Seawing Headcanons
(Info below the cut)
With seawings, I think they're going to be one of my favorite tribes for patterning. This one specifically is based on a koi fish. I did forget to do one thing that I have in my personal headcanons. Experimenting with new way of doing the eye when simplifying it on the bust. Also, accidentally merged a couple layers when the patterning was on a separate clipping mask.
Tribe Headcanons
Seawings have additional feelers to find food such as clams. The deeper one hatches, the more they have.
All the feelers have glowing patches that are similar to an angler fish.
The edge of the chest ruff is fade tinted the color of the gills.
Their gills pop out when courting another dragon. These colors very depending on the area the egg has been laid at and took to hatch. Meaning there is a wide variety of colors they can be.
The bulbs along the chest and spine also glow.
Seawings have big feet to aid in swimming.
Their wings are counter shaded, so the bottom color is the lightest while the top color is the darkest on their bodies.
The glowing patterns on their wings batches their glow scales normally, being rare when they match more with the gill colors
Seawings are the second smallest tribe normally.
This can change depending on the depths the eggs have been laid at. In tide pools or similar shallow areas, they will tend to almost be the size of runts or pygmies. If they're laid in deeper depths than most, like near under water volcano depths, they tend to get very big.
These Seawings tend to have their own health issues when hatched and aren't recommended.
Tide pool Seawings tend to have harder than diamond scales, making it hard to move a lot. They are considered what we humans call "Pug-like". It is easier for them to gain a version of MĂźnchmeyer disease due to the hardness of their outer scales. Though they have been getting better in more recent histories.
Tide pools are typically derogatorily called "Sunfish" or "Blob fish" due too their health issues, though thankfully it has ceased a bit in recent decades. It's not a lot better though
Deep depth Seawings tend to be almost the exact opposite issue. Their bones and scales are softer than diamonds and they cannot surface as they are a purely aquatic species.
Deep depths tend to be a bit more fire resistant due to being closer to the underwater volcanoes.
Patterning of different sea creatures isn't unheard of, just not as common.
Their glow scales and can camouflage slightly like an octopus to keep themselves from being found. Normally the color will match the surrounding scales and patterns.
Seawings take great pride in their flashy scales, staying near water to make sure they look like a piece of sunken treasure.
Lore Headcanons
Seawings are experts at writing stories. They do not often tend to write histories, sometimes exaggerating them slightly to make them a bit more suited for a story to write.
They have had several heated arguments with the rainwings that they're better artists. It was consecutively agreed that seawings were better writers while rainwings are better artists. Seawings don't go into tangents with flowery, emotional, descriptions that pause the entire plot to get into.
Seawings still have issues with the ethics of having their eggs in tide pools and deep depths due to the issues it may cause to those variants of those hatched from those circumstances. Both variants were once used for past wars, and even one civil war.
Other exports include pearls, sea treasures, and fish.
Their best alliance is with the mudwings as they have quite a bit in common when it comes to what they can do. It's believed that they are distant relatives when it comes to evolution.
Their funerary rites include placing two large pearls in their snout underneath the tongue, wrapping the snout in linens that matched their gill and glow scale colors. Once this is done, they are buried halfway into the sand so their bodies can become ecosystems for the creatures that share the same ocean.
Their afterlife is similar to to the river styx, though it is a forest-like place where their guide will ask for the pearls as payment so they can swim in the oceans of the afterlife. The linens are used as a make-shift pouch.
Seawings see an apology as a way to explain why they did the action. Their apologies are giving reasons for their actions. Just saying something like "I'm sorry" or "I apologize" without reason is considered disrespectful and the quickest way for them to take it as a sign for the other dragon to fight for repentance. This makes them the tribe that is quickest to anger.
Drawing Inspirations
Their bodies are similar to a Persian cat.
Marine animals are a great source of coloration and patterns.
Pugs are a great reference for the way a tide pool seawing looks like.
Whales and sharks bodies are best for references for the deep depths seawings, though their feelers are better to be referenced from octopi.

Y'know I had just added the đ because I was asking about the ribbon and I wanted you to know it was the same person on the follow up ask xD but I also went :o irl at being called ribbon anon!
I saw you had tagged the bonus rambles about the mimic's name! I have been dying to ask that too! but you also mentioned follow up rambles so I figured we'd learn it then?
Noooo what happened to Scar's vex wings?? D: Also how do Scar's vex wings work in general? are they out all the time like Grian's or can he magic them away??
-đ
naah, you have to keep it now! youâre officially the ribbon anon! itâs yours! :3c accept your fate <3
as for the bit about the mimicâs name⌠i think iâll make a separate post about that a little bit later (either later today or tomorrow). itâs not going to be a part of the Main Big Mimic Arc Rambles, because itâs something me and link figured out sort of on the side, later. but iâm happy to tell you about it, so keep an eye out for that one!
scarâs vex wings are magic, and he mostly has them hidden away. i asked link to tell us all more about how that works, so if youâre interested, go check it out on their blog! >> link to the post here <<Â
but yes yess let me tell you about what happened to scar's wings! and what better way to tell you than through an unnecessarily long storytime. tucking it under the cut <3
so. you know how i mentioned that they meet by hunters pouncing on grian, and grian getting hurt? mmh. we start with grian in pain, hungry and dehydrated to the point of lightheadedness, and exhausted from lack of sleep as well as a pretty significant bloodloss. basically, heâs out of commission, and itâs up to scar to take care of him and desperately try to keep him alive on zero supplies.
they make their way to a crevice in a ravine that leads into a cave. (in between this and that, there were tears and panic and desperation. and kisses. shh.)(and of course, the ribbon.)Â
i think this cave is very fun, so iâll yoink two snippets from the rp, one from scarâs pov (link) and one from grianâs (me), so you can get into this pretty atmosphere too <3Â
-- SCAR POV snippet:
His best way of describing the place would be this nightmare serverâs best attempt at a lush cave, Scar thinks somewhat bitterly.
And a rather sad attempt at that.
Thereâs greenery, which is shocking enough given how almost everything theyâve seen has been dead or dying. Itâs mostly moss, a few sparse patches of grass, and a leafy substance that sticks to the walls, littered with thorns.Â
Vines stretch down from the ceiling, but theyâre not bright and colorful like glow berry vines back home. They do glow, but itâs only a faint illumination, somehow still managing to be grey and drab. And itâs not the fruit that glows either, but rather the vine itself, almost pulsating. Almost breathing.Â
It makes Scar uneasy, but not immediately threatened. And unfortunately thatâll have to do.
There is fruit on the vines, for what itâs worth, but theyâre bruised and darkened. Questionable at best. Scar doesnât like their chances.
What matters, however, is the water.Â
Thereâs a small pond in the center of the cave with water pooling into it slowly from one of the walls.Â
Itâs not the cleanest source of water given the dirty moss and dying roots that crawl along the shore, spreading their way underwater in various places and tinting the surface green, but theyâre hardly in a position to be picky.Â
(Itâs likely better than the river from before, surrounded in mud and grime and later death.)
