A Breif Hiatus, but Don't Panic
Tumblr media
I don't remember how candid I've been on here about why I started making this game, but BRACE YOURSELVES under the cut for all the hot gossip** ** The hot gossip is not very hot.
I've been making webcomics of questionable quality for around 15 years and short comics for clients since about 2018, but in 2020 I realised how much I was itching to make a longer graphic novel for middle grade readers, and that I would like to have a go at traditional publishing.
I had a fair amount of success, in the sense that I got an agent, and I ended up in various aquisitions meetings. Film and television rights got discussed with lawyers. Editorial teams were put in place. But things always fell through at the last minute (mostly when marketing people got involved), and along with the success were plenty of occassions where editors would come back and say my art wasn't of professional quality which knocked my already-shaky confidence. I also felt strongly under scrutiny, because even silly doodles I did for funsies and posted on social media were coming under scrutiny by editors and publishers.
Over two years I made four different pitch packets for four different stories, around 30 pages of sample comic pages, and as thing stand nobody will ever see them.
That's rough, for a storyteller.
I started The Beekeeper's Picnic as a diversion, something self-indulgant and creative, not a comic, not my characters, so it didn't push the anxiety buttons. It's been a consolation prize for myself when things didn't work out. That deal fell through? Oh well, at least now I can keep working on the game.
Problem is I've almost been enjoying it too much, and I've let the graphic novel dream entirely fall by the wayside. I've realised that I shouldn't give up, and it would be worth spending a month/six weeks sprucing up my pitch packets and shopping them around again.
SO I'm going to spend until the end of April doing that.
I won't vanish though, and I do have a fun game related thing I'd like to share in a couple of weeks :D
You guys have all been so lovely and supportive, I'm sure it's part of the reason I feel strong enough to go through this again is because you've done such a great job at building me up and making me feel good about my art again.

🌿🌱 Mokutone Masterpost 🌱🌿
Hi! Welcome. This post will function sort of as a FAQ and will be updated as such. You don't need to read it, but if you've had these questions, here are my answers:
"Do you take Commissions?"
Not yet! I do, however, have a Ko-fi, where I'll do some little thank-you doodles!
"Do you have a shop?"
No, not at the moment! I am considering it though...
"What materials do you use?"
By far the questions I get asked the most are about this, so this will get very long and I'm going to put it under a readmore. I will address the papers, inks, watercolors, dip pens, brushes, and other materials that I have used.
I also answer questions about my materials under the "my ninja tools and scrolls" tag, and give art technique advice under the "my jutsu" tag. Yes it's silly, but this is a Naruto art blog. this is what we all signed up for.
Mostly, this will be a list of my traditional materials. I will address the paper, pens, inks, and various types of watercolor that I use!
📄 PAPERS: 📄
—Strathmore 400 Series Heavyweight Drawing Pads 100lb/163gsm. (these numbers refer to the weight/thickness of the paper. thicker paper is less likely to buckle) ———> This paper is extremely cheap (a 9"/12" pad is often under 10 dollars), takes inks EXCELLENTLY, but it's a much lighter paper, and it will buckle under watercolor. For this paper, it's good to only paint small sections, to paint very slowly, or to paint with the paper taped down to another surface.
