Dating Rei Suwa (x male!reader)

● it had been a year since Rei and Kazuki left the organization to live normal lives and raise Miri

● and in that year they opened up a diner that just happened to be in your neighborhood which you became a regular at

● the food was incredible and it didn't hurt that one of the cooks was super cute as well

● Kazuki picked up pretty quickly that Rei liked you too

● you were the only customer that he willingly talked to instead of hiding from in the kitchen

● and he knew your order by heart and would start cooking it as soon as you stepped through the door

● he would even bring it to you himself so he could say hi

● Kazuki often teased him to ask you out already which Miri overheard and then joined in on

● “papa's got a boyfriend, papa's got a boyfriend” she would gleefully chant

● after a couple of months of getting to know each other he finally asks you out on a date

● which Kazuki and Miri spent all day helping him get ready for

● picking out the perfect outfit, where to go and everything

● and then there was the pretty confusing totally not ex-hitmen for hire story about how he and what he assured you was his completely platonic best friend came to be raising a child together that was not biologically either one of thiers

● but in time he finds comfort in you and opens up to you about a watered down version of his shitty childhood

● there's a lot of dates involving pizza and video games

● you think it's adorable when he lets Miri win at Mario kart

● waking up with Miri in between you guys when you spend the night because she had a nightmare

● Rei making you guys his signature French toast for breakfast

● days out with Rei, Kazuki and Miri

● you helped Miri start a scrapbook of all your adventures

● Beach days, zoos, museums, theme parks etc

● Rei secretly looks at it all the time to remind himself he deserves to be as happy as he's become

● one of Miri's favorite trips was seeing the dinosaur exhibit at the museum

● you bought her a dinosaur book from the gift shop that she became obsessed with

● you have so many photos of Miri in Rei’s lap as he reads it to her

● and Miri tells all her friends and teachers about her awesome uncle Y/N

● it's equally as confusing when you try to explain to other parents that you're the boyfriend of the guy raising a kid with his friend but you wouldn't change a thing about your perfect family

How would Jeff and Barb spend their first Valentine’s Day together? 🥰

I'm so late, i'm so sorry 🙏🏾.

Jeff would piss Barb off at first. Why? Because he's acting like he totally forgot or like only got her a generic candy bar "Here baby, happy V-day" sort of thing.

Meanwhile, she's given him a handmade card and inside said card she's poured out all of her feelings for him. It's taken up both sides of the card and there are little hearts and stars scattered about. Barb's made him a beaded bracelet that reads "Barb and Jeff"

But In truth, he's planned out everything....

Lunch rolls around and Jeff is sitting on top of Barb's usual table guitar in hand, playing 'thier' song quietly while trying to hold her gaze as she approaches. He's hiding a little stuffed bear behind him.

When he finishes the song, he gives her a kiss and her little bear wishing her a happy Valentine's Day.

She goes to check her locker, and short love notes written on colorful pieces of construction paper topple out and onto the floor. They say the equivalent to those candied hearts "Kiss me" "Love you" "Hey Beautiful"

After school, Jeff is waiting by his Bike/Car with a sign that reads "Be My Valentine" written in his best attempt to mimic Corroded Coffin's logo font.

The rest of the day is spent with Dinner and a movie at his place. He dips into his Dad's records and plays slow jams so they can dance. Barb has snapped a few pictures to add to the scrapbook she's keeping of all their firsts.

Needless to say, Jeff is proud of himself, as Barb's been talking about their Valentine's Day for weeks afterward.

I'm a weekly digital scrapbooker.

And I haven't been able to scrapbook since week 38 the week i called the end of my almost 3 year relationship. I struggled what to write tonight i wrote :

The thing with healing, growing and evolving is you out grow people and things that once made you really happy. This loss can hurt immensely and the fear of loss of them, after they have been such a crucial part of your life can hold you back.

They may have been a huge part of the healing and changes often support and helped by them but you leveled up before them. And no matter how much you turn around to help them level with you they just aren't at the place in thier own life to yet.

This loss hurts so much because it isn't lack of love causing that separation. Its a painful separation of 2 ships drifting apart for thier separate adventures.

This photo is the rainbow over my car that appeared as i balled my eyes out in my car. I got out and took the photo because it spoke to me immensely.

I'm greatful we have navigated this breakup and have found a way to be friends. I still have so much love for him.

