The Role of Trade Show Signs in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV in Building Brand Awareness and Customer Loyalty for Businesses
Trade shows are one of the most effective ways businesses showcase their products and services to potential customers. In a city like Las Vegas, where trade shows are a significant industry, it's essential for businesses to make a strong impression on attendees. One of the most important tools for achieving this is trade show signs. Trade show signs in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV, play a critical role in building brand awareness and customer loyalty for businesses. They are often the first point of contact between a business and its potential customers, and they can help businesses stand out in a crowded and competitive environment. At a trade show, businesses have only a few seconds to capture the attention of attendees. Eye-catching trade show signs can help businesses make a strong first impression and draw people in. They can also help businesses communicate their brand message and values clearly and memorably. Trade show signs can take many different forms, from banners and posters to digital displays and interactive kiosks. Whatever form they take, the key is to create signs that are visually appealing, informative, and easy to read from a distance. When designing trade show signs, businesses should consider their target audience and the message they want to communicate. Signs should be tailored to the specific needs and interests of the attendees and should be designed to capture their attention and engage them. In addition to attracting new customers, trade show signs can also play a crucial role in building customer loyalty for businesses. By reinforcing their brand message and values through signage, companies can create lasting impressions on attendees and build relationships with them over time. Trade show signs can also be used to promote special offers, discounts, or promotions that are only available to attendees. This can create a sense of exclusivity and urgency that encourages attendees to take action and become loyal customers. By using trade show signs to build brand awareness and customer loyalty, businesses can also create a competitive advantage for themselves. When attendees leave a trade show, they may be overwhelmed with information and forget about many of the companies they encountered. Businesses that have made a strong impression through their signage are more likely to be remembered and sought out in the future. Trade show signs can also be a powerful tool for generating leads and driving sales. By using signs to showcase their products and services, businesses can attract potential customers interested in what they offer. By using signs to promote special offers or discounts, businesses can encourage attendees to make a purchase or sign up for a service on the spot. hi, i love your writing!
could you do yandere ranpo, chuuya, dazai and atsushi with a s/o who’s really sleepy all the time? basically like, anemic like fyodor 💀
no stop this ask is like a callout post. i sleep all of the time during the day and i stay up all night… i should probably fix that LMAO. anon, you and i may or may not be anemic. /j anyways yes i love this request! thank you for requesting!! <3
Tumblr media
Their Darling Is Always Sleepy; Osamu Dazai, Ranpo Edogawa, Atsushi Nakajima, and Chuuya Nakahara
Format: Headcanons
Possible warnings: Yandere content, dark themes, mentions of kidnapping, mentions of non-consensual drug usage
Tumblr media
Osamu Dazai
When he first met you he took note of your trait of sleeping all of the time. At first it concerned him since he thought that it might have been a health condition, but when he found out that it wasn't, he found it absolutely adorable.
He would bring you pillows so you can nap comfortably on your desk, or sometimes he’d even bring a spare blanket to the agency for you.
Sometimes he’d find you sleeping around the agency’s office, or he’d find you sleeping in a booth at the café downstairs. He’d of course let you sleep because someone as adorable as you deserves your beauty rest, no?
Though, sometimes he’d get slightly frustrated because he wanted to spend more time with you. You would know when you ticked him off by his tone of voice. If he was more whiny then usual, then that was your telltale sign of to stay awake for him.
More often than not you’d wake up to his coat draped on your shoulders, acting as a makeshift blanket. You told him more than once that he didn’t need to do this for you, but he insisted on doing this for you.
Eventually when he fell in love with you, he’d become paranoid about your sleeping habits. He knew that you were very capable of protecting yourself, but what if someone took advantage of you while you were sleeping? And what if he wasn’t there to protect you? He absolutely hated the thought.
After all, evil expects evil.
He didn’t want anything bad happening to you. You may have not known it then, but you were his lifeline. If something happened to you, then he wouldn’t know what to do with himself.
After a few weeks of contemplating on what he should do, he eventually kidnapped you.
Terribly enough, he took you while you were napping. He did exactly what he feared what would happen to you. A part of him felt awful, but another part was happy that you were finally safe in his arms.
He knew that you’d never leave him.
You like him far too much for that.
Tumblr media
Ranpo Edogawa
To put it in short, he absolutely loved your ability to sleep anywhere. In fact it’s one of the reasons why he fell so head over heels for you. He found it absolutely adorable! How could he not?! He got to see your adorable sleeping face!
In fact, seeing you nap was his motivation for each day. He absolutely loved seeing you so at peace. He wouldn’t trade it for the world.
When you two first got into a more normal relationship, he’d often nap with you if he wasn’t on a case. He absolutely loved to snuggle up to you and close his eyes. It was very relaxing to him.
Ranpo would keep a blanket and two pillows in a closet reserved only for the two of you. Fukuzawa of course approved of this for some reason. Maybe it was because Ranpo talked him into it?
Sometimes you’d find that you were more tired than usual. This would always happen after Ranpo offered you a drink as well. Surly he wouldn’t drug you just so he could cuddle you, right? He’s not that insane, right?
If you ever wanted to snack on something right after you woke up, then he’d let you eat some of his food. He is obsessed with you after all. Why wouldn’t he show you his love like this?
When you started to not want to nap with anymore, that’s when his obsessive tendencies started to kick in. How dare you not want to cuddle with the greatest detective anymore? You said it was because that you were starting to get sweaty from the constant affections since it was the summer months, but he didn’t want to hear any of it.
After all, he is quite childish.
When he decided to kidnap you, he gave you a higher dosage of the sleeping drug that he would give you. It wasn’t enough to cause permanent damage, no, but it was enough to have you asleep for a whole day if he was lucky.
