TWST Silver x m!reader

A/N: rushed but i need some self indulgence fic bc tests hard, me braindead, need sleepy boy.

< Set in the Ghost Marriage event, though some of the storyline has been changed. Pre-established relationship >

Silver is a strange person. He’s a human raised by a fae, trained to be a knight for a lord who’s much older than him yet they go to the same school, and has to keep himself from sleeping most of the time. Even with his looks, it’s a surprise that he managed to get himself a partner. 

He isn’t in the same dorm as Silver, but they met after the knight accidentally slept on his shoulders at class. The first time it happened, (y/n) is concerned if he’s okay or not. Though after sitting next to eachother for other classes, he ended up getting used to the weight on his shoulder.

A bond formed when they end up talking to one another often, whether it’ll be for their interests or school-related. It felt natural that their friendship would bloom into something more. And bloom it did. 

Silver values his boyfriend close to how he value Lord Malleus and his family. His partner doesn’t mind if he ends up sleeping mid-conversation, he lets Silver sleep on his lap most of the time. Silver felt like the luckiest man in the world to be able to call (y/n) his boyfriend. 

Which is why he’s not pleased with this particular situation...

(y/n) didn’t agree on becoming a suitor for Eliza, though came along anyway as he’s curious what’ll happen. When all of her suitors have been slapped in rejection, Eliza suddenly pointed at him.

“You...!” 

He thought she was pointing at someone else nearby. Though when he pointed at himself in question, Eliza nodded, “...me?” 

Hearts seems to have formed in her eyes as she instantly bolted right to (y/n), wrapping her arm around him. “...are more perfect for me to wed!”

Everyone burst into a loud “Hah?!”

Eliza swiped a tear from her eye, the question of ghosts having tears in the first place becoming a question of its own. “A charming smile, a handsome face, lips that makes me want to kiss you. Yes, I’ll be your bride....!”

(y/n) stuttered for a moment, not being able to comprehend what’s happening. “w-wait, I’m not your suitor. I already have a--”

Eliza shushed (y/n) with her finger, “don’t worry, hubby. I’ll save you from your loveless marriage!” She seems to emphasized the word ‘loveless’.

Feeling offended, (y/n) defended his perfectly healthy relationship with the sleepy boy. “It’s not loveless! I’m sorry, but I don't want to marry--” he’s once again cut off by Eliza’s enthusiasm.

“Come now! Let’s start preparing our wedding!” she exclaimed in pure excitement, dragging (y/n) along with her. (y/n)’s body couldn’t move, he wanted to protest, and maybe run away to Diasomnia to look for his partner. 

“Tell Silver I didn’t have a right in this, I swear I still love him...!” the doors shut behind Eliza and her ‘fiancé’, leaving the NRC students in silence.

“So...” Yuu started, “who’s going to tell Silver?”

Everyone turned their head towards the prefect, who sighed tiredly. Sadly the prefect is used to doing the chores around this school...

That's the story on why Silver is currently standing besides Lord Malleus with an unreadable expression. Since Lilia and Sebek were slapped and taken to Eliza's marriage, he's the last person to guard Malleus; meaning he couldn't save (y/n) from the forced marriage.

Even with Silver's calm nature, he felt bitter at the word 'marriage'. He knows that (y/n) wouldn't leave him for the Ghost Bride, but his boyfriend being in constant danger as marrying Eliza means death? He doesn't like it at all, Silver not being able to do anything either makes him more uneasy.

It's been awhile since Yuu and Crowley announced (y/n)'s unconsented engagement. Though every minute passing feels like a year.

Even Malleus took notice how his guard is different than usual, "don't be so stubborn. I don't need protection, go and save your lover."

"(y/n) is strong enough to handle it without me," ah yes, 'coping' as Lilia calls it; a term used a lot these days. He wants to go to Eliza and take (y/n) back into his arms, but fate says otherwise since it would mean leaving Lord Malleus without a guard.

He just needed to believe in (y/n); he's strong, he’s capable. As incapable Crowley might seem, he should've been able to make a plan to save him.

The door to Diasomnia opened, revealing (y/n) sweating and panting heavily. He's wearing a black tuxedo, hair styled as if a professional had done it. Unfortunately the fancy attire is messy, so is his hair.

"You... you won't believe the bullshit I just went through," he panted.

