There is something I want to express and this fandom should know.

Nu: Carnival is a Harem game but unlike most games in the genre the relationships with MC are all canon within the same story, there are no "Routes", no "Alternate Universe/Timelines", it's all 1 Main Story where you get to gradually meet all the Characters who'll be your companions, in this game named Clan members, and all of them one way or another end up falling for Eiden (MC), which makes polyam relationship canon with Eiden as the center:

Like very few games have polyam representation, let alone a positive one, like yes the polycule it's very Eiden central but even then all the Clan Members interact with one another, as we see mainly in the time limited Events but also in the Main Story, and have friendly and amicable interactions, they rely on one another sometimes even without Eiden being involved.

But also, Aster and Morvay have a relationship established too since way before the events of the prologue of the game, Kuya and Quincy have hinted some sort of situationship (idk I don't care about Quincy and my knowledge about Kuya is limited to what happens in the story and events cause I have no limited SSRs nor have I read any of his Intimacy Rooms).

[Also if any of you knows of any other relationship that have been hinted at that i'm missing feel free to share, i specifically ask of you to refer to only canon, i know in fanon anything and everything is possible and sometimes we may be missperceiving some interactions between characters so i ask of you to take those rose tinted glasses off and see unfiltered canon, it's hard for me too ngl so dw]

All this started with some posts I saw about ppl feeling bad for Yakumo and/or Edmond to be "forced into a polyam relationship" when they are the "most romantic members" and "deserve a monogamous relationship", their words not mine, as if mono > poly , but also do you really think they're against it!?

One thing is being Clan Members against their will (which is all Huey's fault btw), having to work together to regulate the Altars' Essence (or their own) and then another one completely is involving themselves in a personal and intimate way with Eiden, which the latter they all did in their own terms and out of free will.

Also i wanna share one of the best and my fav scenes with Karu, which i know not everyone was able to experience it cause it's hidden in the Intimacy Rooms of a Limited SSR, but it expresses exactly why the polycule is consensual.

Context: Eiden has been worrying about forcing the Clan Members to be with him because he is the New Grand Sorcerer, against their will just because of Huey's magic that ties them together and the responsibility of Regulating the Altars and basically maintaining stability in the Klein Continent.

His worries began (at least that i noticed) in "Eerie Escapade" (Halloween Event), that was also the first time Garu got hurt while protecting Eiden and the first time Karu got mad at him and fronted to yell at Eiden (which is my another fav scene of Karu omg i love him so much i gotta go back and take screenshots of that but that's for another post), the second one being in "Army x Blood x Oath" (which are the screenshots i'll show u)

Because this are the Intimacy Rooms of Garu/Karu's Limited SSR this scene focuses on Eiden feeling guilty because Garu got hurt in the past (Halloween Event) and this time he lost his memory (temporarily, due to this event's story) and Eiden blaming himself for it all and wondering if they would be better off without him, but the same can and is applied to the rest of the Clan Members, seeing how Eiden met and approached Rei while respecting his privacy and independency even tho he's also a Clan Member and the newest introduced in the story, means that the Limited Events are also canon and part of the story because Eiden seems to be growing and learning from previous Events and showing that development in future Events and the Main Story.

Karu also mentions that Garu (prior to losing his memories) was also worrying about the same thing Eiden was, like 'what if Master (Eiden) stays with us just because of the contract with Huey? :c' and he calls them both idiots because they don't communicate and fronts to fix it! (Mighty Karu to the rescue)

And talking about "Eerie Escapade" that is also the event where Yakumo's possessiveness towards Eiden shows, i'll admit i haven't seen the last room but i feel like those people i mentioned before are using it as fuel to their idea, because if Yakumo is jealous of other Clan Members interacting with Eiden and "Wants him all to himself" that must mean he wants a monogamous relationship, right?

WRONG!

That just means Yakumo is a complex person that feels different emotions specially when it comes to the most important person in his life (Eiden) other than his grandparents!

And Yakumo feels guilty for having those feelings, not because of them being in a polycule and he not wanting to be in it, but because he has trauma and sees his desires and wants as selfishness and he would never allow himself to be selfish cause he doesn't want to hurt people, he's a people's pleaser! He lives with constant fear of hurting others like the Great Serpent did when it killed many (but apparently there may be more that meets the eye, because the current event hinted that the Great Serpent actually liked humans and took care of children ???)

And Yakumo dealing with those feelings along with his yokai powers as a descendant of The Great Serpent have been the main topic of his last 3 Limited SSRs, which is great because that means CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT~

Now unfortunately i cannot talk about Edmond's Intimacy Rooms as i'm missing ALL OF HIS SSRs (why do you hate me Edmond if ily) but from what i've seen he's also pretty happy being with Eiden, heck even HIS MOM is happy his son is with Eiden!

That's right, she's the first and only parent of the Clan Members that knows and approves of their relationship, if it weren't because most of them are orphan we could get many more... i wonder if Yakumo's grandparents are aware hmmm ... and we all know Olivine's parents are gonna HATE it xD and maybe Garu's wolf pack will approve of Eiden by the end of this event.

hi as a jjk fan, do you have any issues with the writing from gege? if so, what do you think are wasted potential in terms of characters, bonds. i think that there is lack of emotional impact or expansion fo characters sometimes. for instance animes like mha have alot of meaningful character arcs and backstories. It's a bit hard to express how I feel becuase jjk is an amazing story but i am just a bit disappointed of the wasted potential with female characters and like shoko and utahime. and the world building. yes i am fellow gojohime shipper ;).

I actually do have issues with Gege's writing, so I agree with you. JJK has an interesting premise with hidden lore & I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get into, or already into, anime/manga, but it could be so much better if Gege just cared enough (which I sometimes feel like he doesn't? It just feels like he wants to hurry up & finish it so he can start on his idol manga... 💀). He skips so much, it honestly feels like he's going off a checklist, especially in the latest arc.

Compared to other battle shounens, namely Naruto, Fairy Tail, MHA, & even Gintama, JJK is severely lacking in several areas. It's unfortunate because the premise & characters are full of potential.

I will go over some of the issues. A lot of these were obvious from the start but they've only gotten worse over time.

• The fast pacing (speed running at this point). It's battle after battle, no downtime, big arc right after big arc, etc. Us readers & the characters themselves barely have time to process things before he moves on to the next thing. He skips so many things, so much happens off-screen/off-panel (can't forget how he skipped Yaga's fight with Gakuganji that lead to his death, skipped Gojo's entire month after his unsealing then "kills" him off-panel a few chapters later, I could go on...)

• The lack of character emotions, development, backstories, etc. We barely know anything about the characters, like their hobbies & interests? (This is why I have a hard time making up headcanons & potentially writing a fic for our ship... How can I keep them in character when I barely know stuff about them? 😮‍💨). We barely see any of them training (training arcs/chapters are typical for battle shounens); the Tokyo students preparing for the Goodwill Event would have been a fitting time to showcase this, for example. There's little to no mourning shown for character deaths (like Yaga? Nanami? Mai? Mechamaru?).

Yuta has such a cool CT & we didn't get to see how he discovered it & all. Like, come on 😔. Also, it would've been nice to see the Goodwill Event from his first year when he beat the Kyoto students, especially Todo... (Gege simply tells us about it. Like he tends to do for a lot of things 🙄).

Gege could've done more build-up to Gojo's sealing in Shibuya by showing his upbringing & development from his arrogant teen self (tho already having shown hints of caring for others & not liking the higher-ups) to the sensei who loves his students & strives for a better Jujutsu society. His past arc should've been longer imo. Needed more slice of life & character interactions, bonding. Heck, Toji should've gotten his whole backstory there too before he died. More build-up to Gojo's "death" too, as Gege skipped that whole month after his unsealing 😒...

• While on the subject, the lack of character interactions, bonding. We haven't seen most characters interact with each other despite being in the same circles, vicinity. Tokyo & Kyoto students, GjHm with them, Gojo & his colleagues (esp more Uta), the Zenin clan (like, wish we could've seen how GjHm interacted with Naoya. Imagine the drama 😫), Gojo & his elusive clan, I could go on... Would've loved to see Gojo interact with Kashimo, Higuruma, Choso... 😮‍💨

As such, several have died & we never saw them interact with certain others nor even know much about them 😑... The emotional impact of character deaths & bonding would be higher if only Gege cared enough to flesh out his characters more... (At least the Phantom Parade mobile game is giving us some much-needed slice of life content. Wish Mappa would give us some OVA's like that too...)

• Lack of world building. Once again, so much we don't know, such as the clans, especially Gojo's. Apparently, they're still alive, yet we haven't seen them?

Are they not fighters, then? Nothing from them on their clan head's sealing/unsealing/"death". The Zenin Clan debuted & got killed off soon after. Other clans irrelevant. Jujutsu sorcery primarily exists in Japan so other than Miguel, goodbye to the potential of any foreign sorcerers making their appearance...

• Female cast. It's crazy how they were once praised for their potential but now... Now, all they've got is just your typical battle shounen treatment 😒. While Gege has shown he cares little for all his characters (lol), it does seem like the female characters have suffered a bit more from his writing. They've either died (like Mai off-screen? Yuki, the only female Special Grade, had one fight & died?), become powerless (Miwa, thru an off-screen Binding Vow revealed many chapters later? Seriously?), lack screentime (the Kyoto girls? Shoko, the only one who can use RCT on others & closest friend to Gojo?!), or simply haven't done a whole lot, especially compared to the male characters. For some or most, it's a mixture of all these 💀 (like Tsumiki).

Nobara is the main girl & yet her role ended about halfway thru the series. Can't believe Gege did that to her, despite her potential & competence to be the FL of a battle shounen (poor Yuuji still thinks of her. And we don't even know what Gojo thought about her demise? 😮‍💨). Maki seems to have it better, yet some could argue she's just Toji 2.0/female Toji. Unfortunately, I thought about Toji when she was fighting Sukuna; I was like, "If Sukuna's this impressed by her, imagine Toji with his higher experience?" I doubt that's what Gege would want us to think when Maki's shining (or does he? 🤨😒).

• Don't even get me started on Utahime. She's the main teacher of Kyoto, loved by all her students according to Gege, yet we don't get to see it? She's barely relevant? Imagine what she felt as her students kept on dying or becoming unable to fight. Thru her character, such as during her investigation of Kyoto for the traitor, we could've gotten some great insight into how things are over there? We don't even know what the Kyoto school looks like 💀.

Her scar has several implications & yet we don't know how she got it? How has she dealt with being a scarred woman in Jujutsu society, especially considering Momo's words about such a thing during the Goodwill Event? Utahime could be a great role model to the girls, especially Maki now, & yet... 😮‍💨 (I'm telling you, she should've been the main adult female of the series, just like Gojo's the main adult male)

She's one of Gojo's friends, has known him for 10+ years, & is one of his few most trusted allies, yet we haven't seen how they got to this point? Their comedic interactions make us wonder how they built that deep trust. I NEED to know what happened between them during the timeskip!!! 😫

Her CT buffs herself & others. Why has she not been a part of any on-screen fight prior to the Shinjuku Showdown? There were a couple instances where we almost saw her in action & yet... Why did Gege gatekeep her CT for so long? To showcase her CT for the first time for Gojo & Gojo ONLY. He's insane. They can't beat the package deal allegations. So, does this have any meaning? Can we hope for more-

• I sometimes wonder if JJK would be better as a seinen like I once heard he intended for it to be... There are definitely elements of that... How much darker could the story get, since sometimes Gege pushes the boundaries of Shounen Jump (I know he wants to, lol)... How much more fleshed out could it be if he was writing it the way he wanted to originally (supposedly he never intended for a school setting but was forced by his previous editor?)... Maybe we could even get a Tokyo Ghoul:re style chapter with GjHm during the timeskip if y'all know what I mean-

So, to sum up: JJK is interesting & I would recommend it, but there's a whole lot of wasted character potential, terrible pacing, & lack of interactions, development, & world building. There's so much we don't know & Gege wants to end it already? He's sitting on a gold mine & yet... 😑😒

No idea how things will end but I can at least hope for an open ending that leaves us with some hopeful possibilities... Uh, right?

