Happy New Year Everyone💜
(Rambling below)
Tbh: This year has been one word for me. Awful. Too much happened and I’d rather not talk too much about it... x-x
My first half of the year was just dreadful. But the second half of it (around July/August) was a lot better. And I have RainCode to thank for that. After losing a close friend, I was in a pretty depressive funk for quite some time. And what I usually do in these times is escape into my current passions and interests and go wild on it.
And boy did I ever. I had just finished RainCode and was officially obsessed. And I wanted to contribute to it. So at first I made some sprite edits, and a Pokémon crossover. Then as I do for every fandom I have a fixation on, I decided to write my very first sickfic of it. And it received so well that felt a bit more secure in indulging in my hidden guilty pleasure some more.
I made more sprite edits involving Yuma and the more I indulged the more obsessive I became. Soon I was making analysis' on his character and making all sorts of whump headcanons for him. Then I realized I became like most sick whump users on tumblr, and I finally had a fandom and whumpee I could call my own... and the feeling I felt was indescribable. I was so happy. Blissful. (Though it did kinda rot my brain from the inside out. But in a good way? If it makes you happy it's healthy....right? XD)
After some time I interacted a little bit with more of the RC community and honestly?? Its such a fresh new and fun community. And there's a lot more adults in it. My last fixation (demon slayer) had too many minors in it so I felt like I didn't belong or have any right to be in the community at all. But with this one?? I feel right at home. I eventually became known here for making sick related content of the series, even dubbing myself the CEO of a tag I made up myself. Whumpcode.
RainCode even inspired me to start drawing again. Something I sadly gave up on for years. And Its helped me find a style for myself and draw things that make me happy c: (aka sick/fever whump lol)
I found a few very nice people to talk to. (mostly because I'm shy and don't talk too much w others online) And I'm surprised my work even inspired some of the community to make some sick art/fics of their own for raincode. It made me feel such indescribable pride. In a sense I am like the other whump users on tumbr, but at the same time I'm not. (mainly because its not a kink to me) I'm more a member of the raincode community than the whump community. And I'm perfectly fine with that.
I first joined tumblr back in 2014 and after some time, took a 5 year hiatus from it. But upon coming back, I'm so happy to have finally found a fandom I truly feel like I'm a part of. And thank you to everyone that supports and enjoys my work. It makes me so happy that there are those that agree with me and don't see me as a freak despite my odd fixation. But focusing on this has made the second half of my year better. So much better...
So thank you, both RainCode and RainCode tumblr. For making me feel like a part of something. And for making my year end on a positive note c:

important talk (sorta/sorta not idk)
would u guys be angry if i moved/payed more attention to different social media like twitter/deviantart/etc?
now, dont panic, im not doing anything like that yet, i wanna use this website for as long as i can cause ive met so many cool ppl here (<3), but this website is like slowly destroying itself, especially with the drama of the ceo who harassed a trans person and the ai stuff.
i dont wanna be on a website where im stressed 24/7 cause of different drama and stuff like that or where i see something political for most of the time cause alot of tumblr is politics whether u know it or not. (im not talking about palestine btw)
especially because i get really stressed talking about/looking at politics or drama and stuff like that, and i just want to draw object show stuff and see it without getting a panic attack.
if i DO move and quit tumblr (heavy emphasis on if i do), my discord is always in my intro post, so if u wanna talk to me IF i quit tumbr, go to my intro post, but for now im staying.

As a trans black person I'm not surprised but I'm still disgusted with what [the Tumblr CEO] is doing rn. I strongly dislike this man and what he [clearly] stands for.
Mind you queer (specifically trans) black people have been facing violence after violence from people who run this website for over a decade now and tbh I don't like how [the owner of tumbr] is straight up harassing someone because he got his little bitch feelings hurt.
Man up. Act like a fucking adult.
If I get terminated then so be it. That will just further prove my point.

