BAHAHAHAHAHA!
Chris Hemsworth, please, honestly GO FUCK YOURSELF. LMAO.
Okay, so, listen, this is honestly going to be the last I ever talk about this, but the fact that I've been proven right about this jackasses involvement in this whole affair has got me laughing!
In 2017, or the year previous, who the fuck knows, Chris Hemsworth got his friend, Taika Waititi to direct Thor 3. Thor Ragnarok, which heavily diverged from the cinematography and the lore of the previous two Thor movies. Chris Hemsworth decided Thor was too boring. He didn't like playing him anymore. He wanted to play someone new and fun. He wanted to play himself. And he got just that.
I'll give Ragnarok enough credit, that aye, I might be fooled into thinking there was some interest the title character. But after Love and Thunder? No, now I know I've been fooled into watching a costume party by Chris Hemsworth, his family, and his friends. Ding ding ding! What do we have here, Johnny?
A bottom tier celebrity making a franchise that not only was all about him - his character, but all about him!!! He's playing himself!
His daughter at the end of Thor: Love and Thunder, is his daughter in real life (she's cute, no diss). His two sons played younger versions of him. His wife was a wolf woman he made out with! His best friends Matt fucking Damon and Taika Waititi both star in the role and the latter directs it.
I'm sorry, but at what fucking point did I sign up for a lazy written fanfiction? Because that's sure as hell not what I thought would happen in Thor 1 or 2, or Avengers. And you know, I am still mad, because I enjoyed the OG Thor, I enjoyed the OG Loki, and Marvel and, wow, did it not pay off.
Alas, it's on me for watching any new Thor films (aye, listen, I gotta family here!), but I just wanted to tell anyone who ever said Thor is a walking self insert nowadays. You are completely and utterly spot on.
Applaud yourself.

Have fun!

That perspective shot of them entering the shadow realm and you think they’re still a long way of from where Gorr is hanging out but then they straight up crash into the planet and you get hit with a goat scream

yes jane has cancer in the comics but instead of introducing her just to kill her off, she should have STILL taken the mantle as the one and only thor. we should have been told from the beginning how her story ends, that she’s going to die bc her body is failing her slowly, but her journey should have lasted MULTIPLE films. we would have taken it with her, knowing there will never be a happy end to her story, but enjoyed the time we had her. instead....... well. what was even the point if i’m going to be honest

so what you're telling me is that thor's pretty much a dilf now, right?
OHOHOHO this movie has driven me insane.
i've been thinking about this movie 24/7 ever since i left the cinema a week ago, i'm so glad it's finally out for most of the world now cause the brainrot was CONSUMING, let me tell you!!!
i probably got a couple details about love wrong, and for that i apologize. can she lift mjolnir? i can't remember but if she can't, let's all pretend she can for my own sanity's sake.

thor no longer having his dad bod and therefore losing the possible message of 'all bodies are worthy and strong' that could come with it vs. giving him an adorable snarky lil girl child with the powers of a god who loves him and fights with him vs. keeping my beloved Valkyrie out of the fight at the end vs. dr fosters entrance on a fucking pegasus surrounded by lightning vs. having jokes shoved down my throat every 10 seconds vs. the kids fighting with the power of thor (limited amount of time™) in the end in tutus and teddy bears vs. an obscene amount of korg in the movie to make his death emotional only to bring him back .3 seconds later vs. korg basically in gay love and copulating with Dwayne the Rock Johnson and so on and so forth we had it all lost it all had it all lost it all

I don't think Axl is trans. I think he just changed his name because he's now technically bicultural (Asgardian kid getting introduced to Earth culture). Not everyone who changes their name changes it because of gender identity. And if they were making Thor transphobic, why would they let him use Axl's preferred pronouns only to dead name him? He is calling him "he/him" the whole time, and calls him Heimdall's son. And Astrid is a bit of a gender neutral name. Also, Thor said something along the lines of "Your father gave you a strong Viking name." If he was telling Axl that he's a girl, he wouldn't have used those words. Plus, Thor isn't even the type to judge someone over something so regular. Also, the actor is a cis boy.
I think it's okay if you want to see Axl as trans because you like the representation aspect. But you also need to take the movie at face value, and there's nothing that suggests Axl is trans other than the fact that he changed his name. And even that isn't indicative of transitioning.
(Also, re names. On Umbrella Academy, Viktor changes his name obviously because he's trans. But the original name of the character is already a masculine name. Because the character was created by someone who just liked the way it sounded but didn't seem to know it was a masculine name. Or they did know, but just liked the way it sounded and used it anyway. So, just because you know Astrid as a feminine name doesn't mean that's how it's being used, here.)
Lastly, it's okay to headcanon Axl as trans but it's not okay to pretend it's canon and therefore Thor is transphobic because he "dead named" the character that you simply headcanon as trans.

