TMAtober Day 27 - MAG 159: The Last
[ID: a two-panel comic of a scene from MAG 159. The background is greyish-blue and foggy. Peter Lukas is in the first panel. He has washed-out pale skin, grey hair, blue eyes, a beard, a blue jacket and a blue turtleneck. He asks, "Where are your friends, Archivist?". In the second panel is Jonathan Sims. Jon has brown skin, long, dark greying hair, scars, blue clothes, fogged-over glasses, and glowing green eyes. He looks distraught as he says, "Tim and Sasha are dead." end ID.]

The S1 Archives main staff was composed entirely of people who (at least partially) liked men. I choose to believe the OIAR will continue the trend of being equal but opposite to the Archives by having the entire S1 main staff like women.

I love the fact that cannonically Martin considers that the thing that makes Jon recognizable to strangers it's not the myriad of scars but that Jon looks like someone that has not sleept in ages. He could not more enphatically make the point he wants Jon to just take at least a nap already except he makes his point to a total stranger Jon just traumatized instead of saying it to Jon.

today i am thinking about tim's freeze response.
in ep 104, in his statement about danny, he beats himself up over the fact that he couldn't bring himself to move when he saw "danny" up on the stage in the covent garden theatre
[ID: A transcript screenshot reading "I always tell myself there was some force there. Something that held me in place and meant that all I could do was watch. But sometimes when I think back, I remember how my legs shook, and maybe I could move. Maybe I’m just a coward." end ID]
~~~~
and then in ep 39 sasha had to Tackle Him to get him out of prentiss' way after his whole joe spooky bit because he just Didn't Move apparently
[ID: A transcript screenshot reading:
SASHA: Behind you! Run!
TIM: Oh…
PRENTISS: [Slowly intoning over worm sound] Do you hear their song?
SASHA: TIM!
[IMPACT, WORMS AND SCUFFLING]
end ID]
~~~~
worm sounds and a full sentence after going "oh" and sasha STILL needed to tackle him.
i don't really have anywhere i'm going with this i'm just thinking about it really hard

TMAtober Day 17 - MAG 111: Family Business
"If the Circus--"
"Yeah, yeah, the world changes in horrible ways. For you. I'm a book."
"You can't be serious."
"I'm dead serious."
[ID: a drawing of Gerry from TMA. He is leaning back against a table. He is pale, with blue eyes, an ACDC shirt with ripped sleeves, eye tattoos on every joint and his throat, badly dyed long black hair, several piercings, smudged eyeliner, and ripped jeans. He's smiling smugly and saying, "I'm dead serious." There is a blue overlay over him and he is glowing blue. Behind him, the cabin wall is wood, and there are two dark windows. end ID.]
gerry keay i love you <3 <3 why did you have to be dead since the start

btw my 2020-2021 tma discourse thesis remains: the camp of 13-17 year olds who got into the show en mass in spring 2020 and had clearly never interacted with adult-oriented horror fiction before were, indeed, annoying, but they had nothing on the group of 25-40 year olds who developed massive superiority complexes about being the oldest people in the room and appointed themselves fandom hall monitors.

smth i think ppl get wrong when writing jon is that he has to be a bitch but he cant be cruel. if you take away his bitchyness its not jon anymore, he just becomes a fanon husk of himself. but if you make him too mean, then you're forgetting the awkward politeness and humanity of jonathan sims. remember: he may be a stubborn dickhead, but he let martin stay in the archives without having to be asked, even back in season 1