—Fabriano Hot Press (Hot Press means the paper is smooth, not rough) Watercolor Paper, 140lb/300 gsm ———> I use this paper the most because it's fairly cheap to buy in bulk, while still being good enough quality that my picky watercolor teacher approved it, Lol. I can usually find a 9"/12" block of it with 50 pages for about $20 if i look hard enough—and the paper is hardy enough that if I'm careful, I can paint on both front and back of the paper. Bad for archival purposes maybe, but great for having fun and not spending more money. [Example]
—Vision Cold Press (Meaning the paper is rough and textured) Watercolor Paper, 140lb/300 gsm ———> My watercolor teacher said this stuff was garbage, but...I don't really care! It is DIRT CHEAP and YES it buckles a little despite being thick, and YES it feels like cardboard in your hand, and YES it ONLY comes in coldpress, but the texture is grainy and even and nice... and like. when I say dirt cheap I mean dirt cheap. I used to get the 6"/9" 30 page pad for like 6 or 7 bucks. [Example]
—Arches Watercolor Pad/Block, Hot Press, 140lb/300 gsm ———> This is that expensive shit. I got a pad of it for a class back in college, and I dip into it now and again—I also bought a little bit more when there was a sale recently, a 12 page. It's 100% cotton, and it takes pigment based watercolor REALLY well, but it's not so good about dye based (I'll discuss the difference between those later) [Example]
🎨 WATERCOLORS: 🎨
DYE BASED:
Dye based watercolors, because they are based in dyes instead of pigments, are not lightfast. They are not archival. If you expose them to sunlight, they will begin to fade, and some will fade rapidly. That said, if you hoard your art in a dark place once you've documented, go hog wild! The fact that they're all liquid already makes them really easy to use.
—Ecoline Watercolor [Liquid] ———> These are a little watery, but they are cheap and easy, and I used them for the majority of my early watercolor art on this blog!
— Dr. Ph. Martin's Radiant Concentrated Watercolors [Liquid] ———> They are expensive, and sold in small quantities. They are, however very bright, like that label isn't lying! They're super concentrated! I have not actually run out of any of the ones that I bought (at a store closing sale bc otherwise they're too expensive lol) because they only use a small amount at a time
— Dr. Ph. Martin's Synchromatic Transparent Watercolors [Liquid] ———> They are also expensive, and also sold in small quantities. They aren't really made for paper either. They're fine. Probably not worth it though!
PIGMENT BASED:
—Black Sheep Art Supply's Pans And Half Pans! [solid watercolor] ———> These have been very enjoyable for me to work with!! They're very bright, affordably priced, and the paints are from a small business, as well as being handmade and from the first Black-owned art supply store. I've had wonderful experiences ordering from this store, and I wholeheartedly recommend them!
[EDIT: apparently the shop is on a break or something! oh well]
—Dr. Ph. Martin's Hydrus [liquid watercolor] ———> These are liquid watercolors, like the dyes, but they are archival and somewhat light-fast, which means they can be exposed to moderate amounts of sunlight without fading. I haven't gotten to use them much yet, but they seem fine. You do have to shake them a lot to mix the pigment in. They can also be a little difficult to rewet, and may appear somewhat flaky.
—Turner Professional Artists' Watercolors [tube/semi liquid] ———> These are watercolors stored in tubes, you know, the traditional way! I used these for class, back in college. They're cheap, but well pigmented as far as cheap watercolors go. If you're really on a tight budget, this is probably the best pick.
—Holbein Artist' Water Color [tube/semi liquid] ———> My best friend (the one who got me into naruto!) gave these to me! Usually they can be very expensive. They're very high quality, and gorgeous. I'm so enamored with them and touched by the gesture that I use them very rarely, I don't want to lose them! They're special to me!
✒️ INKS: 🖋️
I only use permanent inks which will not bleed (much) when water is applied, due to working in watercolor. This list will reflect that
—Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay Black India Ink ———> I use this the most frequently. It's a little shiny, but not too bad, and it is completely waterproof once dried. Of the Ph. Martin inks, it's the cheapest by far, and a 1oz bottle (which lasts me months) can be found for about $5. —Dr. Ph. Martin's Black Star (Matte) Ink ———> Very waterproof, does not shine much at all. If you record your art with photography rather than scanning, this may be useful to you! Unfortunately, it's about $10 a bottle. —Dr. Ph. Martin's Black Star (Hi-Carb) Ink ———> Very waterproof, very shiny. I don't use this much because I don't like my ink to shine, but it can be very nice with the right application. Unfortunately, it's also about $10 a bottle.
—Yatsumoto Sumi Ink ———> you can get this stuff cheap. Like, you could get a 12oz bottle of it for like $12. That's very cheap. Unfortunately it's not completely waterproof, and if you agitate (rub the brush vigorously) over the ink, it may seep into the watercolors. If you're careful though, this won't be a huge problem. It's also good for ink-only work.
