Episode 85- May 16th, 2023- Jaiden Animations Episode- Requested
Author’s note- Sorry for dipping in the middle of chuckle lore week, I got sick. I’m not 100% there yet but I still want to finish what I’ve started even if it’s later than expected. More details on my previous post if you’re interested.
Lore- Jaiden gets significantly cooler compared to her first appearance thanks to her tattoo sleeves and her newfound drug addiction (coke and crack)
Thoughts- I’m not going to lie, I’m a huge Jaiden fan and I was really happy to see it be one of the two episodes chosen for the fan request. I have easily watched this one episode at least five times, it’s the episode that made my mom a fan, the episode I attempted to introduce to my dad (more on that later), and it’s the episode I watched as a pallet cleanser to the Karl Jacobs episode. This is just a long winded way to say I really like this episode.
I was nervous at first that I was overhyping this episode in my head but it still holds up since the last time I watched it in November. Jaiden had really good chemistry with the guys and she seemed a lot more confident compared to her last appearance back in episode 26. The humor and overall banter just hits hard and it’s one of those episodes where no one was trying too hard to be funny. It’s just such a vibe and I hope Jaiden returns as a guest in a future episode. 10/10, don’t question my bias.
Things I noted:
Jaiden was included in the intro which is such a nice touch
Is Schlatt drinking Kool Aid?
Schlatt is the only person who could get away with saying that Jaiden (an aroace person) gets pussy
12:50 I’m living for the Tucker Live Reaction
21:04 Ted yells at a fly to fuck off
Hasan is so right about Ted being the whitest white man
“I can’t believe that I’ve had a positive impact on your life” “You’ve had and that’s the only one” 💀
The way Schlatt makes sound effects of bits vaguely reminds of Fluffy
42:03 MEG MENTIONED ‼️‼️
Jaiden chooses unlimited games and is a pickle with a toothpick
(Originally notes, favorite comment, + a little story under the cut)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay story time:
This is the only time I will ever mention my father btw
(For context I had been trying to get my dad to listen to CS for a while but my little siblings aren’t allowed to watch/listen to Schlatt)
There was this one time my stepmom took my brothers out grocery shopping while me and my father were cleaning the house. Usually, my dad would put on the radio as we cleaned but he didn’t for whatever reason that time so I used it as an opportunity to put on this episode of CS without my headphones on.
My father wasn’t fully paying attention, he might’ve gave a comment here or there but it wasn’t until either the Amelia Earhart or the psychic section where he had something to say. It started off with a few fun facts that I don’t really remember but he just made a left turn out of nowhere and starts talking about 9/11 conspiracy theories. I was just so flabbergasted, he kept talking about how it was an inside job by Bush and how somehow McDonald’s was involved?? It was something about the Monopoly sweepstakes scandal and how McDonald’s was going to address everything around the time the towers fell I think???
I have never been so confused in my life but he seemed really excited about it like it was his special interest or something so pop off I guess??? I just kinda paused the episode to let him yap until he was done twenty minutes later and processed what I just heard.
I don’t really talk to him anymore but I think about this interaction at least once a week.

The more I think about it, the more I think that good storytelling captures the same feelings children get when they receive gifts. Shaking a gift to guess what’s inside is a natural extension of a child’s curiosity, and in the same way, fan theories are natural extensions of fandom. Theories capture the same sense of wonder that many of us had as children, and in the hands of a good writer, a reveal is never 100% disappointing.
When a child opens a gift, they will either find that it is A) exactly what they expected and wanted, B) something they wanted, but didn’t expect to get, C) something they wanted a little less that they still like, D) a completely unexpected item that still caters to their interests and hobbies, E) something that you expected and didn’t want, and F) a completely unexpected and unwanted item. Say, for instance, that you asked for a guitar for Christmas and see a roughly guitar-shaped box. Your six options here are:
A) expect a guitar, get a guitar
B) expect your parents to get you a banjo from the pawn shop, get a guitar
C) expect a guitar, get a bass
D) a lamp made from an old guitar
E) that old banjo from the pawn shop
F) a life-size cardboard cutout of a guitar
For many, A is the most satisfying option. You got what you wanted and you expected it, leaving you with a victorious feeling of “calling it.” B comes pretty close, even without the feeling of “calling it.” But even C-E aren’t entirely disappointing, even if they come with feelings of initial disappointment.
You still think basses are cool in this scenario, and figure it’ll be easier to find a band that needs a bassist than one who needs a guitarist. The lamp can’t play music, but it’s pretty funky and impresses your friends. You can’t stand banjos, but you know your parents don’t have much money and maybe there weren’t any old country singers who wanted to pawn their guitars where you live. But even that’s okay—it can make music and it shows you that your parents care.
Just like this scenario, I like to think that A and B are the options that truly make fans lose their shit. Sure, the “X is really evil/Y/Y’s sibling/Y’s parent” twists are pretty predictable at this point, but they can give the same feeling as the guitar in this story. That feeling of either “I called it” or “I was hoping for it, but I never thought the creators had the balls to actually do it” fuels fandom. At first glance, you’d think this would disappoint fans, but often, this just fuels them to ever more passionate theories. For instance, “we know now that Y’s brother was evil, let’s predict how he became evil” is a common fandom line of thought because it uses the sort of engaged reading and prediction-making commonly taught in schools. Children who are able to pick up on subtle foreshadowing and make accurate predictions are hailed as “bright,” while authors who use these sorts of details in children’s books are seen as “classics.”
So why is today’s media so populated by unpredictable, unexpected, and unwanted plot twists? This topic has been covered to hell and back on Tumblr, and I can’t claim to have any more of a definitive answer than anyone else on here. But here’s what I think—surprise, as an emotion, is becoming increasingly valued in our entertainment trends.
Think of gacha games and LOL Surprise dolls. There’s nothing inherently wrong with either of these two, but they both market themselves almost exclusively on the “it’s a surprise” gimmick, as opposed to past toys and video games that didn’t. They are, in a few short words, surprise for surprise’s sake. There is no guarantee of satisfaction when it comes to these objects—in fact, the rarity systems that many of them have practically guarantee that you will stay in the E-F slot unless you have a lot of luck or spend a lot of money. And make no mistake, these things are made to maximize profits—a giant LOL Surprise egg can set you back $205.00, and that’s just at Walmart.
So here we have a commodification of surprise taken to its logical extreme, where satisfaction is almost completely removed from the equation and disappointment is basically inevitable. Why does that sound so familiar?
Because a lot of places where we hear about twists ruining the plot are multibillion dollar franchises—Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Marvel, and so on. Now, I can’t say that any of these lack artistic merit—in fact, many of these are known for great scores, cinematography, costumes, and the like. Their writing is intensely flawed, but we still get bright spots from them where everything seems to come together. But at the end of the day, they seem to be built with the same principle as a gacha game.
Didn’t get the character you wanted? Spend more in-game currency until you do! Didn’t like that plot twist from the last movie? Check out the next one to see if it gets better! And on and on and on.
These plot twists aren’t inserted for artistic merit, at least, not most of the time. Mostly, they’re for the money, the social media buzz, the equivalent of seeing how many views the next great unboxing video can grab. Not to say that no lesser-known authors have ever relied on shock value, but as a whole, something about their twists often feels more genuine, because they understand that the world is not their unboxing video. It’s a home video of their son, daughter, sister, brother opening the gift they’ve spent months or even years waiting to give them.
Surprise, as an emotion, requires thought not just about your fans, but about your stories, too. It requires knowledge and passion about both, and a drive to make a twist make so much sense that if your fans don’t love it right away, they’re sure going to love it by the end.
Because at the end of their day, gifts and surprises are meant to touch someone’s heart, not the algorithm of things a website assembles for you. And the best gift-givers are the ones who find things that people’s hearts need, whether the receiver recognizes it or not.

S5 Prediction: Will & MIKE'S 7 Confession (letter) + Garage Light Kiss Theory (Alternate/Revised Theory!)
OH. MY. GOD. GUYS! I think I just figured it out for real this time. I connected the two dots before...but i missed the third and final dot. BUCKLE UP B*TCHES.
We all know about my "full-circle garage light flicker theory" where Mike and Will can affect s1 ep1 through the upside-down in s5, and when they kiss the garage light flickers in season 1. Well, in my old theory I said "Will parallels his younger self and says the truth", but NOW I THINK IT'S ACTUALLY GOING TO BE MIKE.
This comes down to the letter. I used to think Mike's letter would just be a case of dramatic irony, to inform the audience of Mike's true feelings. I thought maybe the letter was about Mike rebuilding castle Byers after s3 (which i still think he did btw). But I just read this post from doriandrifting (READ IT), and now I think he wrote the letter about the D&D campaign. Like an IDIOT, I forgot about the date in the tweet! And then I really thought about it and...this changes EVERYTHING. Prepare yourselves. (it's 4:00 AM rn but I DON'T CARE) i'm gonna copy and paste the beginning of my old theory, sorry. you can skip ahead to “it’s parallel time” :)
Tumblr media
To start off, I think that Mike and Will are going to end up in the upside-down together in S5. The upside down and Will are connected narratively, seeing as it’s literally frozen on the night he went missing.
Obviously there is going to be a reason for that. To bring his story full-circle, it’s pretty much inevitable that in the final season, Will is going to end up back in the upside-down. Just like it’s inevitable that this time Mike will be there with him. Which is why at the end of season 4, they both sit on an upside down couch together.
Tumblr media
The next part of this theory has to do with Will having powers. It’s why Will is paralleled to Vecna, Eleven, and Bastian from NeverEnding Story, and could open a portal in s1. It also fits with his overall character arc (becoming a hero after being a victim). I won’t make this post a mile long by going through all the evidence (links to some proof here, here , here and here and in the long version of my theory.) But for now, trust me when I say it’s probably going to be revealed that Will can manipulate electricity/time/the upside-down in S5.
Remember, El was originally supposed to die after season one, which makes the notion of Will having powers extremely likely.
Tumblr media
Okay? Okay. So here’s the theory:
Mike and Will are in the upside-down, which is stuck on the day Will went missing in 1983. While in the upside-down, Mike and Will end up at the Wheeler House.
Tumblr media
Time is frozen on Nov 6, which is the first episode of season 1. I think that somehow, Mike and Will are going to be able to affect the other side in season 1 (specifically Nov 6), through the upside-down in season 5.
How though? We know that (as of now) time still flows normally on the other side, unlike the upside-down. However, that could change. Like, what if time were to start moving again in the upside-down? This could happen because of Will's subconscious mind. It’s also safe to say that s5 will include some wacky time shenanigans, which could explain how this is possible. (s5 time-travel proof here, here, here, and here) But even just on the surface level, why the hell else would the show’s villain thematically be obsessed with the progression of time, be accompanied by the sound of a clock chime, and create visions of grandfather clock? Why else would Hopper’s s3 letter talk about “turning back the clock”? Why else would there be so many Back to The Future references? Why else would the Duffers talk so much about "going back to season one", or the story coming "full-circle" in season five?
Tumblr media
There are multiple electricity shortages in s1. What if some of these moments, like when Ted fiddles with the TV in the background of season 1, were actually caused by Will (or El) in season 5? The screen looks suspiciously like how the TV screen looked when Eleven mind jumped in s2 and s3. Now for the good part:
IT’S PARALLEL TIME!
In the upside-down, Mike and Will are going to stand in the same spot at the same time as their younger selves on the other side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The concept of Lies is a HUGE recurring theme and motif in Stranger Things. One of the very first bits of characterization we learn about Will, is that he doesn’t lie to Mike. Even though it was just a white lie and Even though he could have got away with it. Even though it meant he lost, “Friends don’t LIE.” Will waited until the other boys left before telling Mike the Truth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think that Mike is going to mirror Will, and confess the truth to him. From the very start, we are shown that Mike and Will have an honest and different bond than rest of the party. Which is why in season five, MIKE is going to remember this, and be able to lie.
(I, I can remember (I remember) Standing, by the wall (by the wall)- Bowie
Season 5 MIKE is going to parallel season 1 WILL, and THEY ARE BOTH going to admit the TRUTH to each-other at the same exact time (across time)! (7+7=14) winning roll!
Season 5, UPSIDE-DOWN:
for example:
Mike: “you lied about the painting being from El”
(the TRUTH about why Will made THE PAINTING for Mike is addressed--LOVE!)
Will: "You’re being stupid! It's not my fault you couldn't say you love her!"
WILL parallels MIKE during the SEASON THREE GARAGE SCENE:
Tumblr media
Mike: "It is" (TRUTH)
MIKE parallels WILL during the SEASON ONE GARAGE SCENE:
Tumblr media
Mike gives Will his letter (The TRUTH about why Mike made the 10 hour D&D CAMPAIGN is addressed--LOVE!)
(TRUTH=7) An UPSIDE-DOWN 7 is a capital L. The song which plays when Mike and Eleven kiss at the end of s3 (when Mike realizes he's gay) is "The First I love You". The "L" is NOT capitalized, because it’s not the TRUTH. In his letter, the "L" IS capitalized!
so at the same time (across time)...
MIKE: TRUTH=7, WILL: TRUTH=7 (7+7=14, the winning roll in D&D!)
THE THIRD AND FINAL GARAGE SCENE: (writing comes in 3's)
THEY KISS
Tumblr media
Between them, metaphorical electricity  FLARES (and potentially Will’s literal powers), as his brain short-circuits. As they kiss, “Heroes” by David Bowie plays, and the lyrics “the guns, shot above our heads, (over our heads)” narrates as electricity shoots above their heads. (Either bc of the kiss or confession) The camera pans up to the garage light over their heads, which flickers.
Tumblr media
the audience can feel the electricity between Mike and Will. Just like how Dustin could feel the electricity between Lucas and Max.
Tumblr media
"i could feel it." "What?" "The electricity." (are “friends” electric?)
at the same time...
Season 1, OTHER SIDE:
Will: "It was a 7, the demogorgan, it got me.” (TRUTH=7)
Will sounded disappointed about losing, but Mike DOESN'T SAY ANYTHING. He doesn't say how he "really feels". He just stands there and watches Will leave. Mike notices the garage light flicker above him. This is a metaphor for the electricity which just passed between them. Love=Electricity, and Mike just noticed it, which is why the scene directly following this one is him going inside to write a letter of what he wanted to say, which he signs "-Love, Mike."
Tumblr media
This would act as dramatic irony because at the same exact time in the upside-down, Mike JUST SAID what he really wanted to say in this moment BY GIVING WILL HIS LETTER and/or confessing. Unbeknownst to him, his future self just confessed, and the flicker is actually when they kiss in the upside down.
This reveal would be meaningful, because Mike wrote the ten hour DnD campaign but doesn't give Will the letter saying why (Love), and Will makes the painting but he lies about why (Love). In the upside-down, the TRUTH about both of these gestures is revealed.
In this moment, Mike's future self says what HE was too ashamed too in season one. Mike never got the chance to give Will his letter before the "demogorgan" got him.
"Anyway, I think you’ll still beat the campaign. Sorry I couldn’t get it done before my mom made everyone leave, but you mean so much to me, and it’s been so much fun to make it for you. Hope this is enough motivation to last until we can finish it next weekend. -Love, Mike"
THE UPSIDE-DOWN, SEASON 5:
As they kiss, “Heroes” by David Bowie continues...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in season one, Mike is still ashamed of his love for Will. Which is why the scene cuts off with the line “shame”.
This time when the song plays, it will be different though. This time, the full verse will play as they kiss.
“and we kiss as though nothing could fall and the shame… was on the OTHER SIDE.”
Mike and Will are in the upside-down, and at the same time their ashamed younger selves were literally on the other side. When they finally kiss as if nothing could fall, they leave their shame on the other side (in the the past).
Or alternatively
Mike and Will are alone together in the upside-down, and the rest of society is on the other side. Because of this, they are able to finally kiss as if nothing could fall, and forget about how they would be shamed for it on the other side.
(based on the rest of the lyrics, they probably think they are going to die when this happens btw)