the fact that tumbr ceo man is all mad about threats of violence like this website isn't literally built on a beautiful foundation of increasingly elaborate death threats

I joked earlier that Tumblr wasn't founded as some kind of communist alternative to Twitter, and we shouldn't expect it to behave that way, but looking into it, it seems that it was founded to be much closer to that than I'd expected. I'm going to drop a few excerpts from a 2011 interview with Tumblr founder David Karp by TechCrunch that illuminate what I mean.
Tumblr CEO David Karp recently sat down with Chris Dixon for a Founder Stories interview in which explains how he started Tumblr four years ago as a reaction to other blogging tools out there. “All blogs took the same form,” he notes. “I wanted something much more free-form, much less verbose.” People wanted to express themselves and blog, but he felt that the standard blogging platforms available at the time—Wordpress, Blogger, TypePad—were too complicated. “These tools I just don’t think worked for most people. It’s a commitment, you need to sit down for an hour and hammer out a post.”
He is quick to add that “WordPress is the best tool in the world for that” kind of publishing. But for someone like him who “doesn’t enjoy writing,” it was the wrong tool. So he created Tumblr instead, which is designed to help people get their thoughts and images up as quickly as possible, and to lower the barrier to publishing even more.
But don’t Twitter and Facebook lower those barriers even further? They do, but they lack a strong expressive identity, argues Karp. “They are not tools built for creative expression,” he says, adding: “Nobody is proud of their identity on Facebook.” Okay, he’s got a point there. Tumblr, in contrast, is built to be a place you can be proud to call your online home. It’s very design-oriented and you can customize your Tumblr to reflect your personality, but not in a cheesy MySpace way. For Twitter and Facebook, “expression isn’t necessarily something they care about.”
It’s a common criticism of popular Web services that don’t yet make a lot of money: Where’s the business model? That criticism has certainly been lobbed at Tumblr, the short-burst publishing platform all the kids are flocking to these days. Tumblr generates billions of pageviews across its networks and is growing at more than 250 million pageviews per week. “Making money off of Tumblr would be incredibly easy,” CEO David Karp tells Chris Dixon in the Founder Stories video above. A cheap AdSense ad on every member’s dashboard would make Tumblr “wildly profitable.”
So why doesn’t he do that? As he goes onto explain, he’d rather find ways to make money that also “enhance the experience for our users.” Tumblr does charge for things like being featured in its directory or $9 themes users can buy to spruce up their Tumblog. Karp notes that some theme designers are making tens of thousands of dollars month. Still, these seem more like ancillary revenue streams than what will end up being Tumbr’s main revenue source down the line. Fortunately for Karp, he has patient investors and just raised $30 million to keep scaling the service and figure out a more natural business model.
You can watch the full interview here. At about 4 minutes in, he starts talking about Tumblr in relation to Twitter. They talk about how things seem to be designed with the users and community in mind. At around 15 minutes in, they talk about how there's a tension between Karp's vision of Tumblr as a place for self-expression and advertisers and investors.
Here's another article that talks about the monetisation issue.
"I thought I could totally beat the system and have this cool product that I would never need to raise money for, I would never need to sell out, because [Tumblr] would bring all the attention to this [consultancy] business where people would ask us to build them a website," he says. And it worked – for a few months. Karp kept up his consultancy gig until Tumblr began doubling its number of users every few weeks. "Our clients eventually got more and more pissed off because I wasn't returning their calls and at that point I was just totally fucking it up. Clearly they could see Tumblr was my one and only and they were getting shafted."
It was time for Karp and Tumblr to grow up. Investors were circling, but Karp's youthful defiance prevented the internet firm being shipped across to the startup factory of Silicon Valley. Karp did sell 25% of his one-year-old company as part of a $4.5m funding round from Union Square Ventures and Spark Capital in late 2008. But he repeatedly turned down offers to move the company to the "hyper-competitive" West Coast, where he says entrepreneurs spend their time worrying whether Apple, Google or Facebook are going to steal their most talented engineers. New York is a more supportive city for startups, Karp argues, even if it does not have the obvious allure of Silicon Valley.
