Hey, I don't know if you've already done something like this, but could you do a spell to banish a crush? I like this guy, but I don't want to.
Hello hello!
Crushes can be hard - I empathize with you completely.
INSPIRATION FOR BANISHING CRUSHES SPELL
For banishing a crush, here are a few correspondences you can use when crafting a spell of your own:
lemon or lime (juice, slices - whatever you have!)
vinegar
carrot
vervain
thorns (especially if they're from red roses)
pistachio shells
red/pink/black colors/candles
Now, in terms of crafting your own spell... if it were me, I would probably do something like this (please note I haven't actually tried this spell, this is just some brainstorming on what you could try):
prepare your spell space how you normally would (for me, it usually involves lighting incense and/or candles and meditating for a while)
write your crushes' initials, zodiac sign, and any other info you have onto pistachio shells
crush the pistachio shells in a mortar & pestle or whatever you have on-hand
sprinkle the pistachio pieces into a jar of vinegar and lime/lemon juice
place a few lemon seeds and thorns in the jar as well
you may also draw a heart, or some other symbol of romantic love and destroy it in some way - ripping it up, maybe - and place it in the jar as well.
seal up the jar and put it in a drawer somewhere to forget about it. once you feel like the spell is finished (meaning your crush has diminished), you can dispose of the bottle by chucking it in the trash entirely or just throwing away the contents of the jar, and then cleaning/re-purposing the jar itself.
This is something super simple - but obviously you can tweak this however you want, or do something else entirely.
Thanks so much for the ask - this one was fun to come up with!

Hey I am a baby witch and I was wondering where do I start my research it’s so much to take in and I’m honestly confused where to begin.
Different witches would probably have better answers but my recommendation is looking into meditations to practice grounding and centering yourself and your energy. Look into protection basics. I have a post here for protection correspondences. Walk in nature and see what calls to you. Develop your intuition by listening to your instincts and acknowledging when your feelings were correct. Start Journaling. Its okay if you don't do it everyday and the set up is all your own. You can write, draw or doodle, any thoughts you have that you feel you should note to train yourself to be more aware. A dream journal can also be helpful as you can get important messages from your dreams. Once again the meanings could be very personal to you so follow your feelings and instincts when interpreting.
Seeing as you're also new to Tumblr allow me to also give you a few terms to look for.
General: witchblr, witches of Tumblr, witch community
Learning: bos, book of shadows, grimoire, corresponce/correspondences, witch correspondence
Witch types (genuinely its a way to just say a focus, you don't have to be any specific type): elemental witch, sea witch, water witch, green witch, hedge witch, fae witch, hearth witch, kitchen witch... (these are just a few that came to my mind, there's plenty more but as you explore you should see them in the hashtags)
Specificities: bipoc witches, adhd witch, black witch, afro witch, autistic witch, disabled witch
And lastly here are a few witchblrs I recommend giving a follow: @thevirginwitch @crazycatsiren @she-who-treads-on-water @sirenliz @breelandwalker
I realize I said a lot so I'm gonna list it a little easier for you
Learn grounding and centering techniques
Protect yourself
Look into developing your intuition
Get to know your area/nature
Journal/Dream journal
I also have a free digital library should you want to look into some books. I'm still organizing it to make things easier but it is quite a lot and I have labeled folders recently to make things a little easier so it's worth a look if you wanna try out a book before getting your own copy.

40 & 83 for the ask game!
(my witch sideblog: @thevirginwitch)
Hey there!
Witchcraft Asks
40. What is the first spell you ever preformed? Successful or not.
I cursed a bully of mine in 6th grade (so I was 11 years old) and he ended up with a broken leg because of an accident. He was a football player, which is how his leg got broken (some...how...). You draw your own conclusions.
83. Do you have a pre-ritual ritual? (I.e. Something you do before rituals to prepare yourself for them). If so what is it?
I don't. I tend to just do things randomly. Sometimes I'll vibe check my room with some cleansing air spray before casting a spell, though.
Thanks for sending these in!
~Jasper

