Vlad, Viago and Deacon as parents headcanons [pt.2]

Author’s note: I love writing this shit to a very unhealthy degree. I might make a oneshots out of this later. Also does anyone know Deacon’s nationality? Some say Polish, others say German. I’m still not sure.

Also, if some of you want pt. 3, please let me know what scenarios would you want me to explore specifically, because I am running out of ideas a bit…

When you first appeared in the house, Viago found some old suitcase in the attic and proposed that you’ll sleep in it, until they get you an actual casket.

You tried it, but couldn’t really slumber because of the constant nightmares and it was too scary to open the lid, because of the sun.

So you started sharing a coffin with Viago, at least until you felt calmer.

It resulted in him sacrificing a bit of his sleep to your rather constant tossing and turning, but he quickly got used to it.

He sang you German lullabies to put you to sleep or whispered some calming affirmations (you didn’t understand a word, but it was sweet).

He found these moments so precious, that he actually got upset, when you obtained your own coffin and started sleeping separately in the attic.

Since the attic was now technically your room, Vlad, Viago and Deacon decided to help you decorate it to your liking, so you went on the town basically robbing thrift stores and supermarkets by hypnotising the cashiers.

They helped you assemble the random ikea furniture you got, even though neither of you could understand the instructions on the box.

In your free time, you’ll often find yourself hanging around in Vladislav’s room, posing for his portraits. He likes your expressiveness, it really gives his paintings the right look. And so you won’t get bored sitting there for hours, he asks you about your life before you became a vampire.

You also speak a lot of Romanian together, because Vlad wanted you to know another language, so he only communicated to you in Romanian for a while and you unwillingly started to understand it with time.

If you miss your family, he will take you to your childhood home. Of course, you can’t really interact with them anymore, but you can at least watch and it might make you feel a bit better to know they are still living a good life and that they miss you just as much.

At one point all three of them realise, that you would benefit from some friends within your age group. So they take you out to an arcade pretty early in the evening.

Unfortunately, living with ancient vampires kind of killed any chance for your social skills to develop properly, so you ended up scaring a bunch of kids and getting very upset.

To compensate for it, Deacon called you along to watch videos on the laptop, that Stu set up. You accidentally stumbled upon Bill Nye reuploads and binged them together, because you thought he’s the smartest person to ever roam the earth.

All of them have some kind of a default nickname for you. Viago calls you “Mäuschen” (little mouse), Vlad calls you very simply “Child” and to Deacon you are “Rodent”.

Stu and Nick are kind of like uncles/siblings to you. When the three have to leave somewhere, they usually leave them to babysit you. You have a lot of fun together! Since all three of you still remember what it’s like to actually be a living and breathing human, you get to talk more about recent news and events, rather than reminisce about the past.

You are also the only person in the group, who can’t really steal your clothes from victims, since neither of the vampires is very keen on killing children. Mostly, they ask their newfound werewolf friends to pick something up for you during the day or steal it themselves during the night.

Considering you can’t go to a normal school, they decided to teach you at home. Vlad teaches you literacy and art, Viago teaches you sciences and history and Deacon teaches you actually important shit like hypnotising tax collectors, draining the blood of your victims into mason jars and looking cool as fuck.

If you call Viago “dad”, he will be over the goddamn moon. It’s like he accomplished a goal he didn’t even know he set.

If you call Vladislav your dad, for a moment he would almost feel this long forgotten warmth in his chest. It’s like his heart started to beat again.

If you refer to Deacon as “dad”, he will be very startled and confused at first. It’s a weird feeling for him to have someone trust him and depend on him so much. He won’t admit it, but he really loved that emotion.

The more you are around, the more they get into being parental figures.

Having practically raised your younger brother Nick, you were always interested in meeting his friends. Though when you meet his literal savior, you can't help but be curious.

Hey guys, I'm back at it again. I recently rewatched this movie and remembered how much I loved Petyr. His lack of fanfiction is an upset to the monster lover community. Anyways I hope you enjoy.

Nick sighed heavily as he balanced the phone between his ear and shoulder. “I already told you, I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to meet them. They are vampires after all.”

You sassily copied his tone. “And I think I should. For God’s sake one of them kept you from dying.” A sudden hiss comes from his side of the phone. You winced in sympathy. “Sorry buddy, I forget about the new quirks. Anywho, I always want to be a part of your life.”

Slumping against a nearby wall, he rubbed at his temple. “I want you to, I just worry about you around them.”

You suddenly pepped up. “Then it’s settled. I’ll be over tomorrow night. I can’t wait to meet everyone.”