Just had some headcanons about Machi pop into my head that I wanted to share with yall. So we know this poor girl struggles with "perfect"/neat things right? Well I was thinking about some healthy coping mechanisms she could develop to replace the whole 'breaking property/living in a dump' thing & here's what I got so far -

1. She always tries to wear odd socks (unless she's invited somewhere nice)

2. Ayame & Mine help her find cool asymmetrical stuff to wear, how to make clashing colours/patterns work for her & teach her how to sew up her old clothes in a more "punk rock" way (after Yuki & Kakeru explain some of her issues with perfection)

3. Tohru gently points out that she dosn't have to tie her laces the same way on both shoes if she dosn't want to

4. Haru & Rin (awkwardly on her part) teach her the power of acessorising (ie. wearing only one earing, putting on an uneven amount of bracelets/rings/necklaces, adding paper clips of different sizes & colours to your clothing & Machi later ends up adding stuff like buttons to her outfits/belongings as well which Haru & Rin are tottally surppotive of despite thier difference in style) & hair/makeup which (thanks to Yuki's advice) they make sure to keep slightly messy (Kimi laughed at it at first until Momiji made her feel bad after he told her that Machi had gone to the bathroon & wiped off all the make up & undid the hair style so Kimi bought her some limited edition Mogeta merch, after asking for Yuki's advice, in apolgey & started referring to Machi's new hair/makeup style as "punk chic" whenever anyone tried to mock Machi about her new look)

5. her & Momiji go on a crazy tie dying adventure (much to Hatori's grumbling & Mayu's amusement)

6. Kormaki gets her into collecting second hand fridge magnets which she then later uses in her work (my version of post-serise Machi is an artist) once the magnetism finally wears off

7. Kagura teaches her how to fix up old plushies (Machi likes creating Mogeta inspired characters) & gives Machi all her old cat ones to work on (Machi descides not to ask why Yuki's cousin was seemingly once obssesd with orange cats because she looks rather embrassed & a little sad when she hands over her collection)

8. Kyo reluctantly teaches her how to cook a few simple dishes (Tohru comes over as well & Yuki insists her food is better but Machi prefers Kyo's simple style of presentation so it's eventually descided that Kyo & her will do the cooking & Tohru & Yuki will deal with the cleaning which Yuki agrees to becuse cleaning is still difficult for Machi but Kyo says it's actually because no matter how much Tohru tried to train him rat boy knows he would never be able to do anything in the kitchen but burn water)

9. Kakeru teaches her the skills of 'excessive badge & sticker decorating' as well as giving eachother fake tattoos (Kisa congratulates Hiro on not saying anything rude to Yuki's girlfriend about her appreance after they first meet her)

10. Cuts her hair short (she delibretly makes it very choppy) once she enters university, where the rules are less strict about your apprence (at least it is if your at art college), & she also regulary wears diffrent coloured wigs (her favourites being a dark red one & a rainbow one) whenever she wants to temporarily change her appearance (beacuse she didn't want to commit to just one look, still wanted to have the ability to quickly "become invisable" again & she heard from Kimi that exsseive hair die-ing could permantly destroy her hair & scalp) it takes her until she's 30 to try out shaving all her hair off (she worried she'd look sick/crazy or not feminine enough) & everyone's really surppotive (though Kimi dose cry a bit, Rin & Haru aren't there when her hair is being shaved & Kyo is a slightly confused as he'd always thought women liked having longer hair then guys) especially Ritsu (who's growing out thier hair again) & they all throw her a big party (Haru & Rin are there for the party bit just not the hair removal bit because it brought up some bad memories) where Kakeru films it & posts it (with Machi's permission) & they give her cut off hair to a charity chosen by all thier followers (despite her disbelief Machi has manged to gain a small group of loyal fans from all her art stuff & her apprences on her loved ones social media), Kakeru also later uploads a video where they help Machi rainbow dye her buzz cut, (she later explores many diffrent types of buzz cut patterns such as flowers & geometric shapes but, at Kimi's insistence, gets them done by a professional)

11. She recycles & D.Y.I's like crazy (Momiji started singing Do Re Mi from The Sound Of Music after she told him that her new dress was actually made from curtains & Yuki cried when she gave him a little rat plushie made from felt, after he came clean to her about the curse)

12. She almost never wears an apron while working on her art because she likes getting messy

13. When her & Yuki go out to eat she loves things like fondoe (both the chocolate & cheese kind), eat N mess & is genreually just a fan of finger food & it becomes a tradition between her & Yuki (& later Mutsuki) to go on a stroll through the park after thier meal & (if it's autumn) look for piles of leaves to jump in (Machi & Yuki also like playing a game where they try to look for the weirdest looking leaf to give eachother & whoever wins gets to pick what they'll eat for dinner that evening & the looser has to cook it, Mutsuki is the "impartial" judge)

