idk. i feel like theres some nuance to be had about preston & marcy long in a similar light. being annoyed by preston's presentation in the game is a perfectly fine thing in my book. another example of "i like this (character), but theyre not a good (character)". i do this with both preston and x6. you dont have to go into how preston is actually secretly a well written groundbreaking character to like him. its fine.
being discomforted by and not wanting to engage bethesda's horrible execution of characters of color & WOMAN characters of color specifically is like. a totally understandable perspective as well. marcy long in-game pisses me off and makes me sad because shes a piss poor characterization written by a bunch of white men who probably only thought "haha what if we made this person who survived a tragedy a total bitch haha wouldnt that be funny and edgy" when they decided on anything about her. it sucks and makes me feel bad.

its not that I dislike 90s Rei cus she's "not like her manga counterpart at all." i dislike 90s Rei cus shes rude and catty, even worse so in the DiC dub too. If Manga Rei had that persinality (she does kinda get it later) I'd still dislike her cus I hate these kind of characters.
Manga Rei is just harder to like as well but for a different reason: shes supposedly hard to read, which can make a character hard to like relate to or at least just Like. but that's an issue cus she doesn't have enough screentime to determine who she is as a character.
sometimes my dislike for the 90s is not cus "its not like the manga at all!" sometimes its deeper like,, the characterization and writing sucks ass sometimes.

okay so, from what we’ve seen from vol2 trailer so far, it kinda looks like the fruity four plus the kids are driving somewhere in the Munsons' trailer could also be Eddie’s van though, doesn’t look large enough to be a trailer so i can be wrong but the point still stands and it got me wondering whether it’d affect the gate to the Upside Down in any way and, if yes, how. theoretically it’d be neat if there was an option to drive to any destination (which in this case appears to be the Creels’ house, with Steve, Robin, and Nancy going there in the Upside Down while Max, Lucas, and Erica reach it in, well, the Upside Up, as Eddie and Dustin guard the gate??) and be able to enter the Upside Down exactly where needed except now that the entire realm is stuck in 1983, the trailer would most likely just remain where it is over there. well, unless two people would drive it in the same place (or not necessarily the same) in the both realms. doesn’t seem to be the case here but an intriguing possibility on its own, at least looks like it for me
also curious whether it’d be feasible to use walkietalkies between dimensions (or even within just Upside Down) without El’s powers but well ti already got too rambly on here

i like.... obviously am just tossing strickler & co. into shows that take place in the past because it's fun but i forgot that lost world is the specific brand of batshit that REALLY makes it work.
for example, lost world's plateau has an unseen city of avalon that is noted to be a place untouched by time and has some really mystical capabilities.
toa has camelot as a fucking floating castle surrounded by time travel.

Hello! I love your blog! Ive been trying (I know we dont try but that's the word I can think of for this rn) to manifest but I'm having a little but of an issue. I know a lot of people say think in your favor, embody the person in imagination and dismiss the 3d. And I've been but I havent received my manifestation in the 3d for months. Ive also heard people say to feel the wish fulfilled but I've been on strong medication so I can't really "feel" in a sense. I know I can manifest, I practice witchcraft but a part of me is still doubting the law. I know that's a lot and I'm sorry I was just really hoping I'd have my desires before the new year.
Hey darling
Thank you for the question
I mean, if you want to check the 3D, it's your right, but do we really have to remind ourselves every 2 seconds that we have got slippers at home? (Just an example), No! we don't, because we know we have them, even if you are 2 hours away from home and have different shoes on you still are IN THE KNOWING that you have got those slippers.
Can you remember my cat example? If not, here is the link
When we talk about a feeling we don't mean an emotion
Emotion is the byproduct
Emotions are neither good nor bad
Emotions are just there
But FEELING is different
Feeling = inner knowing
You don't need to have billions in your account to walk in this world as a wealthy person (everything starts from inner knowing)
Because wealth is a mindset it's not about money
Nobody is holding you from entering a specific building and feeling like you own the building
Nobody is holding you back from experiencing whatever you want within
Also about the 3D:
- You are free to acknowledge what's going on in the 3D, don't put your human wants and needs on hold "just because you are ' manifesting' " live your life. You aren't going to "ignore" the 3D. What you are going to do is "become indifferent towards the said circumstances." this means that you are simply not going to "identify" with them or let them get in your and your desires' way.
- also just be in the present moment. That's all that you can truly do, be in the present moment, and know that you and your desires are ONE. You wouldn't be "desiring" something if it wasn't "meant" for you
- You aren't "ignoring" you are just "choosing" to see things differently and well according to your awareness things shift
- When you order a coffee, do you go up to the barista every 2 seconds and ask where your coffee is? I am pretty sure you don't
Your assumptions about yourself and your reality shift your character and your world
So it's like, "If you see and treat yourself like a queen, that's how you are going to be perceived" like is there anything else you need to do ? No because being a queen is a STATE of mind/ a state of being
It's simple
Neville has 3 really powerful sayings about this topic:
1. Doubt is the only force capable of disturbing the seed or impression; to avoid a miscarriage of so wonderful a child, walk in secrecy through the necessary interval of time that it will take the impression to become an expression. Tell no man of your spiritual romance. Lock your secret within you in joy, confident, and happy that someday you will bear the son of your lover by expressing and possessing the nature of your impression. Then will you know the mystery of “God said, Let us make man in our image.
2. So go out wisely today – go out determined to become more selective, more discreet in your choice of ideas you will entertain and single out the idea that would bless an individual and produce in yourself the emotional response that you have witnessed that state in his world, and know at that moment of response, you planted for that individual, and he is rooted in you, there is no such thing as he will not be found in your world for he is rooted in you. Everyone is rooted in you – therefore you will not lose them. It is planted relative to that being, and that being is going to harvest it, and you will know the harvest when it appears in his world. You simply plant and let the harvest take care of itself.
3. This is a reminder for you to realise that it is done. Once pregnant, you don’t need to wonder how you just need to know that you have been impregnated by your wish fulfilled. Once the seed is planted, we must let it grow in the darkness of the soil. It cannot see the sun and the darkness around it shows a reality of not being a beautiful flower but surely enough if you let it grow with the assumption of being that flower even in the darkness then it shall see the sun and bloom ever so brightly. When you stop digging up the seed after planting it, then it will have time to grow. You seek validation of how and when too often, and if you remained faithful, then you will give birth to your wish fulfilled in this physical reality. No longer will your wish fulfill miscarriage or never sprout. You will bloom in full awareness of your wish fulfilled as if it was so natural you didn’t even know it was your own creation. It was meant to be. So let it be. Your reality may be dark now, but as you remain faithful to your wish fulfilled, you shall know inside yourself that you already are that flower and that you already have given birth. When you experience it in your mind, you have already experienced it in your mind you have already experienced in your reality. When you feel it real with the sense, then it must be real in this physical world. You are God, and this is your world pushed out. A private dream for you to express yourself. Your awareness is the answer to all of your questions. As you walk through life, you are constantly dropping seeds into the soil that you walk upon. Which ones do you water with your awareness and let be? And which ones do you keep digging up?