Though the loud voice of a certain guard can be heard shortly after. "Human...! How dare you say such foul words in front of the Young Lord!" Sebek scolded (y/n), it's almost magical how he doesn't feel tired from running. 

Silver sighed in relief. The confirmation that his dearest is safe bringing him comfort. Though he did have to see and hear Sebek scolding his boyfriend for the 26th time.

“...then she ends up marrying one of her subordinates,” (y/n) recounted everything that happened today. Silver sleeping comfortably on his lap, eyes already closed even if he’s not done with the story.

(y/n) couldn’t help but smile as Silver slept comfortably. As calm as Silver is, he couldn’t help but wonder if he panicked when (y/n) was taken by Eliza. The boy’s hand found itself in Silver’s white locks; combing through the soft hair. 

After Sebek’s scolding about ‘foul languages’, (y/n) and his partner find themselves in Silver’s room; resting after the events that just ended. 

It surprised him when Silver suddenly caught his hand, though the guard doesn’t seem awake yet since all he did is lean against (y/n) closer whilst holding his arm close. 

(y/n) felt like his heart is about to explode, even the simplest actions from Silver could make the poor boy so flustered.

Hello, there, Raven! How are you doing? I hope you’re doing well. So I’ve read your post about the pros and cons of TWST being an otome game, and I have to say, that was a very good analysis.

I’ve been giving your analysis some thought, and I was pretty disheartened when I saw how you say TWST shouldn’t focus on romance and that it was almost impossible to do so. Well, I happen to have a few ideas on how thinks would work if TWST were an otome game.

Now, for my idea of an TWST otome game, it would be completely unlike the usual otome game. I still believe that “true love can conquer all”. In fact, I believe that love is the one of most powerful things in the world. My fortune even said: “A loved one is of the utmost importance at this time.”

In my POV of realistic love, the boys would face their problems themselves. While their s/o can’t solve their problems for them, the knowledge that their s/o is cheering them on behind them, giving them the courage to face and solve their problems head on is what I consider “love” to be.

No matter how helpless you are, no matter how little strength you have, as long as you have love, you can still keep moving forward, if only at a crawl.

In another line, you mentioned, “If TWST were an otome, Overblot battles would be resolved with the power of the protagonist hugging the boy and confessing their love, or the OB boy snapping back to their senses when he realizes he had hurt his S/O.” You’re right about this, it doesn’t work that way. Here’s how it works.

The protagonist would tell the OB boy what he did wrong and empathize with him, hugging him and giving him words of advice and encouragement. After that, they befriend the OB boy.

In order to develop a relationship, you have to build up bonds of friendship first. Eventually, over time, those bonds of friendship you have with the boys will develop into love.

Love takes time, understanding, patience and trust. It doesn’t happen instantly. The more time you spend together with people, the stronger the bonds get.

That’s what TWST should be about, not just about romance, but also developing good relationships, learning from your mistakes and improving yourself, working together to overcome obstacles and being your true self.

I don't mean to offend you in any way, this is just my honest opinion. What do you think?

***Please note: throughout this post, I will mostly be using the term “dating sim” in place of “otome” so as to be more gender inclusive to my readers. This will also carry over to all future posts on the subject.***

Hi, I’m glad that you enjoyed it 😅 but I just want to clarify something: I never said in the original post that “TWST shouldn’t focus on romance”. TWST is already a game that doesn’t focus on romance (with the only overtly “romantic” content we’ve gotten being Ghost Marriage, which is mostly a parody). However, I also very clearly stated that there is nothing wrong with wanting a TWST dating sim or enjoying romantic TWST content. I just wanted to share my honest and critical analysis of the otome genre in general, because I think it’s an interesting topic of discussion. There is a difference between explaining why I’m doubtful that a concept would work (while not completely shutting down the idea) and saying, “this should not be real” (which, again, I did not say).

What I did say is that I don’t think that what TWST is right now would work well with the traditional structure and tropes of a dating sim. They are very different kinds of games with very different end goals in mind. That’s why I ended the original post by saying TWST would need to be considerably and carefully rewritten and restructured to make it better suit a new genre. A great deal of the reason why people love TWST is because of its fleshed-out characters and its interesting story, and both of these elements could be watered down in a genre shift because what TWST is and what dating sims strive to do misalign so much. 