14. Machi is amazing at scrapbooking & collarge making (Tohru is more of a dream journal kind of girl)

15. When it's Summer her, Yuki & Mutsuki go down to the beach to see who can find the weirdest looking rocks (the less impressive ones often get used in Machi's art work, the coolest ones Mutsuki gets to keep & any that are too perfect get tossed back in the ocean & Mutsuki likes to score the splashes they make on how big/loud they are)

16. She loves helping Yuki out with gardening for lots of reasons (it's therapeutic & she loves seeing Yuki happy) but she can't deny it's also just fun getting muddy

17. Machi, thanks to Kakeru, devolpes a love of paint ball (but instead of using guns they just throw the paint at eachother like in 10 Things I Hate About You because apparently the gun pellets actually hurt) & will bring it up as an activity idea to her loved ones any chanse she gets

18. Decorates as much of her flat (& later her home with Yuki & Mutsuki) with Mogeta merchandise, random things she collects & her own art work as a big fuck you to her bitch "you have 0 personality/hobbies or talents" of a mother

19. Kisa (happily) & Hiro (reluctantly) introduce Machi to the magic of glitter

20. Machi & Rin eventually become proper friends due to bonding over being abounded by their asshole parents & one of the things they like to do together is work on thier seprete art peices while listening to music (Machi dosn't do any of her "aggressive" art, like plate smashing, around Rin though thanks to Yuki & Haru warnings)

21. When stuff gets to be too much & none of thier other coping strategies are working (like watching Mogeta stoned- which Kisa, Tohru & Momiji do not partake in) Machi & Haru bond by going to rage rooms together to destroy shit & scream (Haru obviously dosn't want Rin around for any of that though so Momiji, Tohru, Kagura or Hana will often take the opportunity to hang out with her, one time Yuki offered & it wasn't bad but it was definitely awkward as they had never really hung out without Haru before & Haru teases her for ages afterwards about her ending up liking Yuki once she actually spent some time with him which, like the precious tsundere she is, Rin will forever deny)

22. (I actually made a whole seprete post about this ages ago but now it seems to have vanished so in case other Machi fans are unable to find it l'll add it here) on the days that it's supposed to snow but dosn't Yuki takes her (& later Mutsuki) skating so she can enjoy scratching up the perfectly smooth ice (they would have gone on double dates with Tohru & Kyo if Tohru wasn't freaked out at the idea of having blades on her shoes & Kyo hadn't claimed to "not trust" ice, he's dislike comes from all the times Kagura had forced him to ice skate with her on the lake near Kazuma's place in the winter when they were kids, so they would instead go with Haru & Momiji - they had thought about going with Haru x Rin & Kakeru x Kormaki once but he proudly revealed that he'd been banned from thier local ice rink years ago for trying "perfectly safe" Olympic level stunts in he's attempt to recreate one of he's favriote episodes of Power Rangers, much to he's fiancee's anger, & Machi reminded Yuki that though Haru & Kakeru were fine with eachother Rin isn't reall able to stand Kakeru for longer than 5 minuites)

There is this childhood phase where a kid tries very hard to do everything like their parents... Including clothing. Surprise ! When their parents call for dinner, S/O and Skelly Dad's child come entirely dress like dad (actually... these are dad's clothes...) and has more or less paint his face to look like a skeleton. He's actually acting like everything is perfectly normal. How will the main 10 react ?

Sans: he’ll carry on like it’s completely normal and will even start calling the kid by his own name. “Can you pass the salt sans?” “Here you go sans!!” “Thanks sans”

Papyrus: “OHMYGOSH HOLD STILL!!!” Kid has done it now. Looks like papyrus if whipping out the phone to capture this adorable moment lol. It’s perfect scrapbook AND future blackmail material!

