Do y'all remember when this was a normal thing to see all over the place? Because I do. I remember seeing and posting this image everywhere when I was like 12-15.

for a while, i ran two selfship imagines blogs: one strictly against proship and one that caters to proship to see how the two communities actually treat each other. I posted similar imagines on both blogs, none specifying the f/o's age, gender, etc, and nothing nsfw.
the proship blog's notifications were disgusting. people talking about the things they want to do to underaged characters, people fantasizing about feral animals, and one guy who pretended the imagines were about his irl sister he wanted to bang. I received the occasional "you need help" anon, but no threats or anything like that.
the no-proship blog? I received constant threats from the proship side. death threats. rape threats. one person made it a point to describe how he would "ruin" me every single day. another tried to doxx me (but ended up sending the address of a TJ Maxx halfway across the country). people talking about how I was "censoring the internet" and I need to "try reading some noncon to lighten up".
both blogs were deleted after a month, and I will never trust a proship person saying they're the ones being treated badly.
Dear god

Pre-emptively blocking people is good for everyone.
Seriously. The amount of times I see people whining or laughing about being blocked when they 'haven't even done anything' just tells me that not many of you know its actually a really good way to properly curate your online space, and its not something to be offended over.
Blocking is a form of protection. Its also a form of mutual protection.
Especially on websites that don't offer more extensive or usable filtering, tagging and avoidance options. Twitter, for example.
Blocking isn't some personal insult. Its a method of saying; hey, we clearly shouldn't interact, so I'm gonna build this soundproof wall between us to make sure we can't.
To use The Salmon Analogy, if I run a restaurant based on salmon as the main ingredient, and you're allergic or or severely dislike salmon, me refusing to serve you isn't a personal sleight. Its me recognising that you can't or really don't want to eat salmon, and its me protecting you from an unpleasant experience and myself from you inevitably screaming at me for serving salmon.
If you are someone who enjoys 'objectionable' content, such as gore, and you stumble across an extremely anti-gore blog, its absolutely a viable option to pre-emptively block them. Maybe your paths never would've crossed, but its better to ensure they don't than potentially wind up the victim or hate or harassment.
Blocking is an absolute sure-fire way to ensure that you do not see something you do not want to. It should be used as liberally as you want to.

trying to counter bullshit from antis is so hard bc it's like.... well the problem is your argument is rooted in conservative anti-sex politics that harm marginalized people disproportionately. but the Problem is also that you believe in thought crimes in a way that is ableist and harms those w OCD and similar intrusive thoughts. but the PROBLEM is that you consider consumption of fictional content containing certain themes on par with real world abuse and violence which is offensive to survivors. but the PROOOOBLEM is that you care more about the punishment of perceived harm than preventing real world harm and center punitive measures over anything that would bring real justice. but THE PROBLEM IS

depiction is not automatically glorification!! i agree!! my problem with proshitters is that is IS glorification!! you can show a relationship w a child and adult and not glorify it… which is not what they’re doing 😭 they are literally writing about how cute and hot it is that an adult is being inappropriate with a CHILD
proshits (especially the adults) kiss my ass 🫡 this has zero “proship” tags. willful engagement is entirely ur fault

! OP IS A PROSHIPPER !
CLOSED Selfship Game !!
I'm bored and I wanna do one of those "who your f/o reminds me of" things... is it original? No but it's fun. So, reblog with 1-3 of your F/Os (familial, romantic, platonic, or your mortal enemy I don't care) and I'll assign them some sort of rock or crystal based on vibes!
Ex:
John Doe (John Doe), "Meat" Rhodochrosite ; Peter (Your Boyfriend), Tumbled Dumortierite

Antis are so interesting to me sometimes because there are two animes I love that have very similar character dynamics, Ancient Magus Bride and Black Butler and I see them get treated very differently.
Both shows involve an extremely traumatized teenage orphan voluntarily selling themself for a sense of safety and control. Ciel sells his soul for revenge to Sebastian and Chise sells herself for auction, risking a life of slavery, just for a place to call home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elias Ainsworth, a centuries old demonic mage, drops £5,000,000 to purchase Chise, a 15 year old girl, with the expressed intention of teaching her magic and making her his bride and she has little to no say in the matter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Sebastian, a centuries old demon, forms a contract with Ciel, a then 10 year old now 14 year old boy, where he openly expresses his desire to consume his soul, constantly grabs and speaks to him in incredibly suggestive ways, and while it is less blatant there is a heavily implied romantic/sexual relationship between them in which Ciel would actually have all the power and control since Sebastian is incapable of acting against his wishes.
Personally, I've never seen anybody talk badly about Elias, I've never seen anybody call him a groomer or talk about the blatant power imbalance between him and Chise.
Maybe I'm just missing it but I've only seen people mention how cute they are and I agree but I feel like some of those same people would see Sebastian and Ciel as incredibly toxic and gross when realistically they're far closer to being equals in their dynamic and that's where I get a little bit lost.

This was on an antishipper selfship confession blog. I wanted to respond but I know I would get instablocked and the anon would never see my response.
This is so sad
Silence the cop they put in your head. It literally doesnt matter, it's all fiction. Free yourself. Ship with whoever you want. If the age discrepency makes you uncomfy, age down your s/i or age up your f/o, but you dont have to change anything for anyone other than yourself. Ship the way it makes you happy.
