im not the best at drawing insects, so in case it's hard to tell: Virgil is a spider, Roman is a butterfly, Remus is a moth, Logan is an ant, Janus is a wasp and Patton is a bee.

Virgil, the spider: he already has spiders motifs. Also, spider webs can work as a metaphor for falling down an anxiety spiral (one step down a slippery slope and you're unable to get out).

Roman, the butterfly: the (mostly agreed upon) prettiest bug, for the prettiest boy in the party™. They're not overly romanticized in media for nothing lol. And of course, he's a "monarch butterfly".

Remus, the moth: "like moths to a flame" that represents self-destructive behaviour (unable to go against a desire that ultimately harms you, and could be your doom). Also, he shares the buttlerfly similarity with Roman. Plus he's a nuisance to your wardrobe

Janus, the wasp: they can sting without dying, having more of a defense purpose. Acting as Thomas' self-preservation, he acts like a last line of defense. And the yellow and black color scheme suits him nicely.

Logan, the ant: they're hard-working, resourceful and persevering. Those are pretty much words that easily describe Logan as well. And if anyone would be able to carry two times his own weight, it would be him (?)

Design fun fact: his extra set of arms are retractable! He uses them when he needs and extra pair of hands (lmao). Patton can do this too

Patton, the bee: hard-working too, but more centered in providing for others: he provides the others with affection and dinner (lol). He's sweet as honey. Their existence is helpful to the environment, and Patton's existence is helpful to my mental health /hj

Kinda weird ask incoming: Are Bill's substance abuse issues in your characterization based on anything canon or an Alex Hirsch interview or something or is it just "he obviously would abuse substances (more) if this wasn't a disney show so I'm just filling in the blanks"

1/3 actual canon & context clues, 1/3 reading five feet deep into one foot deep canon material, 1/3 "he totally would if this wasn't Disney."

To my knowledge there's no interviews confirming that he's heavy on the substance ABUSE (rather than just substance use), but to my recollection I'm pretty sure he's got the most allusions to consuming something alcohol/drug-adjacent of all the characters in the show. Outside of Bill we've got:

(and for the longest time I'm pretty sure this was the only explicit reference to an alcoholic beverage in a Gravity Falls-adjacent media; but Reddit is a godless land where S&P cannot tread, so I'm not gonna put too much weight on that. Still worth mentioning tho.)

he's got Time Punch at his Fearamid Party. Considering the "time" in the name, it could be related to Cosmic Sand (maybe you mix sand to make the punch?) which would mean they're drinking HARD.

(if Cosmic Sand IS related to Time Punch, now that we know Jheselbraum was in Bill's gang, there's a high chance she picked up drinking it while in the Henchmaniacs, so that's another thing we can now tie back to Bill's influence.)

Three bullet points. He noclipped a guy into the ceiling. he got so drunk he forgot he killed his mom. He was arrested for "indecent exposure." Bill you good???

So most of the examples of drinking/hallucinogenics we get from the rest of the show are like, casual drinking or else children doing stupid shit. ONE incident of depressed drinking and one alcoholic side character.

But Bill drinks when he's partying, drinks when he's depressed, drinks when he's relaxing, drinks when he's stressed, drinks socially, drinks alone, drinks when he's helping a friend have fun, and thinks about drinking when he contemplates his worst enemies.

Okay.

Now half of these are from TBOB, so obviously they didn't factor into my decision to portray him as inclined to substance abuse over a year ago; but like... I'd say I interpreted the info we had on hand correctly, yeah?

Beyond that, it's a headcanon built up on the fact that he's got a lot of traits that lend themselves toward substance abuse.

An EXTREME "maximum fun NOW, consequences later NEVER" attitude. There seems to be no limits to how far he'll go in the name of chaos, fun, & hedonism, no matter who he hurts, no matter if he hurts himself. He's got that combination of reckless + irresponsible + shortsighted + passively self-destructive.

BIG on partying, which generally means drinks are involved and definitely seems to be the case here based on the time punch. "A party that never ends with a host that never dies"??

