OPEN EVENT

Welcome to my month-long TWST Mermay event! I invite all artists to participate, you do not have to follow me or reblog this post (though it would be appreciated).

Duration: The event will run from May 1 to May 31. Please ask if you need an extension!

How to Participate:

🌊~Create an original merfolk illustration for a TWST OC or canon character (please read the rules regarding Jade, Floyd, and Azul). You may also draw my Yuu's merform if you'd like!

🌊~Use the hashtag #twistedtech_mermay23

🌊~Tag me (@twisted-tech) in your post so I don’t miss your amazing designs!

🌊~Include the background and/or the event logo in your drawing.

Prizes: Two winners will be randomly selected and receive art of their design from me! Both will get one fullbody-flat drawing. The winners will be announced on June 1st.

Rules:

1. Your drawing must be your own original work.

2. Your drawing must include a merperson.

3. Your drawing must be appropriate for all ages.

4. You can submit as many entries as you like, but each entry must be different. A single post counts as one entry regardless of the number of characters it includes, so create separate posts if you want to do multiple entries.

5. Because Octavinelle already have canon merfolk designs, if you draw them you must create your own, original designs to be eligible for this event. The official designs are great, but I want to promote creativity and originality with this challenge. If only one or two things are different, they still won't be eligible, so don't be afraid to think outside the box, maybe even reimagine them as different species!

6. Your drawing must be related to Twisted Wonderland.

M...Merman Obi? For Mermay????? Thoughts????

Thoughts? I have many thoughts. I had so many thoughts that I made a whole ass page of drawings for Obi's merform. I really liked one of my sketches so I colored it and made it more of an illustration. Obi is based off of those sea dragon things that kind of look like seahorses. (Fun fact: Obi is terrified of horses, so I thougt it would be too mean to make him a seahorse).

This is also doubling as my submission to @twisted-tech's Mer May event. Which btw, is looking so cool. I'm not sure if it is ok to count this as I did draw Floyd and Azul's canon designs. So just let me know and I can unsubmit it if that counts as breaking the rules.

Based on how betta fish typically like to be surrounded by plants, and are quite temperamental at time <3

My entry and contribution to @twisted-tech mermay event that they are holding. I don’t have ocs so I decided to draw my favorite himbo, Deuce as mackerel (king mackerel to be more precise) because that’s his nickname that Floyd gives him. I imagine having hard time adjusting to his new tail and took a while for him to get a hang of swimming with fins and whatnot. Ace probably mad fun of from the sidelines.

Alice aka Experiment #630 is a psychic and a shapeshifter. Over time she learns to control and manipulate her original form to a mermaid form. Alice has thasslophobia, like Stitch/Experiment 626. Fear of deep water/fear of drowning. She isn't fully cured, but as long she stays as a mermaid and can breathe underwater, she is okay.

EVENT WRAP UP

🌊~ I received a total of 81 breathtaking entries! The response truly astounded me, with 43 submissions from Tumblr and 38 from Instagram. Thank you all for pouring your hearts into these marvelous mermaid artworks.

🌊~ Now, it’s time to select the winners. I will do a random draw to pick 2 winners who will each get 1 fullbody-flat color drawing of their submitted design. One winner will be from the Tumblr pool, and while another lucky winner will be selected from the Instagram submissions.

🌊~ I am incredibly grateful for the unexpected response I received for this event. It was my first event and I was expecting no more than ten submissions, so I am seriously overjoyed by how many artists added to this. Due to its immense success, I’m happy to announce that I will host the TWST Mermay Event again next year!
