Most Unhinged Dropout Cast Member Poll Bracket - FINAL RESULTS!

Alright, folks, that does it for this unhinged poll bracket! Our winner is (to, I'm sure, very few people's surprise) Ally Beardsley!!! There could not possibly be a more deserving person for such a title. Whether you know them best from their hilarious sketch performances from back in the days of CollegeHumor, their mind-boggling character choices on Dimension 20, their unwavering commitment to the bit in every Game Changer appearance, their stoner shenanigans on Paranoia, the bonkers stories from their actual real life shared on Dirty Laundry, or the very real psychological torment they inflict on both Grant O'Brien and us, the audience, in Total Forgiveness, I'm sure we can all agree that Ally Beardsley has never encountered a hinge in their whole damn life.

Also deserving of a big shout out right now are the winners of our two mini-brackets - Oscar Montoya, the most hinged cast member, and Jacob Wysocki, winner of our honorable mention mini-bracket - as well as, of course, our runner up, and therefore the winner of this bracket's Brennan Lee Mulligan Award, Vic Michaelis!

Now for some final poll stats for the whole bracket:

The poll with by far the most votes was our final poll between Vic and Ally, with 2,221 votes

The person who received the most votes in a single poll was, perhaps unsurprisingly, Ally in the final poll, with approximately 1,495 votes, which is more votes than any of the other polls received in total

Our most unanimous wins of the bracket were Lou and Erika who beat Murph and Raph respectively with about 93% of the votes in each of their polls

The closest poll was Emily against Brennan, in which Emily won with a mere 52% of the votes

Though it wasn't ultimately the closest poll, the semi-final between Emily and Vic was also very close, and was the only poll in the bracket that a) was tied for a while and b) switched who was in the lead after the first day of voting

Anyway, thank you all for voting in this bracket! I'd still be interested in doing a mini-bracket between cast members who weren't in these polls, but I need some submissions to do so, so please drop me an ask! Also, sorry for taking a while to get this post up, I've had a busy couple days, and I foolishly hadn't prepared victory images for Ally and Vic beforehand. Gail's Blorbo Showdown

On the contenders:

Jason Todd is Bruce Wayne's second adopted son and second Robin who very famously died via fandom poll, although the weapon of choice was the Joker beating him half to death and leaving him to die in an exploding warehouse in Ethiopia, which he kind of took personally. He does eventually come back to life as a full on villain called Red Hood, reclaiming an old name used the Joker, although he's eventually turned into an anti-hero (the disappointment is real). I have a crush on him. The murder is sexy, actually. I don't know what else to say, all of my thoughts about this man are utterly unhinged.

Jaskier (also known as Julian Alfred Pankratz, Viscount of Lettenhove) is a recurring character in the Netflix show The Witcher. He's a bard and a pretty damn good one at that, and basically Geralt's PR team to boot. He's played by Joey Batey who himself is a talented musician (check out The Amazing Devil, for real) and who gives the character that lil fruity vibe we all enjoy. I am talking specifically about the Netflix version, because I only managed to read one book and my computer can't run the games.

The Gilded Age's Broadway Divas: Amber Gray (Bea)

While her Hadestown co-star Patrick Page is terrorizing workers' unions (as per usual), and her Comet co-star Denée Benton is the star of this show, Amber Gray gets one scene where she's terrorized by white men. As a restaurant proprietress, Amber enjoys an elevated place in society, all things considered. For plot reasons, Amber cannot enjoy this victory. Instead she gets manhandled and probably assaulted. Justice for her.

Amber Gray has enjoyed an eclectic career in the off-Broadway and fringe theatre spaces before making her Broadway debut in Great Comet alongside Denée Benton. She also originated Laurie in the pre-Broadway run of that reimagined Oklahoma revival of 2018, and has been Persephone in every iteration of Hadestown. She left Hadestown in 2022 after several years to join the Daniel Craig Macbeth happing just across the street. This last year, she has performed in the benefit concert of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris in Tangier, and now delights audiences as the vapid and tech-obsessed Claudia Bursik-Zimmer in Sondheim's final musical, Here We Are playing at The Shed through mid-January.

