Felling light and fluffy?

(Korea Viki)

A delightful office romance about an ex-idol who joins cubical life only to find his new boss is his first love. Others boys are sniffing around too. Operative word being "sniffing" as much of this romance involves smell. With a snappy (sometimes even raunchy) script, enjoyable sides, a pretty as peaches cast, and descent chemistry this show made up for in style what it lacked in substance. I like fluff. I loved this. I smiled every moment I was watching. With tons of rewatch potential (especially the last few eps), my only caution is this is for fans of the BL genre only, I don’t think it’ll work for anyone else. 9/10

I Feel You Linger in the Air

(Thailand grey, YT for some)

I truly loved this time travel romance. IFYLITA is an exquisite BL, from filming techniques to narrative framework (much like Until We Meet Again). Steeped in history and family drama it edges into lakorn (but no as much as To Sir With Love and with way less scenery chewing). This is an elegant and classy BL… from Thailand which normally doesn't even try for classy. The main couple (both as a pair and individuals) were excellent, particularly Bright (Yai) whose eye-work acting style is a personal favorite of mine. Pity about the ending. Oh it wasn’t that sad but it wasn’t good either. This show should easily have earned a 10 from me except that it fumbled the… erm… balls. Argh. Whatever. 9/10

Korea decided to remake, of all possible Thai BLs, Why RU? And that is exactly what we got: a short form, clean & pretty, slightly confusing, uneven chemistry, all the same tropes KBL that kind of cliff-noted the original but with none of the heat or complex relationship dynamics. I just … what world is this? Because it is BOTH bizarro land, and EXACTLY what I expected. How do I rate it? In the end I have to go back to simple questions: did I like it, would I rewatch it, and would I recommend it? Yes. Probably. And probably not. What the actual hell? 8/10

Tokyo in April is AKA Shigatsu no Tokyo wa

Two young men with a shared tragic past reunite and fall in love all over again, but the past will not stop hunting them. Based on a manga, this office set reunion romance is GREAT… damn it. It’s Japan in full on soft focus which means it gets emo, abusive, and chewy. These two characters are giving parts of their souls away in a desperate attempt to shape themselves to the expectations they have of each other. Japan gave us the Bed Friends that Thailand could never even imagine. But here’s the thing: I don’t enjoy my BL this heavy and cutting. I know that for The 8th Sense crowd this is peak BL and I can’t argue with the fact that the romantic devotion, domesticity, script, and acting IS all on point. It’s just not my personal preference for that point to be so damn sharp. I appreciate that this being 2023 I have the luxury of consistent quality (especially from Japan) and thus the ability to say… I acknowledge that this SHOULD get a 9/10 but I can’t emotionally go higher than 8/10

This show was an interesting take on the "ghost boyfriend" trope. About a boy who is tormented by hearing the dead, except when he is around one other boy - desperation+proximity = love. Unfortunately, the story was erratic and waffled about. While the leads turned in solid performances and the sappy domesticity was off the charts, it never really had the strength of the narrative convictions such a strong concept should have supplied. Highly rewatchable and enjoyable for that sappy domesticity but not a whole lot more. Still I always give extra credit for the diabetes-inducing sugar content and rewatch capacity. 8/10

I liked it a lot and it's classic yaoi of the kind that really only works from Japan. Basically: boys who fell in love in college end up living together but both are so repressed they actually don't realize they're in love. It's higher heat from Japan and well done, but it leaned into the "why don't they just talk for fuck's sake?" trope which is only exacerbated into undiluted frustration by the fact that they're already fucking. It's good, but watching requires more patience than usual, even from Japan. 8/10

This a cute coming of age drama around music and 2 kinds of self acceptance and actualization journeys. This was basically Korea’s version of About Youth, and was perhaps a bit too soft and ungrounded by comparison, like a marshmallow sculpture. Sweet but somewhat lacking in discernible flavor. 8/10

Thai Dramas

(Thailand has the most BLs and a lot of variety but also can be a little messy because the industry is still growing)

* I told sunset about you - about two teenagers that are rivals and are taking the college exams entrance. A classic come out of age story but also a brilliant masterpiece (acting, cinematography...)

* My School President the series - A light High School romance. Has the vibe of club activities anime. They are all dumbass and it is wholesome, funny and full of music (the characters remind me of the mugiwaras).

* Bad Buddy the series - One of the best titles. It is a college romance with romantic comedy Romeo and Juliet vibes. Two neighbors that the family hate each other meet again in college, but they are in rivals majors. First eps may be a little confusing but it picks up.

* Triage the series - a time travel stick in a loop story. There is an age gap since the protagonist is a doctor, while the patient he is trying to save in the time loop is a college student. But the story is pretty interesting.

* Not me the series - This one is about a set of students fighting against the oppression. White learns that his twin brother Black is in a comma and decides to take his place to find out who did this. However, he soons founds out that his brother is in a revolutionary group.

* Moonlight chicken - A more mature story. It is about the owner of a chicken shop, his family and the new men trying to flirt with him.

* A tale of thousand stars - About a spoiled brat that has a heart problem and ends up receiving the heart of a volunteer teacher. After the transplant, he decides to learn more about this women and changes to the little village that she was a volunteer teacher. More slow paced but a pretty story.

* Be my favorite the series - the protagonist feel like he wasn't able to get anything he wanted in live. He gets an object that allows him to time travel to his first year of college and change his future. It is a funny romantic comedy with some good lessons.

He is coming to me - A coming out of age story about a college student that can see ghosts (the age may feel weird because he first see the ghost as a kid but they are both the same age since the ghost died as a college sudtent too)

Japonese

(Japonese dramas a lot of times I feel are more mature, for an older audience or they hit the fluffy first love stories)

* What did you eat yesterday - About being older and queer. A more domestic slice of life. Definitely my favorite.

* My love mix up - this is an amazing first story! It is a light and funny romantic comedy set in high school. The characters are all adorable.

* If it's with you - just a cute and sweet romance, also high school

* My Beautiful man - this is a really good story, warning that the characters are more obsessive. Still you analyze their motivation and what is the story meaning. They are with each other.