I understand that you may personally believe in “true love conquers all” (and I’m happy that you’re able to find comfort in that), but I must point out that that belief isn’t really something that TWST itself adheres to. The way the main boys act especially doesn’t go along with that way of thinking. They barely believe or trust in the concepts of basic friendship and goodwill (they express disgust and annoyance at the Seven Dwarves’ altruism and determination to work together, and they’re quick to deny accusations of being close to their peers), let alone true love. In Ghost Marriage, many of the boys show they are shocked and confused at Eliza’s (the Ghost Bride) passionate pursuit of her “ideal prince”. Ace straight up tells Eliza that the “ideal prince” doesn’t exist, and it is those lines proclaiming that one needs to be more realistic about their expectations that end up saving the day. Idia (in his Groom-for-a-Day card) has many home screen lines in which he outright mocks the idea of “true love” and “happily ever afters”. When Eliza realizes she is in love with one of her ghost guards and claims that her “love” healed his wounds, the boys feel awkward and say that they don’t understand this turn of events. It is Crowley that has to end the event off with the classic line of “and they lived happily ever after”.

Ghost Marriage is TWST poking fun of the tropes of romantic media, and it is able to do so effectively because of its fairy tale romance roots in Disney but with the cynical bite of the NRC cast. Because of this, it can be tonally jarring to try and stuff TWST into the mold of a dating sim, the latter of which often does more readily conform to the idea that “love will conquer all”. The kind of characters that TWST has generally aren’t very receptive that same concept, and that creates a conflict between the core of TWST and the demands of the dating sim genre.

A large part of change is first acknowledging your issues and being willing to accept attempts to correct it. In this case, “true love” is being recommended as the “fix”, and, again, I don’t think most of the TWST boys would be very accepting of that (and some would likely be unwilling to change altogether, such as Floyd, who despises being told what to do or having his freedom restrained). Part of the point of TWST is that the boys are appealing because they aren’t great people. They are imperfect and morally grey. A dating sim would most likely try and “fix” those imperfections or frame them as “bad” until the protagonist comes along and makes it all better. This can create another tonal issue, in which the genre calls for patching up the boys whereas the characters don’t always desire that.

Of course the boys need to face their own problems themselves, but consider that not all the boys will even believe they have problems to begin with, or that not all the boys necessarily want to address their “problems” (as they may already relish in what they’re currently doing). I also think that it is a great fallacy to think that having a “S/O behind them cheering them on” is a blanket resource that the boys all need and want. Each person is unique and reacts to trauma in a very different way, so you cannot generalize that they should be treated and supported the same way. Yes, having a support system can be helpful, but it doesn’t guarantee that the one receiving that support will like it or want it. Some may perceive that unwavering support as pity. Some might feel guilty or like they’re being a burden. Some may think of that support as being too smothering or as a sign that their S/O lacks faith in them. Some might lash out. When the support isn’t being accepted as intended, it can hurt the one providing it too, and it isn’t realistic to expect the S/O to just suck it up and keep supporting their partner anyway (as that can be mentally damaging too). I personally know of long-term relationships in which the person providing support got upset at the recipient because they weren’t being “receptive enough” to the support being provided. No one is that patient, kind, or understanding to put aside all of their own frustrations and obligations just to make space for their partner’s. In the first place, it isn’t their responsibility to be their partner’s secondary therapist (each person needs to put their OWN mental wellbeing first, no matter how much they love and care for another person). Knowing when it is appropriate to step back and take a breather is, in my opinion, much more important than cheerleading them at all times. The latter just wears on both parties 💦

It’s not just the “S/O fixes all their love interest’s problems” that is the issue with dating sims, it’s also the weird expectation that the “S/O’s support can be the emotional crutch that helps the love interest better themselves”. It doesn’t take into account individual differences and reactions and just accepts that the presence of love itself is all that is needed, and that unconditional love somehow has no detriments. It also imposes this naive expectation for a S/O to always be there for their partner and to put their partner’s health over their own health. That’s not only unrealistic, but it also unhealthy.