Now that you’re with him, he’ll make sure that the two of you nap and or cuddle whenever he gets the chance. He’s very clingy towards you because he loves you oh so much.
And he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Tumblr media
Atsushi Nakajima
When he first met you, you were napping at your desk. Originally he didn’t believe in love at first sight, but you somehow managed to change his view on that just by being lazy and sleeping while on the clock.
He absolutely found your ability to sleep anywhere adorable, but also slightly concerning. He was overly cautious of what might happen to you. What if the Port Mafia went to strike while you were sleeping? What if the agency got in danger? What if some one tried to kill you?
He got very anxious because of these things. He knew he wasn’t being rational, but still, those thoughts clouded his brain. He couldn’t get them out of his head, and he hated it.
When you went home for the day to take yet another nap, he would follow you home and watch you through a window. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but he had to make sure that you’d be alright.
You’re the light of his life.
When you were sleeping in the office, he’d always make sure to move right near you just in case of an emergency. Though, he’d do this once he was sure that you were asleep. Because of his ability allowing him to hear slightly better than others, he’d only come near you once your breathing became more steady.
Sometimes your coworkers would coo at the two of you. They honestly thought that you were dating because of how clingy the weretiger was.
You’d have to explain to them that you’re just friends, and that wounded Atsushi. He wouldn’t let that show though.
Atsushi wouldn’t resort to kidnapping out of worry for you. No, not at all. What he’d do is make sure to stay near you at all times. He’s guilt trip you into moving in with him because he was just that worried about you.
Once he was able to always keep a watchful eye on you, he’d start to relax. He’d let you sleep without any worrying on his end.
Just don’t leave him, alright?
He wouldn’t know what to do with himself if you left.
Tumblr media
Chuuya Nakahara
When he first found out about your tendencies to sleep anywhere at any given time, he was a tad bit concerned for your health. He knew that wasn’t normal, so when he asked you about it you made sure to assure him that it’s just something you do. You had to repeatedly tell him that you’re fine.
Once he got more used to your ability to sleep like that, he found it adorable. He liked that you trusted him enough to nap around him without a care in the world. He liked that if anything happened, he would be the one to save you.
Much like Dazai, sometimes he’d drape his coat over your shoulders so you could have a makeshift blanket. Or if it just so happened to be too bright in the room, he’d give you his hat so you could put it over your face to block out the light.
Though, sometimes he’d find your constant napping somewhat annoying. He wanted to spend time with you, especially on his rare days off! He didn’t just want to watch you sleep.
Because of this, on his days off you are forced to stay awake and be with him at all times. If you fell asleep or strayed away from him, then he’d get quite angry with you. He wouldn’t hurt you, no not in the slightest, but he’d lightly threaten you. After a few times you got the message and you’ve been by his side ever since.
More often than not he’d coax you into sleeping over at his place. The reasons he gave you to do so were simple; his house was on the larger side, and you’d be more comfortable.
Those reasons were true, yes, but he also left out the part where he’d watch you nap almost obsessively.
Sometimes he’d carry you to his bed and tuck you in for the night. He loved moments like those because it made him feel like your actual boyfriend.
Chuuya wouldn’t kidnap you because of your tendencies to sleep whenever you get the chance. Well, maybe he would if something bad happened to you, but that would be in the future and it would be a huge ‘what if’ scenario.
Just don’t leave your guard dog, alright?

barbarian!bakugo + buying apples. you’ll notice I didn’t put any work into this making it more … fantasy-like. And that’s bc… I still couldn’t figure out how😞
(warning: misogyny, you are described as a maiden / dress wearing, you have a pa, world building sucks, bakugo … doesn’t talk)
-
Being the only maiden on one of barbarian!Bakugo’s cross country journeys. I’m not sure yet how or why you’re there, but I’d say he’s traveling and one of his fellow clansmen took you as a prize, or maybe you just hitched a ride on their cart yourself.
But they stop in a small village one day, parking their horses at the edge of a town square of cobblestone and brick, merchant booths surrounding the small shops: of butchers and farmers and fishermen and traders, all rowdy and beaming as they show off their wares.
The men split up (the one with green hair in a leather vest declaring he needs a blacksmith, the lanky one with dark bangs in the direction of new snare wire), though the bulky blonde one (the one in thick furs and pelts who’s never really spoken to you) stays around, picking at the shiny, pink apples of a booth quite close to where the cart you sit on in boredom is parked.
“Five gold for a sack, sir” the man behind the creaky, wooden stand says. He’s stout, thin-haired and wrinkly, all his years in the sun selling fruit showing proudly on his tanned skin. He gestures to the wide array of fruits, each like a piece of candy he wants to show off.
Bakugo (you think his name his, or rather, that’s how he was introduced to you by the redhead with unnaturally sharp teeth, biggest of the group) glances up, frown thin and tense and blood red eyes narrowed. His shoulders shift, the muscles of his exposed stomach rippling as he breathes, the smooth skin of his forehead pinching as if he’s calculating a sale just as he would any other battle or raid.
The sign next to both the men clearly states that apples are two gold a sack. Pears are three, plums are one. “But I’ll give you a deal for four gold,” the man continues.
The blonde ponders, inspecting the apples diligently as if they could be poison, or a waste of a trade. His eyes narrow slightly, lips pursing, and you realize, in his reaching for coin, the intuition he so usually takes pride in (saving the men once from a brutal hound attack, and you, too, another time when a swamp dweller caught the hem of your trousers) is not there… and that they don’t use the same alphabet. Maybe he can’t even… read.
“For two gold,” you call.
Both parties look to you. One set of eyes in an suspicious glare, the other in a tart and angry bitterness. The merchant’s leathery face sinks into a melted frown, his fists clenching as your own hand shields your eyes from the bright sun and hides a protective squint.