Nick gaped down at the phone. You had a way of always doing what you thought was best for him. But this time he really thought you were making a mistake. Shaking his head, he decided that the important thing was to get over to the other’s place. He needed to set some ground rules and talk to his sire.

The house was filled with yelling and clatters. Viago faced the camera crew. “It seems Nick's sister is coming over.” Another bang sounded through the hall, causing him to wring his hands together. “Deacon is unhappy with Nick's decision to bring another ‘off limits' human into the house.”

The two men suddenly floated into the room, tumbling over one another in the process. They batted at each other and threw insults back and forth.

“It isn't your place to make the rules. You’re just a baby.” Deacon was basically frothing at the mouth. It wasn’t fair that Nick always got his way. He was the new fledgling, so he was last in the pecking order.

“But she's family. Besides you guys love Stu, so what's to say you won’t like her too.” He flung his hands into the air in exasperation.

This caused Deacon to pause. Stu was a great addition to their group. Even if he did come with the disappointment of Nick. "I’ll see when she gets here.” Then he stormed away to his room.

Viago clapped his hands together excitedly. “Perfect, I'll let Vladislav know when he gets home. You just need to let Petyr know.” He gave the documentary crew a nervous glance and left the room.

Petyr wasn’t a stranger to other beings having a hard time with him. They thought that his age made him this monster. That was why he found Nick refreshing. He didn't treat him differently than his other housemates. So when he came down to ask for a favor, he had to admit he was interested.

“So you know how Stu is great and all?” Pausing he watched the older vampire. Continuing only after a nod was given. “ Well my sister is coming over and I don’t want her to get eaten either.”

Petyr stared at him with confusion. This would be another off limits human. Perhaps he picked a weak fledgling.

“I know. I told her not to come, but she insisted. Something about meeting my new friends and savior.”

This made him all the more interested in what the boy had to say. He was 8000 years old, but he may still have a bit of an ego.

“So do you think you can let her meet you and live?” He winced as he waited for his sire to shriek in his face. Though his scrunched posture relaxed when the older vampire only nodded.

The night had come. Viago had dressed for guest as usual, surprisingly so had Deacon. They had told Petyr that he would be fetched after the other introductions were made. Even though you seemed excited to meet them, they knew that he was in a league of his own. It wasn’t every day you came into contact with a vampire that old.

Vlad rolled his eyes as his dandy roommate fussed over pillows on the couch. This was a one time incident. They would reassure the sister that Nick was in good hands and she would leave happy. Simple as that.

At least that was the idea. When Nick brought you in you were the epitome of warm and comforting.

“Now boys I know you don’t eat in the conventional way, but I did think of a different gift. “ You pulled a large spray bottle from you bag. “This is a homemade fabric cleaner, it especially works well on stubborn blood stains. And don’t worry about the ingredients, Nicky told me what to avoid.”

This made Viago particularly excited. He hurried over to you and asked all about the fine details. Nick joined the other two vampires as you shared cleaning secrets.

“Are you sure she’s not actually your mother?” Vlad elbowed the fledgling .

He shook his head, but had a smile on her face. “She might as well be. We have a pretty big age gap, but when my parents died she took me in. No questions ask, just said she wouldn't have it any other way.”

This made Deacon shift uneasily. He had been planning to seduce you. If he couldn't eat you, then the best revenge would be to fuck you. But seeing the kind of person you were, it was making him second guess it.

You both rejoined the group. “Now that the gift is out of the way.” You put your hand out to the other two men. “I'm (Y/N), nice to meet you.”

Viago gave them an encouraging nod from behind you. It seemed you had already won him over. Vlad sighed and put his hand out. Your grip was much stronger than he would have expected.

“Tell me human. What has given you such strong hands.”

Your smile brightened at the comment. “I’m a substitute teacher and librarian at the local primary school. I guess you could say that wrestling kids into their seats most days keeps you strong.”

He too gave an approving nod towards you. If you could keep the demons that were small children in line. You must be a formidable foe.

Turning to the last member of the group, you found that his hand was already extended. Placing yours into it, you were surprised when he shifted it and brought your knuckles to his lips. “I can’t believe that Nick was hiding such a voluptuous beauty from us.”

Another surprise, but noticing the sneer Nick threw his way. You thought that this must be the Deacon he complained about so much. “As nice as the compliment is. I have a feeling that this is a disingenuous attempt just to get under Nicky's skin.” You pat his shocked face and grabbed your brother's hand. “I think that one more introduction is in order.”