* Cherry Magic - A classic. Has a Thai adaptation that is also worth checking and an anime. The protagonist is a 30y that gets the power to read people mind because he is a virgin. And the story? Pretty funny and wholesome.

* Our dinning table - Wholesome story. The protagonist becomes friends with a cheerful kid and his older brother and they bond over meals.

Old fashioned cupcake - a really beautiful story about allowing yourself to enjoy things even when growing older

* Takara-kun and Amagi-kun - cute, cute, cute and adorable. Fluffy high school romance

Korean

(Korean BL are usually the less problematics one. They are still small and I am not the biggest fan, but if you like their story most you can start without fear. The two first are the ones i like the most)

* Semantic Error - Romantic Comedy in a college setting. Fun to watch and the characters are interesting

* The Eighth sense - Another unique queer story. It is about a boy that moves away from his small town to attend college and falls in love with his senior. Good acting, cinematography and chemistry.

* Unintentional Love story - a recently fired office worker goes to the beach to take a vacation and there finds a recluse ceramic artist. It is a nice one to see

* To my star - Cute and good to pass the time

Taiwan

(Taiwan has more compelling plots but also is pretty messy so may be a hit miss)

* DNA says I love you - it is a hard story to explain, but it delivers really well complexity. The characters are interesting and the plot is different too.

* Be loved in house - a romance story about a boss and his employee that do not get along but end up living together. The dynamic is pretty fun and no need to worry about power in balance.

* History 3 trapped - the romance story of a policeman and the Mafia leader. Pretty fun to watch. I also recommend history 2 crossing the line (highschool volleyball romance) and history 3 make our days count (beautiful and amazing highschool romance but may make you cry). They are stand alone.

* My tooth your love - Romantic Comedy about a dentist and his patient that hates to go to the dentist over traumatic reasons, but is forced by his sister. A little cheesey and cliche, but a fun watch.

* No.1 for you - about two university students that are rivals.

Philippines

(I love their dramas but there isn't many)

* Gameboys - super funny but also can be quite heavy since it talks about the COVID pandemic. Two boys start talking online during the pandemic.

* Like in the movies - beautiful queer coming out story. It is about a college student that moves out to an apartment but he does not manage to get a job, so to pay rent he agrees to fake date his neighbor.

Chinese

(Chinese BL unfortunately are censored so you will not get any kiss of them or explicit romantic confession, but you can see the love is there)

* Untamed - the first of many, it is a cultivation story so it is complex at the start but really compelling and engaging plot

* Word of honor - also a cultivation story about two shameless bastards. Gets your attention.

* Guardian - it mixes some of the cultivation world elements with modern detective work. Funny and engaging.

* The spirealm - the characters enter in a game about live and death. A little confusing but I really love the characters

I tried to make a list with more variety so you can choose from. If you want more recs later let me know. A warning would be that a lot of this stories are still growing so you can see some problems in them but it is worth giving a chance. If you want to ask over an specific taste you have in stories, let me know because I can see it better.

Quick thoughts on EP8.

Kinn and Porsche has entered the honeymoon phase! Yay! But since it’s Kinn and Porsche, things are bound to happen to put a dent on or even burst their happy bubble. In this case, a certain someone everyone thought to be deceased. The episode flew by quickly (honestly it felt too short the ep was not even 50mins 😔).

Here are the things I love about KinnPorsche EP8:

• The opening scene - so after the event of the previous ep, Kinn and Porsche finally made and did it inside a bedroom. Seeing them waking up in good spirits, in each other’s arms (exchanging morning breaths 🤭) and having a morning cuddle and kiss is so wholesome (okay maybe not because you know IT IS Kinn and Porsche we’re talking about) and endearing. I love how Kinn suggests to announce their relationship with that cheeky smile on his face (and I was not surprised Porsche was the one holding back).

• Porsche seeking love advice - okay it may not be his original intention but he ended up getting one. He is so overwhelmed by happiness and love that he wants to share it with someone other than Kinn of course and that person is Yok. Yok is probably the closest adult/parent figure Porsche has in his life (the uncle does not really count) who he can lean on when things get a little too much. I love their friendship and I love how Porsche can open up to Yok without feeling he would be judged.

• Their date - for a first date, Porsche did an awesome job. Though he was not able to execute all of the things he planned, their first official date was a success. Their happiness is reflected on their faces and their smiles are so bright it was blinding. Mile and Apo once again delivered with the feels because I believed and felt every emotions. The snapping of photos, the hand holding, the stolen kisses, that almost smooch and of course the underwater kiss, were perfect (I know stan twitter is expecting a different kind of pool scene but hey the one we have in EP8 is great as well). I just can’t with these two gahhh!

• Tankhun and the squad - it was one sequence but I really love seeing Tankhun, Arm, Pol, Pete and Porsche together. It’s always fun with them even if they were just hanging out doing a mundane activity like watching a horror movie. Tankhun is over the top, as always, for having his bodyguards wore those make up, all for one, one for all is his mantra hahaha.

• Kinn and Porsche having a conversation - This one is the highlight of the episode for me. They are communicating and words are spoken. They compliment and tease each other. They say I miss you. Yes, TO.EACH.OTHER. Kinn opens up a bit about Tawan and Porsche is able to ask what’s on his mind. He made Kinn say he is over his ex and that the picture he kept was just one of those things - nothing important. I just hope they continue being this way.

Uhm but that preview is not looking so good because Tawan is obviously up to something, darn. Tawan’s timing is so suspicious. Just as Kinn and Porsche are basking in the bliss of their upgraded status, here comes the ex trying to ruin it.

P.S. Kinn is surprised to see Tawan in the flesh. Could it be that he truly believed Tawan actually died when he shot him? Or perhaps he was so distraught by the betrayal he thought he killed him but in truth he just wounded him and somebody powerful (Khun Korn?) wanted to spare him of more pain he was told Tawan is deceased? Or maybe the major family is led to believe his past flame is dead and those who informed (minor family) them are the ones using Tawan now to shake Kinn’s resolve and destroy his new-found happiness? Ahh, I don’t know what to think anymore. Now I really want to know what truly transpired in that moment when Kinn shot Tawan and who were actually there when it happened.

