There is something I want to express and this fandom should know.

Nu: Carnival is a Harem game but unlike most games in the genre the relationships with MC are all canon within the same story, there are no "Routes", no "Alternate Universe/Timelines", it's all 1 Main Story where you get to gradually meet all the Characters who'll be your companions, in this game named Clan members, and all of them one way or another end up falling for Eiden (MC), which makes polyam relationship canon with Eiden as the center:

Like very few games have polyam representation, let alone a positive one, like yes the polycule it's very Eiden central but even then all the Clan Members interact with one another, as we see mainly in the time limited Events but also in the Main Story, and have friendly and amicable interactions, they rely on one another sometimes even without Eiden being involved.

But also, Aster and Morvay have a relationship established too since way before the events of the prologue of the game, Kuya and Quincy have hinted some sort of situationship (idk I don't care about Quincy and my knowledge about Kuya is limited to what happens in the story and events cause I have no limited SSRs nor have I read any of his Intimacy Rooms).

[Also if any of you knows of any other relationship that have been hinted at that i'm missing feel free to share, i specifically ask of you to refer to only canon, i know in fanon anything and everything is possible and sometimes we may be missperceiving some interactions between characters so i ask of you to take those rose tinted glasses off and see unfiltered canon, it's hard for me too ngl so dw]

All this started with some posts I saw about ppl feeling bad for Yakumo and/or Edmond to be "forced into a polyam relationship" when they are the "most romantic members" and "deserve a monogamous relationship", their words not mine, as if mono > poly , but also do you really think they're against it!?

One thing is being Clan Members against their will (which is all Huey's fault btw), having to work together to regulate the Altars' Essence (or their own) and then another one completely is involving themselves in a personal and intimate way with Eiden, which the latter they all did in their own terms and out of free will.

Also i wanna share one of the best and my fav scenes with Karu, which i know not everyone was able to experience it cause it's hidden in the Intimacy Rooms of a Limited SSR, but it expresses exactly why the polycule is consensual.

Context: Eiden has been worrying about forcing the Clan Members to be with him because he is the New Grand Sorcerer, against their will just because of Huey's magic that ties them together and the responsibility of Regulating the Altars and basically maintaining stability in the Klein Continent.

His worries began (at least that i noticed) in "Eerie Escapade" (Halloween Event), that was also the first time Garu got hurt while protecting Eiden and the first time Karu got mad at him and fronted to yell at Eiden (which is my another fav scene of Karu omg i love him so much i gotta go back and take screenshots of that but that's for another post), the second one being in "Army x Blood x Oath" (which are the screenshots i'll show u)

Because this are the Intimacy Rooms of Garu/Karu's Limited SSR this scene focuses on Eiden feeling guilty because Garu got hurt in the past (Halloween Event) and this time he lost his memory (temporarily, due to this event's story) and Eiden blaming himself for it all and wondering if they would be better off without him, but the same can and is applied to the rest of the Clan Members, seeing how Eiden met and approached Rei while respecting his privacy and independency even tho he's also a Clan Member and the newest introduced in the story, means that the Limited Events are also canon and part of the story because Eiden seems to be growing and learning from previous Events and showing that development in future Events and the Main Story.

Karu also mentions that Garu (prior to losing his memories) was also worrying about the same thing Eiden was, like 'what if Master (Eiden) stays with us just because of the contract with Huey? :c' and he calls them both idiots because they don't communicate and fronts to fix it! (Mighty Karu to the rescue)

And talking about "Eerie Escapade" that is also the event where Yakumo's possessiveness towards Eiden shows, i'll admit i haven't seen the last room but i feel like those people i mentioned before are using it as fuel to their idea, because if Yakumo is jealous of other Clan Members interacting with Eiden and "Wants him all to himself" that must mean he wants a monogamous relationship, right?

WRONG!

That just means Yakumo is a complex person that feels different emotions specially when it comes to the most important person in his life (Eiden) other than his grandparents!

And Yakumo feels guilty for having those feelings, not because of them being in a polycule and he not wanting to be in it, but because he has trauma and sees his desires and wants as selfishness and he would never allow himself to be selfish cause he doesn't want to hurt people, he's a people's pleaser! He lives with constant fear of hurting others like the Great Serpent did when it killed many (but apparently there may be more that meets the eye, because the current event hinted that the Great Serpent actually liked humans and took care of children ???)

And Yakumo dealing with those feelings along with his yokai powers as a descendant of The Great Serpent have been the main topic of his last 3 Limited SSRs, which is great because that means CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT~

Now unfortunately i cannot talk about Edmond's Intimacy Rooms as i'm missing ALL OF HIS SSRs (why do you hate me Edmond if ily) but from what i've seen he's also pretty happy being with Eiden, heck even HIS MOM is happy his son is with Eiden!

