THE TRAILBLAZING HERRSCHER (REDUX)
SLIGHT BACKSTORY INFORMATION:
After the events of Honkai Impact 3rd, in which Kiana sacrificed herself to seal Honkai on the Moon, Melanie had been left to wander the multiverse alone again. Because there had been no changing Kiana's mind on how it should be done, Melanie was forced to say goodbye before the two of them married. She returned home, only to be called a murderer when she tried to save her friend's life ( @teatheteal ) and be forced to leave her homeworld forever.
After a stint in the Red World, bringing both Téa and Xellos with her after everything was said and done, Melanie's passive Causality Manipulation put them in the path of the Trailblazer, Dan Heng, March 7th and Himeko. Assisting them in heading to the Astral Express, they were stopped by the Doomsday Beast that had arrived at the station.
When the Trailblazer's Stellaron overloaded, Welt Yang had put a stop to it. Because of prior history, Melanie was able to recognize him (despite the fact he looked a tiny bit different than before) and he was able to recognize her. Given an offer to board the express, she accepted and boarded the train alongside the others.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
Melanie is a Path of Destruction character who uses the Imaginary Element. She mainly uses a scythe in combat, and combines with a being named "Kanra" during the Herta Space Station route. Because of how unique she is, Melanie has different forms of fighting and Ultimates depending on the worlds visited.
HERTA'S SPACE STATION sees Melanie using a scythe with her Ultimate being "The End", the Reaper Limit Break from FFXIV. Her skill is "Enshroud", which allows her to combine with "Kanra" and increases the power of her attacks. Using her skill again ends the Enshroud effect.
JARILO-VI sees Melanie using Bajiquan/Jeet Kune Do and her Ultimate is Subspace Lance, which targets a single enemy for a lot of damage.
XIANZHOU LUOFU sees Melanie using her scythe yet again, but her Ultimate is G-Warrior Manifestation, using the powers of Reason to manifest the G-Warrior and board it. With this Ultimate, Melanie pilots the G-Warrior and uses it in combat until combat is over. The G-Warrior's Ultimate is Saberlight, in which it deals several damaging blows to an opponent. While in the G-Warrior, Melanie cannot have status effects applied.
Melanie's personal Light Cone is called "Symphonic Dreaming", which is a Destruction-type Light Cone. It increases Melanie's ATK and SPD each turn she's alive in combat, making her a force to be reckoned with.
#★ trailblazing herrscher ( honkai star rail )#(( as always; none of this will be forced on anyone rping the characters ))

Empire Names and Meanings Redux
Ancient and Divine Animals
Noble Creatures and beasts are the true forms of the Souls, the grand spirits and other such incredible beings.
Land Predators
The powerful and deadly creatures of the world. Some of these names include words from the pre-connection era of the world.
Amphibians and Reptiles
Admittedly predominantly a collection of snakes.
General Aquatic
A small list of names for now but the things of the sea that don't quite fit with the fish and can't be merged with other words.
Freshwater Fish
A small collection of commonly eaten and popular fish that grow inland in ponds and streams.
Saltwater Fish
Names that usually lean towards cats of great size and more exotic fish.
Crustaceans and Mollusks
All the shelled critters whose names usually evoke a sensation of defensiveness and protection.
Raptors
The most powerful and deadly birds known to the world of strelles - commonly seen in the myths and tales of the Souls. WindClan even proclaims that they're equally as sacred to the Skulks/
Seed Birds
Birds are an extremely popular choice for names - their variety of patterns and behaviors provide a sufficient amount of variety for the clans.
Water Birds
With birds being so popular, it's not unusual or surprising for RiverClan to lean so heavily towards aquatic birds themselves. They're not exclusive to RiverClan but they're very popular methods of denoting someone's skill with fishing or affinity to water.
Large Herbivores
...
Rodents
...
Bugs and Creepy Crawlies
Though bugs are agitating and a somewhat unappreciated part of life, the clans also acknowledge that their will to live and thrive is impressive. Bugs struggle through the world on tiny wings and tinier legs and such resilience is respected.
Color Based
Among the most common names prefix-wise. Especially for a tired molly who just had a litter of kits, it's just easier to use the colors to name your kit. Many names also have implications related to the Spirits of the Clans; something meant to nudge the kits in a specific direction.
Pattern Based
Equally common as colors as a prefix for a tired queen, pattern based names are popular especially when a kit has a notable pattern.
Texture Based
...
Appearance Based
...
Personality Based
...
Light Based
...
Water Based
Prominent in RiverClan, water based names are often very emotional or have forceful connotations. Even cats out of RiverClan will sometimes grant their kit a water-based name in the hopes of drawing Riversoul's eye over them for protection.
Ice Based
...
Heat Based
Names popular to ThunderClan that emphasize their passion and determination. Though fire is frightening, living in a forest ThunderClan has been forced to learn about the benefits of small flames.
Wind Based
...
Ground Based
...
General Plants
...
Herb Based
...
Flower Based
...
Tree Based
...
Fruit Based
...
Body Parts

