This again. I just want to break down my thoughts here so bear with me.

(I did the math and calculated ~ 7.9k people voted that 55%) 💀

First of all,

Elain doesn’t just enjoy gardening for the aesthetic, but rather for the fruits of her labor through hard work. Spring Court’s flowers and nature are only in bloom by magic (The High Lord’s). Not work. Not labor. But rather for convenience and aesthetics (to embody the very domain that one, being Tamlin, High Lord of the SC, resides in). That, to me, goes against Elain’s very enjoyment of the craft of her gardening.

Couple that with the fact that she has completely neglected using those gloves that Lucien gave her. She put them down after they were gifted to her, not even bothering to look at them as if she didn’t care for them. She doesn’t seek protection from the labor of her craft. She doesn’t want to make it easier. She enjoys the challenge. I think Feyre’s perspective on that made it clear.

And again, why would Elain in her right mind willingly go to be with her younger sister’s abusive ex? Why would she? I’m pretty sure she is well aware of what transpired between the two. That she is aware of Tamlin’s actions. Especially when he is partially, if not entirely, responsible for her life quite literally being turned upside down. Having her mortality stripped from her and her love and happiness (or simply content) gone along with it. If she is so visibly uncomfortable with Lucien, who was an accomplice, I’d imagine she would also hold animosity or discomfort for Tamlin tenfold.

Secondly,

Regarding mating bonds being rare: This is a story that encompasses a main group of protagonists. 3’s are SJM’s specialty. Just because 3 brothers may get with 3 sisters does not automatically mean that mating bonds aren’t rare. As a fae romance series with mating bonds clearly being a significant staple throughout, we will encounter mating bonds. Especially with our protagonists. That just seems like logic to me. Even then, it’s been stated and shown time and again that not every mating bond works or is positive. That just because two individuals have a bond doesn’t mean they’ll have good chemistry.

Also take into account that our dear Inner Circle is not the entire continent of Prythian. The Inner Circle does not equal the entire population. So therefore, a small group of mated individuals ≠ a common occurrence.

What’s wrong with the storyline matching up to have a 3:3? Is the perfectionism so wrong? I think that the phrase “too perfect” should be replaced with “complete/completion”. One last brother to one last sister is the remaining piece of the puzzle. Yes, you can argue that the cliche of 3:3 is boring or too simple but this is SJM’s world. She is a cliche author. She always has been.

Lastly,

I believe that Tamlin has had his redemption arc. If you want to call it that at least. In my opinion, he doesn’t need one. His prime arc is over. The series is way bigger than just Tamlin now. I simply see no reason as to why SJM should take more time for Tamlin , who arguably has done more than enough, rather than anything else. I feel like it’d be a backward progression.

Not every character has to be redeemed.

Not every character should be able to find peace or become good after selfish or morally questionable acts.

Not every character calls for major development.

To me, it’s just bad writing to redeem and develop every single character.

Even then, Tamlin is a well written character. He doesn’t need more depth. (I think this post alone proves that people don’t understand him already). He doesn’t need Elain to come in and “fix him”. No one can. No one but Tamlin himself. And we see that if anything, he’s wasting away rather than trying to help himself. He’s wallowing in his grief, anger, and hatred. Be it for others -like Rhys- or himself. It’s on him. Hell, even Rhys tried to help him. Yet he remains unmoving. That is Tamlin’s choice. Elain shouldn’t need to be his catalyst for change. He should.

To Conclude,

I see no logical reason again as to why people think this is a possibility. It just seems like a terrible writing choice for the story of ACOTAR. Of course, SJM can indeed surprise us. She wields the mighty pen after all. But then again, why would she turn around and completely dismiss 4 books of chemistry with a certain shadowsinger just to pitch our third sister with someone like Tamlin or Lucien? If she had planned to do so before, why would there be 4 books worth of obvious chemistry? It’d be a waste. If she has planned or plans to have Elain go with Lucien or Tamlin, why hasn’t she written any semblance of true chemistry between them? If Elain should allegedly have a balance with Tamlin or Lucien, why isn’t there any chemistry? All I’ve seen from Elain is obvious discomfort.

“I can’t get this right!” Minho yelled frustratedly. Clearly, he had been having a rough day and had little to no patience.

It was a simple problem. He had to find the total of somebody’s hospital bills, but he was unable to do so for some reason or the other.

Minho and Chan still continued to work at the hospital part—time while training; They couldn’t lose what they had worked so hard on, after all.

Minho contemplated bursting into tears right there and then. How could he be so stupid?

“What’s wrong?” Changbin glanced over his shoulder. “Oh, that total amounts to 13,478.”

Minho was dumbfounded. He glanced at the younger in shock. “What?”

“All those bills? It’s total is 13,478. See?” Changbin put in on a calculator, and sure enough, there was the number in bold.

Let’s say Minho was a little embarrassed at the fact that what had taken him half an hour took less than five seconds for Changbin. He the thought for a few seconds. “You think you’re so much smarter than me?”

Clearly, he didn’t mean it. Minho knew Changbin was especially talented at math calculations, and he could probably beat him in biology anyday.

But he needed a way to let out his frustration, didn’t he?

“Oh—no, hyung! I swear, I’m sorry, I would never claim tha—” Changbin panicked.

“Oh, shut up.” Minho shoved him onto the bed.

“Wha—what are you doing?” Changbin could feel nervous giggles erupt from his throat already.

“What? Since you’re so much stronger and smarter than me, solve the equations while being tickled. Easy, right?” Minho sneered.

“Hyung—” Before Changbin could even get his next word out, Minho was calling for Chan.

“H—Hey! There’s no reason to do this! Y—You’re smarter! Happy? Please, just let me go!” Binnie whimpered. Chan walked into the room and grinned at Changbin.

“I heard everything, You’re screwed.” He giggled as Changbin began to whine and thrash under Minho’s grip.

Chan helped Minho by grabbing Bin’s wrists and yanking them above his head. Changbin was almost immediately able to pull them down.

“Ugh, It’s getting difficult to hold him down! How did we do it last time?” Chan grunted.

“Hyung, we literally strapped him down.” Minho deadpanned, and the doctor beside him grinned sheepishly.

“Should we tie him again…? Or no???”

“Probably should, you can’t hold him down and we haven’t even started.”