anyway... i was actually thinking recently about why i prefer "subtextual" or "accidental" lgbt stories compared to explicitly "queer rep" stories when it comes to relationship and character writing... i said i was reading a lot of midcentury (20th) and earlier literature where, if lgbt identity is even brought up at all, its either maligned by the narrative or at least not central. and yet... i personally found the quality and depth of the same-sex relationships (implied/subtextual even tho) much more engaging than the modern queer lit (genre) books i was also reading alongside, which i found kinda unsatisfying and also sometimes really fucking annoying...and then i also think about how i was having a discussion w/ someone earlier re. the lady oscar readaption where many ppl were confused why the series is considered yuri when the lesbian relationship is at beast subcontextual, and then comparing it to modern yuri which is wholly engaged with lesbianism in a way which would not actually have been possible when lady oscar was first released. its like when a thing gets popular for being countercultural and spawns so much trope that it becomes the new culture so when people return to it later they cant see it for what it is.

now im not trying to say that i think these older stories are better "queer rep" than explicitly lgbt narratives, or even defending queerbaiting, this is simply a look at my own tastes... like i think a good example of this (even if not quite relating to what i was talking about earlier) is i was reading this contemporary novel about lesbians doing lesbian things and theyre explicitly lesbians and altho its not a romantic novel theres lesbian sex and lesbian relationships. but... i found the characters so distant and one-dimensional, i had difficulty actually imagining them interacting in a romantic way, or having a community. meanwhile, touhou project is not a lesbian story. nobody in touhou is a lesbian, except maybe on a subtextual level if you squint. yet... i havent been able to stop thinking about the homoerotic components of byakuren and miko's rivalry since i first played the games. i think part of it is the subtlety of it, youre given the freedom to construct a relationship from these little hints and leftover bits that you find as you learn the story. i also think that one of the issues with "queer lit" (genre) which is becoming better thankfully, is the fact that lgbt authors may feel very self-conscious that theyre writing for both younger lgbt people like themselves but also cishets and so they feel like they cant push the complexity of their characters too far incase they become "bad rep" by being too much of a real person. this is especially an issue with books with wlw or transfem narratives because of the "predatory" stereotypes associated with these demographics from bigots so characters from those communities are either portrayed as uwu soft meme entities that do nothing because giving them agency would make them too scary or (even worse) an "edgy" countercultural reaction to prev that never quite commits because once again too scared to write real people incase theyre "bad rep".

I know I originally said in a comment at some point about how annoying the Logan war got (think it was in that post asking why we all suddenly backed off) but now I just find your posts humoring it's like "THIS LITTLE GODDAMN PIECE OF SHIT-" and it's the most innocent picture of Logan.

Love seeing it nowadays (cuz it's funny), but you have a good point that he hasn't furthered the story yet but I feel like Red might change that soon. Hopefully. Also how we haven't had his backstory but that also might change too (we've got a hint in one episode where they fought his bullies, something about how his parents didn't want him and he fact that we've only seen his grandparents but not his actual parents says something....)

I’ll assess them in order of: ashlyn, aiden, taylor, tyler, ben (not by order of how much I like them or anything btw). Some sections are longer than others because I’m bias BUT ALSO BECAUSE I got tired of typing and realized there was wayyy tm to read. Sorry!!!! if you don’t wanna read all this I put a short summary all the way on the bottom + feel free to me ask me specific questions ! now let me talk your ear off

ASHLYN:

I really like ashlyn because she has the most potential out of everyone (and that’s not to say the other characters aren’t deep, because that’s the opposite of true but bae is the whole reason we’re here). I think she’s also really relatable in the sense that she doesn’t like interacting with people but she can easily take the leadership role when needed. like okay queen I see you. also I really enjoy the fact Red made her dislike aiden at first even though they have a side romance plot going rn. bc that’s how it would’ve been if they were real. ash would not just become chatty out of no where and fall head over heels for him. and I really appreciate the slowburn. Ashlyn’s also higher on my favorites list because I’m bias and we have the same hair length 😣 usually when characters have long hair, authors tend to let their hair flow a lot, but red put ts in braids 🙏 and ask anyone with long hair like that, their hair is up 99% of the time bc it’s annoying, hot, and (personally) GRABS ONTO EVERYTHING LIKE ITS A THIRD HAND. I have a lot of headcannons for ash just based on small character designs / aspects that not a lot of people really think about. She’s so interesting and I really just love her. And since I have positives, I’ll give one negative about her. In the beginning, Ashlyn was really hesitant to tell the group anything. I understand where she was coming from, and given Tyler’s reaction, I don’t blame her for keeping things to herself. But mannnn ts was so frustrating sometimes. it’s ok tho bc all good stories stress you out.

AIDEN:

omg guys it’s my favorite ever. I know aidens really popular already so I’ll try not to rant on about him forever but hes just the best 😣 but mans really does not gaf EVERR.

now I could rant on and on about how silly Aiden is and why he’s so misunderstood as a character, because he’s not crazy like at all and if anything he’s one of the smartest characters in sbg, but I’ll save if for a better time. Instead I wanna talk about how observant he is of Ben and ashlyn.

it’s cropping weridly, sorry. but aiden’s eyes are always watching the ones he cares about most. I feel like this has to do with the fact Ben cannot voice his concerns/opinions so aiden always has to glance at him to make sure he’s not missing any important signal. But I also think it has to do with his childhood (I don’t have fast pass or anything this is just based off of theories/analysis based on his character bc I do that a lot 🤒). Anyways, he has a specific way of comforting people that I think it’s rlly niche. He uses his hands and gets the person what he thinks they need. Like in the attached images he gets ashlyn fabric to squeeze and distracts her with light conversation, and he immediately offers to take a walk with Ben and get some fresh air. If a person refuses or asks him for space, he immediately obeys and doesn’t question their decision. He’s very trusting and understanding. He gives people room to make mistakes and gives them room to ask for help. I’m mainly bringing this up because it ties back to something I’m gonna talk about in Taylor’s section. I just think that this detail is so important to his character and we always brush over it. I don’t wanna say he doesn’t like physical touch, bc he’s always touching everything around him, but I like to think his main love language is acts of service. When you really look at it, his actions speak a lot louder than his bickering and it really helps display how much each character means to him individually. what elseee. He’s able to quickly adjust and assess situations (like when he attacked the phantom or pulled up ashlyn in the bus). He’s very quick to his feet and always needs to be interacting with something to keep his hands busy. Aiden just really don’t gaf 99% of the time (unless it’s Ben / ashlyn) and honestly that’s why I like him. He doesn’t take anything seriously or personally. clap it up for my hb. Also I notice the sbg fandom has a habit of doing it with everyone, but I feel like Aiden is always reduced to his impulsive behaviors and ‘crazy kid’ persona. please guys. look deeper into Aiden Clark. Instead of wasting your energy trying to defend a NERDY FREAK like Logan fields, you should study more on Aiden Clark and his complex character.

TAYLOR:

okay now let me talk about my shnukums Taylor. I love her a lot but her and Tyler had very different childhoods regardless of the fact they were in the same situation.

We don’t know a lot about Taylor’s version of growing up, so a lot of the details are vague but everything I say is based off of observations and analyses I have personally made, so please take everything I say about Taylor’s backstory with a grain of salt and understand that no matter what, both twins were majorly affected by the passing of their father and illness of their mother.

At first i thought of Taylor was the more lucky one out of Tyler and Taylor when it came to their childhood. Yes she struggled, I knew that, but Tyler was under a lot of stress. But that’s when I realized that she suffered just as much. Although she didn’t need to sacrifice herself to help her family survive, like Tyler did, she went though the most loss. She lost her mother, father, and brother all overnight. One second they were all happy together and the next she was all alone. Physically, her mother and brother were still there, but they were both shells. Her mother isolated by grief and her brother isolated by responsibility. She was all alone. Yes Tyler did his best to support her, but at the end of the day, there wasn’t much he could do to change the situation. Taylor suffered a lot, and since people mostly focus on Tyler, we never really see Taylor’s POV of it all.

Now her backstory leads me into the fact Taylor is the most socially smart character in sbg. She is also the most observant and supportive. This is not to say others aren’t observant/supportive, like Aiden for an example, but she does it much differently. I would attach a picture here but I’m close to maxing out the photo limit and I want to save it for later.

Taylor is very good at reading the emotions of other characters. She is also very observant. Taylor is often the first to notice when a charater is uncomfortable, panicked, or harmed. For an example, she’s the first to notice Ashlyn’s fear back at the house. Unlike Aiden, Taylor is able to verbally let people know she is there for them. She comforts them through words and physical affection. Taylor is usually aware of how much support someone is in need of and the best way to display it for them specifically. For an example when Logan was getting bullied, she defended him against Tyler’s mean words and held his shoulder for reassurance. This same tactic would not work for ashlyn, and Taylor is aware of that. So, when ashlyn broke down about the struggles of being leader, Taylor comforted her through words and reassured her fears. Taylor opened up a space for ashlyn to be scared and share her burden. She was able to do all of this in only a couple of moments. This skills also becomes a werid quirk when she is able to sense Tyler’s condition in the hospital, but maybe that was just twin senses? 🤷‍♀️ idk

Taylor is also very aware of everyone around her. We know that she is very social and has a lot of friends and connections, but she also educates herself on the people she doesn’t interact with. Even if she doesn’t know a lot, she makes sure to acknowledge their presence at the very least.

What does her ability to read emotion have to do with her childhood? Well, Taylor basically lived with a shell of a family. Tyler was under constant stress, which made him prone to outbursts. Her mother was disabled by grief. Taylor was in a situation that made her feel like she had to take care of her family mentally. It was, to her, the least she could do. So, she was mentally mature from a very young age. Although having to hold the burdens of others constantly is very unhealthy, I’m not sure if she’ll crack because of it.

Taylor being very social and having a lot of friends is also another example of how she’s different from Tyler and how their shared childhood affected them differently. Tyler saw people as distractions while Taylor sees them as her means to keep living. Taylor lives off of other peoples energy, and she maintains the energy of other people by being a supportive beam for them. This is also why I’m okay with Taylor being shipped with others. She’s use to being around people and can form close bonds with others while still only viewing them as friends. Tyler cannot do the same. Taylor is in a position where she can expand her horizons into romantic relations if she was interested in doing so. That’s why I feel as though it’s okay (if that doesn’t make sense I’ll explain it again, but I tried to condense it down)

Something I don’t like about Taylor is that we haven’t gotten to see her brain in action yet. We know she’s the president of the robotics club , but we haven’t had the chance to see her charater support the story in any other way but socially and mentally. The story is only at 60 episodes though, and I’m sure we will see it eventually. Im just impatient and want to see women in STEM shine 😣😣 I wish I could talk about her more, but we barely know anything about Taylor as of right now. I will say it’s interesting how she told her and Tyler’s backstory, but only talked about how Tyler was affected and not herself. Interesting… I hope we learn more about her experiences and I hope I’m right 🙏 also CAN WE TAKE A MOMENT TO APPRECIATE HOW PRETTY SHE IS??? UGHH I LOVE HER SMM

TYLER:

I feel like Tyler has been the topic of discussion for the past couple of months because his backstory was revealed and the end of S1 / beginning of S2 was all about him and his past, so I don’t have a lot to say that I haven’t already said. but I do really like Tyler. At first when he was in his jock era I was very , oh! about him. but he’s actually warmed up to me sooooo much since then. he’s so goofy I just want more interactions between him and Aiden. I think I good place to start is how much I HATE people shipping him with other members of the main cast. I talked about it a little in Taylor’s section, but him and Taylor had very different childhoods. Again, I’m not saying their father’s death and mother’s illness was not hard on the both of them, but Tyler was under a lot of pressure too. We know he isolated himself harshly, and stopped having fun all together. The way I look at it, everything, including living day-to-day, became a chore for Tyler. Ever since he was a little kid. His dad’s death changed his entire world overnight. He had to learn how to physically and mentally support everyone important to him, because if he couldn’t no one else would. Tyler had to learn everything about living life by himself as a baby just so everyone else could survive. He stopped having fun. Little kids find fun in everything. Tyler stopped himself from finding it. He didn’t do anything for himself anymore. He was almost like a empty shell doing automatic tasks so that his sister and mother could have space to grow, heal, and live. In a sense, it was self sacrifice (which he attempts again when he tells the group to leave him behind)

So when Taylor tells us that the main cast started to become an extension of the family he sacrificed himself for, it’s so heavy on his character. Especially because for once in a long time he started relating his ‘family’ back to joy and fun, not just safety and survival. That’s why it bothers me when people ship him with others. It’s so werid to imply he’d date any of the main cast when he sees them as his family. consider them blood-siblings if you gotta, but just stop shipping them. PLEAASSSSEEEEEEEEEEE. otherwise I’ll eat your dog. thanks! also him being friends with the main cast at all is such a huge step for him. I don’t think Tyler has time to get involved with romantic relationships when he believes friends are a distraction. I know a lot of people go to romance when they want to express how strong a connection is between two characters, but you guys are forgetting that Tyler considering everyone as his friends is sooooo much more complex and deep compared to (for an example) Logan saying he considers everyone his friend. ANYWAYS ENOUGHHH!!! let’s move on.

