I love the comic book writing sensibility that Frequency has, like how Three and Five's ending is great for the story being told but if it were a published comic it would still leave them on the table for if a future writer wanted to use them.
whats funny is that despite doing my best to keep in line with dc comics/comic writing sensibilities throughout the fic (staying as comics-accurate as possible in terms of continuity/tone/characterization/story elements etc) that particular comic writing reality was one that was like. kind of a genuine anxiety that i didn't know i had until i started writing this thing.
ive said before that in the original concept for Frequency all of the clones (besides Thad) were going to end up dead. whether it was via killing each other or unintentionally being the instrument of their own demise (disney villain style). obviously it changed because creating an entire narrative about this one character's redemption arc and then not allowing any of the other villains to have a shot at redemption felt hypocritical and like. mean. not to mention antithetical to the whole ethos of the story.
but the reason why killing off all the other clones was my first instinct is partially because i had this kinda subconscious recoil to the idea that any of them would actually continue on after the story was over.
like, because i was trying to stick to canon so much, while figuring out the story a thought came up a couple times that basically went like, "okay, well, if this was a real comic, then...". and inevitably i had a realization that if this WAS a real comic, my original clone characters would be canonized, and therefore available to any future writer who wanted to yank them out of their respective endgames and inject them into other stories. which i Did Not Like the Idea Of.
classic "making up a guy to get mad at" except it was more "making up a reality to get anxious about". because obviously no matter how much it sticks to canon, Frequency still exists in a fan-created space.
but! i'd never made up original characters to put in my own fanmade stuff before and was definitely feeling protective. because all those original clones i made had yknow: a story purpose and narrative function to facilitate the actual key characters, Thad and Bart. the idea of them being removed from that context in any capacity, even if it was in the hands of a good writer, made me have this gut "no STOP you're ruining it!!!!" reaction.
they were all made for Frequency, and to foil Thad as a character, i didnt like the idea of Three being brought back as a one-note villain or Jude and Nathaniel getting folded into the wider Flash cast of allies. and none of them were made to be main character material. plus the character roster at DC is already uhh Extremely Stacked i genuinely did not want the takeaway to be "and here's the nEW ADDITIONS TO THE FLASH FAMILY!" because that wasnt the intention
anyway i got over it lol. i still did my best not to leave any loose ends, and have each ending be wholly satisfying on its own, and ideally the oc clones basically continue on offscreen while the true adventures are based around Thad and Bart. but yeah it felt right to leave off on that note (and served the story much better than killing everybody off)

in case any of you were imagining me being a bright shining presence in real life, please know that a fun guy came into the ceramics studio three days in a row to visit his ceramics-artist girlfriend and saw me working while sitting on my customary stool. and the 4th day he commented "you sit like uhhhh, like L. from Death Note"

Hello, Charlie, just wanted to make this ask to tell you how amazing you are. You were one of the first kindergarten accounts I found here on Tumblr and I'm honestly so happy I did.
You, as well as other kg artist, made me feel so much better with my art, seeing someone having an art style that looked so similar to mine yet so different and from someone so cool as you. It made me feel a lot better, even if it's not something that big.
Also, the way you draw Ozzy is honestly so cool and a huge inspiration for my current way of drawing him, I adore him.
You are a super cool person, the few times I've been able to talk to you on the kindergarten server I've been so happy, I literally look up to you a lot, you are one of my idols here on Tumblr (is that how you say it?). However, what I mean is that you are in my top 3 favorite kindergarten artists, and the fact that I am able to talk to you is just so... "#!_:#)'#)€?". I got a little jump scared when I saw you on the server.
And there is more, but I honestly can't bring myself to write more without breaking up crying, soo, sorry for the super long ask and for being a coward and writing this as anon –🐀💥
anon… anon whoever u are i’m gonna get you… …. crignngn in the house tonight this means so much tysm sosbbsdnjsnsbd.

so what povs have been your favorite to watch so far and why?
Mine have been vegetta cause his streams are generally chill and he has shown some of the mods implemented so far and their uses which is cool but my favorite aspect is his eagerness to learn and comunicate with anglos, like he has a very basic level of the language but that has not stopped him at all to make friends and giving them stuff he's like the cool and chill hermit living in a cave that's minding his business but is also down to go create chaos. (also the fact that he's so real with everyone when he gets overwhelmed with the language or tired and how everyone respects that and give him time to rest a bit doing his own things and then joining them again)
Philzas pov while we saw very little of it he also minded his business and started grinding asap but whenever someone came along he would stop and ask if they wanted to accompany him or viceversa and just good vibes al around im so exited to see more of his pov.
Quackitys has been my favorite bc you really get the best of both worlds, he constantly checks on the players, if someone is hanging out alone he goes to them, he speaks spanish with the anglos and english with the hispanics but as soon as someone gets overwhelmed he switches back and helps them or encourages them so it is not forcing them to speak the language and he's just so fucking funny.
I yhank qsmp for introducing me to roier cause ive have gotten so attached to him, he's silly, he has some really questionable but creative ideas and he's such a social butterfly like, he's so cool, he also struggles with English but it like I can almost see thru the screen how his brain works to put the context and clues together to talk with everyone.
MISSA like I wish I knew about him sooner, his voice and accent are so fucking cool and you can tell he's been waiting for the moment to flex his English cause this man right there switches almost as fast as quackity I love him sm.

what is the situation with spoken latin?
spoken latin is like. the demographic of people who go to the spoken latin group is already an experience. imagine you are the only person in the room whose name doesn’t already work in latin and gendered latin pronouns make you have a crisis every week, and also there are christians (the threatening type), and the christians have brought very large dictionaries, and you are playing the ‘explain this latin word in latin using other words only’ game but the word the christians have chosen is ‘macula’ (stain) (this has religious significance apparently) and it is not a word that you know and they’re like (in latin) why have you not read bede’s ecclesiastical history. we should go on a pilgrimage to visit bede’s grave. and then you do end up becoming good friends with the Other people in the spoken latin group, outside of the group also, but the vibe In the group is consistently Very Strange. and then there’s a whole additional situation where the main guy graduates and the two secondary guys decide to co-run it the next year and so go on a latin speaking retreat in a monastery together and then when you (who did not go to the monastery) get back to uni the next year one of them has decided to do a coup and also starts wearing an ominous academic gown at every meeting (‘mox doctor creandus sum’) and just being generally a dick (worst opinions on war poetry i’ve ever heard, expressed in latin). and the texts are also deeply boring (it is bede’s ecclesiastical history). so you and the people who also do not like the vibe decide to Schism and start your own latin speaking thing and then one week after the schism you encounter The Coup Guy in the latin texts section of the bookshop (you recognise him by his bald spot) and you’re like ah fuck. but he doesn’t see you (phew) but you want to buy a book which involves Speaking Audibly (bad) and then you realise oh this is fine actually because this guy has only ever heard my voice speaking latin. and it is in fact fine! and then two weeks after the schism your group ends up never meeting again because there is a pandemic