So. Madison Russell. Godzilla vs Kong. Welcome to my ted talk.
From a writing perspective, they totally wasted her character. She, Josh, and Bernie were almost exclusively used just as a method of showing the audience what was happening "behind the scenes" at Apex. Pouring the whiskey on the computer was about the only thing of note they did, and even that didn't do much. Mechagodzilla was only slightly hindered by it, and if they'd just written Kong and Godzilla differently in the fight scene, they could have skipped the whiskey part entirely. They could have done so much with having people "on the inside" but Monarch as a greater organization barely had any presence at all, which negated the need to have people on the inside.
Maddie's steadfast insistence that Godzilla wasn't a bad guy at the beginning had so much potential, but it became the conspiracy thing instead. It felt less like she wanted to prove Godzilla wasn't turning against humans, and more like she and her new conspiracy friend wanted to crack open a shady organization, which was frustrating. If they wanted to depict her as someone who was forced to become competent at a young age, which was part of the serious, intense vibe I got from her, instead of the inexplicable personality shift, they should have showed her doing something to help. Getting in contact with her dad/Monarch, giving them evidence to begin a city wide evacuation outside the Apex Hong Kong HQ, messing something up or making it harder for the Apex people to get Mechagodzilla up and running—just, anything.
The fact is, we had Maddie being very proactive in KotM. Stealing the ORCA was the game changer. Instead of taking that to the next level in GvK and giving her an opportunity to continue that aspect of her character—that is, being someone who refuses to sit by when she can do something to help, even if it’s dangerous—they rendered her obsolete.
The movie wouldn't have significantly changed if you took her character out. If Bernie went by himself and ended up in Hong Kong, nothing would have changed, because Maddie didn't do anything of personal importance. She went from being an active character in KotM to being a passive one here, which are a pet peeve of mine. If you saw my post about what I liked and didn’t like about Godzilla (2014), that might sound very familiar.
It would also have made so much more sense if she developed a love for studying Titans instead of focusing on conspiracy theories. Plot-wise, it would have given her claim to her dad that Godzilla was being provoked more credence, and could’ve opened an interesting dialogue between them to reinforce that she knows what she’s talking about. Monarch was obviously still a big part of their lives, given that Mark had rejoined, so it would’ve been the perfect opportunity for Maddie to pursue a Titan-related future.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I loved Jia, and wouldn’t want to take her out of the movie or even diminish her presence in it. In fact, I think they should have focused on Jia, and only on Jia.
Hear me out: Godzilla vs Kong should’ve been split in two. A Part 1 and Part 2 situation.
For Part 1, we keep a lot of the GvK canon, especially the Kong-centric stuff. Include even more scenes showing us that he’s protective of Jia, don’t just have Dr. Andrews say that he is. Have him defend her from something dangerous, maybe even from some humans. Include their backstory, how he saved her during the storm. And start it even earlier, before Godzilla attacks Apex the first time. Keep the whole Hollow Earth plot, keep the fight scene in the ocean, keep the discovery of the temple and the axe.
And on the Godzilla side of things, start earlier on that as well. Keep the other Titans in, have humanity tentatively believing that a time of great peace is upon them. Their mere presence is restoring the planet. There was an emphasis of nature, particularly in relation to the Titans, in KotM that I really think they should have included more of in GvK to better tie the two movies together, if only they hadn’t swept all the other Titans under the rug. They wanted a movie about a fight, not about the Titans. So, undo that. Show us a little of what Mark does, do a sweep of the other KotM cast (cameos at the very least) to show how they and Monarch are working to uphold that peace post-Boston. I’d also have loved to see Boston itself, too, five years later.
Instead of giving us a Generic High School scene, show Maddie learning about the Titans alongside the experts. Bring back the wonder and amazement she had when she saw Mothra for the first time, when she reached out and touched her. She’s second generation Monarch, make that mean something. When Maddie took the ORCA to Boston, she had a conviction. She couldn’t not have. She was there in part to lure Ghidorah in, but I can’t even pretend to believe her plan ended with that. She knew Godzilla would come.
That sort of belief is hard to kill, and if death via Ghidorah wasn’t enough to scare her off, no way anything else in those five years afterwards did. Her belief that Godzilla is good survived to GvK, and should’ve been a main focal point of her character. Godzilla attacks Apex—she and every other Monarch person who has spent years studying the Titans knows something is up.
Keep Mark’s character development regarding his opinions on Godzilla. He believes Maddie when she says something has to be wrong, not just because he trusts his daughter, but because he looked into Godzilla’s eyes and saw more than just an animal.
They’re in Part 1 only minimally, just to establish their presence and how they feel about Godzilla destroying Apex. The focus is clearly on Jia and Kong’s side of events.
Sorry, but I’m leaving Josh out and seriously dialing back Bernie’s role. Instead, the character we follow inside Apex is Ren Serizawa. We see his motivations, his ambitions, and he becomes a character with more than just a few lines. Does he resent Godzilla? Or does he resent his father, too? Serizawa’s sacrifice was willing, after all. He was no accidental casualty.
Part 1 ends in the Hollow Earth, with Ghidorah taking control of Mechagodzilla on the surface. Alter the timeline just enough so that Godzilla has only just arrived to Hong Kong, and Kong’s still in the Hollow Earth. The final scene is Mechagodzilla emerging into the city as the sun rises. The post-credits scene is our KotM cast in the Argo, location unknown, watching a screen with Mechagodzilla on it.
Part 2 begins with a reveal: Ren Serizawa isn’t dead.
Backtrack. This part focuses more on the Godzilla side, and Monarch. It’ll have flashback scenes from the five years between KotM and now, showing exactly why Monarch as a whole firmly believes Godzilla is reacting to something instead of being anti-human all of a sudden. The Titans are not inherently malicious; destruction is a side effect of their size, no more, no less. He earned his title of King in KotM—make it mean more than just trying to make Kong “bow.” Make him a protector, a guardian. He’s nature’s balance. By definition, he must protect humans as well.
What Monarch needs to figure out is this: what is he trying to protect them from?
They investigate Apex in search of the answer, but knowing from past experience the sort of things Godzilla gets proactive about—the MUTOs, Ghidorah—Monarch mobilizes. They prepare for another fight, at Mark’s instructions. He witnessed both San Francisco and Boston firsthand, even if the former was from a civilian standpoint.
Godzilla has more hunt scenes. He targets a second Apex lab after his ocean fight with Kong, telling Monarch that they’re on the right track.
Maddie, being a minor and not dragged into the thick of things (yet), has to stay home. Remembering the podcast she sometimes listened to, when the topic was focused on the Titans, she tracks Bernie down, and he tells her about what he saw: the eye.
The two of them go to the ruined Apex building and discover the eye is gone before getting caught. With Monarch currently breathing down their necks, they recognize Maddie to be Mark’s daughter and take her to Hong Kong. Sorry, Bernie, but that’s mostly as far as you’re involved. Timeline-wise, this is roughly when Kong puts the axe in the temple floor and Godzilla blasts a hole to the center of the earth. Monarch is following Godzilla, but they’re behind a bit thanks to the tunnel shortcuts. They’re still unaware that Maddie has been kidnapped and is en route to Hong Kong.
This is also when Mechagodzilla gains a life of its own. Walter Simmons is killed and Ren Serizawa becomes trapped in the link to Mechagodzilla, serving as the bridge between the robot and Ghidorah’s mind. Ghidorah is essentially controlling MG by controlling Ren, who is controlling MG. Make sense? He’s the puppeteer’s puppeteer.
We reverse some things. Godzilla fights MG first, gets beat around but not as much as in GvK because he isn’t fresh out of a different fight. Kong returns to the surface through the tunnel Godzilla created, having carried the one remaining HEAV out himself, because Nathan Lind has never flown one before and doesn’t know how they work. Kong wants to protect Jia, and Ilene Andrews and Nathan Lind are very lucky that Jia likes them.
Mechagodzilla sees Kong and takes off, and Kong decides now would be a great time to fight Godzilla, who’s having a pretty bad day. Monarch arrives, and half of them split off to follow MG while the rest stay to try and deescalate the situation. Other than Godzilla faring slightly less well, the fight goes mostly the same as in the movie, except for one big difference: one of the Monarch crafts pick up Jia and Co, and she’s able to get Kong’s attention from the back of an Osprey well enough to tell him to stop fighting. There’s a bigger threat out there, and Godzilla definitely needs to be okay enough to fight it. Either they work together, or they reschedule.
She’s very stern about it, and though no one’s really sure what the two Titans decide on, they stop fighting. They leave together to go after Mechagodzilla, who is currently being slowed down by Mothra, because she deserves to be in this movie. The other Titans basically hinder Mechagodzilla as much as possible as it rampages, telling Godzilla where it is. Monarch finally figures out that it’s heading for the nearest entrance to the Hollow Earth, right around when they also figure out that Ghidorah is involved. With Dr. Andrews and Nathan Lind’s input, they theorize it intends to take more of the power source down there to further strengthen it.
They do their best to clear the cities in its path, evacuating as many people as possible. It’s all they can do. As in the past, they must trust Godzilla to do the heavy lifting. Around the same time, an assistant tells Mark that some guy named Bernie called and is asking for him. This is how he finds out Maddie was taken to Apex’s Hong Kong location.
Meanwhile, the Apex guards and Maddie finally arrive to find the facility abandoned and damaged, MG gone, and Simmons dead. The guards more or less split, leaving her there alone. Maddie, being Maddie, goes deeper until she finally discovers Ghidorah’s skull and Ren Serizawa inside, trapped in his own head with Ghidorah. It’s killing him.
He’s aware enough to have a conversation with her. They argue about the Titans. He wants Godzilla destroyed out of anger over his father’s preference for Titans, rather than his own son.
(“You’re not the only one with ghosts!” she yells at him. “You’re not the only one who resents a parent for putting Titans ahead of you when you needed them!” He chokes out, “I do not resent my father—” “Coulda fooled me. Why else would you be spitting on his sacrifice like this? Who are you trying to help, huh? All the other kids out there who are losing their moms and dads because you let Ghidorah out? Sorry, mister, but the last time someone did that, your dad paid the price.”)
Ren is getting worse. He’s going to die if he stays in the link much longer, but he can’t disconnect. Maddie, looking around, gets to work on something. The camera slowly pans around to show that there’s a second pilot seat, back-to-back with Ren’s. It would allow for seamless switching between pilots without MG ever not having someone at the controls.
Even with the other Titans’ help, Godzilla and Kong are unable to stop MG from going through the tunnel and into the Hollow Earth. Monarch is unable to follow, because of the gravity issue. They’re both tired from the journey and their fight, especially Godzilla. This is their last chance. If Mechagodzilla reaches the power source, it’s all over.
The fight doesn’t go in their favor. They’re both bad at working together, so their attacks are uncoordinated at best, actively hindering each other at worst. Kong gets flung off a mountain and MG pins Godzilla. Even thought he caught himself, Kong isn’t going to make it up in time to help him.
Maddie puts on an identical pilot setup, and with Ren’s instructions, switches the link over to herself, freeing Ren. He collapses forward, immediately falling unconscious from the release of the strain. Fighting past the pain and overwhelming presence suddenly in her head, Maddie does what she does best: she causes Ghidorah problems.
She screams, and it echoes like a roar through his skull.
In the Hollow Earth, Mechagodzilla stumbles.
It’s the beginning of the end. She can’t control it or even really stop Ghidorah, but she gets in his way as much as possible, giving Godzilla and Kong the edge they need to finally get their act together and use some teamwork to take Mechagodzilla down. They destroy it and return to the surface before parting on amicable terms.
After too long, Mark arrives at Apex with a whole team of people. Ren Serizawa is found comatose but alive, and he’s quickly removed for medical attention. Though Maddie’s also alive, there’s something else clearly wrong. She’s still wired into the piloting gear, stiff and unseeing, as if she’s frozen. Her eyes are open but distant, pupils virtually gone from how constricted they are, and her jaw hangs open slightly. Despite how tense her body is, she’s limp. Nothing they do wakes her up, even after getting her out of the skull.
They wheel her out on a gurney to where a handful of Ospreys landed, but as they leave the building and step out onto the roof, they find Godzilla has returned. He watches them, and he’s exactly as aware as Mark remembers.
(“She tried to help you,” Mark calls out to him. No one knows exactly what happened in the Hollow Earth, during the fight, but the scene in Ghidorah’s skull was telling. “No, she—she did help you!” For the second time in her life, Maddie put herself in Ghidorah’s path and, ultimately, won. Only this time, her victory came with a price.)
Godzilla snorts before leaning over the roof’s railing, moving toward the gurney. The humans all back away, even Mark, though he doesn’t go far. Spines humming, eyes flaring blue, Godzilla rumbles deeply.
On the gurney, Maddie stirs.
Later, much later, after Maddie and Jia have met—heaven help everyone else, honestly—they sit together on the edge of a pier over the ocean, Jia leaning comfortably against Maddie. It’s quiet. They’re alone, watching the sunset. A heavy footfall behind them, the feel of the vibration trembling through the wood, makes them turn around. Half concealed in the brush at the edge of the island’s foliage, Kong stands, facing them.
They both wave before standing. They sign goodbye to each other, then part ways. As Maddie walks away to a waiting Osprey, we see behind her as Kong crouches to allow Jia to climb into his palm before vanishing into the forest.
The Osprey takes off over the calm ocean. It has a different design than most, with a large door set in the side instead of at the back, more like an ordinary helicopter. It’s open as they go, Maddie secure inside as she stares out. A smile spreads across her face as jagged spines slowly breach the ocean’s surface, easily keeping pace with the Osprey, which lowers to be closer to the water.
For just a moment, in the fading light, Maddie’s eyes almost shine blue. The screen goes black to the sound of Godzilla’s roar.

Things in AtLA that I wish had gotten resolved/addressed better
So we all know AtLA is the Greatest Cartoon Show Of All Time (TM) but I always felt like there were several loose ends that would’ve REALLY benefited from a Book 4: Air, and I wanted to rant about them for a second, so here they are:
1) Azula’s mental health and (possible) redemption: I really wish we had gotten to see Azula come out of the pit she dug herself into. Because of the evil acts we see her commit, we often forget that Azula was just a 14 YEAR OLD GIRL, who had spent all of her life trying to live up to the expectations of her abusive father and who was betrayed by literally everyone close to her in the end. Of course there still should’ve been consequences to her actions, but I don’t believe she was an irredeemable hopeless case. I feel like this line:
Tumblr media
was REALLY telling as to why she did what she did. I often wonder if maybe she’d started out just doing her best to act in a way where she would NOT be punished or hated like she’d SEEN her brother be, and then it just became so ingrained into her that it changed her. Especially since her mother and uncle, the only other adult presences in her life, kept themselves mostly removed from her and ultimately failed her (I understand that Ursa was probably trying her best to help the child she believed was most in danger from Ozai, but if your 9 YEAR OLD daughter comes out of your relationship believing “my own mother thought I was a monster” then you’ve failed as a parent. Sorry)
Aaron Ehasz said this about a year ago:
Tumblr media
and honestly I would have LOVED THAT. “At the deepest moment in her own abyss she would have found: Zuko”. Like, what?!?! Zuko getting to be Azula’s Iroh, to help her crawl of the dark place she was in through compassion and kindness?? YES PLEASE!!! Also, imagine what Azula could’ve been if she’d ever decided to use her razor-sharp intellect for Good? This girl conquered Ba Sing Se with only 2 people on her side initially, little to no bloodshed, and no civilian casualties! She could’ve accomplished SO MUCH as Zuko’s advisor/right hand woman or something!
2) Aang dealing with his grief regarding the Air Nomad Genocide: truth be told, we never see Aang truly take the time to cry and mourn over the loss of literally everyone he ever knew and loved aside from those brief moments during the Southern Air Temple and The Guru, and even then he never got to dwell on it for long because the world needed him and he had to focus on that.
Tumblr media
I’m quite sad that he never got to have that catharsis, to truly come to terms with his feelings on the matter (besides seemingly focusing all his love on Katara, as we’re told during The Guru). He should have gotten the chance to rebuild his home and find his new place in the world in the appropriately-named Book 4: Air. For example, I’ve seen theories that Ty Lee was a descendant of the remaining Air Nomads, and it would’ve been so great for it to be true and for Aang to go around the world searching for others like her and teaching them Air Nomad philosophy. Also wish we could’ve seen Aang finding and protecting the last Sky Bisons, collecting Air Nomad scriptures with Zuko’s help and spreading them across the world, or restoring the Air Temples to their former glory (maybe Teo and the Mechanist could’ve helped in that endeavor to make up for wrecking the Northern Air Temple. I never liked that at the end of that episode we’re told to think Aang was in the wrong, when literally the last remaining vestiges of his culture had been changed and almost destroyed and he had every right to be angry about it).
3) Toph’s Life Changing Field Trip with Zuko: I really dislike Zuko dismissing Toph’s talk about her parents during The Phoenix King. I feel like it’s quite a bit out of character, since he would of course be able to understand better than anyone in the Gaang how being forced to change yourself to fit in with your rich&powerful parents’ expectations of you feels. You’re telling me that the guy who immediately empathized with Katara when she mentions how the Fire Nation took her mother from her in the Crystal Catacombs (while they were still “enemies” might I add), who encouraged Aang when he felt uneasy about his firebending, who stuck with Sokka when he was feeling down about his plans failing and inspired him to keep trying, who helped Katara find closure on her mother’s death and praised her sacrifice saying “[she] was a brave woman”, and who was comforted by Toph herself just a few days before when he was feeling down about Iroh, wouldn’t take a second to empathize with her? I don’t buy it.
Tumblr media
Also can you imagine the kind of shenanigans two badass rule breakers like them could’ve gotten into???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They could’ve saved or toppled a city in one night. It would’ve been EPIC. WE WERE ROBBED.
4) Aang and Katara’s relationship: just... so much about it. I’m not even going to get into how much I wish Zutara (or the beginnings of it) had been made canon, but if they were going to make Kataang canon I wish they had showed us MUCH MORE of the development of Katara’s feelings. I mean, on the Ember Island Players we leave them with Aang having screwed up by disregarding her boundaries and forcing a kiss (and then never apologizing for it smh),
Tumblr media
and then we get NOTHING until somehow during the very last 10min of the series she all of a sudden reciprocates his feelings in full???? Without anything getting resolved????
Tumblr media
Like what?!?! How did she go from A to B???? At least show me how she debated the matter! Show me how she talked about it with someone, or mulled it over on her own! Show me what exactly she found that she loved ROMANTICALLY about Aang! Show me him apologizing for overstepping and her forgiving him! Show me Katara stop babying Aang gradually! Show me Katara having cute blushing moments like she does for her other crushes (namely Jet and Haru) SPRINKLED ALL THROUGHOUT THE STORY WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY INSTEAD OF ONLY ON 2-3 ISOLATED INSTANCES IN THE WHOLE SHOW, WHILE OTHERWISE SHE ACTS LIKE HIS MOM OR OLDER SISTER!!!! Arrrggh we should’ve gotten a Book 4 if only so we could end on that kiss on a balcony properly. They both deserved better than we got.
5) Katara’s role in the world Post-War: from what little I’ve heard of the comics, it seemed as if Katara was relegated to the role of “Aang’s girlfriend”, which was reinforced by what we saw in LoK where she mostly stays in the South Pole while all her other friends are helping save the world. She doesn’t even seem to have her own statue! I find this highly disrespectful of her character, since the Katara we know would’ve “never turned her back on people who need her” and would’ve fought tooth and nail to make the world a better place. She never would’ve been content as a stay-at-home wife. She ends up “in the healing huts” just like Pakku thought she should and that’s so sad😔 I wish we could’ve seen her become a political activist protesting for women’s right to learn combat waterbending at the North Pole, an environmentalist/ecoterrorist, a medical volunteer, an ambassador for Aang’s new Air Nation or for the Water Tribes, a warrior putting the Fear of God(TM) into anyone who tried to assassinate Zuko or Aang, or even all of the above. Katara is a BAMF with strong opinions and we should’ve seen her do something with them goddammit.