"says he's happy, he's a liar." When an emotionally stunted depressed person is in denial about being depressed and trying to convince everyone they're fine, what's a common coping mechanism? Self-medication!

he likes hurting himself. consuming substances in ways that are harmful to him is recreation to him. Yes I am talking about the soda in the eyes, even if it was a loaner body that can't have felt pleasant. The way he seeks out extreme+strange sensations makes me think he'd jump at the chance to try some weird new substance that does some crazy new thing to your head.

loves to socialize, but like... doesn't seem to have close friends. It would make sense for him to be inclined to use drinks/drugs as a social lubricant, both for himself and for his "friends," to help them all overlook the fact that maybe they don't actually really enjoy each other.

he's got a very strained relationship with reality, by which I mean he's actively attempting to murder reality and replace it with fantasy. if Bill's reaction to an emotionally close relationship catastrophically falling apart is going on a massive bender, and if Bill's got a long string of exes that fell apart so catastrophically that they're straight up blocking his number, he's denying he ever dated them or ever felt love, and he's claiming that love is merely a pupa for hate... I think there's probably been a lot of benders.

overall he's just... a stressed, cranky, high-strung control freak who wants to give off the image of being so chill and cool and popular and enviable and suuuper happy. So, my dad is an red bull mechanic at F1 and works on max’s car. While working he overheard max talking to his manger about his sister. Apparently she has been ‘talking’ to someone. They went on to talk and my dad didn’t really catch anything interesting, and he was working, so he dismissed it (this was a few years ago ago)

Now a bit more recent he heard them talk again and this time he heard some more interesting things, apparently Y/n is now dating this person (who is now confirmed to be a girl and he heard a she) and they have been for a few months (1 month after the first conversation)

Now onto the interesting part; as some of you know, max can be a bit protective, so he was telling his manager about how he is worried that she (Y/n) will be with them keeping their relationship a secret, and now to the most shocking/amazing part; he also said they when/of the relationship comes out he is worried how she will deal with all the attention/fame. He then went on to say they she (the girlfriend) is amazing and that he knows she will care for his sister, but that you can never really know with fans.

This led him (and me) to believe that she is dating someone famous with a fan base that can maybe(?) be a bit toxic(?).

This was also confirmed when my dads heard them talking AGAIN (they really need to learn what privacy is) (this is also more recent, think like one or two months ago), and this time we got SO MUCH INFO!!! So firstly; it is a singer, because my dads heard max say that they went to Y/n’ girlfriends concert and they they loved it and then went backstage to see her (so this person is a singer that is currently on tour/performing at events). He then also said that it was really weird hearing his sisters girlfriend singing about their … you know what life. That leads me to believe that the singer has a song on a recent album/ep that is about love/… life (maybe with a girl). And now onto the part where it all fell into place (if you don’t already know who it is); He said that the music isn’t really his style but he likes it and his sister loves it so that’s good, the he said and I quote “I think it is really great that she has now gained the confidence to song more and really show her voice, I think Y/b really helped her with that. ……….. Billie is a great singer.” End quote.

So here is what I gained from all this; Y/n is dating a girl, who is a singer, with songs about her, that singer is named billie. So I think we can all assume that it is billie rikishi with the song LUNCH about her!

I am very happy for them both (and fit myself cause I am a BIG fan of them) and if you have any questions feel free to ask! I’ll try and awnser as many questions as I can without exposing who I am/who my father is and putting his job at risk.

Yanderes in the Cybird Ikemen games I've played:

To start with, I think to count as a true yandere character, the LI has to be a yandere in their base route.

It can't be something missed because someone read one ending instead of another and it can't just be in event or bond stories, which some players might never see. If that's the case, they're no different than the "bad ending yanderes" of the games that have certain LIs be yanderes in specific bad (or dead) endings, but who aren't really yanderes outside of that.

Also, a common trope in otome media, and certainly in these games, is that the LIs will sometimes show possessiveness that might be red flag level in the real world. This is not them all being yanderes, which is unhealthy obsessive love that doesn't just come and go, it's just that the writers know it's a popular kink among players.

So, if all you really want is occasional possessiveness, probably the majority of LIs in these games could scratch that itch, especially since there's event stories in all of them where the LIs are especially possessive/obsessive.

Ikemen Prince:

Gilbert von Obsidian.

Red/black flag yandere. Stalking, possessive, obsessive, controlling, manipulating, abusive, etc. He's extremely yandere in basically everything--base route, endings, events, bond stories, etc. He even has strong vibes in some of the other LI's routes/sequels.

The villain LI, he's been into the MC the longest of anyone. He isolates her and forces her to stay with him, tormenting her all the while. And if he's going to die, he wants the MC to kill him (so she's forever traumatized and never able to move on).

Frequently mentioned:

Rio Ortiz.

Definitely has "soft yandere" vibes, he's in love with the MC and a bit aggressive about it and comes across as obsessive at points, however, he's not a true yandere because he's willing to give the MC up, so he's more a typical otome best friend LI with a huge crush.

Luke Randolph.

While he has definite potential, I think at best he's "yandere tendencies" and not an actual one. Since he's a siscon who projects some of that onto the MC, he can give an impression of obsessive love, but he's a fairly normal otome LI in his base route towards the MC.