(x) The "BEDBUGS!!!" scene is literally one of the funniest in the show. So much humor crammed into so many quick cuts. I love s5 Klaine but their comedic chemistry remained sadly underutilized. They easily could've had a full 22 ep season just by giving us more funny scenes like this

(x) Just a few hours ago, Kurt was staring forlornly as Blaine serenaded another man, and Blaine was feeling the sting of rejection from someone he liked. And yet in no time at all they're making one another laugh like nothing bad ever happened. Bc they're what?? Best friends! this may also just be chris and darren breaking character but shh

(x) this?? is just so cute??? this ep was packed to the gills with domestic fluff and we ate it all up. just Blaine wrapping anything around Kurt's neck and using it to pull him closer like... what's not to love??

(x) (i'm not talking about this exact moment but i dont think anyone will complain about the gif...) Okay so in the scene leading up to the first kiss after Kurt says "Why did you pick me to sing that song with?" Blaine kind of stalls and it takes him a few seconds to answer

I have a hc that Blaine planned out exactly how this conversation would go, running thru it a million times in his head before he finally went to talk it out with Kurt. And he says what song he wants to sing and Kurt says he's impressed and Blaine says "Well I just wanted something a little more emotional" and I feel like he'd planned out several more minutes of conversation before he confessed his feelings, but Kurt jumped ahead by asking point blank "Why did you pick me to sing with?" and suddenly Blaine is mentally shuffling thru the flashcards he'd written up trying to get to the right one and tell Kurt how he feels

ipytm ep 2 (thoughts + spoilers)

i’ve been trying my hardest to forget about iptym during the week so the countdown to each new ep won’t feel as long, but i don’t think i’ve succeeded. with each new ep i feel more and more nervous and excited bc i know the conflict and angst is only going to keep ramping up as the series goes on (and this ep was a good indication of that...not FULL BLOWN angst yet, but the undercurrent of angst is slowly starting to come to the surface). i’m def more prepared for it than i was during itsay, but that doesn’t make it easy ;;;

the standard ‘this is not a proper analysis’ here...i’m completely aware that this post in particular is really messy, but i just had a lot of mixed feelings and thoughts with this ep. one day i will learn how to condense my thoughts better, but today is not that day so i’m doing this under a read more for once bc it’s embarrassingly long 😂

we start off with teh in acting class where his teacher is explaining how you need to be able to understand yourself before you’re able to understand other people (and therefore put yourself in the shoes of the character you’re playing)...which even before i knew where this ep was going to go felt a lot like foreshadowing for the events that were going to unfold in this ep.

the acting exercises are basically a lot like the ones that we see bkpp (and the rest of the cast) having to do as part of their workshops in the documentary eps, so it’s kind of cool to see them incorporate parts of that into the actual show itself. feels more authentic since, if you’ve watched the documentary eps, you know that this is actually what the actors have to go through when they’re learning to let themselves go and get into character.

so through this montage of all of teh’s classes, we get to see how much he’s enjoying learning more and more about his major. it’s truly his passion, and he’s finally in his element. and it’s great that he’s surrounded by so many seniors that are also as driven and passionate about performing as he is...i find it interesting how teh, even from the start, has always been most attracted to people that have the same sense of ambitiousness as he does. in itsay, his best friend (aside from oh-aew obv) was tarn, who had a very similar mindset as him. so here, it’s not really that much of a surprise that all his uni friends are basically the drama club seniors that he sees as role models. oh-aew is kind of that one outlier bc he doesn’t fit that same mould/personality type that teh tends to surround himself with, which is where you can already start to see the discord between them arising. in itsay, bc oh-aew was working towards the same end goal as teh at the time, it wasn’t as much of a conflict. but in ipytm we can see that their paths are starting to diverge more and more. that being said, oh-aew’s someone that teh truly needs in his life bc he offers a different perspective to most of teh’s other friends, and as we can see later on, teh REALLY needs that.

now THIS was one of the interactions i was really interested in. we already knew from the ep 2 teaser that teh isn’t exactly happy with oh-aew’s new friend group, so i’ve been waiting to see how teh acts when he’s around them. everyone’s at q’s house celebrating plug’s birthday, and honestly?? they’re all really sweet and accommodating of teh (they get him sweet drinks bc teh tells them that he doesn’t drink bc it’s too bitter, and they don’t pressure him when he says he can’t drink bc he’s got morning classes). but then the conversation turns to teh and oh-aew becoming actors and earning lots of money (and how convenient that is), and teh starts to get a little riled up. i don’t think they mean anything by what they’re saying (they’re just playing around), but we know that teh's sensitive to this sort of thing, and i think to him, it’s almost like they’re saying it’s ‘easy’ to become an actor and start making bank. teh, who already knows how hard it is (esp since he’s been watching how difficult it’s been for khim in particular), starts getting defensive about it. the focus being on money hits a nerve with him too bc teh is very clearly majoring in comm arts bc it’s his dream, not bc of the money he could make from it. teh and oh-aew’s gang are just on different wavelengths, and you can really start to see how teh’s having trouble bonding with oh-aew’s gang bc of their differing mindsets.

it makes me slightly sad that you can see how worried oh-aew is about teh and his friends not meshing. it’s like we, the audience, are all feeling what oh-aew is feeling...his nervous glances at teh bc he’s afraid that teh might not like them. and the discomfort on teh’s part too. all of oh-aew friends tend to be a lot more like him, relaxed and happy to go with the flow, but we know that teh can be pretty rigid and intense about the things that he’s passionate about. oh-aew recognises this, which is why he’s as anxious as he is in the first place.

oh-aew’s tea tattoo in honour of teh is actually so sweet 😭 it shows how much teh means to him. he really got a permanent mark on his body to symbolise his love for his boyfriend ;;; but from teh’s perspective, it’s literally that first mark of change. it IS a pretty big decision, so i don’t blame teh for being shocked about it, but teh likely sees this as oh-aew’s friends being a ‘bad’ influence on him (which we know gets brought up again later). not bc of the tattoo itself, but bc of what it represents. it’s like he’s watching oh-aew start to change before his very eyes and he doesn’t know how to deal with that so he brushes it away for now.

the framing of that shot where teh and oh-aew are facing each other and then q comes to walk in between them is A LOT like how they used to frame the both of them in itsay and having bas walk in between them. interesting.