Right now a place like this may as well be paradise.
âHome sweet home?â Scar offers jokingly, though timidness seeps into his tone. He really hopes it can be, at least long enough for them to get back on their feet.
-- GRIAN POV snippet:
Itâs the rhythm trailing off and stopping, that finally forces Grian to crack his eyes open. He blinks, chasing the blur away, trying to take in their new surroundings: the moss coats walls and ground in stray patches, lending them some colour in a place thatâs otherwise drab and grim; the pond in the center glitters faintly, murky water reflecting murky light; the growth clinging to the stone walls and hanging from the ceiling looks wholly unhealthy, slick and sick, mushy, rotting, held together only in places. The vines seem to be breathing, swaying the gentlest bit even though Grian canât feel a breeze; a calm but wholly unsettling pulse of light fades and brightens in time with their miniscule motion, always veering on not-enough, casting them in various shades of dimness.Â
Just like anything else here, this cave looks wretched and like nothing he is familiar with.Â
And yet Scat tacks a joking phrase on it, like plonking down a cheesy mat that says Welcome in cursive, deliberately and triumphantly placed in front of a building thatâs entirely falling apart. Thereâs no salvaging this, but Grian chuckles quietly anyway, and with a wry curl of his lips, he echoes back, words hollow and barely touched by misplaced amusement: âHome sweet home.â
And it just might beâor the closest thing they can achieve to it right now. Itâs dark and damp and unpleasant, the air a bit stale and the walls oozing icy chill, but itâs shielded and hidden, quiet, sheltered from the wind and the rain, with a pooled source of water perfectly within reach. Itâs more than they expected. More than they couldâve hoped for.
----
now that you can imagine the absolute beauty of this place, for no reason at all but to indulge me, we can continue!
scar carefully sets grian down by the wall to rest. grian lies down in the only way he knows to be safe: with his dishevelled wings tucked tightly against a wall, feathers as much out of sight as he can manage, despite the horrible discomfort of it. and scar leaves to try and gather some supplies, leaving behind a promise that he wonât stray too far, wonât get out of sight.
he manages to put together enough things to light a fire, while grian dozes off into an exhausted, shivery sleep. with the fire lit next to the avian, scar moves away again, even as fatigue drags at him and begs him to stay, to rest. because this is all on him now: he needs to provide, he needs to protect, he needs to make sure they stay alive. (and it terrifies him, because he doesnât have the best track record of staying alive, back on hermitcraftâ) and for that, they need more supplies.
so he ventures back into the cave, searching. pawing at the stone. digging. trying so, so very hard to get something out of it all. using his wings to aid his aching legs. they provide dim, pale blue light, which also helps as he moves further and further away from the fire.Â
he makes sure to constantly look back, anxiously checking the area surrounding the fire, making sure nothingâs approaching grian, whoâs wounded and asleep and completely defenceless.
scar does not pay nearly as much attention to his own surroundings.
thatâs when it happens.
the crackling of the fire almost completely swallows up the familiar warning hiss of a creeper.
scar whirls around, eyes wide, catching a sight of a creeper thatâs all wrongâdistorted and decaying, overgrown with vines and fungus, with haunting empty voids for eyesâbefore it sets off and explodes.
all scar can do is fling his wings forwards in a desperate attempt to shield himself with them.
this is what tears his wings to tatters. (you can see their state on some of linkâs art - like the hhau scar design/reference sheet)
scar skids on the hard ground, thrown by the force of the explosion, wings wrapped around him protectively. immediately after the cave falls quiet and dark again, his wings fade, too, andâ heâs disoriented and breathless and in pain, and the explosion woke grian upâan awakening pitch straight into confused, searing panicâand scar doesnât really get much of a chance to process whatâs happened and how much damage there is. in fact, he doesnât check his wings for a very long time. (he knows theyâre damaged.) (he doesnât want to seeâdoesnât want to feel it.)
so itâs a while before scar gets to understand just how damaged his wings are.
and itâs even longer before grian sees.
<3
#hhau#ange answers#ribbon anon#scar's poor tattered wings#ofc it was a creeper#scar's cursed with creepers#also i miss my discord emojis#i struggle so much out in the world wide web without them#that was random but it had to be said

Cabin 3, Poseidon

Credits: me
The cabin always has the fresh smell of salty ocean air
Itâs like standing on a beachâthereâs even a faint sound of waves and seabirds, even though the ocean is far away
Outside the cabin, thereâs a small tidal pool or lagoon filled with clear, turquoise water, complete with fish, starfish, and other ocean creatures
Poseidonâs kids use it to practice water control, and other campers often stop by to admire the marine life
Just like the Zeus cabin, the mood in Poseidonâs cabin can impact the weatherâespecially if his child is feeling strong emotions
If theyâre angry or upset, nearby bodies of water get choppy, and thereâs even a chance for a sudden rainstorm
Every Poseidon kid starts a shell collection, usually with shells from their first trip to the cabin
Itâs said the god himself places the most beautiful shells on their bunks, and each shell has unique colors and patterns
The cabin itself is âprotectedâ by a large, magical conch shell at the entrance
Poseidon kids say that if anyone tries to enter without permission, the conch sounds a loud warning noise, like a foghorn
Every once in a while, the waters in Poseidonâs lagoon will glow faintly, leading to an unknown path through the camp woods
Some say itâs a blessing from Poseidon, guiding his child back to the water or even the Sea of Monsters
But only Poseidonâs kids seem able to see it
The cabin never floods, even when thereâs heavy rain
Somehow, the cabin seems to naturally repel water and wind in a way that feels like Poseidonâs protective touch, like a magical barrier surrounding it
Thereâs a tide calendar inside the cabin, showing the phases of the moon and the times for high and low tides
Itâs a way for Poseidonâs child to stay connected to the ocean, and the calendar changes magically on its own
Thereâs a small alcove with a trident symbol where Poseidonâs child can go when they feel lost or need strength
Itâs believed that Poseidonâs blessing is strongest there, and it helps them find the courage and power to keep going
Thereâs a patch of soft sand near the cabin that shifts and transforms into a mini ocean landscape for Poseidonâs kid to practice
One day it might be full of waves, another day calm, or even with a light whirlpool for them to train in
Every so often, Poseidonâs child has vivid dreams of the sea, like glimpses of underwater kingdoms, strange creatures, and treasures buried in the sand
Theyâre not quite visions but more like Poseidonâs way of reminding them theyâre connected to the oceanâs mystery and power

AAAAAAAAAAA OK so back at it again with more fake Trigun world building
So what if Gunsmoke used to be an ocean planet that overtime dried out into a desert, and there're still little remnants of the Old Gunsmoke left?
MY MAIN IDEAS FOR THIS BEING:
An area of desert that is FULL of blue bioluminescent sand like those beaches, maybe with large pockets of quicksand. OOOOOOO pockets of quicksand could have a more steady glow to tell them apart from normal stable sand, could be explained by the pools having more constant movement/and easier time moving like when wet sand gets jiggly. The normal steady sand looks like normal not-glowy sand until it moves, so every step glows, you can see worms moving if they're close enough to the surface, and there's slight little glows of blue as sand is blown across dunes.