That's right, she's the first and only parent of the Clan Members that knows and approves of their relationship, if it weren't because most of them are orphan we could get many more... i wonder if Yakumo's grandparents are aware hmmm ... and we all know Olivine's parents are gonna HATE it xD and maybe Garu's wolf pack will approve of Eiden by the end of this event.

Silly Game Time: Who are some of your favorite mechanical characters, be they robots, androids, cyborgs, or something else? And what do like about them?

OOOOH...

Well, first, gotta mention my man Data.

A lot of people has said that he is autism-coded in the way that he is presented, and in how other people react to him. And I kind of agree tbh. He's also just a sweetheart, and his bonds with the crew (especially Laforge), his cat Spot, and sometimes with people who are briefly onboard are so lovely.

I also feel I should mention Connor,

Because his arc has probably inspired so many OCs at this point. Bryan Dechart did such an excellent job playing him, and his growing bond with Hank is very well-written. I think it's honestly touching how it's often emotional bonds that show humanity.

Another I feel would be a crime not to mention,

Because between the iconic lines and the dynamic he has with John Connor, and the way it shapes his various decisions, how could I not? And yes I'm specifically talking Terminator 2 here. Though I will say he makes an EXCELLENT force of nature and presence of absolute horror in the first movie.

Then, of course, the sapphic community's favourite,

Because "Want You Gone" hurts me on a personal level, and I don't just mean because it's how GLaDOS says farewell. I relate to that song so much (and did a cover of it :D) and, in general, relate with much of her story. Of course, she's a sassy motherfucker who you can't help but love. But for how much Portal 2 is considered the inferior game, it really does make her story into one of self-discovery and complicated morality. I guess it just gets overshadowed by Oh hi. How are you holding up.

Next,

I MEAN. COME ON. This guy used to be, and honestly still is, one of my biggest fictional crushes. His charisma is magnetic, of course. His STORY being wrapped up by the connections he used to have being rekindled, resulting in him choosing to be a star for those who need one most, rather than a star for the most people possible???? Ugh, poetic cinema.

Speaking of stars,

[vibrating] I have so many headcanons when it comes to this one But more to the point, Star Dream is an absolute force of nature. Its boss fight is incredible, an absolute marvel of multiple types of play styles coming together. The themes? Slap.

Star Dream's draw, for me, is that its sentience is so…debatable. I'm on the side of “had sentience the whole time”, and more to the point, “based on how much Haltmann copied homework, it's possible he brought something back from the dead” but I dunno, I don't like arguing my case when it comes to the second. The point is, for many of things that it does, it's uncertain whether that's just part of its program, or if it's a sentient decision. Was Susie sent away because of something accidental, or was it Star Dream's intention? The fact that Haltmann became so focused on its creation after her disappearance, in my eyes, kind of implies the latter…

… It's also interesting that even without Haltmann giving it a voice via him-being-possessed, it only chooses to speak to Meta Knight.

This is Palharine and Mayday! They're my favourites out of a group of robot/android characters I created about three years ago, and have finally taken the time to draw recently:

From left to right, you got Eodel Remidoros, Palharine, Mayday, and Ziah Hyperion. All very different interpretations of robotic.

Palharine and Mayday stand out to me due to their emotional states. They're kind of opposites, in that regard. Mayday is a very sensitive gal, who has been through a lot of pain, and is trying to become stronger so she can confidently say she has no doubt in who she is. Palharine, as far as they're aware, has no emotions. Which is interesting, since the other three all seem to, to some degree. Among the four, Palharine is also unique in that they're programmed to dream. Both of these things shape them a lot.

But these two have a very sweet bond, where they're both passionate about biology, especially botany. Mayday, in a training exercise, also nearly wipes the floor with Palharine. It's more touching than it sounds.

Also, Palharine's genderfluid and Maydays a trans woman, so those things just inherently spark joy for me, haha!

This has been, real robotic character hours.

Hii, to be honest I don't really care that much about criticizing the game, I think people can have whatever interpretation they want, personally I adore the game because I played it during a tough time in my life!

The only thing I wanna point out is that in your most recent post about Sunny recieving the violin, a lot of your points feel kinda off to me? I'd just like to mention that it makes sense that his friends had to tell him about their jobs rather than flashbacks because that'd mean a double flashback, show don't tell is great and all but it doesn't mean only show and no tell! I do think the game can be heavy handed but that scene feels justified and natural as it was a surprise for Sunny and they're telling him about it.