HOW MUCH DO I LOVE THE FACT THAT OH-AEW SPEAKS CHINESE WHEN HE’S DRUNK...that’s just plain adorable :’) it’s like he’s reverting back to when teh was teaching him chinese and they were first falling in love again. teh’s method of getting close to him was always tutoring oh-aew in chinese, so it’s as though oh-aew is trying to feel closer to teh again by speaking chinese to him. sort of like he’s trying to recreate that feeling all over again. i also love that this is basically the opposite of that oppo short film ad bkpp did haha.

we got the “ke yi ma” “ke yi” again ;;;;;;;; i love their little domestic moments. they’re so soft when they’re like this (i know we’re gonna have to weather the angst, but i hope we still have a lot more fluffy moments like this too pls). side note, i really love the lighting in these scenes!!

when oh-aew reads teh’s note about the kimchi jjigae and smiles but then reads the “do not skip class” and his smile fades away...oh, oh-aew, i feel u.

so now we get to see oh-aew in acting class, and the difference between oh-aew’s feelings towards class and teh’s feelings are like night and day. teh’s classes make him feel so fulfilled...this is genuinely something that he wants to do. but oh-aew is struggling. he doesn’t have that same sense of purpose as teh bc he’s starting to realise that this might not be what he really wants...he’s trying but just not enjoying it at all. when teh tells him about the casting call, i feel so much dread for him bc he’s clearly not looking forward to it whatsoever, but he knows how much this means to teh...so he’s willing to ignore his feelings for now if teh’s happy :(

is it just me or was this when oh-aew stopped carrying his ‘heart attack’ bag too??

idk this struggle in particular just feels so personal to me. i really identify with oh-aew when it comes to this bc when i was at uni i changed my major like 3-4 times (and changed unis a bunch of times on top of that) bc i had NO IDEA what i wanted to do. even now, i still have no clue what i’m doing a lot of the time. i’m glad that oh-aew at least managed to find some sort of clarity when he dropped in on his friends’ advertising class and realised that this was something that he enjoyed and was good at :’)

teh’s so excited and focussed on this audition that he can’t even see how worried and reluctant that oh-aew is about this. he wants them to have the same dream so bad that he can’t see that this might not be oh-aew’s dream anymore. but anyway, oh-aew is the sweetest, best boy as always. he’s so, so encouraging with teh. so patient. he really such a great balance to teh’s more volatile nature...but that contrast is also what makes you feel so bad for him when teh lashes out at him without thinking (as he’s prone to doing).

i LOVE khim. i just have so much respect for her. she’s always trying her hardest, and it’s painful to see her give so much of herself yet constantly be knocked down. the resilience that takes. i know that that’s part of the industry she’s in, but that doesn’t make it any easier to watch. there’s a lot to be said about how harsh the entertainment industry can be (and the inherent ageism/sexism/homophobia within it), which i don’t have the time to go into here, but having to hear criticism like that...purely based on your looks (you don’t look smart enough, young enough, manly enough, etc.) is so incredibly disheartening. teh commenting on how harsh it is, and khim saying that it’s super common and telling the both of them how they’re gonna have to go through all of that the more casting calls they go to...OF COURSE oh-aew is only going to feel even more dispirited about this when he’s already realising that this might not be his thing anymore.

being able to take rejection and criticism is really fucking difficult (i know i could never do it)...and seeing oh-aew being told that he’s not ‘manly’ enough/too ‘girly’ in acting class and again at the casting call is yet another knock at his confidence. the way you physically see oh-aew get more flustered and anxious as the audition goes on, when he sees the crew shaking their heads at him :((( i feel all the nervousness, anxiety and embarrassment that he’s feeling right down to my very bones. then to walk out from that audition to khim talking about how damn hard it is to keep doing this time and time again only to be continually rejected?? my poor boy :( what’s fascinating to me is how differently the both of them interpret khim’s speech. teh latches on to her words and sees them as motivation to keep going...to keep trying and persevering. like a challenge. but to oh-aew, he just sees the difficulty and rejection. the instability of this career path, and how hard this could potentially be on his family as well. they’re both hearing completely different things.

teh being so happy about his audition even though he didn’t get the part and the way he turns around to face oh-aew directly when oh-aew tells him they said he was “too girly” and how he couldn’t change his personality to be what they wanted :((( pls. i just want to hug him so bad. teh’s “i like you the way you are now” and reassurance that so many other people do too  😭i know he kind of makes a mess of himself later on, but i’m still so glad that oh-aew got to hear that from him at least.

this show is the best at making you feel all that nervousness and anxiety when any of the characters are about to drop some big news. i was waiting with bated breath when oh-aew told teh he wanted to transfer majors. it makes me sad though that oh-aew has to constantly feel like he’s walking on eggshells when it comes to teh...he’s always most worried about teh’s reaction, and that’s prob the main reason why he didn’t opt out of comm arts even earlier. but oh-aew has all these mounting doubts about his major, and there’s only so long he can stick it out for teh’s sake, and the casting call (and khim’s words) really solidified that for him.

teh’s "you haven’t given it your all”/”you haven’t done your best” rubs me the wrong way bc it’s easy to think that way when you’re set on something and know that that’s what you want to do...but when you’re doubting/not sure about something, it just isn’t the same thing. we all have different thresholds when it comes to what we can endure and how much we can put into something. teh’s a hard worker, we’ve seen how dedicated he can be when he really wants something, but not everyone works like this. not everyone can be a teh or a khim. and esp not when they’re having to give their all to something that doesn’t feel right for them. and oh-aew’s right...sometimes once is enough to know that something’s not a fit for you.

when oh-aew mentions that he sat in on advertising class and thinks he might be into it, it’s like a parallel of that scene when they’re kids and oh-aew told teh that he wanted to become an actor like him. only now it’s the opposite. teh’s had this plan in his head that he and oh-aew are going to reach their dream of becoming actors and the lead protagonists in a movie/series together for so long now that it’s hard for him to reconcile that oh-aew might no longer want this as much as he does anymore. it’s like he can see this ultimate goal of his crumbling. so just hearing that it’s bc of q and the rest of the gang’s ‘influence’ that oh-aew sat in on their advertising class in the first place (and this triggered his interest in advertising) is like strike two for teh vs. oh-aew’s friends.