GIANT GARDEN EEL TYPE WORMS. THEY ACT LIKE GARDEN EELS. They could call them Standing Worms or something, that'd be cool. They live in big groups and hide in the sand when a predator comes by, but since they're huge humans don't really bother them, so you could go right up to one without it going in the ground. ALSO SINCE THEY'RE HUMONGOUS they end up being like little living patches of forest, but like in the sense that it's a bunch of big tall things grouped in one area you know??? Whenever they do get spooked, they cause little earthquakes in the area bc a group of giant things burrowing into the ground is not gonna be still. AAAAAAAA THEY COULD BE CALLED QUAKE FORESTS THAT'D BE SO COOL. Oooooooooo and the worms could gently sway like they're underwater. Like imagine seeing this in the desert and you're like "oh wow, a bunch of pillars! Huh, these are some weird ass rocks ngl. Oh...OH. OH GOD WHY IS IT MOVING." I think that'd be a lil funny.
ANYWAYS IM SO NORMAL ABOUT OCEAN THEMES WHERE THEY SHOULDN'T BE AND COOL OCEAN THINGS IN GENERAL SO AAAAAA YEAH HOPE Y'ALL LIKE IT LOVE AND PEACE BE UPON YE <33333
#AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA#THIS IS WHAT YOU FUCKS GET WHEN I COOK MY TWO FAVORITE INGREDIENTS TOGETHER (MY TWO BIG FIXATIONS)#ENJOY THE FRANKENSTEIN#hhaggahshsgsghhhgghhgg i love making up concepts for Trigun#its so fucking fun to play with#trigun#trigun stampede#trigun maximum#trigun headcanons#trigun 98#mossycobb has a headcanon again#i hope this infects you all like it has infected me

alright, it's done. i finished it.
this is the third and final part of things that happened in my first bg3 playthrough ever that I found so funny that I put them in my notes (spoilers below)
let me start this by saying I have only cried twice in the 155 hours it took me to complete this shit. however, I have almost-screamed at the characters more times than I'd like to admit. but first here's stuff that happened since the last one of these posts I made:
after killing Orin I went around Baldur's Gate for a while and did odd sidequests, including
clearing out a haunted house and sidelining to kill a stinky man in a wardrobe (and drag his body to a guy two streets over)
entirely ignored Gale's quest to look at a book because I kept getting arrested there after having killed the boss mage guy
I also foolishly though this wouldn't have any consequences. oh boy was I wrong
went to see a underwater prison, got told off by Gortash, decided to explore it after killing him, and promptly forgot to do so
killed Gortash! fuck that guy the only good thing about him is his fancy robe
tried to recruit a dragon called Ansur, found out the emperor is Balduran (????????? honestly I was shocked)
killed said dragon and felt like I was playing skyrim all over again
found a letter ("Dear Ansur") by Balduran/the Emperor. this was the first time I cried. I could still cry.
patch 6 came out! that was yesterday and I spent about 10 minutes trying out new kisses and sitting on Shadowhearts stool in camp (she now says "I'm glad you decided to join me" or something like that when you do)
went pretty much straight to the underground pool thing where the brain was supposed to be
failed abysmally to Dominate The Brainâ˘
got pulled out by the emperor and had to start beef with Lae'zel because I had also forgotten to care about Orpheus and the hammer from the House of Hope
admittedly, I didn't really forget, I just didn't want to spend any more time with Raphael than I absolutely had to
my +14 persuasion saved the day once more and Lae'zel was fine with the one hope in her life getting his brains sucked out
went off to fight the brain once more. my game crashed twice trying to load that cutscene.
met all my allies! I forgot how many there were actually, and I only called on two of the groups later on
fought a lot. like a LOT lot.
got to the Netherbrain and kicked it's ass*
*had to reload about 3 times and try again because Minsc at level 12 was stuck on 100 hp for some reason and kept fucking dying
finally managed to kill the fucker! had Lae'zel deal the killing blow which seemed very fitting
more cutscenes, but this one actually didn't crash the game, I got to look at some beautiful unloaded walls and stuff instead
Lae'zel left right after we got to the haven. understandably so
remember how I ignored Gale's quest? well he didn't blow himself up like he inteded earlier, but he left to becOME A GOD????? I cannot fucking deal with this man
Karlach on the pier. this was the second time I cried, but unproportionally much so
Wyll left with her for Avernus, the little cutscene of them arriving there made me feel a bit better
Astarion had to leg it because of the sun (sorry)
Shadowheart didn't do much of anything during all of this, neither did Minsc, Halsin or Jaheira
decided to go help kids with Halsin, seems to fit my character (eventhough I really didn't roleplay so much)
we got an epilogue! yippie!
caught up there with everyone, except Lae'zel (who was there via the fantasy version of zoom) and Gale (who was there via the fantasy equivalent of a voicemail)
tried to hug Gale, couldn't, almost cried again but managed
also met a tressym who I recognized from fanart as Tara. I don't know why she was there, we never met her before and Gale hadn't mentioned her either
read a LOT of letters the party had received. barely kept my composure at the Gur's letter to Astarion
Withers did a cool speech and the game ended
after all of this and so much more that I didn't take notes about, I can confidentially say that Baldur's Gate 3 is the best video game I have ever played, and within it's genre my favourite ever!
I'm also emotionally devestated, especially after these final parts (but in a good way)
that's all, thanks for reading!

ADDITIONAL INFO ON OCS
So I've kinda been posting Abt my ocs but I have Very Little Context on their fantasy races so.... heres the info I've cooked up ALSO IT HAS INFO ON JORDAN AND ROWAN
Merfolk are different from mermaids, merfolk are bipedal and still have 'fish-like' characteristics (fins, scales, varied coloration, sometimes tails) whereas mermaids have the torso and head of a human and a tail resembling a fish, and both can breath air and water
I hc that mermaids cant talk, and communicate with each other using humming, whistles and clicks. They have been known to use sign language, but generally show little interest with humans. They are considered very intelligent (similar to dolphins) but are very antisocial outside of other mermaids
Merfolk and mermaids live in most bodies of water, and they tend to have similar traits to the fish that live near them (similar coloration and patterns usually) however, they both tend to not live very far inland (with some notable exceptions for Very Large Lakes)
also mermaids have "ratios" depending on the body of water they live in, so larger body of water means that they'll typically be larger, but smaller bodies of water means that they wont grow very large.
Jordan's mixed merfolk (her parents are both grew up in saltwater, but her dad is a reef nomad and her mom is from a mangrove/swamp) so she has "mixed" traits, namely duller but still colorful hair, fins, and scales.
merfolk can go from living in saltwater to freshwater (and vice versa), but they need to acclimate (usually over a few hrs) because it can cause shortness of breath, scale loss, and rashes.