I’ve been trying to think of a question for you and I finally got one! I know you like the player theory for Bobby, but how do you think it could have been revealed if he was playing the game? And how would MC get to respond?
yet again i’ve put a lot of unnecessary thought in to this!! also this is soooo long i’m sorry
i see it going down in the same kind of way lottie and gary’s kiss was. i feel like bobby may have not been fully open about it in his confessionals/convos with other islanders bc he’s smart enough to know that it could get him eliminated especially where mc was pretty clearly fan favorite since she always does well in the public votes... but he definitely kind of let it slip. like the time he said he couldn’t donate his money to charity because there were “too many things he wanted.” or maybe when he got the call from his boys after mr love island they made a joke about how he’s one step closer to the down payment on his bakery and without really thinking about it he said something like “i know! that $50,000 is so close i can taste it” aka basically saying he had no intentions to split the money if he won, but it was a passing comment that i bet a lot of viewers didn’t think much of. but someone like shannon for example would’ve noticed. (so i’m gonna use her theoretically for the rest of this) i bet player bobby would’ve also made a point to ask his friends what everyone thinks of MC and them being together to know if she’s going to work for his plan and his boys tell him something like “yeah she’s fan favorite and everyone likes you together. she’s definitely the one to get you to the finish line.”
so shannon came in and like pulled MC to the side and was like “hey i need to tell you something that i’m not supposed to tell you, but it feels like the right thing to do.” and MC just sitting there like ...okay? and shannon is like “bobby’s in it for the money. he’s all but said it directly. he’s using you to get to the end because the public loves you and they love you two together. i know how much you like him so i feel like it’s right of me to let you know he’s not who you think he is.” and tells her everything she saw.
MC probably wouldn’t believe it at first. i mean... it’s bobby. her bobby. he would never do that to her. but then she thought about it... and she remembers other passing comments he made that kind of alluded to it. never anything major, but definitely concerning after being told he had alternative motives. she makes more and more connections as she goes through their time together.
after thinking on it a while, she finally pulls bobby and tells him they need to talk and they go up to the terrace. they sit in an awkward silcence for a minute before bobby’s like “is everything alright? you’re scaring me a bit.” but mc doesn’t answer and the silence continues for a little longer. finally, while looking down at her hands as she fiddles with the cushions, she asks him if he remembers the mean tweets challenge. he tells her of course he remembers it. she then asks if he remembers the tweet about him being a player and he says yes again. then there’s another moment of silence. eventually she looks up to him and she says “they didn’t mean a player that goes from girl to girl did they?” bobby looks at her confused and asks her what she means. she says “they meant like a player who’s here to play the game, a player who’s here to win, not to find love... a player here for the money?” and his face falls. he knows he’s been caught.
but i feel like that point would’ve been when player bobby’s mind would’ve been changed since it’s literally right after cursed casa aka when he says he realized he loved her. so he goes in to a full panic, asking her why she would say that. she tells him what shannon told her and he’s just like “mc, it’s not what it looks like. hear me out, please. i’m begging. i’m not here for the money anymore. i found you.” and mc is like “so it’s true then? you were here for the money? when our relationship started, you were in it for the money?” he didn’t know how to answer that so he didn’t. she laughs at him and says “so this was a all a lie then? you’ve spent the last two weeks making me look like a fool on national television when i’ve been giving you my all? do you understand that there isn’t s guy here who doesn’t want to be with me but it’s been you i’ve chosen every time? fuck, bobby! i turned down a fucking rich, handsome, motorcycle driving doctor for you! and you never even cared about me. i’m just the one who’s going to get you to the finish line, huh?” bobby winces at the sound of those familiar worlds, realizing she knows even more than he thought. “that’s not true. you know i care about you.” mc rolls her eyes, “do i know that tho? do i? because even if you do, how am i supposed to believe you when you tell me that? this whole fucking relationship is built on a lie. i’ve never been anything but open and honest with you. i let you see who i really am, the me no one else gets to see... and i suddenly find out that i don’t even know you, bobby. i know someone who was apparently playing pretend the whole time. we talked about our fucking grandchildren, bobby! you told me you saw yourself spending the rest of your life with me! and it was a LIE? you’re a real piece of work, you know that?” and bobby still doesn’t know what to say. he doesn’t have an excuse. there isn’t one. so he just says he’s sorry and mc laughs and says “oh fuck you, bobby.” and there’s another long moment of silence before mc breaks it again as she stands up, “if you’re smart, you’ll stay the fuck away from me for the rest of the summer. thanks for ruining this entire thing for me. i hope you get what you want, but i won’t be the one carrying you to the finish line. good luck.” and she disappears back in to the villa.
then i see lucas coming back as the returning islander and mc ending up with him. and it eats bobby alive. but this theoretical asshole bobby kinda deserves it tbh
thank you coming for yet another ted talk

!!!!! POSSIBLE SU FUTURE SPOILERS !!!!!!!!!
OKAY HEAR ME OUT.
I think I figured out what's gonna happen from now on. Since this last episode basically confirmed(?) Hinted at(?) The corrupted Steven theory (come on guys, you know it's coming) I had a sudden thought and now I need to share it with y'all.
So, it's been hinted at on a few occasions (I can't name them here exactly sorry) that Steven wants to become human (Through some interactions on the series and the new ending song, we get that feeling).
But we know he can't, right? Because, as we saw on Change your mind, he's a half gem. His human part NEEDS his Gem(his mom? His validation?) part to survive. Because in change your mind he is still young and struggling very hard to find out who he really is, so he NEEDS that part of him that still connects him to his mom (umbilical cord, anyone?) For him to feel validated.
Ok? Ok. Now to what I think will happen.
So in the next episodes, Steven will be spiralling more and more on his traumas. And he will refuse to open up to the gems. And it will get so bad that he'll start corrupting. It's gonna hurt, and he's gonna try to hide it, but we know he's turning into that wormy boy sooner or later.
So who will (finally) show up to the rescue?
Our beautiful Connie.
She will talk to him, show him how far he has come. So he finally understands that it's okay. He's been through so much, it's okay to need help. So after they try and help Steven, they find out they simply can not undo the corruption. The damage is done. So Steven will make a decision.
He will take his Gem out.
And now that he's ready to be his own person, a full human. He will be able to live, he will be whole in his human part. He's done everything and more for the gems, now's time he's free of his mom's burden and lives his own life.
So Steven will become human and leave beach city to find his place in the world. (Bonus is he has Connie and/or Greg with him!)
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Byler hints in the background of s1-3
Honestly, this should just be called- ‘my autistic brain casually (and without even trying) notices shit in the background, but never mentioned it- because I thought it sounded too crazy to talk about’ XD. But the symbolism and Easter eggs give my byler-shipping heart so much life. So I thought, since you guys prob. didn’t notice it- I’ll mention it anyways.  So here goes.
Drawings/rainbows
There has been a theme in s3 about how Mike equates ‘falling for girls’ as a part of growing up, and his feelings for Will as something childish that he has to has to grow out of.
- confessing to El : “A feeling … yeah, like, something… like OLD PEOPLE say it sometimes”.
- “And Will too. I was thinking we could all have new presents to play with and *scoffs* Sorry, that made me sound like a 7 year old... (apologizing to El)
- Mike getting in a fight with Will (after d&d), and saying they can’t be close anymore:
Mike says, “It’s not my fault you don’t like girls!”, and then he tries to ½ apologize only to say, “I’m not trying to be a jerk. Ok? But We’re not kids anymore.” Explaining, this is just the way things are-boys fall in love with girls, get girlfriends, and this is just a part of growing up (heteronormativity).  He tells Will “I mean, what did you think, really? That we were never gonna get girlfriends? We were just gonna sit in my basement all day and play games for the rest of our lives?” And poor Will who is probably more aware of his feelings just responds. “Yeah, I guess I did. I really did.” And of course Mike immediately apologizes for being an “ asshole”, after this.
But here’s the thing! Mike actually does wish he didn’t have to grow up and that he could play games with Will (without girlfriends) for the rest of their lives. His room, in s3, SCREAMS that he’s trying to grow up/act straight... but he can’t let go of his feelings for Will.
Tumblr media
He literally takes down his old childhood poster from s1-2 for a more mature/adult poster. But on the same wall (where the old poster used to be) he hasn’t removed a single d&d drawing Will has given him. He’s pretending that he’s grown out of d&d when Lucas is around- because he’s emulating how (the straight) Lucas acted, all season. But Mike has it BAD (and is seriously pinning) for Will! Like, I love Will but his art at 11 years old isn’t so great to justify it still be on Mike’s wall at age 14.  He’s just that whipped (and literally can’t part with a single drawing Will has ever given him) XD
Like... it’s cannon that Mike caresses Will’s drawings
Tumblr media
He’s that ‘ dumbass blinded by love’ who thinks anything Will’s draws is a perfect- masterpiece. Mike could literally see Will draw scribbles and think it’s amazing! Like in s2 he just guides his hands through the scribbles he drew on the wall- no joke! XD
However, what’s interesting though is the one other things he took down from his wall. In S1 Mike (before he even met El)  has a heart sign, with a red heart being propelled by a rainbow. Yet in s3 , the season where he’s ‘obsessing’ about El- it mysteriously disappears. However, in the first ep of s3 when Mike is making-out with El we see a emergence of the heart being propelled by a rainbow (in El’s room) as a drawing. Probably signifying Mike participating in compulsory-heterosexuality and that no matter how hard he tries- he’s not straight!
Tumblr media
So given the fact he can’t part with any of the pictures on the wall...you better believe Mike still has that giant binder filled with every drawing Will has given him . And he’s probably hidden it away , with the rainbow heart sign (because he knows it would look suspicious to have laying around).
Tumblr media
-Also, Mike literally has more rainbow symbolism than Will (and has had it through every season) XD
Tumblr media
-the s2 ref being the most on the nose) Forbidden fruit + rainbow = queer forbidden romance. And during the 80s, that rainbow-apple poster in the AV Club was suspected to be in reference to Alan Turning (the gay ‘father of computers’).
Animal easter eggs that relate to byler and the upside down/supernatural-plot .
tigers- Mike keeps a tiger poster (which was right next to that rainbow-heart sign) in his basement through s1-3. In s1 we see Will also has a tiger drawing, which is later put on the wall (like a poster) in s2.  Sara Hopper (like Will ) had her death faked by the government (and had a tiger plushie in s1)- and Kali probably had something to do with it since in the prequel novel ‘suspicious minds’ had Kali talk non stop about her fav animal , tigers.  Theory  here. But again, Jancy is also connected to tigers as a romantic symbol (just like byler).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sharks- The Duffer brothers themselves said they based the s1 demorgorgan off of sharks, which Nancy even references in s1. Mike and Will have shark iconography in their room/basement. Will has a jaws poster shown in s1-2, and Mike has shark toys visible in s2. The shark (and bear) symbolism hint at the fact that Will created the upside down/demorgorgans/mind-flayer using his powers- theory here.
Tumblr media
bears- Will since s1 has had bear symbolism around him. Bears symbolically represent  “wisdom” like ‘Will the wise’ and were associated with the demorgorgan/upside down in s1 and 2 as well . Max and Nancy compared demogorgans to bears- and Nancy and Jonathan used a bear-trap to capture a demorgorgan in s1 .
Tumblr media
But s3 made bears a romantic symbol- Mike was going to buy a golden teddy bear for El as a romantic gesture. The golden bear had a bowtie (it’s male). And the gray bear that Mike gives to her, was originally Will’s (as shown in s1 &2). This gray bear is coming right in between Mike and El (at the end of s3). They even kiss , while El presses the bear right in between them.  In conclusion these romantic bears represent Will. * I mean that whole awkward kiss (where Mike’s eyes are open and he doesn’t kiss back- happens in Will’s room, in front of Will’s open closet,  with Will’s bear smushed between them (pretty blatant foreshadowing).
Tumblr media
dinosaurs- This one is probably a stretch but we see this boy has tons of dinosaurs (at least 6). He starts to info-dump on El about how much he loves them. But, she has no interest. And if the wtf look didn’t make this obvious.
Tumblr media
She even gets up and walks away, ignoring his tangent about dinosaurs.
Tumblr media
She literally couldn’t care less about his interest in them.
Tumblr media
But in spite of this, we see Mike gave her Rory in s3 (since it’s in her bedroom). And in s2 we see him sadly look at Rory, with 2 other dinosaurs in frame. This, along with s1 implies he has a huge collection of various dinosaurs .But his collection is missing one of the most popular dinosaur species... the brachiosaurus (the long necked dinosaur).
Tumblr media
And right after this scene in s2 scene, we go to Will’s room. And he has a huge brachiosaurus! This boy couldn’t even afford a halloween costume and had to have his hand-made by his mom... but he could afford this huge -fancy dinosaur replica? I bet Mike bragged about his dinosaur collection to Will (like he did with El). But Will being a nerd, was actually impressed. So Mike actually gave him his best/fav toy in his collection- kind of like what he did with Rory.
Tumblr media
frogs- This is the most hilarious thing to me. I laughed for like 20 minutes on my rewatch. In s1 Will has a GIANT stuffed plushie of a frog next to his jaws poster and teddy bear. I’m dead! Will doesn’t even disagree with the “frog face“ insult.
Tumblr media
He’s just like ‘well, he’s my frog face’ . Time to snuggle with this frog that looks just like Mike . Will is so in love but also low key savage dragging Mike like that. I can only imagine Dustin and Lucas saying “nah, you don’t look like a frog”. And poor baby-Mike asking Will what he thinks, and Will not being able to lie, just saying “ Well... some people like frogs.”  XD
Tumblr media
We also see that in s2 the frog is missing but the Jaws-poster, coin jar, and the bear (we later see El holding in s3) remain .Probably to indicate this is when Will started to subconsciously suppress his feelings for Mike. Although @theclericwill pointed out -that , instead, Mike may have used the frog-plushie as a pillow... for his frog-face XD
Tumblr media
Throwing shade at Mileven/mileven shippers in s2
In the Montauk pitch (later named Stranger things) they describe the Mike and El dynamic by saying “ If Mike is the Eliot of our show,Eleven is our Et.” (AKA they’re from different planets)
-In s2 , Erica  is forcing He-man and barbie to make out. Lucas angrily separates the two. And then this discussion happens.
Erica: “Hey , They’re in love!”
Lucas (livid- and standing right next to a rainbow): “No, actually,  they’re not. They don’t even exist on the same planet.”
Tumblr media
Not to mention I doubt it was a coincident they had a (bratty) pre-pubescent girl be the proxy for most mileven shippers.Like not all mileven shippers are bad, but almost all the toxic ones (that the Duffers have to deal with) are tween girls. And to the Duffers, only a child could think 2 people are ‘in love’ after a week of knowing each other. Or that El could understand such things like romance- given the fact that her and Mike are from different planets (given how El has no experience with the outside world).Mike even says in s2,  he can’t hate Max because he ‘doesn’t know’ her (despite knowing her as long as he knew El). Meaning he doesn’t love El since he doesn’t know her.
Plus, El told Mike, he treats her like ‘garbage’ and ‘a pet’ . And Finn after s1, said that the Duffers told him Mike thought of El as a puppy, and she is even compared to Dart (a demo-dog in s2). Mike asking Dustin, angrily “What, You have a bond? Just cause he likes nougat (eggos)?” Being a  blatant dig at people obsessing over this shallow aspect of their relationship.
Mileven was also compared to that  of family members. In s1, right before they kissed, she asks “will you be like my brother?” (while wearing Nancy’s dress). And Mike also referred to her as his ‘cousin’ . Not to mention, El loved ted’s laz-eboy chair (and Nancy said Karen and Ted “never loved each other” ). And right before Karen is about to cheat on Ted - she looks at him sleeping in the chair (and the lyrics are ‘I should have walked away’).
It’s pretty hilarious, since so many people try to ‘no-homo’ byler by saying Mike thinks of Will as a brother/or family- yet, their relationship has never been directly compared to a sibling (unlike mileven).
People also seem to not realize Mike lied in s2 (just like he did in s3). He thought El was dead in s2. He told Max it “got her like it did bob” and then he made a spectacle in front of everyone saying “I never gave up on you”. Which was a blatant lie (since he just told Max a few minutes earlier, she was dead -_-). Mike simply blamed himself for her death (he said they needed her to save Will and even referred to her as a “weapon”). So when she died he felt the most responsible- and was hoping she was alive (and would answer his call) to alleviate his own guilt. Not because he loved her (that was an act). When he saw Will’s dead body, but heard his voice, he went on a rescue mission to save Will (from another dimension). But, Mike didn’t even bother going into the woods after seeing El outside his window (something he did for Will in ep 1, during a storm). And then in s3 Mike couldn’t even bother to call El and apologize- but ran to apologize to Will in the woods during a storm (bringing that whole parallel -full circle).
Just cause he likes nougat (eggos)?” A blatant dig at people obsessing over this shallow aspect of their relationship.
Bob and Mike parallels- the Rubik cube
Both are unathletic, smart, love comics, the only 2 to not treat Will ‘different’- and would do anything to protect their loved ones. And they also had crushes on Byers in childhood, and tried to give their Byers normalcy (despite them not being a ‘normal family’). They purposely display, and have Will -mirror Joyce- and Mike -mirror Bob- in multiple shots, throughout s2.