Star: he’s doing his best to act normal, but Star keeps choking on every bite of food because he keeps giggling too much. This is just so stinking cute!! It’ll also prompt Star to retell that one time baby honey dressed up in his battle body and went to training with alphys for him when he was sick. Poor star was rudely woken up by a phone call from alphys laughing so hard she was sobbing

Honey: He’s squealing over how cute his kid is right now and will go full househusband mode with fussing over rolling up their sleeves and making sure the face paint doesn’t smudge as they eat

Red: he just kinda goes on awkwardly with dinner and will later wonder where he went wrong. Red can’t decide if he’s amused or embarrassed right now

Edge: he’s just standing there frozen from his internal battle. Be embarrassed or succumb to his kids adorableness. In the end the cuteness wins and edge will play along. He’ll even show his kid how to fix thier tie

Mal: he’s more annoyed but that’s because his kid came in wearing every single piece of jewelry they could get thier gremlin little hands on. They’re a walking disco ball right now. Mal is more interested in making sure his pieces aren’t broken

Cash: he’s super suspicious right now. If his kid is imitating his look, then chances are they’ve also been copying some of his favorite pranks. Cash is acting like he’s walking on glass all day lol

Oak: he internally cringes each time he looks at kid because they tried to copy the hole on his head. Oak won’t express his discomfort though and will let them have thier fun.

Willow: tiny toddler + 8 foot skeleton = a walking and talking pile of clothes lol. This is beyond oversized on that kid. You can barley even see the top of thier head under willows shirt. When he sees, he laughs so hard he cries

The Picani Family

the Picanis have a day once every week where they all watch a few episodes of Avatar together. tis law.

Emile is genderfluid!! So sometimes they're Patton and Dee's dad, sometimes they're thier mom, sometimes they're their ren. Patton and Dee tend to just call them their dad though, just cause it's easier to explain to the other kids. And it doesn't cause Emile any issues so they don't mind. They were a pronoun braclet a lot. (tbh they're really just happy their kids sees them as a role model.) (He/Him, She/Her, They/Them, depends on the day)

Patton likes to play with his stuffed animals a lot!

his favorite blanket is his weighted blanket

Dee is HoH so the entiree family knows ASL and he wears hearing aids.

Dee's very passionate about octonauts and his favorite episode was the coral reef snake one. (his favorite character is tweak)

Patton and Dee are bio siblings but they're both adopted by Emile. Emile had a partner during the adoption but they broke up a few years later and he(the partner) never offically had any custody.

at the start of the storyline (maybe writing a fic) they just moved and Emile and him broke up.

Emile keeps pictures of them in his wallet and Will talk about them whenever someone asks.

Emile is a children's therapist in this AU, and specifically works with kids who deal with learning disabilities.

The Kingsley Family

When Remy was like. 17 he got in a relationship with this one girl and they did the do. When the twins were born, she left. He hasn't heard from her since.

His family wasn't that supportive except his Great Aunt Becca who's a wonderful woman. She lived with her partner for years until she died a year or two before Remy moved in.

So they all live with her now.

Roman likes to sew little costumes for his stuffed animals. Remy helps.

Roman begged Remy to let him join dance classes. Remy doesn't currently have the money to take so he's saving up to let him.

Remus is in that weird kid phase? You know the one where they're weirdly obsessed with like. Death and witches and shit? He's in that phase.

He also makes "potions" and shit outta stuff in the kitchen. 50% of them are probably poisonous. Remy lets him drink absolutely none of them.

Remy's Bi and proud. He hasn't really dated anyone since he was 17 but. He's open to dating again. But only if his boys like them.

Remy works at a few different places. He's the manager at a coffee shop when the boys are at school and at night when they sleep he works at a gas station. Neither has great pay but he's doing his best.

Roman and Remus have very active imaginations. It has led to them waking up Remy or Becca due to monsters in the closet more than they like.

Disney! And! Pixar! Movie! Nights!

Remy and Aunt Becca have most definitely made scrapbooks of the boys together. (even though Remy might deny it to keep up his tough guy image)

The Cogsworth Family

Brian showed the boys some of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Logan fell in love with the show immediately. Virgil doesn't like it as much but he likes to see Logan excited so he watches it too.

Virgil freaking Loves Gravity Falls though. He likes to try and find monsters in the apartment complex and nearby park. He swears he heard a hide behind once. (Brian played the sound effect on his phone and placed a speaker in a tree to make him happy)

Logan only likes certain textures with clothes so Brian makes sure that when they go clothes shopping Logan feels them first.

Logan has a prosthetic foot (it doesn't show in the family portrait because his socks and shoes cover it up) ((he also has a barbie doll because her leg was a prosthetic))

Virgil likes to draw a lot, especially monsters and stuff that he sees on tv. It's really cute looking half of the time but sometimes it kinda worries Brian.