Also reef merfolk's hair color becomes brighter as their mood improves (its very gradual and only indicates overall mood) and Jordan has a small portion of her hair that reflects that, but her mom loves to comment on it when it's especially bright (imagine an almost neon patch of pink hair surrounded by more muted pinks and blues lmao)
merfolk children grow a full set of teeth VERY quickly, they usually start growing in before birth (they are egg babies) so they can open their shells.
merfolk children start out VERY small bc their eggs are usually about the size of an orange and after hatching they have to be carried in the father's pouch (yes pouch, as in marsupial) until they're around a year old
ALSO!! merfolk children can't breathe air for their first eight months of life, and have to stay underwater
jordan's an only child (pretty rare, twins are more common), and has moved ALOT (her family were nomads and then they moved to a merfolk town inside of a massive cave (sort of like a cenote))
jordan is a biology nerd, and loves tropical biomes,, she wants to become a scientist one day to help correct misconceptions about mana and magical creatures in the scientific community
loves searching in tide pools and showing others (esp. younger kids) the creatures in them
she can surf, and loves boxing and fighting in general. shes quite feisty and wanted to fight Brie as soon as she saw them lmao (jumpstarting the "rivals" to lovers)
Onto Rowan!!
Rowan's people (I haven't made a name for the fantasy race yet) live in very dense evergreen forests where the trees grow VERY large (think redwood trees) so they live in the treetops and and their villages are pretty well hidden because of that.
Their main characteristics are their horns and long ears. they also have wings (small and located lower on the back) meant for gliding and "talon-like feet" (long claws and toes, like a bird almost)
they cant fly (wings too small D:) but their claws allow for them to climb trees very well, to the point that they don't need ladders, keeping them very unreachable
they keep their babies on their backs (like possums) under their wings, and twins are the most common but single children aren't very rare either
they have very furry backs, to "hide" their wings (and offspring)
they mostly eat fruit, vegetables, nuts, and berries, and will occasionally hunt deer or rabbits (protein)
fur is a HUGE DEAL, and is only worn for special occasions (weddings, birth, death, graduation, etc.)
Rowan's village's main products are jams and preserves, and they have a huge festival every year to celebrate jam making and abundance
Rowan's town has a part 'on the ground', its on top of a steep isolated cliff with some buildings that's surrounded by trees (where the 'main village' is)
Rowan has three older brothers, who were all raised by their dad (dead mom) and his brothers are all significantly older than him (weird little brother vibes)
Rowan loves wood carving (his dad taught it to him and his brothers, but he's to only one to take a genuine interest in it) and he gifts people wood carvings of animals, as well as embroidered stuff.
one of the nearby villages is known for making garments to accommodate wings, and Rowan's aunts live there, they taught him sewing and seaming and he takes up embroidery and cross-stitch
hes a very crafty fellow, but his not-so-secret passion is inventing. He (tries) to make tech that it compatible with mana (magic) and is trying to make it a viable power source (renewable energy)

I was being chased by a man called "Mustache Pete" (weirdly, he didn't have a mustache) He was trying to give me a haircut, which I really didn't want. Eventually he caught me and gave me an ugly haircut. My hair was almost completely gone, and only a few soft, fuzzy patches were left. I told him angrily that my hair looked like caterpillar fuzz. I spent the rest of the dream at a swimming pool, trying to hide underwater so people couldn't see my hair as well, but I kept having to come up for air, and I would always get nervous someone would see me when I did.

Encantober Day 26: Lost
Antonio was having a wonderful day. Out of everyone in the family, he probably missed his gift the most. For the others, it was a break from all their duties. Even tĂa Julieta and Luisa, who loved helping others more than anyone else, were kind of relieved to have some rest. But Antonio didnât have those kinds of responsibilities. His gift was justâŚcool. So when the gifts returned, he was thrilled and determined to make the most of it.
He went around town, making conversation with all the animals he saw. Which probably looked weird, butâŚeh. The town had seen weirder things than a boy talking to some chickens. He stayed up late talking to all the animals in his room. His mamĂĄ hadnât been too happy about that when she saw how tired he was in the morning, so he had to promise not to stay up late on school nights anymore. Most of all, he explored.
During their late-night conversations, his animals had told him about some really cool places in the encanto that Antonio hadnât known about. Apparently there was a jungle where his animals liked to go play? This jungle had all kinds of cool plants and animals inside it, and little pools where the capybaras liked to hang out. Naturally, Antonio wanted to see this awesome place, so the animals obliged, taking him with them.
Heâd ridden into the jungle on Parceâs back, since apparently the ground was covered in poisonous plants. The thought made him a little nervous, but he was still more excited about the prospect of discovering new places than scared. Isabela might like some of those plants though. Sheâd gotten more creative after their gifts came back and started making more interesting plants, not just boring flowers anymore. Antonio called out to some tapirs he passed by as he bounced through the jungle, asking them if they could bring some of these plants back to Isabela. After some protests on their part, saying the plants tasted yucky and they didnât want to eat them (to which Antonio responded that they didnât have to eat the plants, just bring some back to Isabela), they finally agreed.
The jungle was just as cool as the animals promised. Light shined through the branches, dappling the ground with patches of sunlight in the half-dim darkness. He saw vividly colored flowers growing on vines which snaked around enormous trees. All kinds of fruit hung overhead, looking juicy and inviting. Antonio really wanted to try it, but he saw the animals avoiding it, and he figured it probably wasnât safe for him to eat either.
Instead, he swung through the trees on some vines, helped along by a group of monkeys. He whooped gleefully as they glided through the trees, accompanied by the screeching monkeys. Once he grew tired of that, some of the other animals brought him to one of the little pools theyâd been talking about.
Boy, had they been right about the pools! The water felt so cool and refreshing after all the swinging that had left him feeling sweaty. He sank into the water, savoring the way it washed over him. When he got bored of that, he started swimming around. Camilo had taught him how. WellâŚCamilo had given him the chance to learn. That was a better way to put it. Camilo had thrown him into the river, thinking Antonio would catch on right away, but he didnât until some of the aquatic animals came over and taught him how to swim.
Antonio enjoyed the rest of the afternoon in the pool, swimming and relaxing, surrounded by animals. A couple capybaras floated by lazily (tired of swimming, Antonio guessed). Some tapir snouts stuck out from the water as well, serving as snorkels for the animals hanging out underwater. Antonio had been pleasantly surprised to learn how many of his animal friends enjoyed the water too. They enjoyed it together for a while. He couldnât really say how long. All he knew was that the light falling through the trees had started waning.
With a sigh, he got out of the pool and dried off. Time to head back. Except, he realized as he turned in a circle, he had no idea where to go.
âHow do I get back home?â He wondered aloud. He turned back to face the animals, which had also exited the pool. âA little help, guys?â
A toucan swooped overhead, squawking.
âIt might be the fastest way, but that doesnât help, since I canât fly,â Antonio pointed out. âBut you could carry me over the trees?â
The toucan perched on a branch, squawking more insistently.