What I want to ask is this: if love can keep you moving forward no matter how helpless you are or how little strength you have (as you say it does), what is it about romantic love specifically that makes it “better” than platonic love? I’m pretty certain that friends and family can also provide support to someone who is struggling (just as much as they can be hurt by it), so I’m genuinely not sure why it is always romantic love that is pushed as the thing that will help, rather than platonic love, something that TWST already champions (because wouldn’t you naturally usually spend more time with friends and family than with your partner unless you literally live with them???). I’m only speaking in general terms here, not just in the context of a dating sim (since I believe you are also speaking in general terms for that segment of the ask)!

I’m sorry, but I fail to see what is different about your take on how OBs would be resolved in a dating sim format 💦 The problem that I have is that OB battles are painted as very real life or death situations in TWST; the OB boy is endangering not only the people in their immediate surroundings, but also themselves if they remain in that state for too long. OBs also wield terribly powerful magic and are typically driven by blind negative emotions. It’s a dangerous manifestation of years and years’ worth of trauma. To say that showing them empathy while also telling them what they did was wrong and offering advice/encouragement will snap them out of it (whether this is during or after the OB) is naive. Is that not what their friends (ie Heartslabyul for Riddle, Rook, Epel, Kalim, and even Yuu for Vil, etc.) are already doing for them (and to varying degrees of effectiveness)? Like I already mentioned before, not everyone will react to this positively or in the way that you want them to, because everyone is unique and copes with trauma differently. For example, Riddle might have opened up a little more to Heartslabyul and relaxed his stance on the rules post-OB, but Jamil flat-out refuses Kalim’s kindness and offer of friendship. Some boys are trapped in situations where support can’t help that much. Some are uncooperative and refuse to let others in. For other boys, maybe support can help, but it would probably call for a large time skip, since change is slow and gradual (but a time skip would still have the con of glossing over a considerable amount of on-screen development). It would be a gross oversimplification to say that there is a “one size fits all” treatment for what the boys are going through.

I personally don’t like the idea of befriending the boys and then romancing them. While it’s true that this happens in real life, it’s also true that not all relationships happen this way. I think there needs to be more variety in how the relationships form in a dating sim, not just to mimic reality, but to avoid making the routes so predictable. Now, the main reason why I personally take issue with the “friends to lovers” trope being so frequent in a dating sim is that it implies that all friendships will evolve into romances, almost like it’s a “natural” evolution. I don’t agree with that. People can be close while JUST being friends, and there is nothing wrong with that. I don’t think it should be so consistently be treated as lesser than, or as a lead up to, romance. It detracts from the value of the friendship itself and amounts it to being just a step along the way to the “ultimate happiness”/end goal that is “true love”. This feeds into issues that I brought up in my first post: 1) important character growth is gated behind interacting with the main character and 2) it unintentionally sends the message that “love” is what will help you be a better person, and that if you don’t have romantic love, then you cannot improve, or you will have a harder time improving. That can be extremely invalidating to see, especially for people who may be going through a tough time, those who are actively trying to improve themselves, or for people who don’t feel romantic attraction at all.

I do think that love takes a lot of time and investment to make work (even once a relationship is established, it still takes effort to keep it afloat), but I think that this is true of ALL relationships, including platonic ones. It is not mutually exclusive to romantic love. I disagree with “the more time you spend together with people, the stronger the bonds get”. That’s a very broad generalization that completely disregards context. Think of the characters that spend a lot of time in bad situations with others. Does that mean that Leona is “close” with Falena (since they’re family and always saw each other around)? Or that Jamil thinks of Kalim as a friend (because let’s remember that they’ve literally been together since childhood), even though Jamil states that he holds a lot of resentment toward him? What about the boys that don’t spend a lot of time together, does that mean that their relationships are somehow weaker? Are Chenya and Trey not close to Riddle because Mama Rosehearts forbade them from playing together as kids and they didn’t meet again until high school? Are the twins not that close to Azul because they didn’t really pay attention to each other until middle school? Spending time together doesn’t necessarily mean it will strengthen your bonds, and neither does not spending time together mean that it will weaken your bonds. It really depends on what that time is spent doing, and how the characters involved interact with one another.

In saying all of that, I’ll circle back to the conclusion of my original post and how I opened this post: TWST already works as it currently is because it stresses the importance of developing friendships with peers, putting some of your faith in others, and coping with and recovering from trauma on one’s on merits. I don’t think that adding romance would necessarily enhance TWST (again, as it currently is), as it implies that the original is somehow lacking because it doesn’t have romance.