—Liquitex Acrylic Ink ———> This is also very waterproof, but it also takes longer to dry than the other inks, so I find myself smudging it a lot. It's also about $7 for a 1oz bottle, but about $20 for a 5oz bottle, so if you're committed to the ink, it can be cheap to buy in larger sizes.
—Diamine Registrar's Blue-Black Ink ———> Expensive. Really more of an interesting find than a practical ink for me. This is mostly waterproof, but a very thin ink, and you can feel the nib get scratchier when drawing with it. That's not a bad thing, it's just a textural thing. It's produced in a similar way to medieval inks, with iron and oak-galls, and because of this it has some interesting properties: When first applied to paper, it's a pale or sky blue, but it darkens rapidly as it dries, becoming almost black over time. It runs the rusk of corroding metal pen nibs due to its chemical makeup, and so nibs which use this must be washed extra thoroughly.
✍️ PEN NIB HOLDERS: ✍️
—Speedball Sketching Pen Set: ———> Easiest to get your hands on. Comes with two nib-holders and 6 different nibs to try out, available at most art stores, and usually around $10. It's also not bad quality—I don't use the tiny little nib-holder any more, but I use the standard black one all the time.
—Tachikawa Comic Pen Nib Holder, Model 40/ Model 36 ———> My Favorite. Thank god it has a little rubbery thing around it, because I grip pens hard 😭. It is able to hold standard-size AND small-size nibs. Occasionally, I find that some "standard-size" nibs might not fit, but I've never had this issue with the small size nibs.
Honestly, those are my favorites, but it's really hard to go wrong with pen nib holders. If they fit comfortably in your hand, and they hold a nib, they're good!
🖋 NIBS: ✒️
Nibs are difficult to acquire. They can be expensive too.
— Speedball ———> If you want to get a variety of nibs to experiment, this is my first recommendation. They have a wide variety of nibs to experiment, and find out what your favorites are.
—Tachikawa Pen Nibs ———> They've got less robust options than Speedball, and a little more expensive too, but they're very good nibs! The G-Nib is the standard nib used in comic making, and especially for lettering. It's a very stiff little nib, so it doesn't flex too much. This makes it pretty reliable, and especially good for lettering/writing.
—Manuscript Leonardt Pen Nibs ———> A lot of options for everything from caligraphy to cartography to sketching, also a little expensive—what is notable is that their pen nibs tend to be on the more flexible side, allowing the artist to get a lot of line weight variance. This is bad for lettering, but fun for drawing! They also have pens shaped like hands. Neat.
—Brause Pen Nibs ———> These were always super expensive where I was. I got a few. They come in this dorky plastic case with a sliding top, and I kinda wish they didn't bc that's a whole lotta plastic for something that coulda been stored in cardboard or paper, lol. I now use the cases to hold perfume samples. They're good pens, they're just expensive and the packaging is dumb.
—Whatever the hell is on Etsy. ———> People love to sell vintage things on etsy, and pen nibs are no exception. Often, you can find random samplers of pen nibs, or collections of pen nibs for sale. Sometimes you can find a whole box of one kind of pen nib, often times with a lot of nibs in it. I once bought one of these for like $45 and i don't even regret it because it's got a shitton of nibs and I realllly like using them. It will literally last me the rest of my life.
🖌 Brushes: 🖌
I don't have a lot to say about brushes! Ultimately, if it makes a mark on paper, and you like the mark it makes...I think that's a good brush.
I've been told you should go for ones which hold a shape, I think, and don't spread out in a big puff. Ones which use animal hairs are apparently best, but they are also very expensive. Generally, with watercolors, you will want to use "round" brushes, especially for beginners. If you want to experiment, I recommend Filberts, but there are also sword/dagger brushes if you're painting something like grass. Mostly I use:
—Creative Mark Mimik Kolinsky: ———> As the name implies, these are meant to mimic (synthetically) brushes made from Kolinsky fur. These are nice and I like them. They're cheap, but hold their shape well, and feel good in the hand. —Creative Mark Mimik High Performance Synthetic Squirrel Hair Watercolor Brushes: ———> What a name. I find these to be just as good for me as the Mimik Kolinsky, but a little bit cheaper. As long as ur careful not to treat them too roughly you'll be fine.