I also wanna talk about this scene (I was to lazy to go find the original scene so the flashback is all you get). I never really realized how much ashlyn ordering Tyler around must’ve affected him. He literally spent his whole life making decisions and taking leadership and all of a sudden some random lil girl is over here telling him to stfu and sit his ass down. I would imagine as mad as he was, he probably felt a least a bit of relief. For once the responsibility wasn’t on him, at least not only on him. He could share his burden with others, and he wasn’t suffocated by being responsible for the lives of everyone else. We see this same struggle affect ashlyn, as she feels like being leader strangles her with the weight of guilt, paranoia, and responsibility. Imagine if Tyler had been the one to bare that weight after everything he’s already been through? he would’ve cracked, whether we like it or not. so let’s clap it up for ashlyn rq!!! yasss girl 😋 I know I’m rambling a lot about tyler but I know a lot about him and want to talkkk 😣 but here is my last point: Tyler’s coping mechanism to the unknown and things that confuse him is denial. Just like his mother 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

woww! do you guys remember when Tyler thought this whole thing was a joke? me too! he would’ve never thought this silly prank would almost kill him. Tyler’s mom probably thought her husband’s illness wouldn’t kill him either. oops! 😂 (I’m going kms). sorry. my point is they both refused to believe it happened (although his mom’s denial may have been more of a trauma response while his was just to help him cope). Even with evidence, they both couldn’t understand what had happened to them and pretending nothing was wrong. Tyler saw the picture of the phantom’s shadow and brushed it off to technology he couldn’t understand yet. he felt more comfortable with not knowing how technology worked rather than not knowing if he was in danger. his mother is similar. She couldn’t understand and cope with the death of her husband, even though he died in front of her. She felt more comfortable not understanding why he was late from work than understanding he was dead and gone. Guess it runs in the family? 🤷‍♀️ and since these are all things I like about his character, I will tell you what I don’t like. THAT STUPID ASS JOCK ATTUIDE FROM S1. okay I didn’t hate it, and it fit him sometimes, and I kinda miss it sometimes, but he’s like 5’5 and a stick, he is not beating no one’s ass 😭 respectfully. now he could probably rock me but he’s matured a bit since S1 so it’s different. Tyler’s not even my favorite idk why I talked about him sm , especially when I held off on talking about Aiden because I didn’t want to say to much 🤦‍♀️ whatever

BEN:

I have a lot to say about Benny boy, especially because he is SOOOOOO mischaraterized. Now I won’t go crazy like I did for the twins because I’m thinking about making a separate post just about Ben (maybe.. maybe not idk). plus I just reminded myself anon asked me to just say a few things I like and disliked about each charater not give crazy long paragraph about them. so, sorry Ben but you will probably have the most boring paragraph of them all. I still love you a lot pookie 🙏 I’m just tired AND MAXED OUT THE AMOUNT OF PICS I CAN USE EVEN THO I NEED TO TALK ABOUT U WHILE USING PICS 🤒 anyways enough rambling.

bens charater is often reduced to his backstory which genuinely makes me want to start tweaking out. if you expand on why his trauma affects him, then I will happily listen to you talk. But when most the fandom sees Ben as “music boy who hate bully, will fight you if you be mean” it makes me so SAAAADDDDD. no, Ben will NOT beat my ass for making fun of Logan. That’s like… the whole point of his backstory? He doesn’t like violence, at all. He’s ashamed of his anger issues. He blames himself for having to move and putting his family in danger. The only reason he got involved with Logan’s fight was because the phantom interference + no one was there to help calm him down.

also he doesn’t only do music. he draws too! he’s a very artistic dude. He also gardens. Ben be planting food and shit. which (as much as I HATE the ship) Logan n Ben shippers could probably use to their advantage. Yk bc Ben gardens and Logan helps his grandparents in their greenhouse? wtv. Bens prob growing flowers for Taylor anyways. Fuck Logan. sorry.

Ben is also very compassionate and gentle. He’s always thinking about what’s best for the group, even if it puts him in an uncomfortable position, like sharing his trauma. Ben is also very soft hearted. He gets flustered very easily, we see this when ashlyn and Taylor complimented him. He is very protective over those he cares about and he does not come to play, ever. Also his character development from S1 makes me so happy. He use to be attached to Aiden’s hip 24/7 and we could often only understand his emotions when Aiden would translate him to us. But we’ve seen lately that he’s much closer to Taylor, even putting her safety before his own.

More thoughts on Torquemada (aka Here’s How We Could Have Had It All)

I feel like I recall seeing some interview at one point where Fontana admitted that he didn’t have much of Oz thought out beyond s1 and a bit of s2, and for sure the later seasons get wacky but there’s still Something there with most of the little bits that end up in the show, imo. It’s mostly the execution that leaves something to be desired, like Fontana and the other writers (I'm not sure to what degree who writes what) didn't really have time to think out the story beats of the seasons or else didn't have time to come up with something better/do some editing. I said a while back (idr where/what post tho), but I think if Alonzo had been brought in earlier, a lot of the same s6 plotlines could have still been achieved while giving us more time to know him and make his appearance worthwhile. Like, first couple episodes after he’s introduced could’ve just been those in-betweener scenes where we see him settling into Oz and putting out feelers:

Interacting with the other Gays (more screen time for them at last??) and getting the lowdown on Oz; I have my other headcanon (based on the crowd scenes) that the Gays sometimes help the Latinos move tits, so maybe…

This would bring him toe to toe with Morales or at least have a chance to with him briefly while the former is on his way out; maybe Torquemada wants to bring his own expertise to the game and tries to talk business to Morales, who’s got other things on his mind and blows Alonzo off, or else puts Alonzo to task with finding out what’s going on with Redding, etc. I think Alonzo could handle himself here, as Redding is no threat at this point, but maybe the real question is whether or not he wants to try to conform and fit in under Morales’ control, which I think the answer would be no, meaning...

Seeing Alonzo ultimately decide to forge his own path to the top and take his sweet deal with Destiny to the Italians

Miguel’s + the other Latinos’ storylines could’ve been largely unchanged meanwhile. Obviously some shit from s6 would have to be sacrificed to accommodate expanding Torquemada's storyline but lbr, s6 had a lot of going-nowhere plotlines as well as storylines that couldve afforded to be much shorter, so there’s honestly plenty of fat to choose from when it comes to what to cut. And introducing Alonzo like this would’ve helped bring the Italians more into play in s6 (could've simultaneously explored a little bit of the post-Schibetta world of the Italians, or at least shown more fall out), as well as the gays. Canonically Alonzo comes in episode 7, and what I’m thinking is basically to bring him in on episode 3 or 4 (right after Said dies) (get rid of the ridiculous Idzik shit). With the 1 hour episodes, that would be plenty of time to start showing his rise to power. He could occasionally cross paths with other characters and get on their radar while creating small moments to plant the payoff of the canon e7 & e8.

I just feel like the pieces would fall into place in a much more satisfying way if we saw earlier on how Torquemada was quietly moving things in his own direction and being either underestimated or ignored due to characters being wrapped up in their own stories. He’d have been there the ~whole times~ and the show could’ve ended with his move to the top feeling more earned, with a little bit more of his potential as a kingpin explored and hinted at with the season finale. Again, it would also have been a good opportunity to explore the Gays in Oz and see how they fit in. Like I mentioned in my tags of the other post, I do think Torquemada would throw some of them under the bus/not care what happens to them once he gets his lmao.

(A s7/new post-canon tale of a subsequent downfall for Alonzo might concern itself mostly with hubris; burnt bridges and capricious impulses might leave no one in his corner if he did lose his footing and start to stumble… I think also him being queer and not just a ~fucker of men~ like Adebisi would motivate his enemies to unite to take him down more so than if he were anybody else.)

Another story: the people!

Warning: Some of the characters have no reference sheet because I forgot to draw it (I'll work on it as soon as I can). the relationships could get updated if they interact with characters from other people or characters I may create in the future :3

Maddy

Description: she's one of a stubborn girl. If she wants something, she'll find a way to have it. She's the kind of person that first acts and then asks. sometimes (not too often and only between friends) she can get a little chaothic and silly. In contrast to this strong-willed attitude of hers, there's the fact that she has a slight sort of anxiety. Maddy has hard times interacting with new people out of the blue, and even if she can deal with them almost smoothly she could often feel really nervous and speak in a more "aggressive" way (see how she dealt with her first meeting with the others :D). She's a big fan of cuddles (she'll never admit it or ask for it tho) and sleeping (she's a cat after all). She always knows how her friends are feeling, no matter how good they are to hide it. Her body, which is made of wool, can stand a lot of physical stress (by this i mean putting her under a press, twisting her, etc) without getting broken. In combat she will mainly use her staff and magic attacks. to make her use the halberd you really need to make her hate you so much she can't stand your existence, and it won't be a first-sight thing. Don't hurt her friends. Never.

Relationships: Muffet: the two of them are besties. Despite the rough start, Maddy ended up really enjoying her company and that sort of weird way she has to talk to people sometimes. Grillby: Maddy really cares for him, even if he doesn't remember the time spent together. she sometimes comes visit him in his timeline, and ended up building again a nice friendship with him. Sam: She absolutely hates their guts. the only reason why they're still alive is Raehel's extreme patience and forgiveness. Flowey: She and the flower are nice friends. they have a similar vibe, and they share similar stories. Sometimes you could see them as partners in crime, but they're not really a pair of prankster or anything. Smiling man: Maddy's feelings towards both of his sides are really neutral. She knows he exists, she stands his presence, but that's it. she finds Seam a bit of an eexggerated and Gaster a bit of a wimp. Raehel: she's a little scary, but for the rest she's a really nice lady. Maddy respects her greatly, but with a little bit of fear (more or less in the same way Susie respects Toriel in Deltarune :D) and has a thing for her snail pie. Other: She has a solid relationship with Ezra, Grillby's brother, as she often chats with him when she goes visiting Grillby. She loves hanging out with The human Children, as they have all the cuteness of any child but they don't mistreat her poor tail.

Notes from the author: She's the last character I elaborated, but I think she became my favourite dude out of all. Originally I drew her palette based only on the standard Mad Mew Mew dress, but then took out her dark dress and messed around with the two of them. I like to think she's a big fan of Epictale Mad Mew Mew 'cause she's herself but badass.

Muffet

Description: she's a friendly girl with a bit of an attitude, a slight british accent and one of an unsettling glare. by being the head of her spider clan for over 40 years she knows how to bend people at her will, with the good ones or the bad ones. She likes to have a certain stability in her life, that being a regular routine and a place to come back to at the end of the day. she can easily strike a conversation with anyone, without being too overwhelming or annoying. sometimes, out of old bad habits, she has a weird way to cheer up and encourage people. she kinda threatens them while speaking, using a quiet and sweet tone of voice with a hint of something unsettling. you could be trying to find a way to propose to someone and she could come to you and say "C'mon dear, you can do this! and if you can't, I can always turn them into a muffin~". she likes baking, as many other Muffets, but she also enjoys making dreamcatchers and sewing. She can shapeshift into a normal looking spider, but she doesn't do that as she thinks she looks fat in that form. Instead, she often shapeshifts only her arms. to stab people.

Relationships: Maddy: Muffet is really close to her. the two of them sometimes go shopping together, often stopping by a nice clothing shop (they both like fancy stuff). she kinda admires how Maddy can go trough bad stuff more easily than her. Grillby: Muffet misses him. Maddy convinced her to come and visit him a few times, but seeing him feels bittersweet. Muffet doesn't see him as the fire man she knew, as not only he doesn't remember her but he also is a bit different. Muffet would like to accept the new Grillby as easily as Maddy did, but she's having a hard time doing so. Sam: She despise them. Muffet never fully understood what was going trough the human's mind, and the fact that they convinced her to kill people that easily made her more wary of humans in general. if she already wasn't a fan of humans, now she really has hard times trusting them. Flowey: The two of them get along. sometimes. Often Flowey is too chatty and insolent for our spider. they get along mainly when there are others around, but it doesn't mean they can't start discussing in such situations. Smiling man: there are some mixed feelings regarding this person. She doesn't mind Gaster as he never really tried to do anything wrong against anyone, but he also is the idiot that left Sam free when they first got warned by Raehel. Seam, by the other hand, sounds more firm but is also less trustworthy. Raehel: She and Muffet have a stable friendship, often hanging out in the kitchen or with the children. The only thing Muffet would criticize about her is her are her overprotective mom's instincts... Other: She sometimes enjoys chatting with Fresh, both being extremely chatty dudes. She sometimes visits her siblings, who are the only ones to know what happened her in the whole timeline.

