fir 5: How many setbacks can (or will) your OC endure before they give up on a course of action?  Or alternatively, how many times can they be let down or betrayed before they turn their back upon another person?

Hmm Cori is very much an optimist of the “I will make this work” kind (rather than “everything will work out fine” kind). So they may give up on a course of action if it doesn’t work, but it’s just so they can find a different course of action that will achieve the same or similar goals. They’re really not one to give up! And they’re also very forgiving. I honestly don’t know that they would turn their back completely on a friend or someone they trusted, but they’re far more likely to do it if their betrayal hurts someone they care about than if it’s just to them. They always see the best in people, and they might trust someone less after they find out they’re lying or they betrayed them, they might even distance themself, but I don’t think they would completely turn their back on a friend who let them down.

pine 2: What is the worst emotional or spiritual wound that your OC has ever suffered?  What was the long-term impact of this experience? What helped them to move on from it (if they ever have)?

Poor Cori has suffered a lot of emotional wounds lol but I think the worst has been losing the ability to cast since In From the Cold (well not quite losing completely, but it’s very hard to even summon carbuncle because the whole thing messed up their ability to channel aether). Summoning and magic use in general is such a big part of Cori, for like their whole life! And to be cut off from this thing that’s so fundamental to them is really difficult.

They have not yet moved on from it—between the end of ENW and the patches Cori hides on her island to recuperate and avoid her feelings on this and some other things. They get coaxed off their island by Shtola for the patches, but they still can’t cast. I’m not sure how long it would take to move on if they had to accept they could never cast again, but fortunately they will at some point have the idea of consulting Stephanivien about using aetherotransformer tech to help them channel aether. But I haven’t moved on to happy Cori yet so she’s stuck in low key misery in my mind ahdjkssk

birch 1: Has your OC ever experienced something that changed them irrevocably?  If so, then how do they view the person they were before?

I think there are a lot of things I could choose from but I’ll do something positive after the last answer lol. Prior to joining the Scions Cori was a really lonely person who worried a lot about letting down anyone who did care about them by not being perfect, by not living up to what they should be, and who tried very hard to do things by themself/without bothering anyone. This didn’t go away overnight but by the end of Shadowbringers I think it’s really cemented that they are not alone, they have friends and family who love and care about them, who will fight by their side and pick them back up. They still have a tendency to fall back into their bad habits and run away a little bit (see above answer lol), and of course there’s a loneliness inherent in being the WoL (at least to Cori) but. it has definitely made a difference in them to feel so loved. to be loved is to be changed and all that.

omg hiii ok so i know i have 383629648348 asks to answer but i saw this one in my notifs (🤯) and i feel like it’s a good question to answer given the incessant posting ive been doing lately lol. describing it w/o doxxing myself is hard so this is gonna be a very like distilled version of it that doesn’t quite communicate the apeshitness of it all (and in some ways erroneously distorts it lol) but.. i work at my alma mater (<- sentence i am still not used to saying. but i interned there for 4 yrs of undergrad and i just graduated and work full time there now) in an office / department that does like… leadership and engagement stuff basically. and i help to design / write / plan / facilitate workshops and programs for ppl to connect meaningfully w each other in their everyday lives / environments and build community and figure out how to address social issues etc etc! it is extremely emotional both bc of the nature of the work but also bc (and i feel like i said this exact sentence recently on here lol) several of my my colleagues past and present are also my besties whom i am deeply enmeshed with and adore with my whole heart <3 so i consider myself very lucky bc some of the ppl i love most are all connected to this amazing place / initiative that is like… quite literally nationally recognized and renowned in the field btw lol. like we are pioneers at the forefront of this movement and it is soooooo much. but anyways i alsohave a very turbulent offline life LMAO and half the posts in the tag are abt like.. me navigating our dynamics or grappling w impostor syndrome / anxiety / the pression / whatever. but it’s a rly good time i love it so much… litcherally my dream job 🥰

3. Do you anticipate writing for a new fandom this year? Which one?

i can't really predict what i will be into ahead of time but probably not! ffxiv still has a death grip on me lol and i've got quite a few fics for it i'd like to work on, but maybe if i ever get around to actually doing my mass effect replay i might write for that 👀

8. Is there a story idea in your mental vault that you’ve never been brave enough to try writing? Is this the year? Can you tell us about it?

there's a few ideas i've been sitting on that i'd like to try working on this year, besides the AU i've been posting about. primarily i want to write island fic! it takes place at the end of a few months gap between endwalker and the patches-cori retreats to their island to emotionally recover from losing their casting and living when they didn't expect it. shtola comes for a visit but it's kind of tense bc cori doesn't want shtola to know just how bad they've been feeling which causes shtola a lot of frustration. but it would be the fic where they finally work through that particular tendency of cori's. the main reason i haven't really done much more than plan is that i have built it up a lot in my head and im worried it will be bad akldjfd and also because it is literally just cori and shtola. on an island with no one else. for at least a few days. which i also worry will be boring 😂but i'd like to finish it before DT!
