I love the Tsukino Empire play, and TAKA does such an amazing job playing Shun!!

This is with alcohol markers. I'm still learning how to work with these, but really like the vibrancy and coverage.

VALENTINE ANECDOTES

Hi guys, sorry for the delay but here are the valentine anecdotes for Tsukino Empire and Yumemigusa! On February 13th, there had a poll on the @/tsukista twitter account for which AU fans wanted a valentine anecdote from. Yumemigusa and Tsukino Empire had a 0.3% difference and so both stories were provided!

Personal thoughts: both stories were so cute and sad, and had a happy(ish) ending. Honestly, now I wonder what Zanshin's would have been like.

Don't Leave

Hajime blinked awake and stared at the ceiling for a long moment, trying to figure out what had woken him. He looked across the room, wondering if he had heard the connecting door close and Shun enter, but the space was empty. He closed his eyes again, and heard it clearly this time - a soft voice from Shun’s room. 

Hajime quickly got up and moved through the door. 

“Shun?” He called softly. The White Prince was curled in on himself, a small bundle of misery under the blankets. Hajime perched on the edge of the mattress and grasped the hunched shoulder. 

“Shun?” Shun’s face scrunched into a desperate expression, fresh tears following dried tracks. Hajime gave Shun’s shoulder a firm shake. “Shun!”

Green eyes flew open. “Hajime!” The gasp was half-hidden in Hajime’s midsection as Shun lunged forward and wrapped his arms around Hajime’s waist, forcing the startled Black Prince to catch him. 

Hajime was speechless. 

Shun hid his face for several long, shaking breaths before he pulled back to look up. “Ha- Hajime,” he began, obviously trying for his normal cheerful self, but his voice cracked and the smile was wobbling at the edges. Shun tried to say more, but then simply shook his head and buried his face back in Hajime’s shirt, tears welling. 

“Don’t leave,” he finally begged softly. Hajime tightened his hold. 

“Shun, what…” 

“Don’t leave me alone anymore.” Shun pushed closer. “Please?” 

Stunned, Hajime could only guess what Shun meant. “My trip?” A shiver was the only reply, and Hajime felt his heart clench. “I’m sorry, Shun,” he said softly, bending closer to the white head. “I didn’t think…” 

Shun shook his head again. “Hajime needed a break,” he argued weakly. Hajime shifted his grip so he was closer to cradling Shun than just holding him. 

“Still. I’m here now, alright? I’ll… try not to leave like that again.” 

Shun made a small sound of agreement, and began to relax. 

“I’m right here, Ototo.” 

Shun’s head popped up, and Hajime tried to hide how equally startled he was that the endearment had slipped out. Shun gave another valiant attempt at his usual enthusiastic response, but all that came was more tears. Hajime smiled gently as Shun almost shyly tucked his head back down. 

The immediate crisis seemed mostly resolved, and Hajime would like to go back to sleep, but he wasn’t willing to leave Shun alone just yet. He nudged at a shoulder. “Move over.” 

Shun squinted up, eyes swelling and red and tired. “Ah?” 

Hajime propped the other prince up and gestured at the other half of the bed. “Move over. I want to go back to sleep.” 

Shun smiled truly for the first time and quickly scooted over so Hajime could lie down. 

Hajime closed his eyes and fought his own smile as he felt Shun immediately shift closer. After a few scuffles, he simply held his arm out and felt a weight settle against his shoulder.

[Masterpost] SQ Drama CD: Beyond the Asteroid - ver. BLUE - Translations

Long time no SQ! I have been working on this in the background whenever I have some free time, and I’m so glad I can finally share them~!

SQS 2 is still one of my favorite SQ stage plays, and I am so glad that they adapted it into a drama CD~! Similar to what they did with Tsukiuta’s Yumemigusa, they added a bit more to the story to fill in the gaps that they couldn’t do on stage. This includes more dialogue from Muramasa, and a few other key details like their backgrounds and lore.

For this version, we’re focusing on QUELL’s side of the story! The RED and BLUE versions technically complete each other, but it’s also okay to watch/listen to them without listening to the other ^^

I am working on editing the original subtitles I posted, and I will post them once they are finished as well~! RED Ver. is in the works together with more from VAZZROCK~!  I guess I am back in a TsukiPro high~ (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

re: Aoi Shouta voicing Rui's brother -- it's because he played them both in the original drama CDs 10 years ago. Also, if you like Haru, check out the stage plays with Matsuda Gaku (plays 6-10). He's wonderful and Tsukino Empire has the best HajiHaru. Really all the ones with him and Menjo Kentaro (6-8), they had the best chemistry. Tsukino Empire 2 (which is SQS) is also a must see.

it is genuinely a joy to see how much love the fandom has for the stage plays! but again they are not for me unless the cast is literally the same as the cast of the anime

Tasaiteikoku, or the path to Shambhala.