âWhat do you mean, Iâm too heavy to carry? Get some of your friends to help!â
The remaining toucans took off, abandoning their friend, who gave a few defensive squawks.
âYou canât, or you donât want to?â Antonio asked shrewdly.
He couldâve sworn the toucan shrugged before flapping his wings and leaving as well.
Sighing, Antonio turned to the tapirs next. âCan you guys help me?â
The tapir in the front grunted at him.
âIt smells confusing? What does that even mean?â Antonio tilted his head in confusion.
A series of grunts followed, seemingly to elaborate.
âOh, come on, the smell canât have changed that much since we got here!â Antonio protested.
The tapirs just stared at him blankly.
âWell how are you going to get home then, huh?â Antonio challenged.
More grunting.
âYouâre happy right here?â Antonio rolled his eyes. âCan anyone help me?â He cried out, frustrated.
Parce nudged him with his snout, purring. He lay down on the ground expectantly.
âThanks, Parce.â Antonio hugged the jaguar and climbed onto his back. âLetâs go!â
They rode through the jungle together, practically flying through the trees. Antonio was happy about that since it was getting dark fast. Their surroundings blurred past them until they finally reached the edge of the jungle. Out here, it was still pretty light out.
Parce came to a stop, sitting down to let Antonio slide off his back. He snarled contentedly.
âThanks, Parce.â Antonio hugged him again. From here, he could see the path that led back to town and could make his way home. Wait a minute⌠He squinted, trying to make out what he was seeing. Was that⌠a donkey?
Another donkey followed, trotting towards Antonio without a care in the world. Soon, half a dozen donkeys gathered, just walking down the path. When they saw Parce, they froze, eyeing him warily.
âHeâs not going to hurt you guys,â Antonio promised, then turned to stare at the jaguar. âRight, Parce?â
The jaguar shrugged sheepishly.
âWhat are you guys doing all the way out here?â Antonio questioned. âYou should be back home.â He stopped his lecturing when he heard shouting in the distance, growing louder as the voice got closer.
âThere you are,â Luisa huffed, placing her hands on her knees. âIâve been chasing you down all over town.â Taking a moment to compose herself, she began hoisting donkeys on her shoulders. âOh, hey, Antonio,â she added as an afterthought, having just seen him. âWhat are you doing out here?â
âIâve been asking your donkeys the same question.â He crossed his arms, the gesture adorable on his tiny stature. âIâm out here because I was exploring the jungle with my animals.â Upon seeing Luisaâs mouth open to protest, he reassured her, âItâs okay, they kept me safe.â
Luisa nodded, groaning as the weight of the donkeys settled onto her shoulders.
âAs for the donkeysâŚthey say theyâre bored. They ran away because they were tired of being cooped up in that little enclosure all day.â
Luisaâs face grew red from the exertion of carrying the donkeys.
âWhy donât you put them down?â Antonio suggested.
âTheyâll, run away,â Luisa grunted out, buckling slightly under the weight.
âI can guide them.â Antonio shrugged. âI can talk to animals, remember? Iâll make sure they stay in line.â
Luisa appeared skeptical.
âIt makes more sense than you having to carry them,â Antonio noted.
Luisa must have realized he had a point. She dropped the donkeys back on the ground, rubbing her shoulders and wincing. âThanks, Antonio. Iâm so tired of carrying those stupid donkeys around.â
âItâs kind of silly that people are still asking you to do that when they know I can talk to animals and can just guide them home.â
âPeople are used to asking me for help.â Luisa shrugged. âPlus I was around.â
âOhâŚâ Antonio felt bad for leaving when his family still had things to do.
âOh, hey, I didnât mean to make you feel bad, little primo.â Luisa scooped him up and slung him on her shoulders, making him giggle. âWe donât have to be around to help all the time.â
âThat goes for you too,â Antonio reminded her. He took in the view. Luisa was so tall. It was amazing how much more he could see from up here.
âYouâve been hanging out with Mirabel, havenât you?â Luisa teased, bouncing him on her shoulders, then wincing. âOoh, that hurtâŚmaybe I should put you down.â
âGood idea,â Antonio agreed. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt his prima. âLetâs go home. Come on,â he addressed the donkeys huddled to the side. âIâm sure youâll get plenty of exercise walking home.â
The donkeys looked confused, but seemed to accept their fate.
Luisaâs mouth dropped in shock. âTheyâre complaining about lack of exercise?â She asked incredulously. âBecause they can start helping me lug heavy stuff around town if they need some exercise.â
Suddenly, the donkeys looked every way but at the two of them. One dared to bray in protest.
âYeah, youâre not getting out of it.â Antonio patted the donkey on the flank. âYouâll be getting all the exercise you want.â
He and Luisa shared a hearty laugh as they walked home with the donkeys.

Mer/Pitfighting AU where the Technoâs paired with a teenage Mer.
Itâs the Arenaâs signature fight â a human on land, a mer in the sunken half of the pit. All Techno has ever seen is blood in the water, flashes of a trident.
Until heâs forced to take care of the kid.
As Techno stumbles out after one particularly brutal battle, heâs handed a list.
And the pit managers point him towards a glass case. Or rather, the figure curled up inside, barely visible through the murky water.Â
âHeâs your job now.â
*Tap.*
âKid. Get over here.â
Nothing.
Techno sticks his hand in the water, crouched over the cageâs uncovered top. âIâm not joking. Câmon. Iâm not blind, I can see the bloodââ
âIâll be fine.â
Itâs barely audible, muffled through the water.
Techno scoffs. âI donât care. They told me toââ He glances at the list & scoffs again. ââPolish your scales.â And patch you up, of course.â
Silence. Then, ââŚright now?â
Technoâs going to get tired of scoffing. âYes.â
Thereâs a flash of dull blue-green, and the kid surfaces beside Technoâs hand.
Heâs⌠trembling.
âJust make it quick,â is the only thing he says, barely a mumble.Â
But Techno canât.Â
The pitmasterâs list is ridiculously long, filled with things Techno doesnât have a clue how to do.
Cleaning the tank. Polishing the kidâs scales, sharpening his claws, stitching his wounds.
And despite the kidâs flinches, Techno doesnât have time to be gentle.Â
âTommy.â
Techno blinks, sitting across the room from the kidâs tank, halfway through unrolling his own bandages. âWhat?â
âTommy,â the kid says, curled tight beneath the water, eyes squeezed tight as he cradles his newly-stitched wounds and raw-scraped scales. âMy nameâs Tommy.â
Thatâs how it goes.
They fight together, even if Techno can barely catch a glimpse of the kid.Â
But he always sees the aftermath. The gashes in Tommyâs gleaming scales, the blood on his trident.
And the tears in his eyes, only visible when he surfaces for Technoâs care.Â
Itâs⌠hard.
To take care of the kid, to *care* for the kid. Because Techno can only lie to himself for so long â how he winces whenever blood blooms in the water, how he wastes so much time being gentle with Tommy, murmuring gentle assurances.
