I just saw that Velma has a second season coming up and... WHAT THE FUCK?
At first, I was hyped up for a new Scooby Doo show. Then we got whatever that was.
All the visibility I saw on that show was bad. All the reviews, everything everyone said about it. No one had a single good thing to be honestly said, and the few that did were paid off.
What kind of chicken shit someone has instead of brains to get established, beloved characters and... Do that?
I think that if they created new characters, it would be better, but no. They decided to go with the Scooby Gang. And remove the main character, that is the lovable Great Dane who's scared of his own shadow!
So, that's getting a new season, while actually good shows, such as Inside Job, get cancelled for? No apparent reason?
(the rant on the death of adult animation will come soon, don't worry.)
So, yeah. Apparently, they can't differentiate between good and bad visibility, especially in recent times when people bother to spend more energy to complain than to say good things. (And yes, I'm also guilty of that.)
To paraphrase 9 years ago. To quote the Joker “Now Where Do we Begin”
Mindy Kaling has a lot of fun as a writer, proving that with Office, her own show Mindy Project, and her Prime Exclusive movie that skewered the late night industry.
So a take on the mythos of the meddling kids before they formed up should have that same style.
Only they lose the Scoob, fun, charm, and self respect for the most unlikely thing to come of this year.
Making something so bad the collective community comes together to realize how much of a train wreck it was. Only unlike the office dundies metaphor, the boss is actually encouraging you to look away.
Loosely it concerns Velma Dinkley trying to come to terms with finding her missing mother, only to be swept up in a mystery that would see many things occur.
A reunion with a former bestie that would see the depths of her truth come to fruition.
An unrequited crush that would seem more harmful than helpful.
As well as her only close friend being stripped of his establishment for a cheap meta punchline.
Yes, by a longshot with only 1 hour of content in a January premiere this would run away with the worst show not only of 2023 but maybe of the last 20 years.
Meta humor can work in small doses, but not with something that doesn’t need to have modern ideals with long tropes icons.
At least Scrappy Doo has been vindicated as the franchises black sheep.
SUM 22: Mindy Kaling does her version of the Meddling Kids without the dog and ends up uniting the masses with a big letdown.
What’s funny about this new “adult” scooby doo show (that I’ve never even heard about until now) trending on tumblr is that all I see in the tag are the people complaining about such show and nothing about it itself
when we're talking about the new pretty awful velma show, what if we all watched something good for a change? like solve-it squad. a scooby doo inspired musical available for free on youtube made by people who actually like scooby doo. and the velma character is queer and played by a woman of colour. seriously, go give it a watch.
I’m still willing to give the show a chance, but it’s gunna need to explore the characters a little more deeply and maybe ease up on the lamp shading a bit
Things i would love to see the scooby doo franchise do in future films/tv shows
1. let scooby be more of a dog
it feels like these days, the people who write scooby forget he's a dog, not a human in a dog suit so i would like them to make scooby act more dog like e.g. wagging his tail when he meets the others again after splitting up, growling and barking at bad guys to protect his friends, playing with a dog toy, chasing his tail and etc
2. let scooby care about the others
it seems that that just keep putting scooby with shaggy so it looks like scooby only cares about shaggy and not the other 3 when he does, he's saved fred a few times, he gets loads of attention and loves from daphne and he helps velma find her glasses or help her with solving the mystery, so in the future, let scooby spent time with fred, daphne and velma more as they are much as scooby's owners as what shaggy is.
3. if they bring back scrappy, redesign him
make scrappy look like a puppy great dane as his current design looks like a bipedal jack russell terrier/chihuahua mix, so make scrappy look like what scooby did in 'a pup named scooby doo' but make him a little small as he could be a runt, also change his collar to make it a green and his personality can be he looks up to scooby like before but he a bit clumsy as he still trying to walk around in his big feet, loves to have cuddles with scooby and sleep on him when he's tired, barks instead of talks and he has this cute dopey bark, let him being stuff to velma when he thinks it's intresting for her to know, loves playing fetch with fred, loves snoozing on daphne's lap in the van, eat a lot like shaggy and scooby and he is just a cute, dopey lovable great dane puppy
that's all i can think off but i will add more if i think of them or put in suggestions people have in the comments or with reblogs 😁