i’ve def mentioned this before, but oh-aew has always been the more pragmatic of the two, whilst teh is more idealistic, so i understand why he would gravitate towards something that was more stable of a career for him. more of a guarantee. he knows that advertising/marketing suits him better (not to mention that he’s always had the resort as his safety to fall back on too), and it’s something that he’s discovering he actually enjoys more in general too.

when i first watched this, i was like “oh wow teh’s matured so much!!” bc he didn’t blow up at oh-aew during this scene...that kind of ended up backfiring on me towards the end, but at the same time, i do think there’s a certain level of growth there since he does end up trying to reassure oh-aew (even if the blow up still occurs later on). it’s a process though...and even baby steps are progress.

8 months later and teh’s walking past that same place he and oh-aew walked by during his first night in bangkok...only now the poster is no longer the same red one. it’s blue... as though it’s signifying that this is just teh’s dream alone now, and teh clearly still hasn’t come to terms with that yet.

i’m really happy seeing oh-aew in a much better place now!! it’s so good to see him happy and actually involved in uni with his friends. but watching teh struggle going through casting calls and rejections makes my heart ache. hearing khim’s experience with auditions, and actually having to experience it irl, are two entirely different things. it’s like the reality of the situation is starting to hit in for teh. and that, on top of oh-aew not being there to support him in the same way bc their goals in life aren’t similarly aligned anymore, is starting to take its toll.

god, when teh lined oh-aew and was waiting for his response i was like nooooo don’t do it DON’T DO IT only for him to open ig to check oh-aew’s story 😭(though it IS cute that they have couple pfps). but we’re regressing. and now that they have different social circles it’s even harder to connect than before. teh feels like oh-aew’s being pulled away from him, into another friend group that doesn’t include him...and his insecurities are bubbling to the surface again. teh’s always needed that reassurance that he’s ‘special’ to oh-aew. clearly, we know that he is...but even now that they’re dating, it’s still something that he questions. and esp now that oh-aew is starting to feel like he’s fading further and further away out of reach.

i love seeing all of teh’s friends encourage him. they all understand how tough it is, and to see them all pull together to lift his spirits again is so lovely. but then his mood completely changes again when oh-aew comes to join them for dinner :( teh’s doing that thing again where he says everything’s fine when everything’s not fine (cue that “they ask you how you are and you just have to say you’re fine when you’re not really fine” meme). the flash to teh’s face when top says that he didn’t pass the exam to get into anantasart, and you know he’s just thinking about how he gave up his spot for oh-aew initially, and now that oh-aew’s transferred, it’s kind of like he’s turned it down twice. oof.

when teh tells them all that oh-aew’s transferred to advertising, it’s as though this is his way of trying to separate both his worlds. like oh-aew doesn’t belong here with his drama club friends, and it’s that pettiness that we got from teh in itsay is back in full force all over again. it reminds me so much of that time oh-aew told the itsay gang that he was a virgin, and so teh told his friends at school that he was a virgin too. or when oh-aew sent him that picture of his and bas’ legs touching, so teh retaliated by putting that pic of tarn on his story and leaning in to kiss her. it’s like he always needs to one up oh-aew. he doesn’t want oh-aew to feel the same bond with his drama club friends that teh has (esp when he sees that oh-aew is so close to his uni friends). where oh-aew was anxious about teh and his uni friends not getting on, teh is anxious that oh-aew and his drama club friends will get on too well so he has to create this distinction between them. kind of like his petty attempt to be all “i have my own friends too!!”, but it’s also combined with that feeling of inadequacy that he might not fit into oh-aew’s life anymore. he might not be ‘special’. idk if that makes sense but basically i think that teh’s feeling a lot of conflicting things during this scene.

when he starts attacking oh-aew at dinner...that was really hard to watch. you ever feel like you want to reach through the screen and just put your hand over someone’s mouth so they stop talking?? it was rough :/ it’s one thing to fight when it’s just the two of you alone, but it’s another thing to tear your partner down right in front of your friends. i understand teh’s feelings (and i know that they’ve been building up over this time), but my frustration was through the ROOF during this. it’s on brand for him, but still. and then poor khim :( i know oh-aew didn’t mean it in that way but the awkwardness of this entire dinner was just overwhelming.

another thing that’s sad about what teh said about oh-aew is that this is a huge sore spot for oh-aew, and it’s always been one of his biggest insecurities. the reason they stopped being friends when they were kids was bc teh said that he was going to quit eventually, so for teh to talk about how “shilly shally and indecisive” he is/how easily he ‘quits’ at things is a low blow when he already knows how much those words hurt oh-aew.

teh has a habit of jumping to conclusions based on oh-aew’s social media posts instead of actually talking things out with oh-aew so naturally it would make an appearance again here as well. and calling oh-aew’s friends “shitty” bc they’re different to him (aren’t as driven as teh and his drama club gang...therefore a bad influence on oh-aew) makes it really evident that teh still has a lot to learn. he really needs to start taking those acting class lessons to heart so he can see that not everyone is the same, and that other peoples’ experiences and perspectives are valid too.

teh’s long pause and “maybe” to oh-aew’s “and if this is what i really am, you’re not gonna like me anymore, are you?” BIG SIGH. it’s so typical of teh. i know he’s honest to a fault, but he REALLY needs to learn to think before he speaks sometimes bc he always ends up regretting it. i love that impulsivity of his, but it’s also one of the most frustrating things about him.

one thing that i find kind of annoying with the time skip is that we miss so much of teh’s festering feelings that it’s a bit harder to empathise with him when he has his eventual blow up?? i think if we were seeing this more consistently, it would be much easier for us to understand things from his pov better. like if we could slowly see this building up more and more as time went on, rather than just time skipping the 8 months until the blow up.

