Phantom Manor - Disneyland Paris
A recreation of Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris, functional as a haunted house residential. Be welcomed into the foyer by the phantom himself before visiting Melanie Ravenswood dressed for her wedding but trapped within in her own bedroom. I built this lot in Strangerville as it was a perfect backdrop for the Thunder Mesa and Big Thunder railroad. Perhaps your Sims can break the curse of the Thunderbird and survive this haunted abode.

What if Disney have phantom of the opera, the werewolf, literature of pride and prejudice,
So Disney does/did have a couple of Phantoms already!
The most famous one currently is the vile ghost of Henry Ravenswood, the eponymous phantom of Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris.
Tumblr media
His wiki reads as such: Henry Ravenswood was a transatlantic American man born in 1795. In 1849 Henry established the Big Thunder Mining Company and the town of Thunder Mesa near Big Thunder Mountain after finding gold there and stealing the land from the Shoshone indigenous peoples.
He moved into a grand manor on the highest hill overlooking the town alongside his wife, Martha, and his daughter, Mélanie, whom he was overly protective of. Henry was an obsessive and disciplinarian who believed no man was ever good enough for his Mélanie, and any would-be suitor who believed otherwise perished at his hands
When Ravenswood passed, he was reborn as the malevolent Phantom - a deranged skeletal figure who haunted his old manor.
The day of Mélanie’s wedding, he lured her groom into the attic and violently hung him from the rafters. When Mélanie refused to believe her groom would abandon her so she stayed behind the mansion, waiting for him to return. The Phantom tormented her till the end her days, mocking her for her devotion. After Mélanie's own demise, he continued to torment her and the manor became home to many infernal spirits summoned by their resident clairvoyant.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A thoroughly rotten figure as you can see.
Beyond him though, Disney once had a walk about character in the parks based on the Lon Chaney version of the character
Tumblr media
The musical was honored in the French pavilion at Epcot in 2020
Tumblr media
And there’s a “roastie-toastie” popcorn machine by the Haunted Mansion that features him as well x)
Tumblr media
As for werewolves, the painting called “The Arsonist” in the Haunted Mansion was originally meant to shift and reveal him as a werewolf, so there’s definitely an interesting story going on there!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, per Pride and Prejudice, turns out there’s a children’s picture book of Mickey Mouse and Friends of just that xD

The Florist and The Curse
"Do you really want me to hit you again?" Jimmy asked, standing on the terracotta mound, as the grass bled into the mesa. His arm was on his hip, chin jutting out proudly, with his other hand resting at his his side holding the hilt of his sword.
"I mean, you only did, like, a heart and a half of damage," Scott said with a shrug. He wasn't scared of Jimmy, no matter what the Red Life tried. He knew Jimmy for what he had been and who he is now; a kind, loyal and energetic man with room in his heart for everyone yet no one at all. "After all that-"
"Do you really want me to hit you again?" Jimmy repeated, more sternly this time. A muscle in his jaw ticked.
"-effort." Scott finished.
"You really want me to try again?" His voice grew deeper, slightly confused but remained firm and threatening.
"I mean, is your task to just hurt me? I'm so confused." Scott blurted out. "Also by shouting a weird catchphrase of 'the florist is gonna get me."'
"Yeah?" Grinning, Jimmy edged a little closer. There was a hazardous tone to his voice that set Scott's nerves on edge. He couldn't help it.
"You have thirty seconds."
The memory of the previous game left a bitter taste in his mouth. Obviously Martyn deserved the win. That was never in doubt. But being stabbed in the chest, then burned alive by his closest ally was not on Scott's bucket-list.
Nor was having Jimmy betray him like that. But, ah well.
He moved on.
Scott hadn't, cursed with too many memories and burdened with pain, blood and remembrance.
"Okay." Scott said. He gently tapped his heels against the horse's sides, urging it a little back. "I- is that your name, The Florist?"
