Now, I know you read about that big heist at Konpeki Plaza the other day in the screamsheets. Well I have it under good authority that it was these two guys who were behind it. And not just that, listener! Rumor has it Gallagher and Milkovich are responsible for the biggest grand larceny jobs this year. You know, the real flashy ones that the corpos wish you didn't know about but failed to hide? The Regal Residencies robbery? The Kang Tao Building bust-up? Yeah, that's right. All the work of these two street kids from the slums, clearly on their way to becoming Night City legends. The NCPD is reportedly offering a hefty reward if you think you have what it takes to take these guys down. But, you want my advice? If you see this duo coming, get the fuck out of their way. And unless you gonks have a real death wish, never, ever, get in between them.

Lark for @neishroom!

Lark is usually described by her peers as "that weird theater kid that's kind of hot though" - and they're right, she's bit weird. Usually seen wearing her token medieval knight's boots (just costume boots of course) mixed with a sort of goth-punk-something-rather fashion, Lark stands out like a raven in a pond of ducks, and it isn't just because she's nearly six feet tall and lanky, though that's definitely a factor.

Raised by theatrical parents (playwright father and costume designer mother) Lark grew up behind stage (and sometimes on it), surrounded by exuberant actors, lavish costumes, grand monologues, tragic romances and emotional music that all made the world feel like it was this wondrous, magical kingdom for her to discover; that childish whimsy has remained as Lark has aged.

As a teenager Lark is witty and spunky and a little intense. She takes the stage and acting very seriously and dreams of becoming an actress herself one day. She does theater, improv, debate and anything that lets her hone her craft. Lark can usually be found lurking around the theater section of her school, helping with sets, with costumes, practicing lines, and outside of school she loves to watch plays and movies, she acts at the theater her parents own, usually small parts because of school, she also loves to run but that's just for her, a little way to burn all that extra energy she's always full of.

Lark knows acting is in her future, whether that be on a stage or on the screen she isn't sure yet, but first she must conquer high school. Not unlike a dramatic play itself high school promises to be an adventure or, at the very least, a great stage for learning.

Story update

I got to write a good chunk of the opening these past two days. Excited to get more work done over March break. And I can't wait to get to writing more about my daughter T-T But she comes in a bit later in the story. Still in the first act, though.

A study I did of Julio Cortázar hace poco💓

I’ve rediscovered his short stories (let’s be honest…did I ever forget them😭) and I’m once again reminded of how much of a MASTER he was at writing and crafting a good story. I’m just rereading Final del juego today because it’s rainy, and every time I finish one of his stories I just sit around for a bit like the narcos meme😆

Cortázar always said that the author only does half of the job in writing, and it’s up to the reader to do the rest. All of these stories are just SO good & honestly quite short, but stick with you well after you read them🙏 he just plays so much with time, the supernatural, life and death, shifting reality, etc

PLEASE TELL ME YOUR FAVORITE SHORT STORIES!!!!!!!!! (In any language…I’m just on a latam authors kick right now because I LOVE magical realism)

Some of my favorites:

Continuidad de los parques: this is like THE quintissential Cortázar short story (only a page long) & is so so so good🤌 (english version)

Una flor amarilla: this is my favorite I think. I love to think of life as a cycle…and this just always makes me think so much when I finish🤌 the existential dread of knowing you’ve ended what should be the endless cycle of your life…& if it’s worth it to end things, or if it’s better to let them go on as they are (I can’t find an English version online😭)

El ídolo de las Cícladas: ummmmmm this one had me😳😳😳 I just LOVE the supernatural & creepy rituals, fulfilled prophecies…jealousy…

No se culpe a nadie: this one is just about a guy trying to put on his blue sweater but it makes me claustrophobic like nothing has done before😭😭😭 (english version)

do you have a fav type of tea? (also finally realized your blog title is from rake's progress hell yeah)

i don't think i have a single favorite type of tea i am very tea positive in general. the only teas i'm not really fond of are mint, chamomile, and matcha. in the past year or so though i've gotten much more into breakfast blend black teas, and my favorite of those is an ostensibly "irish" breakfast tea from a small independent tea shop in pennsylvania :) not sure what about it is so good (or why it's "irish" lol) but it's nice and bold, holds up to cream well, doesn't get too bitter when steeped for a long time. and it's like half the price for twice the quantity i can get anywhere else when talking about similar teas from similar vendors which is always a big plus

also in the past year i got into chinese style looseleaf teas from a shop in dc, all the tea they sell is produced by the owner's family and their tea fields in fujian and it's really really good stuff. the kind of tea you infuse (ideally) in a gaiwan and you can get like a liter of tea out of one serving of leaves. i love their dark roasted oolongs, they have very complex and long lasting aromas, and their black teas are super smooth. just about the only black tea i like straight up with no additions like sweetener or cream. their smoky lapsang souchon is made the traditional way dried over white pine fire and it's a real treat. the owner of this tea shop does free tea tastings most weekends where you can just come and sit down and sample the teas and chat and the guy is SUPER knowledgeable about teamaking and tea business without being like, aggressively pretentious about it, really just a wonderful way to get more into tea for the curious