anyway, now khim and top are graduating ;;; i really hope that we’ll still get to see more of them in the next eps. i also love how the people in teh’s life are always so concerned for him (and how oh-aew’s doing). the message behind the book teh gets for khim’s graduation present is really sweet.

when khim first tells them that she’s going to be a flight attendant and teh blows up, i felt really angry at him initially. but upon reflection and rewatching this ep again...i think i understand where he’s coming from a lot better now. obv i still think he was out of line bc of course what khim’s saying makes sense...she can’t keep going to casting calls and scraping by with minor roles when she has to support herself and her family. in the end, we all need money to survive, and sometimes we have to be realistic about it. i really loved what she said about how we can have multiple dreams at once. but yeah, my heart really went out for her so much here :( it might be difficult for teh to see (or accept) rn, but he’s a lot more privileged than he realises. he still has hoon and his mother to support him financially, but not everyone is in the same position. not everyone gets to be as lucky.

regardless, i still understand why teh gets as torn up about it as he does. khim is someone that he’s looked up to and respected SO much...and his own doubts and insecurities have been steadily increasing. first, oh-aew changes majors, then, he keeps getting rejected at auditions, and now, the senior that he respects the most bc of her hard work and determination, is giving up her dream (at least in his eyes) to become a flight attendant. it’s like the world keeps telling him to give up bc it’s not going to work out for him. and he’s invested EVERYTHING into this dream. it’s all or nothing for him. but it’s like everyone else is slipping away, and it’s getting harder and harder to hold onto.

when teh looks at the tie and is reminded of oh-aew always being there to put it on for him :(((((((( ngl i was hoping that teh would be the first one to approach oh-aew (since their fight was bc of him), but i’m glad he apologised at least. and that they had a good talk about their feelings. but then again, this reflection after their fights is what they’ve always been fairly good at. teh just has to learn to stop internalising things so much that he ends up exploding so they don’t get to this point in the first place. so much has flipped from the first ep where oh-aew was the one feeling lonely and out of place. now it’s teh’s turn to feel all alone as he sees everyone’s dreams and goals (but his) start to change. like everyone is moving on and learning to adjust while he’s being left behind.

when they’re promising each other that their love for one another will never change, it just makes me feel so SAD. seeing them in the moonlight like this compared to the first ep when they were on the beach in phuket and teh was so hopeful and oh-aew was so worried :( everything’s already changed so much. making this promise under the moon like this reminds me of how bkpp kept talking about how the ‘ipytm’ title itself means an impossible promise...the two of them hugging in the moonlight as the score plays just feels so painfully bittersweet somehow ;;; my heart is aching, and i want the next ep, but i can’t deny that my anxiety is slowly building.

anyway, i know the end of this sounds so negative but i’m still banking on our teh/oh-aew endgame!!!!!!! it just needs to get worse to get better, and there’s still so much space for them to grow and learn. so many more experiences in store for them.

I just wanna say, I'm not going to stop watching BL's cuz even if they have a bad part or something like that, there is still also a lot of good shit so yeah

First of I'd like to say fuck you to the last ep of the show I just watched (HIStory: Make Our Days Count). Fuck you for letting us believe that they finally got what they had been fighting so fucking hard for since episode 2 only to rip it our of our hands with the last episode by killing of 1 of the main characters. Killing him wasn't even that good for the storyline, before the show had such moving messages and now it just had 'life sucks and everyone you love dies'.

Because of this I will be ignoring the last episode and they will have had the happy ending they deserve in my mind.

Then I'd like to ask you to stop torturing and killing our fucking LGBTQIA+ REP. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND A SOLID NON TOXIC GAY RELATIONSHIP IN ANYTHING OTHER THAN BL'S?! Well, really fucking hard. Every gay in non-bl shows either gets killed, their partner gets killed or they end up in a weird and not really ok relationship with the partner.

The show I just talked about: killed one off, do I really need to say more

TharnType: Type was molested as a child and Tharn befriended a psychopath who is the cause of all of his heartbreaks. And Type needs to break Tharn's heart to save him from said psychopath and the whole experience def leaves them with PTSD. Also said psychopath set up Tharn's previous boyfriend (the one before Type) up to be gang raped by 3 older men, filmed this all, made it look consensual due to drugging the boy and then using the film to blackmail said boy into breaking up with Tharn and into helping said psychopath drive Tharn and Type apart. Resulting in a heartbreak that shook Tharn to the core and I think the whole ass fucking fandom can argue it might have made him suicidal if he didn't find out why Type broke up with him.

WHYRU?: The whole Fighter thing I have talked about before which was fully out of character and we never got him apologizing to Tutor for basically asulting him and almost raping him. Also, Fighter stands up to his homophobic dad once and suddenly his dad does a full 180 and supports his son's relationship, cute try but no, not how it works.

My Engineer: my fluffy boys Ram and King are hopefully, since the show has 3 more eps left, in good hands. But as soon as Duen and Bohn got the labels bf/bf the writers just kinda pushed them to the side. Resulting in Duen being a boyfriend that pulls away from everything and seems to be more into a friendship than a relationship, and into a Bohn that can't take a no and let's his emotions have the best of him. Mostly anger and jealousy. Writers please take care of my sons will you, damn it.

Love By Chance: I hope to dear god that season 2 is better than season 1 because season 1 had a shit ton of flakey or just no consent. AND. CONSENT. IS. FUCKING. IMPORTANT. UNDERSTAND. THAT. PLS. But, besides the small consent issue it's a great show. Too bad that one of the characters has to be blackmailed by a duck who wants to out him to his mom. Let's all sign a petition to put Trump down. Yes, Trump like president Trump, just not the same person. ~only the same dick personality~

Dark Blue Kiss: I love this show and the Kao/Pete pairing but I'd like Non to just fuck off. Although he did make the story line so I guess he was needed, which is the only reason I tolerate him. Still want to stab him, and want more domestic and cute Kao/Pete

En of love: tossara and 2gether the series: are one of the only shows that haven't mayorly fucked up. Although 2gether could have used some more romantic scenes/kisses in the end but eh.

