I'm so tired of seeing things from my mother's point of view when she never attempts to understand mine.

So, the whole Buggy pop-up thing got me thinking. Not sure if this is a great idea but it won't leave me alone.
Obviously, the Buggy ad got a lot of hate, as is always the case when Tumblr decides to mess with the dashboard, and the fact that it's basically a creepy clown jumpscare for those who are not part of the fandom.
But for those who are into One Piece, or at least me, it was kind of an amusing ad? Something that's pretty in character for Buggy actually - pathetic and annoying, but generally harmless.
So what if there was a way to opt-in to this kind of advertising? How would that work? Well, obviously the target audience is the fandom. And how would one find this fandom?
Well, just a while back, we all claimed these neat straw hat badges for free, right? We can probably presume that anyone with these straw hat badges is a fan. Is it possible for the pop-up only for those with a straw hat badge? Idk, I'm not exactly knowledgeable in this area.
From here is just my optimistic imagination of how it'd shake out:
But assuming that you could, there would be a stir of people laughing at Buggy on their dash, equal parts amused and annoyed, but far less hate because fans know this character. They'd talk about it and laugh among themselves, maybe make a couple of memes about 'this fucking clown (affectionate)' on their dash.
And mutuals NOT in the fandom would get curious. What clown? There's no clown on their dash. I imagine something similar to Pikaman, where some people turned off their adblock just to see it for themselves, but in this case, they're all getting straw hat badges.
And those who hate clowns, well, they don't have to interact at all, right? They hear that if you get this badge, you get a creepy clown on your dash promoting some weird live action show adapted from an anime, and they go "fuck no, you weebs" and go on with their merry lives without ever having clowns on their dash.
Idk, it's probably optimistic at best. And idk if this is kind of targeted advertising is good. I know I wouldn't mind it, but my tolerance for such things is pretty high

I just rewatched the original Lilo and Stitch movie and honestly was not expecting to find out that Stitch has to be one of the biggest victims of a decade long flanderization.
I also forgot, and honestly I think most people, that stitch has so much character like he’s not just a ball of chaos, he's also very much a smart ass and makes jokes. And is angry and curious and a little bit of an asshole. You just don’t really get that in the live action or really most iterations of him. He’s reverted back to one.
Like Stitch in the movie is really smart. And he doesn’t just make noises as they will have you believe it’s actually pretty implied that he’s bilingual and was actively learning English (and not talking because Dog cover) and that’s why it was all stilted and kind of broken and unsure. He sounds much smoother and natural speaking in his alien language that Jumba understands. I don’t think the live action movie really got this.
And through out the movie he is not unstoppably causing chaos he’s just angry, confused, and curious and not gentle with things and so things just go wrong around him. The only thing he actively destroys out of a want to destroy is the mini San Fransisco he built and that was copying a movie scene he saw. Stitch destroys things because it’s how he knows to interact with the world around him by the end of the movie he does very little destruction and more just general goofing off (granted with a true lack of understanding on like property damage)
Hell Jumba goes good because he’s been observing Stitch and his struggles to become more than he was made to be. How stitch reacts in a situation where he can no longer perform his primary objective. Jumba pities him like a robot without a job but Stitch evolves to more than he was meant to be and it’s that evolution that flaw in his programming that allows Jumba to switch sides (even if it is played for laughs and never mind that despite his creations Jumba honestly was never even that bad a guy to begin with I mean obviously it’s a kids show but when Jumba lists Stitches objectives they are are inconveniences at best frustrating and mild property damage at worst)
But like the idea that like Stitch is actually just another burden that Nani would need to take care of is laughable when by the end of the movie it is explicitly shown him doing household chores. He makes their lunches escorts Lilo to the bus, bakes her birthday cake, does the laundry and does it well. Hell he practically even has a job. Never mind that Jumba and Pleakly are also there and also pitch in. Plus Cobra. Nani had so much support by the end of the movie that ofcourse she could continue to raise Lilo she wasn’t doing it alone.
The new ending just feels like the makers didn’t have faith in the original concept like they didn’t believe that anyone would believe that Lilo would be okay in the care of aliens we have to replace them with people or else it doesn’t make sense. It’s just weird like they didn’t trust the audience to garps that these silly little aliens are not in fact children that also need supervision but beings capable of taking care of lilo and contributing to the family. And honestly I don’t blame them because people did accept it. And it’s so fucking sad.
We’ve talked a lot about Nani, Lilo and Jumba and their blatant mischaracterization . But not enough about the flanderization of stitch and it’s just sad honestly.