Long ago lived two priestly clans considered the physical essences of the Lunar and Solar stars. Residing among the Heavens to better serve the Jade Emperor reigning over the Celestial Realm, the Ametsukuto clan, symbolised by a three-legged crow, represented the Sun Goddess who once scorched the world with her nine incarnations. Its twin phratry, the Ōtsutsuki clan, symbolised by a white rabbit, lived on the Moon where they represented its God and brewed all year round the famous Elixir of Life from the sap of the Divine Tree. Revered by both mortals and immortals alike, they were said to perform grand rituals in order to preserve the eternal Saṃsāra.

Over time, however, their power weaken drastically as humanity began to self-destruct through numerous wars and conflicts. Fearing to disappear, the two clans decided to mate into a single entity which gave rise to the appearance of a red eclipse in the sky, plunging the world into darkness while mankind fell into a hypnotic sleep that brought universal peace. Thus devoured by nature having finally regained its rights, they morphed into yin and yang monsters named Zetsu which drained away their original personalities and individuality. Mourning the loss of his people, the Emperor Lord Huangdi who ruled Tasaitenkoku and who had been spared due to his immortality, begged the Jade Emperor to intervene.

The latter, taking advantage of the birth of twin siblings possessing both the power of the sun and the moon after the union of the two clans, decreed that they should once again separate and be sent to the terrestrial kingdom where humanity would no longer dare to challenge their existence. Hagoromo, the older brother, therefore took over the leadership of what remained of the Ametsukuto and set up a shrine in the east while Kaguya, the younger sister, became the leader of the remaining Ōtsutsuki members and established her shrine in the west, thereby creating the cycle of day and night in the sky. As such, and so that the eight coloured provinces of the Empire which formerly were enemies continue to maintain their fragile alliance, the brother and the sister symbolically wedded at each eclipse to remind everyone of the previous terror that had been unleashed upon the coupling of the two clans. Soon, Kaguya and Hagoromo fathered their own descendants until the advent of two significant heir brothers within the Ōtsutsuki.

Not respecting each other more than they loved each other, Vitra and Indra quarrelled over the place of successor and constantly fought with the aim of determining which of the two was the most powerful. Growing tired of their petty disputes, Hagoromo Ametsukuto ended up imploring the Jade Emperor to let him return to the Heavens with his people. The latter granted him this favour on the condition that a small part of his clan abandon their immortality and remain on Earth. Generations later, this lineal united with a secondary branch of the Imperial family and took the name Tsukino, retaining control of the Sun Shrine but severing all contact with their twin phratry. Forced to re-establish good understanding to avoid the provinces sinking into chaos again, Kaguya thus banished the two brothers after condemning them to a mortal form and returned to the Lunar star with her kindred.

Alas, due to the influence of their powers, the endless confrontation of the siblings corrupted the mind of mankind who started to take sides for one or the other. Four of the eight coloured provinces thus supported one party and four others supported the second party. Rivals to the end of time, the brothers waged war against each other for so long that in the years following, Indra's lineage, the benevolent saviours who had helped people in between battles, received the name of Hyūga whilst Vitra's lineage, the greater evil who had solely destroyed in its bloodlust, was known as the Toneri.

In an ultimate battle that rendered him bedridden, Indra slew his older brother and with his death finally brought peace and prosperity to humanity. As a result, the Toneri, still refusing to acknowledge their defeat, were forced to retreat to a distant land, and the Hyūga, under the blessing of the Emperor Lord Huangdi, watched over the Moon Shrine again as its dignified representative. Aeons later, this legendary story became a source of teaching for Tasaitenkoku which decided to expand all its provinces equally and built capitals dedicated to helping those who had previously sinned find their way back to Enlightenment. The Brown Province erected the Capital of the Earth, the White Province that of the Wind, the Red the Capital of Fire, the Blue Province the Capital of Water; as for the Black Province it erected the Capital of Iron, the Violet that of Sound, the Yellow Province the Capital of Lightning, and finally the Green erected that of the Forest. Praised for their wisdom, each then received from the Celestial Realm a protector in the person of an immortal called Xian. Together, the eight Xian moved the Empire into a new dimension hidden by the snow-capped mountains of Tibet, before appointing it as Shambhala.

To this day, it is said that the two clans and their many bloodlines exist still, one forever outcasted, one studying the tantra towards the inner path they yet haven't found, and another worshipping religiously their star with the hope of returning there one day…

So, this thing kinda popped up in my mind yesterday morning and I spent the whole afternoon writing it. God knows I have a hundred other WIPs to take care of, but I'm also a slave to my inspiration soooo 😂. I'm a mythologies aficionado/scholar and this small fairy tale is a mix of different ones, mainly Asian: Chinese Cosmology, Indian Hinduism/Buddhism, Japanese Shintoism as well as some things that came straight out of my little head. Hope you enjoyed!