In conversation, Karp could evangelise on the force of creativity for hours. At times he will suddenly pause, before retracing his steps and continuing with animated zeal. Karp says he loves Twitter, is lukewarm on Google+ ("I don't see any tools for creativity in there") and is not the biggest fan of Facebook "as a product". And YouTube? "The only real tools for expression these days are YouTube, which turns my stomach," he says. "They take your creative works – your film that you poured hours and hours of energy into – and they put ads on top of it. They make it as gross an experience to watch your film as possible. I'm sure it will contribute to Google's bottom line; I'm not sure it will inspire any creators."
No doubt Google would disagree, arguing that a significant chunk of the 60 hours of video uploaded to the site each minute – an increase of 30% in the last three months – contains or inspires some form of originality.
But Karp is unconvinced. YouTube, he says, "was the opportunity to tell every aspiring filmmaker that if they worked really hard and really went for quality they could create great stuff. The stuff YouTube is incentivising is: build a huge subscriber base, put out a lot of videos, do the math and get as big a cheque as possible."
Google recently did the math and found that YouTube pulls in about 4bn views a day – and has now boosted promotion of its "Partner" programme in a bid to increase the quality of videos. "YouTube offers the opportunity but they sacrifice the tools in such a major way now," Karp continues. "YouTube is one of the most amazing creative tools in the world and I think it's gotten a lot worse for creators." No doubt the point is that Tumblr can close the gap.
Like many of the hottest internet firms, Tumblr has no proven business model. The company's "lack of revenue" prevented some major Silicon Valley venture capital firms from participating in its latest $85m funding round in September last year, according to the Wall Street Journal. John Maloney, the president of Tumblr, who is the business foil to Karp's user-led brain, indicated in a recent interview that the company needs to attract "hundreds of millions" more subscribers on its route to profitability.
For his part, Karp describes technology journalism's obsession with funding as "turpitudal" and insists his company is not in a financial arms race with Facebook, Twitter or other internet sites.
Nor is Tumblr about to be acquired by a multinational media firm, he says. In 2008, when Karp became $750,000 richer by virtue of selling a 25% stake in the firm, the fresh-faced founder laid his intentions bare. "We would really rather not be gobbled up by a big media company," he spat, in an interview with the New York Observer.
Unlike most other hot internet companies, Tumblr has not been plagued by buyout rumours – but that does not mean there have been no offers. Four years on, is Karp still adamant? "We were constantly tested along the way," he admits. "Particularly in the first three years, there were a lot of [mergers and acquisitions] people who would pull you aside and you'd think 'Well, shit, I could be a pretty rich 23-year-old with very little effort'". But he held firm. "We stuck it out. I won't say I really knew why."
All these articles are old, they're relics of the past. But it's an interesting angle.
It's interesting. Karp seems to be a genuinely decent person- he works at Planned Parenthood now, and when he was still CEO of Tumblr, he tried to use it to promote Planned Parenthood.
I'd like to see Tumblr go back to its roots. I'd like to see it stop trying to be Tiktok or Instagram. I'd like it to be fully functional, with all the gimmicky quirks staff keeps introducing but none of the weird algorithms and promotion of Tumblr Live. I'd like it to invite NSFW back onto the platform in a way safe for artists.

wgat the fuck happened here
i left tumbr alone for a week and apparently the CEO got the bright idea to be a power abusing transphobes on the trans supporting sight ?
CEO ceoing over here.
I'm just really proud that this community was on top of it. This debate would've looked very different anywhere else.
Let's hope this gets rectified shortly.

Mimpi, Peluang, Investasi (Start-Up)
Tumblr media
Next...
Banyak hal-hal baru yg dikenal, istilah bisnis, teknologi AI, investor, saham, IT, kreativitas tinggi, programmer, mimpi, hidup, dan segala macamnya lah.
1. Follow Your Dream
Bagaimana jadinya Do San yang terlalu diatur ortunya mengenai mimpi-mimpinya.
Begitupun Ayah padaku. Maka janganlah jadi kebanggan satu sama lain.
Wah sedep sih ini. Karna kalau hidup mengikuti standar orang lain, capeknya luar biasa, kecewanya pun lebih-lebih. Udahlah, follow your dream!