Honorable Mention:

Kagari Amagase.

His route has not come out, yet, but he's had some extremely possessive/obsessive moments in extraneous stories and in some voice lines, so he may be their next yandere LI.

Matias Asbrink.

Another whose route has not come out, his whole "thing" is he's got a perfect wife hallucination that he's obsessed with and either he'll get over it or he'll project it onto the MC, at which point he may end up a yandere.

Ikemen Villains:

Elbert Greetia.

Red/black flag. Obsessive, possessive, controlling, confining. Will definitely either stuff or eat the MC's body if she dies first, assuming they don't go together.

In the base route he can't even stand the MC looking at other men and wants her to always be thinking about him, and he chains her to his bed at one point. In both endings he's even more yandere, as well as in every event/bond story.

Frequently mentioned:

Ellis Twilight.

While a lot of people call him a yandere, he definitely is only soft yandere at best in his base route, not a true yandere, and only slightly more yandere in one of his endings and not yandere at all in some of his event stories. He's way too into the MC's consent and her happiness and while he is possessive because of his curse, it's impossible to know if it's yandere levels or just normal otome possessiveness unless she tries to leave him or something, which probably won't ever happen in an Ikemen game.

William Shakespeare.

He's often called the yandere in ikevamp, but he certainly isn't in his base route or the ending I did, so I'm unsure if it's just because of event stories or if it's because people misinterpret his route. It's enemies to lovers and Shakespeare does some things early on that would be yandere-ish...except love is a prerequisite for yandereness and there was no love behind those actions.

Honorable mentions:

Faust.

I haven't finished his route, yet, and while I have never seen anyone call him a yandere, he's very possessive in his route preview, in various events, and the like. So I'm not sure if it's just because he's a later edition or something, but thought I'd mention him.

Ikemen Sengoku

Uesugi Kenshin.

Orange/red flag yandere. Possessive, overprotective, confining, obsessive. Would rather die than not be with the MC.

Perhaps the most notorious yandere of the Ikemen games because so many people like him even if they don't like yanderes, he famously involuntarily confines the MC for her own protection mid route and doesn't want to let anyone else near her because of his possessiveness. He's a yandere in most event stories I've seen, though it can be subtle or sometimes not come up.

Honorable mentions:

Kanetsugu.

While he's not a true yandere, he has some great ultra possessive lines that have strong yandere flavor. I've got some screencaps on my blog for some favs.

Also, there's two new characters just introduced at the end of last year in Japan and one of them has some vibes from some of what I've seen of the fan translated promo materials: his keywords being "Doll" and "Obsessive" and him possibly wanting to completely control the MC. Not sure if anything will come of it, though I'm holding out hope.

You jerk back with the shout, eyes shooting to Gene, But... he isn't looking at you, he has a eerily calm expression staring at your wrist, you wish you could say he's overreacting but, your wrist looks BAD... feels worse... practically immovable.

"You're getting that treated" His voice is cold and firm, there's hardly any room to argue with Gene when he's in a good mood, you feel like if you tried now you'd just be shouted out until he forcibly changed your mind... even if it is in your best interest, the idea makes a stone like dread form in your stomach. So instead, you inhale deeply before nodding

"Okay..."

"Now."

Okay that was more of a surprise, you never went to town when Gene was her, brought down the chance of trouble in.... multiple ways. Besides he tended to prefer having you to himself but before you can even say a word he's grabbing your cloak and fastening the cape of... well its best you don't ask how he got that guards uniform.... Less you know more you can deny.

The walk back to the village is... well how often can you describe something as tense? He's silent and staring forward eyebrows face tense... he's thinking on something dark, and he's thinking HARD. But, his fingers are laced with your own, and your pulled close as can be to his side, He walks you all the way to the Doctors... uses his Magicks to ensure you don't have to pay then...

"Meet me outside when your done okay?" Lightless dark blue eyes finally meet your own.

"Y.... You're not staying?" You look over in surprise, Gene NEVER left your side when he was with you sometimes you couldn't decide whether it was cute or suffocating now you were getting medical treatment and... he was leaving?

"No no, I got stuff to take care of Doll" Well that sure doesn't bode well.

"What do you have to do?" When you ask.. He chuckles darkly reaching out a hand and placing it on top of yout head.

"Don't you worry your little head about that yeah? I'll be right outside by the time your done, I'll even have a little suprise for ya" he hums with a warmth that doesnt reach his eyes then walks away as you hiss in pain, doctor starting work on your wrist.