—Princeton Watercolor Brushes ———> Good. Expensive, but good. They have a variety of synthetic + natural materials, they are well made, if you have a little money to throw around + want a brush which will preform very well but will not destroy your bank, this is a solid brand. I've used ones from their Velvetouch, Mini-Detailer, and Heritage collections before, and enjoyed them all very much.
Additional Supplies:
—Porcelain Palette ———> I highly recommend using a porcelain palette instead of a plastic palette, both because I like to cut down on plastic when I can, and because the porcelain palettes are just....so much more convenient. The glass-like coating means that they will be easier to clean, whereas all of my plastic palettes over the years have gotten permanent stains. They're a little harder to accidentally knock around because they're heavier, which probably isn't a problem for most people, but I can be kinda clumsy. I can't tell u the number of times I've sent a full plastic circle-palette of watercolors flying lol

Juice book update on 2024-03-13 I'm putting this thing together. I'm adding in the unused drafts, alternate dialogue, and juice-related doodles. And now I have a question for you, dear reader: Do you prefer the scan or the typed version? Can you even read the scan? I'm considering various proportions between the extremes of 100% scans and 100% typed. (The attached sample scan is about in the middle of the pack in scan quality and legibility, I think.)

Did you miss my Unitized AU?
Well, I got bored at school, I had a pencil and a notebook, and I just ended up drawing a bunch of headcannons for Xander.
What can I say? I love the guy.
And I kind of want him to suffer. Is that weird?
Tumblr media
(Sorry for the poor quality - I don't usually do traditional art nowadays.)
That drawing of Kit and Xander in the upper left hand corner was supposed to be the only doodle, but it all went downhill from there.
1+2: Xander is the self-defined "big brother" of the group, so he was the automatic target for emotional abuse from Unitize. They would tell him that his teammates were singing like canaries, but when he didn't believe that, they told him that they would start hurting his teammates if he didn't start giving them information about their Elemental Powers. Though the thought of any pain coming to his team pained him, he decided to put his faith in his brothers and kept his mouth shut.
But when Unitize couldn't pressure him, they decided to torture him. They would insult him, degrade him, tell him he was a horrible teammate, the works. Along with torturing him emotionally, they would torture him, along with his teammates, physically. They would take regular skin grafts from them, place implants in their temples, take blood samples from various places on their bodies, test their reactions under stressful conditions… and they rarely used painkillers.
Xander was suffering, the entire team was, but they refused to break.
When Unitize decided to freeze them in vengestone, that’s when Xander decided enough was enough. He fought back with everything he had, but Unitize was eventually able to freeze him along with the others. To ensure his Element would never escape, officials took him to a Unitize outpost in the polar ice caps and buried him deep within a glacier below sea level.
Xander remained there for about a hundred and fifty years until Kit tirelessly researched his location and broke him out with a few members of their team. However, his mind was still stuck in the frenzied state that he’d been in when he was frozen, and he flew into a blind rage when he was released, attacking everything and everyone in sight. It took a little time and a few bruises, but they were eventually able to calm him down. When he realized that they were finally free from Unitize, and that he himself had almost hurt them in his rage, he broke down crying and tried apologizing for everything that had happened up to that point.
They don’t blame him, though. They never blamed him.
3+4: The first two things Xander does when he’s reunited with the rest of his family back at UA is hug them, check them over for any lasting injuries, then hug them again. He’d thought that he would never see them again and Unitize kept promising that they were hurting them, so now that they’re reunited, he’s desperate to know if they’re okay. The others try to ask him if he’s okay, but he waves off every question. They’re his priority.
I showed him checking over Yugo for reasons I will not get into.