Brian is Trans! And Aro/Ace. The kids are his. He had them pre-transition. His family wasn't supportive of him transitioning so he doesn't really talk to them. Has been on T for 5 years. (He/Him)

Brian's a bit of a space nerd so he likes to watch documentaries on them and the kids will often curl up on him and watch too.

Brian's compiter has a metric fuckton of baby photos of the boys!

They go to the park because he tries to keep them as healthy as possible and hopefully his kids will make friends. Both are painfully shy.

He's a security guard/Janitor for Walmart's l a t e shifts.

The Sanders Family

Thomas isn't adopted y e t but god is Anton working on the paper work for that because bitch that's their son now and they love him.

Thomas still is the goofy guy we know, happy, enjoys Disney, likes to sing and stuff.

Since Thomas is old enough to join the school choir he did and he loves it.

Anton and Thomas met the others because Emile was Thomas's therapist and once Anton asked Emile the best thing he could do for their kid and Emile commented on how that they knew it was scary, cause they had the same thoughts when they adopted their kids.

Emile is no longer Thomas's therapist due to him no longer being impartial since that's his kids friend and that's kinda iffy so now their friend is.

Anton is nb and pan-romantic ace. (He/Him, They/Them)

Both of them are kinda chaotic at times and sometimes you can find the two of them trying desperately to bake but there's batter on the ceiling and flour in Anton's hair. (they can't bake but anton can cook so it's okay)

When Thomas gets adopted all the others will be invited to see the signing.

Thomas didn't get to watch most Disney movies while in Foster care so Anton is showing him everything.

He also didn't get to see the Barbie movies so guess what else he's watching because Anton insists.

Anton still has an appreciation for fine arts and has a painting hanging up in his Living room framed and right next to it in just as fancy a frame is a drawing Thomas made. (it's a family portrait that Thomas made with stick figures. When he gave it to Anton, Anton c r i e d.)

Thomas has two friends from before he writes to, Joan and Tayln. He writes them letters every few days. They write back and everytime he gets one he's like!!!!!

Anton's the most well off of anyone in the squad so he tends to give gifts to the others when they find something.

All of them

The Parent Group are all very supportive of their kids interests, and also have meetups while the boys have playdates where the drink they're preferred hot drink (Emile likes Tea, Remy and Anton like Coffee, and Brian likes Apple Cider) and bitch about the shitty PTA moms and work (not emile though he loves his job and has patient confidentiality so... no)

Roman and Logan both love Percy Jackson but in different ways. Logan read all the books. Roman read the comic book adaptions and listened to the Lightning Thief Musical.

Virgil and Patton like to hunt for monsters together in the apartment complex and park but everytime it happens they both get a little scared and run if something actually looks spooky.

When all the kids became friends they had Patton teach them ASL secretly for a couple of months to surprise Dee. They showed Dee and he c r i e d. Happy tears of course but he was so surprised that all of them learned that for him.

Virgil, Dee, Remus, and Roman all have the same Recess break on the little kids playground so they play pretend together a lot. Usually it's Roman and Virgil vs Remus and Dee, but sometimes they switch it up.

Patton, Thomas, and Logan are the Big Kids, but also are kinda the weird kids too so they don't have much friends outside of the group. But it's okay, because they got each other and they like to hang out.

Patton has punched some kids cause they made fun of either his friends or Dee or maybe his Dad. He will throw hands. Logan might hold him back. Thomas will hold him back but only after a punch or two.

Remy once joked about having one brain cell in front of the kids and all the kids who weren't his got very alarmed and started to make him realize he was smart but Roman and Remus went: yeah you do. He's never been so heavily burned before or since.

Roman and Remus don't do the weird twins finishing each other's sentences thing but Logan and Virgil do.

Patton still makes puns but not good ones because kid's humor is nonsensical so half of the time he'll go up to Logan and Thomas and try them on them and every time they're both like "???? what did you just say????????"

They will all go and do fashion shows where Roman and Remus will take the others and drape them in sheets and cutains and blankets and have everyone walk the fake runway while someone sits out and judges.

Remus, Dee, and Virgil try to do magic together. It doesn't always go well but they try.

Roman, Patton, and Logan will try to play demigod but Patton has no clue what he's doing.

Roman and Remus showed Thomas some Disney sing alongs he could play on his tablet. Anton thinks their son has a lovely singing voice but also. they doesn't like hearing him sing at 6 am when they're barely awake. Can someone hold a grudge against a kindergartner? Ask Anton.