"N- no? Dunno what you're talking about." Jimmy tilted his head like a puppy, his hair falling over his eyes. The usual honey brown was rimmed with bloody red.
"Oh, 'kay, okay." His horse moved further back, at his own insistence.
"Watch your back, Scott, alright? Watch your back." Jimmy warned.
Scott didn't stick around much longer after that.
---
He watched Lizzie fail to kill him. He knew it from the moment she tried to have him step up to the ledge; it was obvious from how her voice was pitched, the tone, the way her hands seemed to twitch urgently at her sides.
Scott hadn't thought she would fall. Maybe trip a little, get hit by an Enderman.
But not fall.
He heard the crackling of the lightning bolt and looked away as it struck at the empty Void, the space where Lizzie had fallen. In her memory and honour, Scott listened to the rolling boom of the thunder that followed.
Jimmy's curse was gone.
The Canary Curse was broken.
He felt something bubble in his throat, a hoarse laugh of joy and pain mixed together in a horridly lovely cocktail. He thought of how Jimmy would react to it. He thought of the shocked widening of his eyes and how his mouth would fall a little. He imagined the shocked huff of breath, pursued by hysteric giggles as he ran forth and proudly declared the curse gone.
Scott was happy for him, truly.
...He still had questions about the whole 'florist' thing, but at least Jimmy had lost his curse.
It was an odd feeling, when it happened. Scott looked fondly upon the last game because of the tether that had snapped when he'd died; the knowledge that the curse was broken, that he'd no longer have to live until all his allies and friends were gone, that the weight had finally been lifted, had relieved him.
He had laughed and smiled and actually felt happy for the first time in years.
Two curses down. Now to break the rest of them.

Archons will raise the dead to swarm you, but Nira is not the only one to call thunder.
based off another headcanon of mine where my Drifter wasn't the only one who got an upgrade This was meant to be a simple doodle of my Drifter and her Mesa kicking butt, but I had too much fun with the lighting/background when it wasn't even supposed to have one xD

Some positive Alistair headcanons
I haven't shared these here yet.
How I interpret and write mortal Alistair is different from how I write him as a ghost. The way that ghosts work is the things that bound them to this earth simplify their existences. For Alistair, he is bound by revenge and a selfish desire to feel powerful.
When Alistair was mortal, he was more complex. He formed friendships, he enjoyed pastimes, and he had favorite weather. That part of him I've been exploring and writing more on my own.
His favorite weather is snow and cold. The cold makes him feel alive, and the snow drowns out the sound of people. He likes to go outside and sit on the bench, his cane across his lap, and enjoy it.
His favorite time of day is night and early morning. He wanders the halls, carrying a light, the thud of his cane echoing. He likes this time despite his servants being asleep. He likes the moon and the stars outside. When the sky lightens he bangs his cane louder, and this is the sign for everyone to awaken.
He likes to be out in the woods with Henry Ravenswood. There are times they just sit together and talk. Alistair has told Henry things he's never told anyone. His usual mocking and amused tone vanishes as he tells him about his past. But he also tells Henry about his daily life. The funny thing that happened the other day, the festival in town, and other stories that come to mind. Henry listens to him, sometimes while he sketches. Alistair's one of the few who gets to see.
Alistair has a strong bond with Henry Ravenswood. They became friends, and over time Henry came to call Alistair his son and so he became an honorary Ravenswood. Alistair is eternally grateful for the acceptance and kindness he's been shown. He had a gold nugget from the mine in Thunder Mesa turned into a pocket watch, which he gifted to Henry. It has a train engraved on it, referencing the railroad. Henry was so overcome with gratitude that he hugged Alistair. Alistair pretty much expected that to happen, so he didn't pull away. He just enjoyed the embrace. Henry carries the pocket watch everywhere and it's his favorite fiddle toy when he's stressed or deep in thought.
Alistair's life is mostly chaotic. He is busy almost every single day, doing business, organizing events, travelling, and instructing his staff. The calmer moments are all the more special to him.