And both Mike and Bob are AV club leaders. Bob mentioned in one of the  earlier episodes  that he founded the Hawkins Middle AV club . And Mike later grabs Bob’s Rubik cube, and mentions this after his death (to solidify the connection- even if subconscious in our minds. He even proclaims after this “we can’t let him die in vain” . And this is when Mike makes the plan to help Will (before El shows up).

In order to figure out how Ted really died—it definitely wasn’t suicide—you needed to go to the morgue and inspect the body. It was easy to get down there, and while you were there, you kept a look out while the brothers inspected the body. If you were correct, then there should be some kind of physical cause for his death besides the ligature marks on his neck. Dean took Ted’s lower half of the body to see if there was something noticeable that would explain what was going on. Sam began feeling his head until he felt wo puncture wounds behind Ted’s ears.
“Hey, I think I found something.”
“What is it?” you asked.
“Right here,” he said, grabbing a Q-tip from a table and sticking it into the hole. It came out of the other side which meant there wasn’t anything in his head—not even a brain. “This hole goes all the way through to his brain.”
“What does that mean?” Dean asked.
“Let's find out,” Sam grinned, eyeing a bone saw.
“Seriously?”
“If my theory is correct, there might not be a brain in there which means the monster we’re hunting eats it through the hole in the back of the ears that he puncture,” you observed.
Dean took a step back and let his brother cut into the man’s skull to see if your theory was correct or not. Dean didn’t want to see this so he exited the morgue and stood right outside while you joined Sam’s side to see what he was doing. Once he cut into the skull, he removed the top of it off. Instead of a brain inside, it was a small, hard, black rock like thing.
“Well, that’s not supposed to happen,” you commented.
“Guys,” Dean rushed back inside the morgue urgently.
“Look, his brain's been sucked dry,” you commented as Sam held up the item.
“That's fascinating. Somebody's coming,” he whispered.
Both you and the brothers rushed to put everything back where it was before the person entered the place. As soon as the last piece was placed, the door opened and the really happy nurse—her name badge only said Foreman—walked in.
“What are you three doing in here?” she asked.
Each of you looked at one another, unable to think of a good enough reason to be in here. Dean did the first thing he could think of and pulled down his pants, exposing everything to everyone.
“Pudding!” he yelled, raising his hands in the air.
Both you and Sam stared at him like he was crazy, but Nurse Foreman only smiled.
“Alright, come on, you three,” she chuckled.
Dean pulled his pants back up and heads for the door. He turned back to you two with a wink.
“Crazy works,” he whispered.
Shaking off that feeling, you followed Dean out the door, but not before you made strange eye contact with the nurse. It was like she knew who you were or something. Now that you knew what was happening, you needed to tell Martin about this since he might know more about it.
Tumblr media
“Are those original Gacy's?” Dean chuckled, looking at the wall covered in clown paintings.
“I painted those,” Martin frowned.
“Back on point, please,” Sam interrupted. “Um, so, whatever this thing is, it Slurpees your brain and sucks you dry.”
“Then it makes the deaths look like suicides. Any ideas?” you asked.
“Yeah, a bad one,” the ex-hunter sighed. He led you to one of his tables before bringing out his journal that he kept with him most days. He opened it up to a specific page and showed you the drawing he did.
“What is it?” you asked.
“Well, I bet you a chicken dinner it's what we're up against—a wraith. They crack open skulls and feed on brain juice.”
“You ever tangle with one before?”
“Never. Never wanted to, neither.”
“So, how do we kill it?” Dean asked.
“Silver. You so much as touch a wraith with the stuff, and the skin will crackle. Now, that's the good news. The bad news is they can pass as humans,” he motioned to everyone in the room. “It could be any Peter, Paul and Mary in the joint.”
“So how do we find it?” you wondered.
“A mirror. Lore says a wraith will show its true form in a mirror.”
“Okay, well, we just gotta spot check every patient and every staff member,” Dean shrugged.
“Okay. Yeah. But, I mean, what's it doing in a mental hospital?” Sam asked.
“Come on, it’s a perfect setting. Who’s going to believe a patient when they say they saw a. monster? It's the perfect hunting ground,” you explained.
“Okay, then we need to station ourselves near mirrors and just observe for the time being,” Sam said, taking the lead on this one.
By the end of it all, you were stationed near the entrance where people come and go, Dean was stationed next to the nurses’ station, and Sam and Martin were somewhere else that was out of sight. As you watched people through the mirror, you noticed Dean talking to someone even though there was no one there. It was strange to see this kind of behavior, especially when you thought you saw it when you two were playing checkers. It was really weird, and you didn’t know if you should go over there and talk to him about that or stick to your assignment.
As you watched everyone else, you noticed Dean stand up a bit straighter when Dr. Fuller approached him from the right side. His eyes went a bit wide as he passed by, and he made eye contact with you. He pointed to him, and you knew that you had the monster. Leaving your spot, you joined your boyfriend’s side.
“You think it’s Dr. Fuller?” you asked.
“I saw him through the mirror, Y/N. It’s him.”
“Who were you talking to earlier?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean who were you talking to? There wasn’t anyone by your side.”
“Dr. Cartwright. She’s assigned to my case. Come on, we need to go find Sam,” he urged, leaving your side.
“No, she isn’t,” you frowned, following him from behind.
There was no one here by that name so you wondered why he was saying these things. It didn’t take long to find and locate Sam and Martin, and it took even less for Sam to raid the nurses’ station to get four silver letter openers.
“Alright, I had to raid three nurses' stations to get these,” he handed them off. “They're only silver-plated, but they should work.”
“Thanks—”
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Wendy, the girl who kissed you before, march straight to the group.
“No, Wendy, not again—” She walked right past you and shoved Dean against the wall and kissed him.
It was a long kiss, but she pulled away eventually. Everyone was shocked at this, so Sam didn’t know what to do when she did the same exact thing to him.
“I want them now,” she said to you. “I like men now. They’re… larger.”
“Hm,” Dean shrugged at his brother when the woman walked away. “You’ve had worse.”
“Fuller is on call tonight, so we'll have to hit him after lights out,” Sam changed the subject. “All three of us.”
“What? No,” Martin shook his head.
“Martin, we gotta get past security, past the orderlies, and then cut the boss-man's throat, okay? It's gonna suck start to finish, but we could use the backup.”
“Oh, I can't. I can't,” he shakes his head and begins to walk away.
“We know what happened in Albuquerque,” you blurted out.
“You don't know the half of it,” he stops and turns. “God, I used to be just like you three. I used to think I was invincible, and then... well, I found out I'm not.”
“Martin, you're still a hunter.”
“No. I'm not. I'm useless. Why do you think I checked myself into the Hotel California? I'd give anything to help you three, I would. But, I-I can't. I'm sorry. I can't,” he sighed and walked away from the group.
“It’s just us three, so come on,” you said, leading the group to Fuller’s office which was empty.
After searching it, you noticed his car keys was still here which meant he was still in the building.
“He's still in the building. Sam takes the west wing, Dean the east, and I'll take the north.”
“Okay,” Sam nodded.
After exiting the office, you three took your separate ways. Since the entrance to the north wing was closer to the east than the west, you went with Dean.
“I have a weird feeling with this one,” you expressed.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean I didn’t get any weird vibes from him when we met him. The only person whose given me the monster vibes is Nurse Foreman, the really happy nurse.”
“I know what I saw, Y/N. Dr. Fuller is the wraith.”
“I don’t think so,” you whispered.
Approaching the entrance to the north wing, you were about to separate when you heard Sam’s screams come from all the way across the hospital. Both you and Dean booked it out of there to get to Sam. When you did, you noticed him struggling with Dr. Fuller. The doctor was clearly terrified since Sam was much bigger than he was, but that wasn’t the most pressing thing. His arm was cut due to the silver letter opener, but he wasn’t in pain at all from it. Rushing over to Sam, you grabbed his arm when he raised it to stab the doctor.
“Sam! It’s not him!” you yelled. “Look at his arm. That cut's not burning!”
Sam, once he realized what he’s done, he dropped the blade on the ground. Looking behind you, Dean widened his eyes in realization that he was wrong about this. Dr. Fuller was clearly scared of what was going on, so he didn’t move from his spot even after Sam was off of him.
“It’s not him,” you repeated to yourself which meant the nurse was.
There was something really off about her.

Jason knew his father worked in a high tech research laboratory doing, well he wasn’t sure, it being secret and all. And yet one year for some reason management decided to have a “bring your kid to work “ day anyway.
A bit chaotic no one noticed when Jason wandered into a restricted area and found some abandoned projects. One labeled ORATES setting on a shelf by itself all dusty and alone looked to Jason like it might be fun. “Maybe it’s some kind of Artificial Intelligence TED Talk dispenser or something.” thought Jason sticking it in his backpack, after all, it was very dusty so it was not like it got used or thought about anymore. The chaos of the ill-planned work event let him get away with taking it.
Unknown to Jason what the device’s name meant was Other Realities Attained Through Energized Superstrings, and Jason would have figured that out if he had paid attention to the world around him as he set on the steps outside the apartment building where he and his father lived as he fiddled with the ORATES trying to get it to work.
After all seeing three pigeons in a group of a dozen or more suddenly turn into red-tail hawks and take out after their former flock, a street light become a larch tree, a neighbor, and Mrs. Martingale in Apartment 3 G on her way to the store shrink from her five-foot, seven inches of height to become a four foot even litter person, her clothing changing so along so easily she didn’t even notice… yet, would have tipped Jason off that the device was not about to give him a lecture.
What it gave him, as he continued to fiddle with the dials was a new reality it plucked from another universe. With a snap suddenly Jason Tatham was Jasumin Takenaka Japanese exchange student from Osaka, who at the same time still knew she was or had been Jason of Burbank.
Taking herself in Jason / Jasumin’s first thought was “Oh crap, A.R.C. Research is going to throw me in jail if my dad doesn’t kill me first!”
That however proved not to be a problem as it turned out that his father had been turned from Nathan Tatham to Natsuko Takenaka and no longer worked at A.R.C. Research, but was the manager of the Octopus Japanese Restaurant whose only problem with her daughter was that she wanted to start taking ballet lessons again.
“This is going to get weird.” thought the Jason in Jasumin heading off to make herself feel better about the whole thing by doing some shoe shopping that Jasumin wanted to do. “I’ve got to show this thing to the other guys!” thought Jason thinking of his three best friends Keith, Mac, and Wendell.
Tumblr media
Jasumin Takenaka , Japanese exchange student, who just a few hours before had been a young American man by the name of Jason Tatham until through the use of a weird device he “borrowed” called an ORATES, which he thought was just a funny-looking radio but was actually an advanced experimental device the letters of its name meaning Other Realities Attained Through Energized Superstrings. Fiddling haphazardly with the ORATES had led to him being turned into Jasumin and shifting reality around the new her so that she fit in, even to the point of turning his father into his mother, and a restaurant manager instead of a research scientist at A.R.C. Research, so getting help from them was now out of the question.
So what was Jason / Jasumin to do?
Why of course find his three best friends Keith, Mac, and Wendell and show the ORATES to them, yeah that should be fun thought Jason with a bright Jasumin giggle.
Tumblr media
The first of his friends that Jasumin found was Keith Cook who didn't believe Jasumin when she showed up at his housing project home claiming to be a transformed Jason with the device that had changed him, but even if it was a weird joke Keith was not about to let it prevent him from spending time with the attractive girl at his door.
“Anyway that's what happened,” she explained giving the whole story of what had happened. “Right, Jasmine is it now? Sure, so if that's true then show me what that box of yours can do, fix this place up and make me look like not so much of a kid.” said Keith “It's Jasumin,” said Jason “which is Japanese for Jasmine, but still different, and while I'm still not sure how to work the thing...” Jasmine stopped on seeing the look of scornful disbelieve on Keith's face. “Sure let's give it a try,” she said and started moving dials and switches then switched it on while getting out of the frankly shabby apartment so as not to be too near it when it did it's work again.
Standing outside the door Jasumin heard the distinct deep B flat of the ORATES doing its thing, knowing it would cut itself off when done. Opening up the door and looking in she was shocked to see the job it had done on the sad excuse the city did for affordable housing, but not as shocked as what it had done to her friend Keith. “Holy crap that thing is real!” shouted a person who didn't look at all like his friend, but did fit in with the very expensive remodeling of the room she stood in. The former Keith took herself in “Jason you bitch! You've turned me into a MILF!”
As they assessed the situation that indeed seem to be the case as Keith found that on pausing and thinking about “her” life she somehow knew she was now Mrs. Kerri Cook, a forty-year-old divorcee (he refused to dare look in her mind to find who she had been married to) who lived with her equally `Sex in the City' older sister Felicia, who just a few moments before had instead been his single mother!
“This is insane!” said Kerri, “turn me back. NOW!” “yeah... I don't think I can.” said Jasumin “I've done a lot of messing with the thing, and I've turned a three stray dogs into ponies, an empty store into apparently a place that sells yo-yos, balloons, and flavored popcorn, and two when those two bullies, the Holland Brothers, made a rude pass at me the box sent them screaming down the street looking like a pair of GILFs older and sexier than you, but I haven't been able to turn anything back to how it was.”
“Oh, that's just great!” said Kerri, “now what?” “I guess we could ask Mac, he's the science guy,” He should be at that part-time job he has at that bar on 5th,” said Jasumin. Not being able to think of anything else to do, the pair headed out that way.
Tumblr media
Fortunately for Jasumin and Kerri while their friend Mac was at the bar where he worked, Fifth on 5Th, a nondescript generic lounge for young professionals and those who wanted to appear like they were on their way up without going broke, he was there alone setting things up for opening time in the evening.
“Sorry ladies, we don't open until four,” said Mac on seeing his transformed friends enter. The “ladies” explained their predicament, to their surprise Mac was more open to the possibility that the ORATES might be real, going on about alternate universe theories, and quantum flux states.
Because of this Jasumin felt bad that she had so doubted their friend that even before he started talking she had placed the super-science device next to Mac and turned it on thinking she would have to eventually to convince him anyway.
“Wait a minute, what did you Dumb Dora's do?” asked Mac “I know I haven't been hitting the giggle water so something isn't jake here!” That was when Mac, or after the ORATES had worked it's weirdness on him Macey noticed he was wearing long black silk glove on her left hand. Which led to her taking in the former low key lounge that now looked like someplace that Gatsby and friends might hang out. Which then led to the inevitable self-discovery on Macey's part “Horsefeathers! You dizzy dolls have turned me into hotsy-totsy Sheba! A choice bit of calico, bushwa! I've got bubs!”
“Ah...yeah?” said both Jasumin and Kerrie not sure they were understanding just what the flapper that Mac had morphed into was saying.
“Look, I'm sorry, this all seems to have gotten out of hand...” Jasumin started to say.
“Can the balloon juice sister!” said Macey. “I know a diamond as big as the Ritz when I see one, let us blow this popsicle stand, find Wendell like you were going to, do what we gotta' do then I'll let you in on the plot I just hatched to make us some mazuma.”
“Is that anything like money?” asked Kerrie. “You know your onions Bearcat!” said Macey “let's head for my hayburner and find Wendell.”
With that Macey shot up and dashed out of the changed Fifty on 5th the other two new women followed her to Mac's car.” “23-Skidoo!” said Macey.
Tumblr media
“Crap!” said Wilhelmina, formerly Wendell Brown and hour later having been quickly and without much ado exposed to the ORATES.
“Alright, what's you idea for making money?” asked Kerrie “Turns out I'm a lot more high maintenance than I use to be.”
“Simple dolls!” said Macey “we become the best hit molls ever seen, only instead of whacking the dopes we turn them into something useful to society like cake-eating dames or cigarette girls or some other sort of floozy and there Neds your uncle, we're in the money.”
“Jōdandaro!” said Jasumin, or “you've got to be kidding me!” in Japanese rolling her eyes up in exasperation.
“I've got to use the bathroom.” said Wilhelmina “Am I going to have to set down to do that now?”
The career of the ORATES Moll Mob was, to say the least, not having the most impressive of starts.