And it comes back to bite him.Â
Their next fight goes terribly.
It starts with red in the pool, the roar of the crowd pounding at Technoâs nerves. But itâs fine. Surely itâs from Tommyâs opponent â Techno trained the kid, he *knows* he can fightâ
But even underwater, he can hear Tommyâs scream.
Damn the pit. Damn the show heâs supposed to be putting on. Techno dispatches his opponent cleanly, then whirls toward the pool.
And jumps in â damn the fact that he canât swim.
Tommyâs the first thing he sees, a tiny form in the dusty, unfiltered water. On rage & adrenaline alone, Techno kicks toward him â or rather, his opponent.
Heâs not the champion for nothing. Even underwater, the other Mer fighter meets a quick, brutal end.
Even as Techno sinks.
âI got you, Iâ come on, pleaseââ
Itâs not Techno saying it. Itâs Tommy, bloodied tail fighting to lift Techno from the smothering water.
And he succeeds, dumping Techno onto the Pitâs dust-covered ground.
Just as the alarms start to screech.
Techno knows that sound, even through his half-drowned haze.
It means chaos. An evacuation of the audience, of even the Pit managers themselves.
It means a chance of escaping.
âŚfor Techno, at least.
âTechno?â
Techno pulls himself up, feet still dragging in the water. Tommy slumps beside him, blood still pouring from his battered tail.
âThank you, you didnât have toâ you *saved* me, I didnât thinkâ I really appreciateâwait, wait, where are you going?â
Techno stands, trident clattering to the dust before tipping into the water.
This is it. This is his only chance, the promise of freedom he thought heâd never get.Â
But Tommy â dazed, half-dead, confined to the water â canât come with.
âIâm sorry, kid.â
He manages to whisper it. Tommyâs face crumples, water flicking from his hair as he shakes his head.
âTechno? Techno, no, donât, I saved you too, pleaseâ weâre *even,* donât leave meââ
But theyâre not even, and both of them know it.
Technoâd spent *hours* caring for Tommy â even when he didnât need to. Braiding his curls, soothing him after nightmares, half-submerged in Tommyâs bare tank.
Theyâre not even.
So Techno flees.

And that's Unreal Gold completed, with the help of a patch developed a few years ago, and playing on Steam where the game is no longer available for purchase. I've heard it's abandonware now, so nobody would blame you for taking a free tour of Na Pali, I suspect. As for me, my next game is Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Some thoughts on my time with Unreal are below the read more thing. X3
Overall, Unreal definitely feels like a game that dropped right before Half-Life in terms of storytelling. With impressive graphics for the era and an engine that would go on to shape the whole games industry around it, Unreal is a very pretty game for its time. However, narratively it leaves a bit to be desired. It does actually try to tell a story, using various books and messages littered across the landscape and some effective moments of environmental storytelling to put together a pretty basic story that wasn't really trying to be much more. The Return to Na Pali mission pack includes voice acting and creates entire maps as functional cutscenes, and even puts a cutscene in the middle of one stage with some fun side effects. It's definitely an FPS with a story that is, rather appropriately, between Goldeneye and Half-Life in terms of narrative presentation and quality. Considering it was released between those games, that ends up being appropriate.
Gameplay wise, Unreal is very fun. A mix of consumable items and a variety of weapons, each with two firing modes, gives you a lot of leeway in terms of the challenges you're expected to spend resources on. The game's biggest gameplay weakness is that you basically fight every major enemy the game can throw at you before even being a third of the way in. This leads to the second biggest weakness being the solution for this. Enemies possess wildly varying health pools, or maybe it just seemed that way because of the heavy focus on projectile weapons leading to me missing a lot of shots. Exploration only really struggles in two situations: underwater puzzles and that one specific stage I already complained about. Nearly everything else can be solved by turning the brightness up, being patient, and exploring thoroughly. Quick save and quick load is a godsend in this game not because battles are difficult, but because it lets you experiment and take risks to find secrets and alternate routes without having to totally commit if it isn't worth it.
Put simply, Unreal is very much a late 90s FPS with much of the DNA of earlier decade offerings like Duke Nukem and Doom, while having one foot in the next generation that Half-Life was ushering in. And, again, worth mentioning, most of the games you have probably played wouldn't exist as they do (or even at all) without it.

Hello! It's Winter. I started writing this story a few days ago, and after reading Strawberry's "The Wetsuit", I noticed quite a bit of similarity. I don't want dear Strawberry to think I copied her.
The White Bikini
He was working away at his desk, deep in his paperwork, when his wife entered the room trying ever-so-carefully not to disturb him.Â
âI donât mean to interrupt, but I wanted to inform you that Iâm going swimming.â Brigitte stood in the doorway with a white towel wrapped securely around her slender frame. Her shoulder-length hair was tied up in a ponytail and a few wispy pieces fell around her face.
Emmanuel could identify her swimsuit just by looking at the white straps that highlighted her tanned skin.
âYouâre killing me, darling. You know how much I love that two-piece.â He groaned, remembering what happened the last time she wore it. âI promise Iâll join you the moment I finish here.âÂ
With a wink, she whispered, âDonât keep me waiting.âÂ
He had so much work to do, but he couldnât concentrate. He watched his wife swim laps around the pool in nothing but that mouth-watering, jaw-dropping white bikini. He was glad they were alone because heâd never want her to be seen around strangers or their staff in such a revealing suit.Â
Miraculously, his overwhelming stack of files was able to take him away from the pool situation for several minutes. When he looked up again, he screamed internally.Â
Brigitteâs white bikini top had been discarded and laid casually on a patch of grass.Â
When did she remove it?Â
He decided he had worked long enough. He aggressively shoved his papers back into his briefcase and removed his t-shirt and socks before heading outside.Â
âBrigitte! What are you doing?â He shouted from the edge of the pool.Â
âOh, there you are!â She teased, standing in the pool at the perfect level so her breasts were almost fully exposed.Â
âAre you going to join me or do you plan to just stand there and stare?â she joked, laughing at how her husband gawked at her. The usual tent formed in his shorts and she couldn't help by smile.
Without hesitation, Emmanuel stripped off his swim trunks and dove head-first into the water, quickly swimming up to his beautiful wife. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he pressed his body into hers. Only when he felt the fabric of her bottoms against his skin, did he pull away.Â
âYou kept those on?â Emmanuel asked, raising his eyebrow.Â
âI know how much you love to undress me...â Brigitte confessed. "You can have the honour."
She watched as he disappeared under the water, wondering what his next move was going to be.Â
Suddenly, she felt his head between her thighs while his teeth ripped apart the strings that kept her bottoms in place.Â
Careful not to hurt him, Brigitte pulled her husband up by his hair. âWhat are you doing? Youâll die underwater for that long!â She shrieked.Â
âYeah, but what a way to go, chĂŠrie. I would have died doing what I love.âÂ
Hello Winter! â¤ď¸
I see the photos inspired you lot to write stories hahaha
Brigitte knowing exactly what to do to get her man's attention đ
Emmanuel going underwater to rip off Brigitte's bottoms... I like that idea đ đĽľ
Thank you so much, Winter! â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸

WoW Legacy of Athor: How Overcharged Delves and the DISC Belt Work
youtube
What Are Overcharged Delves in Patch 11.1.7?