okay okay so i’ve been listening wayyy too much We Don’t Talk About Bruno. I can’t help but listen to all English, Spanish and Filipino version (im so surprised i didn’t cringe at Filipino dub?? they all sounded so close to the original voices and the singing voice is damn impressive)
The differences in mixing is interesting! Here’s what I’ve noticed (focusing only on the final verse):
We Don’t Talk About Bruno
Official audio and the audio in the movie have different mixing.
Official Audio:
There’s no moving pans. Everyone’s on the exact same pan where they began.
Pepa on the right, Felix on left.
Camilo on left-center (-20 or so).
Dolores on far left.
Isabela on right-center (+20 or so).
Movie Audio:
PEPA & FELIX
(“It was my wedding…”) Felix is on the left pan. Pepa comes from right pan then glides over to left pan when she and Isabela held hands and Pepa moved stage right.
(“Bruno walks in…”) Pepa is back on right pan but more center, somewhere +10 probably.
(“Thunder!”) Felix is on far right pan now.
(“You telling this story..”) Pepa is on center now.
(“I’m sorry, mi vida…”) Felix is back on far left.
(“Bruno says it...”) Pepa and Felix comes from far left slowly panning to right, matching their animation moving from stage right to left.
ISABELA
(“The life of my dreams...”) Isabela is all over lmao. She starts on left pan (-30) then pan max left as she exits stage right. Then when she and Pepa switched stage sides, Isabela’s track pans very fast to the right.
(“My power would grow...”) She’s back on left pan (-30).
(“He told me…”) She’s on right pan now.
(“And I’m fine…”) She pans further to the right (+40 or so). But on the last “I’m fine”, she pans fast to the left (-20) as her animation also move stage right.
CAMILO
(Camilo’s 1st Stanza) Camilo is on right pan (+40 maybe)
(Camilo 2nd Stanza) Camilo is on left pan now (-40 or so).
DOLORES
(Dolores rap) Dolores is very hard to hear but she very slowly pans from far left (-40 to -50) to center-right (+20 or so) until her rap ends.
(Dolores Verse 2) Dolores stays on right pan.
Overall:
(“Time for dinner!”) Pepa and Julieta are on left and right on both official and movie audio.
The original version is second best in balancing. Dolores is very hard to hear, took me many replays to hear her clearly. Isabela’s “I’m fine” also went over my ears until I heard the stem tracks. Pepa and Felix’s audio dominates most of the first verse.
No Se Habla De Bruno
Official Audio: Same positions as the English and Filipino version. Doesnt move.
(“A la mesa!”) The voices are on center and right pan.
Everyone is perfectly balanced imo. No one is overpowering one another. Amazing! Better than the original.
Movie Audio: Has the exact same panning as the English and Filipino version.
(“A la mesa!”) The voices are separated far left and far right.
Camilo is noticeably quieter all throughout than in the official audio.
Overall:
imo the Spanish version has the best balancing out of the three. You can hear everyone very clearly, especially Dolores whose track is often too buried under in other versions (even the original).
On the final harmonizing “Don’t talk about Bruno” line, they seem to back up the voice actors with choir and it seems to have more wider acoustics on it in the movie audio but not in the official audio? Unless it was super nerfed in the official audio.
Wag Ikuwento si Bruno
Official Audio:
Same positions as the English and Spanish version. Doesnt move.
(“Hoy ang mesa!”) Pepa and Julieta are both on center and the voices that harmonize are on the far left and far right - which is not good imo bc (1) the harmony is too spread out; (2) there’s not much difference in timbre between Pepa and Julieta and they’re both singing the main melody so the center is overpowering and monotonous.
Camilo and Felix are loudest, Pepa’s track is more quiet than Isabela. Dolores’ track is super muddy but can be heard in the first repeat of the final chorus, but on the second repeat, she is as loud as Camilo and Isabela’s track while Pepa and Felix are subdued.