Memories - Day 8
This drabble/oneshot in my 24th birthday series is inspired by this song by Maroon 5. A Hannah Abbott pov where she finally has her hands on the keys to The Leaky Cauldron, sharing her first drinks as landlady with her boyfriend and their best friend in celebration as well as remembrance of those they have lost. Mentions of past character death and drinking.
Also on AO3 and FFN.
Hannah is ecstatic as she grips the cool, black iron key in her warm, sweating palm, holding it just an inch in front of the lock. She feels Neville’s calming presence flow through her as he presses his rough palm to her lower back, making her take a deep breath and stop bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet.
“Come on, Hun,” he says softly, bowing his head to her ear so that she leans into him. “You don’t have to wait. It’s already yours.”
She turns and meets his eyes, a wide grin spreading across her face.
“It is isn’t it?” she breathes, still slightly unable to believe it. She, Hannah Abbott, new owner of The Leaky Cauldron.
Hannah pushes the ancient key into the lock and the magic that had held its doors closed for the past month wraps around her hand in a warm, orange glow that feels like home.
“Mine,” she whispers as she finally pushes the doors open, only to dissolve into giggles when Neville wraps his arms around her from behind and lifts her up, nuzzling her neck as he carries her like that into the dark, dusty interior.
“You deserve it, Hun. No one will ever run a pub better.”
“You flatter me, Neville. Now put me down please so I can inspect my pub.”
Once he complies, she walks away from him, running her fingertips along the tabletops and over the backs of chairs until she reaches the bar, muttering a tergeo to clean off the layer of dust covering it. Underneath the bar, she finds an unopened bottle of ruby elf wine and pulls out two glasses, setting them in front of Neville for him to clean while she uncorks the bottle. She pours out two generous amounts and Neville lifts his glass to her across the bar.
“No one makes me prouder than you do, Hannah. You work so hard at everything you set your mind to, and your confidence in yourself and your love for everyone around you is inspiring to say the least,” his smile turns to a smirk and he gets a sparkle in his eyes, “and ridiculously hot at the most.”
“Oh, stop it you,” Hannah blushes, smacking the back of his hand lightly where it rests on the bar.
Neville chuckles and raises his glass further.
“To the best landlady, I know!” He clinks their glasses together and they take a big swallow of the rich wine.
“Better than Madam Rosmerta?” Hannah smirks at her boyfriend.
“Much better than Rosmerta. She doesn’t let me do this.” He leans across the bar and pulls her into a deep, searing kiss, tangling his fingers into her loose hair and making her moan with the way his fingers scratch at her scalp.
“Ugh, seriously guys? I know not to apparate into your flat, but I thought the pub would be safe!”
Hannah jolts away from the kiss she’d been so lost in that she hadn’t even heard the pop of apparition, blinking her way back into her surroundings. Neville was already striding across the open space, chuckling, to pull one of their best mates into his signature bear hug.
“Sorry, Dean,” Hannah called from the bar. “I’ll keep it professional from now on.”
“Not too professional that we can’t all get smashed on this celebratory bottle of 25-year Ogden’s I hope,” Dean calls back, holding up a dark bottle wrapped in a large red bow.
Hannah laughs as she pulls one more glass up from underneath the bar before downing the rest of her wine so they could start on the firewhisky.
“Come on then. Will Seamus be joining us?”
“Nah, he couldn’t get away from training. Sends his love though and said,” Dean clears his throat and adopts an Irish accent, “’Don’t come home ‘til you lot have celebrated properly. She deserves to enjoy this before she has to put up with slimy, drunk gits.’” The three of them promptly burst out laughing, Hannah having to wipe tears from her eyes and clutch her stomach as she calms down.
When she was taking deep, even breaths again, Dean was already pouring the golden liquid into their glasses. She takes hers from him with a clink against the glass, drawing her attention to her hand and making her stomach sink slightly. Distractedly, she twists the silver ring, inlaid with garnets, around her right ring finger, remembering how her mum used to do the same when it sat on her left hand.
“I wish my mum could see this,” Dean and Neville’s conversation breaks off and her boyfriend meets her eyes. “I wish she could have seen us now, happy, and come to buy the pub with me. She’d have loved cleaning this spot up.”
Hannah takes a large gulp of burning firewhisky then holds her glass aloft, the other two following suit. “To Mum,” she says. “I wish you were still with me. I wish there were a lot of people still here.” She stares down into the liquid swirling around her glass until Dean speaks up.
“To all those we lost,” he says, lifting his glass to his lips again.
“To Fred,” Neville joins in, echoed by Hannah and Dean, the three of them feeling the warmth of more firewhisky slip down their throats.
Hannah lifts her glass again.
“To Cedric,” she says, hearing the boys each repeat his name and then drinking to her old housemate who had always treated her like a little sister, talking her through transfiguration homework whenever she got stuck, which had been often because there was never enough theory for her to connect with.
Dean toasts a younger Gryffindor next, a muggle-born boy called Colin who should never have been at the Battle in the first place. Then they drink to Lavender who had always been so loud and full of life that her friendships had spread through all four houses.
Neville filled their glasses up again then held his aloft, beginning to talk about the Department of Mysteries, a story he had only told her in the vaguest of terms before.
“We went to save you, but you ended up saving us. To Sirius.” Hannah and Dean drink with him, stopping Neville from drinking too much, too quickly, with a squeeze to his hand and an arm around his shoulders.
Dean claps Neville on the shoulder then raises his glass again to make his own personal toast. “To Ted. I can’t thank you enough for looking out for me. Miss you, bud.”
“To Ted,” Neville chorused. “And Tonks too,” he continues. “Dora that is. And Professor Lupin. Your son is absolutely brilliant and you’d both be so proud of him. A right little Hufflepuff though, sorry Remus.”
“Professor Lupin,” Hannah joins in. “The best defence professor.”
“Professor Lupin and Tonks,” Dean calls, prompting them to drink.
“I think they’d all be proud of us,” Neville says after a moment. “To see what the world is like now.”
“Yeah,” Hannah had to agree. “They would.”
With another glass, the three of them started trading stories of those they had lost during the war, laughing with the good memories they recalled, filling Hannah’s pub with the warmth she’d intended.
She smiled, knowing that this was what The Leaky Cauldron would be. A space for laughter and memories shared with friends.

Dorado Cousins
(That are written so far. Inspired by @rachywritessomething‘s question. Warning, mentions of death and blood, it’s long and there’s Spanish. I suggest SpanishDict.)
Liza forced herself to go home to shower- the hot office and fear for her life had produced sweat- and change before she went to tío Rafael's house.
The three-story house was where Liza had spent her childhood since she was ten. Her parents had disappeared after the same accident that left scars on her head and somehow, she ended up living with tío Rafael. She wasn't sure why- he was her great uncle, and she had Aunt Camilla-Rose and Uncle Jorge. But that did spare her from Candela.
Liza marched up to the door to give it a solid knock. There was a moment before the door opened, revealing Lynn. She had been a foster child when Liza moved in, although she had moved out years ago to become a cop. "Oh boy," Lynn said when she saw her. "You should probably wait, Abuelita-"
"¡Lynn! ¡Vuelve, querida, para que sepas dónde está la fiesta!"
Lynn turned to yell back. "Un minuto!" Liza had paled at the voice from inside by the time she turned back, rolling her eyes. "Sorry, Abuelita's here, raving about Candela's engagement party."
Liza winced. "Oh! Um..." She rolled her sleeve back to consult the notes written on her arms. "Who is she..."
Lynn took pity. "This guy named Tom. Don't tell her or Abuelita, but I don't think he was planning for it to go this far."
"Lynn!"
"Un minuto, Abuelita!"
There were scoff and some footsteps, approaching the door. Lynn gestured for her to run. "¡Un momento, dice..." Liza turned to sprint but froze at the old woman's voice. "¡Ah! Elizabeth, preciosa, ¡estás aquí!"
She turned, fixing a fake grin on her face at the sight of the old woman. "Abuelita!" The old woman pulled her into a hug. "¡Me alegro de verte! Otra vez."
"¡También me alegro de verte, nieta!" Abuelita pushed Liza away to smile even harder. That smile warned that talk about Candela, Abuelita's favorite, was incoming. Lynn and Liza shared winces. "¡¿Escuchaste las noticias?! Tom finalmente le ha propuesto a Candela!" She opened her mouth to reply, but her great-grandmother was already dragging her inside. They passed three more foster kids- Tucker, Huang Fu, and Anne- playing in the living room as they entered the kitchen. "Rafael, Candela y Tom, Marisol, mira quién vino de visita!"
Tío Rafael was sitting with Liza's cousin and her twin, as well as a blonde guy who must've been Tom, at the kitchen table. Rafael aimed a warm smile at his great-niece. "Hola, Liza."
"Hola, Tío Rafael." Liza turned her fake grin to Candela, who was gripping and nuzzling Tom's arm like there was no tomorrow. (He looked a bit lost.) "Congratulations, Candela," she said in English, for the benefit of Tom, as she pulled up her sleeve. "I'm so happy for you."
"Heh, it's no big deal," Candela said with a sweep of a hand, showing off the huge diamond on there. "I just knew Tom was the one." Liza shared an eye roll with Marisol and Lynn. "Anyway, the party's next weekend at 5. You can remember that, right?"
Everything went silent. Liza could feel everyone's eyes on them. She managed to regain her smile, nodding. "Of course! Now, as much as I enjoy your...company, I'm actually here to-"
"Oh my gosh! You have to hear how he proposed!"
Liza felt the urge to bang her head against something.
-_-
A large cardboard box, Liza and Ted Bear's Pizza written in neat cursive on the side, sat there. She grabbed it and clambered back down. From what she knew, most of her childhood had been spent at the place before her accident. Maybe the videos would explain why Ted looked surprised at her name, or even give some sort of hint of what the Puppet expected from her exactly.
Liza pushed the ladder back up to the ceiling and turned, prepared to start watching some cringe- "Liza?"
"Marisol?" She said, explanations welling up for the ghost gripping her shoulder and watching her cousin. "Why are you here?"
"I left my purse here." her cousin said, seeming to not even notice Doll. Did she not see her? "Why are you here?" Liza held up the box as an explanation. "Oh, yeah. You work there now, don't you..."
Liza nodded. "Yeah. Kinda got curious and decided to see if I could jolt anything."
"I'll watch with you!"
So that was how Liza found herself loading the first tape she found in while Marisol was popping popcorn.
-_-
"Huh...that was cute," Marisol said to break the silence. "What did you think Liza?" There was nothing. "Liza?"
Liza was hiding her face.
"Still weak to compliments, I see."
-_-
"Yes. They don't want anyone to know."
"Then how are you telling me?"
There was silence. Bun stared at Liza, her eyes slowly darkening. Remembering what happened when that had happened with Ted, she took a step back.
"I'm sorry, prima." She stiffened. The voice was Bun's, but it also sounded so small. "Lo siento. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm tired." A funny little noise escaped. It took her a moment to realize it was a wail. "I'm tired of being angry. I'm sick of this!" The last sentence came out with so much anger, it broke her heart. "But..." Hands rested on her shoulders. "We might be sick of it, but she's not."
"I'm guessing she is the one in Ted." The possessed Bun nodded. "Wait! There are five of the ghosts, but there's only four animatronics. Where's the..." She stopped as a cold realization crawled up her spine. "...fifth one." She turned to stare at Doll.
Like how dew would evaporate on a warm summer morning, Doll's features shifted. Liza felt her stomach attempt to riot as she took her in. Instead of unbroken skin and neat hair, her head looked crushed. Green eyes were almost falling out. The blood that leaked from her skull stained everything. Doll couldn't attach to her suit for some reason, which meant she had been left to wander the restaurant.
Until a sunny day in 2005.
Another push broke her out of her thoughts. "Look, it doesn't matter who is possessing who, you need to go!"
-_-
“You did it!”
Liza came slowly. When she opened her eyes, she was in an odd-colored void and felt weightless. “Okay,” she griped. “This is getting old.” Honestly, at this point, she had a right to complain.
“You did it!” This time, something wrapped around her. Liza glanced down to see the little ghost form of Manny.
“Oh, hey.” she said before pausing. “You can talk?”
He smiled. “Hi, prima.”
A gentle smile formed as she reached up to stroke her dead cousin’s cheek. “Hey, primo.” Despite being in the void, her voice was creaky with tears she was swallowing back. Now that she knew who he was, she could recognize his resemblance to Uncle Vincent and the pictures of long dead Aunt Candela.
“...Puppet’s really proud of you,” he said, snuggling into her touch. “He’s resting right now, he’s always tired after helping Goldie.”
“Goldie?” Looking around, Liza now recognized the void’s color.
It was gold.
“Yeah! Um...I used to be really scared of him.” Liza adjusted herself into a criss-cross position, cradling Manny in her lap. He adjusted to the new position easily. “But he’s sorry for hurting me. He even helped Doll fix you when Rebecca used Ted to hurt you!” Huh- that put the whole brain bleed theory about her eyes in a new light. She couldn’t help the touch to her forehead and the bared scars.
“He...uh, he did? Why?”
“Well…’cause we’re family. And family helps each other. Right?” Manny stared at her with eager eyes.
“Yeah.” Liza said after a moment. “Although someone should tell Abuelita that.”
“Daddy used to say someone should tell Abuelita a lot of things.”
She chuckled. “Yeah. Goldie...he called me a Suit.”
“Oh! Puppet’s my Suit, but we can’t switch out like you or Doll or Goldie can. And I’m sorry.” Manny said, eyes filling with tears. “It wasn’t- it shouldn’t have been like that. After...what happened to me and Doll, he got put away and now he doesn’t work. He was supposed to share power, not possess you, but he didn’t have a lot of options.”
Liza wiped away the tears that began to roll down his cheeks. “Hey, hey, don’t worry! I’m not mad, just a bit confused. That’s all.”
“So you’ll stay?!”
“Wha- Yes! Of course I’ll stay.”
He grinned brightly, tears beginning to dry. “Yay! She’ll stay! She’ll stay!” He began to bounce around the void, cheering. Liza chuckled as she watched him. Is this how their relationship would’ve been if he had lived? He soon returned to tackle her into another hug. “Gracias!”
“De nada.” she said. His sweet eagerness was honestly adorable. A sudden thought occurred to her. “Calworth! He didn’t kill Calworth, did he?!”
“No.” Manny shrugged. “You asked him not to, so he didn’t. Everyone is really close to their suits, he’ll listen to you. Puppet listens to me.”
Relief flooded through her. Calworth would receive the proper punishment. Killing was horrible. Nobody deserved to die, even if they were sick and twisted like the Threat. Liza shook her head at the thought that wasn’t hers, rubbing her head. “Puppet loves you a lot, you know.”
His smile turned shy. “Yeah, I know. It loves you too. It...loved Elijah too. That’s why it tried to give him Goldie’s power. But…” His smile was replaced by a sad frown. “Goldie...was too much.”
Oh.
That was how...
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s not your fault. Elijah wanted it anyway, to make sure nothing like us happened again.” He suddenly sounded very old, reminding Liza that although it looked like he was younger and she was older, it was nothing like that. He was the older while she was the younger. “Goldie’s great to have around! He can protect us from Threats. But...he needs you.”
“I...thank you. For trusting me with this.”
Manny smiled.
“I know you can do it.”
The void started to darken around them. Manny, however, glowed brighter.
The last thing Liza saw was the bright glow.
It was gold.

Bnha Chapter 217
Long story short: I’m so happy this chapter exists, TBH.
Ok, now, my full reaction xD
(Sorry, this will be LONG. Do not read if you don’t need my silly reactions to a manga chapter or if you feel bored, really xDD Also, spoilers for 217 chapter!!).
Tumblr media
Kacchan helping Deku is the sweetest thing. He does it Kacchan-like, tho, and Dad Might literally chokes at the sight. My Lord do we start greatly. jpg x’DD
Tumblr media
Yeah, bienvenue to our lair xD
Tumblr media
Bakugo interviewing All Might. All Might just talking about his beloved master Nana. And so Bakugo concludes new pet name piece of shit Deku is the first one to experience this. We knew that already, Baku-boy.
All Might now thinking how good is to have Bakugo doing his work LMAO.
Deku seriously observing & listening to Bakugo’s serious conclusion 💘. This feeling is new. We have a new form of heart-warming, guys.
This entire reunion is pure gold. 👌
Tumblr media
Ammmmmmm. OFA & AFO may be the same, but it works differently. OK, I was not prepared for that. This could seem good, but the tremendous OFA power might be a problem in the future and so my theory of it having to be destroyed at the end increases its veracity. I’m worried about Deku’s destiny now, too...
OK, back to the comedy, Bakugo looses it and (we could say, accidentally?) begins talking about him being the Nº 1 again and AM reminds him to tune down his ego LOL x’D x’D This three will end my life, I swear you.
[Izuocha PD: My theory about Deku’s power responding to his feelings is that Ochako will have an important role for that... You know, like, maybe her being the one able to calm him down or something, and I mean when he developes feelings for her and starts thinking about them, not right now, of course... that would be great <3]
Tumblr media
I love Deku’s thinking while putting pressure in his lips. It feels so real and relatable, even.
Aaaand, Bakugo leaving. I can understand though. He just have no patience. You impatient asshole 😝 And AM worryng again over his sweet son. Well, duh.
Tumblr media
Look at Deku being... Deku. Sweethart.
Awesome! Class B is also here today! Yay! :D Whoaa, too much people!
Good, we have:
- Ochako, Tsuyu and Hagakure. Ochako being Ochako, same as Deku before.
- BFF Yaomomo & Jiro with their BFF from Class B, Kendo.
- Kinoko together with Tokoyami ‘cause she’s fangirling about Hawks. And blacky friend waiting his turn to talk with him too. Like, ????? Cute?? Emo dorks.
- Mina trying to figure out how to get Mineta a haircut 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
- Kirishima & Tetsutetsu BFFing. Of course <3
- More Class A + Class B interactions (Todoroki, Ojiro, Kaminari, etc).
Tumblr media
And BFF Todoroki waiting for Deku and apologizing for doubting him but he didn’t even seem angry, he was just being patient until he could ask him about it. God, their friendship means everything 💞.
And, BAKUGO LMAO. He knows Deku couldn’t even try to be that bad. What were you worring about, half&half bastard? Cute Kacchan! 😌😝😖
Tumblr media
Abussive parent turns into too worried/protective parent, I guess. Well, that’s.... that’s improvement, I understand. Not that I completely forgive him, but I’m happy how things are changing for the Todoroki’s.
Tumblr media
We have another piece of Aizawa’s past, this time being a name: Shiragumo (Doesn’t that mean something like White Spider?).
ERIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!. YESS!!! SHE’S SO CUTE WITH THAT OUTFIT (my reaction to everytime Eri appears, TBH).
Tumblr media
And we have Deku, Mirio and even Monoma too. This. Is. Improving 🙌
Dadzawa worrying about his little girl’s mental stability due to Monoma’s... being 🤣. Good shit.
Tumblr media
I also thought it was going to happen, really. Thank God for that mechanism is such a mood right now O.O’’’.
Tumblr media
Eri feeling guilty 😫😭. She’s Deku but in little girl form, I tell you.
Monoma nudging Aizawa to tell her something but he doesn’t have a clue what to say ‘cause sociability just isn’t his thing.
Tumblr media
Deku OF COURSE comforts her. Deku’s examples are always so cute and have to do with food (which our king of dorkies -his seiyuu- Daiki approves, honestly). Little dorky.
Cute faces for ending this chapter and it’ll be on break next week.
The end. Thank you for coming to my long TED talk.