Location Based

Additional Notes for the Names of Strelles
When I was creating the list, little aspects of worldbuilding cropped up and I needed to keep track of it. These additions don't have to be part of anyone else's world if you're just using the list for their meanings and the variety but I think they're nice to have anyway.
Might wanna keep checking up on this if you want to keep up with them. Every time I post a name update; I'll probably update this section a little bit too.

Endless Random /idgames WAD Adventures #004
Clockwork 70
Deep into the Massacre (Version 3 Music Fix) (First random megawad that is not the same room over and over :P!)
NICKS1ST.WAD
Aberration Caves.
Quantum4.wad
Ultimate Suck
LOCAL HERO for DOOM II
Hell Keep redux v0.9.3
Clockwork 70
As we usually say when we like something: short and sweet. This map, inspired by the brown style of Quake, delivers an adventure through a castle-like structure guarded by a multitude of enemies. With an incredibly smooth layout, the gameplay flows in an unconscious way as we go through the combat with a good show of weapons. The visuals make basic use of the stock textures, creating a vanilla feel that manages to look across the established boundaries, but also does a few extra tricks to create that heavy atmosphere that can be found in Quake. With a well-established simplicity, balanced gameplay and a great layout, this is a short but solid map in every aspect that is well worth your time.
Deep into the Massacre (Version 3 Music Fix)
There's no way I'm going to finish a megawad in one day, so I'll probably try to play this megawad as the week goes on and see how far I get. With the first few maps in and taking a quick look with noclip2 at the rest of the maps, I can tell this megawad is well packed. Slaughter style gameplay with medium to small maps with arena designs, everything seems to be made to give me a strong challenge and a few hours of suffering. Oh boy. So far I can see that the overall design of the megawad is simple, featuring stock textures and even the original Doom 2 music (a bit disappointing), which gives me a feeling that the megawad was made more with the goal of creating something numerous but still prolifically challenging. We'll see what the rest of this huge adventure is like, but for now I can say that it looks slightly solid, basic at its worst moments. I'm not a big fan of this style, but I can appreciate the effort. We'll soon see if I'll pull the rest of my hair out with this!
NICKS1ST.WAD
A tiny little debut map from 1995 created during the boom of the community maps. It has a fairly simple and square layout that makes us explore a bit until we find the right path, leading us through long roads that are mostly empty or, on the contrary, full of invisible traps where enemies are waiting to attack us. As you might expect, it's no big deal. It comes with an extremely simple design, rough and ungraceful use of textures (the doors aren't even identified) and the gameplay is mediocre at its best. Still, it's not terrible, it doesn't punish us as much as other WADs of the time and, in one way or another, it's better than what we'd find in something like Maximum Doom.
Aberration Caves.
An interesting clash of worlds. The proposition of bringing Quake life to the world of Doom is one that has been done a long time ago and has nothing extremely new about it at present, however, I can assume that this 2008 WAD is probably one of the first among the list of Quake-themed WADs. Aberration Caves is a medium-sized map that, as the title suggests, is set among a cavern system, adorned with the detail of Quake's brown, detailed textures and accompanied by Doom's near-perfect glossary of demons. Map development concentrates on small, linear paths with little exploration, but presents an attractive and solid detail under an understandable layout. It is impossible to get lost in this map. Its short size and intense combat give it a good flow that keeps on giving throughout. The beginning can be a bit fatal for blind players, but the further we progress the opportunities expand and the fight swings. The ending seemed a bit wasted and presents a boss battle a bit annoying or at least boring. It doesn't have much impact in its ending but the simple presentation and fun map layout gives it enough juice to give us a solid 10 minutes of fun. Entertaining, decent and a worthwhile one, honestly.
Quantum4.wad