How was Changbin reacting to this whole exchange, you ask? Well, he was losing his mind.

“Hey! There’s no need to—NOHO!” He screamed when a singular finger poked his armpit.

“Someone’s giggly.” Minho joked, and Changbin’s face turned a bright red.

Chan managed to loop a scarf around the trainee’s wrists and to the headboard, but Changbin didn’t even notice as he suffered under Minho’s teasing gaze.

“Soo, your first question. 36 times 67. Go!” Minho called, and Changbin started to think just as Chan dug into his belly.

“Th—AHAHAT’S SOHO UHUNFAHAIR! I CANT DO MENTAL MATH!!” Changbin squealed, and Minho thought for a few seconds.

“Okay! We’ll wreck you right here for a little while and then we’ll let you solve it on paper. Remember, while being tickled. Then we’ll see how smart you are.”

“NONONOHAHAHAHA!” Changbin started to cackle cutely as Minho’s fingers met his sides, and he squirmed away almost completely as Minho continued to scribble his fingers over his sensitive skin.

“You’re just as cute as ever.~” Channie cooed happily at the sight of Changbin squealing and throwing his head back into the pillow underneath his head.

At that, Changbin arched his back and slammed it back down in ticklish agony; Their slight movements across his body had him jerking this way and that.

“Look, we probably didn’t even have to use the shot last time! He’s just as ticklish either way!” Minho exclaimed with glee as Changbin began to laugh hysterically; Chan’s fingers had moved to his ribs.

A wide, bright smile took over Changbin’s face as his eyes crinkled at the edges.

“NAHA—nahahat theheHEHEHERE PLEASE!!” Binnie howled, trembling as he tried to yank his arms down.

He bucked around a little and burst into more laughter; He was just too precious.

“But your reactions are so adorable! We can’t help it.” Chan giggled, digging into the crevices and flinching when Changbin let out a shrill shriek of laughter.

“Okay okay, let’s let him have a break; After all, we need him to do the problems on paper!” Minho demanded, and Chan detached his fingers before beginning to untie the panting trainee.

“Come on! Solve it!”

Changbin started to write the calculation down, just as fingers started scribbling over his ribs again.

“Nahahaha! Plehehease Ihi cahahant!” Changbin whined through his laughter, his handwriting shaking a little as he tried to think.

He managed to solve a few more complex multiplication sums before fingers were in his armpits and he wanted to scream.

So he did. “AAAGH!! NAHAHAHAT THEHEHERE! I REHEHEHEALLY CAHAHAN’T!!” Changbin cackled, slamming his arms down and twisting side to side.

“Too bad. You have to.” Minho continued to cruelly tickle the area, and Changbin fell backwards into his arms, all while still hysterically screaming out his laughter.

Chan threw his shirt up and pressed his lips to Binnie’s hypersensitive side. Minho followed by doing the same on the other side. Changbin just let it happen, knowing he couldn’t prevent it from happening. “P—Plehehease!”

Too late. Both boys blew into poor Changbin’s sides simultaneously, and he lost it.

“NOHOHOHO IHIHITS TOOHOO MUHUHUCH! NO MINHO! CHAHAHAN!! STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!!” Changbin screamed, shoving at both heads as they moved further up and pressed their lips to his lower ribs.

Every time they blew another raspberry, Binnie’s laughter only grew more desperate; It was just getting worse and worse.

“AAAAAARGHHH NOHOHOT THEHEHEHEHERE!!” Changbin howled as the heads blew more and more raspberries onto his ribs in random areas.

“PLEHEHEASE!! IHIH CAHAHANT TAHAKE AHANYMOHOHORE!!”

“Agh…Binnie, you’re so loud! I think we need to shut him up…” Minho groaned, pressing his lips to that sensitive spot along the top of the boy’s ribs.

“PLEASE!! NOHOHOHOHOT THEHEHEHERE NAHAHAHAHAHA!!” Minho shook his head disapprovingly, and both him and Chan blew as hard as they possibly could into the poor boy’s sensitive skin.

Finally, Chan and Minho left poor Binnie alone; He was on the verge of dying.

Gently rubbing at the spots they tickled, the two oldest got ready to treat the youngest to aftercare to make up for the harshest tickling he had been through. At least, yet.

He can teach you how to be a master at video games, coding, stitching, cosplaying, and even war strategies…but don’t ask for math help.

But if you want to cry about how hard math is or how your grade is suffering, Levi will be more than “happy” to cry along with you.

Weird ask but could you further explain how you estimate d!ck length?

Hi! hahah sure! It is not super exact but an estimative way 💁‍♀️ you need a figurine of your character or a picture you know it's from official art/manga, the character's height, a ruler and a calculator!

There are three ways, one is to use the 9% estimated for genital area, the other is to measure a figure, and the other is by simply using an image.

The 9% used in medicine: often refers to the whole genital area so it's not suuuper accurate, however it's valid to estimate the length. You simply calculate the 9% of your characters height. For example: Law is 191cm tall, then 9% of 191= 21.22cm (I would go for 1 to 2cm less)

The "figurine" method; would be for you to use the height of a figurine (the bigger and "original" the better). Though in certain figures it is hard due to their clothing, so I suggest you using one with tight pants for this. So, it's simple, you use a ruler to measure the approximated length of his crotch. Then, you use a simple rule of three. For example: A Law figurine I have is 17cm in height, and using the ruler the length of his crotch is around 1,6 cm ~

Then, you know Law is 191cm. So, you do: if for a height of 17cm --- 1,6 cm for a height of 191cm --- ~ 18cm (as you can see it's close the 9% rule)

Lastly, I thought about proportions of an image. For example, I chose this official art from Byakuya where you can clearly can see his... uh.. thingy:

So, you trace a line where his sex would start on his crotch (again this is all estimative) and trace a line. You copy and paste the same line as many times as necessary to measure his whole body. Then, you calculate, based on how many lines it took you, the height in proportion. You are literally doing a scale. So:

If the line is around 1,6 cm (use the image in 100% zoom for measure) and it took you 11.5 pieces of such line the height is: 11.5 pieces of 1,6 cm (11.5 x 1,6) = 18, 4 cm

Then: if for 18,4 cm --- 1,6cm then, for Byakuya's height that's 181cm --- 15,74 cm

his thingy is around 15.74cm

Important: I am not a math teacher, nor I am good at it. If you happen to find errors or something that's not logical please let me know. This is the way I do it, but it can be wrong :P However, the sizes are pretty normal to what you would find in healthy "normal" (anatomically speaking) men of their height and body size. Of course there are no canon data so you can indulge in bigger fantasies

#1 having flashbacks of high school math because of the line function

I always wanted to learn how to code, and the idea of code always seemed both very easy and very hard at the same time. Now, trying my hand at it for the first time, I realize that I was 100% right in my assessment. This shit is based on very simple concepts, but my mind was not made for math of any kind. Not even the very simple kind.