“Didn’t your pa ever tell you not to meddle in grown men’s business?” he half-shouts back, the laugh in his voice now tangled with a snarl, downright and plain rude.
“The sign says two,” swinging off your seat, you smooth down your simple frock as you point to the wooden board stained with charcoal that’s hung up next to him. “One sack of apples for two gold.”
Bakugo’s eyebrows raise for the briefest of seconds, then fall in another glare as his hand drops from where he holds his coin (in small, canvas bag tied to his belt with thin, leather cord. It sags against his hip, his pants dipping and uncovering a v-line that descends further into a region you’ve only seen once; at a bathing river in the hills, the bare curve and marks of your own hips exposed—)
“Don’t know where you picked up letters, missy,” the merchant scoffs. “Reading is men’s work.”
You approach the barbarian’s side, his head (messy with hair) tilted towards you as he watches on in silence. From the pocket of your dress, you take out two gold of your own and flick them on the table before you.
“My pa taught me how.”
Then you take Bakugo’s hand (thick and rough and hard to hold) in one of yours and march right back to the horses and cart. Bag of sweet, pink apples in the other.

Arrived at Destination!
Next part of the convention series
First | Next
-----------------------
They finally made it to the hotel near the convention center.
A nice little place run by some Yokai, but still accommodated humans, thankfully had parking space for the tank.
And after some frustration with the reservation not showing up, "Ha-Ma-To! I made this reservation with the Official Site. Not a third party!" They got to the rooms to put down their luggage before going to check in with the convention staff.
The new broaches magic was pulling alot of weight since it was shrinking Raphs 7ft+ bulk down to his height as a teen, though still built like an American Football Lineman. Which was necessary for this venture, because there is no way he'd be able to navigate as easy.
They got their badges, found where their booth in the Dealers Hall would be, then went to retrieve their tables and the first group of boxes to set up. Along with the Dragons bringing the tech for a new set up at the booth.
Mikey and CJ broke off from them to get set up in the Artist Alley, since their set up was going to be a smaller scale. Though it would still take them a good bit of time to figure out how they were going to set up the display. Make it stand out a bit more than the other tables next to them.
Back in the Dealers Hall, the group were spacing out the tables in their booth first, then the Dragons set up a corner with a Holo Screen that they will be taking turns with meet and greets with. Hopefully not cause a traffic jam.
The Donnie handed the others a planned layout of how they want VTurtles! merch to be placed. Plus making a small area for the Caffeinated Turtle stuff.
Some of the other vendors came over to talk, mostly curious since they haven't seen them before.
"We work for Genius Built, the merch is for the small VTuber group they own." Donnie calmly answers fully calculating what to say, "The group wasn't officially invited so we just have this small set up. Though we don't fully know how many of their fans will be at this event."
One of the other vendors looks at what was being set up, "Wow, you guys got some fancy coffee, and these characters are kinda cool. Why turtles though?" They ask.
Leo looks up at the curious asker, "Their family apparently sees turtles as some kind of luck charm. Though that luck swings wildly from what we heard about them." Leo says while setting up a small muti tier stand with the sample acrylics and plushies, "Something about them needing to travel for a family emergency. Only to learn the 'emergency' was just an argument of different views."
April let out a laugh, "Yeah, they were so annoyed, had a nice trip though."
"Wait, they all had to go?" One person asked.
"Well they have a unique situation where the group is actually 4 Siblings, who stumbled into the VTubing thing. Said it was just a side gig." April answers back while sending a text to Raph and Cass on what to bring next, and what to leave for later.
There was some more calm trading of information, Donnie learning about some of the usual repeat vendors, local celebrities and some rumors that were floating around surrounding the industry vendors there.
Then after the setup was to their liking, the group decided to walk around the hall. Check out the possible food options, look out for certain merch they would grab later, and talk to some more vendors about the Convention in general.
They even took a detour into the Artist Alley to check on Mikey and CJ. After looking around a bit more the group left to get food. Preferably not in the convention center.
"$15 for a slice of pizza half the size of a personal size pizza?"
"Well the Food Trucks are not much better."
Before heading back to the hotel, and get the Drones ready for the next day. It had been a pain in the tail end to get permission to have them at the con, but after getting a deal to help with some Live Streams, the staff allowed them in.
With a lot of waver signing to say it wasn't the Conventions fault if anything happened to the robots.
The drones were very excited, especially since they were fitted with their new hover gear.
There was some last minute talks over food, about the schedules for the meet and greets, along with checking that all the Socials had the correct information on it.
"Here's to a great event, and hopefully no drama!"
-------------------
Masterpost
As I said in the first I still don't fully know where this is going, and I don't quite know how to approach this. So critique and suggestions are welcome.

"Welcome to the Theatre": Diary of a Broadway Baby
The Roommate
September 5, 2024 | Broadway | Booth Theatre | Evening | Play | Original | 1H 40M
Tumblr media
I entered the theatre with no expectations. I laughed, I cried, I had such a visceral experience that I had to come right back home and write out this review instead of putting it off for a week. All I knew beforehand was that Patti LuPone played a vegan lesbian in a Stockard Channing wig. Let me give you a rundown: Robyn (Patti) moves out to Iowa from The Bronx to live with a roommate she's never met named Sharon (Mia Farrow). Turns out, Robyn may or may not have a criminal past. Just your average scammer, con artist, soft drug dealer. Y'know, the usual. But she's leaving it all behind to start anew in Iowa. Well, stick-in-the-mud Sharon has nothing else going on in her dull little life, and she's very eager to learn the trade. Soon, these two roommates who have nothing in common are running a cute little business selling pot brownies to Sharon's book club. And it's all fun and games until Sharon suddenly has her gay awakening. And I mean, c'mon, who wouldn't fall for a mean criminal lesbian?