He nodded and lead you to the basement door.

The rest of the vampires looked on in differing levels of shock. Until Viago broke the silence. “She is quite interesting.”

The anticipation and excitement you had for encountering such an ancient being was making your heart race. You hadn’t blinked an eye at Nick revealing his condition to you. Your dream of being a librarian, at a young age, has always left you with a curious and creative mind. Thus legends and lore was an early interest for you. So it wasn’t an odd thing at how you were drawn to Petyr. And it seemed the feeling was mutual.

When his eyes laid on your form, he was taken aback. He had a hunger alight in him that he hadn’t felt in centuries. Your soft plush body was one that belonged in an oil painting. He would proudly hang it above the fireplace and admire it for hours.

Putting out a hand, to becon you over, he was bewildered when you took it in your own. You shook it with a bashful look on your flushed full face.

“I wanted to thank you for taking care of my little Nicky here. I don’t know what I would do if he wasn’t in my life. Is there anything I can do to ever repay you?”

In all his years on earth, he wasn’t sure he had ever had a more frustrating experience. His voice had escaped him some centuries ago. Now was the time he despised this fact the most. He wanted to speak sweet words to you. Tell you that for such an enchantress, he would hand you the world on a platter. For now though, he could only shake his head and give you what was hopefully a reassuring smile.

You deflated a bit, but perked back up as you looked around. “Let me tidy up the place. To be honest, this place is almost as messy as Nicky's room is secondary school.” You were already organizing things and picking up random bones.

He couldn't stop the purr of delight that rumbled in his chest. This was just what he needed to brighten his undead life.

Before coming across the group of vampires, you would have never guess this was what they would be like. You would have thought that it was more like a dark supernatural novel. Where as it was more like wrangling your usual young group of students. Still it was such a fun addition to your life.

The time you spent with Petyr was always the highlight of any visit. Some would think that communication would be am issue. But working with non-verbal children in the past made it easier than anticipated.

The conversation you had were never stilted or awkward. You filled the silence, while he would gesture and make slightly garbled noises. Still the pleasantness of the time you spent together was wonderful.

His life was the best it had been in years. Your company breathed a new joy into his undead life. If you shone brighter or were any warmer, he would worry that he would burn in your mere presence.

He had considered using your brother to invite you over. But there was no need, you came willingly and often. Their group welcomed you in with no qualms. Even taking you out on the town every so often. It was a time they wanted to give you to relax and let loose. He found it highly amusing when you would make your way down and ramble about whatever came to your mind. He even got Nick and Deacon to move a couch to the basement. So you would be comfortable if you couldn't make it home after a night out. Though it seemed more often than not you would end up spending the weekend on the basement couch.

Then an unfortunate series of events caused you to become a permanent resident of the house.

It was early one morning. You had fallen asleep on your usual couch in the basement. Until the sound of glass breaking startled you awake. Jolting up, you squinted into the dark room. Everything was still and quiet. Then a mumbling follow by a crunch came from the only window in the room.

Eyes darting around, they finally found a bone on the floor. In this moment you couldn't have been more thankful that Petyr wanted to keep a few around. Gripping it tightly in your shaking hands, you positioned yourself next to his coffin. Taking in a deep shaky breath, you noticed a shadow blocking the first trickles of morning light filtering through. This made your pulse skyrocket. Steeling yourself, you shifted your hands into a better position and charged.

The fight that ensued was more of a jumble of limbs and grunting. Then he got the upper hand. Pinning you to the ground, he slowly pressed a wooden stake into your chest. But it seemed he hadn't been at this for long, he pierced your lung rather that the heart.

In a moment of agony you called out to Petyr. He heard the pained cry and burst from his crypt. Screeching at the sight before him, he ripped the head from the man’s shoulders. Taking you into his arms, he began to weap.

You placed a trembling hand to his face. “Stay away from the light.” It came out in a quiet garble.

He shook his head and bellowed for the other vampires to come help. Even in your most desperate times you were still concerned for others.

As everyone rushed to your side, you felt your eyes close.

The camera zooms in on a blurry image, after a bit of fiddling it focuses. You and Petyr are in chairs placed next to one another. Your hands are linked and you smile, showing your newly acquired fangs.

“So it’s official, we’re together.” Glancing over at him, your smile softened.

He was already looking at you with a gentle expression. Giving your hand a squeeze, he relaxed into his seat.

Getting up from your chair, you pulled him along with you. “Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got some coffin shoping to do.”

