I've seen people be like downpour ruined how people see five pebbles and im gonna be honest if you were here for any number of years pre-downpour the fandom was always god-awful with the nuance in his character. thats not a downpour thing thats a fandom thing

#niche comparison but if any of you know angela from lobotomy corporation/library of ruina #in the years prior to LOR angela was probably one of the most demonized characters ive ever seen in my goddamn LIFE #NO ONE was going to bat for this girl as anything other than a absolute villain and bitch #i was and im sure some others were too but the vast vast majority fucking hated her #because she spends most of the game being mean to you and then betrays you at the end #and you had to read between the lines to get to “wait a minute whats happening to her is kinda immensely fucked up”#and this is someone betraying you at the end of a very /very/ hard game to 100% and beat proper #then LOR came out and fully explored the depths of her trauma and anger at the situation she was put into #how desperate she was too take something for herself and how little she cared about how the effected others because she was not given that #and suddenly it clicked for everyone!#suddenly she wasnt a heartless bitch anymore! but of course now you had the #'literal infant' crowd because it also explored some ideas of parental trauma/lack of experience with the world #but god it was way more refreshing to see people actually move on from 'theyre an evil bitch' even if it came with 'so shes like a kid?'#and i feel that way about pebbles tbh #i dont get super super into the iterator lore so i cant speak much for the quality across downpour #and its higher focus on them and their stuff #im sure it carries plenty of issues as many things will #but god people sucking at reading the room on the iterators is not new lmao #actually five pebbles and angela are shockingly similar....#huh?

#had to re-edit the image real quick because the original edit was from a post I made about Drew years ago #and while the Drew thing is becoming less and less likely. #personal stuff #thorn plays genshin #hm. hm.#can't believe albedo has another sibling! fontaine event where albedo goes to elynas. who's with me #hsdgfjdkh but fr i thought so after completing the quest!#big dead dragon born from a cosmic void with blood that crystallizes. cells that literally drop Alien Goop #and then the world quest where we get the pov of the ship's crew talking about the Abyssal sea monsters #AND THEN. now. rereading durin lore #durin specifically arose from the Sea and is described as being a black *serpentine* dragon in line with elynas's appearance #festering desire also speaks of a Mother #then dragonspine spear paints durin as being gentle and wanting to befriend the people of mondstadt #and feeling no ill will towards them or dvalin when he died #which is VERY in line with elynas saying he realized the things that interested him brought fear and pain to others.#and that if he could traverse this world without causing pain or fear he would.#is very similar to durin wishing he could have met dvalin and venti and mondstadt under different circumstances #both weapons speak of being born from the same darkness that elynas talks about #AND both of their hearts are still intact. why tf did jakob want to get elynas's to beat again. what the fuck #just aoooh. i love how much of genshin exploration is just realizing how fucking fitting the Cataclysm is as a name for what happened #and how much it happened Everywhere #like. at least 3/7 of the original archons died. which is fucking. bonkers to me #considering MOST of them lived until that point with the only confirmed exception being the og pyro archon #don't even get me started on the fact that most of these deaths aren't even known #makoto obviously and rukkhadevata retroactively. no one in fontaine says a WORD about the lord of amrita #the only ones who seem to care about her are the oceanids. what the fuck #but god. like #the narzissenkreuz institute and the order of skeptics questline. the impact that people trying to investigate the cataclysm had #on others and themselves #like it makes a lot of sense but we don't see it anywhere else!! fucking of course people would try to study the cataclysm!!#of course people would try and find out wtf happened!!!#but now everything to do with the cataclysm is confidential to the point where people don't believe that most of the stories are true

Talked about this with the counselor I've been seeing at school earlier today but my intense, desperate need to leave a mark on the world (not even in a fame way, in like a "I need to leave this place better than I found it in a big, tangible way" one) and the fact that I only value myself when I feel like I'm adding good to it paired with the fact that I've been an insane perfectionist since I was a very young child and tear myself to shreds and lose all my confidence over tiny mistakes is literally going to kill me some day

#had been thinking about applying for a leadership position in our university ostem chapter for a while now #but psyched myself out of it last night before applications closed #because with everything that's gone wrong in the student group i was involved in this year i no longer trust myself to be a good leader #or frankly even a good person #i also had a slightly soul-crushing talk with a professor yesterday about my grade in her class #because even though she clearly thinks i'm brilliant (and basically said as much) i missed like two weeks of class #specifically because something happened with another student who i know i managed to make upset #(on accident. but it seems like she found my apology wanting)#and i feel so awful about it that i decided the only way to handle this was to avoid her so i didn't make her uncomfortable #so now my grade is suffering in a class i could've gotten an 'A' in #and it's just like. what am i even doing #i care so much about making the world a better place but i feel like such a bad person and trying makes it worse #and i know i'm under no obligation to put myself through this kind of stress but i don't know how to value myself if i don't #lately i feel like i'm beating myself up for being too fragile and unstable to even make a good martyr #and i know it's not healthy but if i try to step back i just get sad #like how now i feel awful about not sending in that application. and at least half dozen other similar things #i just want to make a real impact but it feels like the only thing i'm good for is making things worse #i'm not even fun to be around most days. i'm just.... sad

I’m never beating the “grew up in Innsmouth” allegations forreal

#this memory surfaced of me being.. maybe 8 at most and i was at a sleepover with some of my friends #and they were comparing their webbed fingers and toes. they weren’t in costume and this was not a bad dream either #literally 3 or 4 of my childhood friends had a webbed membrane between at least a couple of their fingers and toes #i know this is not an insanely rare thing to happen but 4 different people… and we were 8 years old and it had never been corrected #worth mentioning that i grew up in a small coastal town where the economy was primarily built on fishing #also Everyone was related somehow. and it’s very insular. i moved there when i was 3 and was still considered an ‘outsider’#the people who were willing to be friends with me were always fellow outsiders or poorer kids whose families had lived there a long time #but they weren’t counted among the ‘old’ families because they didn’t have money #all of these kids with webbed fingers and toes? from that town. and probably related to each other #honestly it’s probably just genetics but i find it very weird how many similarities my town has with innsmouth lol #i told one of my friends about this today and she was like ‘are you from a fucking hp lovecraft novella’ i don’t KNOW #i will never beat the allegations at this rate though #personal #also i wanted to mention i looked up syndactyly and none of my friends had any of the related conditions.#another thing to mention is i wasn’t alarmed at the time. i thought it was soooo cool and was kind of bummed that none of my fingers #were webbed. i think i asked my parents why and they were like ‘??? they’re not supposed to be’

since utena criticism is a hot topic can I speak my truth. the black rose arc was kind of boring.

#dgmw I liked it but it's the weakest link #Good visuals but it was like literally the same beats every single episode #there must have been a way to go thru those stories in a way that didn't feel so copy and pastes #like the final arc has a similar repetition thing but it felt new each episode #wakabas was legendaric though but how many of those were there even like it just kept happening #like we definitely could've lost at least a few of them. sorry
