Weird things that give me species euphoria sometimes

Laying in the sun, getting head pats, shaking my hair off when it's wet in the rain, paddling in water, when I'm given a little bit of someone's food, being told "get the spray bottle!!" As a joke when I do something silly, tilting my head, walking on my tip toes, Dino arms, sticking my head out the window in the car

Hey Rani! Hope you’re doing well!

I have a question! I’ve been having some dreams shifts of being a velociraptor, I saw myself in these dreams being the wild critter and doing what’s natural to me.

Could this possibly be a sign that I could potentially be velociraptor kin?

Could it be? Sure. Is it likely? That's another question.

Basically what this comes down to is, does it feel right to you to call yourself a velociraptor? And what may help answer that is asking yourself whether there's anything else pointing you toward this or just these dreams, and how much you really feel raptor in your day-to-day life. Even if the dreams are and stay consistent, if you don't feel it in your day-to-day life at all - no instincts, no (waking) shifts, no dysphoria, etc. etc. - that's probably not enough to affect your sense of self that drastically (although for you it might be, and that's perfectly fine).

My favorite stim is something I like to call my "raptor dance", where I simultaneously flap my arms and tap my toes. I love it because I can almost feel my feathers puffing up in joy again and my arms even feel almost like the arm-wings they were in that lifetime.

I'm not talkin' the lil real life chicken lookin' ones (/lh), I'm talking the big ones (regardless of feathers) from Jurassic World, or just those types in general. So..I guess..it counts as paleo fictionkin? Lemme know if there's a better term ahaha

So throughout my childhood, I *loved* raptors. Not as much as cats, but close. Reminder, the kind I'm referring to are big ones from media. I don't even think I knew little ones existed lmao

I would act like one (just as I'd act like a feline or creature in general) and I think I'd try to make their noises. I then started playing Ark, and naturally I was drawn to the raptors, direwolves, and sabertooths lmao

Now..I'm not raptorhearted. This definitely feels more "this is me" than just "I freakin love you". I'm wolfhearted, so ik the difference in feelings.

The other night I noticed myself swaying as I'd walk, like I had a big feathery tail. Also had a phantom shift, though that was more feathers than an actual tail.

I haven't looked up raptor behaviors yet, but I'm still really feeling like I am one! It'll be a pain having to explain everytime that I'm not a lil guy though💀

I'm pretty sure I'm velociraptorkin, but the one thing tripping me up is that my current body physically can't handle the climate I would've lived in during that life. But everything about a velociraptor body seems "correct" to me: the feathers, the toe claws, the size, the shape, the proportions...

Is this a sign I'm actually a closely related species from a different environment, or is it more like how fishkin can't breathe water in this life?

Can I have some positivity for those of us whose current bodies can't live in the environment our kintypes did? I'm velociraptorkin but can't handle hot or dry climates in my current body and it makes me feel kinda fake.

Hello, and of course you can! :D

As a fellow nonhuman (I'm a cryptid) who is able to live wherever and withstand all sorts of environment in my original form, I can relate. I sympathize with you and understand it can feel like we're not ~really~ our species. :(

However, you still are a velociraptor... whose mind/soul/essence/instincts/etc. are in a human body! (Or chassis, or flesh vessel, or puppet, or whatever lingo you prefer to lessen your dysphoria.)

And human bodies are... really sensitive. Especially if said body has a disability or illness, or are used to temperate climates. I know it sucks D: but it isn't your fault that the human body isn't converting your velociraptor mind/soul/instincts/etc. into the body: it's just incompatible.

It does NOT mean you're actually fake or not a velociraptor all along. It just means your species and the body's are different, and that's 100% okay.

But as annoying as these thoughts can be, we can try to feel it, let it through... and then gently tell it that it's wrong (cause as much as I like to tell thoughts like that "fuck you" sometimes it just gets harder if I say that... YMMV, though!.

You ARE a velociraptor. A real one! Just because you're in a human body right now, doesn't mean it cancels out your velociraptor-ness.

I hope it helps! You can even write the above passage down somewhere, and read it every day, ask a friend/trusted one/etc. or ask this blog for further reassurance.