The other thing I'd like to mention is that I feel like picking apart Sunny's reaction can go into some dangerous territory. As someone with autism, I don't react the way people expect, when I am given gifts I don't always express my emotions about it. Sunny is characterized as quiet, maybe nonverbal, and not very expressive, and I relate to him a lot because of that! I'm not saying you're able ableist at all, just suggesting you keep in mind that just because he isn't portrayed in a normal neurotypical sense doesn't mean he is characterized as an asshole. There are real people who act like that when given gifts, and to say he is a bad person because of that can hurt the real life people who don't express emotion the way people expect!

The flashbacks I was talking about could've been spread throughout the game and foreshadowed his friends buying the violin, not nested in the Christmas flashback. Of course, that'd necessitate changes to the story's structure and all that entails.

Said Christmas flashback could've been foreshadowed even without changing the story too much by having characters say something to the effect of "Oh hey, I used to work for that place! Back when..." and then abruptly stopping since further elaboration would require them to bring up the time when Mari was still alive.

If you relate to Sunny or interpret him as autistic, more power to you! I'd rather not use unsubstantiated interpretations as arguments when discussing what happens in the game proper, though.

There is no definitive canonical evidence to confirm Sunny himself is autistic, nor was it ever confirmed by the writer or anyone else out of the developer team. As far as I know, it's just a headcanon.

My issue with Sunny's reaction isn't that he's not outwardly happy. It pertains to a bigger problem with how he's characterized - I can't tell what he's feeling most of the time because he has no real personality to speak of. Nothing about him shows that he genuinely cares for his friends deep down (Headspace doesn't count), and his actions in the real world paint him as profoundly unpleasant at best. That problem, in conjunction with the fact we're never told what he actually wanted for that Christmas (or whether he wanted anything in the first place), means I can only read his "reaction" as him being displeased with his friends' heartfelt gift but accepting it just because he needed to look polite.

All in all, I think this has nothing to do with autism. He's really just an asshole.

Social anxiety and the confusion in my romantic orientation

Hi,

So I've been trying to figure out my romantic orientation recently.

I've known for a very long time that I'm Asexual. Specifically sex repulsed. Accepted it, moved on.

For a long time I believed I was (and I still am) homoromantic. Liked girls, love hugs and the occasional kiss. Never questioned it for years.

Didn't think about that stuff for very long time and then recently started too. Woo midlife crisis without even being that old yet :D

Thought about getting a partner, dating apps were an experience to say the least.

From finding out most people won't date ya If you won't have sex and realising just how important shared interests are to me. All fine until I met some lovely people and had panic attacks (not their fault though).

I just couldn't deal with the idea of constant contact. I went from rarely speaking to people to trying to think of doing so long-term. Too much too soon. My autism panicked and I couldn't take it. Became extremely anxious and became unwell.

To cope with this revelation, I wondered if I could be aromantic. Turns out I'm most likely not. Doing my research it doesn't fit too well and neither does the idea of queer plantonic relationships. All this trying to make it "fit" is making my depression worse too, as I know it doesn't feel right.

Most of what I thought was aromantic-ness is actually just my social anxiety. I know if I get to know someone I can be very affectionate. It's just getting to that point.

So I have a lot to work on anxiety wise but at least I've come to terms with it.

I would like to do some more research into aromantism though. I know I'm not one myself, but it would be nice to appreciate and understand them more. Not just think about them during pride (or to avoid my anxiety).

Tell me about the process of writing trr 👀

Um. This got very long. So most of it's going under a readmore.

One of the first things I did when I started TRR was come up with three principles for writing autistic!Halt, which I stick to every time I write him:

Halt is an autistic character, not a character who happens to have autism. Essentially meaning: Halt's autism must affect the narrative. TRR (as well as many recent one-shots) would not be the same stories if Halt was neurotypical, and I figure if I did write something where Halt's autism didn't affect the story, then I've written it poorly

Halt's autism can't be discarded for the sake of the story. Pretty self explanatory. In a lot of media with autistic-coded characters, they're portrayed as weird and having some social difficulties or weird interests in a way that can be summed up as being "lolz so QUIRKY 🤪", but those traits can be highly inconsistent depending on what the plot needs. I was determined to not do that in TRR.