TWST being the way that it is allows for much more creative freedom in the fandom. Since there are no explicit routes, anyone can make their own character with unique designs, backgrounds, and personalities to interact with the characters however they wish (be it romantic or platonic). What you’ve described to me in your ask doesn’t seem to be that different than how a lot of people in the fandom (including myself) make their own OCs and just have them do whatever they wish in the world of Twisted Wonderland—and we’re able to do that because that’s a freedom that TWST gives us by virtue of not being a dating sim, but as a joseimuke (a game directed at a predominantly female audience, but doesn’t make romance explicit or the center of the story). A dating sim would give us defined storylines for how every route’s romance would play out, even if the player would have personally wanted to do something else or if they had thought of a different scenario. A dating sim would focus on romance, leaving other aspects of the overall plot and relationships outside of the love interest (especially platonic ones) unattended to or extremely underdeveloped. A dating sim might already even define who the protagonist is, when the player may not even relate to that identity. The magic of TWST is that you can be whatever you want to be (you don’t even necessarily need to be Yuu, you can make an OC that’s native to Twisted Wonderland too), and you can be in a romance or in a friendship as you please. By comparison, dating sims are just more restrictive overall, and the intimate, sensitive nature of them demands good writing if the intention is to carry over the same nuance that the TWST characters have in the original.

I’m not saying that TWST can never work as a dating sim; I’m saying that a lot of what makes up TWST’s identity fundamentally clashes with what dating sims strive to do. Writing a TWST dating sim that retains the charm and the mindfulness of the original would require significantly reworking the plot (and maybe even its characters), because it’s not as easy as making the love the result of or an extension of TWST’s main story and the characters’ struggles. A genre shift is not so simple to enact, even if the intention is to make a dating sim that’s “not like other dating sims”. If anything, I’d think that would require far more planning and tact.

I want to reiterate that I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting a TWST dating sim. I also don’t think there’s anything wrong with not wanting anything deep out of it! It’s fine to just want to escape reality for a bit and to feel loved by your favorite characters. It’s fine if you don’t want to consider darker elements and if you want it to just be fluffy. The only thing I am saying here is that if you want a TWST dating sim that preserves the nuance of the original, it’s going to take more than just porting over the lore and the aesthetics. A TWST dating sim would inevitably be different than the original, and that is, in part, what makes it so fascinating. I feel that people tend to underestimate just how much goes into writing of any kind, but especially for writing that is both creative and mindful 💦 I honestly applaud anyone that’s taken to such feat, because I know that writing (and for nearly 20ish different routes) isn’t easy.

I hope that I’ve managed to communicate my thoughts in a respectful manner! Again, I want to stress that I share NOT to shame or to criticize, but to critique, to educate, and to potentially open up avenues for further discussion.

Hey hey~ I have this random idea. Hear me out:

What if Riddle's father is Azul's step dad and Riddle's parents are divorced because Riddle's father hate how his mother treated Riddle. So instead of son of two famous doctors of Queendom of Heart, Riddle is the son of a famous doctor and a lawyer!

But it means instead of fully human, Riddle is actually half merman. His mer form is quite unique, since he looks like a goldfish. You know, the aquarium, man made, kind.

It also means Riddle is Azul's step brother. But because of this marriage Riddle finally got a good mother that will spoil him. Since we don't know when did Azul's mother divorced and remarried, it makes Riddle's friendship with Trey and Che'nya to be questionable depend on the timeline of this marriage.

Either way, I want to see whatever stupid things that happen during their childhood. Heck, it can means two OB didn't happen in canon if it happen!

NGL, I imagined Azul's step-dad to actually be a Shark mer(tiger shark specifically bc yes)... Like a big, bulky, absolute UNIT of a man with scars and all that... But he's actually just puppy energy all across the board. Azul accepts this one because he treats Mrs Ashengrotto like the queen she is U-Ub

Funny thing... I've made a smol repartition of mers in twst, mostly bc of those NPC sprites. So unlike most expectations, as appearance... In this specific scenario, Riddle would fall in the same box as Azul, which means a lot more human like features rather than fish, but still not at obviously as top fully human and bottom fish. :v

YES! He would be a goldfish... But more leaning onto the gradients and spots variations of black and white on that bright red. He might just have one big black spot on his eye in the shape of the heart as a treat (fun fact, those goldfishes are names Kalico or Shubukini(hope I spelled it right)) ;3

Maybe the divorce in between the og Rosehearts couple happens after Riddle's 8... Mostly since around then his mom finds out about him Sneaking out to play. And while his father fully gave his permission for that, it was clear that a big ass argument broke down and here we go with the divorce papers. :v

Poor lil Riddle didn't have any idea why his papa suddenly said they will go on a trip to grandma, but he never saw grandma so he's curious to see big shark memaw.