Theres been a commotion outside, you haven't been able to investigate. A wrap and splint being put onto your wrist but there's been a lot of shouting for the past 20 minutes. A part of you wishes you felt more worried, after all, the main scenario playing through your mind is Gene has been discovered but... no one in this village could hope to hold their own against the shadow knight, Metal or wits. Thinking about him being discovered gives you more a sense of pity for the people of this village then concerns over your beloved.

It's not until you step out of the doctors building that you learn exactly how wrong you are. Theres a crowd gathered, all staring at a pleading and crying man... a man you recognize.

The blueberry vendor from a few sunrises ago has been forced to his knees in the time square, his face is bloody and bruised you'd be surprised if he can even see the men holding him in place, arms outstretched despite how desperately he claws the wooden barrel holding his arms up trying to escape, to plead his case.

"Here she is!" Genes voice calls your head snaps over as he walks towards you in full guard garb. He makes it to your side and with a flourish pulls out quite the fancy ring.

"He took this engagement ring from you, didn't he Doll?"

Only half of that was a question. And you could tell, either way this man was being framed for stealing a ring most likely from you. But staring into Dark blue eyes deeper than the sea as dark as the night, you know the question laced beneath this one.

"...Yes." you nod slowly swallowing away the... difficult emotion here, you don't quite know what it is. Something between guilt for the man... and dread. But deeper in you a warm electric feeling sparks in your chest of adoration and love as he slides the ring onto your finger... gently cradling your hands.

Right as the Vendor loses both of his.

With the screams in the backdrop and the tangy metallic scent of blood you realize something. That electricity is zapping its way through you, turning that guilt and gnawing feeling to ash. Maybe... your more twisted than you believed, after all... you need to be to love a man like Gene as deeply as you do.

my submission for the hermitcraft season 10 fan art gallery: Xisuma Eternal! (actual size on left, embiggened version on right)

there are a ton of little thoughts that went into this and i will now go off about them at length (ramble under the cut)

let's start with the image layout and composition! my first idea was to do an homage to the original doom box art because of X's skin, but ultimately I decided on referencing this Eternal cover (hence the title of the piece) because it sparked some stronger ideas in my brain.

i still wanted to keep that link to the original though, so i did my very best to emulate the original logo with X's name - replacing the original texture with binary as one of many references to X's role supporting the technical side of the server.

(for no reason other than my own amusement, the binary in the letters is translated lyrics from X's verse in the hermit gang song. i don't even know how much of that is still visible after lining the letters, but i liked putting it there)

i've only been watching hermitcraft for a few months, and there's an awful lot of history i don't know about. so i focused on doing my best celebrating builds X has worked on here in season 10! i would have loved to include his base as well, but ultimately i ran out of room.

(there are still a few nods to other seasons based on knowledge i've acquired through osmosis. evil X is the most obvious, but i was also able to sneak in a couple small carvings next to the X in the title text!)

coming back around to xisuma's work on the technical side, that's why Evil X is backed by error windows. it's also why xisuma is holding a toolbox! it was the best visual metaphor i could come up with for the digital job of maintenance and repair.

(and of course he has a lovely cup of tea as well)

the allays (holding redstone) are partially in reference to farms X has been making, partially bringing back in that angelic/demonic vibe of Doom, and mostly because their intended role of supporters and helpers feels very thematically appropriate for X.

the lines in the sky are of course meant to evoke the shapes of mace race, and the black cube is a minecraft-ified version of the Soulside Eclipse logo.

(if you're not familiar, that's xisuma's music! it's good!! give it a listen sometime! it's on youtube!)

the silverfish at the very bottom are visual reference to the demon hordes of Doom - and of course they're also much more directly referencing X's very clever prank in impulse's city.

finally, on the walls of spawn we have the carved symbols - one for every other hermit. i remember X mentioning in a stream once something about fulfillment from supporting others. (i apologise if i'm remembering less than clearly.) it just felt like if i wanted to represent X, it felt important to include them as well.

and of course it made me happy to do something for Every hermit, since all of them

(smallishbeans/joel was actually the one i got most stuck on! there wasn't really a single item or symbol i could think of to narrow him down to. ultimately i decided on a torii gate and a little letter J, but i'm honestly still thinking about it)

ah right, and the Actual last thing: this turner out to be totally unnecessary, but i absolutely did draw this in the minecraft map hex code colours. it's a tricky palette to work with, and i learned a LOT about pixel art while trying to get the sky to look nice!

this piece took about 10 days to complete, maybe the longest i've ever spent on a single illustration like this - and honestly, i'm really happy and pretty proud of how it turned out!!

So the problems I had with the canon design is that he looked more like a slug than a snake and there were too many eyes. His design just needed to be streamlined. I guess I'm not a fan of the eye motif in general, but that's a personal preference. I altered the colors to add more variety to the hazbin cast, and to reference his early design, which had quite a bit of green.

