i really dont understand vegan's concern for bug suffering honestly. like i can get that you see a cow and, given the size of its brain and what not, there might be a conciousness there worth protecting. but bugs??? if there is any creature in creation im willing to bet my life on them just being purely biological mechanisms with zero self awareness it would be bugs, surely

Saw someone say they now put bugs outside because ever since becoming a gardener, they realise how usefull bugs are.
That's all good and well. I'm glad they're not killing bugs anymore, but can we stop acting as if beings only deserve to live if they're useful?
You do not have to serve a purpose to be deserving of life. Your purpose is to simply *be*

it’s such a big pet peeve of mine when cooks get pissy about having to cook around dietary restrictions… like this is ur job! get creative! it’s an opportunity to try something new! ur telling me u can’t think of a SINGLE good dish without meat that’s not a salad?? u can’t come up with something delicious that doesn’t have dairy??? fuck u gordon ramsey for telling everyone vegan food is stupid. it’s such a lazy mindset.

it breaks my heart when people only want to save animals because of how they look or how they can be used for humans.
Wasps pollinate plants we like to eat, and they deserve to live even if they didn’t. Doing genocide against certain species just because they don’t produce value to us is pretty fucking horrifying

Actually very very intriguing to me how Daeron is the gentlest of Alicent’s children, and he definitely DOES do some insane shit in the DoTD, ergo meaning that Helaena is Up There on the scale of Targ-Hightower bonkersness.

I recently had some landscaping work done, mostly to make it more accessible and what a transformation it’s been. I now get to sit out in it which frees up the patio area (not in view here). Aside from a new shed most of this is reclaimed including the pergola and the little pathway which is done to be semi-permanent so no concrete with the bricks themselves being reclaimed. Aside from my personal enjoyment of this area there is lots that has been incorporated for wildlife.
Not in view is a hogitat, a little water basin (just in shot below left) shallow enough to be safe for our hoggy friends. Lots of stones in the corners for natural habitats. Bird feeders and since taking this shot I got a suet feeder cage that I’m using for nesting material. I also have two water stations for birds as this seems to be something people forget with wild birds.
I’ve also seeded some wild flowers and in the right corner is a small raised bed for cut flowers. Beneficial for bees and me!
One of my future goals is to grow night flowering plants for the night pollinators. Again, everyone seems to forget that bees are not the only pollinators.

Trying to go to bed but the biggest, fastest spider is in my bathroom and I’m nervous I’m gonna need to pee soon
Can’t kill it (and don’t want to because it’s just a creature), too scared to catch it and put it outside
If it gets bad enough I guess I’m peeing in a cup ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

someone just said that chocolate is vegan because "theres no milk in it" and like. yeah for the vast majority of dark chocolate, its true theres no dairy in it, but yall do know that chocolate isnt vegan, right. Like yall do know theres an average of, give or take, 6 insect legs in every chocolate bar. right. Like the acceptable ratio of insect leg to chocolate is even outlined in the FDA. CPG sec. 515.700, if you feel like looking it up. I'm not vegan, I just need to be really clear that theoretical Milk Content is NOT the reason chocolate Isnt Vegan.