For those who would know less about the subject, here's a simple lexicon that will help you better understand certain terms:

• Tasaiteikoku (多彩帝国): means 'Multi-Coloured Empire'.

• Jade Emperor

• Ametsukuto Clan (天竹取一族): Ametsukuto roughly means "Celestial Bamboo Harvesters"

Ōtsutsuki Clan (大筒木一族): Ōtsutsuki roughly means 'Big Bamboo Tree'

• Three-legged Crow

• Sun Goddess & Moon God

• Phratry

• White Rabbit

• Elixir of Life

• Divine Tree [see 'Wu Gang and the magic tree' in the "Important deities, spirits, and mythological people" section]

• Saṃsāra (輪廻) [So for some reason, the link doesn't want to display, I suspect it's because of the accents. All left is for you to google yourself, really sorry!]

• Zetsu (蜹): means 'gnat', or 'mosquito'.

• Emperor Lord Huangdi

• Kaguya (かぐや): is derived from an obscure passage in the second volume of the Kojiki about the genealogies of Emperor Suinin, the eleventh emperor of Japan, which states that he had a consort named Kaguyahime no Mikoto (迦具夜比売命), the daughter of a king named Ōtsutsukitarine no Miko (大筒木垂根王); tradition holds that these individuals served as the basis for Princess Kaguya and the old bamboo cutter in The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter.

• Hagoromo (はごろも): literally means 'feather mantle' and is a reference to The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, in which Princess Kaguya is given a hagoromo to wear upon her return to the moon.

• Indra

• Tsukino (月野): is translated as 'A field under the moon'. Of course, it is ironic that the Sun clan is now owning a surname opposite to whom they represent.

• Hyūga (日向): is translated as 'A place in the sun'. Same goes for the Moon clan.

• Toneri (舎人): was a title held by low-ranking Japanese servants of royalty and nobility during the 7th century.

My first ever Whumptober submission!

Hajime had welcomed the expansion into theatre.

Everyone had been proud when the middle pairs had been cast in Yumemigusa - Hajime in particular as Arata had learned to work with his natural stoicism, and Shun had strutted like a peacock at the praise You and Yoru had received.

And then the world had shifted and there had been swords and fighting and blood and sickness and death and Mikaduki-san who wasn’t Mikaduki-san. 

Shun had managed to work his magic to save both You and Arata (and why did Hajime have overlapping memories of both) but the effects had been far-reaching.

Gravi and Procella had given up their tickets to stay with their actors backstage. Hajime had lost count of the times he had comforted a silently crying Aoi, or seen Shun holding a panicking Yoru, walked in on Kai talking to a pale, quiet You, or Haru gripping a deathly blank Arata. He had seen Shun’s guilt over treating the incident so lightly at the beginning, and Arata and You flinch every time they’d seen a hospital for months.

Both groups had slept in one common room or the other until the nightmares stopped.

Rabbit’s Kingdom had been… strange.  Hajime and Shun had decided to keep the existence of the book private until they saw how everyone reacted to the play, and the other members had been both surprised and relieved to learn why they were suddenly unwilling to let their leaders out of sight. 

Hajime had been unable to sleep for weeks, both after Shun’s reading of the novel and the performances, haunted by visions of black- and white-gloved hands wrapped around Shun’s throat, Shun’s peaceful expression as he waited - expected - to die (by Hajime’s hand, or by his own when that failed). Shun’s despair and loneliness given form and murdering everyone - no matter that that part had only been a vision.

The sound of Shun’s soft call as he and his other self lay dying.

All of it had seen him on nearly nightly walks around the dorms, and sleeping in his counterpart’s room more often than not.

(The filming of Tsukino Empire had gone smoothly enough, except for the scene in the centre of the world, where Shun was prepared for Hajime to kill him. Again. 

Shun had stuck close with an apologetic look and quiet reminders that it was his character, not him, and that this universe wasn’t one they had visited. 

Hajime still hadn’t slept.

“Please stop asking me to kill you.”)

Zanshin had been the final straw.

That isekai trip had been a series of firsts that Hajime would have been content never experiencing: the first time Shun had warned against a world, the first time one of them had been kidnapped, the first time someone had been tortured, the first time Hajime had been certain one of his friends would die.

The first time without Shun.

The first time Hajime had seen Shun scream like that at someone.

The rest of the experience had become normal at this point.

Shun refusing to let Hajime, Haru, and Kai out of his sight for weeks.

Sleeping together in the common area to deal with everyone’s nightmares.

Shun staggering, nearly hysterical, into their arms at the end of each performance as the “last boss” amid the concerned looks from Quell and SolidS.

Finally, after the seniors had shared the story of what happened in Zanshin, the groups came to a decision.

Six Gravity and Procellarum would be taking a break from the stage for the foreseeable future.