Halt's autism is value-neutral. There's two broad camps that a lot of autistic rep or autistic-coded characters fall into, mainly depending on the genre they appear in. If they're in a more serious story, the focus tends to be on how much of a problem they are for their caretaker, and if they're in something comedic, the focus will be on how much of a jackass and/or how clueless they are and the basis of the humour will be other people responding to this. In either case, we're supposed to sympathise with the non-autistic characters and relate to how difficult dealing with an autistic person is. The other alternative is that we get an inspiration-porny depiction of autism where the autistic character is so saintly and good and wonderful and inspiring, which is also pretty damn dehumanising. So for TRR, I tried to avoid both those extremes. If characters had problems with Halt's autistic traits, that was their fault - any problems they have with him are part of a failure to accommodate him, or because they pushed Halt out of his comfort zone. Of course, Halt would have to meet them half-way here: if he's rude, he does have to realise that and apologise for that rudeness. At the same time, Halt isn't better than anyone else by virtue of being autistic. He's not an inspiration to them, nor is he there to teach them how to be better people: he's just another character, just like any of them. Maybe I haven't always pulled this last principle off correctly, but I try.

Another thing I did really early on was settle on what Halt's autistic traits would be. In canon, Halt dislikes loud noises, doesn't seem to look at people very much, he can talk for a long time on things he knows but doesn't otherwise speak very much, and he loves archery - he's one of the Corps' best rangers. Using this as a basis, I decided Halt has noise sensitivities, generally avoids eye contact unless he knows people well, and that archery is one of his special interests. I wanted to make Halt slightly touch adverse, so I gave him my trouble with being touched around the shoulders. Finally, based on how many times Halt gets quiet and avoids people in loud situations, I decided to have him shut down instead of melt down when he starts to get overwhelmed.

And then I had to decide how to actually write that autism - as in, like, the mechanics of writing. There's a subtle difference between how Halt's POV scenes are written versus everyone else's. When I write from Halt's POV, I don't typically include any emotion from other characters unless it's very obvious, or I describe body language without much detail. If Halt meets someone for the first time, the other character will be described with a hair colour and maybe their general build and that's it - Halt doesn't like looking at faces much, so you won't get details like their eye colour or distinct facial features. This means a lot of perspective-hopping, because if the other characters' emotions are important to the scene, then I either can't tell it from Halt's POV or I need a scene afterwards that backtracks slightly to explain what we missed. I also try to focus more on the information coming through Halt's senses - what he's hearing or feeling, for instance. It was the only way I could think of to actually get across social difficulties and what having sensory processing disorder feels like, lol

More recently, I reread RA's two prequels (which cover the same timespan as TRR) and made extensive notes on the plot/characters...fully knowing I would need to discard 85% of it for TRR. I can at least make shout-outs to it, or use it as a basis for what I write. I turned those notes into a 41 page document that describes characters, locations, and events, complete with sub-headings!

sorry if this question upsets you because you've answered it a lot, but is mary a child/teen on Blackout Hospital? i supposed she was young because of the game console thing and her naiveness, though its part of her personality i feel like she's a minor in this game

No. Mary is not a child. Mary is not a teenager. Mary is not a minor. Mary is an adult woman.

I don't mean to sound harsh, or mean, or cruel, but I am quite frankly sick of getting this question and people's inability to see Mary as an adult. I don't think you are trying to "bait" me into getting worked up or something, but because this happens often enough, I need to say something about it.

Mary's appearance should not be an excuse as to why people see her as a child. She's essentially the same height as Twyla in Cemetery Mary, but not one person has ever came to me saying they suspected Twyla of being a teenager? Or a child? Or a minor? Is that not weird, when they look so similar?

In Blackout Hospital, Mary is shown to be around the same stature as other adult characters. Yes, she is a short person. A petite person! But there's plenty of adults who are petite too--do you call anyone you see under 5'5" a child?

I think some people also conceive the notion in their heads that Mary is younger due to having a flatter chest than some of her other female/feminine peers. I, however, find this to be pretty ridiculous for a few reasons.

One, is because it is completely natural for people to have different body types. There are teenagers who have big chests. There are adult women who have small or even flat chests.

Two, because as I have openly stated in the past--Mary is designed with the potential to be interpreted as a cis or trans girl. If one were to read Mary as being a transgirl, it would also make sense for her to not have much of a chest.

I think using Mary's personality as a reason to read her as young is...well, in the most polite way I can possibly say this...I think it's bullshit. Because I notice this trend happen across hundreds of characters and now it's happening with mine.

Characters who are mean are perceived as older, more mature. Characters who are nice are perceived as stupid, and younger. Twyla and Mary are around the same height and have nearly identical figures, but because Twyla is mean no one spares her a second glance and because Mary is nice everyone accuses her of being a child. (Even with characters who aren't Mary this happens. Dr. D. Light is often portrayed as stupid or gullible or idiotic when he's...literally a certified doctor? He isn't stupid--he's just nice.) Similarly, it's interesting to me how when Reginald doesn't understand a piece of technology he's often viewed as older, but when Mary doesn't, she's viewed as younger? Why is that?