Her character is only ever referred to as "Bea" by the white man who gets physical with her, and IMDb incorrectly attributes her character as the one she played in The Underground Railroad so I don't really know what we're doing here. God forbid HBO put end credits that list everyone and their characters.

#1: "Charming," Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 (2016)

Released as a series of music videos on the show's youtube channel, this staging of Amber Gray's solo number is not what happens in the show, but it's fun, and fabulous, and I was obsessed. Amber's signature growl can be heard across her discography.

Playing Countess Hélène Bezukova, a "Queen of Society," she attempts to woo Natasha (played by Denée Benton) on behalf of her brother in this homoerotic little number.

#2: "Our Lady of the Underground," Hadestown (2019)

In a jazzy, capitalist critique adaptation of the classic Hades/Persephone & Orpheus/Eurydice myths, Hadestown is quite possibly Tumblr's most recognizable musical based on all the best musical polls that completely disregard-- You know, I won't get into it here.

Hadestown is a great musical. I've seen it twelve times (which was probably seven times too many, but 2019 was a weird time for me). Amber Gray is a marvel as Persephone, the disillusioned lush of a wife to Patrick Page's Hades. She was nominated for a Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. And I'm not mad about who won, necessarily, but I would have cast my vote in Amber's box.

#3: Here We Are (2023)

Naysayers turn away because I loved Here We Are in all it's messy, unhinged, utterly deranged glory. With the death of Stephen Sondheim, it will never be fully finished, and the second act is almost entirely bereft of music, but I still consider the euphoria of sitting in that first preview audience and hearing the first notes of that music one of the best experiences I've ever had in a theatre.

As Claudia, Amber Gray is serving cunt and there is no other way to describe it. Now, I don't have the time nor the room to explain the plot of this show. Because of its style and lack of traditionally formatted songs, it's unlikely Here We Are will get a cast album, or that the score will become cabaret hits. Thus, we'll just have to work with the bootlegs I've clipped.

Also featured in the show is Tony-nominee Michaela Diamond, who played a non-speaking shopgirl in one scene during Gilded Age's first season.

Hello! I'm home sick and I'm bored and I've decided to entertain myself by making a poll bracket to determine who amongst the Dropout TV cast is the most unhinged!

Of course, however you choose to define "unhinged" in your voting is up to you, but some things I would consider are these: Do they occasionally (or frequently) behave in ways you've never seen another human being behave? Would they do or say absolutely anything to commit to a bit? When they appear on an episode of a Dropout show, is your first thought "oh dang, this is gonna be a WILD time?" If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, this person might just be a bit unhinged.

I have included 32 cast members to make a nice and tidy bracket - I apologize if you don't see someone you like, obviously there are WAY more than 32 people who at least semi-regulargly appear on Dropout. I did my best to pick a good bunch. The pair-ups are random so anyone can be pitted against anyone! I plan on posting 4 polls a day and each poll will last a week. Once round 1 polls are done I'll get started on round 2! The last thing I'll note before getting these polls started is that I have elected to omit Sam Reich from the running, because the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it's really unfair to pit anyone against the man who came up with Game Changer. Most Unhinged Dropout Cast Member Poll Bracket - Round 2!!!

Round 1 has officially wrapped up, and that can only mean one thing: time for even more polls! Thanks to everyone who has participated in my wacky li'l bracket so far, and I hope to see even more voters in the upcoming rounds! I also fully expect the decisions to only get more difficult from here, so buckle up!

Before moving on, I thought I'd share some fun stats from round 1:

The poll with the most votes in round 1 was Brian vs. Siobhan, with 1,133 votes

The contestant who received the most votes was Brennan, with approximately 1,026 votes

The most contentious poll was Siobhan (57%) vs Brian (43%)

The most unanimous poll was Lou (93.4%) vs Murph (6.6%)

The winners of this round received, on average, 80% of the votes in their polls

Also, there's just a quick thing I'd like to clarify before round 2: though I envisioned these polls as primarily judging people on their behavior in Dropout content, I understand that many of you might know some contestants from outside of Dropout, and obviously I can't expect you to ignore that when deciding how to cast your votes. Also, just in general, I have no control whatsoever about how anyone is voting in this, and as I said before round 1, the criteria you choose to judge people on are really up to you. What I do have control over, however, is what I post. So I've decided, in the interest of keeping this blog on theme, that going forward I will only post or reblog propaganda that primarily features Dropout content (if you want to throw in a little external recommendation, that's fine, but any videos, images, gifs, or specific quotes or stories should come from Dropout). Hope that clears things up a bit!