With the launch of Patch 11.1.7 in World of Warcraft: Legacy of Athor, Overcharged Delves bring a fresh take on the existing delve system. Blizzard has supercharged select delve locations, adding new enemies, hazards, and a progression system that ties everything together. This new feature mixes in Titan-themed challenges and gives players more incentives to revisit these zones.
Only specific delves are part of this system: Fungal Folly, Crevallâs Rest, Nightfall Sanctum, Skittering Breach, Spiral Weave, and Side Street Sleuth. The underwater zones and Excavation Site 9 are not includedâsomething most players will probably appreciate.
Each day, two delves will become âOvercharged.â These can be identified by a lightning bolt icon hovering over their entrance on the map. Overcharged Delves are part of a rotating pool, so check the map daily to see which ones are active.
How Overcharged Delves Change the Experience
Once inside an Overcharged Delve, you'll notice changes right away. New traps and enhanced enemy types turn these areas into something more chaotic but also more rewarding.
The floor traps, often crackling with lightning energy, can initially be dangerous. However, some of them can eventually offer buffs if used correctly. Scattered throughout are static pylonsâeliminating them quickly is the key to avoiding constant electrical damage.
You'll also run into Titan-themed mobs added on top of the usual enemies. These include defense matrix constructs, Sethrak assistants, and oversized robotic units. Every one of these has a chance to drop Titan Disc Shards, a new currency exclusive to this content.
What Are Titan Disc Shards and How Do You Use Them?
Titan Disc Shards are the backbone of Overcharged Delves. Youâll gather them by defeating Titan-infused enemies inside these enhanced delves. Unlike other currencies, there's no limit on how many you can farm in a dayâso if you're feeling ambitious, you can go all in.
Once youâve collected 100 shards, they can be spent at the Overcharged Console, a new interface that unlocks special traits and upgrades. This console becomes available once youâve accessed your first Overcharged Delve.
The more you run these delves, the faster youâll gather shards, and the quicker youâll fill out the research tree. Thereâs no timegate or artificial restriction stopping you from powering through it all in one go if thatâs how you play.
The Overcharged Console Tech Tree
The Overcharged Console functions like a tech tree. It gives you passive and active boosts that only work inside Overcharged Delves. These upgrades include damage buffs, movement speed increases, stat enhancements, and unique procs like a firebolt or electrical storm around your character.
Thereâs no branching or decision-making stress hereâevery node is straightforward and unlockable with the right amount of Titan Disc Shards. This makes the progression smooth and ideal for casual players who donât want to second-guess their choices.
The further down the tree you go, the better the benefits. Over time, youâll move through early defensive perks to more aggressive or utility-driven ones, significantly speeding up your runs.
Getting Started with the DISC Belt
One of the biggest highlights of Patch 11.1.7 is the DISC Belt, short for Durable Information Storage Container. After completing a brief questline in Dornagal, players receive this new item, which already includes a gem socket by default. You can throw in any standard gem right away to get started.
The belt comes with an active ability, but the real customization comes later. Youâll unlock more abilities by running regular delvesâno Overcharged status required. These can be completed at level one, making it easy to collect the full suite of belt upgrades.
Swapping Belt Abilities Made Simple
Every delve ability is tied to a specific zone, and mousing over an empty slot in the DISC Belt interface will tell you which delve it's from. This takes the guesswork out of completion.
Once you've gathered a few, you can easily change abilities on the belt by right-clicking it. This opens a simple menu where you just select which function you want active. No additional items or vendors needed.
The great part? These belt abilities are globalâthey work outside of Overcharged Delves, giving you a power boost no matter where you play. This makes the DISC Belt one of the most important pieces to level up, especially if you're pushing late-season goals or gearing for the next major update.
Upgrading the DISC Belt: What You Need to Know
Leveling up your DISC Belt is tied to a weekly Overcharged Delve quest. Each week, completing this quest will give you an item level upgrade and a piece of random Champion gear. Over five weeks, you can cap the belt at an item level of 700.
This part of the system is timegated, meaning youâll need to check in weekly to stay on track. However, you wonât need to tackle high-difficulty contentâany delve level counts. Whether youâre clearing level one or level eleven, the belt progress will be the same. So if you're mainly after the belt upgrades, you can breeze through the lowest settings without stress.
Cosmetic Rewards from Overcharged Delves
Aside from the mechanical upgrades and gear progression, Overcharged Delves also include a few cosmetic rewards worth pursuing. The standout item is the OC91 Chariot Mount, a sleek, Titan-themed ride awarded once you fully spec out the Overcharged Console tech tree.
Thereâs also a collectible Hearthstone toy called the Redeployment Module. This oneâs easier to getâyou only need to complete four out of the six total Overcharged Delves at least once. These rewards provide extra motivation to engage with the system beyond the power grind, especially for completionists and mount collectors.
These cosmetics help flesh out the rewards pool and give players something visual to show for their time investment. Since the progression is tied to clear milestones, you wonât have to rely on random drop chances or weekly lockouts to get them.
Do You Need to Run High-Level Delves?
A major strength of the Overcharged Delves system in WoW Patch 11.1.7 is how accessible it is. You can complete everythingâcollect abilities, upgrade your DISC Belt, finish weekly quests, and even earn cosmeticsâby running level one delves. There's no requirement to push higher tiers unless you're aiming for something else, like your Great Vault rewards.
That said, if you're already running higher delve levels for loot or other reasons, you might as well do Overcharged ones when available. But there's no pressure. Casual players can get full benefit from the system at their own pace, without needing to min-max delve difficulty.
This approach opens up Overcharged Delves to a wider range of players, especially those who might not usually engage with high-difficulty PvE content.
Tips to Get Started Quickly
If you're just jumping into Patch 11.1.7 and want to take advantage of the new systems right away, here's a straightforward path:
Complete the DISC Belt Quest in Dornagal to unlock the belt and socket your first gem.
Run any two Overcharged Delves for your weekly quest and start collecting Titan Disc Shards.
Spend your first 100 shards on the Overcharged Console and unlock your initial research perk.
Farm basic delves at level one to unlock DISC Belt abilities. Use the tooltip to see which delve you need for each one.
Repeat each week to upgrade your beltâs item level and earn your weekly gear.
This casual-friendly roadmap lets you scale up your power and collect rewards without needing to dive into complicated systems or excessive grind.
Why This System Works for Casual and Hardcore Players
The Overcharged Delves feature strikes a nice balance between depth and simplicity. Hardcore players have the freedom to farm non-stop on day one and optimize their Titan Console fully. Meanwhile, casual players can take a slower pace and still access all the same content and rewards.