So, this is an early preview. The show doesn't officially open until next week, and there are still definitely some kinks that need ironing out. I actually think Patti was the weaker link here. She started off pretty stiff and gradually got better, but she has room for a lot of improvement. I don't really believe her as a lesbian, and I'd be curious to know if she has any queer female friends. I know she's got plenty of gay men in her circle as all Broadway Divas do, but what about the women she could model off of? As for Sharon, I didn't expect to be so charmed by Mia Farrow's character. She's really endearing, and just great in the role. Her character arc is catering to me specifically. A woman in her sixties abruptly discovering her latent homosexuality? Sign me the fuck up. Plotwise, it's just fun. There are a few lines here and there that come off awkwardly, but that might improve with time. It's not a play that's going to change the world, but it's one that I need to see again and again.
Oh, and by the way, I watched Patti LuPone and Mia Farrow slow-dance and kiss in a kitchen. And yeah, I'm kind of giddy about it.
Verdict: You Can Pry This Show Out of My Cold Dead Hands

johnny showing young reader around michigan. he shows her around ann arbor and where he lived while he was playing with the program. they go to his favorite spots around campus and of course yost ice arena. he just wants to share with her this part of his life with her to show her that he is serious about her.
part of her being so closed off with johnny is her friends in her ear, so yeah, she doesn’t let herself get attached or really learn the intimate parts of his life. johnny wasn’t born last night, so he realizes this and starts working to pull her out of his comfort zone. maybe he gets elected for all star weekend, turns down the invitation, takes the fine and whisks them away to ann arbor.
she’s confused because why would you trade one college town for another?
that first morning, johnny walks her to some diner not far from campus and is very insistent that they sit in a specific booth in the back. he grins as he looks over the menu, “it hasn’t changed.”
“why did you bring me here, john?” and she rarely called him john. “to ann arbor. you turned down the all star invite and you choose to spend the one week of vacation time you get in the place where you went to college. and you wanted me to come with you.”
“the day that i signed my elc, i came to this diner, sat in this booth, and ordered the same thing that i’m going to order when gloria walks over here with coffee in about two minutes,” he stares out of the window at the snow falling outside, a slight grin on his face at the memory, “we’ve been doing this for a year, but i feel like you don’t know me at all. i want you to know the place that built me.”
“johnny,” a voice interrupts and a older woman with a gentle smile stands at the edge of the booth with two cups of hot coffe in her hands, “it’s been too long.”
it’s then that she spots the blue jersey behind the counter with beecher and 17 blazing on the back in maize. there’s ink on the number that looks like johnny’s signature and she turns back to the man. she nods her head, interrupting whatever he was saying to gloria, “okay.”

In what ways did William Shatner's portrayal of Captain James T. Kirk differ from the way the character was originally written?
Tumblr media
You really have to look at the difference between Captain Christopher Pike (portrayed by Jeff Hunter in the first Star Trek pilot, “The Cage”) and Captain James Kirk (portrayed by William Shatner in the second Star Trek pilot, “Where No Man Has Gone Before”) to see the evolution of the Captain in Star Trek.
As originally written, the Captain of the USS Enterprise was a rather dark, tormented man who was already thinking of resigning his Starfleet commission (in the pilot episode) because he was fed-up with the demands of leadership. That was Jeff Hunter’s portrayal of Christopher Pike.
^^^ Jeff Hunter’s Captain Pike appeared as almost a reluctant commander. He was introspective and self-doubting and mostly humorless, and he didn’t want the responsibility of issuing life-or-death orders and leading others into deadly situations.
He didn’t like women on the bridge, either, except for his First Officer Number One (because she had no obvious feminine personality).
Pike was also aggressive. He barked most of his lines, he glared a lot, and he was even violently intimidating (choking a frightened and physically-frail Talosian, for example, and directly threatening to burn a hole through the alien at close range).
^^^ If looks could kill, right. No wonder the Talosians concluded that humans were "too violent and dangerous a species for our needs.”
Tumblr media
NBC rejected the first Star Trek pilot for several reasons, including Jeff Hunter’s Christopher Pike, who was considered too intense, angry and not very likable. Gee, wonder why?
Could it be because Jeff Hunter’s controlling wife was often on the set, badgering Hunter as well as the producer and director? That probably made Hunter’s job many times more difficult, and I think it showed in his performance.
When NBC requested a second Star Trek pilot, it was decided to rewrite some characters and do away with others. For example, First Officer Number One was entirely removed from the script; Spock was promoted to First Officer as well as Science Officer; Doctor Boyce (Ship’s Physician and bartender) was also eliminated from the script and replaced with a more down-to-earth country doctor (this was Doctor Piper, who quickly evolved into Doctor McCoy); and Christopher Pike was to be rewritten as a kinder, gentler, more likable Captain.
However, there was a contractual problem, inasmuch as Jeff Hunter had signed to do only one pilot and a series (if NBC bought it)…but he didn’t sign to do two pilots and a series. Gene Roddenberry and Desilu Studios really wanted Jeff Hunter to continue working on the show, but they knew they’d have to cajole Hunter (and his overbearing wife) into signing for a second pilot.
So, Roddenberry called Jeff Hunter in for a post-rejection screening of The Cage to discuss character revisions and signing another contract for another pilot. This is where it got messy.
Desilu production head Herbert Solow was at the screening and described it best:
“In the eyes of the New York and Los Angeles television world, Star Trek was already a failure. But we knew differently and looked forward to running the completed pilot for our star, Jeff Hunter. We hoped it would convince him to do another pilot. Gene and I waited in the Desilu projection room for him to arrive. He never did. Arriving in his stead was actress Sandy Bartlett, Mrs. Jeff Hunter. We traded hellos, and I nodded to Gene. He flicked the projection booth intercom switch. ‘Let's go.’