Notes from the author: As i've always been a super-duper fan of Muffet, this gal was the one I elaborated first. The first time she was supposed to be a survivor from a Littletale genocidal run (I don't even know if that exists) that Sam adopted and grew up as a daughter and then decided to use to kill not Sanses, but popular characters in general. I even had a sketch of her going against the Bad time trio. On another try she was from Undertale and had a sister called Tuffet (truly an original name) who died on a genocide run (I had a thing for murdersprees) and Sam promised Muffet to bring her back if she did what they told her. There was a try somewhere where she teamed up with Error to kill Sam for a reason I honestly don't remember.

Grillby

Description: he's a quiet guy with an unreadable expression. He always looks the same (which is pretty much of a neutral expression) and his eyes are perfectly hidden behind a pair of thick lenses. without the glasses, he's almost blind. He doesn't mind speaking with people if asked, but he will rarely try to start a conversation. despite this almost cold facade (unintended pun), he's a caring guy who likes to see people happy and well. He has the habit of searching for every outcome to every situation, trying to go for the best one. this is sometimes a bit of a bad thing as he often ends up looking at the many negative possibilities and almost ignoring all the positive ones. He can sometimes be a little pessimistic, but all he's trying to do is to keep safe the ones he cares for. Grillby isn't the best fighter: his attacks are weak and limited. he though is one of a great defender, and you can be sure that as far as he has someone or something to defend, you WON'T go past his walls in ANY way. If you try, you'll probably get incinerated. After the events of "Another story", our fire friend got practically resetted and has no memory of what happened back then or who are the people that come to his and his brother's place.

Relationships: Muffet: A quiet lady. comes rarely, and always with Maddy. she looks like a toughtful lady. maybe a little sad. One day he should try talk to her. Maddy: An interesting girl. An almost regular costumer, comes twice or thrice a month. who knows where she's from. Grillby enjoys her strong attitude and doesn't mind conversating with her. Ezra: His one and only brother. He cares for him like nothing else in the world. They are almost always together, either in the restaurant or outside. Sam: A person. Grillby saw them only once, and they seemed a pretty normal guy. he though won't forget that feeling of nostalgia he had when he saw them. Flowey: One of Maddy's friends. he tags along sometimes, more frequently than Muffet. almost as chatty as Maddy, not as friendly as her but not annoying. he sometimes looks at Grillby with some sort of... hate? superiority? sorrow? something like that. he though always hides it as Maddy comes in. Smiling man: Two interesting men. they seem like brothers. Gaster is more of a emphathetic person, while Seam seems more cold. for some reason tho, he ended up speaking more with Seam than with Gaster. they don't come often, once every few months, and (curiously) it's always only one of them per time. Raehel: Maddy spoke about her a few times, but Grillby never met her in person. She sounds like a nice lady. Other: the usual relationships Undertale Grillby has with the other characters.

Notes from the author: I thought about making him shorter than the standard. Just for fun. But at that point he started to become too cute, and I wanted him to stay more one the "cool" side. second guy I elaborated of the trio, in a timeline he was Muffet's brother and in another he was a guy Sam tried to use to kill sanses. and in this last timeline he was supposed to be from Fellswap Gold and be a professional shooter.

Raehel

Description: An old lady who lives away from everyone in the farthest corner of the multiverse. she has eight loving children, seven humans and a flower. She's kind and patient, the loving mother everyone would like to have. She has some sort of aura, that feeling of wisdom and ancient coming from her. She knows how to make herself be respected without the need to be violent (she is a mother, after all). She has a thing for gardening since cooking slowly became almost a waste of materials (this almost godlike form doesn't need to sleep or eat), and after the events of "Another story" she started travelling more often out of curiosity. the Multiverse has changed since the last time she saw it... The books of her bookshelves aren't the only books she reads, as she sometimes visits other worlds' libraries (nobody knows when you'll find the ultimate butterscotch-cinnamon pie recipe...). Despite the fact that she may look just a sweet and patient old lady, Raehel is capable to stand against almost everyone in battle (even if she tries to avoid fights). Remember that our goat lady is everyone's mom friend. yeah, even yours. She doesn't know you? it doesn't matter.

Relationships: Muffet: The two monsters get along easily, and Raehel tends to care a lot for her health as she always looks a little too thoughtful. There are times where she starts discussing with Asriel, but the old lady can clearly see they don't hate each other. Maddy: Truly a lovely little lady. She is polite, strong and friendly. one of the few people outside the family that gets along with Asriel. Sam: Raehel has a lot of patience for everyone, but Sam is one of a kind. Flowey: her first child. a little irrespectful from time to time, but it's something acceptable in a certain limit for someone of his age. Smiling man: She is slowly forgiving them. very slowly. the two left Sam use some innocent souls to murder hundreds, mistreat her child, and almost bring the multiverse to an end. Seam thinks he knows everything and Gaster has no strenght to say no to his child. This is not acceptable in a parent. Grillby: that poor creature. he got trough so much, only to forget about his few friends and be sent back to their small reality. at least now they look happy. Fresh: Fresh is a dear family friend. he has a very bright personality despite his lack of real feelings, and this is something Raehel respects. He often visits to chat, and sometimes brings guests. sadly, the latter aren't always really nice, and they are never there to simply conversate. Other: Raehel deeply loves all of her children and has the natural tendency to care for everyone.

Notes from the author: She is a character I first thought for another project I ended up scraping and then ripping apart to stick pieces of it all over "Another Story" and other things I'll post one day maybe. When TATATALE's Hopes and Dreams event came out I absolutely wanted her to partecipate, but I introduced her too late... TwT

Flowey

Description: surely one of a stubborn, chatty flower. He has the bad habit to act as a know-it-all, thing that comes from when he still could reset and mess aroud in his timeline. He's a strong willed dude that knows too well how to read someone's expression and body language. he thinks a little too high of himself, seeing a lot of normal people as idiots. If you're able to get trough his shell of criticism against everyone and everything, he can become your best friend (in the real way). he'll support you in all your plans (not without some constructive criticism, of course) and he'll make sure nobody hurts you if you can't stand by yourself. He doesn't handle very good pblic demonstrations of affection (hug him in a crowd and he'll get all grumpy and go "the hell man" but will probably blush cutely UwU). he's real good at fighting, mainly using small seeds like bullets (the "friendliness pellets") and some dangerously spiky vines to cause as much damage as he can in the shortest amount of time. and remember! DO NOT. TOUCH. HIS SIBLINGS.

Relationships: Muffet: he says he hates her. She's stubborn, annoying, weak, and yet she's one of a smartass and most of the times she's right about what she says. the times the two of them speak there isn't much friendliness. despite all this, Muffet is allowed to get near his family. Maddy: They're practically partners in crime. She passed the check almost immediately, and even if Flowey will never admit it he really enjoys spending time with her. Sam: no comment because if comment then bad comment. Grillby: Flowey never met him before he lost the memory of the multiverse. Maddy said he was a bit of a depressed, pessimistic dude, but that now he looks way happier. In Flowey's opinion, he's too silent. Smiling man: Flowey doesn't hate the two of them, but they surely doesn't like them either. there isn't much that can be said for them. Raehel: His dear mother. he acts as an edgy teen sometimes, but he deeply cares for her. her cinnamon-butterscotch pie is the best. The Children: his beloved siblings. loves all of them, and no one will ever dare hurting them. Other: he has a particular hate towards Fresh.

Notes from the author: I wanna eat his face. he's a grumpy babyboi. skrunky lil' flower. a little cute pie. also (and I'm gonna eliminate this when I make his reference sheet) he's 52 cm and not 32.

Smiling man

Description: Smiling man is the general term for the two entities that live in the same body, one being Seam and the other being Gaster. the two both enjoy leaning new things, being curious about everything. they are patient and usually friendly, even if Seam surely is less friendly than Gaster. [You can find their story HERE]. - Seam: he is the rational side. the logical one, the one that created the CORE and that knew Sam was dangerous. he is more distant, more formal, more "elegant". he doesn't really care about others, but still will try to not sound like a jerk. - Gaster: he is the emotional side. the empathetic one, the one that cared deeply for the young human and that built a family for himself (only to see it forget about him). he is more friendly, more warm, more caring. he tries to make everyone happy, but is too scared to make the wrong thing to take serious decisions.

Relationships: Muffet: they think she has a lot of talent. she could be a really strong fighter, maybe even at the level of some multiverse travellers. she just doesn't realize it. or doesn't want to. Maddy: a particularly determined girl. Seam likes how stubborn and straightfoward she can be. Sam: It's almost considered their child. both Seam and Gaster treat him as such, one being more serious and strict while the other being more soft and loving. Flowey: they respect each other. Gaster cares for him, as he feels guilty for what he went trough because of Sam.

Grillby: the two find him a really good listener. Seam likes how he's able to do anything for his friends and family. Raehel: Their relationship is getting better. She's a little scary, to be honest, but they're learning to get along. Other: Jevil is their best friend since always. he sometimes comes by and visits the two, and they play Uno all together and chat about literally anything.

Notes from the author: I wanted Sam to have a guide of sort. Initially we had our friendly Template, but then I elaborated new plans for the human and decided to give them a father figure.

Sam

Description: the human. They are quite extroverted and friendly, as long as they want you to like them. he can be a little forgetful and clumsy at times, but only for things that aren't really important. They have the tendency to not care really about people and things as they are nothing but mere puppets in the hands of the creators. They are also very, very good at hiding it. They always try to not be too visible, not too noticeable, as neutral as they can. there is not much that can be said about them.

Relationships: the trio: they treat the three all in the same way and doesn't really care about them. they just don't wanna deal with the three anymore and will move on. Flowey: same for the trio. the only difference is that they don't trust Flowey. he knows way more than the trio. Smiling man: their father figure. they'll never admit they care for the two a little bit. Raehel: ... scary. Other: Fresh is annoying. Jevil is always tagging along with them and they honestly don't mind him.

Notes from the author: They originally were supposed to be called Someone. yeah. truly an original name. they also were supposed to be an entity outside the worlds, something like a player, with the powers of a creator and stuff, just having fun messing around. the human form was like a default skin, and he could turn into practically anything (his default monster appearance was an almost human-sized crow). despite being my second older character for this whole mess, i have no idea of how to describe them. it is all in my head, so intricated and cool, but it's pretty hard to put it into words.

Games

High on life- not funny, not novel, pretty boring, enjoyable enough to finish once you get around the end but was about so close to dropping it a few hours in.

I don’t know if it makes sense but instead of being subversive it’s superficially subversive. It’s like “look at us we’re doing stuff differently” (this might be a direct quote) for all of like 2 seconds before going back to being the blandest shit I ever played. The 2 seconds aren’t even cool.

Tunic- deserves a game award, made me pull out sticky notes to decipher secrets. But it’s a wonderful game even if you don’t engage with the secrets (but they are amazing and you should). Talked several peoples ear off about it and will maybe do it again. I don’t know if I can add any praise that hasn’t been said before me. This game rocks.

Road 96- I saw a review calling it “it’s as if a taletell game didn’t want to waste your time” and honestly (as a taletell games fan) I see what they mean.

It’s fun, it’s intriguing, having to find a new way to escape each chapter, interacting with the characters and discovering the story that is happening around you- all were interesting.

I liked how locations felt very open sometimes. Some scenes are basically cutscenes where you have very little choice. While other are more open location where you can explore backrooms and get rewarded with resources for your journey.

As a game who prides itself on being on being procedurally generated you’d think it would lend itself for replayability but second time around I was bored going through mostly same scenes as my first playthough. Even with the selecting different options they would mostly got he same way, made me wish there was more option I could do sometimes but it’s a game and can’t let me do everything ever so I don’t blame them for that.

If found- a queer story wonderfully told with an interesting mechanic, beautiful art style and music. I am the target audience for this and I enjoyed it lots.

Story hit me hard, the eraser mechanic surprisingly kept me focused while being just like wonderful way to keep the story moving, especially with how it was used to transition certain scenes.

The credits song slaps hard.

And the Ireland trivia is very cool actually.