Idk if you ever look at asks but I was just wondering if you'd considered keeping the comics of your baby after they're born in like a folder hard saved on your computer/external. Idk why but I feel like that would make a neat scrapbook/memory album once they get older. Kind of experience thier childhood through a different scope.

Haven't thought of scrapbooking them, but they'll definitely be around on my hard drives for life. Hope I don't embarrass her too badly LOL 🤣

So I learn to Bullet Journal. I'm not a huge journaler about my feelings and what not. But learning to Bullet Journal has helped me keep my life on track. It has also given me an outlet to vent my feelings and emotions if I do want to. It's a fun way to be creative and still keep My Crazy Life in check. These are just a couple pages from my bullet Journal.

I started bullet journaling in March and didn't really get into it until May. YouTube has a lot of different YouTubers takes on bullet journaling. You can do it super simple like a day planner or whatever type of tracking style you want your bullet journal to do or you can just do a traditional bullet Journal. Which they have videos was about as well. But I liked the idea of a tracking bullet Journal type style. Therefore that's what I am doing.

As I go of course I find things I want to add and that's why if you actually look at my entire book it's an organized chaos. Next year when I make my new journal I will know what I want to track, how many pages each tracking section will need and so on and so forth. I have seen some amazing journals! People have a lot of talents I do not have artistically. Which is fine I love my journal for what it is.

Many youtubers I watch have different photos in thier journals and stuff like that kind of a mini scrapbook type deal but I have seen others that werent as complex and still did the trick!

I bought my elephant notebook for $14.00 at Indigo Book store here in Saskatoon! I love it and I bought my multi coloured pens at Walmart for $12.97.

Suggestions for first timers

- get a ruled or lined book first unless you are an awesome free hand artist.

- always do pencil and then go over it with your fun coloured pens

-check to make sure your pens don't bleed through the paper. Using the last back page would be best for this.

- be patient. The first time it may not look beautiful but as you get better you will find it easier and a style that you like and works for you!

I have a strong urge to draw a cute family photo, cause I've been thinking about how on Earth I would get both boys to behave long enough for the pic to be taken.

Jules would probably be good for it, but like, half a second before it's taken he'd make face, this goes on for every attempt.

Reg would refuse and say it's lame, but i manage to convince to join by saying Vader can be in it too. Bad idea, that dog doesn't want to be in as much as Reg. Vader is constantly growling and squirming, while Reg refuses to smile.

Somehow, thanks to a miracle, they get one, ONE decent picture, and I frame it and put front in center on the fireplace mantle. The 20 or so rejected photos get put into a scrapbook, I need them in case I have the urge to embarrass them when thier friends visit.

Week 11 Scrapbook: What Up When it Ain’t in the US?

Ming tian ji de ai shang wo [Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow] (Taiwan)

Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow is a Taiwanese romantic comedy released back in 2013, and had a limited release in the States in 2014. The story primarily follows Weichung, a man who begins to question his feelings towards his current lifestyle as a husband and father after meeting a handsome young man named Thomas in his workplace. We learn that Weichung used to have a partake in a gay lifestyle with a group of friends (pictured in last photo), but it is explained that he gave it up to satisfy his parents’ final wishes to start a family, hoping that his past feelings would go away once he had a wife. Much of the plot revolves around his internal struggle between keeping his current life in tact, and wanting to follow his heart in pursuing Thomas and returning to his old life. The major climax of the film is when Weichung’s wife, Feng, learns of his affair and her struggle to understand what will happen to their home life. The two had a child together, a son named Awan, who is seen to have difficulty interacting with children his age. This results in Feng’s parents pressuring her to have another child, as a way to help Awan learn to socialize and make friends at school. With the stress of needing to please her parents and the shock of learning of her husband’s past, Feng goes through a fit of confusion and denial, cumulating in a karaoke scene where she renditions The Shirelles song that the film is named after. By the end of the film, not only does she come to accept Weichung and his feelings, she asks for a divorce. Feng explains that, despite she and Weichung still having a close bond due to the amount of time they’ve spent together, the two will never be truly happy in their current lives with one another, and she wishes for him to find the person that he can live a life he won’t regret and be proud of.

The ending shot of the movie is of the two walking side-by-side out of the wedding reception of Weichung’s sister, Weichung holding a sleeping Awan. The crowd of attendees are doing what is usually done to a wedding couple as they exit the church building, throwing flower petals and confetti over their heads, clapping and cheering “Good Luck” as they walk on by. As the building doors open, Weichung and Feng look at one another and smile, almost looking content at what they’ve decided, not afraid of what the future has in store for them. The ex-couple walk out towards a white light, and the film ends, leaving the viewer questioning what will happen next, and how will the people in their lives react to such change?