2 and 31 for the ask game! :)
(my witch sideblog: @thevirginwitch)
Hello, friend!
Witchcraft Asks:
2. Do you consider yourself Wiccan, Pagan, witch, or other?
I consider myself to be a Hellenic Polytheist/Pagan as well as a Spoonie Witch.
31. What is something you wish someone had told you when you first started?
That, outside of all the obvious appropriation, your craft is yours to create and mold for yourself. You can be eclectic, solitary, coven-based, or without any specific label. You do not have to follow "rules" that others have set (excluding appropriation because those are rules to be followed and respected). And that correspondences are subjective.
Thanks so much for sending these in!

hi! im a baby witch and I was wondering if you could tell me more about sigils and spells? do we make up our own, is there like a guide of some sort? I really appreciate it thank you so much. I love your blog <3
Hello!
It really depends on the person. I've seen folks exclusively use others' sigils (you'll find a lot on this site), but I personally enjoy the art of making my own.
Some folks have their own systems - one of the more popular methods involve writing out a sentence that you want to turn into a sigil (for example, something like "I am calm and collected in times of crisis"), then removing all the vowels and repeat letters (which would leave you with "m cl nd t s f"), and then arranging these letters into an "aesthetic" fashion - which would be your sigil!
Another common method is using a table of letters, or using the "witches sigil wheel" below:
Tumblr media
Usually, after removing the vowels/repeat letters from your sentence, you would draw lines connecting each letter on the table/sigil wheel, and the resulting lines would become your sigil.
Alternatively, you can just... make it up as you want! I personally enjoy meditating/getting myself into a "trance"-like state, focusing on my intention, and scribbling on a piece of paper. I might refine the scribble, but ultimately, the scribble becomes my sigil!
There's also tons of other resources out there that might suit your needs better - I personally enjoy using planetary sigils/seals and alchemical symbolism when I don't have enough energy to create my own sigils.
There are tons of symbol and sigil systems out there, so I encourage you to get out there and learn about them, practice, and see what works best for you! You might decide a mixture of symbol systems work, or, you might decide to create your very own system from scratch. Either way is completely valid!
YouTube has a lot of great walk-throughs for creating your own sigils, so if you feel stuck or need some info, definitely pop on over there to take a look! Video instructions are probably a bit clearer than a blog post, LOL.
Thanks so much for the question!

Greetings, dear friend. Could you share your thoughts on what is a quantum transition in the magical sense? What do you think about it? I will be very grateful for your reply!
Hello hello!
Unfortunately, anything "quantum" (specifically in new age/spiritual/witchcraft spaces) usually has nothing to do with witchcraft/magic and is deeply rooted in pseudoscience - so I (nor will anyone else) have any information for you on this. Quantum physics and other topics are much more complicated then folks want to believe, which leads to a lot of misinformation and, ultimately, folks falling for pseudoscience. More specifically, I've found that new witches/practitioners that are looking for a "scientific" reasoning that witchcraft works tend to fall down this rabbit hole of new-age beliefs such as vibrations, quantum physics, etc. (which, again, are complete pseudoscience).
@creature-wizard might have more feedback/information for you that can point you in the right direction, if you are interested in educating yourself on how terms like "quantum" are used in new-age spaces!
(Also, I cannot help but laugh at the thought that you would ask me this question - as if I know ANYTHING about the subject of quantum physics, LOL. I am not some hot-shot scientist. I'm just someone who likes to practice witchcraft and read/write about it.)

🫧 & 🔮 for the ask game!
from this ask game!
🫧 lately I've been super fond of sound cleansing - specifically with a glass bell that was passed down to me from my mom! when I'm not doing that, though, it's usually smoke cleansing with incense :>
🔮 I don't divine much, but my favorite method is either shufflenancy or tarot!

I did some shadow work that did not make sense for this life, do you think your shadow self can carry past life traumas and you will be able to work through past life traumas through shadow work?
Unfortunately I don't think I know enough about shadow work/past lives to give you a half-decent answer.
Anyone who may have some guidance - feel free to RB/reply!