8. Mengalah
Kalau cinta-cintanya mah nggak usah dibahas lah ya. Udah tau ujungnya hha. Okesip.
Sehingga nantinya melahirkan perusahaan rintisan. Ibaratnya makcomblang startup dan investor. Salut juga dengan sikap CEO SandBox (Bu Yoon) yang selalu menghargai sekecil apapun perbuatan/usaha orang lain, patut diacungi jempol nih. Mulai dari Ayah Dal Mi sampai Ayah Do San, diberikan kesempatan olehnya untuk bicara. Top dah!
Sekian aja deh. Udah kebanyakan. Haha. Sisanya tonton sendiri. Jadi nonton itu jangan pake hati, saling sikut kamu #team mana. Hahaha.

Favorite course? I have a feeling it’s going to be Drawing, but who knows?
What languages do you know? Want to learn? I am only fluent in English atm, but I used to be fluent in Lao. Languages I’d like to learn?: (especially) Korean & Japanese, Latin, French, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Thai, refresh on Lao, and Hmong (due to being half Hmong.)
What language do you study in? Do you think in a different language? Study in English, and I think in English... with a whole bunch of different language onomatopoeia (thanks Korean Dramas.)
Career aspiration? SO MUCH ASPIRATIONS, but I mostly want to be an artist, writer, and entrepreneur or possibly a CEO.
If you couldn’t be #8, what would you be? Psychologist, Art Professor, or Wedding Planner.
Moment you knew what you wanted to do? I slowly understood what I wanted to do from little snippets of ambition. I finally understood the whole picture about a year or two ago.
STUDY ENVIRONMENT
Where is your favorite place to study? Quiet places that allow my study music and with LOTS of desk space (coffee shops, library, closed rooms, etc.)
When is your favorite time to study? I don’t have a favorite time lol, but late mornings/late nights to early mornings. I like it to be dark outside basically.
Clean desk or organized mess? Depends on the mood, but clean messy...if that makes sense? The exact stuff I’m studying with would be messy while everything else is organized.
Music or no music? What type? Music for sure. Softly played piano covers (k-pop piano covers, anime piano covers, etc. I also enjoy easy listening music like Crywolf. *PRO BACKGROUND MUSIC TIP: USE AMBIENT-MIXER.COM FOR THESE COOL BACKGROUND SOUNDS LIKE HOGWART’S LIBRARY. YO.
Name top 3 worst distractions. Social media, Korean drama, youtube... other life planning (making lists, pinterest, etc.)
Exam time, dress up or dress down? In sweats. I’m always in sweats.
Exam time, hair up or hair down? Depends on the mood... but most likely high up pony-tail. My favorite hairstyle.
Favorite outfit for studying? Same-old sweats. Maybe in pj shorts this time if it’s hot. But tbh, even if it’s cold... I’d wear shorts and jus use a blanket.
Favorite study scent? After rain morning.
STUDY TOOLS
Name 5 things you would consider your ‘study essentials’. 0.3 mm or smaller mechanical pencil, small black MUJI eraser, 0.5 mm or smaller black gel pen, small ruler (6ish inch,) graph paper, hobonichi techo planner (random notes are in there,) laptop/phone (online notes & pinterest for study layout inspo,) books, and music.
Hardcopy books or pdf online? Both are okay with me, but the physical book is a tad bit easier.
Favorite study snack? drink? Goji berries or blueberries... maybe grapes. Slightly chilled water or coconut water.
Favorite pen (or pencil)? Pilot for my pen. I lost my pencil, so I’m not sure about that one at this moment. I’ll edit it in later.
Favorite notebook/paper? I love, love, love graph paper (specifically the SMALL squares like within the hobonichi techo.) I also love the Cambridge notebook papers, but they’re on the expensive side. As for blank pages? Textured sketchbooks like the Canson Mixed Media Pads.
Name 5 apps/tools that help you be productive. Evernote, but recently an addition of the Bear app (transitioning note-taking app,) Tick Tick, TORA reminder app, myHomework Student Planner, and still discovering!