I based his design off of the Indian monocled cobra, because the design of its hood was most similar to Pentious', and Hognose snakes. Hognose snakes also have a hood, although not near as impressive as cobras. If that doesn't help to ward off danger, they are will play dead. They are very insistent about playing dead too. It's honestly hilarious. I thought the behavior fit Pentious' overall pathetic demeanor.

Body:

I slimmed his lower body to match his upper body to get rid of the slug look. He also doesn't really have much in terms of shoulders, his suit jacket has padded shoulders to make it look like he has them.

Then I changed the vertical lines to horizontal, which can open to reveal eyes, I guess.

Head:

So a snake hood is literally just their neck. They flatten their neck to make themselves look bigger than they are. I don't have to strictly follow that, since he's a demon and not a real snake, but I felt the need to somewhat allude to the fact. I also liked the animation of his hair/hood as it went up or down and wanted that to stay. So I had the hood part attach to his neck before the collar of his shirt, and the hair is an extra part.

I adjusted the mouth shape to more accurately resemble a snake's, which has a space for the tongue to pass through. The teeth aren't always visible, because snake fangs only show when the mouth is open. I didn't really consider what it would look like for him to unhinge his jaw, but he can totally do that.

Clothes:

I wanted to give him a more clearly Victorian outfit. Specifically late Victorian, because he apparently died in 1888. Fashion was basically transitioning into Edwardian at that point. But the hard part is that men's fashion didn't change as dramatically as women's over time. In a simplified style, I had to make sure it didn't just look like a regular suit. Especially since he doesn't have pants to help complete the look.

I opened his suit jacket to show the waistcoat(vest), and include a chain for a pocket watch. I chose to give him a cravat because it has Victorian vibes, and helped me in my quest to reduce the number of bowties. The tie pin looks like an eye because I didn't see a reason not to.

Top hats were fairly popular in this era. Bowler hats were probably more popular, but the top hat has an older vibe and steampunk aesthetic.

Egg Bois:

I don't actually understand them. He created them, but I don't know how that works. Or why he made them eggs. But they're there. Frank is there. I think one should be named Egbert. Yolkshire(oh, with a Cockney accent too). Um... any other egg pun names?

Mannerisms:

His height is variable, based on his mood and if he's trying to be intimidating.

I didn't consciously decide this, but I kept drawing it and liked it, but he tends to stick his tongue out and hold his hands up. It's pretty autism-coded.

Human: Soooooo. I did see the S2 leaks. I incorporated some things, but changed some as well, so I don't think this will be significant spoilers or anything.

Really long hair was not Victorian style, but there wasn't exactly a strict standard either. So I gave him the longest that I found examples of. Facial hair would have been typical for men to have, but I guess he didn't get the memo. Maybe he was worried about it getting caught in the machinery.

His name is Mr. Pendleton. I don't know a first name, but I sorta like Simon. He was a socially reclusive weapons engineer. To be perfectly honest, I don't have all that much else to say. I'm not sure how deep canon will delve into his human life and I don't want to theorize much at this point. So I'm not sure how he died either. Maybe it was a weapons malfunction.

He might only be in hell because he felt guilty about something that might be spoilers to say. It was honestly a pretty mild sin on his part, and I wonder if he was redeemed because his sacrifice relieved him of that guilt. I'm sure the show will touch on that though.

Redeemed: So the direction I'm going is that angels are more human-like in appearance. Those in hell look different because the place corrupts their appearances. But that mean his redeemed design had to be very different than canon. But it was a chance to give him his iconic hairstyle without worrying about historical accuracy.

Alright I’m back on my bullshit

I did say in this post I would be back to talk about how I think the relationship dynamics are in between poly!141 and I intend to keep that promise

Price & Gaz: as mentioned in the above post, cuddly rather than horny. Can’t imagine them getting directly raunchy with each other. At all. But I can imagine them holding each other close, sitting in the office being the silent rock that the other needs to get through a stressful day. They talk more formally with each other than Soap and Ghost in every way of the word. Gaz has always known Price as Captain, Price has always known Gaz as Kyle. They can depend on each other, they’re a team. They keep going through shit in Urzikstan together, fr, so I feel like they feel like work partners who happen to mesh romantically and do not mind kisses in the slightest. In fact, Price would not mind a kiss right now, and Gaz would not mind being the pretty lad to give one-

