Of course I'd love to see some of Bernard's cocky personality from the Robin (1993) run in Tim's new solo, but like, all of his appearances since urban legends till now have been focused on Tim's perspective of him and how he makes him feel safe and comfortable, and while I love that I do believe there's potential for him to challenge Tim in a healthy way, since in a way, he represents a point in Tim's life when things were a little simpler right before everything turned to shit, so it'd be interesting to see Tim coming to terms with the fact that this is a person who has changed since he's last seen him and that growth and change is a good thing which could lead to him growing out of the Robin mantle. Damn, that'd be really good I think

"I nearly went out of state for college," Bernard says over tapas and Tim nods.

"I was going to go to Ivy University," he offers. "It kinda fell through."

Bernard grimaces and nods. "I actually did go to OSU for a semester and a half. But it was…"

"It was weird. It's so quiet everywhere else. Quiet and reasonable! No one sees morning mist and thinks it's gas, or ducks and covers when a car backfires, or worries when the ground shakes from a passing truck, or—"

"Yeah," Tim says, covering Bernard's hand with his own. "I get you."

Happy anniversary, Tim Drake and Bernard Dowd!

On August 10, 2021 in Batman: Urban Legends #6, Tim Drake and Bernard Dowd started their relationship. After saving Bernard as Robin, Tim had several realizations about his life. He goes to Bernard’s house to explains to him that he was relieved that Bernard was safe. He tells him that he would like to figure out what “that night” meant to him. Bernard simply answers that he was hoping Tim would then asks Tim out on a date. This moment highlights a major plot point in comics for the future. Tim Drake is the first LGBTQ+ Robin. This storyline and its continuation is a remarkable feat for representation in comics. The fact that it has endured for this anniversary to be celebrated has made it all the more valuable. Hopefully, they will remain happy and healthy in their relationship for many more anniversaries to come!
