Hi guys!

So, this is a while after the initial announcement, but I'm hosting a DTIYS Event for a drawing I made of a scene from chapter 3 of Visions, and I thought I'd post it here so it could reach more folks! It didn't seem necessary to make it into a competition, because it didn't feel right to involve a prize or anything, but I'm open to suggestions if anyone else has ever hosted a DTIYS? It's voluntary of course, I'm just not sure what the standards are for these or how to encourage interaction. BUT I'll attach both the discord announcement and the original image so anyone who'd like to draw it can download it as a reference. You can post drawings in my discord (there's a channel for it) or on here and tag me!

its not as interesting or dynamic as the one i showed you earlier but okay let me explain this. so i have her holding her hands up to her eyes in the see no evil gesture right BUT you see how shes still looking through her fingers BECAUSE you also said she still sees everything. boom best of both worlds or whatever. i wanted to add the blindfold so i sorta have it covering her mouth alluding to the speak no evil gesture?? idk i just wanted the funky eye blindfold. i tried to make it look directly at you AND shes also looking directly at you cause she sees everything,, you see what i did there,, uuhuuhhh you see. i dont really have an explanation for the glowing eyes in the bg i just thought they would be cool and i did end up covering her dogs i aint learning how to draw bare dogs. i also tried to make it a sort of higher angle her robe and the hair behind her is spread out on the floor i hope that came through. one thing im unexplainably proud of is the chains LOOK AT THEM

AND THE FABRIC SHADING I THINK I CAME IN CLUTCH its a little messy cause i could not find a reference for the LIFE OF ME anyways more versions below of course

no shading and without the black hands and legs cause lowkey i forgot they were darker until the end

also look at what i was fucking doing with the rendering. i don’t know where i learned this from but i set it to overlay (the orangey one) and i just put more green over top

Replica Anniversary DTIYS!

Well, it was one year ago today that I started Replica!  It’s been a wonderful experience so far and I wanted to do something fun to show my appreciation to you all!  So in celebration I want to do my very first DTIYS, but we’re going to do this one a little differently. 

YOUR MISSION: to design a comic cover for the upcoming Replica Holiday Special that is all about the birth of Casey Jr:

The year is 2028, eight years before the start of Replica.  The Central Park Colony is still going strong and the turtles now must protect an expecting Cassandra Jones from the very people they are sworn to defend. 

As far as theme that is entirely up to you!  I’ve always found comic covers to be fun because they don’t necessarily have to show what happens in the actual story. So if you want Casey Senior holding up Junior on Pride Rock, Lion King style?  That’s great. You want to do an epic pose of the turtles battling Krang while trying to defend the Caseys?  Perfect.  You want to have Casey Junior bursting out of a Krang’s stomach like a Xenomorph???  Okay weird, but I’ll accept it so long as it’s not too gory!  Also the cover doesn’t  have to be Casey centric, I just want to see what you all come up with! (Note: please no NSFW art)

I have included character sheets and some visual development as reference for how the characters will look at this point in the story (though you do not need to strictly follow it. Feel free to give it your own artistic twist).  I will also include a PNG of the logo in case you have a vision for how you want it to be incorporated. Note you don’t have to use the logo but if yours is picked as the winner I will be putting a logo in there somewhere!

PRIZES: 3rd Place: an OC of yours will get to be a bg character in Replica (note the character cannot be an AU version of one of the main cast for obvious reasons). 2nd Place: a black and white commission of one character of your choosing. 1st Place: your cover front and center in the Replica lineup (with credit of course) as well as a 1-2 character commission w/ color (please no nsfw requests for either commission). 

DUE DATE: NOVEMBER 19 (gives you all 2 months)

IMPORTANT: please use #replica DTIYS hashtag for easy search Also please DM me with your finished cover on Tumblr (otherwise I might miss it!)

NOTE: while not mandatory you’ll probably want the piece to be around the typical comic cover vertical 2:3 ratio (10x15" for example).

I’ve never done an event like this before so I’ll admit I’m a little nervous.  Don’t know if this will even gain any traction but I just want people to have good time and get creative :) 

This is all just for fun so please do not push yourself too hard!

So a while ago I did a DTIYS challenge on my Insta (@Akhtsjrep) for hitting 2k, and the prize was to feature the winner's vision of their orientation as a cameo. Fellow aroace @lierskull001 won, so here's a comic featuring the two forms of their OC Anny, representing a... Tbh very relatable view on the aroace experience imo.

I got a question, did Jay killed the sky pirates? Because, I notice in your first comics that Jay's hands/gloves and cutlass were all covered with blood.

unfortunately the blood that's on Jay in the first comic is a bit of both from the sky pirates and his own blood and he didn't use a cutlass.

And Thank you @sharksandjays for the sketch commission from your dtiys! I took a long time to respond to this because ever since ya asked this I've had a vision and I just so happen to win a sketch commission from a talented artist and i just had to jump into the opportunity to create my vision!

Here's the original sketch from shark and i tried to make sure to keep the shark's sketch in the illustration as much as possible! Because i wanted to go into this with the mind set as if it was a unintentional collab xD

i went back and forth on whether or not this counted for @quezify ‘s DTIYS, but in the end i decided that the half-asleep vision of a fungus infected pigeon that caused me to draw this was probably subconsciously influenced by euthanasia, so close enough !

I just... couldn't choose. I love both works so much. Honestly, the rating would change depending on my mood. This work though... It feels like a book illustration?