Soap and Ghost: oh this is up to interpretation. Ghoap is my favorite ship and it shows. I like the idea of Ghost having a hard time explaining (or even deciding) what he wants out of the relationship. It’s easier to delve into the bedroom than it is into emotions. And Soap is incredibly eager for the bedroom ofc, but he also loves spending time with Simon, not just the Ghost. He wants to figure out what makes Simon happy, and sometimes he’s not very good at it, but god damn it, he’s trying. So Simon is going to try, too…. Once he gets the stick out of his ass that keeps telling him he doesn’t deserve this love or this kindness. Such an annoying stick. Soap is trying to rip it out like a beyblade cord

Gaz and Ghost: didn’t even think of this pairing before tumblr, but now I can’t stop thinking about it. Ghost is emotionally constipated to hell, and Gaz has the patience for it, damn it! He knows he can’t just bulldoze Ghost’s emotional and trust issues with happiness to fix it (Soap keeps proving this, ‘cause he doesn’t know what else to do). So Gaz is gentler with Ghost, letting him take his time to work out feelings. He lets Ghost come to him, opening up at his own pace. In return, Ghost recognizes the sign of somebody who’s taking care of everybody else at the cost of themselves. He sees it in Gaz. He has the will to step up and remind Garrick he doesn’t always have to be in control, things happen, and it’s okay if people have a bad day every once in a while. It doesn’t need to be perfect. Promise.

Price and Soap: “He’s an idiot, but he’s MY idiot” type vibes. Price is a little more stern than Ghost is, mostly because Ghost is easier to exasperate into a smile and a shake of his head. Price is the captain, damn it, John MacTavish, keep yourself under control! (Which Price is NOT saying whenever Soap convinces him to do something a little naughty in private. If anybody can make Price blush with a few words, it’s Soap. Where the hell did Soap even GET that idea to do something like tha- is it an internet thing? It’s probably an internet thing…)

Soap and Gaz: you know the term ‘bromance’? That’s these two. Those guys who are like so close and always making gay/gay sex jokes with each other in public that make you do The Eyebrow Meme because you are waiting for the ‘no homo, bro… unless….?’ But they refuse to say that bit. Keeps the rest of the base on their toes. They aren’t outright horny in public, but you KNOW these two LOVE to catch people off-guard with one of those jokes along the lines of “of course I give my homies a good-night kiss and a bro-job before bed. They’re stressed, bro, it’s called being a good friend’

Price and Ghost: They’ve known each other the longest, and their relationship has the fewest words between them. They know each other inside and out, physically and emotionally. They’ve got experience on the field that the Sergeants haven’t had yet, and they know it. They don’t fault the younger two for it, and they don’t envy that the younger two only have yet to experience it all. Price and Ghost were together before it was even really okay to be gay, especially in the military, so they know how to keep things subtle and on the low-low. Their relationship is implied at best, but god damn if it isn’t loyal and love.

Anyway that’s my thoughts for now, I am super dizzy so it may not be coherent but <3 the boys

Legend & Fi Are Best Friends Y’all

One of my favorite HCs/Plot-bunnies is Legend even has heard the Master Sword’s voice before, during his first adventure as a kid. Grew real attached & even had full conversations with her…

… but as he grew older he began to assume it was all his imagination.

Nobody in his era knew the sword was supposed to even have a voice, the knowledge had been lost to time. Even if he pieces together the fate of his predecessor based on the state he found the blade in—He’d have had no proof that the pungent air of melancholy & mourning surrounding the blade was literal…

… Until he meets the Chain.

He doesn’t even make a big deal about it—It’s all very subtle. Soft adoring gazes & a few particularly telling blink-&-you-miss-it details.

Young Legend may or may not have ever even told anyone, (specially not Zelda, he didn’t want her to think he was a kid!) but he might’ve felt expected to grow up fast & caught on to that talking to inanimate objects is very childlike. I get the feeling he would’ve kept it to himself for the most part.

It’d be pretty easy to pass-off even. It’d barely even need to be a secret. Guys using personable feminine pronouns for boats, planes, cars, even, yes, swords has been very much a thing through history. Any slip-ups on the Vet’s part would simply be interpreted in this manner, he could even keep outright talking to her once in a while…

… but there’s still a difference between a grown man personifying one of his prized tools & a child bonding with an imaginary friend. It just wouldn’t be the same.

The bittersweet wonder, relief & vindication Legend must’ve felt when he learned one of his longest-allies wasn’t a mere figment of his imagination after all.

Lookat how ready & willing—thrilled even Legend is to not just speak to Sky’s Master Sword, he’s also the only one aside from Sky shown so far to like, actually talk to her as if she’s a person. The other Links—even Wild refer to the blade as an object.

That’s a dude that’s definitely heckin spoken to his dang sword before. He does it so easily, there’s zero awkwardness,

idk, it’s just… these are the vibes I get.