And, because this has recently been confirmed as part of Mary's canon, I ESPECIALLY do not like Mary being accused of being a child/minor when Mary is autistic.

The infantilization of autistic adults is a real issue, and there's plenty of articles and conversations on the topic. I don't necessarily want to start a whole new conversation about that here, but I will say that because of it, it really does rub me quite the wrong way when people accuse Mary's personality or mentality as being that of a child. I often wonder how many traits Mary displays that people see as "being that of a child" when they're really just "traits associated with autism".

But I think a big flaming gun in this whole argument is that no one in these universes where Mary exists treats her like a child or a teenager. When Mary meets Twyla in Cemetery Mary she describes her as looking college-aged AND also around her age. No one brings up any objection as to why Mary would be allowed in a bar that serves alcohol. No one ever brings up the idea of Mary currently being enrolled in a highschool(Except in a game like Here For Sweethearts, where she is a highschooler just like EVERYONE ELSE). No one brings up an age difference when it seems like Mary and Reginald could be romantically involved in CM. Twyla accuses Mary multiple times of dating Reginald in CM without mentioning any difference they could have in age or why it would be inappropriate if they were dating. When *slight Blackout Hospital spoilers, I'm sorry!* Hyllindrix sees Mary wearing a wedding ring, he asks her if she is married without any sort of mention that she would be a child bride or something similar. Reginald has line in Blackout Hospital where he refers to her as being a woman. Vasilis, a clearly established adult with a job, says things to Mary like "These have been around since WE were kids".

And part of the reason receiving asks or comments like these makes me so mad is because it always feels like you guys are trying to accuse me of something. Like you are covertly trying to catch me in a "gotcha!" moment where I'll admit Mary isn't actually an adult or something, so you can frame the relationships Mary has with other people as being something predatory and gross and "expose" me as someone who is okay with that kind of content. And that makes me really sad to be viewed as someone who would portray that kind of stuff as OK in my work.

Mary Anta is an adult woman. I have never treated her like she is not. None of her in-universe friends have treated her like she is not. And I think that is what I want people to take away from this. If YOU view Mary as a child, a teenager, a minor, when she clearly is not then that is on YOU. I am not the one infantilizing Mary. You are.

I’ve spiralled into a Lab Rats hyperfixation recently and now all of you have to deal with it. I haven’t watched Mighty Med yet so some stuff about Elite Force may be wrong since I don’t know the MM characters that well yet. Most will be Chase-centric. Anyway, here are my HCs.

-Chase is trans, he is the most trans character I have ever seen you cannot change my mind.

-Adam acts like a d!ck to Chase but he actually loves him a lot and would actually kill someone for him (I stand by Adam being the cuddliest sibling)

-to reiterate the above, Adam loves hugs. He will hug anyone and any given point (Tasha is usually the victim of his super strong hugs)

-Bree loves girly stuff but when it comes down to it she can act like a classic brother (pranks, punching people in a friendly manner, bro hugging people, loogie contests, arm wrestles to prove who’s stronger etc) (THIS IS NOT ME SAYING GIRLS CANT DO THIS, it’s just that traditionally brothers do this more than sisters. This is coming from someone who has a sister and a brother)

-Bree can pick Chase up and used to always attempt to throw him like Adam does. She has not yet succeeded in throwing him farther than about a foot. Adam thinks it’s cute and hilarious.

-Leo gets along with Chase more than everyone else because they’re both autistic and they stim dance together all the time after Leo introduced it to Chase.

-Chase was forced to suppress his stims as a child because Mr Davenport wasn’t educated on autism/neurodivergence enough to realise it was helpful to Chase.

-Chase was not diagnosed with autism until Leo came along and both him and Tasha pointed it out that he is most definitely on the autism spectrum.

-Adam isn’t stupid. He just acts stupid and like he doesn’t know things just to annoy Chase and he thinks it’s funny.

-Adam has ADHD and struggles with retaining information that doesn’t interest him.

-Adam is also dyslexic and has dyscalculia (number dyslexia basically)

-Leo and Bree love reading comics together. Bree fangirls over Skylar Storm (since this is based on the seasons before Bionic Island and Elite Force. She pretends to not know Skylar when she sees her because she’s been bullied at school for liking comics before and she doesn’t want Oliver, since she had a crush on him, to know she reads comics)

-Adam and Chase can’t read comics. The colours and fonts make it hard for Adam to focus and Chase gets overwhelmed by all the bright colours with his super senses. The pages also feel very icky to him.

