I've been thinking about Winx Club for some reason and I gotta say

One of the things I always kinda wanted was for the girls to have more of their powers incorporated into their Transformations. Like, they all kinda just had some generic cute sparkly outfits. I think Flora and Techna were the only ones to look a little themed, but still. It would've been nice for the rest of them to go hog wild, you know?

And by that I mean "give me Dragon Girl Bloom you absolute COWARDS!!!!"

I only just started following but I have a couple questions. Are werewolves a thing and what bit of lore are you really proud of/had a sudden idea that just spiraled out?

So the clinical term for any human that transforms into an animal/more animalistic form during a specific celestial phenomenon is "Cyclical Zoothropy", of which wolf-transforming humans that have thier transfrmation cycles triggered by the "full moon"* are only a small slice.

All cases of CZ have been traced back to a single curse accidentally placed by Ancient Mesopotamian wizards approximately 20,000 to 40,000 years ago. The going theory is that they were attempting to create solar-powered super-soldiers and really, really REALLY messed it up.

Cyclical Zoothropy is a blood-bourne curse, and is transmitted in similar fashion as many fluid transfer diseases- through bites, sexual contact, or ineffective filtering by the placenta from mother to child. Certain strains of CZ have drugs that reduce the symptoms and contagiousness, but it's generally advised to avoid bites or direct sexual contact with anyone if you think you might have CZ.

"...wouldn't you know if you had it because you turn into a horse every time Orion is visible in the sky?" Not necessarily! Some cases of Cyclical Zoothropy can lie dormant for years or generations because the celestial phenomenon they're associated with is so rare. When Hale-Bopp came around in '97, more than a few people were in for QUITE the surprise! Other transformations are triggered by more erratic phenomena, like the presence of solar flares, or when meteor showers reach a certain intensity.

Turning into an animal or developing a more animal-like body isn't a good indicator either, because there are quite a few things that can cause someone to suddenly and spontaneously transform, like misdirected curses, living near a magically powerful artifact, gaining the 'favor' of a powerful entity, or eating random mushrooms you found in the woods. If you do suddenly experience transformative symptoms, please isolate yourself and contact a medical professional for tesing immediately. CZ and other transformative curses are extremely variable in nature and can effect people in unexpected ways. Also, humans have an extremely high tolerance for toxins that most animals do not, so stay away from the chocolate, avocado, oions, xylitol and grapes.

That said, CZ is a very treatable and livable condition, and there are many people with CZ that live very celebrated lives. Many lycanthropes find fulfilling work as search-and-rescue professionals, disease diagnosticians or taste-testers. The famous "Lassie" was portrayed by beloved actor "Pal" Weatherwax for almost two decades to great critical acclaim.

That said, due to the widespread nature of CZ, (while CZ is not common, it is found worldwide across regionality, ethnicity, sex, gender and class. If you know more than 100 people, odd are you know SOMEONE with CZ) certain public accommodations have been made- medical time off for transformations is legally protected in most countries, and discrimination against people with CZ is increasingly discouraged and banned under the law. Wearing excessive amounts of perfume or cologne is considered extremely rude and is grounds for barring someone from entering an enclosed space like a plane or public transit. Food labeling laws to prevent accidental poisonings came about much earlier in most of the world and even trace amounts of commonly-toxic-to-animal ingredients must be reported.

I need to rant about silas, the dog boy, because I think everything is way worse than depicted in the game.

literally, think about it. silas, the dog boy. on the posters, on the tents, everywhere. does that look like a once-a-month gig the circus does? eliza used silas as an attraction, but would it be much of a help if he was a normal kid the whole month and turned on a full moon? nope, no. zero money in that. plus, kaylee and caleb saw him at least twice. which means, he was probably in his wolfish form all the time. and I'm saying wolfish, because in order to call him a dog boy, you'd need to see both parts, right? turned werewolves in the game are quite antropomorphic, but I think there was probably a mix of wolf and human features.

which means, silas was stuck in his wolf form - or between the wolf and the human, closer to an animal. to support that, travis said he'd heard stories about the white wolf (not an albino boy!), plus they'd been hunting silas but he was untraceable (an albino boy travelling on his own would have attracted more attention, no?). and would a literal boy be able to support himself, mostly in the woods, for six years? no, but a wolf might. so, that's that.

anyway, the fact that he was stuck mid-transformation is probably why he was left behind by his pack. come on, nobody becomes a werewolf just 'cause, duh. he was most likely bitten or born into lycanthropy within a werewolf pack that was, at some point, living in the forest or passing through it, which seems more logical (since there hadn't been any wolf incidents before). it's a common fact that wild animals tend to leave or even kill their cubs if they are weak/unviable in any way, so my guess is:

silas was already on thin ice for being an albino as the pack might have rejected him for unnatural appearance;

besides pigmentation, albinism majorly affects eyesight. silas wouldn't be able to hunt (if you thought the scrapyard fight was sloppy, that could be why), was an easy target for other predators, and generally was a weaker link in the pack's chain;

and what really sealed the deal, he must have stuck between forms during one of the transfrmations. perhaps it was his first one ever, and things went horribly wrong in his organism. I'd say there's a 50-50 chance the body can handle such a change, especially if we're talking about a child's body, and he got unlucky.