One of the comments on /idgames says that this WAD dates from October 1996, which seems quite possible. On the other hand, the submission date in the /idgames archive is 2003, so I'll go with that. First of all, this WAD self-describes itself as a puzzle adventure, which in its own way I can see was what the creator was aiming for. On the other hand, oh the 90s, this was an era where ''puzzle'' meant creating confusing layouts, hiding buttons and a cryptic progress system. In other words: lost. The WAD has some potential as its design is quite avant-garde and at times somewhat admirable under the circumstances considered, however, it suffers from quite a few glaring errors that make it a mediocre experience at its best. Poorly used textures, doors that vanish into thin air, buttons that sometimes don't even work properly and the so-called "puzzles" are more of a wall-humping party. All 4 maps suffer from this fate, but at least the last two offer some interesting layouts and more daring combat, but even so they are not saved. I wouldn't recommend this WAD, honestly. It's not fun but for historical purposes it might work as an interesting perspective on how we've progressed. Despite only being 4 maps it took me about 50 minutes to complete, so take that into account.
Ultimate Suck
The title of this WAD is the kind of name you would expect from one from the 90s, however, this one was made in 2020 and released with all the ironic reality that can come with it. It's a replacement for the original E4M1 that combines the visual style of classic tech-base with the macabre hell of Thy Flesh Consumed, creating a beautifully peaceful atmosphere that makes me nostalgic for some reason. The map features an interesting design that seems to show a clear understanding of layout and enough detail to give it an appealing visual value. The gameplay and certain design decisions tend to be fairly basic, mediocre to a point, but they get the job done without going too far. With a fairly attractive start that then evolves into a simple but fun map, this is a pretty decent WAD that tries to keep it simple without going overboard on difficulty. Relaxing and basic, like a coconut on the beach. 3/5
LOCAL HERO for DOOM II
1999 is quite an interesting year for the history of Doom. Apart from being the end of the 90s era, it also marks a sort of transition between the classic style of yesteryear and the modern renaissance of 2000 onwards. Many WADs this year have left a great mark, and this one, Local Hero for Doom II, is one that I can say leaves a good taste in the mouth. The Doom-City style is a unique genre that was practically born with Sandy Petersen, thanks to its abstract and strangely realistic levels set in urban areas, mainly cities. Doom's textures, as limited as they were, gave enough essence to create slightly realistic settings that worked well enough to evoke a sense of architectural realism. This WAD aims entirely to achieve that category and succeeds in doing so in a solid, successful and fun way. A 90s classic, with an acceptable style and a gameplay more challenging than it looks, this map can give us between 10 to 20 minutes of entertainment and offer us an interesting perspective within the Doom-City genre, one as famous as hated at times, but one that I enjoy. Local Hero is interesting, engaging and has an aroma that is as charismatic as it is appealing. A WAD worthwhile if only for its historical value and solid design. It may look a bit clunky by modern standards, but it still plays well. 3/5
Hell Keep redux v0.9.3
Gigantic marble fortress in the middle of an infernal paradise. This huge to medium sized map is an incredible work full of variety, detail and a good challenge designed with balance in mind for all types of players. Starting with the epic entrance that launches us straight into the action until the bombastic end in cruel battles. This is a map that at the same time works as a ''return'' from the author, creating something new after such a long time that is worth playing with all kinds of admiration. It uses stock textures to create a nostalgic atmosphere that pays homage to the classic episodes. E2 and E4 is an environment that stands out quite a bit in my mind, especially thanks to the use of marble and tight gameplay that emphasizes survival and good tactics, especially with the attention you pay to your environments. Its size may seem detrimental from afar, but the map doesn't feel elongated and maintains a stable feeling of flow thanks to a comprehensive and dynamic layout that follows a clear difficulty curve. A great map in every way. Fun, well made, modest (in its own way) and full of charisma. 4/5