-Chase leans against Adam when he feels overwhelmed (this is kinda canon since we see this in the scene where Chase gets overwhelmed by the sound of the school bell in Crush, Chop and Burn)

-All the siblings play Minecraft. Chase and Leo have an amazing world together where they’ve built a whole city with really cool features. It’s their pride and joy.

-Spike doesn’t know he’s bionic and god forbid he ever finds out.

-Spike stems from Chase’s deep rooted dysphoria. Spike is everything he thinks he is not. This is why we see Spike portrayed as having a really deep voice and constantly flexes his muscles as a result of toxic masculinity.

-Chase can communicate with Spike in his head if he wants to, he just hasn’t discovered it yet because he still hates the idea of Spike taking over his body

-Chase and Sebastian definitely dated.

-TW for this one: Sebastian was abusive to Chase towards the end of their relationship, after Sebastian found out about the destruction of Krane.

-Chase falls for people easily and tends to blindly trust people because of his autism. He isn’t aware when people have ulterior motives as he’s not good at reading between the lines. (This is totally not based on me /s)

-And on that note, Chase uses tone tags all the time after Leo showed him what they were. Leo loves it. Adam is confused on what they mean and forgets the meaning so has a screenshot of what they all mean saved to his phone. Bree forgets to use them a lot because she speed types and makes a lot of mistakes but she tries her best.

-Adam is gay, he definitely went out with Owen but had to break up with him when they moved to the bionic island. They get back together once Adam realises that Owen can come to the island whenever he wants to. (I imagine this happens after the team is split up when Bree and Chase join the EF)

-Bree is lesbian. When she started school she realised all of the girls always talked about boys and dated boys, she was desperate to fit in so she tried to force herself to go out with guys. That’s why she never had a long lasting relationship. None of them ever worked out. She’s dating Skylar now (I will get more into detail about that in future posts)

-Chase is bisexual. I absolutely love this hc. He thinks girls are really pretty, and blushes every time a girl has complimented him. But he thinks boys are very pretty too. He only really realised he likes boys too when he had to pretend to be Bree at that school dance with Bree’s boyfriend (?) at the time. I stand by Chaz (Chase and Kaz) being real. They were so in love.

-Leo is pan. He’s gender blind and doesn’t care about the gender of the person he is dating. It took him a while to find a label that fits but when he finally found one (after hours of research with Chase) he was ecstatic. He asked Taylor out when he realised how much he liked her but it turned out she was dating one of the female students in secret. Leo now has a crush on Logan but is still trying to figure out how to ask him out since he’s never been with a guy before and he has a lot of past internal homophobia he’s trying to work through.

-Last one for this post, there will be a lot more. Leo’s dad was abusive which is why Tasha left him. She was a single mother for a few years before deciding to start looking for another partner which is when she met Mr Davenport. She was very picky because she didn’t want the same thing to happen to her and Leo again.

So sorry for the extremely long post. I just have so much to talk about.

funny you say that...! i do actually have some designs i've drawn for a while of sig and des :-) i have ones for richard and jess and lucas too but i don't think about them too much so it isn't drawn as much. ANYWAY desmond and sigurd! here's some of the most recent colored drawings of them:

as far as headcanons go... sigurd to me gives off the energy of a short person who's tired of people not treating him equal because of it. thus his, well, shortness, and also his wider eyes and smaller pupils compared to desmond's. he's also got perpetually angry eyebrows, but moreso because i like to imagine it's a combination of RBF and an inability to express himself clearly. he's not super great with the computer, but also calls it old and janky (used to newer computers) so i assume he's a bit younger - as well as due to his writing style beyond the typos. younger like 20-30... somewhere around the range of his first "real job", yknow?

for desmond i see him as a much calmer person at heart, thus the taller stature and relaxed demeanor (as opposed to sigurd's wide dot-eyes and RBF). along with this calmer nature, i also see him to also be hiding his emotions more to keep the illusion of formality. thus the glasses that almost always obscure his eyes! at least i usually try to. despite my previous statement about the computers i feel like him and sigurd are around the same age... desmond just has that classic computer autism. win!

this one was difficult because a lot of my ocs have a very big soft side but i think luna is one of the few of them who's actually like. more than 95% soft. mostly because of the fact they're not a mercenary of some sort like most of my cyberpunk ocs LMAO luna is the one who patches everyone up after the gig is done and they're always so gentle with those around them even if they're complete strangers. that's how she met cassidy and by definition the rest of the gang too :^) throughout the entire story she remains a constant in everyone's life and despite all the horrible things that happen, not at any point does luna turn to the mercenary life themself. they have this very strong belief that they can make themself the most useful as a medic and as a friend, not as a fighter or an enemy

do you have any thoughts on how things like Autism and ADHD can play a positive and/or negative role in relationships and sexual interactions especially in the BDSM D/s dynamic?