The way Khan Academy decides to teach people code is incredibly good, as far as I'm concerned. All the times I tried to learn code before it was always based on just writing things and hoping for the best and my head cannot deal with that. I have to actually see things, see results, see the process, so going for a Processing/JS form of teaching actually makes this something my brain can at least attempt to process.

I'm not a complete beginner when it comes to the concepts of coding — I know what a function is, I can understand for loops, and stuff like that —, but I never really tried to code. And how easy this thing proves you know shit even if you think you do. They start by just telling you to create a simple snowman, without ever needing to call more than the ellipsis function and define it's parameters, and you think "but that's too easy".

And then you realize that you actually need think about how ellipsis function works to draw it, what are the coordinates you need to use so it appears in you canvas, and make the math on where the middle is. Let me be clear about something: I can't do 2+2 without a calculator. My bachelors degree is in film studies.

They actually tell you where to draw things, and give hints on the parameters for some stuff, and I thought "nah, I'm gonna just think it through, this is definitely mean for kids".

The actual snowman itself turned out alright, doing that...

Like, it looks okay. I had to go through the parameters a couple of times to get it right, but it worked and my brain wasn't even screaming.

But then they tell you to put arms in the thing.

It turns out that the line function works in a completely different way than the other things you've learn so far. You have to tell it the coordinates of both starting and end point.

I have slight discalculia. Math in high school was a legitimate trauma, and this thing just threw me back into the hell that was analytical geometry. Fun.

From now on I'm just gonna take the hints and use the numbers they tell you to use and spare my brain from the pain of having to understand where things go. I'll just trust their method.

Between trying to remember the size of the canvas, where the coordinates start, and how each function take it's parameters and how they work, this is a lot of information. It will probably get easier as time goes by and I get used to all of it, but for a first time, it's a lot of things to remember.

Coding is one of those things that can have a pretty steep entry barrier, actually, even if you're starting from literal kids stuff, unless you're someone that has an easy time with math.

I literally only found out that someone saying they can “do math in their head” wasn’t an expression for just being able to math quickly or without a calculator they can just literally do math in their head. Literally blew my mind. On a semi separate note I’m also on a waiting list to get tested for dyscalculia lol. Only thing that saved me in my higher level required math classes was asking the teacher if I could take tests before the weekends because if a weekend happened between learning the material and/or test prep I would forget all the formulas come the day of the test. All my non test work and study review would look good but then I’d totally bomb all the tests. Not sure if that’ll help for u but it made my marks just a little bit better and honestly any little bit helps in my case lol./lh

People that can do whole math problems in their head are wild to me too. Like, y’all can do sixteen plus nine without needing a couple minutes and then eventually giving up? Not too long ago I tried to do a simple problem like that in my head and I came up with three answers and not a single one was right 😭😭

Apparently I have this face I make when I’m confused because everyone can tell when I don’t understand something. My poor math tutor looked so sad to tell me not a single answer was the correct one because he knew I was trying hard. My younger brother is a math genius so it makes me looks even worse 😭

My current math teacher is super weird and we haven’t taken a test since December lol. We all flunked the midterm bc he’s a bad teacher so he curved it which saved me. Yes! I just have to actually force myself to do something. I mean I don't necessarily enjoy it, but I can do it and that makes me feel better. Technically I have to do an extra 60 minutes of math in the lab, but I just don't want to so I'm chilling instead of doing math.

I think that's good, her not pushing herself with this college. It is awful when you have people who don't want to work with you, especially for something as important as college. Honestly, I am glad I'm doing it, but to reiterate what both you and I said, it is a lot of money. I guess for some people it is worth it. Agreed! I literally show up like 15-20 minutes early to every class so I can get a good spot and so that I don't have to sit in-between people! :) The best way to describe it is school is school is school lol!

Ugh bestie, I wish I had good suggestions! I try to balance it out but what usually happens is I stay up really late to do my own personal writing. Though something I enjoy is doing like 20-30 minutes of work and then doing 20-30 minutes of personal writing! Sometimes it is nice to take a break from both though lol!

I have seen like 3 different skunks!! They have me paranoid now, but its okay. They don't ever see me. Yay on the no possums! Honestly though, I think pigeons are funny!

Sadly I haven't seen those guys again. However yesterday, there was a group of guys in suits, it is interview week so that's probably why. But anyways, most of the group went into the dining hall, not holding the door open for my roommate or I. But the last guy walked around us to get the door and hold it open for us. Its literally just base line gentleman behavior. But he like actually moved around us to hold the door open and not just walked away while pushing the door harder so it would stay open longer (I hope that made sense lol)

Wow, I didn't expect that early a response to my random question. Random throughts: 1. Based on its description, isn't Torai's Unconstrained similar to Model Zenkichi? 2. The 13 Party ones are very good, very creative ones for Munakata and Kamimine. 3. Nienami's Unpredictable feels like a nerf and Iihiko's Unnegatable feels overwhelming considering at least 2 people has canonically 1v1'ed Iihiko using Namanie's power. 4. I'd change Sakanoue's Unlikely as Gambler's Dog is more related to pot luck

That's true, but in my defense, Torai's Skill is never told to us. Like at all. To the point that I think the idea wasn't that becoming an Abnormal gave her a Skill, but removed the limitations of being a Normal, increasing her physical abilities and possibly her intellect as well. It's one of the few things that I think was a misstep in Medaka Box's story, but more recently I've realized that it's a sign not that Nisio "wrote it wrong," but more that it wasn't something that Nisio thought was important to the core of the story, which is to say, Hitoyoshi and Medaka's relationship. The power system and worldbuilding ultimately took a backseat to the development and exploration of the characters themselves, which I do think was the best move, it just makes me sad because ideally, my favorite story of all time would have all three (hence why Undead Unluck so rapidly caught up as my second favorite)