“As the end credits rolled, and the lights came up, Jeff Hunter's wife gave us our answer: ‘This is not the kind of show Jeff wants to do, and besides, it wouldn't be good for his career. Jeff Hunter is a movie star.’ Mrs. Hunter was very polite and very firm. She said her good-byes and left, having surprisingly and swiftly removed our star from our new pilot.”
–Herb Solow, Inside Star Trek: The Real Story
So, Jeff Hunter just vanished from Star Trek. He wasn’t fired, as some claimed…he quit. Or, more precisely, his beast of a wife quit for him. Two years later (1967), after Star Trek was a success, Jeff Hunter divorced his wife.
As it happened, there was another actor invited to that same screening (quietly taking notes), and that actor was Bill Shatner, who was waiting in the wings when Jeff Hunter opted out.
Thus entered the new Captain of the Enterprise, James R. Kirk.
^^^ Yep, he was actually named James R. Kirk in his first Star Trek appearance: It says so on his tombstone in “Where No Man Has Gone Before,” the second Star Trek pilot.
Shatner’s Kirk was basically just the opposite of Hunter’s Pike. Captain Kirk was thoughtful but not deeply introspective; he was not tormented but was supremely confident and never self-doubting; he loved his ship and crew, but was willing to take life-or-death risks with both; he was perfectly comfortable with women on the bridge (or just women in general); and he could be humorous, if a little irritating.
^^^ Captain Kirk was a more likable, humorous and confident alternative to Christopher Pike.
Captain Kirk, unlike Captain Pike, was always a ready negotiator, offering an olive branch first and only turning to violence as a last resort; indeed, even in violent scenes, Kirk was typically defending himself.
Tumblr media
In short, Shatner portrayed Kirk as a role model for kids. Shatner fully realized that Star Trek was a kids’ show, first and foremost, so he played a kid’s idea of a starship captain…and nailed it.
It became apparent from the second pilot onward that Kirk’s human warmth was a perfect balance for Spock’s icy Vulcan logic (which evolved as the first season of Star Trek progressed). Their dynamic became pure gold for the series and the movie franchise.
^^^ DeForest Kelley’s emotional and quick-tempered Doctor McCoy assumed the role of a counter-character playing against Spock, while Kirk became the reasonable middle-man between the two, and so was born the legendary trio.

Signing In: Impulse - 1
Next
***
It was a slow day at the Town Centre market, but that wasn’t particularly unusual for Impulse, especially since his stand tended to be more out of the way. He and Skizz had been so excited to rent the little thing out all those years ago, when the prospect of growth and wealth was still a reachable fantasy.
“Everyone starts somewhere, and hey, maybe we’re starting a tad late, but we’ve got our little forge and a roof over our heads, so I’d say we’re doing pretty well for ourselves!” Skizz had said, eyeing the other, more favorable booth locations hungrily. “Yeah, we’ll get there.”
“Sure, if we get really good at this really fast,” Impulse huffed, giving Skizz’s shoulder a healthy shove. “Remind me why I let you talk me into a trade profession so late in life? Most of these people have been doing this since they were kids.”
“Of course!” Skizz never got tired of reminding him, responding with the same energy as he had the first time Impulse voiced his doubts, “It’s because you’re miserable! Well, were miserable, because your new life starts today!”
“I thought it started when I quit my old job? Or when you first showed me how to work the forge? Or when I got started on the paperwork for this stand? Or-”
“Many new beginnings! Exciting, isn’t it?” Skizz sighed contentedly, resting his hands behind his head, “Oh yeah, this is gonna be great.”
And it’s not that it wasn’t great, even all these years later. It was fine . It was more than fine! Impulse loved working in the forge with Skizz, even if Skizz wasn’t particularly talented at the trade and Impulse didn’t have enough experience to feel competent at the job. He enjoyed feeling challenged as well as some of the creative freedom he had now, especially opposed to the monotony of the ocean where he fished the same seas for hours in the overbearing sun. Even still, sometimes he missed the security of the repetition. Impulse had a good idea of how much he’d catch, how much he’d make at the end of the day, and if money got tight, he could just put in more hours! Maybe that’s why he had gotten so depressed in the first place; nothing to look forward to but the same seas every hour of every day, doing the same mindless work.
Now, money was always tight. Always. Impulse had never had the luxury of a life without financial burdens, and typically, he wasn’t too bent out of shape about it. He hadn’t ever known anything else, and under normal circumstances, his social class didn’t cause too much earth-shattering stress.
But Skizz was sick. He always seemed to be sick lately, the instances where he was in perfect health getting to be few and far between. Skizz was sick, and medicine was too expensive.
It was a slow day at the Town Centre market, and Impulse found himself staring enviously at the other stalls, stewing in his own stress. He wasn’t as witty or charismatic as the typical shopkeep, his attempts at open charm usually falling flat and making him feel far worse. Was he more of a failure if he didn’t try at all? Skizz made it look so easy, drawing people in with a bright smile and friendly demeanor, as well as that odd half-suit he insisted made him look cool and strong . If you asked Impulse, he’d say it was silly to tear the sleeves off a suit and arguably unprofessional, but whatever Skizz was doing, it seemed to work, so Impulse didn’t tease him too much. Maybe he should be wearing a silly outfit to work. Maybe it would draw more people in. Skizz would probably get a kick out of that, but Impulse wasn’t sure if he was comfortable enough in his own body to make anything like that work. Impulse drummed his nails against the counter, wishing Skizz was here now.