Ek Ladki Ko Dekka Tot Aisa Laga [How I Felt When I Saw That Girl] (India)

Released earlier this year in February, How I Felt When I Saw That Girl is an Indian Hindu-language film centering around Sahil Mirza, an up-and-coming playwright who meets and instantly falls in love with Sweety Chaudhary, the daughter of a famous clothing company owner. Much of the advertisements for the film refers to the story as an “unexpected love story,” and cut the trailers in a way that the “unexpected” part of the film’s slogan refers to Sahil, a Muslim man, and Sweety, a Hindu woman who comes from an extremely conversative family. However, it seems that that was exactly what the filmmakers were hoping for, as it is revealed halfway through the film that the unexpected romance wasn't between the two main leads, but of Sweety and her secret girlfriend, Kuhu, whom she would secretly meet with in fear of her family’s rejection.

Sahil, upon learning the truth, decides to help Sweety in coming out to her family through the form of a musical play, with Sweet and Kuhu playing the main love interest. The two are outed by Sweety’s brother in front of their father and grandmother, as well as a small portion of the townspeople. After storming home in denial, Sweety’s father goes through Sweety’s desk and find her journals, in which she described her feelings of being alone and the judgment she faced from her peers over her orientation. The play goes on as scheduled, with no revisions made to the script, resulting in half of the audience leaving the theatre in protest of watching two women fall in love onstage. During the climax, as the actors pull the two lovers apart from one another, calling them names and trying to find ways to “cure” them, Sweety’s father storms the stage, proclaiming to the audience that their love wasn’t something they could change, that he would accept his daughter and her girlfriend, and asks the audience to do the same. The scene ends with Sweety’s brother walking out, still rejecting his sister; their grandmother still feeling conflicted over the current situation, but was willing to work through her biases and accept them; and thier father saying to Sweety “You take a lot more from me. I also like women.”

in this 2014 Mexican film, Four Moons follows four male individuals across four different generations as they go through life, falling in love and learning to accept their feelings, themselves and others of their own. There’s the story of pre-teen Mauricio, who begins to develop feelings for his close school friend; Fito and Leo, two childhood friends who reconnect in college and begin a secret relationship; Hugo and Andrés, a committed couple who are struggling to keep their relationship intact, as one of them finds a new man who fulfills his needs; and Joaquín, a long-married elderly man who begins an affair with a young male hustler.

Each person has something they wish to hide away from the public eye, be it something about their partner they don’t wish their acquittances to see (Hugo’s negative view on Andrés’ flamboyant behavior), their feelings about the one they like (Mauricio), or their entire relationship (Fito/Leo). Each couple deals with real-life issues many couples, both straight and LGBT, go through: from a love spark slowly fading over the years, to the fear of being found out and shunned by family. The film doesn’t shy away from showcasing the emotional moments between characters, which is refreshing to see considering how Mexican culture views masculinity and what it takes to be a man. The male characters are very open and vulnerable when displaying their love, fears and desires to their other male counterparts, with some interactions being the catalyst of one couple’s relationship or another conflict.

1. when you looked over your shoulder

She made him feel as though he was enough. ‘I’ll never be good enough’ for you he’d told Betty. Yet Cheryl loved him: that reckless, sometimes selfish kid from the the west side, both his talents and flaws. 

They danced the night away and drank too much. He held her hair back when she was throwing up. They were both trashed and queasy, but together and despite sitting on the cold tiles of the bathroom like sick puppies it was still a night well spent with her.

Then she smiled over her shoulder and for a minute he was stone cold sober; she was without a doubt the most beautiful person in his entire world. Even slightly pale from losing her liquor and smudged make-up. Beautiful not for her slender frame or long scarlet locks, the sweet lipstick she wore and large brown eyes. Those were all gorgeous, but it was the inside of her that glowed — goodness and laughter and vulnerability — that shown out when he looked at her. Few people possessed such a complex life, but the charisma to make it look easy. He pulled her closer to his chest. She asked him to stay over. Archie chuckled and pressed a kiss to her temple. She probably felt better now that her body had purged itself from the countless shots and mixers they’d had. 

“I already told you I think you should get some rest.” Still, it wasn’t like he could drive home. Besides, falling asleep with her face tucked into the crook of his shoulder and warm from being under the blankets with her was one of his favorite things. They could wake up with pounding headaches together. 

