How is no one talking about the trans barbie? It's awesome to have representation. I hope she's in more acting gigs.

can you do the trans barbie flag by puriette
Tumblr media
This Flag was requested by Anonymous!
Trans Barbie is a term and flag coined by @puriette describing a gender related to being a trans Barbie!
This Magical Girl has a Barbie theme, specifically an Earring Magic Barbie theme! She uses She/Her pronouns!
Her name is Tutti, after a discontinued version of one of Barbie’s siblings! She has knowledge far beyond what she should, allowing her to use the skills of doctors, farmers, veterinarians, firefighters, detectives, astrophysicists, chemists, baseball players, pilots, bee keepers, and many more! Essentially, if the Barbie DOLL has had the career, Tutti can use her skills!
Her Magical Girl Weapon are a pair of indestructible ribbon wands, as a reference to the Three Musketeers Barbie movie! Tutti can use them to trip up or otherwise impede and immobilize her enemies!
A useless fact about her is that her favorite movie as a kid was Fairytopia 3: Magic of the Rainbow, but she fucking despised Bibble with a passion. She’s growing past that and admits he has a bit of a place in her heart now.
The Magical Kid Project is a project wherein I steadily turn Pride Flags into Magical Kids. You can request a Flag and Theme using Comments, Reblogs, or Asks!

I saw Barbie Sunday night and one thing that's stuck with me was Doctor Barbie. I knew going in she was being played by the beautiful and talented Hari Nef but I had no idea how much she would be in the film. Would she get a line? Would she get a close up? Would she show up more than once? Etc. These were the thoughts in my head going into Barbie. Well those and "I'm so excited for this movie."
I loved this movie a whole lot. Is it perfect ? No. But it's pretty damn close for a toy movie made by Warner Bros. But specifically I want to focus on Doctor Barbie. I was so incredibly overjoyed to see her have an actual presence in the film. As much as any other Barbie that wasn't Margot Robbie. She had lines. She was part of the plot. All that jazz. AND she was even called beautiful. And throughout the whole film not once is anything done to point out her transness because it didn't matter. She was a woman, just like all the other Barbies, in a role that could have been played by any woman. But they chose to have a trans woman play it.
I watch a lot of movies. Like an obscene amount. And not once in my life have I seen a trans woman have an actual supporting cast role in a big summer blockbuster. Let alone a supporting role that wasn't explicitly a trans character. And to me that is so awesome.
Yes this is a capitalist product. Yadda yadda yadda. BUT it's also, like any good movie, a form of expression. So when a major movie studio and a major toy company both allow a character relevant enough to get their own character poster be played by a trans actress it means a lot to me. Not because Warner Bros and Mattel are "good corporations" or anything. But because it shows progress in our society. Even 5 years ago I don't think that would have happened. And it shows how out of touch the GOP are with reality. Because if trans people were really on the way out a major capitalist product would not be inclusive of us. I'd be lying if I said I didn't cry from joy about this realization after the film
Thank you for coming to my TEDx talk.

Okay but here's the thing, Allan is just that a metaphor and even then it's a metaphor the audience made up as it was never the true intention of the film yes Allan is nor barbie or Ken but its never implied he's trans representation. So, as a trans person, I am asking you to please listen to trans people when we say we're upset about something cause. Guess what? We can be. That doesn't mean you have to stop liking barbie film or Allan or giving him whatever headcannons you want but when trans people are saying it's a shame there is no actual trans representation in a film produced by a big cooperation who shows most of the barbies as nothing but skinny, conventionally attractive white girls with the exception of a few for diversity points please listen to us. Also, I think your post is quite rude in the way it's formatted cause many people can be upset and speak out, and it seeks like your post is trying to shut down any critical thoughts we may have. This isn't an attack. I'm not trying to be rude but please listen to us
I AM trans myself.
Just because a movie doesn’t have any trans representation doesn’t make it transphobic oh my god. My post was a joke post because so-called ‘critical thinkers’ are just whining about no explicit representation when that in no way makes something transphobic. Your points make no sense. Also, just incorrect?? There IS a trans Barbie?? Who is?? Never mentioned to be trans?? Because it isn’t important?? She’s just a woman and it doesn’t matter if she’s trans or not???
Also you must’ve not watched the movie where there is an EXTREMELY diverse cast of all body types and skin colors and backgrounds and everything so please go rewatch the movie because you’re clearly so blinded by your desire to call everything that isn’t explicitly LGBTQ-focused ‘transphobic’ for no other reason than 1) main couple white 2) main character conventionally pretty. Bro. It’s fucking Barbie. The POINT of the damn movie IS that she’s a conventionally attractive woman who loses that conventional attractiveness and comes to love herself because of it because all women are beautiful no matter what.
Btw Allan is 1000% non-binary/trans representation of being outside of the heteronormonity of society. It’s called ‘something being heavily implied’ and if you’re a film critic as you seem to be then you should know what that is. And also my film was a joke. Stop being so serious for no reason and just have fun about a silly little film about dolls. Not everything that has white people or straight people is “transphobic” be SO for real rn
(This is the post they’re referencing btw. Again it is a Joke post after someone in my inbox told me to KILL MYSELF and called me a slur after I tried to explain that Barbie isn’t transphobic for not saying the word transgender or whatever this stupid ass argument is)