I just wanted to put out there that I haven’t taken an art class since elementary school and I just started practicing drawing more in the last year or so so I am very much still learning (and by learning I mean staring at other peoples cool fanart until I think I know how to draw /j)

It’s time for Viago, Vadislav and Deacon!!

Vampires are Queer

So they’re Queer.

I don’t think they’d have a label but if someone thinks one fits let me know!

They’re are all in a relationship with each other. I know it doesn’t say that in the movie but I’m choosing to believe it.

They don’t have much knowledge of Queer terms because even though they’re old and have had time to learn they haven’t but they just like who they like. They’re vampires if someone is bigoted to them then that person is done.

Viago tries to be a little more gentle and forgiving then the other two but even he has his limits.

They haven’t always been dating because Viago used to still be upset over his former lover, Vladislav had The Beast and various other partners and Deacon had whoever he saw at the time. They eventually realised that they all loved each other and got together.

The three of them can still occasionally see other people if they discuss it first and the others aren’t uncomfortable with it happening but after they got together it didn’t happen as often. They’re all very secure in their relationship and know that at the end of the day they love each other and prefer to stay with each other.

When Nick met them Deacon felt a little jealous but Nick made it clear that he wasn’t into them like that (he is clearly in a relationship with Stu)

Despite Deacon showing that bit of jealously I think that in the relationship Viago shows a surprising jealous streak when someone who they haven’t discussed tries to flirt or seduce either Deacon or Vladislav but he tries to stay polite and be a gentleman. Deacon and Vlad can see straight through that though.

They’ll wear whatever they like and present in whatever way they please. Most of the time it’s an accident because they obviously can’t see their reflections so don’t know how the outfit looks but they usually don’t care as long as it looks nice on them and they like how it feels.

They’ve all had a crush on Stu at some point because Stu is amazing but didn’t act on it because Stu is only interested in Nick.

Viago has slept with Anton a few times after they become friends with the werewolves.

vampires don't celebrate christmas, obviously. but tiny viago found out what a christmas tree is and he fell in love with it! so many brilliant balls and colorful lights and stars and and and he needs one !

The commercialization of Christmas in the past few decades certainly has made it a bit more of a relaxed holiday for Vampires- they just say "X-mas" as the cool kids do xD

But even before that, tiny Viago was memorized by the twinkling lights of those beautiful evergreens he'd occasionally see when the vampire's "dinned out".

Then, he'd constantly be babbling about the trees, how they have pretty ordiments, lights, sometimes even tinsel! And, Vladislav + Deacon are like, "okay, we need to get one if these trees before Viago drags one home himself" xD

So! They buy a plastic one that is pretty darn realistic (because as much as they love their little bat, having a decaying tree in their flat is a bit too much of a hazard, for now at least) and present it to Viago!

And the lil guy is sooooo excited!!! He makes sure Vlad, Deacon and Petyr join in the fun of decorating!!!!

Update: Here’s the part two and part three

When Viago found a child, freshly turned into a vampire on the side of the road in the Wellington suburbs, he knew he couldn’t just leave it there. So he did the only natural thing and brought you home.

At first, Vladislav and Deacon protested the idea firmly. A child did not belong in their household. But with enough persuasion from their favourite dandy and your puppy-dog eyes, they unenthusiastically gave in.

In the beginning, all three of them were a bit annoyed by you. As a child, you were very nosy and did a lot of things you shouldn’t, like touching their stuff, accidentally or purposely waking them up too early, making messes and all that jazz.

But with time you learned to play by their rules and they learned to accept your premature nature.

Viago is the mom. Nobody cares for you more than him. He treats you like his own descendant and nurtures you constantly.

He makes sure you act properly with all due respect and manners.

He teaches you human anatomy and even a thing or two about hunting, though in the first few months he would just kill a victim and bring it to you.

He’s the one you come to talk to about your feelings and concerns, because you trust him to actually listen and understand.

You remind him of himself, when he was young. He had long forgotten that feeling.

Sometimes he can be a bit overbearing with his care and attempts at upbringing, but you have a very close and loving relationship.

Vladislav was the second person to slowly warm up to you.

He loved your infinite curiosity for everything he did. You soaked in knowledge like a sponge.

He read you all of his poetry (aside from the ones, which are obviously inappropriate for kids) and told you stories of his life and death.

Vlad insisted on you learning through experience, so he constantly took you out hunting. Though he was still nearby, to make sure you don’t accidentally come across any vampire slayers or get outed.

You usually come to him for advice on important matters and it flatters him way more than he likes to admit.

You made him wonder what it would’ve been like to have children of his own.