The Thirteen Party was surprisingly difficult to come up with, at least for the Front Six. The Plus Six didn't surprise me at all, they were just as hard as I expected them to be considering that they were not explored at all, and only half of them were shown in even the barest of detail. Unzen in particular reinforces the point I made above: he's the first Abnormal villain, but we never learn what his Skill is. He's just strong and hyper-intelligent. I still think that his Skill explicitly allows him to run complex calculations, hence how he can understand his sister's math language, but that's only ever going to be headcanon

Nienami was really difficult because I couldn't think of how to work in contradiction any better than I did. I wanted to use Untruth, but the function is so radically different from Shen's that I couldn't justify it as simple reinterpretation. I feel like Unpredictable is pushing it, too. Perhaps I shouldn't have made any of the Candidate Student Council into Negators since they're all supposed to be Normals and then given Unreal to Nienami, as she negates realities (a battleship is too big to cut, so she can cut it; Iihiko can't be defeated, so she can beat him, etc.). I'm really proud of how I interpreted Unreal for Tsugihagista SS Ruby Sapphire the Fifth AKA The Magical Wonder Tsugiha from the Neighborhood, but maybe I'll fiddle with that. Also, Iihiko is overwhelming in canon. Literally the only way to beat him was to get him to attack himself, which I planned to allude to, but since I worked on that post for like three or four hours, I guess I just didn't end up doing it properly

Admittedly I haven't read the Good Loser Kumagawa fan translations yet (I know, shame on me), so I don't know if they go into more detail on the Suisou Student Council's abilities, but from the manga, Gamble Dog is described as the "Skill that controls miracles." I really don't think there's any better way to describe that than as a negation than manifesting Unlikely outcomes. If you have an idea of how it might be better conveyed, I'm all ears, I love talking about this

Disha's Ultimate Cheat Sheet To Getting That 4.0

in case you haven't heard from me making this my entire personality, i get good grades at school. i'm that one kid in class everyone hates because i always hand in my homework on time and they can't get away with falling behind. i set the bar so high that even the jocks can't use it to do pull-ups. teachers fear me because i question their credibility and my friends respect me because they know that i am perfectly capable of making certain subjects work for me. i'm shattering the curve, punching the glass ceiling; i'm every indian parent's dream and every principal's nightmare. here's how i do it:

in class:

prepare ahead as much as you can. the more work you do before the class, the less you will stumble during it. keep track of how much material you cover during class time so that you know what to brush up on before the next session. if you have social anxiety like me, this can make being called on much easier and less stressful because you have more material to work with for the answer. 

have all your study materials organized. no one wants their calculator to die in the middle of graphing quadratics or to have the ink in their pen run out when you finally find out what x is. make sure you have all the materials in your pencil pouch/case before you head to class . . . . unless you want to face the wrath of your math teacher by not having your graph notebook during linear equations. 

silence your phone. as much as scrolling through instagram reels is more interesting than paying attention to whatever the godforsaken hell was going on in ancient greece, don't. even though it's literally impossible to have brain cells at 8am, focusing on the material being taught will ensure that you're not sobbing during exam time.

there is no shame in getting ahead. start your next exercise when everyone's still finishing theirs, go through the textbook before class starts and screw anyone who makes you feel bad for it. 

you don't have to take aesthetic notes. using 10,000 different highlighters and brush pens isn't going to do shit if you can't recall the information you're writing down. they should legible and detailed, but they don't have to be mini works of art. 

ask questions! you can do this before, after or during class (whenever you feel comfortable) but get your doubts cleared then and there, that way you're not scrambling during exam time. 

after class:

do a quick read through of your notes, and mark concepts/problems you don't understand. that way, you can either look them up later or ask a friend. 

write down any important due dates/assignment deadlines. doing it directly after class is better because your memory is fresh and you can work out a decent study plan. 

go to the bathroom and/or fill up your water bottle. many teachers won't let you do this in class so just get it done before. it's that simple. 

grab a quick, light snack if you can, and maybe some caffeine if your school offers it/you have it on hand. i prefer a slice of bread with cheese or maybe some cucumbers. avoid greasy/processed foods because they will bring your energy down. 

homework:

first off, please ACTUALLY do the homework. no putting the whole thing through your calculator, no looking up the answer key online and especially no copying off your friends. teachers assign it for a reason -- so that you can practice the material in a non-test setting. even if you hate your physics teacher, just do the goddamn homework. it'll save your life during exam season.

finish the homework the day it's assigned, or at least the day before it's due. you never know what tests or quizzes could come up. finish off the small assignments now so that you don't have to worry about them later.

start with readings. they're easy and don't require that much brain energy. take a few notes while you're flipping pages so that you don't come up empty handed during class discussions.

do the hard stuff when you have energy. understanding how to diffrentiate is much easier at 4pm then it is at 1am. finish off the hard assignments as soon as you can, that way you can speed through the easy stuff and go to bed earlier. 

make use of your free periods. instead of sitting around on your phone, finishing off a problem set during your free hour will make things so much easier when you get home. also being in a school setting can help you be more productive. 

revision:

do a little every day, but don't let it be your whole day. studying all day, at least for me, is impossible. our brains can only pay attention for a maximum of forty five minutes at a time, so as fun as nine hours of studying sounds, it usually doesn't work very well in the long term. space out your studying throughout the day and you will thank yourself.

be ACTIVE. despite what your teacher tells you, passive methods like reading your textbook over and over again do not do shit for your memory. my personal favorite method is blurting, where you go through/memorize your notes and then write everything you remember on a piece of paper without looking at the book. then identify the gaps in your memory, and relearn where needed. do problem sets, make flashcards, hell, even write a song with vocabulary to jog your memory! just please don't sit there and stare off into space, you'll regret it later. 

past papers are now your best friend. it's like a legal cheat sheet. treat them like the actual exams and time yourself as you complete them. getting used to the mark scheme and question pattern will literally save your life when it's time for exam season. 

make use of your weekends and breaks. a little but of revision in between vacations and beach trips can do wonders for your memory in the long run.