The new Phineas and Ferb episodes are genuinely wonderful and capture that same joy and whimsy the original episodes did and i think this can fully be credited to the creators themselves approaching this with the idea of "its not a reboot, its a revival" they aren't starting from scratch trying to make it all work again, they're going 'great here's the next summer!' They even changed the theme song to say "theres another 104 days of summer vacation" this is being crafted with the care and love that it deserves its not a spinoff/reboot/cash grab to the creators its a chance to tell new stories with these characters the people love and it makes me so happy and so emotional

forever thinking about royal’s bad ending. my thing with it is that maruki doesn’t necessarily give anyone what they want most, he gives them what’s most appropriate for them to want within a maruki-approved framework. iirc there’s a really interesting text sequence in the game where he just straight up changes someone’s career because they’re not “good” at it, regardless of whether that’s what they actually want. why struggle at all? ever? right?
and so ultimately i don’t think goro akechi’s greatest wish is necessarily ren. i think it’s a wish for sure, but his greatest wish is his own agency. despite any regrets he has and the fact that shido and yaldabaoth treated him like a pawn, he's generally pretty adamant about owning his choices and their consequences. he doesn't want that erased. and instead, you end up with pleasant boy™ if you take maruki’s deal. maybe maruki (incorrectly) thinks sanding off all of akechi’s rough edges will make him easier for ren to love. but the crux of it is really that maruki has to essentially lobotomize him to preserve the illusion of his perfect reality, because their ideologies are so diametrically opposed that akechi would spend every waking moment fighting back.
this isn’t to undermine ren’s importance to akechi btw — he explicitly acknowledges that he wishes they had met earlier, and there are countless moments throughout their confidant that underscore how much it means to him that they mirror each other so well. he absolutely does want more time with ren, just not under these circumstances.
and that’s also what makes ren’s choice on 2/2 doubly devastating. he knows that either way he loses akechi. and if he takes maruki’s deal, he loses him knowing that his last moments with the real akechi involved the two of them being unforgivably out of sync.

Okay but like
In the lost pages of Journal 3 Ford mentions Bill disappearing for weeks or months at a time, which is kinda interesting to me
There are two ways we could interpret this.
1, is that these gaps in conversation were deliberate manipulation tactics planned by Bill. To leave long enough for Ford to feel worried and want him back. This does backfire a little when Ford has that jealousy outburst and accuses Bill of having other people to inspire. (Which is like. Ford are you hearing yourself-)
But ultimately the absences Bill leaves does more harm than good for Bill’s plans. I think if he was around MORE then Ford would’ve definitely become WAYYY more attached to him
Which is why there’s a second interpretation I have that I really like
2, the idea that Bill just. Lost track of time a lot between being Ford’s muse and doing other shit in the nightmare dimension. For one thing, Bill is canonically millions of years old in the context of Earth. He’s lived through so much time that it would be understandable if he didn’t quite grasp how much time he spent away from Ford. In the grand scheme of things Ford was only a blip in time compared to everything Bill lived through, what’s a few weeks amongst eternity?
Not to mention the Book of Bill confirms that Bill canonically dissociates, and it’s very common to lose chunks of time with dissociation. What if he dipped out of his consciousness in the times where he wasn’t with Ford? We don’t have any idea what Bill was doing between Ford visits. It’s so interesting to speculate
What if Bill still thought Ford was okay with him because he didn’t realize how long he was gone?

Inumaki Toge is the sweetest guy you know. He’s always so kind and courteous when he holds the door open for you first, or extends a warm palm to let you walk up the stairs in front of him. There’s so many sick, nasty freaks out there so you’re lucky to know a guy like him— even if he sends you terrible memes that he thinks are so funny (if you’re under nine maybe.)
But one afternoon you unlock your phone to see Inumaki’s sent you a photo. Assuming it’s another shitty meme from the first text he sent “saw this and thought of you.”
And you have no idea that he’s now freaking out on the other side of the phone because instead of sending you the hilarious alpha wolf meme that he’s just found on Pinterest, he’s sent you the last photograph in his camera roll— the photo he’d just taken a few hours earlier when you were leaving your favourite bakery.
A photo of his camera angled perfectly beneath your short skirt (almost as though he’s done it before) with an obvious peek of the baby pink panties that you’re still wearing right now.
Because how the fuck is he going to explain this to you—

It's so funny to me watching my mother react whenever I say I'm getting treatment for an issue that I've had since childhood
"Why didn't you tell me? 🥺"
Ma'am you don't really care about me as much as you think you do.