The DISC Belt is especially impactful for players who want meaningful power progression that translates outside of delves. And the cosmetic rewards add extra incentive to interact with the system consistently.
Most importantly, nothing here is locked behind high skill requirements. Whether you're leveling alts, finishing up achievements, or just exploring the new patch, Overcharged Delves offer flexible value without steep barriers to entry.
Key Takeaways for Legacy of Athor Players
Only six delves are Overcharged eligible. No underwater zones included.
Titan Disc Shards are the main currency, earned from new enemies in Overcharged Delves.
The Overcharged Console unlocks unique perks but only affects Overcharged runs.
The DISC Belt provides persistent power boosts and can be upgraded weekly.
Cosmetics like the OC91 Chariot and Redeployment Module add extra goals.
All progression can be done at delve level oneâno need to push high difficulty.
Conclusion: Dive In or Take It SlowâOvercharged Delves Are Worth It
WoW Patch 11.1.7: Legacy of Athor has added a new layer to endgame content with Overcharged Delves and the DISC Belt system. Whether you're the type to rush in and max out everything on day one or someone who prefers a slower pace, the design here supports both playstyles.
By combining flexible difficulty, consistent rewards, and no timegates on the console progression, Blizzard has delivered a system that feels optional but rewarding. The DISC Belt, in particular, stands out as one of the most valuable additions for long-term gearing and character strength.
If you haven't yet explored the Overcharged Delves in Legacy of Athor, nowâs a great time to start. The systems are easy to grasp, the grind is player-friendly, and the rewards are absolutely worth your time.

Where Can You Snorkel from the Beach on the Gold Coast?
The Gold Coast is renowned for its sun-kissed beaches, world-class surf, and vibrant marine life. While the region is often associated with scuba diving and offshore reef tours, there's also a growing interest in accessible beachside snorkeling. For those seeking the best places to snorkel Gold Coast without needing a boat or diving gear, several stunning coastal spots deliver unforgettable underwater experiences right off the shoreline.
Why Snorkel from the Beach on the Gold Coast?
Snorkeling from the beach offers a unique opportunity to explore the regionâs marine ecosystems with ease. It is cost-effective, requires minimal equipment, and is suitable for swimmers of all levels. The Gold Coastâs warm waters, excellent visibility, and protected marine areas make it an ideal destination for beach snorkeling.
Top Places to Snorkel Gold Coast â Directly from the Beach
1. The Seaway â Broadwater, Southport
One of the most popular places to snorkel Gold Coast, the Gold Coast Seaway offers an abundance of marine life and is easily accessible from the shore. Located at the northern end of Main Beach, this site features calm, clear waters and man-made rock walls that have become home to a rich array of sea creatures.
Expect to see tropical fish, rays, octopus, and even the occasional turtle. The eastern side of the Seaway is particularly good during incoming tides, which bring in clean ocean water and improve visibility.
2. Tallebudgera Creek
Tallebudgera Creek, situated between Burleigh Heads and Palm Beach, provides calm, shallow waters perfect for beginner snorkelers. The mouth of the creek offers a mix of sandy bottoms and rocky outcrops where small fish, crabs, and other marine species reside.
This is one of the safer places to snorkel Gold Coast for families and those looking for a relaxed underwater adventure close to amenities and patrolled beaches.
3. Currumbin Alley
Famed for its surf, Currumbin Alley also offers a surprising snorkeling experience. Near the rocky point and along the creek entrance, snorkelers can spot fish darting through rock pools and hiding in crevices. The protected nature of this area means waters are usually calm enough for casual snorkeling during low tide.
Due to its unique landscape and accessible entry points, Currumbin Alley is gaining popularity among locals as a hidden gem for beach snorkeling.
4. Wave Break Island (Beach Side Access)
Although many visitors reach Wave Break Island by kayak or tour, it is possible for strong swimmers to access the site from the shore via a short paddle or swim from The Spit. This location is one of the premier places to snorkel Gold Coast, known for its sheltered reef environment and diverse marine life.
Snorkelers can explore coral patches, sponge gardens, and see schools of fish in clear blue waters. The site is best visited during calm weather and slack tide for optimal visibility and safety.
Best Time to Snorkel on the Gold Coast
The Gold Coast enjoys a subtropical climate, making snorkeling possible year-round. However, the best conditions are typically from late spring through early autumn (October to April), when water temperatures are warmer and visibility is highest. Early morning is ideal, especially before the wind picks up and affects water clarity.
Tips for Snorkeling Safely
Always check tide times and weather conditions before entering the water.
Wear a rash guard or wetsuit to protect against sun and stingers.
Use reef-safe sunscreen to minimize environmental impact.
Snorkel with a buddy, especially in areas with strong currents.
Avoid standing on or touching marine life to preserve delicate ecosystems.

Was thinking about hippocampus reproduction again last night. Both sexes will raise offspring, though they usually prefer to be single parents. Hippocampus (campi?) are pretty solidary creatures, especially due to overhunting.
Their territories work like reverse bears or wolverines; with a female guarding a larger territory with many smaller male territories within it.
Males will give birth (oviviporous) to 2-4 offspring, usually raising twins solo or sharing litters with the female or fellow harem boys who didn't have any. Hippocampus aren't very competitive offspring wise, a side effect of their low population. Orphans are easily adopted.
Foals are born in hippocampus form and are very vulnerable. Males will give birth in remote ponds (those in europe and NA favour dams made by beavers) and will leave the newborn camouflaged in debris. Newborns have external gills like axolotls, adults lose them and the ability to breathe underwater.
Hippocampus are monotremes and feed young foals through milk patches on their chests. They feed above water, usually by beaching themselves or hauling themselves out of the water via logs/branches. Both sexes produce milk.
The lack of nipples are a way to tell a disguised hippocampus from an actual horse.
Once foals are about a month old, they can shapeshift and come onto land. Young foals will have scaled back halves and a small fishy tail.
Disguised hippocampus have been discovered due to their foals' appearances. When the population got extremely low in some regions, foals would be taken from their parents to be raised in captivity until they could be returned. Some waited until the foals were adults, and some until they could shapeshift better.
Though conservationists tried to return the right foal to the right parent, it was common to mix them up to deepen the gene pool in certain areas. Unfortunately, a lack of foresight lead to many remote populations being hybridized as a result
Outside of breeding seasons, this is when you'll see hippocampus be more social. Siblings and cousins will meet, foals will socialize, some adults may even move harems if they're impressed by their neighbour's foals.
It's not uncommon for parents to 'swap' offspring during this time too. Once the foals are better able to fight for themselves, harem leaders will take ALL of the foals off for a little fieldtrip, giving the fathers a break.
Sometimes a parent may run away during this time, abandoning their offspring. Actual abandonments are rare, but it's clear from observations some parents are not ready for the duty, or found they didn't like it. Historical records of sapient hippocampus speak of coastal nunneries and monasteries gaining new, strange members around breeding season. Most of these members are what we'd modernly refer to as asexual/aromantic. Homosexuality and same-sex bonding is common between hippocampus.
