Urfhghhff this wasn't supposed to take a week but I was busy and my ibispaint was lagging 😭 but hhi here's Vince's info thing, I'll evolve him into an older age bracket when I feel like it lmao

Here's some add-ons to his little facts cus I didn't wanna cram all of that into the img:

Vince is a nickname — He doesn't use his actual name (Vincent) because he thinks it sounds weird and too "old guy" for him

He's bisexual — Tbh Vince doesn't have much of a preference at this age bracket but I'd say it's a bit more for girls than guys

Vince is the older sibling out of him and his sister — She's 3 years younger than him + in Ravenclaw (when Vince is in third year)

He's left-handed — There's little ink stains on his hand and robes from writing that he doesn't bother trying to remove because they're always gonna be there anyway

He will eat anything he sees that's on a plate — There's not really a particular reason but I guess Vince would do it because he thinks it's entertaining

Vince will go on these super long tangents and then not talk for like 6 hours — It's just a thing he does 'cause he's like that. Idk what to tell you

He makes this silly little celebration noises whenever something good happens — Yk, things like quiet "yay"s or "hooray"s?

He managed to convince people that his hat was permanently attached to his head once — Vince only did that because people kept joking that he always had his hat on and he decided to "confirm it". When he talked about it he referred to the attachment as in glued or screwed into his head depending on who he told it to lmao

October 1980. Dick Grayson's college career hits the wall: After too many Robin-related absences, he's in serious danger of flunking out. His business administration professor offers him one last chance to save his grade by doing an extra-credit research paper, but Dick ultimately blows it off and simply leaves Hudson University for good, also ghosting his girlfriend in the process.

Dick subsequently enrolled in Gotham University for a while, but it didn't take.

There were a couple of real-world reasons for this change: format changes to DETECTIVE COMICS that would no longer leave a slot for Robin's eight-page solo strip; the first of several unsuccessful attempts to again make Robin a regular costar in the Batman stories; and the imminent launch of NEW TEEN TITANS, in which Robin was to be one of the headliners. (The preview of the new series in DC COMICS PRESENTS #26 was released around the same time this issue was on the stands.) So, it no longer made sense for Robin to be tied to his frankly lackluster solo adventures at Hudson University. It was too bad for Jennifer, but given the later trajectory of Dick Grayson's love life, she was probably better off.

I'm asking

I've seen him on Taskmaster through YouTube and I've seen clips and bits of him on the bake off show, but not much panel stuff. Tell me more? Specific recs? Go for it.

oh sure!

basically i ended up getting really into noel's work back in early 2020, mostly because i just found the guy really fascinating.

so idk how much is commonly known about panel shows (pretty sure they're mainly a uk thing?) but basically it's like if you added a veneer of structured gameplay to college cafeteria lunch conversations, and noel's been on a lot of them.

here's a compilation of some of his panel show stuff, he's usually paired with russel brand in the older ones and richard ayoade more recently (warning for a few instances of Unfortunate 2000s humor, but the way noel interacts with it is part of why he's so interesting to me)

now if you've been following me for a while you'll have probably picked up on the fact that i really love media that feels loosely-scripted and somewhat unpolished, and this is because in addition to the humor being more spontaneous you get a really interesting look into how people work within group dynamics.

for instance if you watch through this here you'll notice that not only does noel avoid aforementioned Unfortunate 2000s Humor himself, he also has a knack for steering other people's bits away from tense or hurtful territory into lighthearted absurdity. example around 11:30, where another panelist clearly makes lily allen uncomfortable with a joke and noel manages to simultaneously call him out for being gross and pull the focus away from lily entirely without bringing down the mood at all (yes some of it probably comes down to editing, but it's still impressive)

anyway if you like the panel show format there's a lot more of these clip compilations on youtube, and iirc a decent number of full episodes on there for free as well

there's also the mighty boosh, where he plays an absolutely baffling character named Vince Noir opposite his best friend, and whether or not the show as a whole is your thing (some of it did NOT age well) the way they do dialogue is just. something else

(this clip is only like 2 minutes and the one i'd recommend the most out of the 3 in this post if you want the quickest possible idea of What Noel's Deal Is as a creator)

lastly, and this is just a fun fact, noel was actually the inspiration for the movie Baby Driver. apparently the entire movie was inspired by this music video:
