If there's a forest around Nightmare's castle, it should most definitely be completely dead and ashen. The leaves (if there are any left on the trees) either carry a complete grey or dull dark blue tone to them and the tree barks also resemble more dark blue or just straight up black and it's completely silent...... the kind where you know for a Fact there is absolutely nothing and it's more scary that you're completely alone and No One will find you if you get lost

#text #Even better if it's located directly in Dreamtale #it's just far enough from the old barren tree and the dead villagers #But that also wouldn't really matter because the forest has grown over everything and Nimh has taken back what is rightfully hers #even beyond her “early” grave #plus Dreamtale's forest is practically infinite (another reason also why you wouldn't wanna get lost in it) with trees just large and #coiled tight enough that even without the leaves you just Won't Know where the castle is if you're not native or lived there for a while #nightmares castle/manor/home (whichever you prefer) can also change facades... likely because it's made of negative energy and forest #I guess that's a plus there xd it may fail to be tangible at some spots due to its nature but it can also grow and shrink in size in #every way!! x)#OKAY IM YAPPJNG OVER #dreamtale #nightmare sans #nightmare!sans #utmv #Undertale au #I should write my fic and not drop every thought here instead 🙏

#people very much want to blame readers for a lack of engagement with fic these days but frankly i think this is.... incorrect #we need to be real about WHAT ao3 is #it is an archive #it is not a space that is particularly conducive to social engagement #the most collaborative experiences i ever had around fic happened on livejournal #it was not on ff.net #like i agree that there is a depressing drop off in like...idk the idea of the social acceptability of leaving comments #and a far more pronounced divide between readers and authors #but this isn't happening bc readers suck now and they're selfish and entitled which frankly is how many posts opining about this issue sound #it's not like lurking or sorting by complete works only is NEW #these are things that have always happened #what has CHANGED imo is that the spaces where fic happens and the spaces where fandom happens are now very different #and isolated from one another #and we can blame readers for not bridging that gap all we want but it's not gonna fix it #especially since we know how well shaming people for Not Enjoying Things Correctly tends to go #like i don't have an answer to this problem but i think this ''you're entitled!'' ''no YOU'RE entitled'' back and forth #between writers and readers certainly isn't going to fix anything either #it's only going to push those two groups further away from each other #to my mind what we need is a) a platform more conducive to collabortive fic writing and fandom interaction #(think LJ or old dedicated fandom message boards)#and b) a cultural shift within fandom spaces away from this idea that authors are like... untouchable or whatever #bc from what I have observed authors who DON'T have this issue are ones who started creating fanworks from within a pre-existing friendgroup #a pre-existing readership really #and these little subsets then grow into larger readerships #the problem is how partioned all these group start #and that i think is a byproduct of an overall more hostile fandom space where people feel like they can't speak or create openly #without being in danger of running afoul of some fandom scold and their lackeys #like fandom has never lacked for drama but i do think in a post-tumblr/twitter fandom space we can all agree that shit jas gotten Buckwild #*gestures at how bg3 fandom recently speedran fandom insanity primarily on twitter*#shit is different these days and blaming each other for that is missing the forest for the trees

we have a cottonwood tree somewhere nearby-ish and where we live, airflow, tree buffers, all that, really causes it to just settle in and cycle around this area

it looks like fucking snow outside on the ground and in the air 😭😭😭

#i mean. i never leave my house without a mask #tbph i never leave my BEDROOM without a mask #(ik that one sounds genuinely paranoid #but my family is not the greatest at masking #and covid is contagious before it is necessarily obvious #so i try to give myself a bit of a buffer if someone happens to bring it home #also just habit by now)#if we had the room i'd honestly be tempted to plant a “”“female”“” cottonwood tree (i don't like gendering trees it's silly)#one that would take in and utilize the pollen #it couldn't rly compete outright but hey it'd be smth!!#unfortunately we do Not have enough of a garden to do that

How do you live knowing you are cherished and treasured?#Voices are like everything #The soul wraps around them in the throat and leaves claw marks and pawprints as they come out #Rabbit with pricked ears new spring grass cold fresh water an ember to the skin flowers smelling sweet when they first open #Deep clear night with stars river running over rocks smoke from the fire as the embers begin to die a calm gentle familiarity #A trembling fawn a hand unsteadily around a branch a breath inwards eyes opening and not closing #A marten skittering up a tree morning finchsong little wings fluttering laughter in chest summer sun on cold water #A large animal gentle in knowledge of its power a laughter ready to be used a bright smile from the side cattail dust in the air #<- these are my friends voices #The way people smile is so lovely too #Looking downwards slightly; eyes closed lips together; with teeth joyfully; genuinely without thought of any other option #Idk people are so gorgeous im just really in love with them #One of my friends has an eye colour so breathtaking I cant get over it #Every time I see them I have to like remind myaelf to be normal and not just stare at their eyes #I think I do a bit anyways but its okay theyre so. been doing lil things on our minecraft server and it's. so nice. to have these tiny projects that add up to big things. i made a flower farm. then i decided to build a greenhouse around it. then another day i changed the shape of it up so it would work better. then another day i shaded it. then, today, months after starting, i filled it in with a bit more greenery on the inside. next time i'm going to add the quirky scientist set-up ladders and hanging bed included. it's going to be lovely!!

#minecraft #also been doing lots of pathways when i wasnt feeling particularly creative. or just slightly creative.#its so nice to be able to open the game do a lil something and then leave having accomplished at least something #that will make my life a lil easier the next time i load the game #that and having a server where i know that my friends will come see those things at some point #bcs they are in this shared space. and they'll be so happy things are Happening #and i have plenty of other projects like that that i would love to get to #a nice mill next to my wheat farm... plus the water that helps it move. which requires a lovely bit of terraforming #and then i also want to build a something around our portal to the pale garden #its such a great spot !!! the pale garden is big and sort of donut shaped and in the hole in the middle #there is an actual dark oak forest valley. which i might clear out a lil bit and make the portal be #in a pile of bones of something big and scary [using all the new white blocks!!!!!]#and then also have a bit of podzol underneath it to stand for the wilting leaves that then turn into the hummus that #helps the inner ring of trees prosper #even while the pale garden wilts around it #etc etc etc i have so much fun. im so happy i'd managed to find me a way to do these projects without feeling bad