Then there was Deacon.

Your relationship was very complicated at first.

To put it simply, he ignored your existence or just dismissed it, because he was mad that the decision to let you stay here was made against his will.

He didn’t want you here.

But that all changed when you started rambling about how much you loved his knitting projects and asked him to teach you.

He liked teaching you. Not just knitting, but teaching you anything new in general.

Whatever you ask he will always answer with a smart look, even if he doesn’t know the actual answer.

He found hanging out with you much more fun, than it seemed before.

He’s like the fun parent. The one who lets you do things Viago and Vladislav would never allow.

Like jumping off some very high surface and turning into a bat seconds before hitting the ground just for the thrill of it or drinking liquor blood from people outside “Boogie Wonderland”.

He still has a bit of a protective streak, so Deacon never got you into actual real danger.

That doesn’t mean he wasn’t later scolded by the other two vampires for even making you think doing this stuff was okay.

He’s also a surprisingly good empath and always senses when you’re upset about something.

I imagine he’d do the same talk about immortality with you, that he did with Nick.

They guided you through that phase of realisation, that you will be a child for the rest of your undead existence. They helped you through your worst. Even if they weren’t really sure how to, just the fact that they tried their best was enough.

This lifestyle can be miserable and very depressing. But not with them.

With them it is never boring or dull. Even the usual routine can be brightened up by vibrant stories of the past, hobbies, that they can engage you in or a nice night out on the town.

With time, you actually start feeling, like you have a family once again.

A sincere and loving family of bloodthirsty old men.

(A/N: I’ve really been enjoying writing platonic stuff lately, not that I don’t like writing romantic stuff. Incidentally, I finally got around to watching the WWDITS movie, and it now lives rent-free in my brain. So, instead of getting any of my incredibly old requests done, I decided to write this.)

You’d join the friend group because of Viago.

You were supposed to be one of his meals, but he grew so fond of you during the evening that he couldn’t bring himself to feast on you.

When he invites you over to hang out again, he confesses beforehand that him and his flatmates are vampires, which (somehow) doesn’t deter you.

You probably don’t find out that he was going to eat you, at least not for a few years.

He also orders his flatmates not to harm you.

Of course, they’re hesitant about trying to be your friend and dismissive of his plea at first.

However, you manage to win over Vlad and Deacon when the three of them take you on a night out.

They’ll treat you like one of them quite quickly, and sometimes they’ll forget that you’re a human.

They’ll gladly teach you about everything and anything paranormal.

They’d probably consider it ‘cute’ how 'simple’ you are.

On that note, I can imagine the vampires inadvertently insulting and patronising you a lot because of your humanity.

Like, they’d say something about you being a weak, pathetic human or something along those lines, and citing that as a reason why they have to take ‘extra good care of you’, as Viago would (very sweetly) say.

They’re surprisingly considerate of you and your human needs, though.

You wanna grab something to eat?

They’ll sit there while you eat your human food of choice, chatting until you’re done.

Sometimes, Deacon will get Jackie to get you your ‘human things’ (though you often protest and overrule him).

If Jackie does end up going out and getting you something, though, you’ll make sure to do her a favour in return (such as helping her with her familiar duties or babysitting her kids).

After she becomes a vampire, you’ll definitely become better friends (since, before, you would have been more her master’s friend).

She’ll like you already because of your kindness towards her when she was a familiar.

You’re also very helpful when it comes to the vampires’ chores.

Well, you tend to help out Deacon more often than Viago or Vlad.

You’d probably help Deacon clean the bloody dishes for the first time in five years, though Viago and Vlad would try to insist that you shouldn’t be helping him.

They’re cool with you crashing at their apartment whenever.

When Nick joins your group, Viago makes it immediately known to him that you’re their friend, not food (something he probably only remembers to bring up when Nick’s about to bite into your neck.

When Stu joins your group, you feel a kind of immediate connection to him, since you’re both humans.

Stu probably thinks you’re kind of odd at first, because you seem so acclimated to this supernatural thing despite being human.

However, he quickly becomes as acclimated to everything as you, since he rarely seems overly bothered by the whole supernatural thing.

The vampires are quite protective of you and Stu, especially around other creatures.

If you ever have someone that you dislike, the vampires (especially Vlad, Deacon and possibly even Nick) would casually offer to kill them for you.

They’d definitely offer to turn you into a vampire every now and then (much to pre-bite Jackie’s chagrin).

If you wanted to become a vampire, they’d more than happily turn you.

If not, though, they’re just happy to have their ‘cool little human friend’.