5. Xander is exhausted. Everyone on the team is, thanks to Unitize’s abuse. Only problem is every time they go to sleep, chances are they’re going to have a nightmare. Xander’s are more frequent and twice as bad, so he needs constant physical comfort in order to help him ride it out. Everyone is happy to help, because the comfort helps them, too.
6. While Unitize was interested in probing nearly every other square inch of their bodies, they didn’t really care about their hair. They didn’t give them dramatic haircuts or anything; the more uncomfortable they were, the more entertaining for the scientists. Though even after they were free from Unitize, none of them really felt the need to cut their hair for some odd reason. Nothing a classic ponytail can’t fix, though.
I kind of love Xander with a ponytail, not gonna lie.
Page 2:
Tumblr media
(I gave up on shading halfway down the page.)
7. Xander was always happy to give his teammates rides on his shoulders. Even before Unitize, they got his rides down to an exact science:
Step 1: Stand next to him. Make sure that you’re standing in front and to the side of him.
Step 2: Put your arms on his forearm so he knows what you want.
Step 3: Hold on to his arm TIGHT, because he will start lifting it up and over his head, which will eventually flip you around (I think - the physics are kind of iffy on that one).
Step 4: Position yourself on his shoulders and enjoy the view.
It happens so often that he’s memorized the calluses of every single one of his teammates. He doesn’t even look down when they tug on his arm for a lift - won’t break his stride if he’s walking, won’t even break eye contact if he’s having a conversation with someone. Just up and over his head so his family can join in on whatever he’s doing.
He used to get annoyed whenever he got numerous requests for rides in a day, though after Unitize, he enjoys the rides almost as much as those he gives them to. Some part of him still can’t believe that they’re all really here, that they’re really free after being on the run for so long; he’ll have long moments during the day where he’ll just stop moving and try to comprehend the whole thing. But if he feels one of his teammates on his shoulders, it helps reassure him that this is real. That they’re safe.
8. The free rides also come in handy whenever they have to study for anything. Dual study partners!
9. I read somewhere that Ukyo is considered to be Xander’s hair stylist, so I’d like to think that whenever Xander gives him a ride, he returns the favor by cleaning his hair while he’s up there. It gets really messy, for whatever reason…
10. Even Lui enjoys getting rides from Xander, though he will bite off the arm of whoever points it out. He claims that it’s comfortable up there. That’s the only reason. Or so he claims…
11. That doesn’t mean that Xander gives out free rides to everyone; only those that he cares for. If someone else asks for one, he either straight up ignores them or tells them “no”. The only one not in his family that he willingly gives rides to is Eri. People who frequently ask for rides, like Denki, ask him why, and his only answer is “Because I know what she went through.”
They enjoy apples together. They just do.
12. Xander’s personality also differs depending on who he’s talking to on UA campus. If he’s talking to someone who’s been known to cause trouble for his teammates, like Neito or Katsuki, he comes off as very aggressive and angry. If given the proper incentive, he will gladly throw down for his teammates.
If he’s talking to someone who’s been known to help his teammates, however, like Hanta, he recognizes them as allies and respects them. He still comes off as passive aggressive, though.
I honestly don’t know why I’m still making headcannons about this AU…

Top 5 Content Marketing Trends In 2023
Tumblr media
As the criticality of content creation on the web is increasing, it is surely one of the most important paths of the future for online businesses. We can vouch that creating quality content will win all the digital marketing laurels. Refer to this blog as a guide for the top 5 content marketing trends in 2023.
1. User-Generated Content (UGC):
Statistics say, 85% of consumers consider UGC more influential compared to brand content. Before we dig deep into UGC, let us understand what it means. User-generated content is any form of content that is created and shared by contributors/customers. Very often, these customers are loyal fans of the brand who do not mind advertising on behalf of the brand and hence are not paid for what they do. UGC can be in various forms be it blogging, sharing infographics, social media posts and testimonials. A great example of UGC is Starbucks. In 2014, Starbucks cheered its customers and got them to draw some artistic doodle on their white cups. This was a creative contest for them on Twitter under the hashtag #WhiteCupContest. Starbucks dint stop there, they also declared that the winning white cup drawing would be used as a limited edition template for the cup design of Starbucks. This got everyone excited and it received a tremendous response with around 4000 drawn cups. The next question is, How can you design engaging UGC’s for your brand? You need to get into your audience’s shoes to identify what they like to do and share. So get your thinking caps on and be unique, that’s the only way to stand out.