hold yourself accountable. as much as we like to hate teachers who micromanage and constantly look over your shoulder, there is no one except you who is going to face the consequences of low marks. set strict time limits and alarms, and do extra to make up for the days you slack off or weren't able to get to your goals. 

problem sets are a godsend for stem subjects. am i technically asking you to do additional math on top of the work you've already been assigned? yes. but will they give you more confidence, get you used to the mark scheme and generally help you become more proficient? also yes. 

self care:

do not ever, EVER revise when you're emotionally drained or your mental health sucks. to get good grades, you have to be in good health, and sacrificing sleep to cover just that one chapter may not be as good of an idea as you think it is. if you find yourself slipping, take a break. your textbooks will always be here for you to come back to, but your sanity will slip away if you don't focus on yourself.

only take on what you can handle. three chapters of calculus in a day may sound like a decent idea at 9am, but you'll want to kick yourself when you're still struggling to do them at one in the morning. only plan for what you know you can do, there is always time for more. 

take breaks. like i said before, study every day but don't let it be your whole day. drink six glasses of water, go outside for at least an hour, spend time doing something you love. working all day with no downtime is extremely bad for you. 

it's okay to fail. failure is how you learn to succeed. people don’t just wake up knowing all the information in the world. don't get hung up on those one, two or maybe even 3fs on your geometry course. instead, focus on what you can improve and learn from those experiences. 

be kind to yourself. the way you see yourself is often much more critical than the way other people see you, and you are often much more accomplished and bright than you think you are. don't take your grades as a reflection of your soul, your bright, imaginative and whole existence cannot be encapsulated on mere numbers scrawled on a piece of paper. you are so much more more your exam marks.

savemyexams. you do need to pay for some features but the free version has been very helpful for me. 

khan academy. just create an account. it'll save your life i promise!!

physicsandmathstutor. literally the BEST resource for stem past papers (savemyexams works for the other subjects). also the downloads are pretty safe compared to other sites.

cognito (youtube). great stem resources, their videos are short and to the point without missing out on the necessary details. 

the ginger mathematician (youtube). this man is my ron weasley in shining armor, he has quite literally rescued me during math mocks. 

crash course (youtube). great for quick humanities revision and helped me ace my test on the great depression. 

oversimplified (youtube). i personally don't watch their vids but some of my classmates do and it seems to make history revision a lot easier for them. 

lifeat. creates a virtual study space that (if you live in a noisy household like me) helps you focus and cancels out any distractions.

listen. time isn’t real, whenever i get the Urge To Write i wring that baby dry with no regard to my REM cycle or other basic human needs (like breakfast pizza — that is to say, regular frozen pizza i just happen to eat for breakfast — or just, food in general) whatsoever.

💖 what made you start writing?

boooooring answer but, i’ve always wanted to write, have always been writing, it lives inside of me burrowed down deep in my bones the same way i burrow into my admittedly-too-many blankets.

the way i’ve approached my writing + my ambitions for it has certainly evolved, gone through some bumps and bruises along the way — which is quite a long story, really, save it for my memoirs — but i’ve never wanted to not do it. so i just do it, for i am a woman of principles and the principle is life is hell, do whatever u want.

💌 how do you feel about comments and feedback?

give ‘em to me, the more detailed and unhinged the better. i don’t always reply to every comment — tho i certainly do if something needs explained or someone needs reassurance (the number of times i tell y’all you literally never have to worry bc i am but a marshmallow, and my fics are just mini marshmallow pieces of myself, but i’ll keep telling you, no problem) — but i love ‘em all.

mmmmm not really? smtimes i need to pop a li’l some-somethin into google, but i tend to keep my plotlines simple, so there’s not really a need to research. (i did momentarily consider setting the sex shop au in the canonical timeframe, but i didn’t want to research ‘80s sex toys/shops when my personal experience working at the store was already ready and rarin’ to go.)

the most time i’ll spend on anything is a title, if i don’t have one immediately in mind — and i usually have one ready to go, bc most of my fics are inspired by a song or a lyric, but there have been a few times i’ve spent daaaaaays waffling between songs and lyrics, repeatedly googling them to decide which sounds and works best for the fic in question. it’s maddening, i don’t think i’d survive any more intensive research than that.

🏆 what’s your most popular fic?

nooooo idea, tbh. it’s probably something on my ffnet but you could not pay me to access that again, actually i think my password was compromised so that profile belongs to the bots now i suppose. alas, and all that.

anyway, it’s hard to say, i think, because you have to calculate hits and comments and kudos and subscriptions and hoo boy, i am not invested in notions of popularity enough (or at all) to do anything resembling math — tho, sure, i’d be willing to bet that the fake dating au will take the cake on my most popular fic, esp by the time it’s complete.

ultimately, though, numbers aren’t something i bother to worry about unless i’m already having a self-esteem crisis. really zaps the fun — and, more pointedly, the reason i write in the first place — out of it for me.

I think I really might have a learning disorder and I'm fucking crying because knowing it actually makes me feel so relieved?

See, I learned how to speak really early; by the time I was 3, I could speak as eloquently than my 8yo sister, and with a richer vocabulary. I also remember being, in first and second grade, the only kid in my class who could read perfectly, without getting stuck or getting lost. And I was the best at writing. I was also the best at English.

However, I still felt dumb. I've always felt dumb.

See, while I was good at all that, I have always struggled with Math. I took longer to learn how to count. How to, for example, associate the word “two” with “2”. And to this day, I still have to double check sometimes when I read numbers because I might say 13 instead of 31. While my classmates easily learnt how to add and substract numbers in class, my mother had to sit with me every single evening to help me and buy me like a thousand booklets until I finally learnt, and I still struggled a lot. And multiplying-- I probably copied the tables a billion times and I still don't know them.