Helianthus: The Girl Steve Series

Now that the Girl Steve series is (mostly) finished with Rewrite an Ending or Two being complete I want to talk a little bit more about it, especially about Rewrite an Ending, as it's the longest thing I've ever written, and knowing that it's finished has me feeling kind of sad and unmoored.

This got kind of long so it's going under the cut. Spoilers for all three fics in the Helianthus series.

When I started writing the series (which is based on an idea from @torakowalski) I had three vague questions in my mind. What does it mean for Steve to be a girl, and a pregnant one at that? What does that change about her relationships and actions? What does THAT mean for the eventual outcome of Vecna's attacks on Hawkins? Essentially, what butterfly effects happen with a Jonathan and a Steve that are NOT antagonists (and a Nancy and a Steve that are)?

I was determined from the start that as far as possible, Steve's character and vibe would be similar to what we see in the show. It was important, for example, that she's Steve, not Stevie or Steph or Steffi. It still has that 80s vibe to it, and while Steve is feminine, she cares about looking hot (not so much looking PRETTY, that's Nancy) she also still has that jockish athletic outlook. She's still captain of two sports teams, she's tall (5'11) and strong, direct, loving, a little goofy, was cool and then suddenly not, and she loves her friends. She loves her car, and she thinks in sports metaphors. She's as recklessly brave as we see in the show, and she's been involved in the Upside Down since the start. She loves her first serious partner deeply, and is deeply hurt by their cheating.

So far, so similar. So what changes?

Well first the social cachet of 'hot, good at sports, rich' along with 'hooks up a lot' hits different for a teenage girl than it does teenage boy, especially as Steve's good at basketball and swimming, not like, gymnastics and figure skating. She's not going to to be the tiny, pretty pageant queen daughter of the rich businessman, and being good at sports has less useful social business cachet when the person being good at them is female. I imagine that's why the split with her parents happens in this 'verse.

So while she's still Queen Steve, it has a bit of a different vibe. The stuff will Billy has an even more overt sexual element in a "why does this hot chick think she's better than me" sense, and the concussions have a longer lasting effect- they're the reason she loses her place on the basketball team and with it, the companionship of her team mates. It's why such a big through-line of all three fics is Steve figuring she can manage on her own, and then finding out she doesn't have to.

But what it does give, and what sets the butterflies off to flap their continuity-changing wings, is a perfect person for Chrissy to talk to.

As soon as I started the fic i knew I had three lives to save: Patrick (who is saved through his mother), Eddie, and Chrissy. And it started with saving Chrissy. Steve's been where Chrissy is, at the top of the social pyramid. She knows it's possible to survive falling off it. And she has no time for Jason, and no compunction in telling Chrissy he's a waste of space. And that's enough to start the ball rolling, and change Chrissy's fate. Which ultimately, changes Eddie's too.

The last thing I wanted was to make Vecna's defeat consistent with what we've seen in the show. Why IS there no water in the Upside Down? What does it mean? Why don't they use fire more, when we know that it's the one thing that helps? And where is Kali? Why didn't El reach out to her, once she got her powers back, especially as Kail's powers are so similar to Henry's own? Answering those questions gave me a way to pull off Vecna's defeat that wasn't just 'Eddie lives because I say so.'

I feel like I've written way more than I meant to, and I've still got more to say. So I guess, ask me anything?

As for what happens next, I do feel the series is at a natural stopping point, but I have a whole complex headcanon about what happens NEXT, so never say never I guess.

I want to start out by saying I love Heinrich Unheimlich so much. He's just a silly 'lil guy. I love how he bought a chair specifically for Colin to sit in. And he was so proud of his chair too. I love him.

Theories:

Dane on the other hand, the best thing I can describe him as is incompetent. There are 3 possibilities why:

The Brief - they didn't tell him enough or he didn't pay attention (which seems out of character?) and he was going in blind

He's incompetent - He was told what to do and he was not good at his job

Starkwell wanted him incompetent - He is incompetent because Starkwell wanted him to be, so he could be a sacrifice. How do you prevent Eldrich Horrors beyond human comprehension from feeding on clients? Well, you give them a meal beforehand! I think that this is the most likely situation from what we currently know of Starkwell.

Heinrich is interesting, especially his story. It was very...eloquent. We know that [ERROR] isn't there so could it be FR3D1's prescence compelled him to some degree?

Based on his statement, it seems that he was given "life" through the stories that children told out of fear. This actually works well for his Avatar set up because he doesn't have to feed as often with these stories circulating (almost how Micheal Distortion "played with his food' as Helen said to extract as much fear as possible from them in the longest period of time). It's also interesting for me that he seems to be more or less retired, which is something we didn't see in TMA. All of the older Avatars, Fairchild, Magnus, Halley, Lukas, etc. were all very active. I wonder if he will be ultimately helpful or hurtful to Alice when everything goes down...

