remember when carlos said he loves how big tk's heart is for bringing in strays and how he was talking about himself 😭 because that's how he thinks of his life pre-tk - he remembers being lonely and lost, skittish and touch-starved, as frightened of letting anyone get close as he was desperate for any scrap of affection 😭😭 and how tk was the one who found him and loved him and brought him home - made him a home - in a way carlos had never truly believed was possible. and now carlos gets to bask in being loved and held the way he deserves 😭😭😭

“You know we’re going to a fundraiser, right?” Carlos asks, eyeing off the cinnamon doughnut and large coffee in his father’s hand as Gabriel opens the car door and settles into the passenger seat.

His Carlos. A marshmallow.

Four-thirty in the morning is a peaceful time, Carlos thinks as he blinks up at the ceiling and watches the dust motes settle. 

Grief has made nothing in their lives feel completely right, but somehow, everything is still okay.

It feels like a dream. A really bad one, actually. A nightmare, to be more specific. A very realistic, very vivid vision that clings to TK like a second skin.

Carlos hums softly and hugs him tighter. “Exactly,” he says. “For as long as we both shall live.”

“You got a key?” TK asks, trailing Carlos as he walks briskly out of the elevator and towards the loft.

TK licks his lips. "Maybe," he concedes, thinking of the sounds he can draw out of Carlos and the way they’ll echo off the shower tiles. "But I'm also right."

Bradley is twenty minutes late and he’s kind of stressed about it.

Jake sighs. “Guess not,” he replies, a little pleased sound echoing from the back of his throat as Bradley rests their foreheads together. “But that’s your reward for making an honest man out of me.”

TK had always been a very touchy-feely person. Carlos had noticed it from the very start of their blossoming relationship ― from the lingering touches after sharing more than just a few kisses on Carlos’s couch to TK resting his head on Carlos’s shoulder while they actually chill on their night off.

But, after the kidnapping, it amplifies tenfold. It’s not just that TK seeks that physical contact; is that he revels in it more than he already did. TK reaches out to touch Carlos’s arm whenever they cross paths during a call; he allows one finger to trace Carlos’s biceps after sex. Carlos loves TK’s newly-discovered clingy side, but it also worries him.

“Not that I’m complaining,” he begins one night while he’s trying to cook dinner with TK becoming a koala draped over his back. “But I can’t really check on the red snapper if you keep this up.”

“This?” TK asks innocently, not even relenting for one second. “Don’t know what you mean, Carlos.”

Carlos turns around in the narrow space TK’s left for him, and immediately his fiancé places one hand over Carlos’s heart. And it’s then, when Carlos can feel his heartbeat in sync with TK’s, that he finally understands.

TK’s making sure that Carlos is still alive, that he’s still breathing.

“I’m here,” he mutters, dropping the tweezers he’s holding and wrapping his arms around TK. “I’m not going anywhere.”

“You almost did,” TK mutters. “I don’t know how you survived all those times I was in a hospital bed.”

“I knew you’d fight to come back to me,” Carlos tells him. “Just as you should know I’ll always fight the hardest to come back home. I wasn’t lying, TK. My life is yours.”

“And mine is yours,” TK promises.

They remain silent for a few seconds, swaying in place, holding each other, until the oven beeps. Carlos drops a kiss on TK’s crown.

“Gotta check on the fish,” he whispers. “I love you. I’m here.”

“I love you too,” TK reciprocates.

He never lets go of Carlos’s hand, and Carlos does the only thing he can think of.

He holds on to TK’s hand.

can i just acknowledge how ronen and rafa has been delivering absolute powerhouse performances for a whole head spinning soul stirring season and THEY just topped it off with the most fucking soulful REAL acting one could only dream of in such a peak tender moment like a proposal !!!

At first I wasn't sure what to make of the choice to have Carlos seem so blasé about TK saying he stayed up, saying he had bad news or about the choice of having Carlos be across the room while they talked. It's unlike what we've seen of them before where closeness and touch for comfort was pretty immediate.

What I do think this fits with is the very ease and humor Carlos takes TK trying to back out of the wedding. The 'silly you for thinking that I'd back out? Have you met me? I'm marrying coma boy.' The 'please don't panic yet, please don't spiral, I'll make you laugh if it's the last thing I do' of it all. But also the serious tone and the assuredness saying "I'm not running. I'm right here."