Nikolai and Price going to an evening game of poker with some of Nik's "friends", John sitting with his guard up as he's surrounded by a group of dangerous international criminals, all of them carrying guns, all of them glancing at him with a curious look. Price is uncomfortable but doesn't show it, while Nikolai is awfully relaxed considering the situation.
The evening goes on, drinks, cigars and hearty laughs are shared around the table, the bets reaching numbers Price doesn't even make in half a year. It would be a problem, if he wasn't winning most of the rounds, piles of cash gathering around him as he feels the tension build in the room. One of the younger guys, another russian speaker, starts getting an attitude about it around two hours in, and Nikolai immediately puts him in his place with a single sentence Price doesn't understand, his voice booming, as intimidating as he could be, a heavy silence falling inside the room as the lad with an attitude sits back down, eyes not even daring to look at Nik. The silence is only broken by Nik again, a warm laugh leaving his lips and the other men joining him, their nervousness barely hidden.
It had been so easy for Nik to command the room, and even after the tension had diminished, Price could see how much respect these men had for him, while also clearly being scared shitless of the man. Price had rarely felt more attracted to him as he did at that moment, and the wink and smirk Nikolai gave him when he noticed him looking in his direction absolutely did not help.
John eventually left the table, excusing himself for a moment but squeezing Nik's hand briefly as he got up, moving deeper in the building they were using for their game.
A minute later and it's Nik's turn to excuse himself, quickly finding Price who immediately grabs him by the collar of his open shirt and presses his lips against his, Nik hungrily returning the kiss and pushing John against a nearby wall.
When they return to the table, hair tousled, face flustered, all it takes is one glance from Nikolai to shut the others up. This is his territory, this is where he's comfortable, surrounded by dangerous men who show him respect and never dare to cross him.
It's easy for John to forget how natural this all is for his partner, and if Nikolai brought him here tonight to assert his dominance and show off a little, just so he could impress John, well, that mission sure was a success.

I think a major point that the live action completely misses and honestly a lot of people haven’t brought up. Is that in the original Nani WANTS Lilo around. Yes because Liko needs her and no one else understands Lilo like she does. But also because Nani needs Lilo just as much as Lilo needs her. Lilo was just as much all Nani had left same as Lilo. And to just not acknowledge that. To pretend like Nani stayed with Liko just out of some grander sense of responsibility and it’s “what she’s supposed to do” is to throw away their sisterhood.
The whole live action is Lilo talking about how smart and kind and amazing Nani is and how she has all these dreams and how she was really good at all these things until Lilo. Not once does it seem like Nani is even interested in Lilo or her hobbies outside of her responsibly to look after her as her older sister. She doesn’t care that Lilo’s been kicked out of hula class even tho Lilo in the OG loves hula, she immediately wants to take stitch back to the pound and then goes on a whole tirade about how you can’t let Lilo “trick” you into doing all these things, she doesn’t care when Lilo tries to show her the Elvis CD trick, She not there surfing with Lilo cause it’s an enjoyable pastime and something she loves and wants to share with her sister she’s there because it’s her new job.
Through out the movie Nani is part of the people that make Lilo feel ostracized which is completely antithetical to the original movie where Nani is fighting so hard to make the world a place Lilo feels accepted in.
So no the movie didn’t need to be a one to one remake of the original but it shouldn’t be a completely different movie either because then what’s the fucking point!!!
In this version I’m not even convinced that Nani actually LIKES Lilo.
And honestly the film doesn’t try and convince you that she should. Lilo is indistinguishable from any other movie child that is either a bundle of destructive chaos or just a mini adult both played for jokes.

i know it’s a common thought that it takes a while for phantom to really hone in on his element when he comes topside, but what if he’s immediately very good at using his element and is even one of, if not the most, powerful quint the ministry has ever summoned?
phantom finally feeling useful topside, getting to use his element to help.
working in the infirmity, picking up extra shifts, volunteering when he can.
countless hours spent in rehearsal rooms practicing until his fingers bleed, and then some because he’s a quint after all, he can just heal himself and go on.
helping out in the greenhouses and during ministry services.
healing his pack when they’re hurt, soothing aching muscles and joints, fighting off anxieties and night terrors.
anything to feel useful. anything to have a purpose.
that is until he physically can’t anymore. can’t wring out any more quintessence from his fatigued body. can’t drag himself out of bed or… anything.
and just like a star, he’s burnt out