Iron Crypticle (PC, PS4, XB1) [Steam] | 12th July 2017
“You could summarise IRON CRYPTICLE as structured around the core of Smash TV / Robotron, deepened by an item collection system inspired by Bubble Bobble / Rainbow Islands, all placed in a Ghosts and Goblins / Gauntlet type medieval setting.“

Brigador (PC) [Steam] | 2nd July 2017
“Brigador is an isometric roguelite of intense tactical combat.“

Cryptark (PC) [Steam] | 20th June 2017

Tower 57 (PC) [Steam] | TBA 2017

Fragmental (PC) [Steam] | TBA (Early Access since Feb 2016)
“An intense competitive and co-operative, couch-play multiplayer twin-stick shooter with some of the fastest and most frantic gameplay around.“

Phase Edge (PC) | TBA
“Phase Edge is a melee focused, free-roaming adventure shmup.“

Backspace (PC) | TBA
“Backspace is a smart twin-stick arena shooter trapped inside a Tron-inspired dungeon crawler.“

Kobo Redux (PC) | TBA
“Kobo Redux is a frantic 80's style 2D shooter, inspired by the look and feel of 90's arcade cabinets. The gameplay is fast and unforgiving, although with less of the frustrating quirkiness of the actual games of the 80's. A true challenge in the spirit of the arcade era!“