Hi :)

I have ADHD, we used to think CD also had ADHD as he was diagnosed with it previously, but we recently learned he was misdiagnosed.

We both have some autistic traits, but I don't think either of us likely qualify for the diagnosis. I find development really interesting so I've sort of been interested in learning about autism since I was in high school...but I don't know nearly as much as many other people. Anyway, I know some about both but I only really have experience with ADHD so this will be more ADHD focused and any of the autism stuff should be taken with a grain of salt.

Some positives that come to mind:

Clear communication. I think people with autism and/or ADHD both tend to be more literal and direct rather than speaking vaguely or in metaphors. I think there is a lot of benefit to having really clear communication in kink or d/s. It just lowers the risk of miscommunication and can increase intimacy which can be a really awesome thing, too.

ADHD can come with hyperfocus which can make BDSM or D/s experiences really enhanced if they're super locked in to the experience.

Passion. Whether it's hyperfocus in ADHD or special interests in autism, both groups can be really passionate about the things they are interested in. If one of those interests or fixations is BDSM or D/s, they can do a really great job of researching thoroughly and learning a lot, which can lead to better educated and ultimately safer interactions and relationships.

The ability to fully "unmask" can be really healing. I think the nature of BDSM and D/s can allow people to be more "themselves" than they might feel they can be in other relationships or situations. With kink not really being the most socially acceptable thing, by exploring kink, we're sort of rejecting some of society's expectations for us. Instead of asking what our relationships 'should' be like or what our bedroom play 'should' include, we can instead ask ourselves what we want and what is healthy for us and so on, and customize our relationships and intimate interactions based on those. And I think taking that same basic idea of...I'm going to set my goals and expectations based on what I actually want, what really works for me/us, etc - is a really good way to approach life in general when you have neurodivergence. Or if you don't, haha. But especially if you do! Cause we can't fit in the neurotypical box. I've found a lot of healing through d/s this last year. I should write about that!

Some mixed:

Almost everyone with autism (google says 90%), and around 40% of people with ADHD, also have sensory processing disorder. Which has pros and cons in my mind. Because on one hand, if someone is sensory seeking in certain ways, BDSM may be a great way to get the sensory input they like or need. On the other hand, people with sensory issues may have more sensory related hard limits or triggers that need to be worked around.

Some negatives:

Lots of people with ADHD (and I'd think maybe autism as well?) have regularly been criticized for their shortcomings. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who had ADHD as a kid, especially if it wasn't diagnosed young, but probably even if it was - who don't have insecurities that were caused by unfair/unreasonable criticism. Although most everyone knows about ADHD, it's still not well understood. I was diagnosed at 13 or 14 but have just started to really understand what ADHD looks like for me this past year! For a long time I thought I was misdiagnosed because my experiences didn't mirror examples of ADHD that I had always seen/heard. Anyway, I feel like most people think ADHD means being hyper and not paying attention to the teacher in school, and "...squirrel!" right? but not everyone with ADHD has hyperactivity and even those who have the hyperactive type, often have a lot of other types of symptoms that most people don't recognize as being ADHD symptoms. Like sensory issues, memory issues, difficulty with task initiation, other forms of executive function, rejection sensitive dysphoria, impulsivity. And due to that lack of understanding and sort of...ableism, I guess, I think a lot of ADHD people have wounds related to being treated as if we chose to do things poorly or were careless, even though we did our best. Most of us have experiences of being criticized as if we were making immoral choices, when in reality we had shortcomings that we couldn't overcome on our own. And when you grow up experiencing that a lot, it seeps into your view of yourself and makes you insecure and sensitive to criticism. If you have that sort of wound, it can make D/s challenging because accepting respectful criticism or critiques are part of d/s on both sides of the slash.

Most people with ADHD experience rejection-sensitive dysphoria, similar to what I stated above. But yeah this can make it hard to accept criticism and not get defensive or overly hurt, which can make being submissive tough in some situations.

With SPD, that sometimes includes auditory processing issues which can make verbal communication more challenging. This could potentially be dangerous if a sub says the safeword and the dom has auditory processing issues and doesn't immediately process/understand what was said. In other situations it may just make communication harder.

I'm sure there's lots more, but hope this is a decent start. I'd love to see people with ASD or ADHD or both comment with their experiences. :)

30. Describe a fic that almost happened, but then it didn't

I have an old WIP about Lita being diagnosed with ADHD and Mick struggling to talk to her about it, because he’s never really accepted his own autism diagnosis. As I was writing it, this turned into a background-coldwave story where Lita and her dad go back in time and Lita meets Snart a few times without knowing it, undercover, and her dad only figures out who she was meeting right at the end, because he and Snart can’t meet face to face (something something time travel and destiny)… and as you can see there was *far* too much going on in that fic so I lost the thread. But I might revisit it and see if I can fix it. Maybe if I ever rewatch the Lita seasons of Legends.