I still passed most of my tests until sixth grade because I studied really hard, all the time, but it was hell. I saw how some of my classmates struggled a bit, too, but not the way I did: I remember literally wanting to cry every time I was called to the chalkboard and the teacher asked me to divide. I couldn't. I just couldn't. My father sat with me every evening and explained it to me, over and over again, all the time, for two years, and I still couldn't do it. By the time I had done a correct division, my classmates could have done maybe seven or eight. And things got even worse with fractions. Algebra came a bit easier to me at first, being able to do simple equations, but as soon as I finished sixth grade and entered secondary school, I just couldn't. My grades dropped, and it's not like had very good ones. I failed every test with an embarrassing grade, many times I didn't even get the basics right. So I gave up and basically started ignoring Math. That probably costed me two years that I had to repeat, and that took a toll on my mental health, but I swear that my mental health would have gone worse had I kept crying and worrying the way I did before. To my teachers I was lazy and to my parents, I was just bad at Math and that's it. And then again, I dropped the subject as soon as I was allowed to, so no more Math class anymore.

But I still feel stupid. I felt embarrassed to admit to anyone how much I struggle. Many times, I can't tell which way is right or left, and I have to remember that I'm right handed so I can go on. I confuse adresses and get lost all the time because I confuse the number of the houses. I can't even remember my own phone number because, again, I confuse the numbers. I'm bad at calculating distances since like, forever. Doing basic math in my head takes me longer than it should, and sometimes I even have to use the fucking calculator to do stuff like 23+16 because my brain just freezes. I can't even count coins or money bills like a normal person and I have to do recount several times to make sure I wasn't wrong. I get lost while counting a lot of times. Fucking hell, I tell myself, I'm nineteen years old and I get fucking lost while counting.

I was dumb. I didn't know what the fuck was wrong with my head, why I was so stupid at Math. Until very recently, I watched a show: Druck, the German remake of Skam. I found Fatou, the protagonist of the sixth season, incredibly relatable. Not only because, like me, she's a lesbian that's bad at flirting, but also because... She got lost at counting all the time, and had problems counting bills. She got lost easily and confused numbers as well. She couldn't do basic math easily because her brain froze. And she also felt stupid for it. Until she found out that she had a learning disorder.

I read Percy Jackson when I was younger, so I knew what ADHD and dyslexia was since I was a kid. But I had never seen, in any movie, show or book, a person that struggled the exact same way I did. I didn't know it was a thing. But thankfully Druck put a name to it. Fatou did the test, and she found out she had dyscalculia. I'm going to do the test as well whenever I can. I had never heard that term before but I swear, when I looked it up, it felt like Heaven to find out that what happens to me is actually a thing, and it's not that I'm just dumb. So yeah. Representation matters.

HOW did vicious baby, (aka Meng Yao), and Tall Daddy, (aka Lan Xichen), actually meet??

Okay I’m really curious to hear everyone’s take on this because I just watched the donghua and listened to the audio drama and each way is a little different! 

And BECAUSE each way is a little different each way could have many different interpretations and implications for the way I see Meng Yao and Xichen’s relationship.

Exhibit A: The Live Action Version aka Love at First Pinky Stroke OR Is it Actually Just More of Meng Yao’s Conniving Ways?

So in the live action Vicious Baby and Tall Daddy meet after Tall Daddy very ala Jane Austin rescues Meng Yao from the nasty social comments of some random hoes. 

Meng Yao seems both genuinely grateful and genuinely smitten at Xichen’s chivalry...

Whereas soon as Xichen sees him smile he literally makes this face. 

Poor Daddy Lan Legs is literally struck dumb by the sight of Meng Yao peering up at him all doe-eyed from beneath his dark lashes. But alas Meng Yao puts the kabash on any possible romantic entanglements much to the audience’s disappointment. Meng Yao is after all, at this point in the show, a taken bottom and his loyalty to Nie Mengjue seems sincere.

 At the very least the face he makes when looking at him in this scene shows that he and Nie Boss Daddy are definitely fucking and Meng Yao is definitely into it. 

Too bad for ol’ Xichen who immediately compensates by trying to vicariously live a romantic life by becoming way too invested in his younger brother’s. 

Then Meng Yao fucks up in front of Mingjue, compensates by getting stabbed for him...

---- BUT knows he’s still on the hook when he hears this.

So here’s my thinking: if this is the real way they met it seems obvious there was some sort of attraction. Therefore, when Meng Yao hears about the burning of Cloud Recesses, he must be genuinely concerned and wanting to help Xichen. 

That’s what I WANT to believe. OR is Meng Yao just already doing the math in his head and figures he might be banished and thinks that if he’s gonna have a rebound it might as well be a rich, powerful, hot and kind one. What is it they say about sociopaths again? How they’re always able to single out the kind people?

I don’t know. Thoughts anyone?

Exhibit B: The Audio Drama aka Xichen is Adorable Helpless Rich Boy and Meng Yao is the Girl Next Door

In a cute extra in the audio drama we see an overly eager Xichen trying hard to pull his weight at the (inn? whorehouse? Meng Yao’s house?) by doing a set of laundry which he proceeds to accidentally tear to shreds. Meng Yao shoes Xichen away from the clothes before Xichen can create more sewing work for him. Xichn laments being a helpless, rich boy who doesn’t know his own strength, expressing regret that now Meng Yao has twice the work on his hands having to care for the both of them. 

Meng Yao however tuts this away, saying he’s used to doing chores. He finds Xichen’s fumbling endearing. However, as he leans over to scrub Xichen’s robes he notices the distinct pattern of the Gusu Lan clan. 

First off, WHAT THE HELL XICHEN?? You’d think the leader of the Lan clan would be a little brighter than this and think to hide his clan robes when he’s on the FREAKING run from the Wen clan.

Meng Yao however, doesn’t call him out but does gently hints that he should keep the robes out of sight.

Meng Yao: These patterns...

Xichen: Hm?

Meng Yao: Nothing! I just think they’re pretty...um young master, these robes are important aren’t they?

Xichen: Yeah I suppose so! ^__^

Meng Yao: Then it would probably be a good idea to keep them stored safe somewhere right? 

Xichen: ^___^

Meng Yao: Like out of sight....

Xichen: ^___^

Meng Yao: Away from prying eyes....?

Xichen: ^____^

Meng Yao: Hide your f**king robes you beautiful simple man!

The whole scene ends with an adorable exchange as Xichen stubbornly gives laundry one last try and fail and Meng Yao gently and playfully teases him for it. 

Okay so if this is the true way they met then once more there is evidence that there was a genuine attraction between them at first and one without any of Meng Yao’s schemes! He truly hadn’t known who Xichen was before deciding to help him. 

This is another version I want to believe.