Alright folks, time to start thinking about which cast members have "senses of humor that regularly make you feel like you're going insane," (quote from @narcissistcookbook) or frequently get "that insane glint in their eye of a door that has fully lost contact with the adjacent wall" (quote from @cloudprincesslady), because it is time for round 2, baby!!!!

Most Unhinged Dropout Cast Member Poll Bracket - Round 3!!!

Alright, that's all for round 2, so it's time to move into our quarterfinals! At this point we are down to 8 truly batshit individuals. Still in the running, we have chaotic spouses, Brennan Lee Mulligan and Izzy Roland; absolute masters of both straight-facedness and total madness, Vic Michaelis and Katie Marovitch; DnD players who live to baffle Brennan, Emily Axford and Erika Ishii; and a showdown between both halves of the nightmare fuel that was Total Forgiveness, Grant O'Brien and Ally Beardsley.

But before we move onto this round, some factoids about Round 2:

The poll with the most votes in round 2 was Emily Axford vs. Lou Wilson, with 1273 votes

The contestant who received the most votes was Grant O'Brien, with approximately 913 votes

The most contentious poll was Emily Axford (53%) vs Lou Wilson (47%)

The most unanimous poll was Erika Ishii (93%) vs Raph Chestang (7%)

The winners of this round received, on average, 76% of the votes in their polls

I'm gonna be honest, this is the first round where I'm genuinely stumped on how I'm gonna vote on some of these, so I thought I'd share with you a question I've found myself asking a lot as I think about how to vote, which is: is unhinged behavior a choice for this person, or is it as natural to them (and difficult to stop) as breathing? Follow-up question: Are they always aware when they're being unhinged, or do they regularly do things that would boggle the average mind as though it was the only reasonable thing to do? Just some food for thought. As ever, vote based on whatever criteria happen to float your boat!

Most Unhinged Dropout Cast Member Poll Bracket - Semi-Finals!!!

Round 3, our most contentious round yet, has reached its close, and we have our four semi-finalists! Still in the running are Izzy Roland, Emily Axford, Ally Beardsley, and Vic Michaelis, and, frankly, I don't think this group has even a single hinge between them, so this next round's gonna be a close one. Looking at my own predictions for the bracket, I'm doing pretty well at this point, though I'll admit I thought Erika might still be with us for the semi-finals (I'd marked that one "unsure," though, since I thought it was a pretty close call between them and Izzy). That said, I don't think there's a single person who's made it this far in this silly little competition who hasn't earned it through some truly outlandish behavior, and that, after all, is what this bracket is all about!

Before our semi-finals commence, some information on round 3:

The poll with the most votes in round 3 was Emily Axford vs. Brennan Lee Mulligan, with 1,180 votes

The contestant who received the most votes was Ally Beardsley, with approximately 795 votes

The most contentious poll (of the entire bracket so far!) was Emily Axford (52%) vs Brennan Lee Mulligan (48%), closely followed by Katie Marovitch (47%) vs. Vic Michaelis (53%)

The most unanimous poll was Ally Beardsley (79%) vs Grant O'Brien (21%)

The winners of this round received, on average, 61% of the votes in their polls, making this (unsurprisingly, as we weed out the most hinged folks) our closest round yet

Looking forward to our semi-finals, I will say that, while I still have my predictions written down and think I may very well be correct, I am not at all confident on who I think is going to be entering that final face-off. At this point we're really down to some wacky people who have each made me laugh out loud (in surprise as much as amusement) too many times to count, and any one of them could be deserving of the title of most unhinged. Can't wait to see who you think is the most deserving of it!