Hi Fi rush- for the lack of a better term, it’s so fucking cringe. The most uninspired story and cast, every cliche and trope ever rolled around into one painful story. They try to use like jokes that make no sense and then they are like “isn’t it funny that it doesn’t make sense” - no it’s not

It’s as if they wanted to recreate the feel of Deadpool 2013 game only the main character is the most main insufferable anime boy character also the year is 2023 and nobody told the writers.

They had one good joke and it’s in the trailer and it’s about the writers of the game and not a ingame thing. The trailer starts with *freezeframe* “you gotta be wondering how I got myself here” and it kept going about the same level of humor.

Game mechanics wise it’s actually interesting and even fun! Chaining combos to the rhythm of a beat is actually cool (even if I kinda suck at it). I wish it was in a different game tho. Why can I guess every characters whole deal without hearing them. Why is there a character who’s just a jojo reference and the reference is look he does poses and got Japanese letter floating around? Why is the only time that I felt joy about the story in game is when the main character got hit so he shut the fuck up. At least the naming conventions of chracters is fun. If I could play this game on mute just so I didn’t need to hear the story I would but it’s a rhythm game so :/

Movies

Puss in boots- slaps, watch it

Predestination- it was a rewatch and honestly it’s not only fun cause you can see all the hints and joke they drop early before you know the twist that would go over your head. But it’s also fun since I watched it with a bunch of people who never watched it before and seeing them trying to guess what’s going on and then figure it out in real time was a blast. Span off my favorite in joke of the day with that group.

Akira- I can see why it’s a certified classic. I don’t know why there is a man having a asthma attack as a leitmotif in the soundtrack but it slaps.

Disclosure- been told by my friend I should watch it, I watched it, I would have watched it earlier, you should watch it.

Shows

Mob psycho s1- I’m rewatching it (watched season 1 and 2 and want to remember all before I go into season 3) as a watch party with friends and I’m having a blast. Missed my boy my son.

The last of us- so far- I could talk how it reignited my love for it, and how I forgot how cool is the specific way they made zombies, and how much I missed all the creature design. But episode 3 just came out and I’m weak. Good adaptation I was skeptical before it came out (I mean a video game adaptation,, you know how it usually goes down) and also didn’t get why does it need to exist. However good show so far love it love it love it.

Md dream who keeps visiting the bakery, but only when he knows wilbur is not there. Everytime he walks by and sees wilbur walking away or not in the store itself. So the absolute terror he feels when instead of the large guy with the pink mohawk, there is wilbur at the register of the gas station he goes to normally. At first, he wanted to run away before wilbur noticed , but he only noticed wilbur cause the other called other towards him. "Yo! You're the guy from the bakery! The one that I scared off" dream nodded, before putting the bottle he was holding back into its place and speed walking out of the gas station. Or well, that was the plan, but he crashed against large pink mohawk guy on his escape. "Will, do you really have to traumatise the guy everytime hes around? Sorry, wilbur is a bit quirky sometimes." 'Wilbur' yelled something out about how techno is unfair, but dream didnt really listen. He felt cornered, he wanted to get out, but he couldnt, two people that could easily overpower him (that's a lie and he knows it.) He doesnt show obvious stress signs, no heavy breathing or shaking, but it was obvious that he didnt feel safe. He could feel his arms readjusting, a habit that came with them. The guy infront of him noticed, confused slightly by the mechanical movement. The silence was tense between them as none of them spoke. "I'm sorry for my brothers behaviour, he did not think about how his behaviour could affect others. And I apparently have the same issue." Mogawk guy stepped away, making the way free for dream to leave with no issue. With careful steps he walked towards the door, immediately speed walking away once he exited, checking behind himself every few steps. He just walked back to his apartment, enough social interaction for the next week. That's also the next time he leaves his apartment, a week later to go to mristins bakery again. Both brothers werent in sight, dream ordering his usual stuff and sitting down to try and get his memory going. He doesnt quite understand why, but the bakeries atmosphere helps him think back as to what happened before he got cought. Or atleast it would've helped if wilbur didnt walk in with his entire band a second later, yelling for his mom. Dream just pulled his hood up, in Hope's that the other would take the fucking hint as to not talk to him. But ofcourse he didnt. Dream knew he fucked up when he heard an excited gasp. "Guy!" He looked over at wilbur, who was just looking at him in wonder. "You're here! Hi!" He walked over to dream, trying to sit next to him. Dream scooted away but wilbur just cornered him while babbling something about how he was looking for him. Dream didnt like to be cornered tho, and his mantis didnt either. One swift movement and the blade of his right arms was at wilburs throat, grazing it but not cutting. The other stopped talking, looking at him in shook. "I- I'm sorry." "Leave me alone" "okay. But I want you to know im sorry-" "please leave me alone, you stress me." Wilbut backed off, dreams blade following for a step or so to make sure the other didnt attack (be social). Wilbur sat down at his bands table again, pink mohawk guy being mad at him for cornering dream. Drema was just tense for a while, trying to eat even tho there was a big clump in his throat. At some point Kristin sat down next to him, calming him a little bit, and explaining that its just wilburs way of interacting with people and that he doesnt mean any harm. Dream forgives him a bit, but is still tense whenever he walks into the cafe and wilbur is there. He doesnt bother him anymore, which he greatly appreciates

If raining he’ll make sure you get an umbrella, if he gets food he might get you something, he’s actually friendly. Of course he’ll still still be a bit of an ass. I also do believe that for him to treat you like this you’d have to have known him for a while and have gained his trust over the years. If not he’d just scoff at himself and not pursue those feelings.

Scenarios

You were in the gym at base exercising. In a little bit Jouno walks in “got you food” he spoke as he held out a plastic back of food in it “oh thank you” you spoke and walked over and take the bag from him “shower, you smell” he exits the room before you can speak. A little confused by this interaction you look into the bag and see your favorite food.

You were out on a mission standing guard at a door in front of a building. Jouno and Teruko were also on this mission. Teruko was inside with who you were guarding, of course you were outside guarding the door, and Jouno was making rounds around the building going inside every once and a while. Miserable out in the cold standing out front when it started raining. There was no covering above you or around you to go under. You let out a sigh and took off the cape of your uniform and held it over you head to keep dry. After a bit of this you hear the patter of footsteps coming to you, turning to the noise you see Jouno. “Well hello there Jouno” “hi, I brought you an umbrella” he hands it to you once in front of you. “Oh thanks, can you hold it for a moment” he opens the umbrella and holds it above you both as you quickly put on you cape and fix up your hair. Taking the umbrella out of his hand you spoke “do you like the rain” he responds “depends on the circumstance, you?” “Same here I suppose, also shouldn’t you get back to surveying?” “It’ll be fine I haven’t noticed anything around, if something happens I’ll hear it just fine from here anyways”

You two talk for a while, seated on the ground having a nice time. It was a nice moment, only to soon be interrupted “Teruko and the others are coming back, stand up and go on guard again” he speaks coldly before you both quickly get up. Brushing off your clothes and going into your original spot,Jouno he opened the door and went inside the building. Leaving you alone out in the cold, it honestly made you a little sad.

Ranpo

He’s very affectionate. He’ll know if you like him back but he just gets nervous and doesn’t say anything as he isn’t sure if a relationship is what he wants. But besides that when he goes out he’ll specifically ask for your assistance to help him not get lost. Sometimes he’s bold and flat out flirt with you, it’s not all the time tho. Although the more confident he gets the more often he’ll flirt before he’ll actually ask you out. One other thing, Ranpo isn’t all fuck around. Around you he’ll have more serious moments of him not being a menace. I also think that when you guys start dating when in private he mostly acts like his serious self unless he’s joking around.

Scenario

You and Ranpo are having a movie night together. You two were on you second movie already getting bored. Ranpo got up to go raid you fridge. You lay down and cover your eyes with your arm. Laying there for a while dozing off until Ranpo comes back. “Awwwww you stole my spot” he complains “tired” is all that comes out of your mouth in response “I’ll use force if you don’t moveeeee” you just turn to the back of the couch in response. “Hmmmm” he steps over to you and tries to lift up you head “let me lift your head” you let out a grumble before turning and sitting up, Ranpo jumps onto the couch and sits next to you. He pats at his lap “lay down again” you lay down and rest your head on his lap. Ranpo starts petting your hair and you let out a satisfied sigh. With his free hand he rests his head in it, he watches you as you dose of. He looked at you admiring your features. He thinks how he really need to tell you how he feels soon

Nikolai

He is not subtle at all and he knows it. He isn’t gonna let his feelings for you make him feel trapped. So mf will just flat out tell you once he realizes he likes you. Before he realized he likes you though he finds himself staring at you for a while appreciating your features or being extra touchy with you. Just with that he accidentally has you fall for him.

Scenario

You sit in your chair eyes closed in thought. Nikolai who’s in the room watches you before skipping over “hey y/nnnn” you open you eyes and look at him raising and eyebrow as acknowledgment. He grabs onto your hands and pulls you up “I’m bored so I’m going to bother you now :)” he speaks with a mischievous smile. You let out a hum “i suppose I have nothing better to you” Nikolai proceeds to put one of his hands on your waist and holds you closer. We sways you both as to start dancing together. “You know y/n your very pretty/handsome” you blush a little and let out a quite ah “oh thank you” you slightly avoid eye contact with the man in front of you. “Youre awfully silent you usually talk more” he grins and lets go of your hand and gently holding your chin and turning your head to his to you can’t avoid eye contact. “You’re teasing me arent you” you sigh and put your hands on his chest and firmly try to push him away. Although to no avail as he just pulls you closer so now you two are chest to chest and your arms are a bit stuck. The hand that was on your chin traveled to your cheek “I wouldn’t do such think to my sweet y/n, I’m going to be honest I like you” he says the first part jokingly but the second part with a more serious tone. You look him in the eyes and his expression is slightly serious and soft. He does a closed eye smile and pats you on the cheek “anyways I’ve got things to do now” he lets go of you and your left star struck right when he’s about to leave to room you speak “wait are you serious“ although he already left the room so there was no response.

Dazai

You’re someone really important for him to actually want to have a relationship with you. You are his light, man is a player so that’s why I say you have to be important otherwise you’ll just end up like anyone else he’s had times with. But onto how he treats you he’s gentle and flirty. He also has a soft spot for you. He’ll do whatever you ask of him as long as it’s nothing too much

Scenario

You sit in the coffee shop below you ADA drinking you drink and scrolling on your phone . You hear the door that is connected to the offices open up then footsteps on the hard floor. The person who came through the door speaks “hiiii y/n darlingggg”he speaks playfully. Your let out a scoff of a laugh “hello Dazai, how’s it going?”. He dances over to you and places his hand on your head and smiling “oh just the usual plotting ways to die”. “Ah of course” you sigh placing your hand on his hand that rests on your head. He leans over your shoulder to look at your phone screen, his face awfully close to his “May I sit with you my belladonna~” you laugh “only if you agree to not talk about suicide to whole time dear”. You called him dear as a way to go along with the nicknames she was calling you although you did kind of regret it after saying it. “Hmmmmm that’s quite a difficult request you’re asking from my Belladonna. But I suppose it’s a sacrifice that has to be made to sit with my lovely Belladonna” he moves his hand from your head and sits in front of you and does his soft closed eye smile that just gets your heart.

It’s always odd to see Harry in a setting that’s not his luxurious penthouse, his intimidating looking office or some high end restaurant or bar. You still remember the first time he was at your place, well, the one you lived in before moving in with him officially. It was a one bedroom, cramped apartment in a neighborhood you’re convinced Harry has never even been to in the city. He looked so out of place, it was comical, but he never made you feel less for not living the kind of life he is. He always helped you make the bed in the morning when he spent the night, pushed up his expensive shirt’s sleeves and did the dishes without a word, standing in your tiny kitchen wearing his Gucci pants… it was a surreal sight to see.

You expected to feel the same way when you arrive to your parents’ house for Christmas dinner. You grew up in a simple two story home, three bedrooms, a normal sized kitchen, no staff around. It’s as far as it can get from the way Harry was brought up in the heart of London before moving to Manhattan.

But as you’re sitting on the couch, watching him play around with your niece on the floor of your childhood home’s living room, none of those feelings resurface. It’s as natural and loving as it could get, the warm realization that Harry is now part of your family settling in your chest with each passing second.

“Harry, you’re awfully good with little kids!” your grandma smiles warmly as she walks out of the kitchen with a steaming mug of tea. Harry glances up at her smiling back as he keeps playing dolls with little Willow, your sister’s younger daughter.

“I love them and I guess they like me too,” he chuckles softly.

“Oh, so you want to have some of your own too?” your grandma questions and you already know where this is heading, making your cheeks heat up.