Kim Namjoon.
Static screams in his mind. It’s hard to comprehend the lack of warmth when he was showered with it when you were around.
It’s easy to spot Namjoon. He’s the one everyone stayed away from. Through the eyes of a new inmate, Namjoon is described as, “Relentless, unforgiving, fist-first kind of guy” and apart from that, he is also “the lunatic who killed his own wife”. He has heard all kinds of versions of his alleged crime. From burying his wife in concrete, to plastering his wife’s body to the walls of the house he built; he’s heard it all. The mystery to his background adds onto the fuel. Namjoon was not imprisoned along with the other inmates. He has his own isolated cell. Rumour has it that he was given a 5 star meal despite his crime because he was the son of someone important who didn’t know what to do with their schizophrenic son. Some say he was mentally ill and wasn’t fit to be tried, that’s why there was no trial.
And to these rumours, Namjoon had said nothing. When he walks past the metal bars where the other inmates were leisuring around, always escorted by two prison wardens, they avoid staring. When he catches the new inmates’ eyes, his eyes turns dark, hooded and evil. Then he smirks. From the warden’s perspective, Namjoon was seen as charming. With his immaculate way of words, he is manipulative. He engages in a methodical approach of turning the words that came from others against themselves instead of directing them to himself.
He continues to baffle the so-called psychologist and psychiatrist with his disturbing logic.
The psychiatrist asks, “Hurting people is not normal, Namjoon.” To which he replies, “Ted Bundy wrote to Kloepfer in 1977, quote ‘I have known people who radiate...vulnerability. Their facial expression say ‘I am afraid of you’. These people invite abuse… by expecting to be hurt, do they subtly encourage it? End quote.”
Lie detectors didn’t work on him, and it was proven when he was asked if he had eaten or not; which he had calmly answered: No.
The lie detector dictates that it was true. But he did.
Thus, when he was asked if he has killed or not;
“Did you kill your wife on July 2nd, 2016?” “Yes.”
The lie detector expert says, “True.” Namjoon shot his head up and smiled eerily, “Ask me again.” “Did you kill your wife on July 2nd, 2016?” “No.”
The expert gulps nervously but Namjoon remains calm. “True.”
Mind jumbling sessions, the vast incomprehensible mind of his ushers many experts to turn away from their theories, concluding sessions with him as : inconclusive and or, undefined. They ran MRI, CT, CAT scans on him and found nothing else but extreme intelligence quotient beyond comprehension.
Namjoon is a genius.
He had spun around switching fluent foreign languages he had heard only once on the radio in the prison, mastered several other slangs, and had linguistic intelligence levels higher than the current known competitor. His actual number of estimated IQ, EQ and SQ was kept a secret. One of the reports about him, written by the nationwide acclaimed neurosurgeon concluded: incredible. That’s why he was kept in an isolated cell. Even though so, he doesn’t show any signs of aggression, or even any attempts to escape.
Namjoon is one of those ‘friends’ who seemed like they don’t belong there, but at the same time, does.
Always with books, Namjoon is a pretty easy inmate to take care of. So easy, that he was given much space when he works. Usually designing a new machine the government requires him.
His fingers are stained with oil lubricant almost always, twisting the spanner until it went past its cycles. He begins welding the metals with a welding machine, securing the bolts together. Make sure it’s stronger than his will to continue living. Given his engineering background and machinery know-hows, Namjoon has been stationed to help create metal frames and fixing any machines that goes out of service. It had been three years, so it was something routine for him.
Today however, a visit has delayed his work. The warden calls him out and told him he had a visitor. At first, he refused if it was Kim Seokjin. Or if it was another quack wanting to prove that he knows Namjoon’s brain more than the others that came before him. Namjoon isn’t in the mood. That was an amenity that Namjoon has: to turn away visitors as he’d like. He has another book to finish and he is waiting for lunch because they said it was going to be potato stew. He loves potato stew. Imagine his surprise when he heard some other name that rang no bell to him. A total stranger. He entered the room in a relaxed stride, his orange overall and striking gaze was what Jungkook caught first. He stood up at the presence of that men and stretched an arm out for a shake. Namjoon might have been an accused killer, but he is most certainly not rude. He takes the hand and gave it a firm grip.
“I’m Jeon Jungkook, I bought your house…” Jungkook introduced himself with a polite lopsided smile, unsure how to bring forth what he was planning to. Namjoon was taller, buffer, and far more experienced than he was. Judging from the age difference. Namjoon took the seat the same time he did, but unlike the psychiatrist, psychologist, quacks and lie detector experts, Jungkook was very humane-like. No disturbing smile, no creepy remarks like the warden who took him here had claimed. Namjoon was actually, in a sense of aura, quite pleasant.
Jungkook was reminded by the officer who granted Jungkook’s entrance who said, “That’s how all serial killers’ are, they’re all charming.”
“How do you find the house so far?” Namjoon engages with a gentle smile, but all he planned to do was read Jungkook from the top of his head to the tip of his toe. The only way to do that is to seem welcoming. “It’s tranquil, peaceful and…” Jungkook chooses his words carefully, provided his own linguistic skills, “outstandingly engineered.”
Namjoon’s lips parted as he smiled, reclining to his seat in a smug manner. Flattery, first impression is important. Namjoon could already see that Jungkook was curious. It seemed that he had found something that he couldn’t explain.
“Which news are you from?” Namjoon flicks his nails, with the other. “I’m sorry?” Jungkook’s face contorted in confusion. “You have a pen on your left breast pocket, your hands are far too soft for a mechanic, and you have a very small voice. You’re a writer,” Namjoon shot his eyes straight at him, drilling through the young men’s skull. Also, the fact that he had come all the way means that Jungkook had used the study room, where there was traces of blood behind the bookshelf. And the fact that he is here, suggests that Kim Seokjin has told him something. Or he has found something. Or both.
Jungkook refuses to fill into the pride that Namjoon must have felt when he guesses his job correctly. So he changed the topic by sliding his fist onto the table in front of Namjoon. When he opens them, a metallic cling resounded across the room. Namjoon’s wedding band.
“You loved your wife, you wouldn’t have killed her…” Jungkook dug into his breast pocket for a stack of polaroid. Showing Namjoon with his wife, eating ice cream, riding bicycles, pictures of her sleeping, picture of her working, with children, of him sleeping next to her that she took, at the beach, in the snow, strolling autumn park, buying white carnation bouquets. This was different. Namjoon looks away.
“If you did, why did you kill her?” Jungkook tilt his head to one side. “This visit is over,” Namjoon pushes the chair back and left.
The longer the memory resides, the more likely it becomes deceptive. This is where the line between reality and delusion begins to blur. The truth and lies becomes a concoction of Machiavellian turmoil. Namjoon starts to confuse the truth of the past and the lies he had created in his mind. Namjoon’s brain was so powerful that it could create a memory with a feeling that isn’t there. To Namjoon, it was the simplicity of ‘being in someone else’s shoe’ concept. But the scientists call it brilliant. Not only was he able to convert a scrap of the recollection into a complete lie, he was able to incorporate the emotional expense that goes in it. He can make a happy memory to be sad or tragic when it wasn’t; and make a sad remembrance to a happy one--there was no telling which part is a lie, and which isn’t.
We all lie.
But tonight he didn't want to lie. As he lay on his thin mattress and the dim light from the moon, his loyal companion, he begins talking to it. Maybe it was loneliness, maybe it was longing, maybe it was regret. But Namjoon spoke in hushes.
“Mine, forever...and always.”
Tumblr media
2013. Summer.
He had been folding, unfolding, repeatedly the silk tie he was told to use. After two knocks, the door reveals his mother walking in with an envelope. She slide them on the bedside table, muttering, “The invitation is inside, don’t forget this…” She reminded him with nasally voice, crumpled tissue in her hand. She did a quick glance of her son’s spacious room, and had a seat on the bench by the bed, next to the large window. Unable to bear the sight of him fiddling with the tie, she raises from her seat and craned her head back. Namjoon’s eyes stuck to the left and then to the right, unable to focus.
“Don’t worry, you’ll represent your father well,” her voice soothing him. The nervous splayed over her son’s face isn’t easy to ignore. Namjoon was exceptionally cautious in terms of hiding his fears, but not when he is home, like this. Heart on his sleeves, he is almost transparent in the eyes of his mother. “You like charity events,” she added.
“Yes,” Namjoon inhaled and held his breath, “When they don’t involve money.”
“Nonsense,” his mother spat with a secretive smile, “Charity events always involve money.”
“Mom, I’ve never done bidding before…” Namjoon confessed. Only 19, what does he know? “It’s not about the bidding, my child,” she pauses, smoothing her hand over his shoulders, and handing him his suit, “It’s about showing that you bid. Didn’t Seokjin ever tell you how?” “I hadn’t spoke to him in ages,” Namjoon shrugs and looked into the mirror. The suit fit snugly and comfortably. His tall stature emphasize the amount of charisma he holds. “Why not?” his mother asked. “Seokjin...well,” he stopped, shut his eyes and fasten the tie clip onto his tie, the thought of Seokjin drinking and clubbing flashes his mind briefly, “We have different principles to live by when it comes to things not involving business.”
His mom sends him to the porch where a Black Sedan is waiting with the doors’ open. He gave his mother a half hug and unbuttoned his suit before he climbs into the car. The helper shuts the door for him and the car window draws down after his mother made gestures to speak.
“Even though he’s not here, he’d want you to do well. I’m sorry we couldn’t come with you,” his mother sighed, feeling guilty. “It’s okay, I’ll be home as soon as I can. You can depend on me,” Namjoon beams. Pushing his full rimmed glasses higher up the bridge of his nose. His mother pats his hand twice.
In the car, his knees couldn’t stop shaking. Feeling his lips dry as time passes, he grabs his lip balm and applied some. The driver threw a glance at him with a smile, but didn’t utter any words of comforts. Namjoon had an aura of leadership, where he is almost always seen as someone who could take care of themselves well. That’s why his father wanted him to pursue the family business without asking him of his dreams. He was so capable. Stands tall, with magnetizing presence, excellent mannerism and fluent in many languages. Charismatic, charming, chivalrous and purposeful. But Namjoon, on the inside is anything but.
He arrives in style, the door is opened for him, he exits the car and re-fastened his buttons back on, he realises another car stops just behind his. It was Seokjin, in his black turtleneck top and beige long coat. The medias are pooled at the foot of the event, as always. The camera flashes when Namjoon walks forward, he posed for the picture and gave a little wave where soon after, Seokjin skips to him and gave a handshake. He gave a salesman smile at the cameras while muttering at Namjoon, “You punk, you changed your number without telling me.”
“Didn’t think you’d need my number now that you have the Jung Corp. only son in your best friend list,” Namjoon smiles politely back. “If you’re jealous, you should have just said so,” Seokjin wrapped one arm around Namjoon’s shoulder and again, waved at the flashing camera.
A rush of wind suddenly tickled Namjoon’s ear. That’s when he glanced over his shoulder to see far behind the luxurious hall. Another entrance, and on that entrance, there’s a school bus pulling to a stop. Children both big and small, boys and girls, exits from them, all giggly and laughing excitedly. Their clothes far too thin for the weather, colors are faded and their shoe soles were worn out. It was easy to deduce that these children were not the kind Seokjin and Namjoon grew up with. At this spot, where he stood, facing the flashes by the thirsty media who wanted to know what his lunch was and if or not he bought a car, was so different from the kids who left the school bus felt.
We were here to do a charity event for them, but those kids walk behind because their clothes aren’t pretty enough for tomorrow’s news first page. In his thoughts.
Namjoon already hated being there. Capitalism had once again shown how ridiculously merciless it is to those who are simply aren’t enough. Namjoon looks at Seokjin posing for the camera, the clickers non-stop, applauding him for his good looks, and his social status. And here Namjoon was, incredibly seen and yet… unseen.
Dinner is a full course meal, beginning with appetizers. The higher social status you are, the further up stage your seat is. It didn’t matter what your age is, if your family is influential or massive economy provider, your status rises. Namjoon sat in between Korean Airline owner, Mr. Cho Yang Ho and socialite, Ms. Han Ji Sook, whose family owns a luxury jewellery brand. Namjoon’s family has a car business and real estates around Asia while Seokjin, seated at the neighboring table, owns a fishing company. He is going to start a delivery company soon and wanted to be on the same table as Namjoon next year, that was his goals.
Another two, sharing the table with Namjoon is Jung Corporation, Chief Financial Operator, Jung Young and wife. They are owners of mobile communication company and had just started Scholarships for students aspiring to be Programmers. Namjoon’s family isn’t a shy away from all those success. Their net worth isn’t disclosed to the public because it is too large. But the organizer, Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development must have a record on all that. On the bright side, the event is to enlightened the hardships subdued by charity homes that runs welfare, free health check ups for the homeless, orphanage and families living poverties, to request financial aids from these big companies.
However, the children who were invited and ‘celebrated’ are placed in the back of the hall and sat on the floor. There are no tables or chairs for them. Namjoon looks at the children, so well behaved, sitting quietly, waiting. Some of them are sneezing because the weather is too cold. Namjoon captures the arms of a waiter, asking if the heater can be increased a bit more. The waiter replies, “No, there’s no heater in that part of the hall…The portable one hasn’t been fixed.”
And there, the children are passing one piece of tissue each, to one another. Shrugging in place to fight the cold. The audience, continues the chatter, gleefully laughing, crossing their legs underneath the table, keeping up with their friends, not noticing the things the children’s are going through. Oblivious. Not noticing, or refuse to notice?
The emcee taps the microphone and began his welcoming speech. Cho Yangho, uninterested to know the objectives of the event, leans to Namjoon to snicker, “Just say you want our money, why make it sound nice…”
Apart from an awkward smile, Namjoon didn’t say anything else. He was already placed in such uncomfortable position where the press could start a wildfire rumor of him dating 40 year-old socialite Ms. Han Ji Sook just by sitting next to her, and the person on the left isn’t any less prejudicial. He just wants to be home, but his stomach grumbles. He glances to the back where he saw the children, and a lady was passing them blankets. The gesture oddly relieved Namjoon. Finishing the welcoming speech, the dinner begins with appetizers for the VIP attendees. Well-served, well cooked. A chef probably.
While Namjoon was eating, he heard them.
“I specifically wrote on the forms that there will be 30 children, how come there’s not enough food for them?” “Look, Miss,” the waiter sighs, “We got you 20 packs of food because if we give more, we will be out of budget for the other invitees. The 10 children can share.”
Namjoon fidgets his eyes to the direction where the conversation took place. But he wasn't able to see the woman that told the waiter about the food that wasn't enough. As he was scooping another spoonful of soup, he glanced at the children and saw  that they were eating food taken out from a nearby restaurant. A fast food restaurant. Only fried rice and bottled water.
At that moment he felt guilty. Namjoon was unable to explain the guilt that he felt as he sat so comfortably on the chair while the children from the Orphanage were on the floor. And the only reason why they are placed there is because they had no parents, no social status, and no money. His table, filled with the rich, left their food unfinished and taken away while the children ensured not even one grain of rice left. Namjoon himself couldn’t find his appetite to eat anymore. Not when he is witnessing unfairness took place. Without his parents around, he found himself even more aware of his surroundings. The things that he grew up to see and the consequences of the lands they took. Money is power.
Then, a female voice came from the stage. It’s the same lady who handed them blankets. Beginning by introducing yourself, you smiled pleasantly at the audience. Your eyes were glimmering with tears but you blinked them away. It wasn’t hard for Namjoon to tell.
“I help run an orphanage in the neighborhood I lived in. I was taken away from my home at the death of my grandmother and placed in the orphanage I came from. In this house, I studied, ate and eventually got accepted to college. This year is my first year… you must be wondering why I would tell you this… We came here to live, these children we care for are, like it or not, part of our future. There are potentials, skills and talents that are not yet polished due to their shortcomings, and situations. Charity events such as these has high hopes to continue the ongoing of financial expenses that these houses handles every month. Some of them don’t go to school because we couldn’t afford school fees. We haven’t even spoken about food coupons, transportation, let alone talk about uniforms.”
“Where are these kids from?” Cho Yangho raises his voice, interrupting your speech.
“Excuse me sir?” you asked.
“You heard me. Where are they from?” He cockily smiled.
“Baby boxes, neglected children from parents who relies on medications, children whose parents are in high school, children who gets left behind because their family couldn’t care for them, physically, financially and sometimes, mentally.” Each word she stressed with a delicate power resembling a spark that could consume the hall if it wanted to
“Trash...Their parents are trash,” Cho Yangho spat, chuckling.
You feel your cheeks heating up, not from embarrassment but from anger. Whispering, you spoke through the microphone, “Get the kids out of the hall, right now please…” your helper was hesitant, but he did as told. One by one, the kids left the hall. At the sight of the last child leaving, a toddler barely two, you cleared your throat. Namjoon felt tense all of a sudden.
You looked so brave. Something, he could never be.
Balling fist and glaring eyes, you maintained a smile when he glances back to the stage where you stand.
You inhaled, “And like trash they sit on the floor,” the microphone is turned off because they wanted the millionaire to save face, so you stepped down from the podium and used only your voice to resonate through the hall,
“And like trash, they sit on the floor, eating from the floor, shivering in the cold of their cleanest clothes they could find. Like trash, they waddled inside this forsaken hall filled with the so-called ‘Nation’s Finest’, asking, no. Begging for security that they are not looked past of. I came here, entrusting the ministry to stop raising the rent for the house they owned just because they’re saving nobodies. Yes, we are trash. We are trash to breath, to live, to simply have become human. The world you created has made it impossible for these children to live. And if their petite bodies lay on the street when the government took control, their blood will be on your hands… Sir.”
Don’t call him sir. He doesn’t deserve that.
“You sure have a lot to say for someone who is asking for financial aids. I shall remember your name,” Cho Yangho said from his seat and two guards grabbed you by the arm and you were told to leave the stage. Namjoon witnessed you ridding yourself of the harsh grasp and growled, “I can walk.”
The emcee resumes the event with a small performance by the local trot singers. Namjoon threw his napkin on the table and excused himself to leave the hall for a bit.
“Charity event? More like ‘let’s cuss at poor people’ event. Treated like animals,” you grumbled. It didn’t sound clear at first, but slowly, the fast steps approaching from behind made you turn around. It was the young man from the table Yangho was on. You didn’t want to have a conversation after that outburst, not at all. You begin to move away after glancing saltily at him.
“Tell him, he can sue me tomorrow,” you dashed and that’s when Namjoon realised you thought he was in the team of crazy balding owner of Korean Airlines. He sidestepped and got in front of you with ease, provided his long legs.
“...I’m Kim Namjoon, Gangneung Motors & Real Estates,” he set out his hand for a handshake as a habit but you left it hanging and instead, gave a passive-aggressive reply, “Congratulations.” And a fake smile. Moving on. “I saw what they did to you and the children,” Namjoon sputters quickly to gain your attention. But you seem to be in a hurry. “Sir, Mr. Kim…” you collected your thoughts and smacked your lips out of annoyance, “It’s a very cold night and the children have thin clothes on, I need to bring them home as quickly as I can before one of them fall sick. Will you please…”
Namjoon appears to let you go but he asked, “Which orphanage are you from?” He’d do anything to talk to you.
His question made you halt at the door of the bus, and you responded by pointing your chin at the body of the bus where it states, passing, “Didn’t they teach you how to read in rich boys’ school?”
“Take a good look at it, the bus is going to be sold no later than next Friday.” You hummed and walked in, avoiding your helpers eyes. He caught you by the coat and you had no choice but to take the seat next to him. “You know we needed the money,” Jimin huffed.
“Can’t you put your righteousness away for one night?” He whines in a husky voice, keeping his sounds low because the children were beginning to fall asleep. “They called us trash, Jimin... “ you ran your fingers through your hair, looking over your shoulders at the kids, “They don’t deserve that. They didn’t ask for this life.” Jimin took your hand and squeezed it, looking ahead to the destination.
“I sold my car to pay the bills this month. What are you going to sell?” he lands his head on your shoulder. “I’ll see what I can find,” you grinned tiredly.
Washed over tiredness, Jimin begins to drift away to his much needed sleep. But before he was gone completely, he asked, “Who was that guy just now, asking about our home?” You couldn’t answer Jimin, because you yourself didn’t know.
He is still standing there where you left him be. He hopes that the cold night can kill him and therefore he doesn’t need to re-enter that hell of a event, knowing Seokjin will be curious as to why he needed to run after the girl. He types in Naver, the web search engine, with his nimble thumbs, “Camelia Orphanage.”
Tumblr media
Present day.
Namjoon startles awake. Sweat beading on his forehead, heart and lungs going separate ways. His warden knocks on his cell asking, “Namjoon, is everything okay?”
He nods. “Always the same dream, over and over again.”
The glass shatters upon contact on the floor. His hand grips into a neck of a woman while her hands fumbles for release. The sound of her restricted airways was the only thing he could hear. She falls to the floor and coughing, touching her neck, he went to her and delivered a slap with the back of his hands. With the broken glass, he strikes the side of her head.
And Namjoon jolts awake.
He massages his temples with one hand, eating his happy pills and went for a morning exercise. Today, instead of doing three rounds on the field, Namjoon is in his cell, given a pen and a paper. He is writing a letter, addressed to: Jeon Jungkook.
It begins with:
“You were right. I loved her. In fact, I love her, still. Before I even saw her face, I heard her words. She has a lovely, sophisticated and well-mannered voice. And there’s so many things words can say about a person. They tell us what hearts they have. She, she has a kind one. When I first laid my eyes on her, it’s like the sun came out. She was on that stage alone, standing on that podium, bravely, determined. Unlike me. That’s what I thought, how she was unlike me. She was all I wanted. I wanted to give her everything, but I didn’t know how. Funny how we are taught everything, but to love.
It was difficult at first, I researched the Orphanage she ran. I provided food they needed, financial aids, whatever they might need with the money my dad gave me for allowance. I didn’t need the half a million won in my bank. My cheques reached her closer than I ever was, but my heart was hers. Until one day, the bank said the account I transferred money to, was closed. I went to visit her college on my semester break and watched her work as a waitress, mascot, passing out flyers, as a cashier all the while studying, herself. An evening after so many evenings before, I finally muster up courage to meet her. I didn’t know how to introduce myself.
When I saw her serving grilled fish, wearing that dirty apron, wearing that tacky cap and in the same shoes she was wearing on that day I first saw her, I choked on my words, staring, eyes focusing on her. What was I doing? I’m a rich man in love with a waitress. Then the lights in that tiny canopy stall by the streets turns off. Light from the emergency rod lit up and I saw her. I saw her smiling. Smiling in the middle of mishap, assuring everyone around her that everything is alright, like she is used to this. And it struck something in me. The strength she has. To make most of what she has within her hold.
Again, I walked in that shabby pop up stall that stench of oily cheap beef, into a crowd who knew each other like families. In my expensive suit, I couldn’t fit in but my desire was strong. She looked at me, in the gaze so clear that I could see myself, familiarity sinks in, and she calls my name. My full name. I couldn’t express how happy I was to know she remembered me. There was no time for all the romantic stuff I planned, and the confession was rushed and in haste. I remember her smirking at me, I was scared for the life of me. And she asked me, to prove it. Prove that I love her. Not by my money, not by my status, but as me. As Kim Namjoon. And it silenced me, because I don’t know who that was.
Jungkook, I can call you that, right? To many, the ideas of love at first sight is often romanticized in movies. But my love to her had to be earned. And I have never earned anything in my life, on my own. So I took on part times jobs with her. Around her, always close to her. Those were our dates. Meeting during lunch hours, running into each other on the streets. Cycling on Han River, eating shared ice creams, fighting over skewers, running to the nearest bus stop in the heavy rain. You were right. I loved her. I love her.
I married her. Despite the protests from my parents. I married the love of my life, along with her sorrows, her despair, her pain and soul. I married her, with a promise… to love her, until she wants me to stop.
That day, I stopped. I think I did.”
Namjoon, in that letter continues to tell Jungkook word by word how he fell for his wife slowly, almost effortlessly. How refreshing she was to him. Compared to everything he had been raised with. He never had to worry about the future because he has his parents, knowing her, has made him realised how flawed the system was. Not only was he ready to devote himself to her, he was learning. As enthusiastic he was to understand the things he couldn’t, his parents didn't share the same excitement towards you. They were weary of letting someone ordinary into their spectacular family. The top 1% don’t simply allow any commoners in, especially without business benefits. They had plans for Namjoon already.
But quite literally, the future seems bleak because Namjoon is helplessly in love. With his brilliance, he was able to be a part of the construction and under discreet orders, had commanded a third house on that street to be erected on his behalf. Namjoon held the original blueprints to the construction while the developers held the ones he traded with. You knew nothing about it. He said he bought the place. It had only walls and floorings. Both of you built it, from the ground up. The house was yours and his. Sitting on the floor with warm mugs of coffee, the only mattress in the centre of the room, Namjoon remembered how cozy it felt. He shared dreams of the future with you. Held you tight and gently. The smell of brewed coffee filled the air. And he was home.
“I had a bad feeling about this,” was what she said. The day the letters from the government came, that the orphanage was being demolished and the children were being adopted one by one. You held him tightly in a hug that was meant to sooth you. Resting his cheek on the side of your head, Namjoon consoled, “I’m sure it’s just your mistrusting nature talking. The kids will be okay.”
All Namjoon’s defenses become construed because one day, the bad feel came true. A boy, around 13, ran to your house barefooted. His lips bloodied, face swollen and bruised, clothes torn—neglected. You turned the main door knob in a hurry and sped to the street, holding this boy before he falls to his knees. Weak, and unable.
You stared at Namjoon as he stood at the balcony. In those eyes, were hatred, distrusting and disappointment. Because even though you’re his wife, you don’t belong in this community.
Another question lingers into Namjoon’s mind, Who was that boy running from?