YYY:The Series: only has 3 eps yet and I can't decide if the story line will fuck me over or not. What I do know is that it's full of meme references and that the writers definitely did drugs, makes it all the more gold tho

So in conclusion. I want western TV to stop queer baring me. And I want all of the TV to stop killing and torturing the characters, unless it's plot driven. Such as in DBK and TT. Although TT should chill...

Gary walks back onto the Crimson Light, Little Cato attached to his hip. Emotions inside him are swirling around rapidly, and he isn't really sure what he's feeling right now except relieved. Relieved that Little Cato was willing to let him be his dad and come back with them.

Gary can tell that the kid is probably conflicted about everything, too. He keeps on wavering between absolutely elated to worried, and Gary knows that the kid is waiting to be reprimanded. Which is his job now, sorta. Well, it's not like he's getting paid to care for the kid, and it would be messed up if he was but—

Okay, that's not what he needs to be thinking about right now. Little Cato. His official son.

Who is slowly trying to sneak away from Gary to who knows where on the ship to probably stew in his feelings. Gary is not going to let that happen, he's prepared for parenthood now.

"Little Cato, where do you think you're going?" Gary asks, crossing his arms in a way that he hopes makes him look more serious.

The kid stops dead in his tracks and turns around. "My room?"

Gary nods. "Well, your room is the opposite direction of where you're heading right now."

Little Cato's ears flop over in defeat, and the kid walks back over to Gary with a sigh. There's clearly guilt still swirling around in the kid, but Gary doesn't think directly talking to him about it right now would be a good idea. The kid is still way too flighty, plus Gary does not want to have to run after him again.

"You wanna do something fun?"

Little Cato glances up at Gary. "Like what?" he says.

Shit, Gary didn't think that far ahead. Think think think, what do dads do?

"How about we bake some cookies?" he says out of nowhere. Little Cato perks up at that, so Gary runs with it and quickly grabs the boy's shoulders to steer him to the kitchen. "Okay, we're baking cookies now."

They arrive at the kitchen, and Gary immediately starts pulling things down from the shelves that he knows for sure goes in cookies. He doesn't know where anything is, but he finds it all surprisingly quickly. Little Cato has just been sitting on the counter, watching Gary move about with intense purpose.

"Is chocolate chip good?"

Little Cato nods. "You actually know how to bake?"

He laughs. "Sorta. I haven't done it in years, but I probably still remember? Wanna find a recipe for me?"

Gary tosses his phone into the kid's waiting hands, and he double checks to make sure he has everything as the boy finds a recipe.

"Does this one look good?" Little Cato asks, showing it to Gary.

Gary skims it over and nods. "Yep, that should be good. You wanna get started with measuring everything out?"

He nods and starts with the flour as Gary takes off his jacket, only for Gary to turn around to see Little Cato about to pour in a massive cup full of flour.

"Woah woah woah, nope, that is way too much," Gary says frantically as he grabs Little Cato's wrist, pulling it towards them and away from the bowl. He takes the cup from him and grabs a knife. "Here, what you've gotta do is take the flat end of the knife to level it off to make it exact. You try."

Gary hands it back to the boy with the knife, watching as Little Cato cleanly swipes all of the excess flour back into its container.

"Ooohhh," Little Cato says, smiling slightly. "That makes more sense. How are you so good at this?"

Gary cracks an egg. "My dad and I used to do this. The first time was a trainwreck. I can't even remember why I was upset, but cookies always calmed me down for some reason. We didn't have any, so my dad tried to make some."

"Were they good?" Little Cato asks.

Gary laughs heartily, remembering the bland yet bitter taste of the cookies and the soggy, sad shape they came out to be. "They were the worst cookies I've ever had, but it was so much fun. Then it just became a thing we did, whenever one of us was upset."

Gary can clearly remember his dad coming home from work one day, miserable beyond belief. He just fell into the couch and covered his face with his hands. Gary had to have been about six at the time, but he just ran into the kitchen, grabbed an apron, and launched it at his dad's face while screaming, "Stop being sad!" It's his favorite cookie memory. They had a flour fight in the middle of it, and it was when they finally perfected the recipe.

Little Cato laughs, finishing up with his portion of the measuring. "Your dad sounds cool."

"The coolest." Gary smiles sadly, but he quickly covers it up with excitement. "Well, time to mix it all up! Would you care to do the honors?"

"Why, I would be honored, my good sir," Little Cato says, trying not to laugh.

And so, Little Cato ceremoniously lifts up the mixing spoon, and then begins beating the hell out of the cookie dough.

Gary bursts out laughing at the intensity of it all, the seriousness on Little Cato's face as he stirs the dough way too hard, and it almost pains Gary to have to stop the boy from ruining the cookies. He slowly pulls Little Cato's arms out of the bowl, laughing the whole time.

"What?" Little Cato says, a lopsided grin on his face as his confusion over Gary's laughter grows.

"You–you gotta be way more gentle when stirring that dough or you'll ruin it, buddy." Gary tries to calm down from his laughing fit as he wraps his hands around Little Cato's, stirring the contents of the bowl much slower than the kid had been doing previously. "Just like this, okay?"

"Ohhh, got it."

Little Cato takes over the stirring now that he knows how to do it properly, and Gary moves his hands to rest on his shoulders. Something about this moment, simply watching the young Ventrexian stir cookie dough with his tongue sticking out, feels right. It's so domestic, and Gary never thought that this would be something he would have in his life.

Little Cato finishes up, and together they lay out cookies on the pans.

"Can we make a super big one?" Little Cato asks, already forming the giant ball needed for it.

Gary couldn't possibly say no to that request, so he nods and watches fondly as the kid slaps a giant ball of dough onto the pan. "Want that one to go in the first baking batch?"

The kid nods excitedly, quickly shoving the giant cookie into the oven with a couple pans with normal-sized cookies, and then the task is done. Now all they can do is wait.

Little Cato and Gary both hop up to sit on the table that isn't covered in the remnants of a baking warzone, and Gary just watches Little's Cato's feet swing back and forth as he stares intensely at the cookies baking. Gary knows how much fun the kid is having, and he's having an amazing time, too, but he knows that they need to talk about a few things.

"Hey, Spidercat?" The kid turns immediately, a genuine smile on his face for one of the first times in a long while. "We gotta talk about some things, buddy."