“Well, I would love to, yeah,” he nods with a shy smile.

“I hope you know if you’re planning to have kids with our Y/N, you have to get married first!”

“Grandma! We don’t have to do anything, it’s the twenty-first century!” you groan rolling your eyes.

“Things like these have an order, Honey!” she protests. “He better get on one knee before planning on having babies!”

“Jesus,” you huff, sinking further into the cushion, but your eyes are glued to Harry curiously.

You’ve talked about getting married before, it has come up a few times. Both of you agreed that you’re planning your future together so you’ve been expecting him to propose sometime soon, you’re just not sure when exactly. The little voice in the back of your head has been bugging you that he is gonna do it this Christmas, but nothing has been hinting that you’re right.

Especially the look on Harry’s face right now. He definitely looks a little awkward as your grandma is talking about marriage, as if he is uncomfortable.

“Noted, I’ll keep that in mind,” he breathes out, before turning back to Willow.

What does that mean? He’ll keep it in mind? For how long? Previously he was the one who brought up marriage first, has something changed since then? Or that didn’t mean he was thinking about marrying you?

You try your best to shake the thought off, maybe he is just nervous to talk about this with your family around, Harry is a very private man. Yes, that must be it. You’re still on the same page and he is definitely planning on proposing soon.

The evening carries on smoothly, dinner is amazing and you forget about the whole marriage fiasco, especially because Harry is so sweet with your family, it’s amazing to see him interact with them. It’s your third Christmas together. The first time Harry couldn’t join you at home, he was already set to fly back to his family in the UK. The next year, aka last year was the first time he came home with you. He has already met your parents and sister by that time, but not your extended family, your grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a bit shy at first, very reserved and nervous, but by the end of the night he was sitting at the kitchen island with your uncle with a beer in hand, laughing about god knows what. It was only his introduction into your family, his first appearance by your side, but this year you feel like he is truly part of it, being part of the dynamic.

After a little too much eggnog your mother however decides to make it awkward again.

“So, Harry. How long are you planning to gatekeep our daughter without marrying her?” she shoots him the question and you almost choke on your wine.

“Mom!” you warn her, but she just shrugs with a hazy look in her eyes.

“What? You’ve been together for three years, you’re happy, you’re great together, what’s stopping him?”

“You can’t just ask that, mom.”

“Why not?”

“Because it’s… Just stop this!”

“Oh, come on, just answer!” she urges and glancing to your side you see Harry moving uncomfortably in his seat, his arm resting on the back of your chair.

“I’m not trying to gatekeep your daughter,” he speaks up with a nervous smile. “We’re just… taking things in our own pace.”

What? Your own pace? Which pace is that? Because you thought that you were heading towards marriage in this so-called pace, but it doesn’t feel like Harry is going in the same pace after all.

You don’t want your family to see your reaction and this is not the place to question him about it, so instead, you just keep a straight face, tell your mother to mind her own business and chug down the rest of your wine.

After this second time it’s hard to forget about it. You can’t swallow the bitter taste in your mouth, thinking that you’ve been wrong all this time. What if Harry doesn’t want to marry you? What if he does feel weird about marrying a girl so much younger than him, who comes from a lower class than the one he was born into? He never made you feel like where you come from matters to him, but he could easily just pretend and he could be having doubts about building a future with him. But if this is the case, you’ve completely misunderstood what kind of person Harry really is.

The drive back home is silent. As the suburban setting slowly changes into the crowded city and the towering skyscrapers that’s been your home for a while now. Harry glances over at you several times, though he remains silent until you get home.

You hang your coat and stepping out of your boots you head into your closet, Harry following behind.

“Did I say or do something that upset you?” he asks, his voice clearly worried, he is not just trying to pick a fight.

“Nope,” you answer shortly, and try to get the zipper of your dress down, but it wouldn’t move for the love of God. Harry steps behind you, gently tapping your hand, signaling that he wants to help.

“Doesn’t seem like that,” he murmurs and you spot his pouty face in the mirror in front of you. Turning around, you let your dress slip down your upper body, bunching around your waist as you let out a tired sigh.

“I just… You seemed so uncomfortable when someone asked us about marriage. I know they can be very nosy, but it seemed like you… like you weren’t even planning on it.”

He seems surprised, even shocked, opens his mouth a few times, but closes them every time. In the meantime, you get rid of the dress and pull one of his old t-shirts on as he is trying to figure out what to say.

“It’s just that we’ve talked about it and it seemed like we were on the same page, but if you’ve changed your mind or if you never even wanted to marry me, you should just tell me, I’ll—“

“Y/N,” he cuts you off, taking your hand in his. “Come with me.”

“What?” you ask as he pulls you out of the closet and the two of you head in the direction of the living room. Arriving he brings you closer to the massive Christmas tree by the window, all your gifts neatly wrapped underneath it, the lights illuminating the decorated branches and reflecting in the window, doubling the pretty view.

“Harry, can we just talk about this, because—“

“I want you to open your gift,” he interrupts you again and you give him a look of disbelief.

“I’m trying to have a conversation with you,” you point out, trying your best to stay as calm as possible. “I know we are coming from different backgrounds, but I didn’t think it would bother you…”

“Wait, wait, wait. What? What does that supposed to mean?”

“I just thought that maybe you felt awkward talking about marriage with my family around because… you don’t want to be part of my family, because they are different from yours.”

Harry’s jaw clenches and you can tell your words hurt him and suddenly you wish you could take them back. Harry is not this shallow, you know that, how could you even think that this would be an issue for him?

When you think he is about to explode, he takes a deep breath and the next time his gaze meets yours, he looks so much softer and kinder, but you can see the disappointment in them too. He grabs the smallest box from under the tree, pulls you to the couch and makes you sit beside him, placing the box into your hands.

“Open it,” he simply tells you and though you want to argue why he makes you open gifts when you’re in the middle of an important conversation, you don’t argue and untie the little bow on top, taking the lid off.

“Harry,” you gasp as soon as you see the signature velvety box all women know better than anything, you don’t even have to open it to see what’s inside. Harry takes it from the box and as you’re fighting your tears he slips off of the couch and gets on one knee, popping the lid of the jewelry box, revealing a massive diamond ring.

“The reason why today was so damn awkward is because your family already knew I wanted to propose. I asked your mother and father’s blessing months ago, when I bought this ring. I didn’t tell them when it would happen and I assume they were growing impatient with me,” he chuckles softly and you kind of do the same, though your lips are trembling and tears keep rolling down your cheeks.

“There was never a question in me about marrying you. And about what you said… I’m a little hurt you thought that kind of stuff would matter to me.”

“I’m so sorry, I don’t know what came over me,” you hiccup. “I know you don’t care about that, I was just panicking that maybe you didn’t want to marry me and this was the first excuse I could think of.”

“Baby, there are no excuses,” he smiles softly, reaching up he cups your cheek in his hand, wiping your tears away with his thumb. “I would sell everything I own, go totally broke if it meant I get to be with you for the rest of my life.”

“Good thing you don’t have to do any of that,” you chuckle, pushing yourself closer so you can wrap your arms around his neck and finally kiss him over and over again. “Put it on my finger!” you ask him in excitement and your sobbing has stopped luckily.

“Wait, I haven’t even asked you the question and you haven’t said yes,” he chuckles softly, holding up the box again into your vision. “Y/N Y/L/N, will you marry me?”

“Yes!” you squeal, barely even letting him finish the question. He chuckles happily, taking the ring out of the box and finally putting it onto your finger. Yandere Winwin: He's very needy with you, unlike the way he is with everyone else. This is because you two share a lot in common and he feels he can trust you to open up to you about how he really feels. Will cherish you're selflessness and adore your brattiness so long as you make up for it with hugs, kisses, and other forms of affection. This is because he needs to know that you aren't actually feeling angry with him just so he can be sure theres nothing that needs fixing or punishing. Yandere Vernon: Vernon is a lot like his non-yandere self, however, he's more serious, dark, and he has a temper that, when crossed, is dangerous and terrifying. He wouldn't mind your quietness since he prefers peace and quiet anyways, though he doesn't mind being around people. He'd gravitate to you because you have that in common and he'd get to know you better. He stays because of your open mindedness and selfless nature. He prefers having an s/o who won't mind putting him first because he sees it as trust as well as a weakness that he can exploit. During your interactions, he's charming but his strong energy compels you to comply with his wishes, even if he wasn't being outwardly aggressive. To his surprise, he enjoys your brattiness because it sparks a desire in him that's hard for him to feel for anyone else. He wants to punish you for talking back to him or acting out, and he will. Fruits Basket Manga Review , ch 110

The writer doesn’t need to rush to akito (antagonist) & give us quick background exposition & escalate her mentality to the exploding moment, simply cuz tohru (the protagonist) isn’t emotionally in her most vulnerable moment yet. Tohru’s issues will be presented deeper  with each pov chapter she’ll have. So what should the writer do now?

This is a connected plot, meaning the emotions belonging to the previous chapter are still lingering & needs to be dealt with. There is no stupid laughing & cooking or even dumber momentarily amnesia. Nope! There is this:

-The Art of Writing Slow-Burns: (Lingering Emotions:)

Last time kyo hugged tohru thro the sheets. sth he wouldn’t do if it weren’t for the heartbreaking moment of tohru’s tears & the reason behind them. Why wouldn he do it? cuz he believes he’s the reason of her pain & is setting his mind on leaving her & being imprisoned as a punishment. He  wouldn’t do it cuz he loves her but he did it cuz he loves her. why? cuz love is illogical. Kyo’s heart moved him effortlessly to embrace her & “ his tenderness covered her pain” as the writer put it at the end of ch109.

Last time tohru hugged kyo thro the sheets, sth she wouldn’t do if it weren’t for the comfort of his warmth enveloping her loneliness & providing safety & a home. A home can a person. Why wouldn she do it? cuz Tohru is someone who hides pain behind a smile, someone who thinks she’s ugly & unlovable cuz she’s grieving still after all this time. She’s thinks she’s a burden. But here she confessed to kyo unprompted or advised by anybody. He only asked a fleeting question. but tohru cant hide who she is friom him anymore. Still, he accepted her & tenderly held her thro the sheets & she threw her body at him, she initiated the hug.

The sheet hig is the biggest emotional moment between kyo/tohru yet. It altered how they feel for each other cuz in that moment tohru’s mask fell & kyo was the most honest with himself emotionally. That’s not sth you move from with the stupid ED song. They both try to carry out normally afterwards cuz they live together after all. The slightest touch brings..... sexual tension!!!  it was so bad poor yuki left the house running!!!!!!!!

The writer cleverly escalates the sexual tension as they awkwardly try to find a talking topic, then dissolves it a bit when kto asks if tohru wants to go out together & where, then escalates it when tohru suggests buying eggs cuz she’s awkward, then dissolves it when kyo grumpily agrees but this is just grocery shopping” not a fun going out”, the escalates it when tohru said she’s happy for just bring together with him regardless of the location & kyo looses it! sexual tension explodes!

The target of the slow-burn isn’t the characters... the target is the audience! the writer plays with their emotions & cleverly puts the audience in a place where they desperately want these two idiots together but still remember why they aren’t! that’s very important. Having the readers cheer for a romantic relationship includes the readers understanding the obstacles ahead & how big they are & still cheer. If the obstacles are meh~ the readers will find the couple unrealistic, if the obstacles are so big & the couples emotions aren't buildup properly, then the couple themselves will feel meh~. Glad kyoru survived such writing mistakes both manga & anime ( anime hurt their characters more than their relationship).

-Yuki wants to move on from the unofficial son third wheeling his mom & her man:

The writer jokes abt yuki admitting he felt as a son watching his mon & her bf. I love tha this joke becuz it cleverly addresses the following points:

it is cleverly weaved in with the kyoru incident from last chapter. Sth happen & yuki doesn't know what is & doesn't want to! Yuki represents the audience I talked abt in the slow-burn point above. He is us. He’ll cheer for them to be together & will be so frustrated when they can’t. It adds to yuki confronting kyo at the climax!!! You see in the anime kyo/yuki stopped interacting much in se03. Then tada~~ big fight when it’s a must! & can’t be escaped... Here we still have kyo/yuki moments despite each boy moving away from his issues being the fault of the other. Basically better writing.....

The writer cleverly used this to address that yuki still feels like tohru’s son sometimes despite being more independent now, which is natural as you cant switch ur feelings with a button. But also the writer doesnt stay in this moment long & use it to build the next moment.. yuki/Aya , yuki/machi & aya/mine.... sadly all there dynamics are shortened in the anime like kyoru’s.