"the powerful lawyer lifted the chin of the naive new hire 17 years his junior who he was keeping hostage in his bedroom with no phone until their eyes met"
**SPOILERS TO EP 4**
"'you look just like my dead brother', he implies sensually"
sorry guys they're gorgeous but I can't finish Devil Judge
I mean if you're going to create a tense relationship built on flagrant power abuse (seniority gap, age gap, power gap) and ALSO a weird?? incest-y?? vibe??? I think you've GOT to have some insight into what's going on in your male lead's head to unpack how those themes are being applied.
But I just don't understand Ga On. I have NO idea what's going on behind this boy's beautiful blank eyes. He goes from suspecting Yo Han and antagonizing him every chance he gets with seemingly no reason, to being unfazed when he wakes up in Yo Han's bed as a phoneless hostage (ostensibly to heal from the same explosion that left Yo Han with only a tiny aesthetic scratch). Ga On ditches his job, wanders his boss's house for three days as he "heals" and then cooks him a homemade dinner with a cute note. It's like a whole different story from the "dystopian hunger games-esque trial by mob rule game show shows dark side of internet-linked democracy as increasingly horrific punishments are approved by majority vote that ignores a weakening legal system due to group think spearheaded by fashionable charisma" that I came here for.
If there was maybe gaslighting directed towards Ga On or some kind of effort made to tie this whole arc into that story I would understand it better. I had any inkling into Ga On's thoughts on this, I would know how to categorize what's going on--is it tying in via a cautionary tale about grooming, manipulation and abuse of power? Is it supposed to be as romantic as a lot of people are saying? Is it supporting or condemning Yo Han's actions in doing this, showing how he manipulates the domestic sphere as well as the entire country? As it is, poor Ga On feels like a set piece to me. He wanders around, he stumbles across some important things, he abruptly warms up to his boss and settles into his house as a permanent guest. I think all the pieces are there to build a really compelling, claustrophobic, gothic-style creepy story a la Crimson Peak, but I can't get a read on Ga On, so it just feels uncomfortable and incoherent to me.
A senior using age and power to coerce a naive new hire into this kind of strange relationship is unsexy and problematic. It's a real dynamic and a dangerous one, which is why I'm not opposed to it being portrayed; but why I AM uncomfortable at the lack of context it's given.
In my opinion, portraying this kind of heavy yet realistic dynamic is only possible if you have more insight into what's going on in Ga On's mind as the person being slowly wrapped in the web. Yet, he doesn't offer anything that makes me believe he's thinking anything about it at all. I was rooting for him more in the beginning, but Ga On seems to me like his writer simply forgot to put any thoughts behind his sweet lil face.
ALSO?? the whole thing with Yo Han being ambiguously obsessed with Ga On because he resembles his brother makes it that much stranger (???) Again, Crimson Peak, anyone? If they went full gothic, it could totally work, just like Crimson Peak worked--AS A HORROR STORY where a naive young woman is tricked by a charming man (who has a thing for siblings, ick), trapped in his big gloomy house and then uses her wits to escape and even find sympathy for her captor due to his tragic past even as she firmly condemns his actions. But Ga On, bless his heart, isn't showing us anything that might let me connect with him as a character and figure out the context of the story. It's so frustrating, I really wanted to like this one and it has so much going for it! All the characters, arcs and sets by themselves are marvelous, so it's doubly frustrating when, to me, they just don't seem to mesh.

