There she stood at the edge of the cliff overlooking the last remnants of the fireworks show. Though duty called for her to be seated in the festival planquin, she never enjoyed being far from the festivities. It was tradition for her to make her escape early in the evening, a fact you knew well. Not that you could blame her. The Naganohara fireworks were always a delight to see. Even after centuries they never grew old.

“There’s no need to stand so far away,” she called out without turning her gaze from the sky. “You know I don’t bite.”

“I shall remain here, Lady Guuji,” you replied with a bow.

She sighed as she usually did. From the time you both were but young kits, you made sure to keep a distance from your lady. You were her guard, after all, a role she never cared for. Not that it was much of a surprise. She was never one for formalities, something you always did your best to uphold. 

“It really wouldn’t hurt to relax every once in a while. I promise I won’t bite.”

But you remained where you stood.

“Lady Saiguu asked me to watch over you.”

She turned upon hearing that, her eyes cold and her cherry pink lips in a frown. It wasn’t an expression she showed to many people, but you never felt honored upon seeing it. In the back of your mind, you lost track of the amount of times you spoke those words. They came automatically at this point. Still, if only she knew you said them more for yourself than her. 

As she began making her way back to you, you fought the urge to step back. The look in her eyes was different now. Analytical. Searching. Immediately you knew you should be on guard. But with the sway of her hips and the shape of her lips, you found your mouth going dry. 

“Yes. A promise you loyally followed all these years. She was your first love, was she not? I can’t help but wonder…”

She stood before you now, illuminated in the moonlight. And when she took a step closer, then once more, you felt your heartbeat quicken. Your fingernails still were digging crescents into your palm. You took a shaky breath, then again once more. You then turned to follow after your lady.

UGH YES,,, Teehee Akademiya Dottore who definitely despises all holidays, not just Christmas... he was never included or appreciated on such days (on any day actually </3) so it leads to resentment for them, as well as a general annoyance whenever he sees anyone celebrating. Unfortunately, you didn't know his exact reasoning for hating the holidays (just assumed he was very grumpy) since this is only your first year together (he is very guarded) but you still want to give him a gift to show your appreciation!! He may be irritated and mean to you sometimes but you still care about him very much!

It's no surprise that Zandik is a difficult person, even more so when you're trying to be nice to him... you present him with a very nicely wrapped gift, name tag and all, to which he just stares at you... opens his mouth and then closes it, then opens it again and rolls his eyes... going on about how you wasted your time/money/effort/whatever on doing this and that he finds the whole 'gift-giving' thing stupid... after a bit of back and forth of you trying to force him to take the gift you just huff at his difficult ass and give up... you try to play it off but you can't lie that you are a bit sad your crush friend couldn't accept your gift.

But then Zandik just snatches it out of your hands and acts as if he's doing YOU a favor by accepting the gift... saying that he'll accept it just this once, since everything is all done and said. Despite his usual expression of annoyance, his heart is beating a lot faster than he wants to admit!! Because despite all his eye-rolling and tongue-clicking of all the holidays, it feels nice to be noticed on one. To be appreciated. To be seen as a human and not a monster. In the shared dorm room when you're not there, he opens the gift (very carefully i must add, he keeps the perfect wrapping paper that has no rips) and just... stares at the gift. He... likes it a lot.

The only question now is, does he make himself a fool and try to gift you back something as well...?

I'm curious: How do you perceive kudos? As the person whom you reblogged put it, I have comment anxiety, so I often stay silent. But kudos ... when I press that button I do so because I found the writing excellent, the story wonderfully crafted, it made me feel feelings (happy, sad, or everything in between), I thought about it for days/weeks after, etc. Do they mean the same to you as a recipient?

Hi anon! It makes me happy to see my email with kudos I received during the prior day, and I love seeing familiar usernames, kudos from friends, kudos from people whose usernames are entirely unfamiliar to me, kudos from one person on multiple stories. I don't believe I am owed comments or that anyone is owed comments, and it means a lot when someone takes the time to read one of my stories. That little gesture of pressing that kudos button is always appreciated.

But no, kudos don't mean the same thing to me as a comment does. Not because kudos isn't great, but because a comment feels so personal, like a gift. It's an immediate endorphin rush to read even a very short comment expressing what someone felt about a story. As a writer, nothing really beats someone taking the time to leave some written thoughts on my work. Whether it's a single line or a multi-paragraph deep dive, a comment notification makes my heart beat faster, simply put.