-I don’t think yuki/Aya  moment suffered much from the cuts, the entire school parents meeting ep us enough to reconcile the brothers. Aya defended yuki that day & so did yuki. He completely accepted him & stood up to him in front of the mom.

- More aya/mine would’ve been good to see & I would’ve preferred it to yuki/motoko moments in the anime that served nothing. but aya/mine too are stand alone story. They’re the most alike couple in a healthy way. Aya is the guy who protected his woman the most. simply cuz he’s the snake. snakes are secretive. he kept her to himself, even from yuki!!! impressive.

- What I lament from the cut of this mini yuki adventure?

1- This: ( yuki’s facial expressions) This is sth the anime fears, either cuz (a) pretty yuki is 100% pretty all the time, so no expressiveness cuz it leads to showing eyebrows & hiding them under layers of hair is the A.B.C of pretty characters... (b) Yuki in the anime is a prince 98% of the time, except with kyo (they got rid of this in se03 & give them one honest/ugly moment together) & with kakeru (one tiny moment in se03 in match’’s focus ep & then quickly back to prince yuki!)..., ugh!!!!!! I hate how yuki is prince thro & thro in the anime!!that’s why they couldn’t get rid of any motoko content!!! he’s a prince there... heck! school girls float after him the graduation ceremony... what’s up with that!! lol.

2-. This: ( machi with the toy that tohru/kisa/kagura/momiji & kiro like! so cute!!! also, foreshadowing yuki’s future chosen extended family! (his bro & his wife), (yuki & his wife) & best friend/his brother in law! Also, yuki is so himself! no glitters, no bubbles & no pretending anger! <3

Side Notes:

The lovely @mizzraynelly​ made notice kto’s speech in ch109 abt not vising his mom’s grave! Even tho it’s such a minor line, it’s one of the biggest cuts that foreshadow the accumulation of kyo’s guilt towards his mom. Kyo’s thing is guilt towards ppl he loves & fear of hurting them, by keeping this feeling alive in readers’ minds, the writer is making sure that the climax will hurt like sharp knives cuz the readers are on the same wave liength as kyo!!! epic buildup consists of tiny subtle pieces!

 Luckily, kyoru as a ship felt so strong in both manga & anime despite the later cutting half of their moments. Why? cuz the chosen cuts didnt affects the romantic relationship...no... the cuts affects the characters’ own personal struggle... most precisely tohru. Kyo’s own character struggles had better luck in the anime despite the cuts, simply cuz (a) was drawn with very expressive emotions & the anime team lingered on them in his scenes. (b) His character design as a whole was very expressive, the anime team didnt give him constant wide eyes like tohru & didn’t fear expr4essivness will affect for his “beauty “ like yuki. (c) kyo was given one ep per season for his issues which altho not much but way better than tohru (d) most important: kyo’s issues are very universal & very relatable” feeling guilt, mistakes & choosing wrong. That’s sth we all do!!! Tohru’s thing is grieve: this is very personal & most ppl experience it differently. 

I love kyo’s oufit!!! we have a hint of this moment in se03, ep 10 when yuki was fighting kyo... but they made yuki see them shopping as opposed of him seeing them being sexually charged!

I’m so mad this kyoru moment is cut!!!!!! tohru as a woman with pending sexual emotions is so refreshing & underrated in the trope of “ girl saves guys”. Also, it contradicts the pure mom image that’s been suffocating her since se01 ep 1!!!!! oh now i know why it’s cut... That’s why! momma tohru is so pure for such things & only when it’s the last two eps, then will allow her to be a woman choosing to live away with her man by her own desire! Why the anime only allow things ti happen when there’s no escape!!! I’ve always felt tohru/kyo is the type of couple to be expressive emotionally & sexually with each other based on seeing that ALL of their romantic interaction involves body language & I’m so happy there’s a canon proof so early before the future glimpse in finale!!!!!! 

I liked the aya-story, but it felt like the typical “ lesson of the day” formula, so I didnt analyze it much, but I enjoyed the brotherly interaction so much!! It had a gold mine of yuki being himself & so nit a prince! Im so happy I saw it! <3.

Welcome to a new episode of Sapphire Rambles, today's topic being:

Just as c!Tommy is a simbol of Care, c!Fundy is a simbol of Love.

Let me explain.

(There are going to be 3 principal points to this rant, and each of them is gonna end with a Tl;dr in purple, so it's easier to follow)

If you're a regular in the Fundy tag (or in the Ranboo tag since this argument gets often brought up in relation to C!Ranboo), you might have already seen some rants talking about how C!Fundy is an incredibly loving person, willing to chase after the people he care about if he sees the tiniest hint that mending their relationship is possible, even if they hurted him in the past.

Yeah you are going to see the same argument again here in the first part, but I promise this gets interesting

This became more clear after the Break, when he decided to try and mend his relationship with Philza and Ranboo even if they weren't at all on good terms at the moment, but he thought it was worth it so he tried and will keep on trying anyways, but we have examples of Fundy's really loving and forgiving nature back to the Revolutionary era

Everyone knows about Eret's betrayal I'm sure, but one thing people seem to skim over is how it effected Fundy, because there's the really high possibility that he was the one who was hurted the most by it.

For everyone who has some spotty memory (me too sometimes fam), Eret was the closest person to Fundy at the time, the two being really close friends, so the betrayal must have had a terrible effect on his emotional health, but you know how it went?

It went that Fundy was the first person to reach out to Eret and start to forgive his actions. Fundy always valued his friendships above the side he was in. So even tho he was a L'manburg abitant, he still thought of Eret as a dear friend to him and did his best to not make them feel alone or isolated

There are really few examples of people Fundy actually has an issue with, but even here Hate is a strong and mostly wrong word to apply, for example:

- Wilbur: as we are shown in the interactions with Ghostbur, Fundy didn't hate Wilbut for how he neglected and patronized him, it made him upset (as we saw when Ghostbur called him "his little champion" and he ran away) but he never hated Wilbur for that. The only thing he didn't forgive him was deciding to die, leaving him. And his issue with Ghostbur is not aknowledging or taking responsability. But he doesn't hate Ghostbur, he can talk to him in a civil manner even if the Ghost pretty much upsets him. And about Wilbur? Fundy loved Wilbur, the thing that hurted him was he taking the decision to definitivly leave him.

- Technoblade: even before Doomsday, the correct word of Fundy's feelings towards Techno has never been Hate, but Fear. A lot of people seemed to miss this point about the Butcher Army as a whole, but they weren't move by hate, even if they tried to make it look like they were. They were terrified. On their way to Techno's house, it was more clear than ever that they were TERRIBLY afraid of Techno. The Butcher army was never a movement of hate, but a bad reaction to a traumatic event that scarred them with fear. Also, after the Break? Fundy understands why Techno wanted L'manburg gone, so he doesn't hate him for that.

- Jschlatt: if you followed Fundy's pov, it won't be a surprise me saying that Fundy doesn't hate Jschlatt, but it may be news to other people, since one of the last interaction between the two was... anything but positive. I still shiver at the caravan scene. But even after all he's done, Fundy can't bring himself to completly hate Jschlatt, even if he did a lot of horrible things and was a horrible person, he still doesn't hate him. Fundy took with him Jschlatt's sword, keeping it as a relic and a memory of the man.

There is no one in the server, probably not even Dream Himself, that Fundy full-on hates. No matter how much they hurted him and everyone else, he just. Doesn't hate them. He's able to see the humanity in everyone, even if he wishes he could just hate people that wronged him. He was always forgiving and loving, these two aspects of him becoming even more prominent after his Break.

Tl;dr: Fundy is a character incredibly full of love and almost always willing to forgive and mend relationships with people he cares about at the moment he sees the possibility.

Now that I got the part most talked about out of the way, I'm taking the second tangent. Let's talk about Self-love.

It's not news the fact that there are really few characters, if not actually none of them, who love themselves. Might it be for trauma or for guilt, none of the characters actually love themself and act out of self-love.

Sometimes there are characters that act for themselves, but that is different from acting out of self-love.

Acting for themselves means doing something to achieve an objective that you want, for example: Eret's betrayal.

Eret betrayed L'Manburg becayse he was promised the role of King of the SMP by Dream, she acted out of her wish for power and control. That's an example of acting for yourself.

Acting out of self-love means doing something with the only cardinal reason being that it's good for you, taking care of yourself doing something that makes you feel better and healthier. That is acting out of self-love.

And, if you look at the server, you can easily see that no one has ever done that, expect for one single time.

The closest wrong thing you might be thinking off right now is when Tommy escaped from exile, but that was not an act driven by self-love. Sure, Tommy saved himself and went towards a healthier mindset, but what drove him towards that direction was not a desire to be better and good for himself, but rage towards Dream and a desire to be back to his family and friends.

You know what the only act that could possibly be out os self-love is?

Fundy going away for a years and a half, taking a break from everyone

Think about it for a second. Why did he do that? Let's start putting away the wrong possibilities:

- Doing it for someone: Fundy at the moment was heavily spiraling towards paranoia, wanting to be a villain to make everyone hate him. If that was his mindset at the time, why would he even want to get a break for anyone?

- Having a second cause: what second cause could there be for a choice like getting away from an unhealthy situation to heal? The only second reason a choice like this could have is healing to help someone else heal when you're feeling better, but refer to the last point

- ... that's virtually it

The only reason that could have caused Fundy to decide to take a break from the whole situation because it was unhealthy and heal was because he wanted to heal. For himself. He genuinly wanted himself to feel better for the only reason being, simply, feeling better.

Fundy is the only character for now to have ever taken an important choice for making himself feel better and letting himself heal.

Tl;dr: Fundy taking the year and a half break was the only decision on the entire SMP taken only out of self-love and genuine desire to feel better for the sole reason of feeling better.

Fundy is a representation of love, in any shape or form. He is unapologetically full of love and care, both for himself and for the people around him.

Anyway, the third part is a theory, if younwill kindly follow me:

The above analysis is the exact reason why the Egg causes Fundy an extreme repulsion.

Since both Fundy and Tubbo said that the Egg seems connected to Dreamons, I'm going to roll with that idea in mind.

As we all know, one of the only known weaknesses of a Dreamon is Love and this Dreamon seems to be acting and controlling people out of wishes and desires.

Fundy should be a perfect candidate for the Egg to manipulate, isn't he? One of Fundy's most known characteristic is his research for love, affection and appreciation from people, and we know the egg has no problem using love to manipulate someone, because he is manipulating Bbh using his (platonic?) love for Skeppy against him.

So why the egg would cause a repulsing reaction to Fundy?

Tommy seems immune because he doesn't wish for anything right now, he has everything that he wants

Tubbo also has a repulsive reaction, but is not a hateful reaction but one driven by fear and sadness, the Egg purposefully trying to scare him away, probably to make him unable to fight against him

But why Fundy's reaction would be full-on hate?

I think the egg was trying to do with Fundy the same thing he's doing with Tubbo, scaring him so badly to drive them to the point where they cannot fight back out of complete fear, but it's not working.

It's not working because the Egg fears Fundy, fears how full of pure, unfiltered and unapologetic love his heart is, fears how he's the living representation of the fact that love, of any kind, is the strongest emotion out there. Fundy already was able to defeat a Dreamon because of his own love, and now that he's more emotionally stable and has decided to follow his heart more, mending relationship with people he loves even if they hurt him?

Fundy is an incredibly dangerous threat to the Egg.

So fear is not enough to keep the fox away, he cannot let him anywhere near his plans.

He fears that if he tried the fear treatment on Fundy, Fundy would be able to break out of the web of terror as soon as someone he loved was caught in the crossfire

So he tried pushing him away in a different way, using hate instead of fear, because since Fundy is such a love-driven person all around, the best way to keep him away is to use hate, just like Tubbo is often driven by hope and optimism, so the best way to keep him far fron where he could be a danger is to use sadness and fear.

Tl;dr: The Egg is making Fundy hate him because that's the only emotion that could actually keep Fundy away from him, because he, being a Dreamon, fears how full of love Fundy is.

The Endeavor vs Dabi discourse is really dumb. Neither of them are in the right, so the fights turn out to be an argument of ‘who’s less bad’

Characters like Hawks, Dabi and Endeavor aren’t supposed to be placed in a box of right or wrong

Having mixed feelings about Hawks killing Twice is exactly the point

While there’s a lot of stuff you can dislike about Endeavor, you can’t lie and say he’s incompetent

While the female cast is good, they still don’t get as much screen time and development as the male cast.