“Hello there! Are you open?”
Impulse startled out of his daze, jumping to his feet, “Yes, yes we’re open,” he deflated, silently cursing his own awkwardness before sliding back onto his stool. He’d scare off potential customers by spacing out like that, even more so by jumping up whenever someone approached. However, the man didn’t seem to mind, leaning eagerly over the counter to get a better look at the various swords for sale. He was dressed nicer than Impulse was used to seeing in this part of town, with bright, clever eyes, typical of a young man with little life experience. No wonder he was here instead of another stall; he surely had enough coin to afford a higher quality weapon.
Shit, Impulse should be talking, shouldn’t he. Be friendly and all that.
“Are you well?” he tried, putting on his best customer service smile. Skizz always said he had a good smile for this type of thing. Nice face. Relaxed, if not a little strained. Disarming, like a sad, single dad. Impulse wasn’t quite sure how he felt about that last comparison, but Skizz was adamant it was a good thing. ‘Good for business! Ha!’
“Oh, never better!” the man said, leaning further over the counter, “You’ve got some nice stuff here! Very nice, very nice.” He sounded exceedingly fake.
Impulse quirked an eyebrow. “Right, well if you’ve got your eye on anything in particular, I can bring it up for you to hold and see how it feels. If it’s easier, you can come on back instead for a better look. I’d rather you not break the table.”
The man laughed, leaning forward on his hands before jumping back to his feet, “Not the table! Yes, yes, I’d love to get a closer look. See, I’ve just arrived here a couple days ago and I’m looking for a new beginning,” he kept talking as Impulse gestured for him to come back, “Now, this isn’t to say I don’t know my way around a sword, I do, but I’ve gotten bored with life back home, and I’m looking for a place with a little more action, you know?” He poked at one of the blades, jumping a little when he discovered it was sharp.
Impulse chuckled, “Usually people that ‘know their way around a sword’ know that end’s pointy.”
“Well a good swordsman doublechecks! Can I pick this one up?”
“Go for it.” Impulse watched with great amusement as the man attempted to lift his chosen weapon with one hand, an almost affronted look crossing his face when he discovered it was heavy. He glanced back, not unlike a cat caught in the act of doing something it shouldn’t, before doubling down, apparently deciding he could salvage his pride. Impulse had to stop himself from laughing when the man managed to pull the sword from the display, his arm shaking with the effort of holding it one-handed.
“Usually, you’d use both hands. I’m sure you’ve seen lots of show fights, but those guys are actors as well as swordsmen. You’re going to want something lighter if that’s what you’re looking for.”
“I- Well of course! Back home the swords are lighter, that’s all, I just got a bit confused.”
“Uh huh. What’s your name, stranger? Where’re you from?”
“My name? Why, I’m Scar! Scar Goodtimes! I don’t have many scars to show for the name, but with any luck, that’ll change real soon! And you?” Scar held out his hand, struggled for a moment with the sword, then put it hurriedly back on the display before reoffering his hand. Impulse shook it. Clearly this guy was an idiot, but if he had money to offer, who cared?
“You can call me Impulse. So you’re an entertainer then?”
“Not quite! The name is confusing, I know, but unrelated to any profession. Though, I wish it was! I love traveling and I especially love meeting new folks such as yourself!”
“Really? What do you do then?”
“Oh, you know. I’ve got myself a little boat to live in and I’ll occasionally take up cargo shipping for some extra cash, boat people around, the like. Though, I’m looking for something a little different now, and I’m planning to settle here for a while.”
“Interesting,” Impulse mused, eyeing Scar’s nice clothes. That money didn’t come from freelance work, not unless you had a nice reputation, and this kid couldn’t even hold a sword. Scar’s eyes narrowed just slightly, something appraising, with an intelligence that felt unnervingly unlike the person he’d just met. Did he know Impulse didn’t believe him? Impulse suddenly felt vulnerable, like the other man could see right through him. He backed up, just a step, but a step that didn’t go unnoticed. Scar cocked his head, almost innocently. Impulse tried not to frown. What was he looking for? A list of every crime Impulse had committed in the past year shot to the forefront of his mind. Not massive stuff mind you, but enough to make him sweat. Impulse hoped with all his will he didn’t have any counterfeit coins lying around. Was Scar here to scout him out? Catch him in the act?
“Are you a cop?” Impulse blurted, immediately mortified with himself. Scar blinked rapidly before doubling over in a massive laughing fit. Impulse put his hands over his face. “I don’t know why I said that. I’m sorry. Unless you are a cop, in which case, cool, great, I love the law.” Scar only laughed harder, Impulse feeling incredibly awkward as he waited for the other man to compose himself. Scar wheezed as he straightened up, eyes shining.
“I am deeply offended, hurt even, you have- I can’t believe it! Cop. I am not a cop!” Scar yelled in mock outrage, although his giggling dampened the effect. Impulse shrunk away as he spotted a couple wandering eyes drawn to the noise.
“aHah yes! Cops! We love cops. And the law. Yes,” Impulse struggled to save face, but Scar either didn’t hear or didn’t care.
“Impulse!” he bellowed, “I’ll say, that is probably the second or third worst thing anyone has ever called me. Why, I should just march right on out of here and back to my boat! Lick my wounds and cry about it! Cop. I can’t believe that.” Impulse shrunk back into his stand, hoping no one would see him. At this point, Scar leaving would probably be best for business, (and not getting arrested) but the man didn’t look like he actually planned on going anywhere.
“Do I even want to ask?” Impulse tried, and Scar lit up.
“Doctor! The worst by far!” Scar threw up his hands, though the facade of his frustration was dampened a little by the smile across his face. ‘Goodtimes’ seemed to suit Scar; he was certainly a performer.
