I love Darry’s and Soda’s characters individually, but man, there’s something so compelling about putting them together. It’s that fire and ice dynamic, sun and moon, two halves of the same whole—except instead of generating conflict (as those tropes tend to do) they actively make each other better.

Something about Soda being the only one who can make Darry laugh. Something about Darry being the only one who can make Soda slow down. Something about opposites and weaknesses and having each others’ back. Darry, who grew up too fast. Soda who will never grow up at all. Darry who doesn’t smile anymore. Soda who smiles like an invitation to better times. Darry who can’t say no to Soda, and Soda who looks up to Darry. Friends and equals and brothers.

Something about your stupid kid brother who drives you crazy and knows you better than anyone in the world and reminds you good things still exist. Something about your grouchy big brother who lets you get away with everything and always has your back and keeps you grounded when the world is too loud. Something about chocolate cake and inside jokes and scraped knees and lived experience. Something about sharing worries and bills and staying up late debriefing about the day. Something about being kids together. Something about growing up together, too. Something about being stuck in Tulsa but it’s not so bad because at least you’re stuck with the person who gets you.

Soda and Darry, man. The brothers of all time.

I think Mezou Shouji is honestly kinda underrated, not because of his quirk, but because of his attitude, when Tokoyami was hurting and couldn't control dark shadow he was genuinely concerned, not only that but he so easily understood where Izuku was coming from. I also just love his character design.

Also I feel like Shouji and Tokoyami's dynamic isn't talked about enough, I understand it's only really focused on in one episode, especially since Shouji tends to get minimal screen time, but they are so powerfully there for eachother I find it so sweet.🖤💙

Anrifi and N 🗣

"Is it getting any better?" Anrifi asks, camera off and icon grey.

N turns their head up, tearing their eyes away from the most recent collum sent to them for editing. It was a decent length, but that was the only way it was decent. The actual contents were ass.

"What is 'it'?" They ask.

"You know, everything?" Anrifi barely clarifies. The sounds coming from the laptop imply that he is moving around, shuffling, getting off a communal seating stub potentially.

N stares at the wall for a moment. It's been a second since they thought about their quality of life. Better or worse seems to be a constantly sliding scale dependent on minor inconveniences outside of their control. So that is nice...?

"N. Eeeeeennnnnn." Anrifi's voice is accompanied by muffled clattering and creaking.

"Mh? Sorry, we zoned out. I zoned out." N says, taking a moment to push away from the desk and rub at their face. Before Anrifi can inquire about the number of them that are currently present N says "It's alright. It's good, can't really complain you know?"

"I mean, you could. I hear it's good for blood pressure or something." A rapid click click click of a stove tells N that it's probably well past dinner time at where ever Anrifi is. They huff, both at the unsubtle invitation to complain as well as Anrifi's poor eating schedule.

"You just like hearing me bitch about work." They goad. It gets them a small laugh from the unseen troll.

"And commutes. And your neighbors. I have a varied taste, mate. Don't sell me short."

"What are you even making?"

"Mac and cheese, obvi. You want some?"

"Yeah, feed me through the screen." N jokes, shifting their collum to the far corner of their desk before reaching for the emergency power nap pillow kept in one of the drawers.

"Is that the pillow drawer I hear? Am I boring you to sleep, N?" Anrifi chuckles. N responds with the vaguest noise they can manage.

Laying their head down on the slightly cushioned desk they listen to the various noises coming from the laptop. Cardboard ripping, crinkling, tapping, soft humming of some old rock song they don't know the name of. There are worse ways to fall asleep.