I imagine first the grandma nagging Mr Rosehearts since 'I told you that woman was no good! Thank God the child has your genes!'. Yep... One belt later and she's ready to tare down the ex-Mrs Rosehearts to shreds. :'3

I don't know why, but I want Romanian like memaws... Like they take no shits and would destroy anything in their path if you ever dare to make them mad. Also in most cases they make good food and gib you money.

And that's how lil Riddle meets lil Azul, who was also on a trip to his grandma. They bond over the fact that 'My parents fought and now I'm on a trip here.' 'No way! Mine too!'.

And that's how Mrs Ashengrotto and Mr Rosehearts meet. And bc my man fought to hell and back for his custody, he decided to help out Mrs Ashengrotto. (more like this octo-lady yanked him and put him to represent her in court and that's when cupid decided to act)

Riddle also doesn't really grasp that well the general mer culture at first. So when he first saw Azul his mind went like static before he decided 'Yep... I'm gonna talk with this guy! He looks nice!' meanwhile Azul had a crying fest since 'who tf is this guy and why is he so nice?!'. Riddle thought he scared him so he starts crying as well and that's when the parents first meet and realise what exactly went down in between these 2.

For now, I imagine bc of their previous wrecks of a marriage, Mr Rosehearts and Mrs Ashengrotto have an engagement period. But like it's so long and both are so comfy and natural around each other that everyone just assumes they married in a more private way. Sometimes even Azul and Riddle forget about it. They once asked Mr Rosehearts where it was his wedding ring and man looked for it for HOURS, just cuz he bought the genuine question.

And school... Oh god school... Just having one overly bullied kid and one kid who never even knew the concept of public schools is just asking for disaster.

First day: 15 kids got collared. Riddle had one kid bite his arm and he couldn't bite back cuz the teach came in. When asked about it, Azul said that those guys picked on him and made Riddle 'smol'.

Later they also meet the twins. Mostly since Riddle and Floyd picked an epic fight and some snitch just had to tell the teach. Azul personally wanted to strangle them, bc he made a bet with Jade on who throws the table first.

But they bond! Both twins find Azul very interesting (and squishy), so they declared they will stick with him. Even though Floyd and Riddle fight daily. Like by now it's the norm for them to square up. It's their love language. U-U

Probably the twins are very confused at the parents situation for the 2 since 'they live together but they aren't married, but still they still kiss in the morning and we call them mama/papa and they don't seem to mind, but still they aren't married.' like... Their lil 10 year old brains can't wrap around that.

So they drew the conclusion that 'oh no, they be cheating with each other!'. Cue another long talk and explanation on why this is fine.

Besides fighting in academics, Riddle and Azul would have a competition over almost anything when smol. They would annoy each other bc they live for that. Also blackmail galore. Azul can't go out bc Riddle would snitch on him about the lipstick incident, while Riddle can't go out as well bc Azul said he will tell about who ate the last piece of cake... Yep... Fun times :'D

As they still get older... They still forget that their parents are 'just engaged', so there is A LOT of confusion in between people when these 2 introduce themselves and mention that they are brothers as well. Like there is some mental gymnastics in here and some may assume the worse. :'3

First time on land is also some hilarious thing bc poor Riddle forgot again that bc since he's half human, he can switch in between forms without potion(his downside is that he must avoid water at all costs). So Riddle just stays on a rock and looks at Azul like he's about to grow 2 heads or something.

"what are you waiting for?" "I don't have a potion..." "You need a potion?" "RIDDLE I SWEAR-"

NRC is also not ready for these 2.