okay, i admit that i went into “love and thunder” a little biased, because i had read the reviews that said it sucked ass, but girl... i didn’t expect it to suck ass this badly. it doesn’t feel like “a movie” so much as it feels like pieces of different movies stitched together in a half-coherent plotline?
the god butcher plotline...works. it works because it’s simple. the character itself has barely nothing in the way of development because he is very one-note, but considering the constant tone-shifts and mismatching vibes, he is the highlight of the whole thing. christian bale sweetie you were NOT paid enough to shave your eyebrows.
100% of the movie (that isn’t the god butcher stuff) is jokes, but... 85% (and i’m being generous) don’t land. almost every moment where it was supposed to be a “joke”, there was dead silence in my session. i heard one guy in the restroom saying that the movie was the second best marvel movie, after endgame, and considering endgame is a shitshow...yeah
the fight scenes are cool, but they are almost entirely cgi. i think all except for one in the omnicity, and even then....eh.
it definitely felt like both a sequel to ragnarok and a taika production, but in the worst ways. it took all the bad bits of ragnarok and made them doubled down on it. also it will be interesting to see their defense of how the russos “undid everything taika did”, when taika also ignored most of his own set ups.
i can see the stans will eat it up though, because valkyrie kissed a “zeuszette”’s hand and the rock monster got gay-married to another rock-monster (he was a dude because he had a moustache!). they did talk about valkyrie’s girlfriend and used the word girlfriend, so i guess that’s a step up!
things i liked:
- the scene where thor makes all the kids little thors
- the final scene with “love” and “thunder”
- the fact that they didn’t censor thor’s ass in the actual theatrical release
- brett goldstein as herkules
things that i didn’t like:
- valkyrie basically plays second fiddle the whole movie
- actually, remember how valkyrie was supposed to be a set up for thor’s love interest? never mind all that! thor has been, still is, and will always be in love with jane! she is, like the fandom wanted, just his lesbian bff!
- i don’t understand why they changed the gender of gorr’s child from boy to girl? it didn’t really add anything to the plot aside from tacking another OC daughter to one of the original avengers. but i guess if they made the kid a girl it would be more “sensitive”?
- i think it’s insane that in the comics, when jane is dying, she lost her hair, lost weight, and is basically a walking skeleton the more she uses mjolnir. in the movie - because women aren’t allowed to be ugly - she has.... bags under her eyes. that’s it. that’s literally it. maybe her cheeks are a little sunken in some scenes. she has stage four cancer, but you would never be able to tell just by looking at her. not even when she was dying she was allowed to be ugly
- the movie keeps the tradition of introducing a villain who is, by all accounts, in the right, never giving any kind of counter argument to them, and then just killing them off anyway. the gods in thor are shown to be petty, if not downright evil; they don’t care about their subjects, and they just use them to feed while the people who worship them suffer. there’s a brief argument that the gods are protecting the people, but that’s never really brought up to, like, try to change the guy’s mind! it was the same deal with thanos. why shouldn’t the god butcher kill off a guy like zeus? also why is an earth god the most powerful god in the universe, anyway?
overall, if this movie had been put in the hands of a director that could commit to give it the gravity it deserves, it would have been AMAZING. that director is not taika waititi. he’s good for comedy, but this was not a movie that worked as a comedy. hell, it barely even worked as a movie. if anyone was the god butcher, it was taika

Thor four spoilers, sort of
Okay they show Jane arrive in Valhalla and Heimdell welcomes her there but I want to see her to bump into Loki and be all ”The fuck are you doing here?!” And he’s like “You’re not the first person to ask me that.” B)