so he got left behind by his pack and ended up with eliza. he was a child, he was majorly disfigured in his human form (though still transformed on full moons, I think?), and she put him to use as a circus act. love is love, but pennies don't come easy.

that's not all, though. as we've seen from the game, turning into a werewolf also means a shift in mind. human consciousness is replaced by an animal one, so that might mean that silas's mind was also split. it would help eliza's dog boy act, too, because who wouldn't want to visit a circus and see a growling boy-dog eating raw meet? (me, I wouldn't. ugh) hard to imagine what was going on in his head. he must have resisted being 'saved' by kaylee/caleb and lashed out as a wolf. I think he was mainly running on animal instincts with a pinch of human attachments and emotions.

fast forward six years, and he still returns to the camp site, sleeps in his cage, and roams the forests. his human part of the mind is tied to the place. also, maybe he returned because he was subconsciously hunting the hacketts if he remembered kaylee/caleb's scent from the night of the fire? could be a thing. they made it all happen and inadvertently killed eliza, his carer, his own little wolf pack.

but when we kill him, when the wolf is dead and does not affect his mind of body anymore, he is finally able, for the first time in ages, to return to his human form. a boy who's lived as a horrible hybrid was able to die human. and that's truly the best ending for him. sorry, silas. you did nothing wrong but sometime a tragedy is just something woven into your life and you can't thread it out.

I'll give one thing that I liked about Dynamite last night : CHRISTIAN'S BACK! God I miss the Christian vs JB feud. However, if they were to have another match at Revolution, I'd make the result whatever was supposed to happen at All Out (minus Luchasaurus), Christian wins, normally. And then Jack gets the win at DON in a stip match. I feel like ever since JB beat Luchasaurus he's kinda fallen back a bit and needs to go through a *bit* more hell and a transfrmation before he's gotten the right to beat Christian.

There absolutely was good things about dynamite, theres never been a dynamite that has all misses.

Christian being back, the MJF/Danielson promo, Ruby winning and consistantly having some good momentum, Mark Briscoe being there and doing good shit.

Plus the rest of the Revolution card looks pretty spot on right now, just need the formal announcements and i think we'll get them on Rampage or Dynamite.

Theres never been a dynamite that has been ALL bad.

Monthly Gem Challenge: Welo (Honeycomb) Opal

Just like last month, we’re giving you an unusual gem and challenging you to design a gemsona based on it! You can go as in-depth with your character designs as you’d like: come up with their personality and backstory, or just show what you think they’d look like. They can even be a fusion if you prefer; the choice is up to you!

This month’s gem is Welo (Honeycomb) Opal! (If you already have a Honeycomb Opal gemsona, you can still drop them in the MGC tag, this month is for all Honeycomb Opals, old or new!)

Gem Meaning: (Note: You can use the gem’s meaning to help you come up with ideas for your gemsona, but it’s not a requirement). Opals represent transfrmation, amplifying and reflecting emotions just like it reflects and absorbs light. It’s also said to grant the wearer excellent foresight.

Cool Facts: This gem is also called Ethiopian Opal, or Ethiopian Welo Opal! The name “Honeycomb Opal” is also popular since the flecks of color in this gem can sometimes look reminiscent of a honeycomb (though they look a bit like dragon scales too)! The name Opal came from the Greek word “opallios” which means changing colors (the word is also likely adapted from Sanskirt’s “upala” which means precious stone). This particular variety of opal is formed in the nodules within volcanic ash, in seams between rhyolite layers. 

Due to a series of unfortunate coincidences, there's an old superstition that if Opal isn't your birthstone, it's unlucky to wear one (but of course, there’s no real proof behind that)!

Your blog claims you are a magical girl as well as a toxin witch. So is your magical girl power making toxins, or do you just brew toxins as a witch and you have a completely separate magical girl power?

Uh, hmm. I guess my powers are mostly poison based. Uh, i guess a toxic power would bee.. i don't know actually. I guess just making potions with buffs and debuffs, like sleeping potions, paralysis, maybe something for enhancing something or someone's abilities. Changing size or shape. Uhh, maybe something to make someone suggestible/controllable. Plus standard mahou shoujo stuff like a cute outfit, a staff/weapon, and a transfrmation sequence.Actually i rather fancy the idea of raising the dead.I guess I'm the villain though. Hopefully the season 1 villain who gets reformed and then joins the main cast.I need to think about this more. Danke schon anon darling.