2. Visual Content:
Do you know? More than 500 million hours of videos are watched on YouTube each day. The most popular platforms where teens hang out, Its Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat. You would rather prefer to watch a video than read a book. To add to this, the modern audience continuously expects to receive video content from their favorite brands, and it’s a proven fact that video keeps your audience engaged for longer than any other type of content. Besides, there was an 81% leap in people who watched videos in 2016 than in 2015. How do we do this? You can create video content in several ways. Like clues from culture videos, behind the scenes shots, etc. If you sell products machines probably a demo on how to use it works, whereas if your a service provider grab your camera to a loyal customer and ask for a short testimonial video. Ensure your video isn’t too long, we all have lower attention spans and are looking for quick solutions.
3. Podcasting:
Podcasting is a free audio service that grants permission to Internet users to pull audio files (typically MP3 format) from a podcasting Web site to listen to. This can be done through their computers, mobile phones or personal digital audio players. Can you guess where this term got its inspiration from? Any resemblance to Apple’s iPod? Yes, it’s an amalgamation of iPod and broadcasting. Reports say that the number of podcast listeners has tripled within the last decade and this number is envisaged to continue growing with time. For a fact, there’s a clear lookout for audio content on the web, you need to get your brand up there. We recommend your brand to cover niche topics and not broad ones, unlike others. This can contribute to focused marketing and help your brand gain credibility within its field of expertise.
4. Data-driven content:
Digital Marketing experts say that sooner or later, data-driven content will move up the ladder leaving storytelling behind. Not only is the data going to be used to launch a creative ‘big idea’ in an effective way, but also more widespread use of data to personalize content or offers. We can rightfully say, that Data-driven content is here for good. When Data, technology, and marvelous storytelling work hand in hand they push brands into a whole new territory of high customer engagement.
5. Quality Over Quantity:
When it comes to writing content for your digital marketing strategy, quality supersedes quantity and makes your brand stand above the rest in competition. We live in a time where transparency is expected, and consumers are continuously thriving for authenticity. Consistency and quality are the two backbones of any successful content. Also, we recommend not to overwhelm your audience by posting content too often. Give them space and time to digest one content piece then show them further.
To take advantage of this newly crafted content marketing trend, just follow the data. Identify the content that your audience marvels at and create more of that type of content to keep them happy. You’ll get better at this once you keep yourself in their shoe.

How to Create 2D Graphics for Games?
Tumblr media
Introduction
If you have a question like “How to Create 2D Graphics for Games?” then this article is for you. 2D game graphics are visuals used in video games that exist on a two-dimensional plane. Unlike 3D graphics, which have depth and perspective, 2D graphics are flat and lack depth perception. Importance of Quality 2D Graphics in Games Quality 2D graphics play a crucial role in enhancing the visual appeal and overall gaming experience. They help convey the game's narrative, evoke emotions, and immerse players in captivating virtual worlds. Overview of Popular 2D Game Art Styles - Monochromatic: Uses a single color or shades of a single color for the entire artwork. - Pixel Art: Utilizes small, square pixels to create intricate designs and characters. - Vector Art: Relies on mathematical equations to render smooth, scalable graphics. - Cutout Art: Features flat, stylized artwork with visible cutout edges. - Doodle Art: Characterized by hand-drawn, whimsical sketches and illustrations.
Different 2D Game Art Styles
Monochromatic Art Monochromatic art employs a single color palette to create visually striking compositions. Games like "Limbo" and "Badland" showcase the atmospheric and minimalist appeal of monochromatic art.
Tumblr media
Pixel Art Pixel art utilizes tiny square pixels to form detailed images and animations. Popularized by games like "Minecraft" and "Stardew Valley" pixel art exudes retro charm and nostalgia.