All of the persona users all find that the air around them is ticklish, but it doesn't seem to be affecting those who haven't been in the TV realm. Would going back to the crater help them find any new clues? (Thieves in Inaba)
Thieves in Inaba Part 30
The Invetigation Team is reading over the data provided by Futaba. And Yu is tense as he reads his phone.
“Nanako noticed something odd in the air…” He mutters.
The others look to him as he puts away his phone. “Guys? Does the area around here feel odd to you in any way?”
They all go quiet, but then Yukiko takes a sip of water. “Oh, sorry. It’s just I’ve been getting this really dry throat as of late..”
“It seems to be affecting us each differently..I find myself getting drained quckly out here..” Naoto states.
“I think it’s one of three, I’ve been feeling kinda tired myself.” Yosuke states. “But I have a feeling I know where Yu’s going with this. Kou and Daisuke only talked about the air quality because Ryuji brought it up according to the report Futaba gave us.”
“Right, and the idea to check was brought to our attention by Minato speaking with Nanako. Well… the deal is Nanako went into the TV…and the rest of us have Persona…” Yu sighs. “So…what could this mean?”
Teddie snaps his fingers “The meteor!”
“What do you mean Teddie?” Rise asks, sitting down in a bench. The others gather around it.
“Well, think about it. All of this didn’t start happening until that giant rock crashed in Inaba!”
“Bear’s got a point. Police were super quick about sealing up the area too…you think they know somethin’ we don’t?” Kanji looks over at the barricaded area nearby. “
“It’s possible.” Naoto nods. “During Ren’s group’s rise, the majority of the Police force in Japan were under influence by Shido. Despite his current prison sentence, his most loyal still remain at large…”
“Which means they could be covering up something to abuse it’s power?” Yosuke asks. “If that’s the case then we gotta go see that Meteor!”
“So! We’ll need to sneak in. Kanji can destract the guards while the rest of us slip in. Oh oh! Or maybe we can-” But Chie gets cut off by Yu.
“Wouldn’t it be easier if you and Naoto just requested permission? You’re training in the Police Academy and Naoto is fully registered with good credits. If they turned you both down,it’d look bad on them.” Yu puts his hands in his pockets.
“But what if it doesn’t work, Partner? We need a back up plan.”
“Well…then I’ll just test out my theory about the Meteor right then and there.”
The others look confused, but Yu just stands up straight. “The more time we waste, the less info we get. Let’s move.”
Making their way to the two guards, Naoto and Chie walk up and flash their badges.
“Look Miss Detective Prince, we’d love to let you pass but the area beyond is dangerous and we can’t risk loosing the last detective we have of your caliber. After Akechi vanished, you’re all we have left.” The officer on the left seems to be trying to get her to back off with complements. Not that it’s working however.
“I have important business in regards to the Meteorite, now move.” She’s not requesting permission anymore, she’s demanding it.
The others are trying hard not to freak out, even Chie is having a hard time keeping her composure.
“What did you say? Are you really so full of yourself because you got into the force before high school that you think you can just give us orders?”  The two officers seem to glitch a bit.
Naoto suddenly realizes something. “You two aren’t human, are you?”
Chie nods, looking closely at the two. “Yeah, look at them. Red eyes and all, they’re shadows pretending to be officers. But…if anyone in public sees us fighting police officers…we could risk getting arrested by real ones…”
The shadows laugh. “That’s right, girl. You can’t win this round so give up and go ho-” Lighting suddenly strikes them out of nowhere.
“If it’s not seen, it doesn’t count. Now come on let’s go.” Yu runs to the site. The others shrug and follow.
“Wait dude, you were able to summon Izanagi back there, but how? We’re not in the TV World or anything!” Yosuke holds his head in confusion.
“It’s the same reason why those shadows were here, the Meteor is allowing it to happen somehow…” Yu places his right hand on it. “Despite the time that’s passed, it still feels hot to the touch like it only landed a few hours ago. But why?”
“Ted? You have any idea?” Youske asks, looking to the blond shadow.
“Well I can’t think of anything…but maybe our new threat caused it to appear?” He shrugs, not able to come up with more detailed explanations.
“We should have Mitsuru’s group look at it and…” But suddenly Yu’s cellphone rings. It’s an unknown Tokyo cell number, but regardless he answers it.
“H-Hello? Please tell me this is Yu Narukami!” A panicked teens voice is on the other line.
“It is, who is this?”
“Y-Yuki Mishima! You guys tracked me down a few days ago and-” there’s a girl’s scream followed by a roar. “DAMNIT! Ren gave me your number and told me to watch after your cousin! There’s some sort of monster in the city! They’re trying to fight it off but they want her and me!”
“Wait what?! Are you in the city right now Yuki?”
There’s no response.
“YUKI!”
“Y-Yes! We’re hiding in the movie theater! Everyone else doesn’t seem to see these monsters but somehow Nanako and I can! Please hurry! We-” The call goes dead.
Yu looks to the others. “We have to get to Okina, NOW!”