Movie Audio:
Has the exact same panning as the English and Spanish version.
(“Hoy ang mesa!”) Pepa and Julieta’s voice is separated on left and right, but the left side is louder than the right. But it’s so much better than the official audio because they’re on stereo with the harmonizing voices instead of clashing in center.
Felix, Pepa and Isabela are the loudest all throughout. Dolores can’t be heard at all start-to-finish, and Camilo is quieter than in the original and Spanish version.
Overall:
The worst balancing out of the three imo. Dolores’ track is practically non-existent (except maybe the Official Audio, at least she sounds better there).
However, I like this version’s final harmonizing “Wag Ikuwento si Bruno” better than the English and Spanish. I like that the higher register seems to be heard more, and generally the way it was sung felt more powerful.
I also want to note that in Camilo’s verse, Dolores’ last “We don’t talk about Bruno” is noticeably very quiet; I thought it wasn’t sung until I amped up the volume.
Conclusion!
I assume they have like an official guide or notes for how they did the panning for both the official audio and the movie audio. Maybe because the panning had to follow the character animation on where they move on screen so the audio experience matches the visual.
But they didn’t seem to have an official guide on mixing and balancing, probably because of different recording equipment and studio environments.
My ranking based on balancing and mixing:
Spanish
English
Filipino
My ranking based on best harmony:
Filipino
English
Spanish
These rankings also remains the same for other songs (yeah i listened to them all). If a music student or professional comes across this post, I might’ve used incorrect terminology and analyzed the panning incorrectly, so I don’t mind being corrected!
alr yapping’s over

FFXIVWRITES 2024 - Day 1 - STEER Incomplete ---- 742 words ----- Notes: DID NOT EXPECT TO POST THESE NOW but the submission works differently than I thought it would.
editor's notes: the first day is just proving that I can make something like this exist.
Angeline Carax's focus had a weight of its own sometimes. That was according to the family mythology - so heavy that it would slip out of her head and roll onto whatever had caught it, drawn up and absorbed like honey on the tongue. "I'd like to savor it just as much," Angeline said when she was finally able to, which was far too late for it to have mattered, "but the connection seems made to be broken."
Many things are, her mother Wisteria commented drolly. The resulting argument was as tedious as it had been familiar, a long time ago. Distant now, very nearly sweetly so.
It made her lip twitch into a light smile, even as that weighty focus now had caught and spread across the expanse that unrolled before her - Shaaloani, Tural. She had just traced a path through it to reach this vantage point, one she could fancy she could still trace, and her steed's sides huffed in regular rhythm beneath her as Cinnamon caught his breath after the invigorating climb.
Taking in the fabric of each plain, mesa, prarie, meadow, scrubland, wash - if she could go into it deeply enough, she'd be satisfied. As it stood, just staring would have to suffice, though even that at the wrong moment could prove to be costly.
Cinnamon's ears flicked up first before a deep rumbling made the clasps on the saddle and its attached bags clink. With a little gasp Angeline came to, her fluffy curls bouncing beneath her hat as she shook herself back to herself. The rumbling had grown so intense stones around them leapt like tossed coins and Cinnamon shifted nervously, whinnying.
At once, Angeline tightened her thighs around him and clicked her tongue, that heavy focus falling together in a single point with the weight of a black hole. It swept in a ray at the rocky outcropping, and at her whistle she rocked forward as the same time Cinnamon surged. For an instant an impossibility of horse and rider on uneven land flipped the stomach, but with the flexing and twisting of his supple muscles beneath his skin Cinnamon spilled down the scrub ridge As sure-footed as if he had magnetized horseshoes.
The ridges mellowed out quickly, and the slow build up of gravity gathered exponentially like a bowling ball dropped into a halfpipe - Angeline stood in her stirrups to crane her head as finally she could get a glimpse of a huge dust cloud sweeping in off to her right. /Rrhoneeks?/ she thought furrow-browed - deeper still in the distance small figures were running and waving their arms, only one other similarly mounted and, as was easy to presume by the wail unfurling from them like a banner across the plains, out of their depth.