Exhibit C: The Manghua Version aka Xichen: Meng Yao Would Take a Bullet For Me I Swea---no, no, stop shaking your head Wangji

So this version is the most questionable because its told from Xichen’s POV and he’s biased because he really BELIEVES in Meng Yao. 

We know Meng Yao rescued Xichen, that much is true. 

But Xichen claims Meng Yao rescued him only out of the goodness of his heart without knowing who he was. That he did it because he despised the tyranny of the Wen clan. 

Okay so does that sound a little hollow to anyone else’s ears or is it just me? First off, when has Meng Yao ever just done something out of “the goodness of his heart?” That boy is a calculating bitch! 

Second off, Meng Yao is clever enough to most likely at least know the way Gusu Lan cultivators dressed. Even if he didn’t recognize Xichen as the clan leader he’d still be smart enough to know that having a connection with any member of the Lan clan might benefit him in the future.  Also when do we EVER hear Meng Yao criticize the Wens?? Not once!

I feel like this version makes Meng Yao out to be more sus especially since we see Xichen talking him up later on to Nie Mingjue. This makes Xichen and Meng Yao’s relationship out to be a lot faker than the others as its not a far leap to think that Meng Yao decides to rescue Xichen to gain his favor, only pretending to not know who he was. 

It would fall in line with other bit of the show such as when Meng Yao COMPLETELY manipulates Xichen’s emotions by giving him back the Lan Jade talisman. 

I actually don’t hate this because I think that the donghua is definitely making Meng Yao out to be a lot scarier and evil and I kind of still dig that. 

Exhibit D: The Novel aka I actually don’t really remember this one...

 I don’t remember this one guys. I don’t think we ever actually see it do we? Like don’t we just hear Xichen say that Meng Yao helped hide him when the Wen’s were after him? But we don’t know exactly how they ran into each other or wether they had known each other before or anything? 

Again. IDK.

Also, her being into fashion!! She'd drag whoever's with her to as many clothing shops as possible and makes them sit through her trying on like 43 different items.

One time a salesperson tried to sell her a last season dress from the clearance section for the full price and she was like "!!! oh!!! Is this a low-viscosity rayon? With half-loop top-stitching on the hem?" and the salesperson is like "uhhh yea absolutely. We just got it in yesterday actually. It's one of a kind." and she just looked them dead in the eye with a smile and says smth like "lol no you didn't I remember seeing this dress in a Vogue issue like a year ago. If you're trying to sell it to me for full price, you picked the wrong girl :)" and whoever's with her at the time just stares at her shocked cuz they just learned their cute lil baby reader is actually not as dumb as she lets on lmaooo

I can see it:

Megumi and Yuji just looking down at the add math equation that Maki had found online, Megumi trying to solve it more than Yuji since Yuji is a whole ass himbo himself. Daydreaming!reader returned to the class they were chilling in with a tray of iced tea, tilting her head at how three of them were pretty much hunched over the desk with Megumi typing away on the calculator. “What are you guys doing?”

“Oh. Maki-senpai found a math equation online and we’ve been trying to solve it for a while now.” Yuji admitted as she placed the tray down, pouring everyone a glance of iced tea as she looked the question over from Megumi’s shoulder; the raven-haired boy just moving aside a little to give her a better look. Wordlessly she grabbed his pencil from his hand, writing down the rest of the equation with ease. She didn’t even need to use a calculator, just humming softly to herself as she writes the rest of it down; putting the right answer at the end. “There, should be right.”

She had not noticed the stares she was getting from Megumi and Maki as Yuji had handed her the cup, having not noticed what his senpai was doing when he was pouring the drinks. “H-How?!” Maki asked in shock as she slapped her hand against the table, causing both her and Yuji to jump as they looked over at her with wide eyes. Even poor Megumi had jumped a little at how loud she was. “How did you solve that so quickly?! Without a calculator at that?!” 

She just blinked at Maki in confusion, taking a sip from her cup. “Was it supposed to be hard?” Was the simple question tossed to both Maki and Megumi, who both blinked at the girl owlishly as Yuji asked if she wanted to see a cute dog video; the girl bounding over to her kouhai, both of them giggling and cooing at the video of the shiba puppy playing on the screen of his phone.

The other is probably Nobara and Yuji, since they are the only two are willing to go out shopping with her besides Yuta. But since Yuta is currently outstation, Yuji and Maki have become your go-to shopping buddies. Usually Yuji is just your bag carrier since mans is so damn strong lol; just feed him food and he’s all good. Nobara and reader were at some fashion boutique selling a few designer pieces by local artists. 

And if there one thing that daydreaming!reader is good in, is following trends and fashion.

So she might be holding up a dress, smiling down at how cute it looked as she asked Yuji if he liked it; to which he said it was cute, since it did. The employees in the boutique realised awhile ago that she wasn’t the brightest, and had smirked to one another as they spotted a dress on the sales rack that they’ve been struggling to sale for awhile now. So one of the saleswomen grabbed it and walked towards the girl with a perfected smile, asking if she wanted to try it on. 

Reader just looked over the dress before she tilted her head a little, picking it up before she turned it on the hanger; listening to the saleswoman as she tries to sell her the dress, saying how it was the newest and hottest design. She was cut off by reader as she hummed, giving the woman a raised eyebrow. “Last year, this came out last year.” She stated simply, to which the saleswoman zipped her mouth up as the reader started to give her the basic rundown of the designer who created this, and what the inspiration was for the design, and the different materials as well. 

She left the saleswoman blushing in embarrassment as she returned it to the wordless saleswoman with a smile, not registering that she had embarrassed the woman as she waved her off. “Thank you for bringing this to me, but I wouldn’t buy it at full price.” She admitted truthfully before Nobara called out for her, to which she just smiles before she walked towards the other girl wordlessly. 

Needless to say, whenever she returns to the store from time to time, no one dares to make another comment once more lol.

On Genshin Impact: Zhongli

Now I’d like to preface this by saying that I do appreciate Jinjinx and Tuner and their maths and that this isn’t a criticism of them as much as it is a criticism to the folks out there who hate Zhongli and the various arguments given. a) We were baited into rolling through MiHoYo’s false advertising. No. You weren’t. You were baited into rolling for the character because of information obtained from a beta because you can’t understand the simple concept that whatever happens in a beta is subject to change. Unless you mean to tell me that you looked at a cool ad wherein a character attacks and decided that he’s DPS material, which is... kind of understandable but strange, as that would mean that if Soraka is seen attacking, she’s an ADC. ((No, please don’t build Soraka ADC, I’ve seen it, it’s really, really iffy.))

b) Why wouldn’t they make him a DPS if they gave him cool animations?