Tumblr media
Vector Art Vector art comprises geometric shapes and lines that can be resized without losing quality. Games such as "Angry Birds" and "Monument Valley" leverage vector graphics for their clean and scalable visuals.
Tumblr media
Cutout Art Cutout art features flat, paper-like characters and environments with distinct outlines. Titles like "Paper Mario" and "Cuphead" showcase the vibrant and stylized nature of cutout art.
Tumblr media
Doodle Art Doodle art embraces a free-form and whimsical drawing style, often resembling sketches in a notebook. Games like "Doodle Jump" and "Scribblenauts" exhibit the playful and imaginative essence of doodle art.

Step-by-Step Guide to Creating 2D Game Graphics
- Preparing for Artwork Creation: Before diving into artwork creation, it's essential to understand the game's requirements and the preferences of the target audience. Selecting a suitable art style based on the game's theme and genre is paramount for cohesive visual storytelling. - Conceptualizing and Sketching: Start by developing concept art for characters, environments, and props through iterative sketching and feedback loops. This process allows for the exploration of various design ideas and ensures alignment with the game's artistic vision. - Digital Art Creation: Utilize tools and software tailored for 2D game artwork, such as Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, or Aseprite. Create characters, backgrounds, and objects with attention to detail and consistency in art style. - Optimization and Integration: Optimize artwork for performance by adhering to file size limitations and resolution requirements. Ensure seamless integration of art assets into game engines, maintaining compatibility across different platforms and devices.
Common Mistakes to Avoid in 2D Game Graphics

For the artist ask meme: 3, 7, 8, 24
This turned pretty image heavy, so it's under a readmore.
3. Show us your oldest piece of art you have on hand.
The truly oldest thing I have is a couple scribbles I made at the ripe old age of one years old. But those are what you could expect a literal baby to draw so there's no point in showing them. But as for something more intreresting I have this one I drew at 5 years old.
Piglet is copied from some book, no clue which one though. Oh and, I'm not doxxing myself, Anna isn't my name so I'm not really sure why that's written there. It might be drawn for some family friend?
Tumblr media
As a bonus, I can also give one of my oldest digital drawings for a little "better" quality. This was done I think at age 11, or something close to it.
Tumblr media
7. Show us at least one picture you drew or sketched recently that you did not put on a public site.
Private discord counts as not public right? Yes good. So. These were some various doodles done during Blight_Vondrake's Spiritfarer stream.
Tumblr media
As a bonus, here's a Silika I think I haven't shown anywhere:
Tumblr media
8. What is your favourite piece that you have done?
Ohh tough question. I think I'd say this one, it's got a nice atmosphere and there's not much that I'd actually go back and change about it.
Tumblr media
24. Do you have a shameful art past? (recolour sprite comics, tracing art, etc.)
Ohh shoot. Yeah. Character copies are my biggest sin, though I also did trace every now and then though I think I only posted one or two of those ever. Also using googled images for backgrounds bc copyright who.

Some SSS Doodles
1] I thought it might be nice for Toni to be a little taller than Mags. ^^ I really enjoy the contrast between their silhouettes; why not heighten it?
3] My first Star Dream/Mother Computer gijinka, and I love her…! இ௰இ Unfortunately, she is still evil…I’m not yet sure how big of a role she will have in the story, but she is confirmed to appear in at least one chapter. Mother hopes you will like her when the time comes~
5] …I’m not going to say who this character is; I want you to guess. ^^ This is a challenge for the diehard Kirby fans out there…although I think her design alone contains enough clues for the average fan to guess what she is, even if they’ve never heard of her.
2] I really like to think about food systems and production, and I hope to actually work in the industry someday (it’s one of the reasons I majored in biochemistry). But until then, I’m going to live out my dreams through fictional situations like this-- welcome to the first installment of the Green Zone Culinary Digest! :D
Today we’re going to cover some basic vending-machine fare, which actually makes up a large portion of the inhabitants’ diet. Due to resource scarcity, it tends to taste fairly bland; relying heavily on color, texture, and design to make it appealing. Small amounts of normal foodstuffs are mixed into…questionably-sourced fillers, to create these cheap products.