A broad grin spread across Angeline's face beneath the flopping brim of her hat, eyes devilishly shadowed, and she dropped flat across Cinnamon's back as she kicked him up into a full gallop and set them both on a comet-like arc toward the herd.
The miqo'te on the [horse] slowed its gallop as she caught and lost her breath - she lifted her hat and wiped her brow with her forearm, leaving it resting there as she squinted in surprised relief as the rhoneek herd funneled and then stretched out along the comet's trail. With a sharp HUT she replaced her hat and kicked off to hold up the other side.
The thundering of the rhoneek's hooves rattled toward their home pasture - replaced by the young cowpoke's fervent thanks, and to please not mention this overmuch, especially when her uncle was in earshot. "Mention how well you ride? Now why wouldn't I share that?" was all Angeline said in reply with a conspiratorial grin. "These things happen. Nothing days."
"Nothing happening," the girl replied, returning a fanged one of her own.
Angeline's final assessment: "Yes. You'll be just fine."
The sun was setting as Angeline trotted Cinnamon back to town, passing another miqo'te perched - or rather poured - across a fence, cheeks resting on both fists.
When she approached, the weight of her focus made his tail flick. "Need any help there, sir? You're looking mighty flushed," Angeline affected in a long drawl, her giggles disrupting her good ol' college try at the local accent. His look of astonished delight made the attempt more than successful.
"Wh- why - I - well - " he was laughing too hard and quickly abandoned his own attempt at a high coquettish reply

This video comes from a DVD that was offered as a gift in Kellogg's cereal boxes in 2004. There were 4 of them about Disneyland Paris, its backstages and its stories. One of them was entierely about the story of Thunder Mesa and Phantom Manor. According to millenials fans, this was an entrance gate into the fandom for many of them. A small piece of History.

Ever since the start of empires s2 ive been thinking about what terraria bosses each member would be and im still unsure about some but i think i got most of them
Starting with Gem i went with Golem. Queen bee or Empress Of Light would have worked but i think golem works best since the whole jungle temple and golems drops are related to the sun.
For Kathrine i went with Empress Of Light, Queen Slime could have worked aswell. Even though Empress Of Light is harder to fight during the day i still think it fits.
Joey Graceffa is Duke Fishron its very similar he has an ocean themed empire i could have gone with the flying Dutchman because i am including mini bosses but bht duke fishron just fits better, plus i get to draw him as a cool ass fuckin pig fish.
Scott would probably be the Lunatic Cultist and i dont have any actual reason i just think he'd look cool as em also no other boss would fit him. Thsi does kinda make it seem like he worships Joel(because i made him Mood Lord) but eh.
Falsesymmetry would be Skeleton Prime maybe a steampunk version of it? I remember seeing a terraria mod that added a steampunk hardmode version for the rest of the prehardmode bosses. The four arms could either be the exact same as skeleton primes or they could just have hands.
Lizzie's one is the one im really unsure about i picked Queen Bee but it doesn't really fit and its the only animal themed boss.
Sausage i picked the Pumpking i could have gone with one of the tree mini bosses but do you think i wanna give him a mini boss named morning wood? But ya Pumpking would work because you know nature n shit.
Shelby's one doesn't make too much sense, i went with Plantera mainly because of the pink flowers in her mc skin but thats kinda it, the only other thing i could have gone with are the goblin  summoner but that doesn't really count as a mini boss. I might switch Sausages and Shelbys around because either one will fit them.
If i included modded bosses then Jimmy would have been the Desert Scourge(calamity mod) or The Grand Thunder Bird(thorium mod) but im not including modded bosses so im going with Skeleton, the dungeon usually spawns near the ocean so its the closest we get to a desert/mesa boss. The old sheriff could also be the old man that spawns at the surface of the dungeon.