The Phoenix
Hey everyone! So, here’s another x-files college au with a weird twist. It’s also on AO3 so I’ll link that here (so far there’s seven chapters but I’ll post them all up here in one bulk - sorry ‘bout that). If anyone on here is interested I’ll continue to update on Tumblr, although I might do that anyway to be honest. Anyway, sorry for the ramble. Here you go!
It wasn’t Mulder’s idea of a great night out, but they dragged him along anyway.
Ringo had been the one to suggest going, and for once Melvin had actually agreed to one of his ideas. John seemed impartial and rolled with what they were saying. Fox, however, wasn’t too keen on it. They had pored over movies on TV and at the cinema - nothing. None of them were hungry and the angry old farmer at the top of the hill had caught them UFO-spotting a few nights ago and had told them that if they came back one more time he’d set his dogs on them. It didn’t seem to leave them many more options.
“I just don’t see why,” Mulder huffed. “Since when have you guys been into brawling and street fighting? In fact, when have any of you cared about any variety of sport?” Ringo Langley - who, like the other two, preferred to be addressed by his last name - grinned and tapped his nose.
“Ever since we started watching Gladiators,” Frohike sighed, smiling to himself. “Natalie Lennox is an absolute babe.” Langley glanced up from his computer with a frown, opening his mouth to protest immediately.
“Uhh, have you seen Marisa Peré?” he argued. “She was the original Lace -and she was the best!”
“Lennox is way hotter - what are you talking about?” Frohike persisted, throwing his hands up dramatically. “And besides...”
Mulder tuned out the sound of their ceaseless bickering as he approached the crumpled poster on Frohike’s desk. It was torn and dog-eared from some sort of excessive reference which Mulder preferred not to consider. “Got what it takes?” was slapped at the top of the paper in vibrant red writing. He continued down the page, skimming through the information. “The Combat Zone proudly presents...Fight-And-Fantasy REDUX!...Old and new acts every week...sign up if you think you’ve got what it takes...winner wins $500, losers win a broken nose...$10 a ticket. The more the merrier.” Mulder shook his head in disbelief. Did he really have nothing else to do but waste ten bucks watching a bunch of amateur fighters and scantily-clad women beating each other up?
Apparently so. The argument had been cleared and the three boys were reaching for their coats by the door. Byers glanced back at him hopefully. “You coming, Mulder?” With an internal sigh, he nodded, grabbing his jacket from the chair behind him. How bad could it really be?
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Pretty bad.
They were stuck in a stuffy room with crowds of people who were primarily drunk or terrifying - sometimes they found men and women alike who happened to fit into both categories. Mulder had never felt so small in his life, or so excruciatingly young. They were the youngest around by far, the rest of the people in the cramped bar/arena starting in their late twenties and drifted into the thirties, forties, even fifties. Many of them looked as though they were part of some type of biker gang. If this bothered the Three Stooges who dragged him through the scary masses, they hadn’t shown it. They smiled and excused their way past the bar and shuffled into a tiny booth with a surprisingly fair view of what was supposedly the ‘ring’. A rickety wire cage that snaked all the way up to the ceiling, the sides concealed by thick curtains that wouldn’t have looked out of place in a theater. Maybe that’s what this place used to be, he thought, staring around absently. It wouldn’t surprise him.
“One of our favorites is coming on tonight,” Byers said excitedly. “She’s called the Phoenix. Just wait ‘til you see her, Mulder. She’s such a fantastic fighter. Nobody knows who she is, or where she came from. That’s why they call her that - she just rose out of nowhere, like out of the ashes, or something. We’ve heard that even the managers and coaches have no idea who she really is.”
“She’s hot, too,” Frohike agrees, sipping on his drink. “Wait until she comes on, she’s got a body like you’ll never believe.” Mulder rolled his eyes, a gentle huff of laughter breaking between his lips. The mention of cute girls made this entire idea seem a little less ridiculous, though he wasn’t willing to admit that to anybody just yet. He wasn’t necessarily pleased with the idea of them beating the crap out of each other.
“Ladies and gentlemen!” The widespread clamor of everybody yelling over each other dwindled into eager murmuring as a voice boomed out of the tinny speakers. Mulder opened his mouth but Langley quickly nudged him into silence, his eyes rooted to the spindly cage. He looked around; everybody was hypnotized, under some sort of spell, by the looks of things. He momentarily entertained the idea of witchcraft and laughed to himself. “It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for, for tonight we have some wonderful people with us. We’ve got a vicious fight between the deadly Viper and her arch-rival Nemesis -” The audience cheered and clapped, drinking in the MC’s voice. Mulder cringed. “Then we’ve got the Lion and the Wolf up against one another in the second round -” More whooping and hollering. Mulder couldn’t help but wonder if they all had such embarrassing names. Talk about wannabe wrestlers. “And there’s plenty more where that came from folks, but I know what you’re all here for... The ultimate showdown between our much-loved killer queens - it’s the Phoenix and the Widow, fighting once again for the grand prize of $500!”
The room was filled with ear-splitting screams and shouts. Most people seemed to be hollering in the Phoenix’s honor, although there was a scattered undertone of people screaming ‘Widow!’ hysterically. Mulder wondered if he’d even be able to make it to the final fight without taking a couple of painkillers in the bathroom, or just straight-up walking out. His head was pulsing already.