Why wouldn’t they? The visual design of a character does not necessarily correlate to their roles. Not all wizards have pointy hats and be old, not all fighters walk around in breastplate.

c) He’s not even a good support!

Debatable, but it’s very hard to weight defensive supports against offensive ones because the latter is generally more flashy and something you can really feel while the former is a lot less exciting to think about.

d) Noelle’s shield is better than his!

Noelle’s shield scales with her DEF, which is something you’ll probably be building on her due to how her Burst scales.

Zhongli’s shield scales with HP%

This means that, depending on the calculation, odds are Noelle’s shield will be tankier than Zhongli’s, if only because there’s not as much damage reduction (as far as I understand it. I don’t really know shield mechanics and whether or not damage reduction applies before damage is applied to the shield. It it does then you’ll get more mileage from Noelle’s shield because you probably stacked defense, which means a greater percentage of damage reduction, which means less damage is applied to the shield.) So yes, her shield is better than his, except for the simple fact that his shield does AoE, thus generating quite a few shields for you to pick up and has half the cooldown her does, while having roughly double the duration. This means that if you use his shield not to enable your (masochistic) face-tank fantasies but as a safety net or an opportunity to sneak in some extra attacks, his shield will probably last you all the way up to recast.

Does this make his shield better than hers instead? No clue, it really depends on how you use it and honestly, I think it’s impossible to calculate shield value by virtue of it being a shield. You have to calculate the number of hits a shield can take, how much DPS you lose out on a stagger, the opportunity cost of attacking while the shield is up, etc etc. I personally think that his shield is good if you’re a somewhat decent player because it’s a nice safety net. e) He doesn’t do good damage! Xiangling does more damage than him! He’s a support, not a DPS. I don’t know what their stats are as the wiki doesn’t state it, but he may have more base stats than her, which in turn would work much like the Diluc vs Razor argument, wherein Razor has a higher attack percentage on his attacks but Diluc has a high base stat to work with resulting in Diluc outdamaging Razor anyway. Dreamy made a video on it, I don’t really remember much from it though as it’s been a while. f) He’s bad, you just can’t admit it!

He’s not bad, but I certainly won’t say he’s great. Is he worthy of being called a 5 star unit? Honestly? That’s debatable. The only other 5 star I have is Childe and he can’t reach his maximum potential with me (at c0) because I don’t have the crit damage bow he needs. I do have Diluc on my NA account which I don’t play and I’ll admit that Diluc feels really smooth to use and play however, but he’s basically Riven and saying that an easy-to-use-Riven feels better to play than tanky-Trundle is kinda... well yeah. Hard comparison. g) According to the numbers, he’s not worth it! It really depends. I don’t agree with Tuner’s statement that Zhongli is only good when you can swap out a character because you’d have enough DPS for your content because I think Zhongli can provide some quality of life that makes it easier for you to clear said content. Additionally, if you pair him with Geo MC (and why wouldn’t you) you’d get quite a bit of free damage. Hell, even pairing him with Ningguang is pretty darn good due to her buff from walking through the screen and his pillars basically letting her act as a turret, which means that he can enable more DPS output that you would otherwise (because dodging takes up time and stamina which can be converted to more DPS). Given that it’s tremendously difficult to calculate quality of life changes (literally how), I’m really not sure one can say that he’s bad. Underwhelming perhaps because of them, but not bad. h) You’re just unhappy he’s getting buffs! No, I’m happy he’s getting buffs. I just don’t think this was the buff he needed. If anything, I really want his pillar to generate energy, and, though it’s definitely broken, for it to scale with the number of constructs around. I’d like for Zhongli to do an Unlimited Meteor Works. Additionally, I’m not sure about buffing a character because of a community whining for him to be something he wasn’t meant to be is a good thing, and that’s power creep aside. Yeah, it’s a PvE game and so power creep may not (to some) matter as much, but I’ve seen how games can be ruined by power creep. i) You’re just a blind devotee to MiHoYo and Zhongli! Or you’re paid!

I wish they were paying me, and no. I wish MiHoYo wouldn’t make the whatever-oculus’ into a treasure hunt. It’s annoying. I wish Violetgrass was available for purchase. I think getting 4 star weapons on the character banner is asinine and you should get the banner character guaranteed for your first 5 star when you roll on that banner. Additionally, I wish that they would make MC’s ability to change elements easier, I think resin makes sense but is kind of ass and I wish exp is easier to earn.

The game has faults, as does the company because they’re the ones making them.

Also I don’t even Honkai Impact, I installed it and didn’t touch it on my phone for 3 months. I personally think that Zhongli makes a player’s life easier. It doesn’t mean that I think he’s someone you should absolutely roll for, or that he’s without flaws. When I look at a character and their kit, I think about the role they fill and not the roll I want them to fill.

How do people do mental math...?

I’ve always wondered how the process works. I’m slow, and I mean SLOW when I'm trying to calculate a problem mentally. I literally have to imagine a whiteboard and writing out the math problem, and go through the old-school method of solving it as if I were solving it on a piece of paper or something (except since I'm trying to do it mentally and not on actual paper, the process is even slower because I'm trying to hold the image, the numbers, and process the calculation at the same time). 9 out of 10 times, I’ll forget a step, or have to start over mid-calculation.

I’ve always struggled with math, so calculators were a god-send. But... I’ve started to wonder if this was less of a math issue, and more of an ADHD issue. Like simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division that comes SO EASILY to people trips me up so hard, I NEED to use a calculator. It’s not that I don’t know what to do with the numbers, I just can’t do it all inside my head.

It’s... frustrating, embarrassing, and annoying... especially because most people I know can do it so easily. Like, most people don’t have trouble calculating a 15% tip on $24.36, right? I just can’t. I NEED a calculator for this... or, alternatively a pen and paper to write the stuff down and calculate it the manual way. Can’t do it in my head no matter how hard I try.