Fwhip would be the eater of worlds it just makes sense, The Eater Of Worlds is(usually) spawned underground AND it burrows through the ground.
Oli being Betsy doesn't fit too much but there isn't any other boss taht would fit, i originally had the pillers as him but didn't think they'd fit and also his child Gregory the dragon egg would fit with him being Betsy(i made the list of what terraria boss each empires member would be at ages ago, before Oli's final lmao)
Joel is just the Moon Lord its the closest thing in terraria to a god thats the only reason i picked that boss for him. now if you drew him as the Moon Lord would you draw him with or without his legs?
Pixlriffs is The Brain Of Cthulhu i love The Brain Of Cthulhu and when you think of a brain you think of being smart n shit so i gave them to pixlriffs
And bonus Hermes would be one of the pillers id say either the vortex piller or the nebula piller

*home on the range starts peacefully and slowly playing on a harmonica. Slow fade in from black to shot. Shot is framed looking at the back of a man with a poncho and wide brimmed cowboy hat. Both are dusty from the road. He is leaning on a post, part of a fence in front of a small wooden building. A voiceover, presumably the cowboys, with a thick, rough, gravelly country accent, begins to speak. His tone is wistful and sentimental*
America. Land of the free. Home of the brave. Where the deer and the antelope play. All of that, and yet so much more... Like my home. My home is out on the plains, down in the valleys, across the rivers, and over the lands of the endless sky. I roam across all of them, basking in my freedom of mind, body, and law. I have no permanent home... Yet if I had to say where home was for me, well, the only thing I could say is just... America.
*As the monologue progresses, the camera slowly zooms in and rotates to reveal the scenery behind him, as well as his face. The man has light stubble, and eyes shaded by his hat. A view of the landscape behind him reveals that he's on a grassland mesa, overlooking a system of canyons.*
And yet... I hear foul thunder on the horizon. The rabble and din of folk who live here, and yet don't seem to appreciate the values that make America our home. Folks who claim to love this great country, yet spit foul poison to corrupt our minds, and these great lands.
*His face now in full focus, the cowboy takes a long draw from his hip flask.*
They're saying wicked things. Things like.... It's useless creampieing a femboy. Twinks can't get pregnant. It doesn't matter where the seminal fluid ends up when it's between two men.
*The cowboy looks disheartened while saying this, and his head gently tilts, casting the shadow of his hat over his face. A single.tear can just barely be seen in his cheek.*
I would like to say it makes me angry, but.... It simply makes me sad. That people would claim to love this great country, and not respect it's values.
Now I've learned a thing or two on the lonely road. I've seen the sunrise from the Rockies, overlooking the plains to the East. I've seen the first snow to dust the pines on the foothills of Montana, and the fading purple of the twilight in the New Mexico desert. The red of the sands in Arizona, the strength of the mighty Columbia river, the windswept plains of a North Texas field. And it changes you. It gives you a little wisdom.
*a twinkle forms in his eye. He takes another deep swig.*
So from one cowboy to another, I pass along this solemn message: keep breeding that Twink. It's not just something you do for yourself, but for your legacy, the ideals of freedom, the twink themselves... And of course, your country.
*as the monologue concludes, a new person enters the frame. He's shorter than the cowboy, with sandy blonde curls down to his shoulders and vibrant hazel eyes, sticking out against his tanned brown face. A slightly smaller cowboy hat adorns his head. His shirt is plaid, tied in the center to reveal a soft yet somewhat toned stomach, leading to the top of a leather belt. It's holding up what used to be well worn jeans, but are now cut off at the thigh to form short shorts, revealing soft thighs and long legs that plunge into calf high leather boots. The two men embrace, and share a passionate kiss. The voiceover continues.*
God bless America.
*The kiss ends. The first cowboy looks at the camera, winks, and pulls his boyfriend off screen. Fade to black.*