“Is it always this loud?” he yelled into Frohike’s ear, who also happened to be whistling and cheering on the Phoenix. He nodded, patting his friend’s shoulder and laughing. Mulder held his own face in his hands, void of hope.
“Our first fighters of the night are new to the ring, so be nice,” the MC teased through the speakers. Everyone roared with laughter. He introduced them slowly, bringing up fabricated backstories and leaving everyone hanging as he called out their names. “Iiiiiiiiit’s... Storm!” and “Heeeeeeeeeere she is: it’s Athena!”
Mulder watched them both saunter into their corners, throwing furtive looks to the crowd and blowing kisses at nobody in particular. His three friends lapped this performance right up, their tongues practically hanging out of their mouths. He raised his eyebrows and sunk further back into the leather seating. Surely any movie would’ve been better than this, right? Did we really have no other choice?
The fights came and went without provoking any other emotion but pure, consistent boredom from him. It suited his friends, who designated him as the one to buy more cans of Coke and Sprite from the bar. This didn’t improve his mood in the slightest, for he needed to push past all the tough biker guys to get to the bar, which was also tended by a pretty scary looking man. As much as he wanted to leave, he found himself hanging around. There was no real reason why. He felt at though sticking around would be the polite thing to do, but that never normally kept him from running away from whatever his friends had planned out. Screw politeness, there was something else. He figured he’d stick around until the end. Maybe he'd been a little too harsh on the guys, maybe he was making a big deal over nothing. Maybe something good would come up somewhere.
Emphasis on ‘maybe’.
The evening dragged on and the acts were all the same; cute, flirty girls with feisty attitudes and beefy men with cocky smiles and bulging muscles. Blood was spilled on more than a few occasions and hastily wiped away in the intervals between brawls. Lion spat out a piece of broken tooth into the audience mid-fight and it landed at Langley’s feet. Mulder wasn’t a particularly sensitive person but he drew the line after watching Viper’s nose break and seeing her getting carried off the stage screaming and wailing for help. He picked up his jacket and nodded at his friends. They immediately looked disheartened.
“What’s the matter, Mulder?” Byers asked. “The Phoenix is about to come on! Don’t you want to see what all the fuss is about?”
“Not particularly,” he mutters, hurrying his coat on. “It was great guys, but I think I’ve had enough gore for one day. I’m actually surprised you three survive in a place like this.” They have the dignity to look offended.
“Sit down,” Frohike insists. “Trust me. She’s way hotter than Lennox and Peré combined.” Well now I definitely want to stay, Mulder thinks sarcastically. Yet against his better judgment, he sinks into his seat again, propping his elbows up on the table and resting his face on them like a sullen schoolboy. He concentrates on deliberately ignoring the stupid MC bigging the girls up, delving into their non-existent stories. His focus slips, however, and he finds himself listening in on snippets from the Phoenix’s introduction. She swanned out of nowhere, out of the ashes, as Byers said. Young, fiery, not to be messed with. He scoffed under his breath - not that anybody would’ve heard him. The roars of her fans were deafening as she was introduced into the cage.
Mulder squinted, waiting for her to appear so he could see what all the fuss was about. This had better be worth it, he complained internally. He leaned forward, his head resting on his knuckles.
There she was. The Phoenix.
The first thing he noticed about her was that she carried herself differently to the other girls who had previously been. She didn’t flaunt, she didn’t have any flair or glamor or anything that marked her as something of a show-off. She walked like she meant business - like she knew what she was doing. He found himself impressed, for some reason, and found himself sitting up a little straighter in his chair. The second thing he noticed was that she didn’t need to prove her sexuality to the audience, not deliberately at least. Her legs were dressed in skin-tight leather, accentuating every curve of her lower half. Watching her felt wrong, somehow. It felt almost obscene. He found his face flushing, though no one could see for the only lights were those illuminating her arena - and it definitely was hers. She had her audience hanging onto her every movement. She was wearing a tight black vest too, but he tried to skim past for the sake of keeping some illusion of being a gentleman. Then he remembered that they weren’t the only ones in the room and felt stupid. He didn’t look anyway; his shirt wasn't long enough to pull over his lap.
The only thing missing was a face, an identity. She was looking away from the audience; all he could see was a burst of flame which just so happened to be her cropped red hair. As though reading his mind she turned suddenly and abruptly. The only glitzy part about her was the glitter dashed against her cheeks and lips; it sparkled under the lighting like embers.
No wonder they called her the Phoenix. She didn’t just look like fire, she was fire; she was a burning flame, passion, desire, life itself. Mulder found himself captivated, suddenly enthralled by the idea of street-fighting so long as she was involved. She had pulled him into the most wonderful inferno imaginable and he never wanted to leave, only to be surrounded by everything she represented.
He found that he was gaping and immediately stopped himself, trying to regain his composure. Of course, the others had already noticed but they had also fallen into her trap. They were gazing at her like they couldn’t believe their own eyes. Mulder pinched himself. This is not a dream.
He may or may not have been in love, in a wonderfully starstruck kind of way. He decided that the combat zone wasn't so bad after all.