Hi there! May I ask about the meaning of your username? I know it looks obvious but I've always wondered which definition of "virgin" you're using
(Sorry if this is a weird question, my curiosity has just gotten the better of me today)
Hey! I was actually hoping someone would ask me about this LOL, I could never come up with a casual reason to bring it up.
It's kind of an inside joke from my childhood - my middle school friend group and I were huddled around an astrology book, taking turns looking at eachother's signs. They got to Virgo - my sign - and the subtitle to the page was "The Virgin". Everyone had a good laugh, and the whole event kinda stuck with me!
Anyway, I came out as non-binary a few years back and adopted the name Virgo in place of my birthname. When I started my witchcraft journey, I was trying to come up with a username that incorporated my new name (and, obviously, my zodiac sign) so, TheVirginWitch was born!
Unfortunately, I half-expect people to misinterpret my name to mean something else, but that's the full meaning! Just an attribute to Virgo :)

Hello ! I’m super new to the craft and was wondering where you would suggest getting supplies, such as crystals, tarot cards, and anything of the like.
Getting supplies can be tough, especially if you live in southern states or if you're in a rural area (and, even moreso if you're still in the broom closet!) I personally get my tools from a myriad of places - I get my crystals from a local rock/mineral shop; I get tarot cards online, usually straight from the artist/manufacturer; I get herbs in bulk from my local health food store; and other misc. tools such as candles, candle holders, and jars I typically get from thrift stores.
If you're a new witch, it may be enticing to buy supplies from one shop - maybe an online or local, in-person metaphysical store - but for me, personally, I find they they overprice items and it can be hard to ensure that you're getting your items ethically that way. So, if you're looking to buy tools, I highly recommend shopping around at first! You might be surprised at what you can find in other stores.

I saw your thing about Texan witches, I was wondering if you could share the local correspondences or something because there are a few that I just can’t find anything for (:
Love from the houston area ♡︎
Hello, fellow Texan witch! I would love to share some Texan correspondences with you - this is actually something I'm currently in the process of researching, and unfortunately I haven't come across many resources for Texan magic, aside from the Texas Folklore Society (and, bear in mind, folklore doesn't inherently mean witchcraft/magic).
You can find my work-in-progress Texas Witchcraft post here! I'll be updated it regularly as I continue my research.

91. When you first started out in your path what was the first thing or things you bought?
I love this question!!
The first things I bought were spell jars, incense, books and colored candles. Now that I'm a bit more seasoned, I've hardly touched my spell jars -- everything else still gets used fairly regularly, though!

What's your favorite divination tool?
i've only ever personally practiced with tarot and shufflemancy, and i'd have to say my favorite is tarot! i don't read for myself as often as i'd like (tarot takes a lot of energy from me), but when i do, it's very opening and provides a lot of insight for me/helps me to better myself.

☀️🌾 🌱
queer-themed asks!
☀️ - Is there anyone who helped you accept that you were queer? If so, who?
hmm, I don't think I had any queer influences in my life that made me feel more accepted - I always felt accepted, because the friends I had growing up were queer, too! However, when Hannah Hart came out on YouTube literally a decade ago, I definitely felt... perceived. I think that's when I really knew I was queer.
🌾 - How queer do you think you look? Would it be obvious to someone that you were queer if they looked at you?
I probably don't look queer at all, LOL. I work an office job, and I am also autistic, so I have a hard time keeping up with jewelry/fashion/makeup/hair colors and styles, etc. The only thing I'm semi-consistent about is wearing band-tees and colored hair, but that doesn't inherently look queer - it just looks half-assed punk.
🌱 - How would your younger self act if your current self told them they were queer?
I'd probably be offended, only because back then, "queer" was a bad word. However, I don't think I'd be surprised at all. It was something I always knew, I just didn't understand how queer I was.
thanks for asking, @eshidu!