They get in different dorms and since they knew their pops went to NRC, they also ask in Which dorm he was. Watch them ask 'were you in Heartslabyul or Octavinelle?' only to be hit with a 'I was in Ignihyde'. :'3

Also Trey is stunned to see Riddle in here. Mostly since their connection got stranded since that day the ex Rosehearts couple fought and divorced.

Still, Azul and Riddle often eat lunch together. Since the only ones who are actually classmates are Riddle and Jade, the twins also tag along.

One time surely Floyd got a punch in the stomach from Riddle and bro went all giggly mode since apparently... Out of all the possible ways of showing affection... Raw violence was their way... No one knew of this except Azul and Jade who find it enderdaining. But at least now savanaclaw dudes know they shouldn't be picking a fight with the red shortie :v

Unlike in cannon, Riddle becomes Dormhead in his second year, Azul becoming in his first. So first year was establishing the monstro lounge (and getting that sibling discount).

I imagine that in order to learn to share, their parents gave to Azul and Riddle a jar and went all like 'you 2 will share all the money in here. You gain money? You put it in the jar. You take money only from the jar.' Currently, the Jar is hidden under Riddle's bed, since the twins somehow cracked Azul's safe code for the valuts(it's called a hammer, Azul...) and weekly these 2 go over the income.

Second year is when the whole cannon thing happens and hoo Boi.

Riddle first catches Grim and contemplates if maybe he should use the Raccoon-cat on the twins. The headmaster said no tho :<

And then the freshmen... Oh the freshmen... No collar can seem to even hold down Adeuce. Jade suggested homicide and Riddle took it into account.

Azul came once to visit only to see Riddle chasing down Ace and bonking him with his staff.

In chapter 2, Azul also calls Riddle like: 'look... Kingscholar wants to sabotage my boyfriend, but he also is paying me some good ice cold cash for it... So I'm giving you half of the money if you bust him.' 'Give 65%'. '55% and dinner privileges...' 'Deal...' 'also... What did Shroud do?' 'it's Malleus-' 'SINCE WHEN YOU SMOOCH DRACONIA-' beeeeep! 'ASHENGROTTO GET YOUR ASS BACK ON THE PHONE!'

Yeah... Azul would never hear the end of THAT...

And while Riddle's ob doesn't happen, mostly since he got distanced from his mother, the source of his strictness and messed up view on the rules... Azul still had his piece of bullying, no matter what. Soooo :3

Chap 3 is more like Riddle realising that Adeuce messed up bad. He tries to talk Azul out of this, but it falls on deaf ears. In the first year this seemed bearable, but Riddle drew a line this year since it became messed up. That's mainly why he helped Yuu in here.

It gets messy, but that's Azul's wake-up to reality. At least he mends things first with Riddle, mostly cuz siblings! Yay! As if they weren't at each other's throats minutes ago. :D

By the end of the chapter, Riddle treats Yuu and Jack to dinner with money from the jar, knowing full well those are Azul's money as well. >:3

At the start of chap 4, when everyone is leaving for winter holiday, the braincell gang find out that Azul and Riddle are some kind of sibling and that's why Riddle's staying in. Adeuce's collective braincell just let out a big bang explosion at that info. Since Riddle didn't go with them at all to the museum (he tended to dorm duties), Adeuce were pretty much 'Dormhead is a fish?!'

Yep... Someone ace was kicked through the mirror that day.

Scarabia arc is mostly unchanged at the base. Just add in some smol Florid moments and Jamil losing his shit a bit less, since Riddle was at least a good student and if he rubs on Kalim, that may be beneficial.

Pom pom arc is also the same. :v

But then we have chap 6! Hoo boi... Chap 6.

Just Riddle losing his shit, mainly at Malleus cuz 'what do you mean your boyfriends got kidnapped and you are sitting here like a plant?!' Malleus just shrugs. He knows they would be ok. :3

Trey thinking finally Riddle would not chase after danger again, only to be meet with Floyd coming in since apparently Riddle desemned him to watch over Heartslabyul while he's gone.

Trey is both hurt and concerned as fuck-

Just Idia receiving a full slap across the face he plummets into the ground.

After the whole ordeal, Riddle tells Azul that he has very poor taste in men. And that comes from someone who's dating FLOYD of all people.

I imagine that there is a serious time gap in between chap 6 and 7, so that's where I'll pull the actual wedding in between the parents. So it comes like a big shock for everyone when they find out these 2's parents weren't actually married.