“Doctor. Really.” Impulse didn’t bother to hide his skepticism, crossing his arms, “Wouldn’t be my first guess.”
“Well you don’t have to sound so surprised!” Scar huffed, tutting to himself then continuing in a tangentially related rant. Impulse rubbed the bridge of his nose. No winning with this guy then. Scar was an animated storyteller, waving his arms in sweeping gestures and forcing Impulse to scramble just to keep him from knocking all his wares off the shelves. It was hard to tell if Scar was just clueless, or if he enjoyed watching Impulse fumble around.
“Alright, alright, out with you,” Impulse had to reach to grab Scar’s arms, shoving them to his sides and away from his displays before pushing him out from behind the counter. Scar was not to be discouraged, continuing with the sort of confidence only people who got kicked out of stands often could have.
“-and you wouldn’t believe this lady, I’d say all nice-like ‘sorry, I can’t help you with your dumbass kid,’ and she starts going on and on about how I’ll never be a real doctor and I’m like LADY that’s the GOAL-”
“So you worked in medicine before this? Seems like a good gig, must’ve paid well,” Impulse cut in, struggling between amusement and the desire to preserve any sort of professionalism he had for any potential customers passing by.
To Impulse’s great relief, Scar brought the volume down, resting his elbows on the counter with his head in his hands, “Guess you could say that.” That calculating look returned to Scar’s eyes, searching. For what, Impulse wasn’t quite sure. He turned around, if not to avoid Scar’s eye, then to right some of the smaller displays Scar had knocked askew.
“I’m getting the impression you weren’t too fond of the work.”
“I don’t know about that.”
“Well for someone who enjoys the sound of his own voice so much, you don’t seem all too eager to talk about it. What, are you squeamish?” Impulse risked the tease, turning around to see Scar’s amused expression turn to mock-offense.
“Say what you want about my ego, but I am not squeamish.”
“No?”
“No! And that’s gotten me into trouble before, let me tell ya. I didn’t realize blood and gore and things bothered people at all for the longest time, I mean, I grew up around that shit, and my dad certainly wasn’t concerned! Now he’s a doctor, a real stiff kinda man, kinda sucks the life out of everything.”
“So not a ‘Goodtime…s’”
Scar brightened, laughing, “Yeah! Exactly! Anyway, so I was with this girl, right? Lovely person, really, she was great, but oh boy you would not believe how pale she got when I was explaining about this crazy livestock accident- I’ll spare you the details, but I did not spare her anything, and whew, I’ve never had anyone grab my hands so tight. She said- well- she said my name, she said I was a freak! I was like thirteen! I am a changed man, Impulse, changed I tell you. I didn’t see her for a whole month after that, and the whole time I thought she was the freak! Y’know I told my dad, I told him, and you know what he said?”
“Hey, are you going to buy something?”
“ Women . That’s what he said. Women. He didn’t even look at me! I look down at my own tits like okay, this doesn’t answer any of my questions, but hey! Me and her are still friends now, at least, before I left. I’ll visit for sure, for sure.”
“Scar.”
“Yes, Impulse!”
“You are lovely. You are.”
“Yes!”
“But if you’re not going to buy anything, I’m going to need to free up the stand for other customers. I’ve got to put food on the table tonight.”
“Oh yes, yes, a personality this big takes up a lot of space! I understand!” Scar rummaged around in his pockets, then flicked two silver coins onto the counter, “For your time then, yeah?"
“You don’t have t-”
“Goodbye!” Scar trailed the ‘e’ as he swiveled around, skipping in the opposite direction. Impulse couldn’t help but gape after him, any previous words lost on his lips. He looked at the time and cringed, unsure if it was good or bad that so much had passed. At least he wasn’t bored. Well then. He’d have quite the story for Skizz after packing up for the night, that was for sure. Maybe that alone made the loss of time worth it. Impulse resituated on his stool, looking out over the market.
Maybe he’d see Scar again sometime soon.

Alex (SDV) - Sweet Tooth
Word Count: 453
"Oh! That stand actually works?"
Alex turned once he heard the loud, unmistakable hiss of a minecart, offering his signature smile in return for a somewhat frazzled grin from the town’s newest arrival. She wiped the soot off of her face while clambering out of her seat, readjusting the straps of her bag as several pounds of rock pressed against her back. "Hey, farm girl. Coming from the mines?"
"What gave it away?" She watched him lean against the counter as she approached, nearly motioning to do the same until she remembered the patches of slime still on her sleeves. She made a show of rolling them up before leaning in his face as well. "Dirty clothes not bothering you this time?"
"Hey, different people, different tastes. And this is pretty regular for you."
She raised a brow. "Meaning...?"
"Meaning," he threw right back, gesturing vaguely with his hand. "You're the only one I know that can make all... this... kind of work."
"Maybe you should join me next time, then. See if it starts growing on you too."
"Listen, you've got your thing, I've got mine. I'm plenty busy as it is."
She looked down to hide a laugh, pretending to clear her throat while turning to the signs. "Ice cream's more your speed, huh?" He shrugged and she hauled herself over to the proper front of the booth. "I didn't know this place still ran."
"Only in the summers. You're the first customer this year."
"That means I get a discount, right?"
"Nice try. It's 250g, even for all the pretty girls." He clicked the scooper a couple times while opening the tins, all freshly churned and untouched after being empty since last year. "So what'll it be? It should be good this time around, considering half of it's from your farm."
"Wait, you made this?"
"Yeah? Grandma had a machine, so it was just finding the recipes..." He looked back up once he noticed her stare, clicking the scooper again to distract from his reddening face. "What?"