How many pens/pencils/markers are in your pencil case? I haven’t been pen/pencil/marker shopping yet... so 2 black gel pens, 1 0.3 mm mechanical pencil, and the rest are MUJI erasers and a ruler.
Backpack or purse? Backpack, and SOMETIMES a shoulder laptop bag.
How many notebooks do you have? ROFL. A LOT. I’m a journal/notebook/sketchbook-hoarder-in-responsible-journal/notebook/sketchbook-purchasing-training member. My favorite “note” journal/notebooks are my hobonichi techo, moleskine journals, my large Cambridge lined notebook, and graphing notepad. Since I’m trying to avoid buying journals/notebooks/sketchbooks, I’ve been using Evernote & Bear like crazy.
STUDY HABITS
How do you motivate yourself when you’re not motivated? Take a break, stroll through the amazing study note-taking on pinterest/tumbr/instagram, think about my future and the ambitions I have, &/or listen inspirational speeches.
Pump up routine before writing an exam? Bag needs to be packed, have to have showered, dressed nicely, hair done and minimal make up applied - and listen to either EDM or coldplay on my way there. Finish a crying session with Korean Dramas, reading serious-businss tumblr threads, get dressed in sweats, put on my eyebrows, contemplate on eyeshadow or eyeliner, coconut oil & bite lip agave lip mask lip time, tie my hair up, pack my bag, sit down and scroll through phone one last time for a while AND ALSO EAT SOME FOOD, head there, and pray I’ll stay awake.
Crammer or pacer? Both, but mostly crammar. I for some reason have a part time studying/remembering long-term knowledge under pressure. Short-term memory is stronger for pressure/stress.
Type of learner (kinesthetic, auditory, visual)? Visual and a little bit of kinesthetic.
How do you plan? (digital, planner, lists, no plan, etc.) myHomework planner, Tick Tick if needed, planner, more lists (the more I write it down, the more I remember to do it/makes it a higher priority in my mind.)
Preferred note-taking method? Typed/digitally AND hand-written/drawn. I have to do both.
Do you make to-do lists? How? Hell yes, I do. I make lists EVERYWHERE. I LOOOOVE making lists.
Do you stick to your to-do lists? Depends on the list. But majority of the time. It has to be high-priority/a list I create on every item I can think of.
Group study or independent study? Independent.
Average number of hours of sleep during exam time? I can’t do less than 6 hours, or I’ll pass out during the day/exam.
Ever pulled an all-nighter? Not for school related things... SO FAR.
STUDY MENTALITY
What do you do to recover from getting a grade lower than expected? I feel down about it, but I know I end up having a decent to great grade at the end of the road. That’s all that matter to me... trying my best.
One advice you’d give others? There is more than one way to get to where you want to go. Put your heart into your work. The more genuinely interested you feel, the easier and BETTER you learn and remember anything. Find interest. Find purpose.
What are you most proud of right now? Surviving schoolwork with lack of motivation from depression.
Favorite quote to keep you going? Oh my, too much... just too much quotes. LOTS.
Favorite way to de-stress? Sleep.
OTHER
Favorite 5 studyblrs? I’m new, so I haven’t seen a lot yet!
How often do you check Tumblr? At least once a day.
Hobbies when you’re not studying? Art, pinteresting, taking notes/making lists, thinking about the future, etc.
Favorite compulsory-reading book? I’m not sure lol.
First nerdy joke that pops into your head. My favorite one.

Creative Coma
I’ve always thought that one of the most terrifying propositions in the world would be lying in a hospital bed in a coma. The dark delirium and yet profound awareness of your unconscious state. You can sense your surroundings - the warmth of the light streaming in the window, the resonant voices around you, the beeping and blipping of the medical technology monitoring your bio-rhythms but paralyzed to communicate yours ideas, your fears, your dreams, your love to anyone. Physically immobile. Silenced by unforeseen circumstance. Alone with your thoughts in a boundless, colorless void.
I’ve been in a “creative” coma for an embarrassingly long time. How’s that for vulnerability in my first blog post?