I’ve been working on a Faith/Len thing (Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover) forever, where they’re friends with benefits who whine about the arsonist (and later the speedster) and Slayer they are totally not in love with, respectively, which may or may not see the light of day. That one is fun to mess with, when I’m in the mood for it.

There was also the one about masks - a collection of little episodes about why some of the Arrowverse characters do or don’t wear masks, which my therapist tried to make me finish when I was working on masking (the autistic kind) in therapy, and it was a lovely idea but god that fic did not work. I can’t find it in my WIPs now which is for the best :D

31. What was the most difficult fic for you to write (but in the end you made it)?

Usually it’s anything with Leonard Snart in. He is the worst to write (and yet I keep doing it). Moment of Truth was the most recent one that he made absolutely impossible - he was determined to be his worst self and be terrible to Mick and refuse to have feelings, the whole way through. I think it somehow turned out to be an okay fic despite this though :D

37. Do you research before writing or while you write? Is it fun or boring for you?

I do when I need to, and it’s so boring. I now know more than I ever wanted to about cracking safes, picking locks and getting out of handcuffs*. I regret all my life choices in deciding I was going to write about the Rogues a lot.

*That turns out to be basically impossible, certainly not by dislocating your thumb/fingers, although that’s kind of how I ended up having Iris do it anyway (in An Honest Thief) because I wanted to use that hypermobile Iris headcanon and mere facts were not going to deter me from this goal.

Summary: Wild and Warriors spar. Warriors learns something new about Wild.

Wild lowered his sword carefully. His muscles felt warm and he was breathing hard from the exercise. It felt good.

“Nicely done. You catch on quick,” Warriors said. 

Warriors was teaching Wild some sword drills at Wild’s request. Wild had gotten a vague memory of sword drills recently; he didn’t remember much detail, but he knew the repetitiveness of the exercise was calming. 

“Might be muscle memory,” Wild said with a shrug. “Plus, they’re patterns, which I’m good at.”

Warriors smiled. “That you are.”

Wild was about to sheath his sword when Warriors spoke again. 

“How about a spar?” Warriors asked. Wild looked up in surprise. 

“Spar?” Wild asked.

“Yeah, you know. Old-fashioned practice fight, man to man. We won’t actually hurt each other, but it’s good practice,” Warriors said. 

“Can it be man to person?” Wild asked. 

Warriors’ head cocked to the side. “What do you mean?”

“I’m not a man, so can the fight be man to person? Or is that against the rules,” Wild said. 

“You’re not… Wild, are you coming out to me?” Warriors asked. He lowered his sword and stepped closer to Wild. 

“Oh,” Wild said. He felt heat bloom across his cheeks and he knew his ears were going bright pink. He was so comfortable in his identity, and everyone in his Hyrule already knew. It must have slipped his mind to tell the others.

“I guess I forgot to mention that,” Wild said. He shook his free hand to get out the awkward feelings and began swaying side to side. 

“Have we been using the wrong pronouns? I’m sorry I ever offended you in any way,” Warriors said. 

“No, no, you’re fine. I still use he/him. I don’t feel any sort of connection to gender, and changing pronouns sounds too hard and scary, so I just use he/him,” Wild explained. 

“Are you sure? If you’re worried it would be too hard for us, don’t. It should be about whatever you’re most comfortable with,” Warriors said. 

Wild smiled and shook his head. “Trust me, I’ve thought about it a lot. Flora tried some others for me, and the change felt wrong. I use he/him, but I’m still not a man. Does that make sense?”

“Perfect sense,” Warriors said immediately. Wild felt his smile grow and a warm, happy feeling replace the tightness in his chest from the stress of having to explain his inner feelings. 

“I’m actually trans, too,” Warriors said. 

Wild perked up. “Really?” 

Warriors chuckled and nodded. “Sure am. Trans man,” Warriors said.

“Cool!” Wild said. Warriors chuckled again. 

“Now, how about that spar? Man to person,” Warriors said. 

“You’re going to regret this,” Wild said. He was only joking, which Warriors caught on to. Warriors bent his knees and got into an attacking position. 

“I don’t think so. You’re going down,” Warriors taunted jokingly. 

Wild brought his sword back up and easily fell into a stance his body remembered more than his mind did. He took a deep breath to center himself, then lunged forward into battle.