The Ventrexian immediately deflates, his smile falling as he drops his head down to stare at his lap. Geez, Gary does not want to do this, but he has to for the kid's sake.

"I'm not happy that you ran away. At all. You never should've done that," Gary says sternly.

Little Cato's head only sinks further down into his chest, curling up into himself. "I know."

"Do you really know that? Because if you did, you wouldn't have run away. And you joined a group of bounty hunters? That was the first thing you decided to do? You could have gotten killed!"

Gary knows he's yelling slightly, but the more he thinks about it, the more angry he feels.

"How do you think I would have felt if I had woken up just to go looking for you only to find you hurt or worse?" Gary's voice cracks, but he keeps on going. "Don't you ever think of scaring me like that again, okay?"

Gary watches as a few tears slide off of the boy's cheeks. "I'm sorry," he whispers. "I didn't wanna make you mad."

"Well, I am mad. I mean, not really mad. Okay I am mad, but I'm more just–upset," Gary says, stumbling on his words. "I need you to start coming to me when you have a problem, not run away from everything. I'm here for you, kiddo. Always will be."

"But what if—?"

"Nope, nuh-uh. Come to me. For everything. Especially when you're feeling down. I've messed up, but I'm not gonna let you down anymore," Gary promises. "I'm all in, and I should have been before. You're my kid, so I'd like to know if my boy needs help with something."

Little Cato finally looks up at Gary, tears welling up in his eyes, and he launches himself at Gary. The kid clings onto his shirt, and Gary immediately wraps his arms around his son, holding him close and comforting him.

"I've got you, buddy. I've got you," he soothes, "I always will."

"I promise not to run away again," Little Cato cries, muffled by Gary's chest.

Gary presses a quick kiss to the top of the boy's head. "I know you won't."

The kid takes a few more moments to calm himself, then he pulls away from Gary to wipe away his tears. They continue to hold each other in a loose hug, and Little Cato tilts his head upwards and smiles at Gary. And damn does his heart melt.

"You know, in hindsight, I probably shouldn't have made you cookies after you ran away. Not exactly a punishment, is it," Gary says.

"It's too late, you're not taking that cookie away from me," Little Cato threatens, a wide smile on his face. "Can we do this again?"

"Oh, definitely! This could be a little family tradition of ours, if you want. My dad would have loved you," the blond says, ruffling his kid's hair.

"You think so?"

"How could he not when he has the coolest grandson in the universe?" Gary brags, a fond look in his eyes.

"Thanks, Dad," Little Cato laughs, bright and warm. "Oh my god, are you crying?"

Gary immediately tries to wipe away the tears and cover it up, saying, "No, no, I've just got flour in my eyes!"

Little Cato hugs him again, smiling knowingly as Gary tries and fails to not cry over how he literally has the best kid ever.

"Are the cookies almost done? Because I'm hungryyyy," the kid whines, wiggling around impatiently.

"Hi hungry, I'm dad."

Little Cato snorts, laughing so hard that he falls over onto the table, clutching onto his stomach. Gary can't help but lose it over how hard the kid is laughing, and he quickly dissolves into a pile of laughter with his son.

"Oh my god, that was so lame!" Little Cato wheezes, still giggling hysterically.

"I'm legally allowed to say dad jokes now, and they are not lame! They are very cool! You kids just don't know good comedy," Gary jokes, smiling even more as Little Cato laughs and laughs.

Gary leaves the kid to reclaim his sanity as he takes the cookies out of the oven to put the next few batches in, putting on a couple of songs while he's at it. He hasn't baked since before his dad died because it just reminded him of how much he missed him, but doing this with Little Cato? Best idea he's ever had, well, behind adopting the kid.

As Gary stands back for a moment to watch Little Cato move along to Dancing Queen, chocolate covering his face and hands because that kid did not hold back on putting those chips in that monster cookie, he can't help it when his heart just feels complete with his boy in his life.

I mean, it wouldn't be such a nuisance if it wasn't so hard to pronounce, I'm really conscious about my way of speaking so what really takes me back is the speaking part 😔 (the most important 😓)

Well actually, these last days HxH has been really fun, I like this exam arc, but I prefer watching it with my friend bc I like to say stupid shit and we end up laughing all the time. (Actually Hisoka's parts usually have that flamenco music so we always make fun of it dancing to it 😂) Domestic Girlfriend is... confusing, like 'why are you making an anime about this??? 🧐'. Yeah, I'll check out that one then, the only sports anime I've seen is Haikyuu and I loved it, I'd like to watch Yuri on Ice and Free! Have you watched them?

ahh... I wouldn't know... As I'm an only child I only know I would give my life for my parents, but I don't actually know if I'd like to have siblings... My mother told me she wanted to have manyyy kids, like 6 or so, but due to reasons she decided not to, but damn, I wouldn't want to be oldest sibling out of that bunch 👀 I can't even imagine the pressure.

Well, the first Agatha's book I read was 'And then there were none' at 13-14 for school, and to this day it's the first that comes to mind when recommending one, it really has you on the edge all the time (the introduction is kinda long and a little boring but after the dinner it all escalates) and bombastic plot twist 💥. Murder in the Orient express is also a classic.

Yeah, now my mind is in ‼️All of us are dead‼️but I'll check their synopsis out.

trust me. being the oldest isn't worth any of its very few advantages 😐 im the oldest of four and you have to be the second mother to everyone. just— no. i would never recommend being born first and im very serious about this oml. ppl might always complain about being lonely as an only child, but that's far better than being constantly surrounded by multiple gremlins at once 🥴 they look up to you for everything, so you never get to make mistakes (as my mom always tells me to behave or else you're being "a bad influence" and teaching them something bad 💔🙁). also bc you were your parents' first kid, they'll be harsher on you but the rules they once reinforced on you will lighten up so much more with your younger siblings. okay im done with my mini rant anyways you can see how done i am with this entire older sister life 💀💀

We all want that! It’s a real shame we can’t just have a ep full of fluff and domestic bliss because I would pay ££ to see that. I think we’ll see them like we did before, we’ll get some really sweet moments along with the drama. So happy they’re husbands again.