Another thing about Heinrich is that he encompasses everything around him: the toy, the toymaker, the factory - He is all of it. This could mean that Avatars are very much tied to their domains in TMAGP (like how the Distortion is in TMA). They are one. "Does your hand in any way own your stomach?"

As for Klaus from Heinrich's statement, I believe this Klaus to be the same one from Lena's office (that I believe she was supposed to kill). It would make sense: he experienced a fear, was driven to the OIAR, and fell victim to it (like Sam and Celia).

Two more things and then I'll stop ranting lol.

Gwen's new hire - Gwen is going to drag someone else into the OIAR apparently, so I have to make a couple guesses on who it will be: I think it would be really cool to see Melonie, Tim, Daisy, or Sasha come work for the OIAR, especially Sasha as she was almost the Archivist (and was Gertrude's pick of a successor). I doubt it will be anyone that we've already met: Georgie, Gertrude, Gerry, Basira, or Helen as they seem to have already established places in TMAGP. It also cannot be Jon or Martin as they are dead in this universe. I have 3 choices for who I think it will be: One of Gertrude old assistants - out of these I think Emma Harvey, who was a servant of the Web (although, I would absolutely love to see Micheal Shelley), a minor character from TMA (aka someone who had a statement and left) - I think Joshua Gillespie (Ice dude), or someone completely new. Either way, this plot point will be very interesting!

Starkwell has a contract with the German government. Starkwell, a private company tied to the Fears in some way, has a contract with the German government. I really don't like the sound of this as this fact means that there is precedent for Starkwell to work with governments, and could be working for a bunch of different countries. If they are indeed trying to feed the Fears or prepare a ritual (my theory), they will have a lot easier time doing so.

Had this goofy headcanon for the longest that the Feisty Slider's "ambitious flavor" comes from each of the Five contributing a topping to the burger as they were sorting out the menu, and after chatting w/ friends about it over discord, I finally figured them out!

Starlo: You might be thinking "Well, he grew up on a corn farm so he'd contribute a corn-based topping" but remember that this guy was trying to distance himself from his family up until the end of the Pacifist Route*. Plus, Starlo has an ego. He is ABSOLUTELY the sort to want Main Character status; he's not gonna let himself be some measly topping that can be picked off. His contribution would be the meat patty but cut into a star-shape. Because you can't have a burger without the meat.

Ed: Pepper jack cheese. Cheese and burgers pair well together; he's Starlo's right-hand man. Cheese helps hold everything together; Ed gives me the vibes that he's the one who holds things together/serves as the leader in Starlo's stead. Pepper jack cheese has a strong taste and a bit of a kick to it. He makes jokes that are sometimes a bit mean and has some anger that he's working on. He may be helping to hold everything together but that doesn't mean that he's gonna let himself fade into the background.

Moray: Seaweed (sea lettuce? nori?). Because they're a fish. I can't come up with much of an explanation here besides "Waterfall has a lot of seaweed, and even though they aren't from Waterfall, Waterfall is the wet location in the Underground and they're a fish so it fits. It would be a fun and weird topping and is also kinda trendy and out there yeah I know Ace is the more fashionable one but doesn't mean that Moray can't be a bit out there as well. They're Y for Youthfulness: when you're young, you're more aware of trends. Plus the slider needs to be a bit weird."

Ace: Purple cabbage. It fits his color scheme, it's a bit of an eccentric topping but still within the realm of a normal addition to a burger. I can see Ace rolling his eye at Moray's and Mooch's additions because at least his contribution is a normal(ish) topping for a burger (though IDK if he would want it as raw shredded cabbage or a slaw. On the one hand, a slaw is a bit more normal than just cabbage as is. But on the other hand, this is Mr. "A rooster and a crow can't get together like that." He's kinda stupid, maybe it wouldn't occur to him that he should process it instead of just eating cabbage raw. Probably. I'm rolling with raw cabbage for now).

Mooch: Peanut butter. Because she's a squirrel. But also, if you've ever had peanut butter on a burger before, it's not as overwhelming as you think. Sorta adds a richness to the protein taste of the burger and isn't overwhelming. Fits her sneakiness.

(*I can see him, Post-Pacifist, having the burger buns have cornmeal incorporated into them to show that he's reconnecting with his family.)

And there we have it. My take on this goofy little headcanon I got from one little throwaway bit of flavor text. A very... ambitious.... burger indeed.