RWBY OC Redux - Sampaguita Lakambini
Name: Sampaguita Lakambini
Name Meaning: Sampaguita is an type of Jasmine flower. The name itself is a combination of two Filipino words “Sumpa” and “Kita” which translates to “I promise you.” It’s also worth noting that another translation of Sumpa exists and that’s curse. Age: 24
Colour: White
Race: Human
Influence/reference: She’s loosely based on a Filipino Heroine, Gabriela Silang, who lead her faction of the rebel group against the Spanish colonizers in the Philippines. Occupation/Setting: Protector of her home Village. Licensed Huntress Gender: Female
Appearance: Dark brown, white and wavy hair that reaches to her neck and brown irises. Tall and very fit.

Sampaguita’s look is mostly comprised of the colors white and a very light shade of blue. On her head, she wears a silver circlet with a blue gem embedded on it, a very expensive gift from her mother, which was given to her when she departed for Haven. She also wears a silver necklace which was gifted to her by her father as soon as she graduated from Haven Academy. Her top comprised of two layers, a blazer and a dual-colored sleeveless shirt. She wears a combat skirt, which gives her great mobility. She also wears a simple arm bracers and Her shoes, more like boots actually, are heeled, goes up to her thighs.
She doesn’t wear traditional Mistrali clothes and opted for a more Vale look. That stems from her bitterness of the Kingdom of Mistral, as a way of showing her distaste towards the ruling pseudo-monarch.
Logo: Her Logo, is that of three Sampaguita flowers in bloom, while its white petals all “rise”, in the form of a rising representation of aura. Its emblazoned on the back of her blazer, on her skirt and the back of her shirt.

Personality: Sampaguita was once a sweet little girl. Loving and caring but constant bandit attacks on her village made her bitter, logical, and a sociopath. Well maybe sociopath is a bit of an exaggeration, but if the situation calls for it, she won’t hesitate to do what she thinks is right.
Sometimes, she’s approachable and agreeable, considering she was on a team and was its leader. She knows when to take suggestions and listen to them intently but as leader she oftentimes ignore those and went with her calculations.
This was what caused the whole team to have a falling out and she losing contact with them.
Skills and Abilities: As a graduate of a combat school and Huntress school, she’s adept at sword play and hand-to-hand combat and due to the nature of her weapon, she’s very good at handling a whip.
She’s swift and precise with her strike, especially if her sword was in its whip form, with the Dust incorporation, she can land precise ice dust strikes on a certain body part but she’s not limited to Ice Dust, she can also stun enemies Lightning Dust.
Weapon(s)/Fighting Style:
Gabriela – A Dust-incorporated sword that turns into a whip. The way that her sword into a whip is through the use of her semblance.

One of the Flower Buds on her sword’s hilt is artificial and acts as a Dust Cartridge while the other is an honest to goodness flower that’s living off of her aura. Through this she can use her semblance to make the flower grow vines and extend her sword’s range and basically turn her sword into a hilted bladed whip.

A tiny chord also connects every segmented part of the sword from the flower cartridge, so that her sword can gain elemental abilities through Dust consumption.
(think of Kurama from Yuyu Hakusho and Catwoman from DC comics and Ivy from Soul Calibur)
Semblance:
Photosynthesis - She can control flowers or plants to a certain extent. It’s why her weapon has a flower on its hilt, through her semblance, she can extend her sword’s reach and range and at the same time, it also enables her to make her sword turn into a whip.
The extent of her semblance makes her grow plants at an exponential rate but she can also “take back”, for lack of better term, the growth of the plants and make it the way it was before the use of her semblance.
The way you can tell that she’s using her semblance, kinda like Ruby’s rose petals when she’s using her speed, or Yang’s eyes turning red, is by the very small flower bed growing on the spot she’s standing.
Backstory/History:
Sampaguita lived in a village, Sayuri, all her life. It’s a big settlement outside the Kingdom of Mistral, as such, her village always experienced bandit attacks. Due to having more money and resources than most independent settlements but also the meager support the Kingdom of Mistral gives.
Luckily, most Sayuri settlers are versed in trap making and it helps that their location is in the middle of the forest and a mountain but traps can only go so far.
Unbeknownst to her, Sayuri was also big in the Black Market, it is one of the reasons why Bandits attack the village afterall. Due to this, she experienced more bandit attacks than Grimm attacks in her village.
Her aura and semblance activated after a group of bandits attacked and during a Grimm attack. That was the worst attack by bandits the village of Sayuri has experienced that their negative emotions attracted lots and lots of Grimm in the area. Suddenly the surrounding foliage grew and impaled all the Grimm that attacked the village.
While attending at combat school, she developed her cunning and calm personality. She was known as someone who doesn’t show happiness or sadness even when there was a reason too. The only person who she show some sort of emotion to were her parents, after all she was here to protect them and her fellow villagers.
Rumors and speculations ran wild as to why she was cold, some even say that she was an illegitimate Schnee child but she never denied nor proved those true, she just coldly ignored those rumors.
While in Haven academy, a school that’s located inside the Kingdom of Mistral, there was never a day that she wasn’t in foul mood. She’d throw occasional fake smiles at her teachers and peers but none of those were genuine.
But when she was made leader of her team, she changed. Even if it was a minuscule change, it was a positive change nonetheless.
Sampaguita showed genuine emotions while in school and learned to separate her distaste towards the kingdom and her feelings for her peers. She showed genuine emotions oftentimes than not, but while in missions, she’s back to her cold calculating self and after five years of being together (four years at Haven and a year as a team after graduation), that was the reason why her team had a fallout.
Oftentimes than not, she’d ignore her teammates suggestion and proceed with her plan, but sometimes plans don’t go the way they wanted and that caused injuries and even a near-death experience.
After the fall out, she went back to her home village, it was in the middle of another bandit attack. This time, the Kingdom didn’t send any aid, there were no huntsmen and huntresses present. This fueled her bitterness towards the Kingdom and in her rage, she singlehandedly put every bandit that was attacking her village, to sleep for eternity.
Sometime later, she encountered a blue haired wanderer, most likely homeless. She fought him in the hopes of deterring him from ransacking her home village. A big fight happened, then suddenly he just collapsed.
And that’s how the blue haired wanderer came to view Sayuri as his home village and helped her protect it from bandits and the creatures of Grimm.