My current clients need not worry.  Every day I design and dispense creative thoughts in my work life as a Creative Director, Brand Story Strategist and Wordsmith. I love my job. I’m good at it. Known for it. Not looking to stop anytime soon. Somehow I always have access to that channel in my brain. But when it comes to processing my deeper thoughts. The unfinished and inperfect notions in my mental moleskine, I am paralyzed. To be clear, those are likely my best thoughts, so I am hopeful I can eventually quarry them out.
Believe it or not, like many of you, my “daydreams” are about something else entirely. A recurring epiphany about what I might do next.  How I might reappropriate my creativity, my words, my life, and my abstractions in ways that change peoples lives. I’ve done it by accident. Now I’d like to do it on purpose. But here I lay in my self-induced “coma.”  Paralyzed in my latent potential by fear, I suppose. And yet they say there is tremendous freedom on the other side of fear. That is what I am banking on.
I’ve been a blogger for 20 minutes. I’ve been a writer for over 20 years. Longer than that if you are my mother who saves my most neolithic writings. But this is the first blog I’ve ever written. I think that the fear is/was that the “crowd at large” will ultimately decide if my ideas are valid or worthy. Ideas that have been internalized (for decades) and perfected in the vacuum of my own mind. Meaning, they are untested, and so they are fragile and vulnerable. I feel like my head is usually somewhere between the unfinished musings of Da Vinci’s sketch book, and a local sports bar with 200 TV’s. That’s a lot for a recovering perfectionist to get right before I release it into the blogosphere.
Since I am realizing perfection is an illusion and excellence is achievable, I am venturing out there today. Right now. Thanks Tumblr.
My future posts will be about Story, Branding, Creativity, Language, Literature, Metaphor, Business and Beauty. I hope you’ll find something memorable and poignant. I hope I can help you ask what I call  “heat-seeking” questions - the kind that persist until they find there target and do their job.
My ambitions for my creative role in the world go far beyond my company, Brandpoet. We help businesses, colleges, churches, CEO’s and Authors shape their brand identities and tell compelling stories.
At Brandpoet we use a process we call “Storientation” which helps people (sometimes for the first time) have narrative awareness. Narrative awareness is the ability to see
the Context
the Characters, ( and the Chemistry )
the Conflicts,
the Contrasts,
the Choices
the Consequences,
that lead to ultimate Clarity.
Story ultimately offers us clarity for the path ahead. I want to coach clarity into people’s lives. To give people the eyes to see themselves (maybe for the first time)  To equip people with the tools, principles, and idea scaffolding to frame up and make wise decisions for their future. Specifically, I am interested in the Millennial generation. I want them to have the confidence of who they are and to know their “why” before making shackling decisions like taking on debt for a degree that isn’t even something they want to do.
My core values have always been identity (knowing who you are), story (knowing where you are going and what you are supposed to do), generosity (sacrificing what you’ve got for others who need it), and legacy (insuring you leave something significant behind for others to find). I bleed these. And yet for too many people, these are elusive truths.  I can help you. Because I can tell you what to do and what not to do.
I’ve had it backwards— Likely what caused my coma. I’ve been pursuing the first two values (Identity and Story) in my business life and then offering the fruit of that effort to my family in the form of generosity and legacy. But the older I get the more I am convinced that I should spend more time helping family and others with knowing their Identity and their Story and letting generosity and legacy happen naturally. There is no greater gift or legacy than helping someone know who they are and what they are supposed to do.
So this post is very self indulgent, in a way. It is me getting comfortable writing, not for clients, but for myself. It’s about getting use to my public voice and being ok with it being a work in progress.
It’s basically a shot of adrenaline to wake me up and channel my thoughts in a new public (and albeit, uncomfortable) direction.
For those of you who tune in. It will definitely get more topical. I’d love for you to follow.  Thanks for welcoming the newbie. And staying with me through the length of this first post. Brevity is virtually an unknown to storytellers.
KST
ps. Thanks again Tumbr for making it easy to just jump in quickly before I had time to talk myself out of it again.
Note: To my friends and family who have been badgering me to write, I am sorry I have moved at such a glacial pace. I love you for continuing to push.