Young Justice Theory: Connections to the Crisis Quartet....
Tumblr media
So about this rather interesting spoiler I discovered thanks to the CBR board... Better safe than sorry on this one because if this turns out to be true then it’s a doozy of a situation that the crew is going to be put into. So a fair warning before you dive in...there are spoilers below to several DC comic events: Identity Crisis, Count down to Infinite Crisis, Infinite Crisis, Identity Crisis, Crisis on Infinite Earths, 52, Countdown to Final Crisis and Final Crisis.
These stories contain: Death, some gore, and at least one has a rather unpleasant factor of rape being involved as part of it’s story. Because I’m going to be discussing the above things partly in this and there will be pictures that might upset some people I just want to give people a heads up. You have been warned going in.
Okay so what the hell am I going on about and honestly when I was reading this I was freaking out. So a post of so ago I mentioned some theories about this season and talked about the possibility of the Anti life equation factoring into the story. Thanks to the gallery for the next three episodes, this wonderful post here from Spitfire or Bust, the Behind the scenes footage from this season on the DCUniverse, a post on CBR’s forums, and a link to  young justice.tv spoilers, I can almost 90% say Seasons 3 and 4 and possibly 5 will be dealing with the Crisis Quartet, or at least three of them, from DC’s main comics.
We know that this is going to be a thing as Greg already confirmed in season 2 that season 3 was going to deal with Apokolips, just not how much directly (as this story can’t be told in 26 episodes, no way in hell it would be horribly paced).
We also know that the names of the episodes have been pretty much confirmed as Episode 11 is Called Home Fires and the Behind the Scenes image confirmed the title in the image that we see with Iris and Bart.
Tumblr media
The site in question has it as episode 9, however this confirms it as Episode 11. However they have the others right so far, so either BTS got the number wrong or the site did. Doesn’t change the factor that there’s some thing interesting in the titles.
Take each of the first letter of the first word of the names of the titles, and you get:
Prepare the Anti Life Equation.
This little message, has ties not only to Apokolips and Darkseid, but it also has ties directly to the Crisis Quartet and the fall out that happened after.
So first what is the Quartet? Well it is a group of four Crisis that happened in DC comics, three of which were between 2004 to 2010, while the first happened in 1985 -1986 and affected all stories that followed going forward after it.
So to simplify things. Here’s a fast rundown on the important factors about these Crisis and their connections to YJ Season 3, 4 and maybe 5 if things go well.
So Way back in the 1980s DC was having issue with keeping up with it’s own continuity because there was so many books and worlds. Because of this and their own anniversary coming up they tasked then Teen Titan’s writers Marv Wolfman and artist/co-writer Jorge Perez, to come up with an event that would solidify the DCU’s continuity. These two came up with:
Crisis on Infinite Earths:
Now this story while really important as the backbone in the main DCU going forward doesn’t have as much to do with YJ in the long run as of yet. But it does have some important factors that will be coming into play I think later on, and we already saw a part of this happening in Season 2 with Walley vanishing. So bullet points ahoy for only the things that are important in this story for later in comments.
Short and long of it is that a being named the monitor trying to stop another creature named the Anti-monitor from destroying the Universe. All the different DC worlds come together to fight him, Super-girl dies, along with several other characters, during this event where all the worlds in DC merge into one world with a over all collected history.  (This collection is still in print and you can find it at your local bookstore or comic shop.)
- Barry Allen vanishes as he’s running from the future or from an event that is coming from the future to warn Batman and the others an disperses into the speed force.
We’ve already seen this with Wally in his run where he vanishes in season 2 following a pattern of what happened to Barry.
- Superman from the Golden age, his Lois Lane, Alexander Luthor (son of Lex Luthor from another earth where the Villain versions of the JL resided and Lex and the others there are heroes), and Superboy Prime ( a superboy that is the lone hero of his world) all are put into a pocket dimension as the worlds are merged into one.
We haven’t had that yet, but it’s an important point in later stories. The reason I bring these guys up is because of their role and how other characters can easily fill in for them in the coming events.
Fast forward several years. The DC Universe has been remade and during the later part of the 80s and into the 90s we saw the whole “let’s go dark and gritty” thing happen. Characters like Batman had their back broken, Superman died and was reborn, Wonder woman had to figure herself out. There were light spots, JLI for example and parts of the Teen Titans, but a lot of things grew darker. Like the Outsiders and the whole Judas contract. While things did lighten up a lot in the late 90s and into the 2000s, we got Lois and Clark married by then, Jason died and came back to life, Babs got shot by Joker, YJ and a lot of other books that were more upbeat came about in the mid to late 90s, However DC decided that there was still a lot of things that could be fixed and decided to create, basically for the upcoming Anniversary of CoIE, a new set of crisis to happen.
This started with Brad Meltzer’s quasi thriller:
Identity Crisis
This story actually has importance. While not as exact as the other stories in regard to what’s happening there are enough key things going on here. The major plot point is that someone has murdered Elastic man’s wife, and the JL has a dark secret revealed that rocks every one. (Again you can find it still in print.)
One of the main reasons that there is significance to this story is not only does Batman leave the Justice League but also there is some tie in to characters in the past and their actions. What’s interesting here is how this narrative can be woven into the recent events of Season 2 and could become significant in season 3 and 4 given what’s going down now.
-Zantana mind wipes Dr. Light and several other villains, and does the same for Bruce when he discovers what’s been going on and is against the altering of Dr. Light’s mind.
Connections here may not be obvious as its clear the story line is taking Bruce leaving from the creation of the Outsiders. However there is significance here in that Batman doesn’t trust the league at this point, which adds into his paranoid view of the world at times.
While it’s clearly not Zantana in this case, Megan has been showing similar actions in season 2. We saw her changing Conner’s memory in the past season, and we know she did the same to Psimon, and Kaldur. We can’t be sure if these were the only cases, as Greg does like to play with expectations.
It would not be too much to buy into the idea that Psimon could play the part of Dr. Light in this story and eventually come back to form a group of villains that were mind altered by M’ggan. Now while I don’t think it will be exactly the same I feel like there’s going to be backlash from people when they find out what she did two years ago. As shown when Gar mentioned that it wasn’t cool what she did to Conner when he found out. And you know that Batman will be pissed by this, wondering if she did the same to Dick, not to mention Kaldur and wondering if he’s compromised.
-Deathstroke takes on the League and beats them by himself.
Deathstroke is known for being a bit OP at times, but in this story he outdid himself when he took down the whole league. We haven’t seen this happen yet as he’s only been in a handful of scene’s but given that there are hints of him returning, what with Tera missing, it wouldn’t be that hard to buy into the idea with the titles we have of one of them leading to a defeat of the whole YJ team, and pretty much protecting whatever investment he has been hired to protect.
Not sure how he’s going to fit in or who’s he’s protecting as of yet, because he was hired by Dr. Light in the original, but I feel certain that he’s going to end up causing a lot of issue for others in this case, more than likely Aquaman and possibly Geoforce.
-Events cause Batman to create Brother Eye, leading to the OMAC project
So because of the fact that Bruce figured out he was mind wiped by Zee, he decides to create the Brother Eye satellite that eventually goes rogue because of Maxwell Lord and Alexander Luthor mucking about with it. The main goal was to have the Satellite watch Metahumans because of the mind wipe that Batman and other had had.
Now we recently saw the appearance of Brother Eye, don’t believe me, just look at Oracle’s eye at the moment. It’s purple and it’s the same shape as the Omac logo. Thing is, Omac’s colors, along with Brother Eye’s are purple, Oracle’s are traditionally green.
This means that Bruce already may have built the Brother eye set up, since we don’t know if Babs could have built that sort of set up. This seems more like a Bruce thing. In addition to this, if he already has the Brother Eye project going this means that he probably knows about M’ggan doing her mind things, but isn’t telling anyone that he’s keeping an eye on them. Why? Well it’s Bruce, he’s paranoid.
So what would this mean for this season and upcoming ones? Well...
Countdown to Infinite crisis
In this case the story line was covering Ted Kord -Blue Beetle, who had tracked down a mystery which ended up getting him killed by his former friend Maxwell Lord who had taken over the Omac project and brother eye.
-OMAC project lead to the death of Ted Kord via Maxwell Lord and then this allowed Checkmate to take over Superman and have him nearly kill Batman and Wonder Woman and the other JL members. Leading to Wonder Woman to snap his neck and kill him to stop the whole thing from going down.
So one key thing here, Maxwell Lord was sort of the “Charlie” to the JLI’s “Angels”. He sent them on missions and the like, and while he wasn’t exactly a bad guy, he wasn’t exactly a good one either. By the end of the series he had realized a lot of his own faults and dealt with some issues that would take a while to discuss, so let’s say that he redeemed himself...
Then DC said screw it, we need a villain and made him become the head of Checkmate, a black ops/Shield like organization in the DC universe. He killed Ted Kord when he found out that Max was going to basically use a bunch of cyborgs and take over Superman’s mind.
Now while we know that Ted died when he stopped Sportsmaster and Deathstroke from obtaining the scarab, and we assume it was the Light that sent them to get it in the first place, there may be some connection to this part of the story given that we may see the play out of the mother box and possibly Ted having found out info prior to his death about certain things happening. I don’t think they will go for the “Wonder woman snaps necks” but it’s possible that something else will take it’s place.
(Okay strike that...given what happened recently with Halo in episode 6, I can see them allowing this if it’s within the reasons for the story.)
It is important though to note that if Brother Eye is involved this could lead to an additional army for Darkseid. Brother Eye and Omac did eventually control Superman, which could be something that may happen in YJ as an option. They also became a dangerous group that attacked everyone on earth trying to protect them from Metahumans.
And what are we seeing a huge backlash against in Markovia? Metahumans.
-During events prior to Infinite Crisis several events happened that caused a lot of issues. Among them being a point where Superboy (Conner Kent/Kon-El) was triggered by Lex to attack the Teen Titans at the time.
While this hasn’t happened yet, we do know that Conner has DNA that links to Lex, and in this story line Lex allowed for the triggering of his DNA to basically cause Conner to shave his head and become a villain that went on to try to decimate the teen Titans.
It’s not that hard of a guess that this could be something that could happen to him given that we’ve seen them pair up Brion with Superboy and it seems if anyone can take him on head to head in regard to raw power it’s Brion. This could lead to a moment of Brion trying to help his mentor.
-Following Identity Crisis and during the lead up to Infinite Crises we had Day of Vengeance, where the Rock of Eternity that housed the powers of Shazam was shattered by the Specter due to breaking from Hal Jordan.
Here it’s less about the Specter as we have not seen him in YJ proper, but the idea that someone could attack the Rock of Eternity is a rather big thing. Remember we have two powerful geological users here, and it could come down to Terra doing that over Specter in this case. Either through use of her own powers or possibly enhanced by New God equipment.
Reason I at all bring this up is the focus on Billy in Episode one and how no one yet knows his secret ID. This may become important later as if that Rock breaks, Shazam and all his power are gone and Billy would be revealed to be a kid. This would be something Greg would do to weaken the JL and lead to Superboy having to take on something more powerful without the Big Red Cheese to help him out. (For those that don’t know that’s the nickname of Captain Marvel -Shazam.)
Billy falling from the sky leads to the start of Infinite Crisis, which would be a very strong opening to possibly season 4 or towards the end of season 3.
Villains United
The reason I bring this up is because this group seems to be likely the new Light. Humor me here for a moment. In Villain’s united, follows a series of events where an individual by the name of Mockingbird groups together the organization that will be later known as the Secret Six to stop the Secret society of Super Villains that seems to be run by Lex Luthor. The story goes on to have ties to the events of Infinite Crisis, but also build up to some very interesting revelations in regard to Lex and Alexander Luthor. (You can still get this run at the book store.)
The thing about this mini series is that there’s a lot of things going on in there that could easily show up in the next few seasons of YJ.
-Lex Luthor who is the president amasses an army to stand against the super heroes.
We’re already seeing that Lex as Secretary has plans and is playing against the Justice League with the UN. We’re also seeing that there’s an army being made for fighting via Darkseid, but it’s clear that there’s more to it than just them giving him kids. We’re also seeing the Lex is helping to get others to dislike the Metahumans, the JL and possibly heroes.
Now while there is no Alexander Luthor (as far as we know), we also know that Lex, like Ra’s isn’t a man that just would let Darkseid walk all over his world. So I’m curious about this. If he’s playing up the dislike for Metas and heroes as a means of using them against something bigger.
-the Secret Society of Super Villains consists of Dr. Psycho, Deathstroke, Talia al ghul, Black Adam, Calculator.
Of these characters we’ve seen at least three on the show so far. Talia was just shown this season, though I don’t know if she’s going to have any role working with the Light. She could easily be replaced by Queen Bee, DeathStroke we know is probably connected to the League of Assassins and could be representing them for the Light group (though that could be another person as well) and was on the show in season 2, Black Adam was shown in Season 1 and as for the other two, we know Count Vertigo is working with them still, so you can take out Dr. Psycho, and since we now have Oracle, I would expect them to get Calculator to counter her at some point in time.
-Cheshire, Vandal Savage’s daughter and other characters that have played parts in YJ play a part in this story and here we learn about opposing groups in that story to the villains group. More importantly we learn that Lex may be playing more than one side.
We’ve seen last season that Lex is willing to play around a lot in regard to the side he’s on. This story line could be used as an explanation to where Cheshire is at in YJ and maybe show that there’s more going on that the kids and the JL doesn’t know about. It would certainly fit into the idea of more information in coming seasons and also could be used to push Luthor into becoming President. Which is honestly where I think Greg is going with this.
With all the new information coming out with these last three episodes, I think there’s more clues showing up for the option of Infinite Crisis happening and how that is connected into Final Crisis.
Infinite Crisis
This long event series, written by several of DC’s best writers at the time, covered various events that had linked to the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths. This story was coinciding with the anniversary of COIE, and heavily mirrors it but also acts as a book end to the after math of the more hopeful ending of that one with a mixed bag of an ending with this one. Several well known character’s end up dead, we get a new villain, and some massive changes happen to the characters that it would take another Crisis to undo.
The important thing about Infinite is it’s sort of the middle event, or Empire like story, for these Crisis. It also plays a role in leading up to events in Final and setting the ball rolling for Darkseid to make his moves.
We have a number of important characters that play a huge role in Infinite Crisis and then later Countdown to Final Crisis and Final Crisis itself already on YJ and it seems like this story has aspects that could easily fit in with this season or the next.
-Actions taken by the main trio of bad guys in this lead to the destruction of the Watchtower, and the trinity fighting with one another. Superboy Prime kills several people including Superboy, Kal -L (Earth two Superman) tried to get batman on their side but he refuses, They’re trying to use earth as a tuning fork to create a paradise and reshape the many different worlds.
While there are a lot of things in this story that I don’t see happening, I do see a few that can be used to effectively lead into Final Crisis. For one thing having M’comm replace Superboy Prime and also have him act as the instigator in various fights and wars by having the Martians go and pretend to be other characters.
We’ve already seen that Conner is engaged to M’ggan and her brother try to enlist her the same way that Kal tries to get Batman to join him. We’ve also seen the images of brother eye in the form of Oracle’s set up, and that the Mother boxes are being used in some way. M’comm is arguing for a revolution to make a paradise like world and we know that he is extremely strong and could easily play the part of Superboy Prime if he wanted too. We also see he’s willing to kill, something that SBP was more than willing to do, and blamed others for his actions.
These smaller items could lead into more dramatic moments later in the series, including Superboy’s death as a possibility.
Important events by the end hint that Bruce goes off with Dick and Tim to train, Diana returns home to find herself, and Clark has to lay low and rest to get his powers back after the events in the story. Given what we’ve been seeing with the recent episodes, we may be seeing similar things going on here. Bruce leaving to train with Dick and Tim seems likely as the story line seems to be invoking Judas contract as well and probably will be affecting Dick, who more than likely will have issues with the fall out of Brion and Tara, and Tim is going to be dealing with whatever happens with his new little crew.
Diana is a hard one as we don’t know her relationship with Cassie or Kaldur, so it’s up in the air, but Kal may take Diana’s role of leaving to find himself after the events in the story. And if Superboy doesn’t die, then he may step up for Clark in this case, or we’ll see other Super’s come into that role. Unless Conner is the one to lose all his powers.
52, World War III, and One Year Later
Following in the wake of Infinite crisis there’s the story of 52 which covers the time span of the 52 weeks between the end of the Crisis and the start of the countdown for Final crisis. While I don’t think 52 and the companion piece One year Later, is going to feature in this season I do think that we may see it feature in the next building up to the idea of a Final crisis like story and eventually into another time skip.
-52 worlds come out of the Infinite Crisis and Booster Gold learns about it with another time traveler Rip Hunter, oh and his robot friend goes evil.
It’s unknown if Booster is going to show up in this season, but there have been rumors. However, if he doesn’t show up this story line could go to a number of different characters, including Traci 13, Impulse, Flash, or even one of our new characters.
-Cult of Superman
While the story line regarding the Cult will probably drastically change, I do think that there are a few things that may come about from it. I think that it could be Zee working with Fate to deal with Neron, and Faust if he becomes involved.
-The Everyman project that Lex creates, which leads to Steel and Natasha Irons playing a large role.
This I can see happening in the wake of us losing members of the JL that depart for various reasons. Either because of the fight or they have to step down for some reason. I could easily see Lex using this in later seasons to grow his own mini power struggle with the Light and it would fit in with the idea of the Government wanting to regulate the Metahumans that are now showing up. Though I feel like this would be next season over this season.
-Jason Todd taking over as Nightwing and Supergirl returns from the 31st Century.
We already can assume a Red Hood story will come out of this recent revelation with Jason showing up, and we have Wally missing much like Supergirl was, and it’s not that hard to buy into the idea of Wally returning from the future feeling completely unsure of himself and talking about things that can happen due to what’s going down now. Jason, more than likely, could take over Dick’s costume and screw with stuff just because he can and probably feels a bit left out of things.
-Donna Troy takes over as Wonder Woman and Arthur becomes the Dweller of the Depths.
In the actual story there are reasons for both, but I think that Donna may take on the role if they have Wonder Woman kill Maxwell Lord. On the other hand I think Arthur may have saved Sub Diego during the two year jump and the reason we don’t have him is because he’s become this creature known as the dweller of the Depths. This would have lead Kal to becoming a leader while Mera acts as ruler underwater while Kal acts as leader in place of Arthur.
-J’onn comes to a different conclusion about being a martian on earth after being mind linked to Black Adam.
While I don’t see this coming into play during this season or during the time skip in the future, it may explain where M’ggan’s new look comes from. Maybe she’s changed to her new look due to some sort of event that plays with what happened to J’onn. While I don’t think that it will happen exactly as in the comic the precedence is there as an option for the two year time skip.
Other aspects that could play into the story and season 4 as a possibly: the trinity step down from their roles, Aquaman allies himself with Dweller of the Depths and King shark, New Doom Patrol, Hawkman goes missing, Jason and Dick both are Nightwing, New Birds of Prey is formed, Oliver Queen becomes the Mayor of Star City, New crew of Teen Titans, Vandal Savage starts up plans to regain his immortality, New JSA, Bart becomes the Flash, Tim Drake tries to clone Superboy to bring Kon back....
Not all of this will happen, but a number of these seem like givens.
Given how the UN is treating Meta humans, I can see the Trinity being forced out of their roles for a period of time. Kaldur may have to make deals to protect his friends if Apokolips is setting up for something dark and in doing so he may get in over his head. I can easily see Greg building up a new Doom Patrol in a one year later situation, and we don’t know where Hawkman is as of right now since he’s in the Rann shot.
Babs forming the Birds as a means of dealing with the Light and the League would make sense, Oliver could step into role of Mayor allowing for Conner Hawke to come into YJ as the new Green Arrow, and we know that the younger crew of YJ is going to come more into play. We also know that Vandel is working with Darkseid and into whatever plan he has for the Anti life equation. Bart becoming Flash could be an option if Wally isn’t brought back till later, and I have no doubt that should Conner die M’ggan will more than likely try to pull off Tim’s clone game to bring him back.
Would be interesting in lieu of Conner coming back we get Kara and have her show that there is more than just Superman.
Countdown to Final Crisis
So now we have come to the part where things become interesting. Countdown to Final Crisis covers the events that were supposed to lead to Final Crisis, but some of it doesn’t go anywhere. So I’m just focusing on Darkseid in this case, and if any hints of other stories shows up later in the show I’ll point it out.
-Darkseid is planing on being the Architect of the universe, and his brother Drax, aka Infinity man (who can be summoned by the Forever people) is killing the New gods.
Given the images we have so far and what we’ve seen in the episodes, it seems that this could be something that could play out in some way. We know Darkseid is working on creating something, probably the Anti life equation. We have Forager who comes from this story showing up in the show so far. The thing is that in this case we know that the with Infinity Man killing off the New Gods this leads to events in Final Crisis.
Honestly I can see some of this playing out here slightly. We do have the Forever People around and it would fit into the possibility that a New God is the one that is inside Halo.
I think for the sake of lenght that I’m going to tackle Final Crisis as it’s own thing over going forward with this one as it’s already really long.
See Final crisis theory of YJ for the rest. :)