Good Traits Gone Bad
Exploring good traits gone bad in a novel can add depth and complexity to your characters. Here are a few examples of good traits that can take a negative turn:
1. Empathy turning into manipulation: A character with a strong sense of empathy may use it to manipulate others' emotions and gain an advantage.
2. Confidence becoming arrogance: Excessive confidence can lead to arrogance, where a character belittles others and dismisses their opinions.
3. Ambition turning into obsession: A character's ambition can transform into an unhealthy obsession, causing them to prioritize success at any cost, including sacrificing relationships and moral values.
4. Loyalty becoming blind devotion: Initially loyal, a character may become blindly devoted to a cause or person, disregarding their own well-being and critical thinking.
5. Courage turning into recklessness: A character's courage can morph into reckless behavior, endangering themselves and others due to an overestimation of their abilities.
6. Determination becoming stubbornness: Excessive determination can lead to stubbornness, where a character refuses to consider alternative perspectives or change their course of action, even when it's detrimental.
7. Optimism becoming naivety: Unwavering optimism can transform into naivety, causing a character to overlook dangers or be easily deceived.
8. Protectiveness turning into possessiveness: A character's protective nature can evolve into possessiveness, where they become overly controlling and jealous in relationships.
9. Altruism becoming self-neglect: A character's selflessness may lead to neglecting their own needs and well-being, to the point of self-sacrifice and burnout.
10. Honesty becoming brutal bluntness: A character's commitment to honesty can turn into brutal bluntness, hurting others with harsh and tactless remarks.
These examples demonstrate how even admirable traits can have negative consequences when taken to extremes or used improperly. By exploring the complexities of these traits, you can create compelling and multi-dimensional characters in your novel.
Happy writing!

HOW TO GIVE PERSONALITY TO A CHARACTER
Giving personality to a character is an essential part of character development in storytelling, whether you're writing a novel, screenplay, or creating a character for a role-playing game. Here are some steps and considerations to help you give personality to your character:
Understand Their Backstory:
Start by creating a detailed backstory for your character. Where were they born? What were their childhood experiences like? What significant events have shaped their life? Understanding their past can help you determine their motivations, fears, and desires.
2. Define Their Goals and Motivations:
Characters often become more interesting when they have clear goals and motivations. What does your character want? It could be something tangible like a job or a romantic relationship, or it could be an abstract desire like happiness or freedom.
3. Determine Their Strengths and Weaknesses:
No one is perfect, and characters should reflect this. Identify your character's strengths and weaknesses. This can include physical abilities, intellectual skills, and personality traits. Flaws can make characters relatable and three-dimensional.
4. Consider Their Personality Traits:
Think about your character's personality traits. Are they introverted or extroverted? Shy or outgoing? Kind or selfish? Create a list of traits that describe their character. You can use personality frameworks like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or the Big Five Personality Traits as a starting point.
5. Give Them Quirks and Habits:
Quirks and habits can make a character memorable. Do they have a specific way of speaking, a unique fashion style, or an unusual hobby? These details can help bring your character to life.
6. Explore Their Relationships:
Characters don't exist in isolation. Consider how your character interacts with others. What are their relationships like with family, friends, and enemies? These relationships can reveal a lot about their personality.
7. Show, Don't Tell:
Instead of explicitly telling the audience about your character's personality, show it through their actions, dialogue, and decisions. Let the reader or viewer infer their traits based on their behavior.
8. Create Internal Conflict:
Characters with internal conflicts are often more engaging. What inner struggles does your character face? These can be related to their goals, values, or past experiences.
9. Use Character Arcs:
Consider how your character will change or grow throughout the story. Character development is often about how a character evolves in response to the events and challenges they face.
10. Seek Inspiration:
Draw inspiration from real people, other fictional characters, or even historical figures. Study how people with similar traits and backgrounds behave to inform your character's actions and reactions.
11. Write Dialogue and Inner Monologues:
Writing dialogue and inner monologues from your character's perspective can help you get inside their head and understand their thought processes and emotions.
12. Consider the Setting:
The setting of your story can influence your character's personality. For example, a character who grows up in a war-torn environment may have a different personality than one raised in a peaceful, affluent society.
13. Revise and Refine:
Don't be afraid to revise and refine your character as you write and develop your story. Characters can evolve and change as the narrative unfolds.
Remember that well-developed characters are dynamic and multi-faceted. They should feel like real people with strengths, weaknesses, and complexities. As you write and develop your character, put yourself in their shoes and think about how they would react to various situations. This will help you create a compelling and believable personality for your character.