I accidentally made a really cool low poly terrain today while messing with terrains in Unity. In a lot of ways, this is what I was trying to achieve with Tiny Combat Redux’s maps. For Redux I had a library of meshes that I would put together, but I had no way to make “natural” landscapes and things like canyons.
What happened here is a heightmap generated by World Machine, then imported into Blender with some modifiers applied. The secret sauce is a shader that automatically colors based on the slope of the terrain. I could add more to it if I wanted to, for example at a certain height it starts showing snow, but just a slope modifier makes a huge difference.

Every once in a while I get “accusations” of using Unreal Engine’s default settings, or people asking me UE4 questions even though my stuff is done in Unity. I always get a laugh out of it, and at one point I was getting it so often that as a joke I started putting the infamous LIGHTING NEEDS TO BE REBUILT text on my HUD.
It still happens. The last time I was told I was using Unreal was Tiny Combat Redux's main menu. Just adding Unity’s post processing stack to your project and then turning the sliders up does basically the same thing that UE4's post processing shaders are doing. Honestly, it's only because Unity's default settings and scene don't include the Post Processing Stack V2, that default Unity projects look the way they do. I suspect including them is the plan going forwards, as the new and still experimental scriptable render pipelines both default to a scene with all that stuff turned on.
However, I do think Unreal's starter content is of higher quality and better looking than Unity's. That smoke and explosion particle for example are real good. So good, that I “borrowed” the smoke and have used it in a couple Unity projects.
Plus, they just have nice test objects to look at like the chair, table, and cool looking material sphere, along with some really dynamic looking materials that take advantage of cool render tricks like cubemaps and screen space reflections.

Tiny Combat Redux demo has been released!
Tiny Combat Redux is an almost complete rebuild from the ground up of Tiny Combat. The original game started as one thing, but as I built it out, it became something completely different. Redux is the game that Tiny Combat, but built with that purpose, and those game mechanics, in mind.
This very, very early demo includes 4 planes and a small arena to dogfight enemies of different difficulty levels.
Check it out on Itch.io

Visually, I tweaked the effects a bit and added a slight flicker. Though, I’m not sure if I like the flicker or not. I remember when CRTs used to flicker under some lighting conditions and I hated it.
Meanwhile, the button is interactive and when you press it, it inverts its colors. The mouse also fills in shape when it hovers over something interactive

Not much to show for this week in terms of progress due to real life happenings. I did fix a couple crash bugs though that were exposed by putting a bunch of units together in one place and having them shoot each other. Also figured out the problem with the sound cutting in and out so much (I just raised the unique voices limit) but it has me wanting to rethink my entire soundscape.

Tank turrets are back in, along with their ballistics calculations. The beginning of the video also does a good job of showing what the visibility system does with real values.
