual, he finds himself spending most of his time with lance, but he's surprised when some rather unexpected feelings start bubbling up to the surface. the more time he spends with lance, the stronger those feelings grow, until they're so undeniable that he's forced to come to terms with them. and somewhere in the midst of hot chocolate parties and snowball fights and sledding adventures, keith learns how to fall in love.

Ummm i don’t hate many tropes (probably because i only read the same ones) so i don’t really have an answer… maybe anything that overly glorifies something that shouldn’t be glorified because it’s like,,, horrific? Yknow what i mean?

YES UGH FUCKING HUGGING FICS I EAT THAT SHIT UP!!! I love making specifically the doctor hug people because i think they very much need to. But it’s even more fun because i HAVE to make it in character.

urghdhfwh i don’t? But basically the best advice is to just sit down with a notebook and set a ten minute timer and write over and over and over again “i don’t know what to write" until you get so bored you end up writing somethjng. NO PUTTING DOWN THE PENCIL.

So nothing is okay, and everything’s okay. There’s one missing piece to the equation, and Keith’s gotten very good at ignoring it. He goes to work and goes to the doctor’s and goes to Pidge’s and the Holt’s and Shiro and Adam’s and keeps himself moving and busy. He’s got a lot on his plate; he’s trying to figure out how he’s going to raise a baby, he doesn’t have much time for anything else.

But that’s only during the day. At night, things are quiet. He lays in his windowless room on his creaky bed, tossing and turning because he can’t fucking get comfortable, and he blinks gritty eyes at the dark room and just wants. He wants warm arms, and he wants someone to get him a glass of water, and he wants someone to tell him it’s gonna be okay, and someone to hold him up cause he’s getting exhausted doing it all himself. And he doesn’t want just anyone, he wants Lance. He misses Lance.

Which is the silliest thing he’s ever heard. How can you miss something that was never yours?

(Keith, a motorcycle mechanic, and Lance, a movie star, spend one night at a bar together. They get a lot more than they bargained for.)

Lance wants to scream at the irony. "Keith, you absolute moron, what did you expect? You left us!"

"I left because of you!"

The words hang in the air for a fraction of a second, shocking Lance back into silence before they hit him full force. And they sting. They sting and burn and bite and fill Lance with such an overwhelming sense of hurt he can't believe he's still standing. It hurts.

He blinks the tears out of his eyes. "I can't believe you," he whispers.

Honestly, I don’t know what else I was expecting. Even from the first words, I knew it was going to be angsty, but I pushed forward and read it anyway and I regret nothing. Oblivious Lance in this is so painful and the way Keith thought Allura and Lance were a thing when really, they were just discussing about how Lance was feeling after the thing with Bob. The dynamic in this fic broke my heart and the way Keith literally risked it all for Lance ?? Added with the angry confession ?? And the misunderstandingTM ?? Hoo boy, I’m crying

1. you’re the one that never lets me roam by @littendeservesbetter

If any of his teammates were insulted—if Allura’s leadership was doubted, if Hunk was called too soft, if Pidge was underestimated, if Keith was attacked for his Galran heritage—Lance would defend them in a heartbeat. He knows his team and he loves his second family. He’d defend them to the universe and back.

So why wouldn’t they do the same for him?

keith confesses to lance hoping that the expected rejection will help him move on ASAP. it doesn't quite go according to plan.

darcy does not miss!! seriously her fics always make me smile. my two favourite parts of this fic were  that a) when lance didn’t know who keith liked he assumed immediately and wholeheartedly it was hunk. that’s golden right there and b) shiro is a DRAMA LOVING BITCH

"Be mine," Keith mumbles, pleas, against Lance's lips, unwilling to pull away. "Yes," Lance whispers, smiling as Keith brushes their lips together again, pressing up and forward to kiss Keith properly. "You too... be mine, too." "I am," Keith tells him when they break apart reluctantly, their foreheads pressed together, tip of their noses touching, Keith's arms squeezing Lance gently in their hold around his waist and lower back. "I'm yours."

okay i cannot describe how much this fic makes me lose my mind in my own words i literally have to give you guys a snippet of the fic that made me actually cry real tears and struggle to breathe:

"Baby," Keith says softly and it sends a thrill through Lance, hearing pet names from Keith is so rare he always melts when he does hear them, specially when they're whispered against his lips this way. He presses a soft chaste kiss into Lance again before he continues to mutter softly. "My baby, I love you. I love you, I love you, I love you."

its just. the devotion. the repetition. it always fucking gets me. from keith especially, bc hes such a devoted guy!! he is loyal to a goddamn fault and beyond like!!! thats how he loves!! with his whole heart his whole body his whole soul his own being!! he loves and loves and loves!!!

4. i’ll be your romeo by @jilliancares

In a world where Soul Marks show up only after your soulmate has fallen in love with you, it's rare for them to appear when you're not already in a relationship. It's even rarer for them to show up when you're standing on a chair in your favorite coffee shop, screeching at the sight of a spider. Lance becomes well-acquainted with this brand of "rare", and he gets the cute barista, Keith, to help him with the search for his soulmate.

first of all soulmate aus my beloved. second of all jillian fics my beloved. third of all this fic is SO dorky and i love it!! i was hooked by the first scene bc it was just so funny. the way keith falls for lance...hes such a goober i love him

this is another devotion fic bc i am fully and completely obsessed with them. i made a seperate rec for this fic a couple months ago bc it truly made my breath stop like i could not process. there were three scenes in particular that made me gasp out loud and make my heart pound. just the easy way they love each other...sobbing