2a] Cheese Eyes were the first snack I came up with for this AU-- it’s such a fun name~. This is a simple potato-based snack, which actually does not contain any form of cheese.
2b] Fishbones are a corn-based snack, with a savory flavor that’s difficult to describe. The general consensus is that they taste like chicken.
2c] The HWC-CNC: Haltmann Works Co. Complete Nutrition Cube~. This is a muffin-sized, heavily-fortified snack created to prevent nutritional deficiencies. It comes in various flavors and textures depending on what’s most available; every batch is something new. Most batches include at least one psychoactive compound, to encourage people to keep eating them.
4a] Leftover water from boiling and processing the savory snacks in Section 2 is mixed with fillers and sweeteners to create the somewhat-dairy-based “smoothie”, Rainbow Parfait Wing! Also comes in Chocolate and Butterscotch flavor.
4b] Leftover solids are squished together to create the Vascular Marshmallow, a mysterious snack that includes added fats and protein powders. It’s not very popular, but it has a sort of cult following.
4c] Pep Brew is the liquid counterpart of the CNC’s, a vitamin-fortified drink with lots of flavors (used to mask the unpleasant taste of the water). This is the only thing most of the inhabitants drink on a regular basis; drinking from home faucets is not recommended.
4d] Beanbons are a snack similar to anpan, and consist of the most high-quality food you can get in this price range. Rice and wheat flour-based cakes are baked and filled with a salty paste made from beans and insect proteins. Sweet varieties include real corn syrup and any edible seeds.

Also Colin/Jan/Richard if your anon hasn't already asked it yet
ot3 for life <3
Who accidentally pushes a door instead of pulling/vice versa
Colin most often, but also Richard when he’s not paying attention.
Who doodles little hearts all over the desk with their initials inside them
Richard!!! Not just on the desk either. He doodles on the bathroom stalls, on the cafeteria tables, on all the coaches’ whiteboards, on the fence surrounding the stadium, even on some of the football balls. He manages to get heart shaped doodles on Higgins’ and Rebecca’s desk too.
Who starts the tickle fights
All three of them at various points. Mostly whoever is feeling the most affectionate in the moment.
Who starts the pillow fights
Colin, but technically Jan. Jan finds quality entertainment in getting under Colin’s skin just enough for Colin to start ruthlessly hitting Jan with a pillow.
Who falls asleep last, watching the other with a small affectionate smile
Jan. He loves being the last one to fall asleep as Colin and Richard are cuddled up into him, it makes him feel both comforted and important.
Who mistakes salt for sugar
Jan. At first it was an honest mistake but then certain a Welshman who shall remain nameless started playing pranks on him.
Who lets the microwave play the loud beeping sound at 1am in the morning
Colin. He doesn’t even care if he wakes anyone up, if he wants to eat, he’s eating.
Who comes up with cheesy pick up lines
Richard. Colin and Jan don’t even notice how cheesy they are at first because Richard is just so smooth.
Who rearranges the bookshelf in alphabetical order
Jan. He likes the organization and neatness of it.
Who licks the spoon when they’re baking brownies
Richard who then goes around and makes everyone take a lick from the spoon.
Who buys candles for dinners even though there’s no special occasion
Richard. He is the king of romance and sometimes he just wants to pick up candles and have a quiet and lovely evening.
Who draws little tattoos on the other with a pen
Colin. While Richard will doodle his affection on every desk and other solid surface possible, Colin loves to doodle on Jan and Richard’s arms, and backs, and especially on the skin above their hearts.
Who comes home with a new souvenir magnet every time they go on vacation
Jan. He likes looking at their fridge and seeing a collection of all the places they’ve been together.
Who convinces the other to fill out those couple surveys in the back of magazines
Jan does one absentmindedly one day and when Richard catches him out, he gets sucked in to doing them all the time.
send me a ship and i’ll answer these questions