“But I’ll stay,” he caved, “after all - where else would I ever want to be?”  

2. I knew I loved you then, but you’d never know.

I love you. It was the first thought in his head as they both inhaled together after collapsing from the stars. It scared him to think that; so clear and distinct without question. He hadn’t realized he was falling for her that hard. There were signs. Kisses he became addicted to and the hope she’d be the first person he saw in the hall at school. When had those added up — with everything else — to this feeling? Apparently in this moment. Later he’d tell her the simple truth: he didn’t sleep with people he didn’t love. The minute she’d pulled Archie towards the bed his heart knew it was hers, even if his mind hadn’t quite caught up. He watched her lashes flutter as they caught their breathe and bent down and kissed her. Gentle and slow to prolong the moment. I love you I love you. 

But then she was sliding away from him to get dressed. He didn’t understand — was she leaving? Archie wanted to keep her in his arms and whisper stories or hum songs as they toiled away the hours until dawn. It quickly became clear she did not feel the same way about him. You’re good Archie, if a little high strung. I’ll text you. 

Archie looked away. He crossed his arms and let her walk out. He didn’t chase after her. He played it cool, even though he was so scared of letting go. Was everyone he loved going to leave him?

What had it all been for? He knew he needed her, but now he’d never show it. 

3. I’ll wake you up with some breakfast in bed.

Most people went to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower. They went from tourist spot to spot, spending money and snapping enough pictures to fill a hundred scrapbooks. Archie Andrews didn’t fly over the ocean to visit cathedrals or museums. He walked cobblestone streets and picked up of the language to get by for one reason: her.  

Archie got up early; the light of dawn just starting to filter through the lace curtains. He paused before heading to the kitchen to look at her. He remembered staying in that hotel the first night they’d arrived in California and looking across the pillows at her in the sunlight. Wondering what it would be like to wake up to her by his side every morning. Sadly with thier different colleges it wasn’t every morning, but right now this was enough. Gentle fingers brushed a strand of hair away from her face. 

Bare feet padded to the kitchen. All the ingredients were there to make her favorite: eggs benedict. The french press coffee maker was fancier than the old man coffee machine he had on his desk in his dorm. He wasn’t sure whether it was the magic of the press or Parisian coffee that made the best cup of coffee he’d ever had. 

Archie balanced everything on a wooden breakfast tray and retraced his steps back to the bedroom. He woke Cheryl up gently after sitting on her side of the bed. She smiled at him sleepily and sat up. 

“Morning sleeping beauty,” he pressed a cup of hot coffee into her pale hands and kissed her head. He thanked his lucky stars for that night she kissed him in his worn out jeep. It was the catalyst for the rest and best part of his life. 

4. I wanna dance with you right now.

She looked as beautiful as ever. What else would be expected of Cheryl Blossom at prom? His held her close to him as they danced under the twinkling lights. She was the only one who made him feel this way. Archie’s cheek rested against the side of her head, eyes closed.. 

“I’m so in love with you. I hope you know.” He said softly as other couples twirled around them.

Her love was more than it’s weight in gold. They’d come so far since those first months together. High school love was for the movies. For so many it flickered out after tossed graduation caps and distance separated colleges. It was cliche to say that they were different, but he loved her in a way that outlived brick walls and ringing school bells. Adoration etched into his bones and sparked between thier lips as he pulled back and kissed her. Her love washed over him like ocean waves. It had no expiration date. 

5. you were always there for me when I needed you the most.

‘This one’s dedicated to the girl I love.’ was the intro to the next song in the set. She was there in the front row; exactly where she was every concert. Cheryl was and had always been there for him when he needed her the most. Getting through Julliard and surviving the months of trying to crack into the music business. Even now on tour. She made waking up on that bus and living on the road worth it. He caught her bright smile and flashed one back. 

Despite protests from his manager in his ear piece he hopped off the stage. It was easy to keep up the song with his guitar to strum as he walked past security guards and towards the fans and family in the crowd.  

“I’m gonna love you til you my lungs give out, I promise til death we part like in our vows. So I wrote this song for you, now everybody knows that it’s just you and me til we’re grey and old.”

Archie relied on his guitar strap to hold the instrument as he slung it around to his back in favor of holding her face and kissing her right then and there. Everything else faded. The bright lights of the stage behind him and the packed stadium. Cheryl was all that mattered. In this moment and always.