Her eyelids fluttered as she tried to picture it. This cocky, arrogant little jock, trading in his varsity for an apron just to bake with his grandma. Carefully measuring milk and sugar to try and find the perfect blend. The corners of her mouth threatened to twitch into a grin. "...Nothing," she dismissed through tight lips, resisting the urge to ask if he'd teach her someday. "I'll get one of each. Four scoops."
"Sweet tooth, huh? Me too. Good choice." She tossed a few coins in the tip jar before taking the towering cone, watching his smile subconsciously widen at the brush of their fingertips. "See you around."
"Mm. You've got a new regular."

:{ A photo is embedded. Dubwool Diner, Nimbasa. 12/13/23 5:42pm. }:
The lighting in this small space is stark and bright, showing off the chrome and bright red accents of this 50's themed diner. There's an energetic sort of mood in this place, people filling the booths and counters talking happily as waitresses move from table to table taking orders and handing out standard Unovan diner food.
That mood is no different between the focus of this photo; the two figures sitting opposite each other and excitedly signing back and forth as they wait for their order. Amy seems to have left behind the recognizable white coat, trading it out for a simple flower patterned blue button down, their hair partially pulled back into a braid that falls down their back. Nix himself wears a light pink espurr patterned short sleeved button down, the white furred cloak on the back of his chair complimenting his black-palmed gloves.

Connichi 2023 Recap!
I'm baaack! From my first anime convention in what must have been years (last one was around 2016???) and it was so much fun!! So many amazing cosplayers, and I was walking around with my friend who was in a cute Vash cosplay, just visiting the artists' booths for the whole day yesterday.
Cosplay Recap:
Might have been squealing for my friend's attention when I spotted a Tristamp group with a Wolfwood. Found several Vash's, all of whom were very very sweet, had a lucky photo bomb with a Roberto in the background, but didn't get a photo of a Wolfwood sadly.
Beautiful Witch Hat Atelier cosplays with the cutest Agott ever
A way of the Househusband Cosplay!!
The COOLEST Ace Attorney Phoenix and Edgeworth Cosplay. They had "OBJECTION!" signs
Magi and D.Gray-Man cosplay in the year of the lord 2023, bless.
Mob and Dimple!!
And Sophie and Howl ♥
One of the few times that I bought merch for myself, several amazing stickers and a vashwood card to die for, which I'll post with links to the artists tomorrow or later! Cause I need to show you!
The Conhon:
I finally got another Conhon entry by a very sweet artist (I think I'll ask if I may show it to you too with credit) and my friend BUT: my conhon is still very much very empty. I'm thinking fondly back to the times when I'd sit with a group of unknown people but familiar fandom, everbody just throwing their conhons in the middle and you grab the nearest and draw a little something and then pass it back. I feel like that's not so much a thing anymore but we need that back! If I ever ever am at a con were you are too and you have a conhon please let me know and we'll meet up and draw conhon entries for each other!!
(info: the Connichi was in Wiesbaden in Germany. I'm not super often at Cons but that's quite in the vicinity and I might try to visit more in the next years. I'm not joking please tell me when we'd be visiting the same con and wouldn't mind sitting around for some time trading conhons (sitting down as far as the con allows, but there's always some space on the side, or better yet outside if the weather is fine) )

My con spoils! It's been like four years since I've been to a con so I splurged more than I usually did but it was lots of fun, may post some cosplay pics and/or selfies later when I sift through the photos.
Top photo is all my headshot autographs and the custom caricature from Kristen Mcguire, the Tohru one was actually drawn by her VA which was neat.
Second pic is all the things I got signed, my original Pokedex from 1999 before they added Mew which shocked Ash's VA since it was before she even had the role. Got Luci Christian added to my One Piece manga volume next to Coleen Clickenbeard from last time. Added Elizabeth Maxwell's Urbosa to my signed copy of Breath of the Wild that I got Zelda and Sidon's VA's to sign last time and got Patricia Summersett to sign Tears of the Kingdom so I have the pair, Charles Martinet signed my copy of 3D All Stars and commented on how flexible I was squeezing between the tables for the selfie so my limberness is Mario-approved XD. Tara Platt signed my Three Houses copy and I added Clifford Chapin to my My Hero Academia volume along with Coleen, Chris Sabat, and Justin Briner and he yelled that I should've come to him first so I got yelled at by Bakugo so that seems fitting. At the bottom I got all my pins and stickers, Gawr Gura keychain, Boba Tea Bulbasaur, Makima and Nami stickers, Raymond and Carrot pins and my trader Jawa spoils with a coin and mini Gonk Droid I traded for a coke can.
Third pic is two things I got at the con that have signatures on the inside, Kakashi's booth was selling Make-Out Paradise notebooks so I got him and Yuri Lowenthal to sign it and the Chainsaw Man volume I bought prior has a funny story, I got Aki's VA to sign the inside and then Power started signing the cover so I went to stop her and she finished the cover and did the inside too, Denji's VA liked the story so much he decided to do the same so they could 'be idiot siblings together' and I also got Makima on the inside. And of course next is my plushies, got Pochita, Marin, Mini-Makima and Nobara
Next two pics are my new Dragon Maid S Wall Scroll which replaced my old One Piece one I got from Disney like ten years ago and several posters I got, found the only Hololive booth and got a Calli and Gura poster as well as a Kobayashi/Tohru Wedding pic from the Artist's Alley the Majora's Mask poster is actually a holographic print that switches between Link and Skull Kid so that's cool.
And last but not least I got some figures, Summer Musashi, Bloomers Umu, Rebecca in the Solider outfit, Makima, and a lightly used Homura Akemi.
Lots of fun stuff, now I just gotta find places to put it all XD
And for anyone that reached the end, here's my pic from the Burlesque show Friday night.
