I strive to be that person again. But while it’s easier to love and empathize with my inner 5 year old self, some day I hope I’ll be able to hug my inner 13 year old self too. Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe 🐱

Trans rep: 10/10

General enjoyment: 7/10

Age rating: 10+

Its kinda wild it took me so long to do this one, cause it’s probably one of the most well known trans comics. I remember sitting in the floor of a library 3 or 4 years back and reading this book start to finish. It just made sense in this bizarre way that even now I cant really explain. Im not amab and im not genderqueer (I’m fem-nonbinary btw), but exploring your gender isn’t restricted to one kind of experience.

This graphic novel is actually a memoir telling the story of the author’s gender exploration. E discusses eir childhood and adolescence, as well as eir experience as an adult fully coming to terms with eir gender (and sexuality). The trans representation in the book is some of the best you will ever come across given that is is written by a trans person with a deep understanding of trans identities. I think my only issue with this comic is that, as a memoir, its just not the most engaging story in the world. Thats not to say that you should hesitate from reading it, just not to expect a traditional story.

It really just is exhausting trying to keep up with all of these, but as it is a major way that I let people know this comic exists, I keep trying them as they pop up. Who knows how many will still exist when this strip runs. lol (Yeah, I know that I misspelled "Mastodon", but I'm pretty sure it's dead again, sooo... I'm not worried about it. lol)

My little sisters have to be my favorite people to have come out to.

The older one was just immediately "Oh, what are your pronouns?" and "I always wanted a brother." And she had her friends start using he/him for me and they genuinely see me as a man.

I never really formally came out to my baby sister but she's gen alpha and her favorite plushies are her family of frogs with trans and gender-nonconforming parents so she heard someone use he/him for me and has kinda rolled with it.

"Belgian transport workers’ unions, on Tuesday, called on their members to refuse to handle military equipment being sent to Israel to battle Hamas gunmen, Reuters reports.

The ACV Puls, BTB, BBTK and ACV-Transcom unions said in a joint statement that airport workers have seen arms shipments.

While genocide is under way in Palestine, workers at various airports in Belgium are seeing arms shipments in the direction of the war zone

the statement said.

Israel says it is targeting Hamas military operations and not civilians in Gaza.

A Belgian government spokesperson declined to comment on whether arms were shipped to the region via Belgium.

The unions said that loading or offloading these weapons would mean contributing to supplying organisations that kill innocent people.

We, several unions active in ground logistics, call on our members not to handle any flights that ship military equipment to Palestine/Israel, like there were clear agreements and rules at the start of the conflict with Russia and Ukraine

the unions said.

The unions also called for an immediate ceasefire and asked the Belgian government to not tolerate arms shipments through Belgian airports.

“As unions, we stand with those who campaign for peace,” they said.

Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators rallied in cities in Europe, the Middle East and Asia on Saturday to show support for the Palestinians."

Hey @mrtobenamedlater you wondered why I was looking at Halo videos earlier, this is it.

“Pull over.  Let me drive for awhile.”

“This cave is not a natural formation. Someone built it, so it must lead somewhere.”

“Noted, Cortana,” John said tersely.

“And who built it?” Riz asked from the gunner’s position.

“I know as much as you do,” John managed not to snap the answer.

“Chief, throttle down,” Cortana advised. “We’re on a five percent grade and the surface is too smooth to provide traction.”

John gritted his teeth and obeyed. Even so, he could feel the vehicle getting away from him.

“I’ve hacked into the Covenant battle network Cortana spoke up again. “They’re broadcasting tactical data on unencrypted channels.”

“They’re what?” Kai asked. Cortana must have broadcast to the whole team.

“Let’s show them who they’re dealing with,” Vannak added.

“An excellent idea, Vannak,” Cortana chirped. “Master Chief, I’m going to use your suit’s TRANSCOM system to monitor the chatter.”

“Do it,” John said shortly. He swung the Warthog around another corner.

“Chief? Everything all right?” Kai asked.

I’m headed into a not-naturally-constructed cave underground on a super-weapon. Everything’s great. “Yup.” John shifted the Warthog to its lowest gear.

Silver Team came to the bottom of the hill and the Warthog’s engine protested.

“I don’t like the way this thing sounds,” Riz said.

John didn’t either, but he didn’t want to traverse this unknown on foot. He geared up and hit the accelerator.

The Warthog lurched and scraped the wall.

“Chief.” Kai sounded genuinely concerned. “Pull over. Let me drive for awhile.”

“I’m fine,” John insisted. He gunned the engine. The Warthog slid downhill, then jumped forward to the top of the hill.

The path sloped down sharply and curved and much as John tried to maintain control, the Warthog toppled over and took all of Silver Team with it.

“Chief? Chief!” Cortana called.

“I’m fine,” John grunted. “Everyone else?”

“I’m good, Chief.” Riz.

“Fine, Chief.” Vannak.

Kai flipped the Warthog upright. “You should have let me drive, Chief.”

“You really should have,” Cortana said.

John got to his feet. “You know what, Kai?” He panted. “You drive.”

i saw marichelle was type INTP. ako nakakita sa kanya.

nalaman ko na frustrated naman lahat sa paghahanap ng trabaho talaga. she would be nailed to the cross also if i did not know how to explain to people why she really has a job as a translator at transcom.

i have to tell a person that marichelle really likes cartoons. she actually thinks the computer is full of cartoons. all the logos are like childhood, sabi niya kasi sa sarili niya.

so actually, hirap ba ang teenagers maka-understand na gusto mo na sa mga binibigay sayo ng magulang mo talaga? ang daya naman ni aling marichelle kasi mukha na siyang hindi pinapansin ng tao talaga: a heavy helping of pitch on her face.

kaya sabi nila: you're not popular also! tell us the way!

i'm going to say....along the way they are saying she is not creative. i have an extra website. i have tumblr talaga. then i have vsco pa?

i gave vsco to marich para yan yung hobby niya talaga: cellphone photography. (so no one should be asking about a person with no hobbies anymore. wala nang may stick-on hobbies. marichelle already got it @)