Idia having war flashbacks about the wedding, but Azul told him his parents want to meet him and Malleus. Now it's worse. Doesn't help that Riddle gives them the side eye after the whole STIX ordeal. :3

I imagine Idia probably going more whiter than is biologically possible when he sees Mr Rosehearts. Like man is towering over him, being taller than Malleus too, and you tell him that man is the biological dad of the red shortie-

Malleus tries his best to make a good first impression. He fails because he can't get social cues... :'3

And you bet Riddle's just poking at Azul like 'You can't go back into the pot... Mama expects both of us to be here'.

Falena - Known him since they were kids. He has always liked her and at a time pursued her to being his mate but Lerato knew her best friend also liked him so would decline his advances. This only made him want her more even after marriage to her friend.

After he gave Lerato a offer she could not refuse under a risky condition they bonded closer for a time. They are now friends as much as one loyal to crown would be but he left alot of weighted guilt on her shoulders.

Leona - Lerato has known him all his life due to her friendship with Falena. She often motherly doted on him when he was a child to early teens and was his maid for a short time before she moved out of the royal palace. Leona often would tell secret stuff to her and play chess alot with her. He often would grab onto her if Falena was near as he knew that would bother him some. They haven't seen each other in 5yrs and reunite when she takes the job at NRC.

They share a platonic bond and will always help one another out if something is wrong even though its been awhile since they seen each other. Lerato went into as much as dote mode as she could when she learned he had overblotted prior to her coming to NRC.

The Queen - Her best friend from childhood. Always knew she was destined for something amazing. Has been there from very beginning on her path of queendom. Loves designing clothing for her to make her look beautiful. Lerato decided to move out of the palace when the queen was expecting a child to give her full mother space. They often have lunch together when Lerato is near and she free too.

Future is unclear, Lerato dreams of parenthood but can no longer have children. Probably would adopt a child given her age. She still wishes to find a love free of guilt and pain.

Hello! I just wanted to start off by saying that I love all your TWST analysis posts. They're so insightful and well-thought-out. They've made me consider a lot of characters from new angles too (something I appreciate; I absolutely adore reading a take on a character I hadn't considered before and being like "...Dang."). I read your critiques of TWST as a dating sim and dating sims in general and I have to say... Sweet Snapdragons, those were some of the most validating takes I've read in...probably ever. I'm aro/ace and, since I don't feel romantic attraction, I place a greater emphasis on the platonic and familial bonds in my life. Personally, some of my favorite things about TWST are its nuanced views on romance (showcased in the Ghost Marriage/Phantom Bride event) and the lack of overt romance in the game as well as the focus on other types of love and relationships. I can certainly understand why so many people want a TWST dating sim and I'm by no means trying to shame people for that. Heck, the TWST fic I'm working on has a romance element to it (mostly I just looked at my OCs personality and picked four potential love interests based on who I thought she'd gel the best with), but her platonic relationships (and those of the other characters) are just as important and her bonds with her family, whom she's currently separated from and desperately wants to get back to, are probably the most important ones for her. I don’t think I would've been able to make my story or my MC work if the source material was a dating sim, especially the Harveston event since none of her love interests are present for that one. I 100% agree with what you said about TWST offering fans the creative freedom to make so many unique OCs and takes on bonds (platonic or romantic) with the boys because there aren't rigidly defined routes or guidelines. Again, I'm not trying to shame anyone for what they like and I sincerely hope this doesn't come off that way. It was just...amazingly gratifying to read similar takes from someone else, especially someone whose opinions I've really come to respect. Thank you for taking the time to read this rambling. Hi, I’m glad that you enjoy my own ramblings so much 🤣 and that those ramblings have helped you in some way. I often feel like I’m alone (or at least in the minority) when it comes to a lot of my TWST takes, so I’m really happy that other people feel gratified and validated by reading the thoughts that I put out into the fandom.

I agree with you, I really enjoy that TWST has really nuanced views on romance (I happened to write an analysis on that if you were interested and haven’t already taken a look!) and that it stresses the importance of friendship and familial love too. A lot of us love TWST because it offers us so much freedom of expression and freedom of interpretation when it comes to its characters and its relationships. I always love seeing what kinds of creative things the fandom comes up with! ^^