Batman Deku is the dumbest take ever

No one can be the main character of MHA other than Deku. Wanting anyone else for the MC just says you want a completely different story and MHA isn’t for you

Mina has a greater impact on Kirishima’s life than anyone else in the cast

Kacchako isn’t a bad ship, but is very underdeveloped and lacking in content to back up all these ‘narrative foils’ stuff. (And the lack of emphasis on those frustrates me and still make me dislike it)

Sometimes authors forget to write a girl as a good friend before a love interest. That applies to Ochako too, sometimes

"Uraraka isn't bad written, just underutilized" is a weak argument because underutilization IS bad writing

Eraserjoke is just het Erasermic with less chemistry and depth

Deku and Ochako are too similar to each other. There has to be more contrast, more parallels, more interactions outside of hero work or group situations for me to like them

That being said, Togachako is the best Ochako ship. Also maybe partly because my expectations for number of interactions is much lower when a ship isn’t hinted to be endgame

Stain’s ideology isn’t right. There are people who want to make money like and can still be selfless, like Ochako. Killing a fake hero isn’t the right way. People can change, like how Mt. Lady went from a hero that only wanted fame and money to wrestling Gigantomachia

If Bakugo were a girl, a lot more people would ship bkdk. Not just because it’s het, but also because a female rival character who is also the deuteragonist in shonen is practically unheard of

I thought Kiribaku and Bakudeku would be sister ships because krbks and bkdks both ship Bakugo with a sunshine character that can understand that asshole, and love his character development. I guess this isn’t about Bakugo

All Might is a good mentor character. Saying he’s a bad character is like saying Shigaraki’s a bad villain. Them starting out as a bad mentor/villain is the point. Also, it’s good to see a mentor that isn’t a know-it-all an has space to grow alonside the MC

Bakugo is the underdog among the Big Three. Deku is the chosen one, Shoto was born the number two hero’s son. Bakugo only had a strong quirk and great combat abilities, which is great when comparing it to everyone else, but isn’t really much when comparing him to Deku and Shoto

Gran Torino should have died. There’s really no reason for him to still be alive

Kaminari is not the same as Mineta. I’m not saying this because I hate Mineta, they really just aren’t

Mineta does have a redeeming trait or two, but that’s nowhere near enough for Mineta stans to tell people to stop hating him. Tho I do think Mineta slander is getting old

Deku having six more quirks is not an asspull

Bakucamie is a good ship, I love their dynamic and find them hilarious, but I hate it whenever someone only ships them for the sake of making the ship set all straight

The Joint Training Arc being good or bad is subjective. It depends how invested you are in these characters. I read JTA on 2018 for the sake of binging the manga right after watching the anime, and I found it boring. I didn’t get to actually take a break and get used to most of the students. Rereading it on 2021, I really enjoy that arc

The Mirio return sucked. Too crowded, too many reveals at once. It could’ve been saved for later (I do have this theory that maybe Hori returned Mirio now so that the stockpile for Eri’s quirk would be empty. So maybe she will be able to heal Deku, but Deku will have to be armless for an arc of two. But still think it sucks)

Dabi is a crazy ass motherfucker and it’s okay to like him for that. Dabi stans who’ve had their soft Dabi hcs disproven and try to make him sound soft, shut up. Him being a really cool villain and a murderer is what makes him a good character

Momo is a better leader than Iida in terms of... leading? Iida’s just better at maintaining order

Saying ‘character development doesn’t matter’ when calling characters like Bakugo or Endeavor bad characters is an opinion, not a fact. Character development does matter, and is one of the most important elements of an ongoing manga

The school festival arc was not a waste of time. It is shown in that arc that heroes can and should be able to save people’s hearts. That point is brought up when the LOV’s backstories where revealed in the MVA arc

Y’all have to stop simping over every new character revealed. They aren’t even that hot

Dynamight is a good hero name. It really suits Bakugo, corny and over the top with the Great Explosion Murder God

Shoto is not a sass god. He’s just genuinely aloof and dense. He’s unintentionally funny, and that’s what makes him so great

MHA should not end with all the straight ships getting together and having kids. As much as I like most of the ships, that’s probably the worst kind of ending

Summing Bakugo and Deku’s relationship to bully and victim is incredibly shallow and insulting, to Hori’s writing, Bakugo’s character development, and Deku

Shinso and Monoma’s chaotic energy is the best part about the 5th match of JTA

Shinkami has more to it than just Kaminari calling Shinso hot

‘All Might should’ve died in Kamino’ is a dumb take. Some of y’all really just want some kind of ‘serious setback’ for Deku without considering how All Might not dying at that time and dying much later can be way better for the plot as a whole

Most ‘(character) has an underrated quirk’ takes are dumb. There was some theory that Ochako should be the most powerful character because she can manipulate time or space (I honestly don’t remember what. Just some physics shit), and that was dumb. Do y’all just forget that the scale of the power and a person’s limits matter in determining how powerful a character is?

Might+U playing in the background of the Bakugo and Deku vs Nine fight was good. No, it shouldn’t be hype music.

Calling Hawks an abuse apologist, especially at this point of the story, is incredibly dumb

The dub has tendencies of mischaracterizing some characters. While they don’t affect the overall plot, they can affect a person’s view of these characters.

I know y’all wanna hype Aizawa up, but saying “technically he’s the most powerful because all his quirk does is lower the playing field!” is dumb. All it does? As if lowering the playing field doesn’t do much? Taking away the quirk is already a huge deal. Saying that he’s powerful because the quirk is powerful feels more accurate.

Bakugo and Momo’s gifted child syndrome/inferiority complex (idk if my terms are right) aren’t shallow and just lame character tropes. They mean a lot if you can relate to them. The same way with Ochako. People who can’t relate to wanting to earn money to help your parents can’t relate to her or like her. (Tbh I can’t cuz where I live filial piety is just everywhere? There’s nothing special or emotional about giving your parents money so that they can live easy lives when they get old. It’s practically duty. But I get why people like her and relate to her)

Dabihawks vs Endhawks is also dumb af. They’re both ‘problematic’, and that’s perfectly fine. One of them’s an age gap ship (technically legal but still uncomfortable), one of them’s an enemy lovers ship (not enemies to lovers. They’re both at the same time) that have tried to kill each other

Society falling apart after the war was predictable. It's the smaller specific details that make it interesting. And the emotions of grief and despair shown in pages.

Ada Thorne nee Shelby

How I feel about this character

Just love for her! She is adorable, strong, fierce, absolutely amazing! Ada and Polly are the best developed female character on the show. Mainly, because Tommy can’t fuck them, so they can’t be reduced to his love interest, which is such a good thing, because I love strong women. Makes me weak in my knees.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Freddie Thorne, Ben Younger, Jessie Eden, because Ada is bi, she just gives off that vibe, u know.

Somehow I prefer to read stuff with a female reader for her, more than a male reader for her. Because it’s either Freddie x Ada for me or Ada x female reader.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Lizzie, Polly, Ada and Linda are an amazing combination! She and Tommy have an interesting dynamic as well! I would have loved to see more John and Ada interactions, because they have not such a big age gap inbetween, so I think they are close. Especially after Ada got her child and John got married with Esme. Oh, Ada and Esme would have sooo much fun together. Esme would be like the sister Ada never had.

My unpopular opinion about this character

I think her character changed a lot between season 1 and 2, because of Freddie’s death and also after she joined the business again. Sometimes when I make memes or the alignment charts, I have two icons for her, one from first season and one from third season, because I think she is one of the characters who changed the most through the series. First season Ada would do a lot of things different and more naive than third season Ada. Mainly, because she still believed in communism in season 1 and she somehow lost her faith after losing Freddie. Which is super understandable tho.

She acutally becomes wiser with age... unlike her brothers, who just do the same shit over and over again.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

I wished Ben hadn’t died, because they kill her lovers even fast than Tommys. WTF, right?

On the other hand I wished Ada talked some sense into Jessie, to NOT SLEEP WITH TOMMY THE WHORE SHELBY! Because Ada knows her brother very well and I think she genuinely liked Jessie, or she liked her enough to save her from the pain of being Tommy’s toy or pleasure doll.

And I’m still bitter about the way they killed of Freddie... but more about that later...

How I feel about this character

Relationship status: It’s complicated!

Yes, well, I ramble about Tommy’s shit a lot. I know! He is still an intersting character and it’s so tempting to think about his actions in certain situations, but if I would meet him as a person- I would hate him from the bottom of my heart! <3

He is such an asshole all the time and when I first watched the show, I forgave him a lot he did to his siblings, because I was caught up with his good looks and the presentation of him being the good guy who does bad things to survive. But I spend some time to think about his actions and I noticed, he is an awful human being... to Polly, to his siblings, to his lover and actually to everyone. He might think he does all those mean things to archive a bigger goal, but he is just a gambling addict who can’t stop taking risks he isn’t even prepared for.

Shitty things Tommy has done over time:

Forcing his brother to marry somebody, John didn’t even know at that time, to end a feud, Tommy had started himself and only when it was in his favour to end it, he used John as pawn, so he could archive his plan. HOW FUCKED UP WAS THAT? Nobody seems to talk about this. It was fucking awful! And the way he did it was horrible to! Tommy said nothing to John until the very last moment, when they were already surrounded by enemies, so John couldn’t said no. It also shows, that Tommy thinks he is above his siblings. Tommy thought John wasn’t capable of chosing a wife for himself, so Tommy did that for him too. Even when John didn’t ask for this at all!

Destroying Ada’s relationship with Freddie and chasing his best friend out of town, just because... TOMMY WAS AGAINGST HIS SISTER HAVING A RELATIONSHIP. and yet he proclaimes to listen to woman and to give them a fair change. Maybe just not for our dear Ada!

Destroying Arthur’s marriage, because he kept dragging Arthur into shit, he wasn’t mentally stable enough for. Putting thoughts of rejecting Linda into Arthur’s head, by talking bad about Linda and making jokes about her any given time.

Sleeping with Lizzie over and over again, even when he knew she loved him and when she tried to get over him by dating someone new, he made the order to burn down the pub of Angel, humilated his family, and have him killed later.

Sleeping with Jessie, so he could use her

Humiliate Polly, when she was at her lowest, after Rueben had left her

Drag Michael into the illegal business after Polly begged him not to

Dragging Finn into all this shit after John died, because John wasn’t avaiable anymore

Calling Grace a whore, when they first met

Paying Lizzie in his head, even after she stopped being a sex worker

I have a lot... where should I start?

I get so annoyed, when I see Tommy shown as a twink, because the actor is just 1,70m... which is not small to me. I know a lot of men around that height and I think they are average and not small. Also a lot of men feel bad for not being tall enough, because everywhere in our society it’s normal to have a tall man and a small woman. And the way tall man or small man are sexualized in this alpha/omega thing or in a top/bottom dynamic is so... meh. It’s really uncomfortable to see how people try to push the patriarchal man-woman dynamic into same-sex relationships.

Tommy is a class traitor and a horrible husband.

Man, I could rant for hours, but I stop right here. Just remember, please don’t feel attacked, I don’t mean to attack you. Even if you write or draw... whatever with Tommy, I would never say something bad about this. Enjoy creating Tommy content, I will love to ignore it!

I was so disappointed when they killed Freddie, because those two could have had an interesting and compelling relationship. Freddie could have been a great frenemie. I put this here and on on Ada, because their marriage wouldn’t changed the plot as much as Freddies and Tommys friendship. Tommy would have been a way better person, if Freddie was around.

John Shelby

How I feel about this character

MY HUSBAND! I love him and he has never done anything wrong in his life.

Nah, John has many faults, but I still adore him as a character, because his faults are actually making the plot more interesting. I also read, that he and Tommy fight a lot, because John is more moral and has way more integrity than his older brother. It was just hinted in the show, but I love this side fact and I will base my whole characterisation this.

I love to write, draw and read stuff with him. He is my favorite character from Peaky blinders and my love will never die, even though he did.

Funny tho, when I first watched PB, I adored Tommy and was annoyed by John, but as I rewatched it I changed my mind about those two.

He had so much potential and I would spend all my money, which is not much, but the devotions counts, to see a spin-off with just John and his army of children.

John & Michael (especially in season three, because John seems to be jealous of Michael)

John is not completely stupid. Well, he is certainly not smart, but he works in the betting shop, and Arthur does not, or not really, because Arthur is bad at math... John at least knows his numbers. And also Tommy chose him to be the legal bookie over the others, so John must do a good job there. He just never got a degree or something similar like Michael. Which is also a reason, why John seems to be bitter about Michael joining the business. Michael was put in a higher position than he did.