(And I'll add that I know that as a commenter, I sometimes leave those long multi-paragraph deep dives out of sheer enthusiasm. Other times, my comments are much shorter. I try not to get too in my head about that, hoping that authors appreciate a comment regardless of what kind of time I have. Also, the length of my own comments is NEVER something I'd want people reading my work to feel self-conscious about when choosing what to say about my stories...I love all comments, short and long, general and detailed!)

Some people are just not into leaving comments, and that's okay. I would never want leaving me a comment to feel like a chore, and as I said before, no one creating anything is owed a particular type of feedback. But since you said you have comment anxiety, that makes me infer that perhaps you want to be leaving comments, and would do so if it didn't make you feel anxious. So let me just say that in your ask to me, you constructed an absolutely perfect format for your comments:

"I found this writing excellent. It made me happy and I'm going to think about this for days."

"Your story was wonderfully crafted. I felt happy, sad, and every emotion in-between. I thought about it for *weeks* and now I'm back let you know!"

"Your writing is excellent. I'm so sad about [character] now, and just had to tell you."

You could always add something specific about what that person's writing was doing that felt so wonderfully crafted, or pull out a line or two that really stuck out to you as great, but there's certainly no obligation. The above comments, built out of your own words, would make my day to receive and I think I can speak for most writers here in saying it's hard to think of a writer who wouldn't feel the same. And in terms of the anxiety of having an interaction online...after leaving a comment like that, the "worst" thing that would happen is the writer feels happy about your comment but doesn't answer. (Which, again, their prerogative. No questions asked. Everyone interacts differently.) The best thing that could happen is that you'll hear back from a writer and be affirmed that your feedback made a real difference in their day. And either way, you'll know you made someone happy.

This is sooooo true, and why I find Elia/Martell stans to be so annoying even though I love several Martell characters (same with house Stark stans tbh). They love throwing stones and then hiding their hands. They put their hate in the main tags and call Rhaegar a pedophile/rapist/racist/abuser/etc., Lyanna a spoiled brat/heartless temptress, and shit talk shippers cause they think the fanon they invented justifies it but the second a Rhaelya gives a fraction of that energy back, they play the victim. Cause you're right, it's not enough for them. At the root of it, they're forever going to be mad that Rhaegar, Lyanna, and their relationship are popular + important to the story. They swear they don't care but then they never shut up about them. Just another case of people wanting to be morally superior and getting pissy when things don't go their way.

Also, your 'Amon stays in the CCG and works with Haise' AU is fantastic and should have been canon. Poor Amon misses Eyepatch terribly (he still has QUESTIONS damnit!) but doesn't want to get Haise (or Akira) in trouble, so he can't really say much, but he and Haise get suspicious of the CCG being corrupted. They investigate together, but they have to be discreet and they HATE IT, the CCG is supposed to represent justice! Inner!Kaneki drops hints and nags Haise in the background constantly.

YESSSSS GOD AMON AND HAISE NOT INTERACTING IN :RE WAS SUCH A MISSED OPPORTUNITY TO ME I WAS SO GENUINELY SURPRISED WHEN THEY NEVER DID

In the context of my AU I think Amon would feel so let down by the emergence of the Quinx project. He's spent all this time investigating the CCG's suspicious sides and almost uncovered what they were really aiming to do and then it just gets. Announced, just like that. That they're putting ghoul organs in people to use as weapons. It feels wrong. Everything clicks terribly into place. But he can't say anything. And Eyepatch is gone already (or so he Thinks) It all feels anti-climatic, somehow.

Then he meets this new investigator, who shakes his hand and greets him cheerily. He's being mentored by Akira. They are to treat him as a human unless he loses control, to which they'll treat him as a ghoul. It's Eyepatch. It's Haise Sasaki. Amon has to stomach the thought of both working with him and potentially having to "erase" him if he remembers who he is. He likes Haise, even if he's different from Eyepatch, but Haise might not be around forever, for one reason or another. He's never had to kill a co-worker or friend before. (I think, similar to Akira in canon :re Amon would be assigned a big role in leading squads when the CCG has to keep Haise under control. It only makes sense, he's done significant damage to him before, in half-kakuja form no less, and managed to escape this guy even without a weapon. And he's also like, one of the Only Guys who has ever killed a ghoul with his bare hands before.) Still though, the thought of killing Haise, whether it be with a quinque through the heart or the snap of a neck, is nauseating.

The CCG higher-ups are suspicious, obviously, because Amon is the only one who truly knows Everything about Eyepatch, and he might screw with Haise's memories. They're keeping an eye on him and make sure they don't get too close, unless Amon needs to confront Haise, since Haise, even when losing control, just can't seem to hurt him. Not really at least (if it ever does happen he feels So Guilty) ((Also sidenote but Haise probably visibly winces when he first meets Amon. His head hurts and he's not sure why. He feels melancholic and he doesn't know why. He feels a flood of relief. But he doesn't know why. He likes Amon a lot and wants to get to know him. The white-haired ghoul in his head seems particularly fixated on him, won't stop looking at him. Haise somehow knew Amon's name before he was even told what it was. He surmises that it's just because Amon is so well-known in general. (He knows, deep down, that it might be more than just that)))

Haise has small recollections of memories, but he can't tell anyone, obviously. Sometimes he has nightmares of flower fields and battles under the rain. When he and Amon get closer he tells him a little about them. "It's probably nothing" he laughs, unsure, but Amon knows what they really mean. He sees Eyepatch in Haise and it hurts terribly. He fears the chance that he'll never get to ask the questions he had, almost as much as he fears the chance that one day he suddenly will. The answers he's wanted for so long are so close that they are literally standing right next to him, yet they're so far.

As things move forward they definitely try to investigate and figure out the CCG's corrupt system together. But they have to be careful, on the outside co-workers (including Akira) make comments about how close they are and what a good team they make but within the inner-workings of the CCG they have their careful eyes on them. Maybe Akira's a little weary about it, tells Amon as such sometime and Amon says he knows (but there are things he can't tell even her.) Maybe one time Haise and Amon talk briefly, maybe after or during Haise losing control of himself and he says something and it sounds hauntingly like Eyepatch. Haise had looked at him differently during that moment. His voice sounded different. It was pained, but not in the physical sense. Maybe it wasn't Haise at all, actually.

Haise has a dream once about a man shouting asking him if he really is just a ghoul. Somehow he doesn't feel like it's for him. (But surely it means something to Kaneki Ken). Maybe, like in that comic I drew, Kaneki is incredibly relieved that Amon is alive, but also terribly jealous that all he can do is watch from the shadows LOL

Ough sorry I got SO carried away I've just been meaning to list out some of the details of my AU thoughts for AGES this has been living rent free in my mind for MONTHS it's one of my favorite thoughts Ever

Oh my god I love this question so much……. Sorry in advance for the long answer to this but I’ve been wondering if anyone else has ever wondered this about me LOL

So fun fact: I actually have a twin sister who also ults skz! when we started stanning, we purchased their bubble tickets and split it into: she pays for hyung line bubble messages and I pay for maknae line. So I was only really obsessed with Jisung and didn’t quite have a bias wrecker picked yet. I very quickly became obsessed with the rest of my line (having bubble will do that to you lol) so I bias maknae line and she biases hyung line. Meaning SHE biases Minho…. So I don’t know when exactly, but I was always cracking jokes about how Minho isn’t part of my line, and my sister started this running joke that I should bias Minho and she always started saying the most out of pocket sexual jokes ever “you should be his manager and have backstage sex with him” and I’d be like nooo stop he’s not even my line!!! So when I first started writing on here I was really partial to writing abt Felix (I’m a Felix collector mainly) and he’s the one I’d have the most inspo for. Well when I got my first Minho request on here I was nervous af bc I was like I don’t bias him and he’s not even one of my bias wreckers🙁 Well let’s just say having someone in your ear talking about you and Minho having sex as a joke ALLL THE TIME came in handy bc I quickly started having the MOST inspo for him when it came to fic writing. Very quickly I started to get an influx of comments about how I write him the best and they like all my Minho stuff best so I just kept the cycle going and then it started to get bad in real life too…. Also it's kind of hard for me to decide what kind of music I think they'd listen to. I feel like there's a lot of different music they might like... Dramatic instrumental music for one thing. Like Dullscythe by Porter Robinson is a big one I think they'd like. Go Find Out For Me from the Luca soundtrack... That kind of dramatic instrumental music. And Experience by Daniel Hope, I Virtuosi Italiani, and Ludovico Einaudi. Maybe they'd be into classical music in general too. I also think they might like bands like The Oh Hellos and Of Monsters and Men, and some Coldplay songs (mostly from their early 2000s albums)? Radical Face as well. That could just be me projecting, but I think they might resonate with some of the lyrics and the vibe in general. Like a calm/comforting vibe.

And then on the other hand. They might be an Angry Music kind of person too. This one's definitely me projecting but I think they'd like Mother Mother. Maybe rock music in general sometimes, I don't know. Or maybe not rock music, maybe more like alternative music...? Songs with like a bitter kind of vibe to them. Like Monster by Dodie or Community Gardens by The Scary Jokes. But. Yeah.
